Very neat and organized. Small shop but they have a lot of great records including rare bootlegs. They still write out receipts by hand and figure out tax with a calculator. Not a store for short people but I'm not short so the 5 stars remain.

Outstanding. Don't expect to find many bargains in here, BUT... the inventory is well curated, well organized, and most everything (vinyl and CD's) is VG+ or higher, so in the end the stuff is high quality and priced fairly. I buy mostly CD's from them (they are picky kept behind the counter and not a scratch or scuff on any of them) and every time I come in here, I walk out with EXACTLY what I was looking for (today- a TFF, a Metallica and two Flaming Lips CD's). Thanks guys! 👍

I love Planet Records! I was in the area and was exploring different stores for CDs, looking for a specific rock band and to no avail. Finally I came to Planet Records and I found what I was looking for almost instantly! I love the way they keep all the CDs organized by picture/booklet and instead keep the actual discs in the back, it allows you to look through everything so much more efficiently and keeps the discs out of harm's way too. I don't think any other record store I've been to so far has organized their discs in this way. Fair prices too!

First time visiting and I am amazed at the great condition the used vinyl is in, also amazed about the depth of genres you can find. If you want it there's a good chance it's here. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

I came across this store when searching for a place that buys used DVDs. Wicked chill store. They have new and old music, hard to find DVDs and a plethora of records. Although it's a small store, as I looked over many different titles and artists from past to present, the huge array of memories it brought up made me want to spend the day in there. The only suggestion I'd have is to share a space with a local coffee shop and add a little live music from local artists. But still a great local establishment with very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful employees.

I love this store! I found a like-new copy of Fringe on Blu-ray for a super accesible price. They also sell covers for your records in convenient amounts. They have a great variety of vinyl records, and lots of movies as well. Prices are fair.

I have been to this shop a few times now and I always leave with a result better than my expectations going in.. no other place does that for me in this area. This place is a diggers paradise - especially for jazz. Best jazz selection hands down. Everywhere you look in the shop there is something for sale. They have crates, vintage 45’s carry boxes, cds, vhs, tshirts, etc etc… Just go there. There’s a nice coffee shop nextdoor too.

Extremely conscious curating of their stock. Vinyl condition is top notch. Go browsing with an open mind instead of a set list and you will have a good time. Cheap mystery grab bags. Friendly staff. Great atmosphere. Cozy and cool.

Great record store with good price. They were spinning excellent tunes and I discovered one of my new favorite artists (Laura Nyro) while checking out the stacks. Happened across a stack of $1-$2 records that were in fine condition, but not up to the levels of what they keep on the shelves. Definitely pay attention to detail and have an appropriate bar for quality. Huge CD selection as well, which was personally not as interesting.

It's am awesome feeling to dig through an outstandingly organized record selection in great condition, and you find an album or two, and in some cases more that you've been coveting for a long time. It's even more awesome to be able to just grab it without even examining it because you're so confident that the record store actually sells quality vinyl and doesn't buy from peoples attic collections. Planet Records is magical here. Easily one of the best in town for semi-rare used and new vinyl at damn decent prices.

I called about selling CDs I had in the attic. The guy said he’s inundated with CDs because during Covid everyone cleaned out their stuff and he has more inventory than demand. He was so decent and nice that even though I can’t do business with him it told me everything I need to know about the store. These are the people you want to support.

One of the most personal experiences I have ever had trying to buy music or check out VHS collections. The location is perfect because it is really close to Harvard square and offers such a valuable service. Each person working knows so much about music that its embarrassing if you don't know exactly what you want. Absolutely fabulous to chat with these people about their musical preferences.

This place is right on my way home (like, I have to drive right by it) so I'm probably in here more than I should be. I have found some great records here. The store is really well organized and the new arrivals are dated with the day they go out on the rack. It doesn't seem like the rest of the shop changes much so you can give the place a real through go through and then just regularly check the new arrivals. They also have CDs and DvDs

Great collection of new and used Lp's. The staff was helpful and the store had a nice cozy vibe. Worth the time sorting through the bins, I picked up a Bowie record for 5 bucks!

Whenever I'm visiting a new city, I look for a few record stores. Planet Records is the best store I've found since I happened across Sister Ray records in London. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, store is clean, well organized, and they managed to have a huge selection in a relatively small space. I'll definitely be visiting next time i'm in Boston.
