Reviews of Delaware Museum of Nature & Science
Linda Flegal
Brought my grandchildren here to check out the new look, we hadn’t been in a few years. We were not disappointed! It’s so fresh and bright and updated! The kids loved Al the interactive stations and the tunnels and bubbles in the displays. There’s something for every age, and we enjoyed the walking trails and wildlife blind out back. Wonderful place to take children and grandchildren!

This place has been recently renovated and they did a great job. First, we spent three hours here from start to finish. It is very much centered on being kid friendly, however, it was just myself and my husband and we really enjoyed the visit.
There is a short trail outside that focuses on an evolution timeline. Halfway through our visit we stopped at their small cafe and had coffee and cookies. They have light fare including a variety of sandwiches. You can also bring in your picnic lunch.
For those with mobility issues, I was able to navigate all of the exhibits with my scooter. They also had benches around the museum although I think they could use more. The bathroom was easily accessible.
Lastly, they have a small gift shop which was nice. We purchased the Brandywine Passport for $99 which gives us family admission for two adults and two kids to many museums in the area. We have been to most of these places but we will definitely revisit.

We had no idea what to expect for a 1.5 and 3.5 year old but it was PERFECT! There is an entire room (the nature nook) filled with books, art, STEM and sensory activities for little kids. We could have easily spent hours there and it was way more manageable with 2 toddlers than a bigger children's museum. They were doing a story time when we were there, as well. Even though the rest of the museum is tailored more to older kids and adults, it was still extremely accessible for the little guys, with plenty to see, touch and hear. It's really a beautiful facility! Everyone we encountered on the staff was warm, lovely and encouraging to my little kids. No one made us feel bad for being excited or noisy. There are rooms around the facility for sensory breaks/breastfeeding. There is also a nice little cafe with DELICIOUS (and surprisingly reasonably priced) food. ($2.50 brownies, $4 salads, etc).

It’s a small museum but they have a variety of habitats and it’s areas throughout the museum. They also have education material on the local habitat as well as a little play/ interactive area for children to learn. Definitely fun place to bring your younger children or children who likes nature things to explore.

This is a great place to take young children and toddlers who are interested in nature! There are many small exhibits that are very educational, but it's still small enough that you can look at everything in an hour or two. There is an interactive space where kids can color, play with a remote controlled robotic car, and enjoy some sensory time with a sand table.
This is an ideal spot to visit if you also have a baby in tow, as there is a respite room with a rocking chair, small toddler chair, some little books, and a yoga mat where someone can nurse a baby and keep their toddler or small child with them.

Wonderful museum- so much more to see and do than I imagined. I brought a 4 1/2 yr old and an almost 2 yr old with me and they had an absolute blast. They learned about dinosaurs, safari animals, arctic animals, sea creatures, etc. There is a wonderful “nature nook” that has a replica the exact size of a bald eagle’s nest- my kids loved that. Just a wonderful museum. They even have trails out back to explore and learn but it was too cold the day we visited. Definitely recommend!
Allyson Smith
Excellent spot for a little kids! I first had a trip here with some friends and all of our kids which range from one and a half to three years old. They all had such a great time. We enjoyed it so much we ended up buying a membership. The Nature Nook is great and I think my son could have spent hours in there. The museum itself is small and it was the perfect size for toddlers. We were pleasantly surprised when we went outside for lunch to find there were more places to walk around and things set up out there. We went back for the countdown to noon on New Year’s Eve and also had a great time, looking forward to checking out other events they put on.
Matt Mccreary
Very cool place for the kiddos, went to a birthday party there. They had a nice private room and did a live animal show. The kids loved the tour around the museum, along with everything else. Would recommend!!
Phillip Gerecke
I really enjoyed my visit at the Delaware Museum of Nature and Science. The exhibits, including the Delaware and global exhibit, are interesting and relevant with a focus on conservation. The tour guides do a really good job of bringing the material and content of the exhibit closer to the audience and providing more insights.
Moreover, everything looks very modern and is interactive which makes the experience even better. Cannot recommend it enough!
Gary Myers
This is a great place for kids.. But for adults going to see what is listed as a museum with nature and science, it was quite disappointing. Very expensive for what you get, we were literally done in under 15 minutes, at a cost of over $54!
Jennifer Keller
Worth a trip for the new Tree of Life atrium alone! And, beyond that fabulously designed centerpiece, this museum is excellent in every way and especially great for small children whose overwhelm threshold is typically ignored by most museums. Loved it!
Emily Hagelberg
I love bringing my toddler here! It's a perfect option for rainy or cold days (really any days!). The museum isn't huge, but there's plenty to do.
If you want just the basics: it's education, attractively and engagingly presented. The museum has a small cafe, gift shop, consistently clean bathrooms, a room which I believe is for nursing parents, and various picnic areas and little trails outside, as well as, of course, the exhibit areas. There are many places to sit and rest or observe as well, which is much appreciated.
If you want details:
The exhibits are really well done; many are interactive (touch screen to choose an animal to learn about, feel what a fox's fur feels like, crawl through a tunnel so you can see the middle of a diorama). There are many nooks and crannies to settle into to watch an informative video (the deep sea dive is a consistent hit for us!) read an educational book, do a puzzle or just observe.
We love the "Delaware room" as it looks and feels like being in the woods. It's fun to look at the dioramas and search for the animals listed on the screen, while learning facts about each one. We also enjoy the giant Delaware map on the floor, and discovering where locations we love are, and finding various ways to get there.
The museum has some live animals interspersed into the exhibit areas(dart frogs, snake, tarantula, toad etc)
The Nature Nook and Science/Technology areas are also go-tos, with the cave, archaeology, birds nest and various, little-kid activities in the Nature Nook, as well as the microscope, robot, magnatiles and interactive sandbox on the science/technology area.
We have been several times now and still love it and learn something new each time. This place is worth a visit for sure!
Saymith Buterbaugh
We love it here! The place is clean and the staff is super friendly! My toddlers love the nature nook! There's a little bit for everyone of every age. It's also less crowded and understated gem!
Danielle Hill
Very nice museum ...perfect for littles and people who can't do a whole lot of walking. We were looking for an rainy day covid activity and this was perfect. They have floor markers for flow of foot traffic and ticket purchase is online.
Karen Richard
Always love this place. They are always changing the children's activity room with new exciting hands on learning experiences. This time it's viruses and DNA. Another time was space. There are lots of games, interactive video screens, puzzles. The have a museum cat, Dude, who celebrated his 10th birthday today with cake, extra games and gifts for all the children. There are dinosaur fossils, beautiful gems, and lots of things for children.
momoeight mamabear
Amazing museum. I've been to a lot of museums and I really enjoyed this one and would highly recommend it. One of the most interesting shell collections and information I've ever seen. Also a pretty remarkable collection of taxidermied birds. Some very unusual ones. There was a lot of hands on stuff for kids and several docents giving out information. The displays all had a lot of educational value and did a great job of explaining what you were looking at. Outside there were a lot of beautiful bronze animal statues, info on plants and rocks.
Chelsea Amoriello
Had such a great time here today! Took my son for the first time, and it was my first time being there since I was his age. Honestly? My son is the type of kid who gets bored, quick. He LOVED it here. It was just big enough where there's different options to look at without the size of the building being overwhelming, and very time you go through an exhibit there's something more to notice that you didn't catch the first time. The staff were all very friendly and personable, and I was so pleased with the fact they have an EBT recipient discount for DE as well as PA! For me and my son we got in with an affordable fee of $4 with the discount, but discount or not I would definitely recommend visiting!!
Julz Bo
I agree with other reviews that the museum updates are well done. However, it is definitely made for small children. The museum is very small...two rooms...so if you don't read everything, you could run through the place in 15 minutes. You'll want to have other activities in the area planned if you're traveling more than 30 minutes to get there.
thomas baiocco
Great place to take your kids. Price of tickets could be a little cheaper but still worth it
Speedy
The new museum is really terrific. Lots of interactive exhibits and lots to see. Beautiful area to play outside, as well.
Gary Griffith
A lovely little museum with just the right mix of things for little minds. Exhibits are very kid friendly, and the Nature Nook playroom is a delight. Highly recommended
Jes love
I brought my 11 and 13 year old here and they had a lot of fun. Displays were well done and lots to see. We enjoyed our experience.
Laura Plenzik
Small but mighty, there were lots of activities going on. Fun scavenger hunt and plenty of animals to look at and learn about. Great for families and kids.
Jay HK
New exhibits look great! The museum recently underwent an extensive renovation, with displays for climate change, Delaware conservation issues, and world biomes. They also have a kids section, outdoor seating space, and an events /conference room.
Ernest G
This may be a small museum but it's a quality museum. It's the perfect size for a short afternoon visit. It's really well put together; better than some large museums. You'll find well presented information for each display. Nothing is sloppy or outdated. There are displays that are interactive for children (adults to) of all ages.
Life As Sam
The place is small. It took about 20 mins to look around and read up on interesting things. The dinosaur area was cool but that’s about it.
mykl atoms
Nice little museum of natural things for all ages. Displays of plants, land and sea animals, from ages long past two present. A great place to take your younger children but also a place that has a lot to interest adults. Highly recommend. Veterans get in free.
Michael Demaio
Fun for kids, lots to look at and an interactive area. Downside is no child size toilet/urinal or child height sink
K J
Really great atmosphere, informative, and fun.
Ron MCLAUGHLIN
Outstanding. Very nice small but not to small. One of the best in the region if not the area. Alot of exhibits. Alot of very good things for people of all ages
Tom Lawless
My son always has a good time here. He enjoys the animals and the videos of the dinosaurs.
Dee Ol
Great place to take your kids. Interesting exhibits, and a definite great learning experience for parents too!
Izzy Reis
Awesome place to take your kids. Lots of activities... you can be a member and have fun for the whole year with the entire family. Plus you get to visit a lot of other museums all over the country and some even outside the USA . Which is awesome if you like to travel a lot . You get free museums every where you go. Can’t be more fun than that.
Ray Rheault
Visited on a rainy Sunday. Was not as nice as others I've visited (near beach towns in NC, for example).
Had stuff for kids to do, but as a senior that did not apply to me.
No senior discount, AAA, or other discounted tickets available.
Amber Rempp
I really enjoyed the Wicked plants exhibit it was really cool and interactive. The mesuem has tons of animal taxidermy. They also have a nice gift shop. This is a good place to take pics.
Michael Rodrigues
It's a fun and informative small museum! Love the new renovation!
Yuriko Medina
We had my daughter’s 4th birthday at the museum and the team did a wonderful job with the tour and animal events. The kids had a great time!
Desiree Moyers
Beautiful, informative, captivating display; interactive play areas, visually stimulating showcases, even a full size lunch room! We had a great time with the Dinosaur exhibit, in spite of the cold and wet weather.
Tina Hutchinson
A very fun place to go
Joe Davis (Chilly)
Kids loved it, the renovation looks great and the experience is very engaging.
Brad Gudmundson
Great place, great people, great place to visit with a kid. Outdoor and indoor activities.
Kerri Lacey
Love the renovations and the outdoor space. My kids can’t wait to go back.
Tiger Kennedy Cosmos
Delaware Mineralogical Society had a lecture on vulcanism after museum hours. I’ll definitely be back to check out the museum with the family.
Louise Saruk
Staff is fantastic!! I have always liked it here. Under the rebranding they have worked hard to increase the interactivity. It's also small and therefore very manageable for you with kids.
Joan Winchester
Great safe clean super fun morning with our grandkids! Perfect for little eyes!
Caitlinn Cox
Great place for adults and kids! Awesome fossils and activities!
Kari Lawson
My 3 year old had a great time with my parents. The snap on dinosaur tails are so sweet.
Adam Tuttle
Small museum, so you won't want to go back every month, but high quality exhibits and a traveling exhibit room to keep things fresh too. We go once or twice per year. They also participate in free museum day! (Google it to get the date for this year)
Sherie T
Great museum with lots of knowledge!
Mintfaery
Wonderful!! We always love going and the employees are so incredibly nice 💖 I especially like the nest. …
Cynthia Hood
This place was great for people of all ages! There was so much to see and do. My husband and I are seniors, my adult daughter and my great granddaughter all had a wonderful day there.
Balloon Artist
The kids liked it. Very clean. Decent prices for the gift shop.
Jason Kendrick
Amazing! So much fun for the kids... One of the best parties I've been to
April James
There's a lot for kids to see and learn from. Great family place!
jak shadows
Much smaller than I expected, but still pretty neat. The focus is of course, on Delaware, so that may have something to do with it. Overall, a nice way to spend an afternoon, and I hope they'll be doing more there in some way.
Aynesley Arthur
This place is awesome! My son and I both enjoyed all the detailed exhibits
Fuji Le
Visited museum during BofA Museum on Us Day. Young children with bank account were not allow to get in because they don't have valid picture IDs. Looks like the Museum expect us to get passports.
Heather Yacabell
A hidden gem! Well-equipped, family-friendly museum with changing exhibits each quarter. Perfect size for young children to explore both indoors and outdoors. My family loves looking at the dinosaurs and all of the other animals. The museum is also staffed by friendly people who are eager to provide information to guests. A great day of fun & learning! Definitely worth getting a family membership!
Jason Pope
Attended WHYY Daniel Tiger event and free admission to museum. WHYY event was fun for #lilRobespierre and he thoroughly enjoyed checking out the museum's offerings. Getting to pet a snake was abonus.
Tabatha Brown-Flowers
I attended a class trip with my granddaughter to the museum. What an amazing time! The staff was so patient and knowledgeable, friendly. They answered the children's questions and took great detail giving them descriptions on the different scenes that we were visiting. The live insects and bugs really got the children interested. A wonderful family trip.
Edward Goodman
Cool place ,probably more suited to children under 10
Danah Hood
It is a great place to take your kids. The staff was very nice and informative. I learned some new things myself. 😊❤️ …
2mega lott
This was awesome. My 2year old exhausted himself looking at all the displays and exhibits. They were fascinated. I learned some new facts and look forward to going again.
Kelly Trimble
Lovely place for small kids 2-6yrs old! A small interactive easy rainy or cold day must with energetic young ones.
Marc Guthrie
It's a really nice way to mix things up for the little ones. They have fun seeing the different displays and don't realize they're learning as they go.
Richard Shivers
Spent three hours here. My children (8 and 5) enjoyed themselves immensely. Story time was a big hit, as was meeting the animals. The museum is rather small, but still has quite a bit to offer. very kid friendly. Staff was courteous and helpful, and was very good with children.
Vladimir Kovalenko
Small but nice. A lot of kids activities.
Karen Morales
We have been bringing our family here for years. Great place to explore and learn. The staff here are amazing and patient when talking to the children. They are hands on with all who come and visit. The museum is impeccably kept inside and out. Bathrooms are clean. They even have a small glassed in lounge room with vending machines for when your ready to take a snack break. They have party rooms available for that special birthday party. They also have an outdoor patio with umbrellas to sit and enjoy your lunch and or snack. Highly recommend for all ages.
Stephen Alete
We had a great experience! We highly recommend taking a trip to this museum.
Leeta Law
This place was such a delight. There are dinosaurs out front in the parking lot area and the kids loved that and were definitely excited to go in. They have a few dioramas of animals that are nicely done. A nice nature play room that is staffed with very nice people. One was running a coloring table and another brought out a turtle for the kids to look at and pet. There were a few interactive play stations as well such as a huge eagle nest, a stream table that had a super smooth pretend stream to slide stream animals around. The traveling exhibit of the Mayan medallion was nice. I loved the tiny planetarium info piece and the ruins/caves to go exploring through. Definitely the most interactive natural science museum I have ever been to with so many hidden gems. Easily could spend 2 hours here enjoying things. They have a room to eat snacks in as well and a gift shop.
Brittany B
This is a cute place to visit, we just honestly didn't realize it was so small ( We went through in a half hour). My two toddler boys loved the dinosaur exhibit and the gift store was cute and reasonably priced. While not large by any means, it is a fun place to visit with children.
Kerith Hiatt
Perfect for school age kids, as well as the younger crew. It's pretty small, which makes it easy to see the whole museum and not get overwhelmed. There's a kids room section and lots of kid-friendly activities sprinkled throughout.
Thomas O'Grady
I absolutely love this place. They have a great selection of exhibits including some articulated dinosaur fossils and a special kids area. They host many exciting events and traveling exhibits so there is always something fun. There is a nature trail behind the museum for sunny days. The museum is small so its easy for kids to get through and favorite exhibits can easily be revisited.
Brett Bussart
This museum is awesome. Don't let the small size fool ya, this museum is packed full of knowledge and experiences for people of all ages.
They have a lot of preserved animals from all over the world and lots of information about both the animals and the regions they come from.
The dinosaur exhibits are fun to see and take photographs with as well. I was able to spend the time to see all of the exhibits and read a lot of the details because we did an overnight with the cub scouts. I highly recommend visiting this museum, and visiting it this way.
In addition to being able to see all of the exhibits after hours we had students from the University of Delaware we had hands on with spiders, scorpions, snakes and other live animals. My daughter and I had a wonderful time.
midsummermuse
Fun and family friendly, but adults who are kids-at-heart will still enjoy. A smaller museum, you can easily see everything on a Sunday afternoon. Great and informative exhibits focusing on animals and habitats, with rocks and minerals on display and other stuff for good measure. Gift shop prices are very reasonable!
Jose Morillo
A bit small but really nice building and experience
Matt Litz
My 6-yr old and 4-yr old really liked it here, but my 9-yr old got bored pretty quickly. It wasn't real big, but there was enough for us to spend 2 hours here. The Maya Mystery was fun, and the shell collection was neat, too. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable...and passionate, too. My little ones loved the African Savannah diorama.
Rodney Wallace
For young kids, the museum's fantastic! A wonderful chance to interact with nature, both inside and out, on a local scale. A great destination, if you have a couple hours with the kids, and need an activity. An entertaining way to introduce children to the concept of museums as a fun place for them. A nice place to have a membership for the summer, to take advantage of the air conditioning, or to enjoy the camps. This museum is how a local business does 'children's engagement' well.
Greg Keane
Great for kids. Very neat museum, and friendly staff.
Mo A
We have visited the museum many times. It is great for kids that love exploring nature. My 8yo loves it, my 11yo gets bored here easy. Special touring exhibitions and a Nature Nook area with live animals go well with the standard animal displays.
Victoria Ellis
My almost 4 year old and I love this museum. We have visited a few time and always find something fun and educational to enjoy. We were able to attend the last day of the dragons exhibit and it did not disappoint! Prices are very reasonable and I am looking forward to more visits soon. We will likely get a membership the next time we go.
Chris Thistlethwaite
Lots of kid friendly things to do. It's just big enough that there is plenty of variety in the exhibits but not overwhelming. We wandered through in about an hour, though we could've spent more time. There isn't any food there besides some vending machines. However there is an area with tables and chairs.
Robert Scavello
We just had a birthday party at the museum and it was a fantastic experience! The staff was great. The hands on contact with the live exhibits kept the kids completely interested. All the other main exhibits had our group, ages 3 to 60, amazed! We can't wait to visit again in the near future and will keep watching for any upcoming, special exhibits. Thanks for everything.
Robert Scavello
Amy Shore
Great place to take the kids. There was a little maze with a small zip line, rock climb, and other activities. The actual exhibits were on the small size but of quality. You could run through the museum in an hour and a half. It was a good time. Located in the rural part of Delaware. I went on a weekend.
C Rush
Perfect for elementary schools and families with young children - there is a small room with a vending machine for snacks and drinks. If you want to eat food, you will need to bring it with you and eat at the tables where the vending machine is or info the back of building where there are metal covered round picnic tables. Museum is small but there are detailed displays with descriptions. There is a room with books and activities for the youngest of the group, story time, and the ability to touch some live animals like a python, spotted gecko, and turtle. There is a beautiful walking trail and you can borrow a big or toddler-sized backpack with binoculars, a checklist, a magnifying glass and other fun items for your nature walk. Prices are reasonable too for admission. There is also a small gift shop - prices are reasonable are the gift shop too, which was surprising
Mike Yeager
First time visiting. Staff were very friendly and helpful! Really neat place. Not crowded. We were able to take our time and enjoy. If you have younger kids, this is a must!! Many interactive kid things to do and, still educational for adults. Wish we would have taken our kids when they were younger!
sirivandana valluri
It's a nice place to go on a weekend. Takes about 2hrs or less in the museum. There is also a small hiking trail to enjoy the nature after exploring the museum. You can watch different birds, butterflies and squirrels. Pinic spots are also available. When I visited the museum, they got a live breaded dragon in the display and I got to pet it. I think it is super cool! I think they don't always have it.
Ginger Pasquale
This place is really cool for the little ones. They have hands on activities with a discovery room, alot of extra little events. Prices are good, they have a little room with tables where you can eat, they have vending machines with chips sodas juice and water. Very clean, bathroom's very clean and staff very nice and extremely helpful.
Jamie Roberts
Had a great time here. Wish we knew dude wasn't going to be there as his we found his pin at a park one time and that's how we found out about the place and were excited to see him but it was nice we could buy a "dude" to bring home! 😆 maybe we will catch him another time! The garden was beautiful and my toddler was a bit scared of the botanical special area but I absolutely LOVED it as a macabre fan. Very good decorating! And the nice lady who read stories and took us for a tour of the garden was super nice and funny. She showed us "didgy"? I think was the bearded dragons name. He sat through storytime with us and it was adorable. Lots of little activities for kids, great place for little ones to get out of the house for the day! We had a great mommy daughter day ❤️
Phinon Woodside
My kids and I really enjoy it here. It isn't huge, but they do have a couple little interactive areas, and their Book in the Nook is great. A staff member reads a book and provides a related craft activity. Would definitely recommend to families with small children.
Mike Jordan
Nice museum, very easy to get to and has a lot of wonderful displays for all ages to interact with. You're greeted by a giant squid in the lobby, then you turn a corner to see a life size T-Rex skull!
It's a good trip for parents with little ones. There are plenty of places for taking breaks, good changing facility, indoor and outdoor eating areas (weather dependant).
Benjamin Kemp
This is great place for a Harry Potter fest! The staff is very friendly and the exhibits are interesting. There's a nice wooded area in the back where you can go on nature hikes. Parking is free and plentiful. No cafe, but there is a space where you can eat what you bring.
Ann Albosta
This is my very favorite museum! It has all the animals of this area in a display or two in this museum. The Children's Room has lots of things to touch and learn interesting tidbits for all ages. They have a display of DNA, large cardboard virus and bacteria displays. There is a dinosaur, a make elephant's head mounted at the height he would stand. ( I know, he's not from here, but still natural history). There is a lot to show about animals & shells of the area and one display stops kids in their tracks. It's about 5' X 4' of clear plastic in the floor with sand, shells & animals under it. It appears to little ones as a hole so many won't chance walking over it. So cute the first time!!
Michael Prasad
Nice smaller-size museum for families. One floor ADA-compliant with some outdoor exhibits in the back including a wooded area. The main permanent exhibits are a bit all over the place - North american exhibits next to South American and a polar bear in between. Good shell collection and a good bird egg collection. Space for one traveling/temporary exhibit. Good learning activities for kids but not a lot of interactive exhibits.
Virginia Mailman
This is a very interesting place for people of all ages. My younger grandkids and the older ones also enjoyed browsing through the exhibits and talking about the examples of taxidermied wildlife to be found there. They have changing exhibits and some Hands-On things. We spent a few hours there and had a great time. They also have a nature trail which is beautiful during the summer.
Stephen Lerch
The museum is geared towards children and as such, small but not too small to make the $9 per adult seem reasonable.
This makes a nice stepping stone to see if your children would be interested in the larger museums while not breaking the bank.
Brett Skipper
This is a really nice natural history Museum. It's small but it has nice animal and natural exhibits. It's good for adults and kids alike. The only misnomer is the butterfly garden. We were expecting an enclosed garden with butterflies. Instead it's open air and there were no butterflies present when we were there.
Chip
The Nature Nook is back open. We are so happy to be spending time again here.. Madeline was so good to my kiddo today...
Samara Weaver
Beautiful exhibits, my daughter loved it!
J S
My kids love DMNH, both to visit and to attend summer camp. It's admittedly dated, but a year-long renovation is starting soon. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The outdoor paths and forest are a great bonus, especially now with covid.
M MacFarland
A very cool museum. We spent a half a day learning about natural history. This museum has a good selection of exhibits.
The second largest egg collection in USA was a surprise. Good shell exhibits. A few dinosaurs.
Kids enjoyed. Not a lot of hands on.
Laura Hall
For what you pay to get in $9.00 a person, I was expecting way more exhibits or even a bigger building. My grandson went here last year on his field trip and it looked nice. So I thought when my grandchildren who live in VA come we'll go...I had googled free places to go and this came up. I was shocked by the price. We will not be back for quit a while if ever. I'd rather fight traffic up to DC to go to free museums. We did have a nice time via photos.....but my teens were like meh.
Emily Shermeyer
Not what I expected. The building was huge and the grounds we're beautiful...it is a $9 tour. We were finished in about 30 minutes and toured VERY slowly. Not a lot to see. Seemed geared to young children/families. It's clean and well done, just very smal-
Loretta Compher
We took our Pathfinder club there, the Cecil Pioneers. We were working on the Shell honor, the Bird honor, and the Mammal honor. They had very thorough displays on shells and birds. There were pictures and models of various animals. There was a "nest" where children could be baby birds. And a special visit with a turtle. The eating area had nice vending machines. Don't forget the gift shop.
Jamei Lyn Derryberry
Great place for our toddler to visit, we had a nice afternoon. A few neat animals, lots of fossils and eggs and well, natural history stuff! Will be going back when there's a new attraction.
Kathy Shoemaker
An employee gave an overview of the museum. Staff assisted us as needed.
lou zambuto
Very small museum, but worth it for a quick visit. Inexpensive admission.
Emily Fouraker
This is a great museum. They have some really cool collections and events for both adults and kids. They also have no problem with this being a out stop when I run along 52. Always a good buzz at this place - love it!
Terretta Storm
A great place to being you're children! They are also very accommodating to children with special needs! Kayla our tour guide was amazing at explaining and teaching our class! Five stars for her too!

With a history that dates back to the 1600s, Delaware is one of the region’s most popular attractions for those interested in getting a crash course in the founding of the nation.
Historically significant sites are found in abundance across the state, and nearby Wilmington is home to the state’s premier natural history museum.
The Delaware Museum of Natural History features an impressive variety of exhibits that touch on animals, the natural world, ecology, and the diverse environments found within the state’s borders.
The museum is located on Kennett Pike, and most travelers consider its reasonable admission cost a great bang for the buck.
Aaron A. Wallace
Lovely collection of shells, taxidermy, lots of birds and bird eggs. Geared towards young families but with a big enough collection to take a couple of hours to look at.
A pair of great dinosaur skeletons from central Asia. Definitely worth a visit.
Nick Mancuso
This is a neat little museum for younger kids. You might get 2 hours or so out of a visit here. It's a little expensive for the experience you get, honestly. The kids area and dinosaur area needs an update. Also, the snack area is usually pretty dirty.
Eric Hart (Eric)
This a great family-friendly museum, the exhibits are well done and kids love the place. They change out the themed exhibits often enough to keep it interesting. Membership is affordable!
Kyle Boyer
My toddler son and I went during the week and he had a great time wandering around and looking at things. He really enjoyed seeing the live animals with the handlers helping explain what they were.
Amber Cockey
Awesome museum. Not too big and overwhelming and not too small. Good for kids and adults. Traveling exhibits. A cute nature nook with live animals. Clean restrooms. Coatroom...love it! Plenty of parking. Near lots of restaurants, pharmacy, etc. Outdoor butterfly garden. We are members for a reason. We ♡ the DMNH!
Pennsylvania State Constable Curt M Dittmeier
While on the smaller side, this is a great place to spend a few hours with the kids. The visiting exhibits are always interesting. I've found the staff to be very friendly and helpful.
Catherine Bosse
It was a nice place for younger kids. If it had been staffed, it would have been really nice. The desks where someone should have been were empty, cutting out the interactivity considerably. Otherwise not bad for an hour or so.
jon sash
I've only been to this museum three times since moving to the area, but twice have been surprised at how much I'd missed during previous visits. This museum had it's own genisis as a result of the scholarly labor of one DuPont family member, and the preservation of that work for the future by another. Part of the beauty of these unique collections is their ability to inspire and remind us that such endeavors do not spring from vanity or a desire to consume time, but instead from genuine curiosity engaged to understand the universe we are a part of. Excellent.
Krista Bracy
Nice museum, AAA members get buy one get one free admission year round. It is very small though, it only took us 30 minutes to see it and we took our time!
La Morena
This museum was beautifully remodeled. The event there was amazing and fun.
Allison Lundstrom
This is a great educational little museum. Well kept up and well staffed. It is best to visit if they have a special exhibit, otherwise it is just too small for the cost.
Nazim Bailey
Thanks for the tour at the museum today 😀 ✨️ 😊 🙌🏿 💕 😄 …
Lauren Maffett
They have rotating exhibits. They are very kid friendly and hands on. The staff is as excited about teaching you as the kids are about learning. They also have a butterfly garden in the summer.
Ed McCauley
Great spot for kids considering the tour can take 20 minutes or two hours based on their attention span... being from out of town, this was certainly worth the trip from PA to share something new with the family and it's in such a nice area as well!
Ann Marie Savini
Great place to take small children. The museum has a lot of interesting exhibits but doesn't take too long to go through.
Frank Mayer
Small museum but a fantastic place to take young kids! Dinosaurs, insects, live animal demonstrations, hands on interactive area. Also great for birthday parties.
Terry Messner
It's nice for what it is. Not a very big museum, you'll be out of there in less than 45 minutes. They exhibits themselves are good but it would be nice if there were more of them.
Akash Jayaprakash
Fun but a little on the smaller side. Kids of age 4-8 will have a great time, older than that and they'll blow through pretty quickly and get cynical on you. (Ask me how I know!)
Aaron Stanford
It's small and simple. It's self guided so you can go at your own pace. Lots of things to touch for the kids. Inside and a few things outside. Seems geared towards kids and field trips.
Fran Barhydt
Enjoyed a tour of museum exhibits. Enthralled by the Jaguar displayed in its natural habitat. That large jungle cat is magnificent... Handsome, strong, perfectly suited for the Americans... California Colorado, Texas, New Mexico, and in the rain forests of Central and South America.
Matt Melchior
Fun, quick trip. Nice loop trail outside, easy for my 4.5 year old. About 90 mins total to see everything (including outdoor trail).
Matt B

It is a decent museum not the best. Many of the display items are not original but a full size replica of the originals which was a little disappointing. Kids might enjoy an afternoon visit to the museum.
