We love this place. They always make us feel welcome and are very kid-friendly: like as long as kid is respectful of the instruments and redirectable when needed, it’s all good. All the staff are super knowledgeable and patient, which is great for me as a mom who doesn’t know much about instruments, but wants to support our 6 yo kid in his drumming passion. They can order stuff for us if they don’t have it in store, and always call to tell us when it’s been ordered and when it’s available for pick up. Truly Can’t speak highly enough of this Asheville staple. So grateful for them! And for all the customers who keep them in business. Avl wouldn’t be the same without this place.

I went in on the fly for a repair on my electric guitar and Mark, thier staff luthier saw that I needed a soldering job done on the input jack. He handle the task very quickly and was super friendly and knowledgeable. I have shopped here for years. I highly recommend for all your music needs, big and small.

Brian at Musicians Workshop has taken care of everything I’ve asked on multiple guitars, quickly and in a very professional manner. Gets back to me when he says he will or sooner. Brian also has a very broad knowledge base. If he doesn’t know the answer or isn’t sure, he finds out very quickly and moves forward. I wish I could get my healthcare from him : )

Working with the staff at Musician's Workshop has been the most satisfying experience with a business I have had in many years. Graham was very engaging and helpful in explaining and arranging a setup service for my Strat. The work was completed much faster than expected and I was contacted personally by the luthier Mark, who reviewed what he did and answered my questions. And Graham was again very gracious when I picked up the guitar. I have been in other music stores where the attitude of the staff is more one of arrogance and condescension, which is hugely off-putting to someone working to become a better musician. Not so at Musician's Workshop! Quite the opposite, actually. Thank you very much and I look forward to doing business again!

I don't usually write reviews, but I felt I needed to write this one. I brought my Taylor 12 string in with some neck issues and met with Mark. He went over the problem with me and recommended a neck adjustment and set up. He was very up front with what was to be done; when it would be done and how much it would cost. Done, done and done. Friendly, courteous, prompt, professional and fair. I picked my guitar up on Monday and now - 2 days later, I can't walk by it without picking it up. It's fun to play again - as good as, if not better than, the day I bought it. Thank you, Mark. You and the rest of the staff are the best I've ever encountered - and I'm 75 years old.

This place has been around for a long time for a reason. It is so much better than the big box alternative across town. They have pretty much everything you need. The sales staff is never intrusive. If you need help they are very knowledgable and attentive, actually trying to solve your problem rather than sell you something. My only gripes -- the wait times to get a guitar set-up can get a little long, and i wish they had a broader selection of $$$ guitars -- but the enemy of excellence is perfection....

Locally owned! Always super helpful and honest. I've bought products and used their repair services quite a few times. Brought one of my electrics in the other day for some work by the onsite Luthier. Turned out that one of the work items I thought was an issue and requested be fixed really wasn't the problem. They found the real issue, fixed the guitar and bill was $30 cheaper than I was originally quoted. A+

I bought an amp from these guys yesterday with the help of Bond. I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted but after talking with him, he set up 4 separate amps for me to switch between until I found what I was looking for. I got a great price and a rocking amp. This is my second time going there and it will not be my last. Both times I’ve been, I’ve had honest and friendly help without having to track anyone down or beg for assistance. Could not be happier with the service I received. Don’t let this place pass you by.

I was bored with my 10+ year old telecaster. I felt like the tone options weren’t that great and was only playing in the neck position. I contact Mark Toolan about some modifications and he was a tremendous help. He worked with me to find out what I was looking for and then figured out a way to make it happen. We ended up doing several mods on it and it sounds amazing. It’s back to being my #1 guitar. I highly recommend Mark for any guitar work.

Really happy with both the repair and customer service. I had a pretty nasty headstock break and Mark fixed it up BEAUTIFULLY! You can barely notice the break anymore. This was the second time I got this specific break repaired and it was so much better than the first time/place I got it fixed. 100% recommend to anyone!

Probably the best in town but that isn't a very high bar. I went today to buy a Taylor guitar and left, empty handed and unsatisfied...again. I'd like to do business locally but... They have a pretty good ukulele selection and knowledgeable sales staff.

Folks in there are knowledgeable and polite. I bought a guitar from them and they gave me a free setup which is nice. They have a well stocked pedal case full of awesome Electro-Harmonix pedals. I live in Asheville so I visit them often. Give them a shot they are a good business.

Looking to pick the guitar back up after twenty years, I did some shopping around. Just needed something simple and basic I started at pawn shops looking for a $100 acoustic guitar. I did find a couple at a couple different places, but I decided to check out the actual music shops as well. Finding my way to Musicians Workshop, I walked in slightly overwhelmed with the amazing selection, but everything seemed a bit too pricey, just enough for my learn on guitar. Until I found this 3/4 size Ibanez kit with a case and tuner. I decided to purchase it, the guys at the counter, both very helpful. The one guy pulled it out of the box and started tuning it, then realized that the neck needed some adjusting, he adjusted it and then wasn't overall happy with the action and asked me to grab another of the same guitar. He went over the same inspection of this one, got it perfectly tuned and tuned up. Ended up spending about $140 on the whole thing (BRAND NEW). The point of this review is that I could have gone to another place, bought a guitar and walked out with a smile not knowing the AMAZING service I would have gotten at this place. I recommend this shop to anyone looking for a great experience.

This music shop has a wide selection of acoustic, electric, and bass guitars. Also have a good selection of banjos, ukeleles, mandolins, drums, amps, and steroes. They are very helpful here and aren't pushy about buying instruments. They also do repairs and change strings. The man who changed mine did it in the less than ten minutes. If you are going to guitar center consider Musician's Workshop to sopport local business with just as good quality.
