Reviews of Seasick Records
Great record store. They seemed to be out of quite a bit of artist records, so must be popular. They even have stations to listen to record players with headphones. And there’s a barbershop 💈 in-house. Very cool spot and clearly trendy. I’ll be back. …
My 14 year old just got into vinyl and this place is very cool. Great selection of new and and used stuff that is in good condition. They have a listening area set up and cool music playing in the store. No hassle no bother and just took our time looking through and talking music. The used stuff is pretty cheap and gives you an opportunity to try something you wouldn't normally for 3 bucks.
There aren't many places like this left, but this place has the most killer vibe! Staff was friendly and inviting, but also will leave you alone to peruse their inventory at your leisure. Prices are great, stock was great, environment was perfect. They will be getting a lot more of my money!
This is a great place to pick up used vinyl. They seem to always have treasures to find. The used albums that I've purchased from here have always been in great condition and at very reasonable prices.
Great customer service-greeted as soon as I walked in, and an employee very kindly helped me find everything I was looking for. A great atmosphere with a lot of neat indie exclusives. Will definitely be back.
I ordered a copy of Mars Volta’s “The Bedlam in Goliath” on Seasick Records website and was pleasantly surprised when it arrived in perfect condition! This has not been the case with other small independent record stores i’ve ordered from as of late. Seasick has become my new go to shop for all my vinyl needs!! Highly recommended! The little thank you note inside was an extra nice touch! Thanks!!!
Seasick consistently provides some of the best service I have ever received at any establishment of any kind. Getting in contact on social media is always perfect, they always remember the conversation the next day, and the quickness of the interaction is always blistering. The store itself is always clean, the employees are always kind, and the selection is some of the best. Please, whether you deal with them online or in person, give your business to Seasick.
We've been in twice from Ohio when visiting Bham. Always good finds and reasonable prices.
Cool place, nice atmosphere. Needed to have more time to look. Not as much old records as I thought, lot of remastered.
Seasick Records is of the greatest places to shop in Birmingham! They seem to always be adding records on the shelves which makes each visit something new. They appear to have high standards on their incoming product as nearly every used record I’ve bought has been pristine (even the $3 section). It is easily the cleanest and most well-organized store of its kind that I can remember. Specifically their alphabetical order is well-maintained & the sections are labeled in a clear manner. The best part is actually the staff! They are friendly & helpful without being pushy. They have no music snobbery vibe whatsoever & are attentive no matter what type of collector you are. Eli has been especially helpful as well as the young woman (I didn’t get her name, Erica?) too. The music volume is lively but not so loud that the communication is compromised. They also have some CDs, cassettes, turntables, posters, store brand t-shirts & various supplies related to records. Check them out & you just might be hooked!
Very cool record store! Has a very wide selection of music genres to choose from, the have merch and even a small stage for live music. Really enjoyed the friendly staff and chill atmosphere. Definitely coming back!
Fantastic record shop and such a cool place to visit. It's a little dangerous having them so close to where I live because I'm always tempted to drop by, see what's in stock, and probably buy more records than I actually intended to. But no complaints because they're the best.
I loved this place. Good selection, not overwhelming to go through, friendly staff, chill atmosphere, and they even let you listen to records before you buy. Highly recommend
I'm nearly 50, so obviously I grew up in the era when LPs were the primary musical medium. Even once cassettes began to phase out LPs, I always enjoyed browsing in my local record store. Ordering online is fine, but nothing beats browsing the stacks, finding treasures that you are seeking, or finding new or different music to try. In modern days, it's getting harder to find actual brick and mortar record stores. Thankfully, Birmingham is blessed to have Seasick. Their selection is always stellar, and even the "bargain bins" section is always full of great, clean albums. Everything is ALWAYS perfectly alphabetized. The atmosphere is laid back; the staff is wonderful, helpful, and completely willing to let you browse and roam about the store as long as you like. I have not once come out of there empty-handed. They have everything: LPs, cassettes, CDs, posters, etc. It's great to have a true local record store like the "old days." Highly recommended.
Love Dan and the whole crew at Seasick. Great selection, cool atmosphere, and friendly & helpful staff.
Awesome store. I went to check it out for Furnace Fest. Even though I didn't get there during business hours, the staff was super friendly during the show. They had a lot of cool stuff. Will definitely come back next time I am in Birmingham
Great selection of used and new vinyl. They also had a few hard to find cassettes. I walked away with some amazing deals. Next time I’m in the area I will be back.
Now for the extra….
I dropped my wallet with several hundred dollars in cash. I thought maybe I just left it in the car so they let me pay with Apple Pay (which is cool). I realized I had actually lost it and went back to the store later. He remembered my surprise that I didn’t have my wallet and when I came back greeted me at the door with my wallet with the cash still present. As sad as this is…. Most places would’ve taken the cash and thrown away the wallet. I had dropped it in the store. I’m so grateful! I was going to give a good review anyway but this was beyond the norm. I’ve had stores insist I leave my bag at the front of the store and later found they went through it and stole my cash…. But this place is a class act. THANK YOU AGAIN!!!
Great selection of f new vinyl. Decent collect of used.
You guys are really talented, they run a ship shape shop, always punctual, always respectful, running a very nice business. I’m interested in moving into or back into vinyl. Eli and I work together on what equipment I’m going to need, the turntable and features available, the completely forgotten sound difference between what I am used to listening to now versus the sound coming across quality vinyl! I have some older equipment someone recently gifted me and I haven’t known which parts I will need for a vinyl set up given all of these high quality components but some of them I didn’t even recognize what function they perform. Eli help me understand which items would be of value to me and which ones I would want to add we also talked about the possibility of all of it tying into my existing Sonos system versus something that is specifically made for listening to vinyl. And then the last thing I wanted to talk about was quality of wiring, placement, my options for keeping the equipment out of sight not so much because of the side of hi-fi equipment but more for the purpose of keeping my existing clean surfaces style. This was a lot to cover but I don’t think I was with Eli for maybe 20 minutes at the most and I felt completely comfortable that between what I have on hand and what I will need to supplement with that Eli will walk me through my set up all the way so I was completely comfortable with the price points and what my needs will be as well as the availability of the vinyl that suits my taste in music. Awesome visit to see sick records! I thought Eli might actually own the store, that’s how passionate he is about what the store is about and his wall in satisfying customers. That’s the kind of employee you wanna surround yourself with yet are so hard to fine. Thank you Eli and thank you
Seasick records owner who I didn’t meet due to your working with other clients. But thank you for having such a great guy available, for your recognizing of his knowledge and the value He brings to your customers, I never felt any pressure and when I asked about inventory and what was available right now I could see for myself with the point of a finger that everything was on hand.
I’m old-school, and that was an old school start at the beginning experience for me. I loved it, I love seeing how technology has changed yet was in this case actually just more integrated into older turntable technology which I was familiar with long ago. I just needed to be reminded and updated. No arrogant nose up in the air environment whatsoever.
It was an awesome experience and I left with a smile on my face and knowing I needed to go no further in my search. Seasick has everything I need.
One another just start fall, really never seen before and so perfect in every way was some sort of retail store small hanging rack that had one time use blue face mask just home and ready to be grabbed when you walked in the store in case you had left yours in the car for home without one. One of the most thoughtful touches I have seen throughout the entire Covid global pandemic. That is an absolutely awesome way to support a healthy community and Or a forgetful client!
Everyone in there was very nice, the records/cassettes/cds/posters/etc. were all in great condition, and everything was very clean and had a great and welcoming atmosphere. I forgot my phone somewhere inside, and they were nice enough to take it and make sure I got it back even after they closed! Thank you so much!!! どうもありがとうございます ! 🤲📿🙏 It’s very appreciated :^)
I always buy my records here and they never dissapoint
A clean, well lit, record store with friendly staff does exist and this is it! They have a good selection of used and new vinyl, and give fair prices for used records.
Wait… how have I never reviewed Seasick Records?? I mean, these folks are the Best and have taken care of my needs for a great deal of time. Anytime I need a specific vinyl they come through! They even indulge me in my helpless need to make sure anyone around me learns at least 2-3 Prince facts a day! They get my business first and foremost. Thanks Dan, Brenton, & the rest of the team. 💜👍🏽
Great vinyl shop. Nice selection, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They can order almost anything for you if you don’t see what you want. There’s a reason people say they are the best vinyl shop in Alabama. Also, the most organized and well stocked store for Record Store Day.
Ordered from Seasick during the most recent Record Store Day. They processed and shipped my order incredibly quickly and it arrived in great condition. Will definitely be purchasing from them in the future. Highly Recommended!
This place is a real gem in Birmingham. It’s comparable to record stores in larger cities, but still quaint and charming with a hometown feel. They sell new and used vinyl/CDs, have in-store performances, support local community organizations, and are just all around chill, awesome people. The staff goes above and beyond to help you get the music you want — they will definitely hold and special order for you. This place is for anyone — from someone just getting into collecting to the seasoned vets of collecting rare, hard to find, albums. Definitely worth hitting up if you’re in and around Birmingham! ❤️
Great local record store in Birmingham. Staff is friendly and helpful. They have a good selection of items and aren't judgmental if you are a Swiftie :D :p
Great new location, same excellent selection and customer service. I have shopped online and had purchases shipped, done curbside pickup, and made a shopping appointment and had the store almost to myself- whatever way you shop, Seasick is only down with a sick selection of vinyl. Thanks for keeping your health and safety standards top notch for your staff and customers!! There's a reason I shop a Birmingham record store, while I live in California ☆☆☆☆☆
Awesome selection, good prices, great staff. If you enjoy music in a physical format, this should be the first place you check, every time. At this point I average at least one trip here a week.
This jewel of a place is quite a haul from where I live, but I try to make a visit every two weeks because it is worth it. Since opening a few years ago Daniel and the folks at Seasick have made continuous improvements in their selection and customer engagement. They have a knowledgeable staff and have even begun to clean some of the more unique and valuable used records. Unlike some record stores, they actually sell some new turntables that will not ruin your recordings. I wish they were twice the size and half the distance from my house.
This is a great local store ran by great people who care about their local community. You can stop by and peruse both new and used records, get a haircut or strike up an interesting conversation. They also put on great live shows from both local and touring acts along with art shows and other things of the like. It's truly a great record store.
This place is fantastic. I purchased an album that is very hard to find. Plus, John Prine’s brand new album. Went back a week later and bought a really good turn table. Great place and the staff is very helpful too. I like that there’s a barber shop- like old school style tucked inside.
Welcoming, open-minded, knowledgeable, friendly, helpful staff :-) I have to admit that i was a little intimidated by all the vinyl hipsters the first few times I visited. Turns out they are neither snooty nor overpriced and offer a good but not disorienting selection of vinyls. Local section could be expanded.
Finally had a chance to stop by Seasick and was glad I had. Beautiful shop with tons of great stuff to choose from at very fair prices. Hope I get to stop by and shop longer next time.
Great record store, prices are fair and they have a very eclectic selection of used and new records. They also sell CDs and turntables. The owner, Dan, is super friendly as are the staff and they are involved in community events. I have been in record stores all over the country, they are not one of the larger ones but they are one of the best.
I love this place!! And the people there are the best!
Probably one of my favorite record stores I’ve visited as to date. Such a wide selection of records and I love the atmosphere!
Seasick is a great environment. I get my haircut from AP and I always look forward to my appointment. He gives a great cut, and it is always fun to look at the new records on the shelves. I have also seen a concert at Seasick and it is a nice intimate venue. Everyone is friendly and helpful. One of my favorite places in Birmingham.
These guys are great! Daniel does a great job of remembering my favorite bands and past purchases so he can recommend re-issues, new releases, and new music that I am bound to enjoy. if they don't have it in stock, he will make sure to order it for you. A lot of store are real snooty, but I have never felt an ounce of judgment from them!
Small record store, also has a barber shop inside the store. Not really a huge selection to pick from. Had a few CD's . Employees didn't really greet, but not a big deal.
First time in the store today, everything was organized and easy to find. Absolutely loved the vibe, couldn't ask for better
Love the new location! It's much roomier, and definitely ready for a show once Covid passes. Though I always have a great experience here, I'm mostly leaving a review because of the pandemic.
The staff here is 100% in adherence to Covid-19 guidelines. Everyone working is wearing masks and gloves. No mask, no entry. Someone meets you at the door to sanitize your hands and offer gloves.
Newman's Classic Cuts is also following these guidelines, and ensuring a safe distance between customers.
Everyone was happy to be there, and happy to see customers.
I shave my own head and missed a giant spot, my wife was laughing so hard she was crying but these guys hooked me up and shaved it for me. Today is my birthday and I couldn't be walking around with a patch of hair on the back of my head. The staff was super friendly!
Nice record store over in the Crestwood area of town. No gripes here, but don't go expecting to shop if they have somebody performing in store. My first experience happened to be on record store day and it was loud with tons of people standing in the way at each of the bins. This store isn't huge and the selection isn't massive, but that's ok. There's used, select genres in new, 45s, comps, and a cd listening station and everything is organized alphabetically. The store's vibe is pretty cool as they tend to spin some of their personal favs. If you like what you here, ask em about it. Also, they will order anything you don't wanna order yourself. There's an in house barber as well. I've never gone in and not seen somebody get their hair cut. May be a good sign!
Go check out the store if you're into records and such!
I don't know much, but I know I love Seasick Records! This store has everything: great records, superb staff, excellent barbers, and no one even mentioned my mole when I was there. I hope they will let me and my brothers play there one day. Let me tell it like it is, Seasick records is the best. Everybody plays the fool sometimes, but don't be a fool by passing up on this place.
Seasick is more than just a great record store, the owner and his staff have built a sense of community in their new space. I love going in on the weekends while Newman is cutting hair and Daniel is helping people find whatever they might be looking for. It is just a fun place to hang out while flipping through records. Seasick also has a stage where they regularly have local artists play. With a coffee shop next door and a new pizza place in front, this little shopping mall has become quite a destination.
The staff is very easygoing and always does a great job recommending new artists based on what you like to play. They also do a great job of keeping an interesting mix of new releases and used vinyl they pick up at estate sales.
Our favorite record store it's quite unique they have a barber shop inside and live music. Need a haircut, new music or just hangout and jam it's never a dull moment.
I was suggested by a friend to get a haircut here, and boy I'm glad I gave them a try! It is a really hip record store with two barbers setup on the side. I get my hair cut by Newman. He does old school and new school cuts with traditional barber techniques.
Great selection of vinyls and I enjoy scouring through the discount bins, but the quantity of the selection seems to be on the lower side. Very friendly and helpful staff that always make me feel welcome.
Seasick Records is more than just a record store. It's a community gathering place. Not only can you shop for the best in new and used vinyl records, you can get a haircut, play pinball, and even see shows from up and coming acts in their spacious performing space. Their friendly staff make this a truly great spot to shop. I only wish that there was more thrash-emo-jazz fusion music on their playlist. 5 stars.
My favorite record store in Birmingham. Cool staff, and great selection of vinyl. Picked up Maidens Number Of The Beast and A Cheap Trick Record store day vinyl...Jackpot!!
Very nice and friendly and treat you like a friend not just patient. Scott was very knowledgeable and willing to share his knowledge. No question unanswered no Matt how trivial. I am certainly glad my doctor referred me to Back in Motion.
Fantastic independent record store. Great selection of used and new vinyl. You can also get a haircut there.
Daniel started Seasick in a tiny part of an old building and had grown it into a very nice music store. Lots of records and CDs. New and old and nice folks working there. Highly recommend.
You cannot ask for a better selection of records, especially their used bins. Everything is very organized with new records weekly.
They have a great selection of records. I was able to find quite a few things I've been looking for. Really enjoyed the experience.
Dan was able to help me pull off a surprise birthday gift for my son today on Record Store Day as well as my sons birthday! Thank you Dan for your kindness and pulling this off for me!
Great record collection, record's are not organized the best but are not bad and some records are pricey
Engaged and educated staff who love to help, fantastic selection of both new and old material, and an overall great vibe!
They have a huge variety and good selection.
An amazing selection of Records. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
I make it a priority to visit Seasick every time I am in Bham from Cali. Dan is particularly fantastic, helping me get some vinyl from local/southern artists that don't always make it out to the west coast.
Newman's classic cuts is what I visit Seasick for but they have a great collection of new and vintage records. AP Swayze is also the best barber around
Seasick rules! They almost always have what I'm looking for and if they don't they'll order it and the prices and competitive enough that I'd rather buy it there than online. The staff is always helpful and knowledgable and I love the atmosphere!
We are lucky to have Seasick Records in our neighborhood. Great store, friendly staff, good selection of new and used albums.
Nice enough small record shop, not the largest selection and just IMHO not the best priced but I am so used to and likely spoiled by $4 and $5 mint used albums from my local North East Florida shops.
Wonderful store! Cool people!
laid back atmosphere and great people. more than just a record store it's a good place to socialize and on occasion catch awesome local bands and art shows.
I stop in as much as I can
Really nice vibe....most small record stores are very pretentious, but everyone here is very warm and welcoming.
Small record store with a great sound. live band was wonderful still pines. very good band. I will be back and you should go to

A really cool place to buy records at. And i met Erra there that day!! So I can't help but give it a 5 star review!
Fantastic selection of records they had everything I was looking for which is rare for a record store! Awesome t-shirts as well!
Great selection, gorgeous atmosphere, and the folks behind the counter had solid recommendations.
Ordered a RSD title (Cro-Mags AGE OF QUARREL represent!) and arrived in 3 days, perfectly packaged, thanks Seasick!
I bring my records in on Saturday 20 minutes until closing. The guy at the counter refuses to look at them and p
to come back the next day, that they'll be open at 12 not to mention he has a fema
Always a great selection and the staff is awesome.
Great store. Nice selection of good condition vinyl.

This place is so cool. I went up here to get a record for my dad and ended up getting a couple for myself!
So helpful! Getting our kids set up w a turntable. Newman and staff knew EXACTLY how to get us started!
Call ahead for an appointment on your way there, they'll accommodate.
Awesome place to find a new album and they have an online store!
People there were nice and helpful. Prices were good. Even had a dollar section.

Perfection
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Seasick is the only record store for me <3 Some indie stores can be openly misogynistic towards female customers just based on what kind of music they listen to. I have to say . . . Seasick Records is outstanding. They are so helpful and kind, and will do whatever they can to help you find the record that you want, even if that means sending your to another seller! Will buy my music here forever.
I dig this place. I left early because I spent way too much. So go to seasick. Sorry for the short review but I spent way too much money. That's how many records they have new and on sale.
Cutest little shop and the staff are genuine and great.
Intersecting place
