Reviews of Heyday Musical Instruments & Repair
Brought my 40’s vintage Electar amp that had many issues and they did a fantastic job repairing it. Brian made it sound great and took the time to explain everything to me. I am so thankful that a shop like this exists to repair vintage amps.
Super nice guys, very helpful and honest. I have had trouble getting that kind of service in other music stores and these guys truly care about great service and getting you home with the right gear.
I’ve been in a couple times and always have had good experiences. I sold a few pedals and received a very fair offer for them. Most recently I was guitar shopping and the staff here really took the time to understand what I was looking for and made some suggestions based on what they had. They pulled a bunch down for me to try. Truly a top notch experience.
Great selection of new and (some) vintage. People walking in to sell their gear. Worth checking out!
Lots of cool vintage stuff sold me an amp for a very reasonable price and staff were nice and very helpful.
It’s a cool shop with some cool gear. Prices are pretty high. People there seem to never be in a good mood which kind of kills the vibe
Came here while on a family trip to Asheville and fell in love with this shop immediately. The owner and every employee I interacted with was so welcoming, kind and super knowledgeable about music!
The gear in the store is a mix of new (pedals, cables, etc) and used/vintage amps and instruments. I ended up leaving with a new (to me) lap steel guitar after demoing it for a while in the shop. This place gets 6 stars if it were possible!
came here for a routine setup on my SG, thing was all out of wack (intonation, inconsistent action, buzzing, dirty jack/pots etc.) They did an awesome job - it’s never played or sounded so good! also want to point out that they called me before doing some necessary additional repairs to get my approval, which I always see as a sign of an honest business. Their prices are great too, I’ll be getting all my guitars + equipment serviced here in the future. Would definitely recommend doing business with them
What a cool place in Asheville!!! Awesome guitars and super cool shop!!!!
Favorite vintage and all around music store. Great work is done in the shop there. I can vouch! Guitar selection is amazing and prices are definitely fair. Perfect place to get your amp repaired, especially older ones. All sorts of cool things to find here that you won't anywhere else. Don't skip this one! It's a gem for sure.
Great selection of vintage guitars and gear... awesome boutique pedals, super helpful, unpretentious staff, repair services have saved my butt a couple times!
I noticed a couple of negative (one star) reviews of Heyday, but I can only base my review on my own experience. They serviced two tube amps for me, a Fender Blues Jr. and a Marshall Haze 40. I was shown exactly what the problems were before repair was done, and the repairs were exactly as identified, with no surprises. They spot soldered weak connections, installed new tubes, set bias and did a thorough check of all parts and components. I was very satisfied with both the work done, the prices charged and the quick turn-around. Both amps had been 'serviced' by another place previously, and neither was really fixed, with problems recurring soon afterwards. Heyday did it the right way. Good results equal repeat business.
Had a great experience here. I'd been on the lookout for a new acoustic and stopped in when I was driving through a couple weeks ago. It's mostly electric guitars, but there were a few good acoustics too. I've been waiting for the guitar that "just feels right" and lo and behold, there was a 1960s Kay that was exactly that. They were patient with all my questions about owning & maintaining a vintage instrument, and it was clear that they were excited about that guitar too - I never felt like they were trying to push a sale. Prices seem fair too. Nice gem of a store.
Overall selection and prices are amazingly good and better than anywhere else.
I also cannot say enough about the owner he’s very friendly and a pleasure to do business with. Really happy.
My favorite music store in Asheville! Always a great selection at reasonable prices and a tech on staff! Also has a great location on Lexington. Park and walk to a ton of great destinations in the downtown area including the Moog museum. Anyone who loves this store is sure to love the location!
Nice, clean, complete (solid body) guitar repair/modification done with alacrity and at minimum expense. Job I needed required woodwork and sober soldering, result was all I might ask with proper attention to detail. Good stand-up folks, by my experience—couldn’t be more pleased, and I’m a well-known stickler.
Brian, Charles, and the entire band at Heyday are the absolute best. Knowledgeable, kind, and super cool friends that will either help you find the perfect sound or straighten out your favorite gear. There are not enough words to suggest that this local shop is the _only_ place you should spend your money. Thanks for everything, guys, you're the best!
I love music stores with hidden treasures you won't find anywhere else..like the 3 original tweed Fender amps I just saw at Heyday.Great selection of used and vintage gear, knowledgable staff with onsite amp repair.
I cannot say enough about this shop. They have the best selection of vintage and otherwise supercool stringed instruments as well as amps. Not to mention, they also have a wonderful variety of boutique effect pedals. Charles is friendly and clearly passionate/knowledgable regarding not only the items for sale but music in general. Brian is not only friendly and easy to talk to when he is out front but a superb and I cannot stress this enough, an absolute master technician. I urge any out of towners visiting Asheville to swing by and check out their selection. I urge locals to support a wonderful local true blue Asheville business.
Amazing shop full of all kinds of great, unique amps and instruments. Dangerous if you love small tube amps. Super nice and knowledgeable staff. Would highly recommend to anyone on the quest for tone.
I have a late 60's SG that I wanted to have the caps replaced in and the wiring slightly altered to 50's style. Even though it was a relatively small job they took it seriously and did a great, very clean and professional job. Couldn't be happier with the quality of the workmanship and in finding folks interested in keeping the older gear going.
Dropped of my Bad Cat amp for a quick repair and they did a super job of turning it around and pointing out a small thing it needed. Asked first. Super friendly folks as well.
When I saw this place, I didn't expect much, but when I went inside I was blown away. It was full of high quality, vintage guitar gear. Really great store, and it has reasonable prices too.
Top notch, professional tube amplifier repair. I brought two guitar amplifiers (Supro and an Oahu) to them for repair. Besides being older then I am, the amplifiers were losing tone due to failing components. Their work was of the highest quality which I noticed as soon as I cranked them at home. For me, this is the place for tube amplifier repair.
These guys are awesome! Great deals. Knowledgable staff. And what impressed me the most is their customer service. They are extremely reasonable down to earth individuals! Definitely worth checking out what they have in stock [as it is always changing].
This little shoppe has a great, choice selection of gear- folks are kind and full of helpful knowledge. I highly recommend their retail operation and repairs division!!! Super happy with my "new" Yairi!!! Thanks a ton!!
Great experience having my amp repaired here...awesome staff/communication, short turnaround and perfect pricing!
They did a good job on replacing a fuse holder in a tube amp. Price was a little high since I provided the part, but all in all decent.
This is my favorite clothing brand. I live in my Heyday sweatshirt and get complements daily.
Love this place for decent deals on vintage gear. Knowledgeable staff.
This place is the best music store around. Great gear, great people, great business.
I love this place! Great staff -- smart cool and relaxed. I wish this place was in my town. You're spoiled, Asheville.
