Reviews of New Castle Court House Museum

The courthouse museum is an affiliate of the national Park service, but not the national Park service so they act a little bit differently. The courthouse does not have open hours, they give tours of the courthouse at the post of time. Don't expect the bathroom or other amenities at this site because they don't exist. National parks passport books stamps are available at the end of the tour. The tours are really good and much can be learned about the courthouse and Newcastle. This just isn't a visitor center in the normal sense. There are maps outside that will give you a walking tour of the town. Although the material I received from the courthouse was much better at taking on the walking tour. There is a bathroom in the public park located just beyond the parking lot.

Beautiful and well-preserved building, part of the First State National Historic Park and promoted as one of its seven main attractions. We walked in and were greeted by a friendly bearded gentleman, who gave us a wonderful 40-minute tour for free. It was through his stories that the place came to life and made us appreciate its historic significance. The tour ended at the second floor, where there is a small exhibition on the history of European settlement in Delaware.
We visited in the summer and the air-conditioned interior was definitely a welcome break from the intense heat. They also have clean restrooms at the basement.

This incredible building was a British court, capitol building, colonial assembly hall, and tea house. Make sure to get a guided tour of the building- you will learn so much about Delaware! Seriously, this was one of the best tours I've ever been on.

I attended a Black History Month event here. It was interesting, well thought out, and free. The building, rich in history, has been lovingly restored. Parking is a bit challenging though.
