John Kirk is my go-to guy for repairs and rehairs. He does great work, and is always accommodating of my schedule. A trip to John’s place not only promises better functioning hardware, but also interesting and informative conversation. To top all of this; he makes FANTASTIC instruments!!

Excellent luthier. Brought him an old violin I thought was beyond repair and he was able to get it up and working. I would absolutely recommend him for any repair!

I needed to have a new bridge made and to get a new bow and strings. Because I had to travel several hundred miles, the Kirks were even willing meet me outside of regular business hours. They were extremely quick and got the repairs done overnight. Super knowledgeable, professional, friendly and helpful, this is a wonderful resource for anyone who plays a stringed instrument.

John did a fabulous job restoring my 150 year old violin! His work is extremely professional and finished the work in the time quoted. I highly recommend John to anybody requiring work or restoration of their violin. On a side note, his wife Janny, who runs their retail store, is a joy to work with as well as an extremely accomplished violinist! I wish to thank her for helping me pick out a bow and case for my newly refurbished instrument.

Went in today and was very pleased with the service... it has been a number of years since I played and had been a number of years without an instrument. They looked pass the rusty fumbling fingure and help match an instrument to my trained ear... not the rust. I was so grateful as I was nervous and didn't know how well my fingures would respond beforehand. We also were able to match it with a bow that really brought out the violas beautiful deep tones.
We were also very happy to find my husband a beautifully restored violin. They even made sure we could find a case to fit it... because as it turns out it had slightly unique dimensions for a violin, but along with those unique features comes a beautiful clear singing voice.
We are very grateful for the time they took to fit both instruments and to help us outfit both. They were very personable and very knowledgeable. They have a high quality standard. Thank you very much!!! We very much would recommend them and will be back! ... as I forgot Bach Cello Suites... oops.

Kirk Violins recently helped re-hair my violin bow. John and David truly went above and beyond! Their communication was responsive and friendly. The shipping process was a breeze (thanks David), and I'm now set-up with a shipping tube for future re-hairs! My bow looks, and feels, great! I will definitely return to Kirk Violins for help in the future!

Thank you, John, for your excellent work repairing and rehairing my bow. I especially appreciated your craftsmanship, how promptly you did the work, and the extra calls to make sure it would be exactly what I needed. Thank you again.

I have been shopping here since before they moved to this new location, and the service has always been excellent. I rented my first violin here in 2002, and bought one in 2004. It has lasted me through years of lessons, rehearsals, auditions, and music camps, and, before I head off to college, I will be purchasing another.
As far as violins go in the Billings area, these guys are top notch. John Kirk has been in the business for years and definitely knows what he's doing. Countless friends of mine and even members of the Billings Symphony play instruments from Kirk House of Music. They have a wide assortment of cases, bows, sheet music, and other accessories, and everyone from a novice musician to a professional will find what they need here. (Even if they don't have it in the store, they won't hesitate to order you what you need.)
The Kirks are outgoing and friendly, and they're quite good at hiring employees that are friendly and outwardly willing to help you with what you need. The ladies that teach lessons here are also fantastic.
I have never had a bad experience while shopping here, and I would recommend Kirk House of Music to any string player, young or old, as well as anyone in need of any sort of music or accessories.
Billings, you are lucky to have these guys!

I’ve never gone shopping for a violin as an adult. I played in elementary school, but quit playing in 1993. I just started learning again, and I’m still playing on my student violin that I have had since the 90’s. I’ve been wanting to check out new violins, and since we were in town I decided to stop by and just check out Kirk Violins. I was so nervous to go in. I didn’t feel like I would be good enough to even try out any violins. Janny was so sweet from the moment I walked in, and made me feel so comfortable to play and try out several of her beautiful violins. I wasn’t able
to make a purchase today, but I definitely will be back to get a new violin soon.
