Low pressure, stress free environment. The employees are skilled experienced and friendly. No one has better prices and or knowledge and awesome rare gems galore. I would stop wasting my money at guitar center and only shop here. Excellence.

I went into Gigs Music back in September and was pleasantly surprised. A friendly gentleman approached and was extremely helpful. It's now December and I've been back àt least 30 times or more. Their prices are more than reasonable. The service is superb which makes it a even better experience. All in all on a scale from 1to 10 I give Gigs Music an easy 9 1/2. That's how impressed I am

I bought a bass I knew nothing about; having never touched a bass. I brought it in to be serviced and couldn't be happier with Gigs service. The guy servicing it(I feel like he might of been the owner but I can't say for sure) was super friendly and knowledgeable. He did his best to make me feel comfortable in the store and encouraged me to mess around with the different Equipment around the store. He got me SO STOKED to learn the bass which shows his dedication to music and not just his business. They replaced one of my tuning keys free of charge. They could've just said "screw it, he will have to tune it more often" but they replaced it out of the kindness of their hearts. I almost went to Guitar Center because of the name but took the risk on the local shop and am so glad I did; for GC would never care this much about a customer. I will go to Gigs for any music needs I have, truly a gem of the bench.

The store is small, and the selection of instruments is not exactly large. Chances are, you'll only find between 3 and 5 bass guitars for sale. There is usually an adequate amount of electric guitars to browse through though. Also, a fairly good selection of acoustic guitars. And, you'll probably find some other instruments, like cigar box guitars, ukes and banjos.
If you are looking for used instruments and good deals, I think Gigs is worth visiting.
Andy, the store's proprietor, is friendly, quite helpful, and easy to talk to. Several musicians I've talked with say he is a very good guitar tech.
There are one or more guitar teachers working there. I heard one was quite good, but I can't remember his name, sorry. The teacher or teachers work with both adults and kids.
The worst thing about the store is sometimes people smoke in there. I don't like being in an enclosed environment in which people are smoking. I tend not to stay long when I smell cigarette smoke. That's just nasty, and discourages business.
If this store sold more bass guitars, and if no one ever smoked inside, I've be giving Gigs a 5 star rating instead of 4.

Best music store! We met Dub who sold us a rare drum kit, gave us alot of help and equipment to get it road ready, even down to a pair of diamond sticks that ended up being awesome sticks!! Very cool place!

Dub hooked me up with awesome amp. I liked the way it sounded at first, but I had some reservations. Dub listened to me, tinkered with the amp for about an hour and a half for no extra charge (switching out tubes and getting rid of any buzzing or rattling), and I ended up with an amp that fit my budget and sounded just like I wanted it to. Will recommend.

I had just done some pricing of available amplifier tubes at, gulp, Guitar Center, when I decided to call these guys before visiting the store.
The very first guy I talked to (meaning: I didn't have to be transfered, unlike EVERY time I call Guitar Center) was extremely knowledgeable on the subject. I had a vague idea of what I wanted, but he gave me specific reasons for why each tube might be desirable, directed me towards independent online resources, and asked for the specifics of my rig. He seemed more concerned about me finding the tone I wanted, than he did about making a sale.
Naturally, I went over to Gig's Music and bought the Mullard 12AX7 preamp tube I planned to buy anyway. But it was the service of the employees which sent me there.

I remember, not too long ago Gigs Music Company was owned and operated by Rick and Debbie Schroeder. They had an impressive enventory. Then it changed hands you another great musician who worked for the Schroeders from the beginning and held it's integrity. It seems those days are over. I've been there a few times lately and it saddens me to say it's really gone down hill. To say the service is poor would be a understatement. The inventory lacks quantity and quality both. It's definitely not getting a favorable critique from me. Three stars is more than generous in my view. 👎

Took in my first guitar for a setup and saddle replacement and I couldn't be more pleased with the service. I was told the saddle could be salvaged, but when I picked it he actually replaced it for half off parts and no labor! Definitely earned a customer for life, and the guitar plays like a dream now. 5/5 stars

Gigs is the true musicians music store. Dub is so knowledgeable and helpful. He's saved my gig on numerous occasions now by helping me with hardware problems and I really appreciate it!

My daughter started 5th grade band today and we had no idea how to work with her school-issued tenor sax. The guys at Gig's knew exactly what she needed and even took the time to teach her a few things. She left there feeling confident and supported. We'll definitely be returning.

Local. This is a locally owned and operated guitar shop. New and used equipment. Knowledgeable staff, and they sell music by local artists. This is more of a contemporary supply store, guitar, bass, drums. No cellos or grand pianos really.
David Wren
The owner is obviously dedicated and knowledgeable. He has a passion for music and instruments that is not seen to often anymore.
I had several questions and he had answers.
I suggest taking your instrument in for it's overdue adjustment and see for yourself.

Very cool local music store. Guy working was incredibly knowledgeable and perfectly happy to kibbutz while I fiddled around with different guitars and basses. Lots of different stuff, some of it very unusual.

Locally owned and operated music shop, with an in-house fully-equipped recording room that you can reserve to throw down some high quality tracks. Great place to go if you're looking for new or used gear

Great visit to learn what banjos I might be interested in, as well as chatting about local punk music in the area. I talked at length with Dub, who was very interesting, as he knows a lot about various musical genre and bands playing in the Boise area.
