We are in Albuquerque visiting from Canada. My wife did some research on things to do and came across Pimentel & Sons. Even though I own many guitars and love to play I was reluctant to go and see the shop. We were greeted by Rick Pimentel and immediately appreciated the passion that Rick has for his work. He took the time to show us all the facets of how a guitar is constructed. Building a guitar is a labour of love. Rick spends a lot of time talking with his customers to learn not only about what they want to achieve for sound but in some cases their guitar will tell a story about their life. He does this by embossing beautiful symbols into the guitar. He creates the symbols himself, from butterflies to airplanes, they are all done by his own hand. He is an artist as well as being a master luthier. It was a most pleasurable and well-spent hour of my life.

We found this guitar shop online, as a "fun things to do in Albuquerque" listing... it was a totally unexpected delight! Rick was so accommodating with his time, showing us around the shop and speaking with a passion that is embodied in every instrument in the place. You don't have to be a guitarist or musician to enjoy and appreciate the Pimentel story... it's craftsmanship at its peak! Breathtaking!!

I took guitar lessons here for 3.5 years and I've never regretted it. I had such good instruction about technique and performance that I still carry with me.
I purchased a custom Pimentel jazz-style classical guitar and it is sublime. I have tiny hands so the guitar-makers made the neck smaller and thinner than a standard classical guitar. It is gorgeous.
I still go in to get my strings changed because I just like being in there.
Sidebar note: If they ever make a Pimentel Ukulele I would get one made right quick ;)

Guitar lessons every week for some time. Watched as my guitar was lovingly made by each of you. Had the pleasure of spending time with you throughout the process and enjoying every precious moment. Incredible talent all in one building!!!

My son and I loved this place. Cool dudes and awesome place to visit. They had the work on my son's guitar done in under 24hr. Highly recommend and we're definitely going back 👍 …

Lorenzo Pimentel made my guitar 50+ yrs ago and Hector taught me to play it.

Rick expertly repaired my 40-year-old classical guitar from another maker, fixing the intonation problems and making it much easier to play. He was generous with his time, discussing design options and materials, and making sure I knew how to take care of my instrument. Robert also did a lot of work on it.
I went here based on my good friend’s experience with his instruments. Very trustworthy family business. Thanks to all of them!

I love the family culture and the laid back approach, they had plenty of patience working with me as i tried to capture all i wanted in my Guitar. The final product was beautiful and exactly what i wanted from them. I love playing it every time i pick it up.

Beautiful, hand-made guitars which are way out of my price range. This family-owned business creates custom works of art played by musicians all over the world. Additionally, the big name guitar makers employ this shop to do a lot of their custom work on (again) very expensive instruments. Well-worth a visit, but leave your wallet at home. If you have to ask, you can't afford it.

I needed some woodwork on my Les Paul type guitar and I trusted my baby to these good people because of their fine reputation for making exquisite and beautiful spanish style classical guitars. The work was done quickly and competently and the fee was reasonable. The most pleasurable part of the experience was the smell in their shop of mahogany and other fine tonewoods, it was like heaven. A lovely experience even though I don't play those find of guitars.
