Great selection, hands down the best record store me&my husband have ever been to even compared to Denver! You could spend hours in here getting lost in all their amazing selections both old and new. The area surrounding the store is also pretty sweet, having lots of culture, more stores and lots of artwork. Def worth going!

This store is freaking phenomenal! The entire store inside is always perfectly organized clean and very functional. The few staff that I have interacted with were very welcoming very very knowledgeable about the content and merchandise and very eager and willing to help customers as soon as you enter. I have sold just a couple of things there and found that the purchase offer that I was given was definitely fair and better than quite a few other stores I visited. Of course the location of the store is good and bad. Good being because it's in the famous Little five points Atlanta which is a freaking fantastic area to visit adds shop. The bad part about the store's location is there is never any freaking parking. There are a few perfect parking spots directly in front of the store on the street but your chances of grabbing one of those is slim to none on most days. So you're left to park down the street behind a few other stores in a paid parking lot where paying to park is strictly enforced. Parking without paying 99% of the time is definitely going to get you a $150 boot on your wheel. Most of the time as soon as you walk away the parking lot attendant is getting out of his car with the boot on his way Boot your car. They sit in the parking lot in unmarked cars most of the time. So take my advice please please pay that meter. Don't take your chances. Sorry one more con is there is another parking lot behind criminal records, it's in a very tight spot and it's usually full but I would definitely say be very cautious and careful about parking back there there's usually about three to four car break-ins a day so definitely make that your last option I would say. So that's my review I don't have much experience with the store. I hope some of the information I posted will help someone. Overall fantastic store! I highly recommend

This is one of mine and my son's favorite stores. Clean, good selection & quality. They also have a small selection of comics and manga. Some of the used vinyl is graded (à la discogs). Sometimes will have live music. Cool place.

Lots of great records and not like your typical vinyl store with a bunch of mediocre dusty records from your grandparents' collection. Most of these albums are dust free and modern. I do wish the staff was a bit more pretentious.

Look, I know I am hella late, to the Vinyl Record game but, betta late than neva! I truly enjoyed coming here!! I am a newly enthusiast for Vinyl and I AM IN LOVE!! My Father owned one, when I was a baby. So I knew, I wanted one. I purchased three Vinyl records from here along with some Edifier speakers, to hook up to my record player. I cannot believe I have waited this long but YOU GOTTA check this place out. Support your local record store! This place is awesome sauce!!!

Asked for You're No Good on record, then when I went to play it I got dropped down into some lair for "The Vicious 6." There, I got to meet some lady with an Afro, a guy with a lobster claw, a nun, and many more. Five stars would definitely recommend.

Dope record store in little 5 - they have tons of records,cds, and lots of cool memorabilia and posters/prints. It’s a small space so they are requiring everyone to wear masks while inside. Employees are friendly and welcoming will help you find anything you are looking for and even order stuff for you if they don’t have it in store. Nice to have a brick and mortar record store in Atlanta and this one has been here forever.

What a place! My wife and I stopped in during our visit to Atlanta. Great jazz and blues vinyl selection. Staff is really friendly and helpful. I appreciate they were limiting capacity. It only resulted in a five minute wait (on a Saturday) to get into the store. Even with limiting capacity, I did not feel rushed while shopping.

They have great COVID protocols in place. My son and I waited about ten minutes to get inside, but it is well worth the wait. Great selection of records. They also had a small collection of graphic novels. It was a great experience for any audiophile. Look forward to visiting on next trip to Atlanta.

Prices are MUCH better here compared to prices online. The staff like most other stores in L5P were really nice, and the records I bought were easy to find. I also liked how they limit the amount of customers allowed inside. Big record store with a really good selection from all sorts of genres and music. There were tons of new and used records but also some rare finds and even cool bootlegs/unofficial records. The store also sells posters, CDs and other merch. I was able to buy an MF DOOM record for a really good price that was cheaper than buying it from online stores. The staff was also friendly and helpful!!

The staff is super helpful and enforces covid policies which I appreciate. I've been to two record store days now(get there early like 6am) as well as a concert and they do an amazing job with that too! The only pain is parking but that's atl for ya!

I've been coming here so long, I remember when Criminal was next to Junkman's Daughter. Anyway, this is such a great store and always has been. Not only do they have a gargantuan selection of music but they have comics, Funko's and so much more. If you visit here and don't end up buying something...you've failed at life. The staff has always been cool and the store is very rarely not busy. It's definitely got a great vibe to it and it's a must visit for anyone from out of town. About the only thing I can critique them negatively on is the pricing of some of the used vinyl. I've found it hard to pay $7-9 for a record with a lot of visible wear (and why I gave 4-stars) So, rather than buying vinyl...I rack up the savings in the CD section! Anyway, don't let my nit-pick on vinyl prevent you from visiting (I'm very picky and was a buyer for 10 years)...you need to go and pay these guys a visit.

Great prices for vinyl! I love going through the older, used vinyls which they have up front and in the back. They sell them for pretty cheap. The greatest part about record stores is you’ll never know what classics you might find. I’m always on the lookout for Rush records, but I never seem to find any. But I’m able to settle for some underrated records.

I love this record store. Everything is pretty organized for the most part. The staff does what they can to help whenever possible. Covid has caused a longer than normal wait since they have to limit the amount of people in the store at a time, but that’s the only downside.

Always good for some hard to find stuff. The above was written a few years ago, now it's "eh". Like many other people with joint bank accounts I may try to use a debit card that has the spouses name on it, or even a card that doesn't have a name on it. Nope. Not at Criminal. The card that you use must have your name on it with matching ID or you're not welcome to shop there. I get it. It's a security thing for them but there should be another way. When you've been going somewhere for 10+ years and they know you on sight, you should be able to use whatever debit or credit card you want. Oh well, whatever. If you know a particular album has been out for a while and you want it, you may want to whip out your phone and check the version on Discogs and check reviews. If I had a dollar for every low quality, over priced bootleg that I've bought from there without prior knowledge I'd have, I don't know, like 50 bucks. Really! If I can add a picture later I'll add a picture of all of my "this sounds horrible was it pressed in some kids basement for a school project?" collection. Some of those things I would actually still buy if I knew ahead of time, but not necessarily for the price that I got charged in the long run.

I come here any time I'm in Atlanta. Great selection of new and used vinyl, CDs, and tapes. Comic selection is massive too. But I always find myself drooling over the Orange amplifiers that are in the back of the store.

Criminal has a great selection of new and used vinyl and cds as well as comics, graphic novels, and new magazines. In the before times they hosted regular in-store band appearances. The only knock against Criminal is the inconsistency in how they label their used vinyl. They use a sticky note and write the release year of the album and the condition of the vinyl. Sometimes they list whether it's an original pressing or a repressing but often times, at least for what I've purchased, they only label the release year. You can get burned on the pricier records if you think you're buying an original pressing but you are actually buying a later pressing, especially when they charge a premium for their used vinyl compared to other record stores in the area. This could depend on which staff member is doing the grading and research but it is wildly inconsistent.

This is one of those places everyone is happy to have around and has really become a staple of the area. This place does a lot vinyls, cds, comics, toys, and what seems to be everything else. The staff is a big meh to me everyone I go. Never really nice and helpful, but never terrible. The store is clean and feels like a safe place. I'm glad it's here.

One thing I can say about Criminal Records. The prices can be Criminal. They have a large selection considering they don't just do vinyl, but the prices are just too high. I like going to the store to pick up vinyl vs. Having it shipped. And some times a 1 or 3 dollars hit is not bad. In in many cases I have seen them as high as $7.00 or more. On used good conditions vinyl. Not to mention I bought brand new vinyl that was warped. Yes it happens sometimes, but for premium price. Nah. They are on the list... But for sure not my first choice.

New vinyl selection is very good. Used selection is disorganized and bloated with thrift store titles nobody wants. The dude that generally hangs around the rear of the shop is awesome, knowledgeable, and friendly. The other clerks are generally snobby and aloof. Really unfair with trade value, which I find annoying and disrespectful.

I live walkable distance from Criminal, and it is a daily challenge not to come and explore the racks all the time. The more record stores I visit, the more elite I realize this pillar of Little 5 truly is. And only half of the store is records! They have a massive collection of comics and CDs too. The vibe here - between the customers and the staff - is one of focus and a certain seriousness about the entire vinyl realm. Of note, this is a pricier record store. The premium reflects the facilities and selection, which in my opinion, is worth it.

If you’re a music or comic nerd, a visit to Criminal Records is a must. My husband and I bought two records (even though we’re about to move overseas and won’t be able to take them with us) during our visit. I loved checking out the books, comics and artwork here as well. Though Little Five Points is a pretty touristy area, there are some other nifty shops, bars, and restaurants to visit.

The store is nice enough for people with a passing interest, but overall the used selection is weak, and the prices are out of touch, even compared to other local shops. New record prices are as much as 30%+ over what they should be, and used prices 20-50% over. It's nice to have a local shop with extreme metal(prog death, melodeath, black metal, etc..) though. Bottom line is, for people who buy hundreds of records a year it's unreasonable to pay what they're asking.

Criminal Records is as I'm sure it always was and shall always be, a magical place full of mythical creatures called genuinely nice people! The staff is cool af as far as I've encountered and verybody has always been helpful. I've never felt watched, harrassed or suspected. The selection is vast in all categories including, CD's, records, comicbooks, Pop! vinyls, t-shirts, patches, pins and more! This has quickly become one of my favorite places since I've moved to Georgia. It reminds me of a genuine old school record store but with all the modern pop culture trappings. I highly recommend Criminal Records if only just for the environment.

Some of the staff are super friendly, a couple act bored toward customers, but the overall vibe that owner Eric has cultivated since 1991 is quirky / indie / music knowledgeable and leaning toward good selection and service; the manager Lillian is awesome at working with customers. I love Criminal Records. Excellent selection of new and recent vinyl (and CD) releases and pretty good back catalog. They also have a large comic section with some toys and collectibles. I stopped going here for Record Store Day because it's just too crazy (people start lining up at 4am or earlier). That said, they do have the best RSD selection so if there's something your really, really, REALLY have to have you can almost certainly find it there on RSD assuming you line up early enough. Their prices aren't the best but also not unreasonable, and their employees are typically friendly and extremely helpful (unlike Wax'n'Facts, sorry). As a bonus, Criminal has occasionally run promotions giving away concert tickets with album purchases which is awesome and they have cool in-store performances and record release parties pretty regularly.

The ONLY reason I'm giving this place less than 5 stars is because I think it could be cleaner. I'm currently recovering from a dust allergy attack from last visit. I mean, it's DUSTY. Always a favorite of mine. Atlanta has many fantastic record stores but Criminal is a landmark shop in Atlanta. They sell compact discs, vinyl records and music memorabilia as well as comic books and other fun stuff. The prices are comprable for an inner-city record Shop and the extra dollar you may spend there is totally worth it due to the quality of even their used vinyl records. I couldn't imagine Atlanta without Criminal Records.

It's kind of amazing this place even exists. A comic book store, record retailer, skate shop and concert venue all rolled into one, it's a great spot to have as part of the community. The drawbacks are it's a little overpriced, the staff is a little snarky and you have to go all the way to five points to find anything like it. There will always be haters... Criminal is a solid record shop, yeah their prices can be a little higher than other retailers at times but I'll gladly pay for that upcharge for the satisfaction of being able to walk into a shop, select some new vinyl, & not have to wait several days to get it. Never had an issue with their customer service, I try not to interact with sales people too often unless I am being stupid and can't find something & they have always been helpful. Five stars for Criminal.

It's not what it used to be, but it's still cool. The staff looks like they leapt right out of the pages of a 90's era Peter Bagge comic, which totally adds to the experience. As others noted, there is no restroom available. So if you drink a pitcher of beer and then browse here, you're screwed. I can't blame the store for this, because use your imagination on what could happen in a bathroom in this place. Lmao.

Altho these days I’m on Discogs, I always loved popping in & diggin’ around. I remember the 1st time I entered the cozy environment (as a teenager exploring ATL) they were playing the most, sublime recording on the PA... I inquired what it was: Jon Hassell and Brian Eno 🐐🐐🌊 I even caught Dino Jr’s acoustic set before their show at Variety. Classic store in the heart of Little 5; bring back the electronic/exp/avant-garde section!💯

I called in to ask about a particular book, to which the employee (who shall remain nameless) reported they did not have it. HOWEVER, he pointed me into multiple directions to going about obtaining this particular book, possibly due to his mutual interest in the content. That’s good customer service. I’m more inclined to stop by or say good things about CR by word of mouth, even though by extreme extent this employee is potentially risking driving away business. Theoretical -1 star for not having deeper tabletop gaming related goods, BUT it’s a record store; I was grasping at straws in the first place.

I remember when I first saw the name Criminal Records in a newspaper, it intrigued me. I laughed at the double meaning of it....and couldn't wait to visit this place that was both a record shop and a comicbook store. I believe my earliest visit to CR was in 2010 or 2011. Here I met a good friend, who is now an comic artist with credits from Image, Marvel and DC under her belt.
