This place is a hidden treasure! You have to book the guided tour in advance, but it’s definitely worth it. You will discover different significance of the architect but also a history of Wichita and college hill neighborhood. Unfortunately it is not allowed to take pictures inside, but that is why you need to go!
Christian Ardito
Beautiful Frank Lloyd Wright architecture. Unfortunately the Allen House is closed on Mondays but we could still appreciate the beautiful architecture from the outside. Exceeded all my expectations.
Taylor Wright
Attended the Holiday Open House 2022 here, and wow it was so fun! Hot cocoa, spiked punch, and sweet & salty treats were provided for this event, along with a group singing Christmas tunes! It was fun to go on a self-guided tour so you could really take in the design, architecture, and decor at your own pace. It’s really such an honor that we have a Frank Lloyd Wright commissioned home right here in Wichita-and that there is so much rich history preserved there. If you have an appreciation for architecture and design-then you must check out the Allen House!
John Roever
Wonderful example of Prairie Style architecture by the great Frank Lloyd Wright. The Moonlight Tour was brilliant. Highly recommend taking a tour of the interior of the house. But even just viewing the exterior, and you appreciate how unique and special this house is to Wichita and Kansas.
Chris Cooper
Beautiful architectural gem lovingly restored. A great way to experience Frank Lloyd Wright's singular vision with all its quirks. The tour staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit.
Mike Neifert
I've been to this house twice. Our guides knew so much about the house, Mr. Wright, and the furnishings he designed. The architecture and design are amazing, especially when you consider this house was built in 1918. I've always done the 2-hour tour which were very thorough. I don't know what more they could've said or added with a third hour. The tours on the weekend fill up pretty quickly, so book early. On our last visit, we almost didn't get in when we went to book on Tuesday for a Saturday tour. If your group is large enough, they will add an extra tour and your price drops a little. Heads up on kids. Those under 12-years are not admitted. No photos allowed indoors, but outdoors are fine.
Mark Stoskopf
The Allen House by Frank Lloyd Wright was completed in 1918 and is a beautiful gem that must be seen to appreciate. We got the three hour tour and were glad we did! The house is amazing and is a house that would be comfortable living in today. The guide was very knowledgeable and had a love and enthusiasm for the house that showed in her talks. It is a must see here in Wichita!

Nice example of a FLR. FYI buy tickets in advance, tours sell out and your not allowed to self-guide. The gift shop staff are great and lots of fun things to choose from. We did have to wait about 30 minutes for the tour started (11:30 started about 12), docent arrived late, otherwise nice place to visit.
Amy Koszalka
Excellent experience. The docents were so friendly and knowledgeable. Could have listened to them for hours. A must see for any architecture fan!
Sam Fantaye
One of Frank Lloyd's finest prairie style house. A must visit if you're in the of are a local who finds a well refined design that brings harmonious marriage of context and style.
Justin Gilbert
A Frank Lloyd Wright house in Kansas. Very awesome tour and home. I took the two hour tour and it was definitely not too long. Gift shop is nice. Got a signed book from one of foundation leaders. Make sure to check tour days and dates as it isn't available every day and plan your trip accordingly so you can see this while in Wichita.
Mindy Sue
Must see! Our docent Randy was knowledgeable and informative. My husband and I both thoroughly enjoyed our tour! We learned a lot about the architecture and history of the house. Thank you for making our trip to Wichita a great one!
Eddis Goodale
Yet another magnificent home designed by America's most famous architect. Stunning collection of original furnishings saved, preserved, and donated by the family, or acquired by Allen House Foundation supporters. All of the original art glass windows are reportedly still in place. The garden and koi pond are a calming passive respite within the Kansas landscape. The living room is reminiscent of the Robie House living room.
Susan Cenkus
This is a cool example of Frank Lloyd Wright's prairie style. Take the tour! So informative! The group guide gives such insight into the lives of those who lived here. ❤❤❤
Courtney Theodora Krois
Great tour guide! Loved learning about all the detail and thought that went into every aspect. Definitely recommend!
Kim Pish
Beautifully restored home planned and build by Wright. We took the 1.5 hour tour and could have even spent more time. Our guide Burt was excellent. No photos inside the house on the shorter tour.
e-Scott
Amazing house for 1918. One of my favorites by the master. Took the 90 minute tour and it was great.
CliffM
Fairly detailed 1 1/2 + hr tour of this FLW Prairie house. Nicely restored. However paying tour customers $24. ea. are prohibited from taking any photos inside the house which is excessive and unreasonable.
glynn isoda
Only was able to take exterior photo. Next trip I will try to arrive in order to take interior tour that is available
John Sobonya
From the tour to the gift store our visit was amazing. The tour guide, Tyler, knew the history of the house and family; he also did a great job explaining it all as we explored the house.
Allison Emge
I enjoyed touring this house more than I expected. I liked our tour guide, Jan, as she kept things interesting. It is definitely worth the visit. We didn’t do the garden house part of the tour but I didn’t feel like I missed too much. We had our 14 year old with us and not sure she would have enjoyed the longer tour.
Michael Tuffelmire
I did not see the interior because I arrived too late to town. However my home town has a couple Frank Lloyd Wright houses in my neighborhood. I try to get around and see as many as I can. I find his architecture fascinating. I found this one very interesting as well. I really like the garage in the back along with the overhangs.

I took 3- hour, in-depth tour, because it's the one where photography of the house is allowed. Ordered tickets online, day in advance. Everyone was very knowledgeable and courteous. Docent Lisa who was our guide, did a fantastic job of describing the Allen house and its history. "Thank you!" to all the wonderful people who have restored this house to immaculate condition! Gift shop has a lot of items for purchase
ronald hinkle
Spent $22 a ticket. Price is very high for what you get but my wife enjoyed it. Had to buy online to reserve the tour. You have to be guided. 90 min tour of house and grounds. Interesting info on the owner and builder. Gift shop has high prices and an artsy feel. Free parking. Cannot take pics inside. Air-conditioned inside.
Henry Nelson
One of Wichita's treasures. It's now a museum and is being restored to its former glory. Tours are infrequent, but worth going to if you manage to get in. This is Wright's very last prairie-style house.
Michele Glaser
It's closed in January but we got too see the outside..so beautiful.
Linda Beal
The Allen House is breathtaking. The tour was very detailed. Highly recommend
Marsha Baker
Lovely house and Great tour if you're interested in Frank Lloyd Wright
sonia brocko
I loved this experience so much. It was a great way to learn about Frank Lloyd Wright and what he liked without having knowledge of architecture, FLW, or Wichita. The docent I had was knowledge, engaging, and herded all the cats that were his group.
Jennifer Nixon
We were in town when it was closed, but we still stopped by to see it from outside. Took a walk around the neighborhood and are happy we could see this gem on our trip.
Andy Meyerhofer
Very well done museum by the people. Casual viewers want the 1 hour tour
Steve Speck
Awesome place! Look forward to seeing more of this Frank Lloyd Wright home. He is iconic! The gardens were very nice as well. Go visit!
semper crescis
Awesome place. Tons of history.
Lauren Hare
Our guide was very knowledgeable about the house and it's architecture. The tour goes through almost the entire home and what you aren't able to see is well explained. The home is beautiful and a great piece of Wright's history. Our guide was also able to tell us some history of the Wichita area. The gift shop is also very nice and has a good collection of FLW designs.
Daryl Rodrigues
Sadly the house was.closed.to.tours due to Covid 19 whilst we were in Wichita. I'll certainly do anYouTube search to see what the inside looks like.
Shanna Marshall
We booked our tour online and then just used our name to check in. The main tour guide seemed to be a bit hesitant in her presentation however the second guide was very good. The house is outstanding and once again Frank Lloyd Wright was ahead of his time! If it weren't so hot we could've spent more time in the garden as it is beautifully restored. It was very disturbing to learn things are being stolen out of the house during the tours, shame on the people taking bits of history! This is well worth the admission!
Ben Robsinson
If you’re into architecture or history then this is a must visit. The guided tours are very informational and the place is inspiring
Myndy Brandes
I can't believe I haven't been to visit until now. Our guide was very knowledgeable and I learned so much. This was something unique and fun to do in Wichita... definitely would love to go back when the garden is in full bloom!
Karen Gustavson
Seeing the architecture for the first time was a wonderful experience. What I didn’t know was going to happen was that I would learn about the occupants of the house and the impact of Design and function in the occupants Daily life
From a different time periods. The docent And the tour of the house Was outstanding.
Mark Willis
Amazing details and historical description by a well versed tour guide. Highly recommended.
Apryl Bontrager
Great tour! I loved it! It was very eye opening to see a house so hip that was designed over 100 years ago. The people were very nice and friendly. The house is very glorious and unlike anything I've ever seen.
Roger Johnson
Got to have appointments this Tour on certain days
Cooley81
Very interesting place to visit and the staff here are amazing. We actually clean the home as a subcontractor for another company located here in Wichita and have seen about every inch of this building every week for well over a year now and I'm still intrigued by the history and craftsmanship. When we did the initial walkthrough we got a small piece of the history of the home. Ironically enough I've considered attending a guided/ private tour.
Barbara Schroeder
Wonderful tour! Do the Grand Tour if possible. We spent more than 2 hours and got amazingly detailed info!
Vernon Beenken
Very interesting, a lot of architecture went into the design and functionality of the home for efficiency.
Jenny Fazio-Wilson
Enjoyed the 2-hour tour with a friend. It is a beautiful home with great architecture and an interesting history. The tour guide was very informative. The cashier in the gift shop was nice and helpful.
Trish G
Well worth the ticket price. If you like architecture & Frank Lloyd Wright you should go. We have always wanted to see this house & were glad we went. For a 100 year old house it's surprising. Frank Lloyd Wright was very innovative & creative.
Melody Shaw
This was a fantastic tour. I've long admired Frank Lloyd Wright's architecture and never dreamed I'd ever get to see his work. I was thrilled to see the last of the prairie homes that Wright designed. I'd recommend this tour to everyone.
Shane Patrick
What an awesome experience. Frank Lloyd Wright’s last prairie-style house has been preserved to a great extent and is captivating to tour. A week before I visited Wichita I had no idea it was there – super glad I found it!
John Duncan
After having toured the FLW house in Grand Rapids, MI, this house was a bit of a shock. Some renovations have been made but more are needed. We were on a 1 hour tour and didn't get to see the whole house. Not complaining, just saying that there are 2 and 3 hour tours that can be had that show more of the house. Dedicated and enthusiastic group that work at the house is a plus. They enjoy their jobs and it shows.
Tiffany Rupp
The house is only accessible via tours which you can find out more about by visiting the website. Even though there are pictures of the interior rooms here they ask that you do not do this. The tour is well done. Gift shop is more like a book shop. It's a bit disappointing to see some rooms are being used just for storage and office space.
Douglas Terhune
I am not usually a fan of museums, and I had been to this one yrs ago. Recently I joined a group tour of the museum.....MUCH has changed. The restoration has opened up a lot more of the building and the Docent Dee Starkey was extremely knowledgeable and personable. I learned a lot and had a very enjoyable experience.
Ward Rowell
We took the standard tour and it was great. Randy, our guide was knowledgeable and friendly and very thorough. Very interesting. It was was first Frank Lloyd Wright house we've seen.
Kay Roberts
I loved visiting Architectural Sites . The Administrater was a friend and previous partner in an architectural firm so it was nice to visit with him and his daughter who assists him. This is the third time being there. I never get tired of seeing the talent of design either in buildings or art works.
laura creekmore
A wonder tour full of great information
Auburn Stoner
Absolutely beautiful. It had nice touched all throughout. From gilded gold mortar inside to the flowiness of the home.
Randy gave an amazing tour which was at a nice pace and filled with plenty of knowledge. Definitely want to go again.
Andrew McCoy
Loved it. Very interesting to see the house and everything he designed. Also enjoyed the history of the house as well!
Nancy Dinell
We attended a Tea on the patio and then toured the home. It was a wonderful experience. The docents were quite knowledgeable which enhanced our experience. I'd love to go back. There are so many details to admire.
Richard Bucholz
Had a wonderful tour of this early Wright house. If you are a devotee of Frank Lloyd Wright this is a must see!
Chris B
Great House, very knowledgable tour guides. However I left the tour very disappointed since they would not allow us to take interior photographs. I was particulalry frustrated since we travelled all the way from Texas via Kansas City for this tour, hoping to take home some ideas for remodelling out 1907 historic house. Interior photos if Wrights other buildings around Illinois this was never an issue....we took photos of Wright's House and Robbie House in Illinois, and will use those to influence our house. We have already forgotten this Witchita house, and we only went yesterday.
Jeff
Really enoyed the grand tour! Sonja was great and made it a very enjoyable experience!
Pat Glazer
We've toured several Frank Lloyd Wright buildings, including Taliesin and Taliesin West as well as FallingWater, in our opinion the Allen House rnks up among the best. If you are a Frank Lloyd Wright fan do not miss it, if you aren't a fan now, go and you will be. Our 2 guides were knowledgeable and informative and pleasantly enthusiastic. Wonderful experience.
Jeff Hughes
Wonderful staff, the docent who did our tour is amazing. I have been to several FLLW locations and she knew information that I had never heard elsewhere.

The Frank Lloyd Wright Allen House was a fantastic experiance to see the birth of modern design sytles. Even over 100 years later your can still feel the genius designs flowing though the space. If u are in town, I would highly recomend, as a way to see what a house should always strive to be.
Brian McCreary
This was our first time hearing of Frank Lloyd Wright, but our tour guide Sonja was very informative and provided so much information. We'll be sure to look at more buildings he has built.
oscar yuji
At the end I saw a great work by the master and I was very pleased to experience the surroundings, the exterior and interior views and, above all, I think I have captured that space and planes that characterize it. Recommended.
Meghan Schott
