Reviews of Burlington Records
Quaint shop. However once one’s order is fulfilled, zero communication. Hey, it’s COVID times even in 2023. But traveling the country and shopping about, the shops with whom I’ve dealt have always answered emails. Check it out but don’t expect a lasting relationship. 3 stars for 3FFORT. Nice selection. Best of luck.
Nicely organized, good atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. And in a great location in Burlington. I'll be back to hunt through the stacks!
This place is mint. If you're into vinyl or music at all for that matter, you want to check this spot out. Charming little laid back vibe. Tons and tons of records all very well organized and taken care of. Some real gems here!
This is one of the best organized and spacious record stores I've ever been in. I stopped by while I was in town to sell some records that i wasn't playing much these days and the appraisal and selling process was so efficient that I had barely looked through two bins of records before I was signing away my LPs and being handed cash.
The atmosphere was very relaxed and the staff were all friendly without being over-bearing. I'll definitely be stopping in the next time I'm in the area.
I recently went in and inquired about scratches, their $1 bins, discounted records, etc. (I'm still a vinyl novice), and the tall staff member who answered these questions was incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and patient. The records I've gotten from there have had a pretty clear sound... even the discounted Gershwin sounds amazing! Highly recommend this store if you're in town. The ambiance is also stellar.
For a small record store it has a great selection of records - especially rock, indie and electronic.
Really good selection of records. I give 3 stars because the staff has consistently been short and unfriendly every time I’ve been, which has resulted in less-than-pleasant shopping experiences.
Nevertheless, found some great music here.
The best record shop in Burlington, and Vermont in general. I always take time to visit BR anytime I'm in town. There are a few other shops nearby but if you love vinyl and only have time for 1 stop, make it Burlington Records. Everything is clean and organized, the layout is open and spacious, and all LP's are sleeved and priced accordingly. I find their prices to be quite reasonable, especially considering their prime location downtown right off of Church St. Despite the fact that they likely pay a HUGE amount in rent I still find plenty of bargains there. I spend around $50-60 every visit and never leave empty-handed. There's even a massive bin of $5 specials in the back with hundreds of titles to dig through. They also have a listening station set-up with a professional Technics deck so you can test out an LP before you purchase it. You really can't go wrong here. There is a very small selection of CD's to choose from on the wall, and they do sell some equipment as well, but this place is really all about the Records. New, used, any genre - they will have something you're looking for!
A very clean record shop that's bright and open. Loads of vinyl, not too many cds. Plenty to dig through so plan a bit of time to get through it.
Nice, clean store. Good alphabetized selection of used $5 records and a few $1 bins. Skipped the new records as they are way too expensive.
It is nicely laid out and not too crowded. They are not squishing records together. Not the craziest largest inventory, but it is well rounded and decent sized with a bit for everyone. You could get a stroller through the store if wanted. Overall a good record store!
Burlington has plenty of vinyl options if you're a fan of record shops. Burlington Records has good variety across the board and is nice and clean. Great selection of indie and hip hop, but you've got your staples as well. Helpful staff. Would recommend
Absolutely loved this place!!! ❤️
Been coming here (once a year) since it opened about ten years ago...love the new space...I've been buying records for over 40 years around the world, and, for its size, it is one of the best stores I've been to.
Burlington is extremely lucky to have it.
Well curated record store with plenty of gems to hunt for. Spent an afternoon digging through crates and left with some great records. When I walked in, I noticed the clerk was working on cleaning a pile of records. I must say all the used records I picked up were in very clean condition. This is a store that takes pride in their craft. Great service and it was a pleasure to talk music with Matty. Will definitely be back next time I pass through Vermont!
I've been coming here for a few years and I always look forward to making the trip in. I was buying a double LP the other day and Evan told me a previous copy they received mistakenly had two of the same record inside. He opened it up to check and sure enough it was the same issue.
He offered to order a new one for me and after leaving my information with him I got a call a little later saying he found another copy in the stock room and had put it on hold for me. Thanks, Evan!
Excellent selection. Incredible service. The owners are super-smart, kind and funny; they're dedicated music lovers who help beginners build & experts expand a record collection to last a lifetime.
Was on vacation and happened too stop in, had a small selection but it was definitely diverse ended up picking up a animal collective album I'd been looking for, for years would definitely recommend a stop through if your in the area
Super cool little store, visited on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. Chill environment and the clerk seemed knowledgeable. Large selection of both new and used records. Even some equipment was being sold.
Recent visit stateside and a walk on Church Street gave the greatest gift in the surprise of the locale, choice/selection, atmosphere, and professionalism of an independent record store. Walked out with a bag full of fantastic cds, mostly hard to find on any front, and have all been put to good use. Will be returning for sure, and is now considered a must stop on any journey.
I have been toying with the idea of migrating to vinyl for some time. I strolled in there and asked Ian for his advice on what I would need to get started. He proceeded to show me various setups for different budgets. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he answered my basic questions without making me feel like an idiot.
He did not try and convince me to buy the most expensive gear there. As a true sales professional should, he asked me lots of questions about what kind of music I listen to, why I want vinyl etc. and then made several suggestions.
I ended up dropping almost 800 bucks on a setup along with a couple of records. Came home, set it up and the sound blew me away.
It is rare thesedays to find a sales person who actually listens to you and offers solutions. I am a big fan of this place and can understand why they have been in business for over a decade.
Absolutely fantastic shop! Spent a few days in Burlington and found myself going back to shop for more records not once, but twice! Can't get enough of the extremely diverse selection and the staff don't get much more knowledgable than they are here. Highly Recommend!
Burlington Records is an independent record store in downtown Burlington, Vermont currently located on College Street. They carry mostly used vinyl records as well as a few new shrink wrapped vinyl records. Their selection are very limited and I would like to see more well known artists from the 80's and 90's available. They mostly carry well known artists from the 60's and 70's. They do participate in Record Store Day, but their selection are very limited. Most used vinyl there are way overpriced regardless of the quality. I usually leave this store empty handed which is disappointing.
For such a small city this record shop is world class. One of the largest selections of experimental albums I have seen. Good African selection as well.
My favorite record store in the area. The new location is much more spacious than the previous one and it makes it much easier to browse. They have a huge selection and are always getting new stuff in.
*Very* friendly staff members and fair prices. The only issue that I had is that they don't grade they're items however besides that it's definitely a place to go to.
Really well organized welcoming record store. Friendly owners - super cool spot!
This is a great little store right off of Church St, tough to park at (got a parking ticket) but easy to walk to if you're already there. It's amazing how much vinyl they can fit in the store being such a small space but they do it and it works. The place is always packed when I go in and folks are always finding some gem that makes them smile. I came out of there one day with about 13 $1 records and the guy called it good at $10. These guys are impeccable about condition so some of the $1 records just had flawed covers or light scratch marks which didn't matter to me picking up a Robert Plant solo album or Jethro Tull's Stormwatch. My biggest surprise was finding Fairport Convention's Liege and Lief in the dollar bin... cover was a bit of a wreck but vinyl very listenable.
Their more middle of the road vinyl is moderately priced at $6 (picked up a Reprise pressing of JT Benefit, Steeley Span And Now We are Six and Planxty). I almost don't check the condition anymore (unless the sticker says to) because I know these guys check each one thoroughly. I love the New Arrivals bin and is the first place I go when I get in the store. They've got special records displayed up above the bins, they've got some electronics both new and old as well as a cool selection of vintage posters... if you're in to that kind of thing.
Don't expect the guys to small talk (unless you initiate it), even when they're not busy these guys are busy but are there if you need help finding something. There are only 4 or 5 record stores in Vermont and this is in the top 2. Give it a shot!
I recently discovered this vinyl record store and am 100% satisfied. Great finds with awesome customer service and delivery!
Nice store with a very good selection and honest prices (rare stuff is not cheap but not overpriced either). I like how new and used records are mixed as this is not common in France.
Great selection of music. I bought my husband a record player for Christmas n loved shopping here for records.
Great selection of LPs! Very reasonably priced compared to other stores I've been to. Friendly knowledgeable staff!
I great record store in a place where you can't find a lot of records store. Was able to buy a record there for a present that is great. It is a nice store with 2 levels of records, posters, and equipment. everything is priced reasonably.
Wonderful shop fits with the downtown BTV vibe. Mostly new with a few used beauties, especially inside the case up front. Friendly, knowledgeable staff.
I love this shop, my wallet doesn't, I'm generally allowed to spend like four minutes here, before the stack of things I want gets too big.
One of my favorite stores of all time. They have an excellent staff and a great record selection
I've been going here for years and it's a really great place with a very diverse selection of records, and friendly employees.
Great layout! I was able to find most of what I was looking for. Will definitely visit again.
This place is an amazing locally owned music store. Filled with many gems to satisfy your listening pleasures.
Awesome store with awesome people. Great deals on records with friendly and enthusiastic owners. Can't wait to come back again.
Great selection of records, prices were market value.
Nice selection of records. Friendly and helpful staff.
Good store with a solid collection, would like to see more hip-hop.
Great local place we found during our visit.
Huge selection with personal service and good pricing.
This is my go to location for vinyl and CDs. Prices are OK and they have a good selection to choose from.
Really great store with a good selection of music and extremely friendly and helpful staff.
Clean store , smelled like rich hardwood inside which I liked. Guy wanted a little too much for his records though in my opinion
Employees were knowledgeable yet delightful. The perfect balance of pretentiousness and helpfulness.
Awesome record shop. Lots of selection accross all price ranges.
Great and helpful staff, vinyl is overpriced for new stuff and used stuff is almost always damaged in some way
Lots of vinyl. Nicely set up. Definitely visit this place.
