If you're looking for guitar experts in Boise, look no further, a much better experience than the "big name" store in town. Words cannot express how thankful I am to Rob for going above and beyond and having my husband's guitar ready for father's day. I don't know anything about guitars, and had called multiple music instrument stores trying to find guidance to get a very specific guitar and all ready in less than 2 weeks before father's day, Rob was the one who ACTUALLY CARED, he was trying to help me find it, even if it wasn't through them! He was literally so kind, understanding and took the time to educate me, he was even willing to stay after business hours to help me out. Luckily we found the right guitar just in time, my father ended up bringing it in to get worked on so it was ready to go by father's day, they made it happen! My dad had an amazing experience as well. Thank you for making my husband father's day, unforgettable! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

12th Fret Music is old-school knowledgeable, and Rob understands that nothing can help a musician faster than to hold an instrument in your hands or to hear a pedal firsthand. I've had the pleasure of buying all kinds of gear from him, selling some of my gear, and interacting with his incredibly experienced and fun staff. All the jargon aside, this place rocks because you have passionate people that want to help you find that tone you are looking for, not just sell you whatever they can. They recently helped me build my first pedal board. I wouldn't have been able to tackle the job without their assistance. This is not a come in and get out quick shop. You will be in there for a while browsing, chatting, and being amazed at the store's stock. 12th Fret Music is the reason you "Buy local, or bye-bye local."

Service tech Glen is very knowledgeable and works quickly. Next day turnaround on an issue that made my uncommon amplifier unplayable. Got it sorted out for just the base diagnostic fee, plus very communicative and considerate of my experience of the issue. Also a huge selection of guitars, basses, and amps to rival GC, but in a local shop. Will be recommending this shop to everyone in town.

After working with the other music stores in Boise to no avail, I met Rob this summer and had him order me a Yamaha BB734 bass guitar. He kept me updated on what info he got from Yamaha regarding availability and shipping, and he called me the minute it came in. After calling many shops around the country to no avail, I finally found 12th fret guitars ! Rob is an awesome stand up guy and does not push or haggle you in any way shape or form! I made a very big purchase here due to the fact that he actually chatted on the phone and answered all my questions and not once did I feel like I was a bother to him! I called a few other high end boutique guitar shops around the country and they acted annoyed that I even called to ask about a certain guitar they had in stock ! So guys I HIGHLY recommend going to 12th fret music for your music needs ! If you guys want a custom Tom Anderson, give Rob a call! They even have 24 months 0% financing! Wow!! Check them out guys ! I will be going straight to Rob when I order another Anderson! Even though I have an Anderson dealer 10 minutes away from where I live, those guys are arrogant, condescending, pompous human beings. Rob and Kathy at 12th Fret were able to set up a bass I bought off Amazon in an hour with a pickup and action adjustment, new strings, tightened the tuners and oiled the fretboard in an hour, the same day, the day before Christmas Eve. Great first guitar buying experience! Super friendly and no pressure to buy something that was beyond my newbie abilities. Unfortunately, there was an issue with the guitar I purchased which turned out to be a factory defect. Rob and Benji went out of their way to correct the problem and ultimately gave me a brand new replacement when it became obvious that the manufacturing problem was not something that could easily be fixed. Through it all they were upbeat and I always felt that they had my back and would make things right; which they did. Great people!

I’ve been in to this store twice, my first time was about 2 months ago. The unfortunate exterior of this strip mall location hides a hidden gem. When you enter 12th fret music you are greeted by a friendly smile, a clean store and a relaxed atmosphere. The store has a good selection of new and used guitars and amps. This week I took my friend there to find an electric guitar. After testing several we found the one, a used Reverend with a better price than anyone online. A great guitar for a great deal with a great buying experience. The guys in the store are guitar players and I’m sure would spend all day talking about guitars with you if you let them. This is the place I will send friends and family for a quality guitar-anywhere from 100$ to 1500$. I hope their stock will expand in the future to include American made guitars but I understand several of the largest brands are a pain for smaller shops to work with. I’m looking forward to retuning to this shop.

I purchased a Rivolta Mondata XVIII from 12th Fret through Reverb, the processing and shipping was faster than expected. Upon receipt of the guitar, I found some issues with the switching. I reached out to 12th Fret and they were very easy to work with and quick in their responses. I took the guitar to a local shop, got a quote, and was refunded the cost of repair. I recently bought a Jackson soloist used and it had a few small issues, mainly intonation, fret buzz, and frets feeling a little scratchy on bends. The man I dropped it off with was friendly and knowledgeable, and took notes of all my nitpicks. Left the guitar with them for a day, and after a restring and full setup, I can happily say the guitar feels and plays like it should now. Action feels great, frets are smooth, buzz gone, intonation spot on, and the guitar didn’t have a fingerprint on it when it was returned to me. I would happily recommend this shop for any guitar needs from setup to gear.

The shop looks really great, it's a great blend of new stock, custom stock creations, new old stock, retro and vintage guitars, guitar amps and more! Always a great experience. Repairs are done in a timely manner and the inventory of vintage gear is excellent. Fair priced and the owners are also friendly and willing to negotiate on trades, buys, and consignment for used gear. Unlike the big box Guitar Center, the atmosphere is relaxed and you don't have the feeling of being either completely ignored or followed around like you are going to steal something. Strings, picks, and tuners are lower priced than a lot of the competition.

After not having the best luck with local guitar shops, I've been a little hesitant leaving my instruments to get worked on (had one dude strip the truss rod and another completely forget about, and lose my guitar). That said, 12th Fret Music has earned my trust, and future business. My electric guitar setup was completed in less than 24 hours, and it plays fantastic. Intonation is spot on, and they even remembered to restring in a drop tuning. Price wise they are the best in town (talking 50 bucks less than other business for the same process) and they were solid dudes to deal with. If you need any work done on your instrument I couldn't recommend this place more.

Daryl sold the business to new owners and they are not very knowledgeable about guitar repairs or timely about getting back to you. I had to take my guitar repairs to somewhere else to get it done right. But being a local shop, they are still better than a chain store in many ways.

I got my very first Electric (a great condition second-hand Epiphone LP with some nicer-than-stock pickups, ~350$) here a few months ago after shopping around the valley for a while. Having gone to five or six different guitar shops Doyle's was the only one that didn't make me feel like a moron for being new to the world of guitar. I've been back a few times for strings and some other accouterments and I've been treated just as well - and the guy behind the counter even remembered which guitar he sold me. For those interested in getting started: save yourself some time and make Doyle's your first stop, rather than your last like me.

Robert has done a amazing job with the store. Went in on Saturday and played on some awesome guitars: Taylors, d'angelicos and others. What blew me away was the Tonewood amplifier. Turns your guitar into it's own amplifier. Incredible sounds. Him and his son were also doing repairs while I was there. Great staff! We went to drop off a couple items to be fixed and the staff was so friendly! They were also knowledgeable and offered advice for items my bf had questions on since he's trying to get back into music.: "Bob" rang us up for additional items and was funny and just the kind of person who makes you want to come back and shop again. They even gave us a free guitar pic a local guy makes only asking we let them know how it works out when we come back! Also prices were fair on repairs and they were thorough asking questions beforehand about diagnostics. They even saved us from adding a third item to our repair order by doing some troubleshooting.
