I stopped in for the first time the other day and was shocked at the size of the store and the incredible inventory. The staff were all picking away at some instrument or another and they were extremely helpful … which was good as I know nothing about anything related to audio equipment and I left feeling like I had just received a private tutorial. Speaking of which, I was surprised to see their instruction center, with several local, accomplished musicians available to teach all levels of students. They also had a repair center available, which was good to learn. For those who podcast or webcast, they have a great assortment of tech products to make your life easier or to help you up your game. If you are just starting, it looked like they had instrument rental available too. There are several small music shops that I love in town, and I always say buy and shop local. With that said, the inventory here, especially where percussion items, guitars, keyboards and microphones were concerned, was incredible. No need to order online.

Customer service was outstanding! Went in for a small, portable guitar amp for my son and we were offered a few options with great explanations of pros/cons. 4 star because selection wasn't the best. They were out of stock on a few different options. If you're willing to wait for them to get; it's no trouble.

I visited the store for the first time today. I was in the market for a new guitar and Amp for my children and had no idea what to get for a beginner. There was a sales associate by the name of Brad who had nothing but knowledge and an easy way of explaining to me the ins and outs of buying a guitar. I was a little bit intimidated by the large selection of instruments, but Brad gave me good guidance on a guitar and Amp. If I am need of another instrument, I will be heading back to here. Thanks guys 👍

First of all what an great inventory and beautiful store. Amazing selections of basses, guitars, drums, recording software, and everything in between. Came here looking for a bass and new drum set and was greeted by multiple friendly faces looking to help! Chris was a particularly amazing staff member, helping delineate between brands and qualities for my skill level, exceptional team and store.

Greeted friendly after entering the front register is right when you enter. Went in to look for a new bass not sure which one I like asked one of the workers who are all friendly and helpful to allow me to test an instrument which I was kindly lead to set up an amp and bass guitar. Repair center was amazing! Went in to get the intonation on my bass fixed and Andrew went above and beyond with the help. He has great customer service and was overall super helpful! Great environment inside and everyone was helpful.

I am a big supporter of small local business, but after a few purchases and interaction with our local Guitar Center, I can not say enough good things. The management and staff have been exceptional to say the least.

I bought a floor model guitar that showed an issue with the high e string. I tried to tune it but the string popped. When I took it back Zach in repairs he not only helped me no questions asked he also showed me how to fix it on my own. And he referred me to better quality strings. Please let Zach have a paid day off or something!

It's hard to downgrade reviews of the largest and biggest selection of items in the area, but there were a few too many things I noticed here. If you know about guitar parts, I was looking for neck screws and a neck plate to reattach my fender's neck (because I flew up with the Tele disassembled in my luggage and forgot my hardware at home). #1, they only had screws and no plate (which is like being a car shop and selling tires but not rims) and #2, the guy at the guitar counter had no knowledge of the products in his section. Come here if you know what you're looking for. Because the only thing these "associates" understand is the warranty that they try to upsell you at the counter.

Ashley is an amazing employee at this location and an absolute asset to the company. His knowledge on guitar, musicians, and playstyle is amazing and after just trying out one guitar and hearing how I liked to play, he found another guitar for me to try. When I first plugged it in you could immediately hear the difference. I started playing and my heart starting racing. It was 10x the sound and feel to the first guitar I was trying and only $50 more. The entire experience was incredible to me from when I walked in the door until I walked out. Hands down nicest guy I've met in a long time I won't ever forget my experience at guitar center and I will always tell everyone about it.

Nice store, clean and well organized but limited guitar brands. And the quality of the affordable ones are poor and made in china. US made guitars says it in the sound hole. But not these. But if you're serious about learning this is the place you want to start.

Wow, a well stocked, quiet music store with a knowledgeable staff who also play is refreshing to us road weary tour musicians. Fantastic gear selection and reasonable prices make this a must stop when in Anchorage, Alaska. Don't miss it, just go.

My wife bought me a Fender Telecaster as a Christmas gift from the Anchorage Guitar Center with a 15% off coupon from the monthly flyer and used the savings to buy the extended warranty. Cut to Christmas when I open it and find out it has a buzzing fret, no big deal they will fix it, or so I thought. Brought it to them only to find out they no longer employ a guitar tech and haven't for weeks! They won't exchange it for the exact same model and color they have on the wall because it was purchased using a coupon from their Christmas Sale and the prices are different! The Fender warranty still applies and guess who Fender states I have to take it to for Repairs? The Authorized repair center at the only Guitar Center in town. Only they can't fix it. On top of this the extended warranty we purchased only applies to manufactures defects after the manufacturer warranty expires in two years. Was excited about guitar Center being in Anchorage, even brought my brother there to buy a bass and an amp two days ago. I can't explain how frustrated I am with this situation. UPDATE- I was helped by the manager who apologized for the mixup, and he had no problem exchanging my guitar for the same model. It made my day and possibly salvaged a relationship.

I walked into the gutair center the other day and I saw the very same guitar Mr dad gave me 50 years ago and had to sell it but when I picked it up and started ayong something magical happened its been decades since I have played but I think I will take it up again I think I am goi g to buy it

This place is stocked with everything, almost a bit much if you are just looking for guitars. They do have a beautiful area for acoustic guitars. There are more than just guitars also. They have drums and snares, and keyboards, and even some wind instruments. All your sound system pieces and parts are piled high too. I might increase to 5 stars after they get personal that are a bit more knowledgeable, but that comes with being open a bit longer... We shall see, they've only been open a few months as of this review.

This place is amazing. They have plenty of staff to help and you can basically try anything in the shop out before you buy. I will probably spend thousands of dollars here.

The staff was nice and there are a lot of different instruments! I was there to get a DJ controller and a staff member helped me out. They also handle the COVID 19 situation very well. They clean the equipment before and after testing.

I have a single piece of advice for this place. I play the drums. So I will frequent this location to see what new snare drums they pick up. There were many times where I would try out a snare, and it would be tuned poorly, or barely tuned at all. (I'm not referring to personal preference tuning, but simply tightening a head on a snare) Other than that, the staff is educated and are very helpful.

It's guitar center, they ain't bad it's your stereotypical retailer. Staff is friendly but your much better off going to a independent retailer like Mammoth Music of Anchorage Guitar Central much more personal approach and supporting local business.

Service is excellent. Variety of style of instruments is commendable. I'm a drummer, so I was pleasantly surprised see they had a quaint drummer room with cymbals lining the walls and snares on the windowsill. Nearly any instrument you see can be played in the store, including the drums (they have electronic ones outside the drum room and two acoustic ones inside, but this is subject to change as these could be sold).

Wowzah lots to look at! And just as much to play with! Pretty awesome store, the staff not very helpful. My daughter and i walked around for about an hr and not once was i approached or greeted. Which has its upside, i hate be harasses, but my daughter was there to make a purchase.

Second day open, staff was nice and friendly. Store with lots of typical equipment and instrument choices, no custom gear here and no studio gear tho. Prices are high compared to online, local and other GC stores down south. No GC pro, Plano GC has more than this... Will still buy from John @ Horn Doctor locally Good Luck GC

They are simply awsome from the door to the back of the store. Mercy and Selina in particular are 5 out of 5 with the customer service. And every rep in between. I went from a nervous newbie to feeling at ease. Good vibes.

Kids at the front friendly enough, The store is beautiful, but I’m not real happy with the communication. Left my uke to be restrung. Was told it would be some time later in the day. Got called later and told that it would be ready after 4:30. Went in at 10 the next day and was told someone would call. No one called. I went back in after 5 and the work was not done. The repairman didn’t know when it would be done and said he’d call. My beef is that no one communicated with me and I had to make several trips to get an answer. Back to Petr’s, I go.

If you're looking for audio equipment in a hurry then you need to visit the Guitar Center. Guitar Center is more than guitars, drums, and keyboards; you'll find all those small items like headphones, MIDI, and microphones. I wish they had a larger selection of adapters, but overall the selection is real close to other online stores. Checkout the DJ section and enjoy the color show!
