Reviews of Exploration Place
Aliza Brown
I’ve been here a couple times and the interactive exhibits are great fun to play with, even for adults. This is definitely not your typical look and read museum. Almost all of the exhibits in here are engaging in some way. The flight simulator however was hands down my favorite thing in the museum. I probably spent a little too much time at that particular exhibit. Great place to come with kids or to awaken your inner child with friends.
Shawna Patton
Exploration place is a wonderful place for kids with lots to do regardless of the child’s age. We brought a 9 month old and two year old and both children were entertained. There is a section for ages five and under that kept both children busy for at least an hour. There was a castle section with a castle to explore, a knight, and fake animals to sit on. The two year old really enjoyed exploring that. There was also a section that explored possible careers as well. It had a medical helicopter that was the two year old absolutely loved. All in all we enjoyed the experience. The kids fell asleep as soon as we got back to the car. I would definitely recommend visiting when you have some time.

My kids LOVE this place and honestly so do I. The exhibits are very well put together, live science shows are always amazing and they love to get kids involved. There's so much I could say about how great it is but you really should go check it out for yourself. Don't forget to check out the dome theater.

What a great time exploring another museum. An amazing space, plenty of water and sanitizing stations… a mix of everything. Their walk along guides were knowledgeable too.
Lauren B
This was one of our first little stops after having just moved to Wichita from Idaho. The kids were super stir crazy and needed some hands-on things to do.
The price is alright but it was worth getting my kids out of the house.
There are different sections for aerospace, hands-on trinkets, an area for what it’s like as an astronaut, and more. It was really really great for all of us, even the adults.
Andrew Kon
Exploration place is always fun. There is so much going on and the new dog exhibit was cool. The boys enjoyed seeing how fast they could run in one of the exhibits. Thank You to Envision for having us out. It was great to see all the art on display and the artists behind them made by the early childhood development center.
Osva Kasenberg
We have season passes, so you know we must enjoy it. You don't have to worry about the kids breaking anything and they learn quite a bit while they play. I enjoy being here. Not a boring place.
demi garza
A great place to take the kids to get out of the heat/cold/rain! A lot of children's museums feel a little gross but they really stay on top of cleaning everything 👌 The exhibits are fun/engaging for a variety of ages. We especially love the miniature train and under5 room! There are tables to sit and eat at so bring a sack lunch or snack! This place is well worth the cost of the membership.
Benjamin Sparks
We are from Kansas City and while visiting Wichita my 4 kids (3, 4, 6 & 9 years old), wife and I went to Exploration Place. It was fantastic! If you've never been to Exploration Place I would highly recommend it. I loved how my kids would ask "What's that say, Dad?". The environment is set to encourage the curious mind for both kids and adults of all ages. Wichita, thank you for a place that fosters a well rounded education in exciting hands on ways.
Jessica Noneya
Crowded but fun as ALWAYS! It WAS theast Saturday to use sunflowe summer pass.
We loved learning about dogs! The boys favorite as always is learning about aircraft. My favorite was seeing all the different fossils have been found in kansas! Giant camels and even sharks! What?! How cool! Evidence of the earth being flooded?
Cassendra Hatzenbuehler
We love going to the exploration place! My mom has a pass and all the grandkids get in on the pass. We have gone many times. It's great that they have changing exhibits.
Kansas Ritch
My 4 year old and I had a BLAST here! There was so much to see and do. Definitely worth it!
A B
What a wonderful visit my child and I had today! (3/31) For a Friday afternoon, it was fairly busy. There were some field trips going on but the associates had it well organized to where it was still easy to navigate the museum without any issue. The front desk associates deserve so much praise! Sabrina makes you feel so appreciated & welcomed. Nathan is very efficient getting checked you checked in. Gabriel greeted with a smile in the Kid’s connection exhibit and interacted with the children. The bathrooms smelled & looked phenomenal. Any associates seen throughout were working hard to keep it a safe and clean environment. Way to go!
Paula Samples
Andrew Jim and I went here because it was cooler inside. The place is very popular. We went through the Sunflower summer program.
S M
Lots of fun exhibits and interactive parts for kids. Educational and hands on.
It was crowded but also a rainy day.
There is a play area specifically for kids 5 and under.
Multiple restrooms and spots for strollers.
Hand sanitizer available throughout.
Located on the river so you can look at the water and see the Keeper of the Plains.
Highly recommend if you have young kids.
Jesse Thomas (Jay)
There is always something new to see here. Some exhibits change frequently, but others stay. This is a great place to bring kids of all ages and for anyone who is interested in science.
Tasha Goldsmith
Went with daughters school on field trip it was alot of fun. Had a blast... the loves castle and the plane and tried claw machine alot no luck ... enjoyed everything except girls taking off... I don't run .
Michael Mayhill
Had a great time. Lots for kids and kids at heart to do, learn and explore. We went mid week and would recommend it over the weekend as you are able to interact with the exhibits more or longer with less pressure for "when is it my turn??!"
The aviation room. This is a well thought out area that explains and gives the hands on experience in the world of aviation. Paper planes to flying a simulator it's all there. Will we be back YES..
Jdub Forlife
Enjoyed a few hours here with the kiddos. As usual they always have something different here. The facility was clean and the staff was friendly. Hours of activities to enjoy for all ages. I recommend you plan on being here 5 or more hours to get the full benefits they offer. Some areas can get a little crowded at times but it's spaced out pretty good to move to something else and return. Your kids will not be disappointed.
Presley Johnson
Always a blast! I take my kids and other's here pretty much every weekend. I recommend going if you want a fun time for your kiddos, plus the revolving exhibit is always great and new. The current dinosaur exhibit is one of the best I've seen in the last year.
The time to enter was significantly longer than normal, usually 1-2 minutes, but waited around 20 minutes this time.
Erin Bales
Always a fun place to take the kiddos. Always clean and workers are nice
Lily Umberger
This was an awesome place to go see on vacation! I myself am a HUGE science nerd, and the exibits are of all sorts of different kinds of science. The exhibits are made in a way that kids and adults alike can enjoy them, and I think that is great because I know that children can get bored easily if they don't have engaging things to do. Not once did I feel like I was 'too old' for the exibits. Totally suggest this! Here are a few photos of some of my favorite exhibits below.
Brandon Williams
I have been to the Exploration Place several times over the years when various family members come to visit. It NEVER disappoints! The Dome Theater is a great twist on immersive film watching and the exhibits range from Aerospace, Health Habits to Kansas geography and history. This doesn't even factor in the traveling exhibits which has covered superheroes to world record holders.
This place has your kids covered for all ages and allows with a lot of interaction. Can't forget that Arkansas River view either!
Highly recommend!
Elizabeth Jefson
I enjoyed seeing the dinosaurs fleshed out and animated. It made it a unique experience. The IMAX theater was fun as well, Dinosaurs in Antarctica. Lots of fun interactive exhibits for the kids. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The miniature Kansas and train exhibit was particularly fun to see and remember the bygone days of the 1950s.
Amalia
Kids loved it. I thought it was a bit pricey but it ended up being one of their favorite places here (we're tourists) so it was worth it. A lot of hands on stuff...I even liked the aviation exhibits.
Valerie Slawson
I took my granddaughter and great-grandson and great-granddaughter. They loved the Thomas the Train exhibit and didn't want to leave! We will be going back again while this exhibit is still there. So much fun watching the joy on their faces!!
Mark Chadwick
I’ve taken my daughter here many times in the past and she loved it. She was 6-7 years old. We had a membership for the last couple of years before we moved to Denver. Denver has a nice interactive children’s museum but my daughter still talks about Exploration Place even after having lived in Denver for over four years.
Andrea Toews
Such a fun place for kids of all ages to explore and learn and see how things work! Kansas in miniature is delightful. The lil kids exhibit with crawling, climbing, sliding was perfect for 2yo. The airplanes were fun for 8yo. The winter games were really neat also. A few exhibits were closed and bathrooms werent the cleanest but it was quite busy also. My children all had a fun time there!
Sheena Youngers
I absolutely love this place. It’s the perfect setting for curious minds. The event space / venue is also incredible. I highly recommend people of all ages check out the Exploration Place. The views are beautiful, the exhibits are awesome, and the staff is super friendly.
For the adults out there, I highly recommend attending the annual fund raising event, “Death by Chocolate”. It’s my favorite charity event and I look forward to it every year.
Eric Lakey
This place was amazing. My wife and I had almost as much fun as our daughter did. And Nathan at the front desk was SUPER helpful while explaining everything we’d be able to do. We spent 3 hours there and our daughter wasn’t ready to leave.
Stephanie Henderson
We love Exploration Place & all it has to offer. Our kids always enjoy the time here. Exploration has something different every time we visit & they are always bringing in new exhibits. We also enjoy the permanent exhibits. Our kids look forward to the castle every trip.
Melissa Routon
We have been here before last year. Was considering bringing our kids back. But after calling and trying find out info. N the worker being very rude saying well just come in because long lines. And being hung up on. I won't be returning. No reason for rudeness and I was driving. So maybe take consideration that potential customers do call as well to ask questions.
Eleasha Mondragon
My son really liked this place there was plenty to do for him and to interact with and for other kids to play with him the only thing I have to say about it is that some of the interactive displays were broken and in the snow wonderland exhibit not sure what it was but they had a fake snow floating around in the air and actually had my mother and son and some other kids coughing really hard I think the fake snow was going up their nose and/ or they were breathing it in and it got stuck in their throat. It was a fun place and a beautiful setup just need some TLC.
Paige Alexander
This is the best place in town to bring our grandkids! They love it and we spend hours at a time playing!
Sarah Peterson
This place is still such a great place to bring kids! Came here years ago and it's still as wonderful as I remember. My girls love the castle and my little boy could have spent longer than we did (all afternoon) in the aero center. In the time we were here I saw staff go through at least three times and sanitize everything.
Nia Love
You should be careful with the staff you hire. A very tall man, I don t know if he was a manager there or what was around the gift shop and entrance. When I went to check out he started grooming my son, playing with his toys and holding them. It was very creepy, my son was scared and so was I. My kids love exploration place.
Nicole B.
We highly enjoyed our time here. It was very interactive. They have a disassembled airplane for kids to explore, missions to Mars, the delorean from back to the future, and so much more!
Ashley Brooks
We bought a pass on a whim and it has been the best investment. My young kids love this place. I love that they are open late on Thursdays so that we can go after work.
Dylan Bond
Such a great place to take the kids to learn and play!
Kirk Twist
A great place to spend the afternoon exploring science, hands on. There's so many great exhibits that are hands on that are great for kids, or adults. They are keeping up the best they can keeping the exhibits clean and safe for everyone. Every 2 hours they close down sections for deep cleaning and sanitizer stations all over. I highly recommend giveing this place a try if you havent already
Walking Circus
Was a super great time for each of my three kids, aged 2, 7 and 9. Loved the Ripley's exhibit! But to be totally honest, I loved everything-really. It was a great 3 hours spent with the kids cool during the summer heat and occupied-not stuck on electronics and learning-incredibly interactive. It's getting to be towards the end of the summer for this Mom and it's places like this that really save us parents from loosing our minds at times.
Nice little cafe and eating area in the middle of the museum, but I saw many patrons that brought their lunch or outside food. The place was clean and the staff were super nice. Definitely a regular for us!!
Shawnna Chandler
Always fun. Staff is often super rude, I couldn't imagine working in a place that has kids and being as disrespectful as some of them are . But the exhibits are always great and as long as we're not having to deal with any of the staff were having an awesome time.
Membership is always worth the money.
Vanna Mccorgary
It’s a super great place for the kids. I’m leaving 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 though because I received a membership as a Christmas gift and when I went to use it today I was treated very poorly by front desk staff. I have a premium membership & that includes 2 adults in the same household(my husband & I) and a guest and our son. When I tried to get a card made feb 6. They didn’t make one so I figured I’ll just get it next time. I go today feb 17th without my husband and I’m told it’s not my membership & cannot use it without him. If they had made our card last visit that never even would have been an issue. I explained the situation he still didn’t believe that the main account holder was my husband. The address is set as our in laws because they gifted it to us and my address on my id doesn’t match theirs because we don’t live with them. He was completely in the wrong and very disrespectful to me. Thankfully we called while inside the building and were helped by a lovely woman! She got it all fixed and gave us some passes. So like I said it’s a great place with mostly great staff but the 3 workers at the desk specifically don’t know how to be nice or how to do their jobs. They turned a simple problem into a mountain. Replace the front desk staff & I think this place would be amazing.
Audrey Schmook
Great place for kids and adults! Lots of neat, interactive exhibits. There’s even an adorable play area for specifically for kids under 5, with a further enclosed section for babies! The building itself is pretty cool, as it’s situated on the Arkansas River. My only suggestion for improvement is to expand the cafe. We would’ve loved to not have to interrupt our visit by leaving the museum for lunch!
Iris Martin
Such a fun interactive experience for kiddos! There's so much to see, and The Dome movie was cool too!
Only in America with the Menis
What a great place for children of all ages. Not only do they have fun but they also learn. Mask is required to enter and they check your temperature. There is a hand sanitaizer at every corner. Very clean and safe.
Veronica Mosqueda
We had a blast and staff was so sweet from front desk helping us get checked in to the custodian Rudy who was so helpful! Also the price of the membership is well worth price and will be well used.
Chris Bloomfield
The museum is housed in a unique building right on the river. We only explored the museum and didn’t catch a show. It’s a large hands on museum with plenty of educational opportunities for little ones. The staff was friendly enough, but done didn’t seem like they cared and were just going through the motions of a job. The castle areas items were scattered everywhere. The Ripley’s Believe It or Not section was super interesting and everyone was impressed with the robotic tallest man! Their flight area was informative and had lots of hands on activities with computerized education displays. Plus they had a remote control forklift that the kids could take turns driving. We spent an entire day here and had a blast!
kim m
My kids ages 13, 7 and 1 had a great time learning. Only reason for the low stars wish the dome theater was open.
Amy Adelina
Always amazing and fun for my little one and even my husband and I. Great experiences and rotating exhibits make it fun year round to go to.
Tiffany Myers
My husband and I took our 1 year old today. Lots to look at but she got bored. Will provide wait to go again until she is a little older.
J Hernandez
Definitely recommend this place for a family wanting to do something with their kids! Kids will have a blast and the exhibits are cool
Chrissy Williams
So much to do. The kids could play in the main castle area forever. The interactive rescue area was great. The 'smoke-filled' house was great for the kids to practice what to do during a potential fire. The plane fuselages, cockpits, and other mid-build pieces were great for the kids to see all the intricacies involved in building a plane. The tornado room, 'tornado', water table, fossil dig were also a big hit. The kids definitely ran out of time and almost missed the miniature room! Allow for 3-4 hours to really spend time at each exhibit.
Nicki Cheney
An awesome experience every time we visit! My kids, 3 & 6, love it here and ask to go every few days. They have a medieval castle with a dress up corner, play stockades & horse riding, a ball shooter, and three levels of castle floors that maze around. There are benches for the adults and video cameras to help keep track of the kids.
The best part (in my kids’ opinions is right next to the castle area. There are a few play areas specifically set up for babies while the oldest kids can have fun climbing the Kansas Skyline, building a tractor, playing shop keeper, pretend cooking & raising chickens, dress up, climb a grain elevator, and experiment with air currents by putting colorful handkerchiefs into the tunnels to watch where they shoot out.
There is also an aviation portion, miniature model of Kansas, prairie area with portions to explore bugs, rocks, dirt, vet care, dinosaurs, weather, and water play!
There is a gift store (doesn’t carry much other than normal toys found in other stores), a cafe, and a very helpful and attentive staff!
Jeff F
My Kids Love this Place!
Plan on a couple of hours just to explore. Then time to touch and learn. I tell my kids to touch everything. Smiles. All the areas have great exhibits. Clean bathrooms, snacks, helpful associates and AC too.
They just need to be open a little later, time just Flys by when we're having fun. Don't tell the children it's educational. . Smiles
Emerie Elise
Great place for kids. I wish they had better crafts. Everytime I've gone (4 times in the last year and a half) its always been the same airplane pipe cleaner craft. Sometimes the moving exhibits are a bit hard for 5 years-7 otherwise great. I love the views from the windows. The water and vet room.
Edward's gaming and hardware
Great family place, lots of learning for everyone, and great staff to answer any questions you have. My family loves to visit, and look forward to going again soon. Had lots of fun making a gingerbread house.
Layla B
A wonderful place to bring kids in. Great exhibits that feature an interesting array of items from airplanes, brain teasers, marvel heroes.
Clean and well maintained facility. Lots of hands on activities for kids at different ages. Love to visit again!
A “Babyjewel” Costew
On a family weekend away. Ran out of time for the Zoo soy son suggest seeing a show at the Dome and visiting Exploration Place. Their theme right now is Ripleys Believe It or Not which the exhibit is fully set up to spend time in and walk through. This place is an amazing Science and very affordable. Also a machine you go in to feel what a tornado is like. Another using fog to show how the wind comes together, creating a tornado. A dig center about dinosaurs and fossils, an exibit to show how ks used to be an ocean floor, building block center, exhibit of miniature KS. Aviation center. There's also a snack area to sit down and eat. Has concessions type food and drinks. Very hand on. My daughter is 16 and loved it as much as my 12 yr old son. Also toddler friendly. Something for everyone.
The Dome is spectacular. No words or pictures do it justice. Very very affordable. It was the best part. Shows are 1 hr long National Geographic presentation and shows are run hourly. Its very beautiful. Audio is done by very small holes in dome that project sound through the screen for a compete 360°surround experience.
Gabriele Schmidgall
There's so much for kids to do. On Sundays there are community vendors for hands on for kids to explore even more science. I stayed there for 5 hrs and there was so much more still to explore. It's worth getting a family membership. The staff is super friendly!
Isaiah Valdez
A children's museum with fun for all ages. Children under 3 are free, and they will enjoy it too! We especially enjoyed the aviation section.
Misty Vaught
This was our second visit. Our group has kids ranging from age 1 to 15 and several adults and everyone enjoys our time there. Our only regreat is that we didn't arrive earlier in the day as we could have spent more time enjoying the exhibits, building towers and playing in the play zone. We all enjoy the mind benders as well. HIGHLY recommend.
Mustafa Kadhim
The membership is a must have for any family with kids. I like the atmosphere and how the workers are keeping the place clean and neat.
Franz Bruyere
Neat place for kids to play, as long as it's not busy. Loved the 'Kansas in Miniatures ' display... Wow!
Denise Emmons
This was such a fun place. Our kids (ages 5, 4, and 2) loved it. We spent a couple of hours there and only did a few exhibits. We are glad we bought the membership so we can go back and do more things. There so many things for them to learn and explore.
Alicia Johnson
We had a 6 year old's birthday party at Exploration Place and the kids had so much fun! Even the teenagers.
The room was clean and ready, communication was informative and friendly. Everyone is helpful and very nice. We will love to come back!
Victoria Parker
Love the exploration place the kids love to come and play they never get tired of it. New exhibits are added making it interesting every time we go.
Jewell Mcvay
Went to exploration place with my nephew over the holidays. He had a blast. The place has really improved since I was his age. I was surprised by the amount of working exhibits. Of course the castle catapult is still out of balls but that seems normal at this point. My nephew even made some fast friends while they were working on directing waterways.
L.O. Bravo
The concept was great but they were very understaffed and not stocked. Many of the interactive exhibits were down or not working and there were no signs to warn/inform you about it. We will be coming back and hopefully things are better.
Suze Crockett
A fun Free evening for my Daughter's after school program. The exhibits are changed a lot and is always interactive, it's an amazing facility.
Amanda Wilson
Exploration place is so exciting for all ages. My 3 year old is entertained for hours and I manage to learn a lot as well.
Hue Gia Gerry Nguyen
Loved the human body exhibit. Kids and adults had lots of fun
Micki Swartz
Many Displays are always changing, so great museum to have a seasonal pass. Not usually overcrowded on weekdays, friendly staff. Does not really have a place to buy lunch anymore, just some snacks but I think you can take lunch in if needed. Friendly helpful staff.
Joe
Always enjoy the Expo. Place. Different exhibits, right now its Popology. Must wear a mask, sanitize every section you go into and they disinfect all the exhibits every hour. Called ahead and was told you don't need to make appointments. Its was AWESOME as ALWAYS.
Sarah Littell
I really want to like exploration place. My kid loves it, I loved it when I was younger. But I can't help but notice the decline in quality and maintenance. Seen at least 5 "out of order" exhibits, and all of the "newer" exhibits are seem cheap and out of place. The upper level in the traveling exhibit room was closed on this visit, and I can help but think of all the ways the space could have been made functional. Seems like they are under staffed and under funded. The new snack bar was nice. Hope to see things improve in the coming years.
Ryk (RykGoodDesu)
A fun, family-friendly science center type atmosphere where the kids can enjoy dining around and discovering things. Also, it's an excellent place for adults who enjoy learning how things work too.
It's best on your first visit, but multiple trips aren't bad either, they just don't rotate the venues, so it's a bit repetitious.
Sarai Williams
Fun fun fun all around more fun
Even with staff shortages this place stayed clean full of excitement and the staff didn’t look overwhelmed I absolutely love this place and so do my kids
Chasity Cook
The kids had so much fun they didn't know what area they wanted to play in most. I really enjoyed the airplanes, The Nano and the medieval play area.
Shalz S
Kids friendly exploration places with lots of live experiences & displays. I loved the Kansas in miniature & the hurricane experience. It was fun. I just felt the entrance fee is a little too much they should make such places a little cheaper so everyone can enjoy it.
karen delaluz
First time visiting the Exploration Place. My kids loved the Paw Patrol exhibit. They enjoyed exploring and learning new things. Would definitely visit again.
Rebecca Barton
Exploration Place is a great place for kids. My kids can always spend a couple hours here and not be bored.
Lucille Richardson
Took my 15 year old grandson and spent 3 hours in complete fascination. The traveling exhibit was the hall of heroes featuring amazing tests and items from comic books.
Finley the Creature
Great place to get small children into STEM. Not recommended if you are over the age of 12. Things are very simplified for the small ones to understand. Gift shop has many puzzles and little gadgets to take home, albeit at a high price.
Mary Rose
A little crazy there today because it was a rainy, windy day during Spring Break. However, great place for kids to run and explore!
Lahiru Fonseka
This actually nice place to take your kids there. Because there are so many things that kids can do. And also this place surrounded by nice natural environment. That environment make you relax down.
avida zarei
Very nice experience for adults and children. My son is 11 and he was quite amazed from the dome show ans hover show.
Strongly recommend
Natalee Armfield
My 19month old daughter Loves the kids connection area for kids 5 & under. She gets to play & meet other kids her age. The toys in the little kids area are clean & well kept. I've seen employees check & clean the little kids area when we are there. It's nice to know it's checked on more than once a day. They even have a basket for toys that need to be cleaned. The other areas are not as much fun for her yet, but that will come in time as she grows.
Adam Hendricks
Very nice museum! What's more is they take part in what they call the Blue star program in which military enter free. So we had a wonderful time and it didn't cost me a thing!
Jessica Schmitz
This is definitely designed for kids but us adults still had fun. They had some puzzles that were hard and some cool experiments. But it was nice to get out of the car on the road trip and walk through this place.
phillip gonzales
it was a nice place to spend a few hours with the kids and even the adults. I recommend going during the week if you can. We went on a Monday and it was pretty wide open.
Joshua Culifer
It was cool but I feel like my son would have liked it more if he was on a field trip with his class or something.....can't complain about the freeness of the whole thing since it was free! As my first time going though it was fun but kinda boring at the same time but then again I'm almost 40 years old....
Rachel Leonard
Awesome place!! The kids loved it. Something for all ages.. We learned so much.. I would recommend it ro anyone. Home school or school trips of any kind..
Anastasia Gregory
This was a wonderful place to spend the day at in Wichita. Tons of educational activities and it keeps children entertained for hours! There is plenty of seating for adults scattered throughout. The castle play area has video cameras inside the castle so you never lose sight of your child. We even enjoyed the gift shop. Really really fun! The landscape and building were gorgeous! Everything looks brand new.
Chris Foster
The film was about the tallest mountain. if you have never experienced this place you have not lived. I'm not a movie buff nor do I like 3d. This place made me reevaluate what I have missed in my previous 20 years of life. It was life changing.
stacy jesseph
Good family fun just wish they would change things up a little more! Also, a little over priced unless you buy the season pass for the family. My kids little kids love it, the older kids not as much.
Chatasha (StAyOuT)
Luckily we got to experience this for free. I had a great time with family and friends. Wouldn't recommend children 4 and younger.
Virginia McClatchey
Exploration Place is geared more for children and learning. My husband decided to go because it was our 41st anniversary. I still loved it. It was worth th money. Something different and we learned sonething.
Jonathan Scholtz
Went with one of my sons and his 2 boys. My grandsons love this place. I hope that they invite me again. I understand now why they have a family membership.
Nalia Acevedo
We had so much fun, and I am very thankful for both couples that helped out my grandchildren and I. What a treat. Reminds you of the Science museum of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City.
Mike Neifert
Such a great museum for kids and adults alike. Lots to learn about science!
Ebony McDaniels
Had a great time here. I really enjoyed screen in the dome theater. It was cool learning about the pandas. The staff was nice and friendly. Cool place to visit for all ages and cost efficient.
Michael Nichols
Crowded but fun as ALWAYS!
Katie Hall
Very glad this place is a HarvestHost or we wouldn’t have stayed downtown. Loved the museum
Indu Bala Grover
It is a fun place for both children and adults and could be planned for whole day outing. Gift shop is little pricy, which is same in any museum.
Nikki Armstrong
The artic adventure zone is great! My kiddo loved it. Really let's them get rid of a lot built up energy.
Lisa Coogias
A great place to take kids of all ages. They have an area for kids 5 and under that looks like a lot of fun. The castle is always a hit. Lots of fun things to do throughout.
Sam Knepper
Good museum for the kids and not too bad for adults either. The admission was very reasonable with lots to do.
Carissa Hatcher
So much fun! Kids loved it and had a good laugh! The exhibit was fun for the kids!!!
Lita Bug
Overall it's a pretty good place with a lot of walking if you're up to that definitely recommend also their gift shop is amazing
Fernando Froude
Really fun taking our son out, super nice settings for children and some cool things for the parents too!
Dinusha Jackson
Great place to take kids with a nice area for kids under 5 and a really nice playground with 3 sets for different ages.
Jay Miller
What a fun place to take the kids. We went in the morning when they opened and then walked to lunch. After we were able to get back in and play a couple more hours. The kids had a blast and got a bunch of energy out while learning new things. This place should be on anyone's list of places to go if you have kids.
Da Clark
It was fun. Many hands on activities for the little ones. Movie in the dome... awesome 😎. There is a little food area and a gift shop.
Sheila Tigert
Excellent exhibit! As always, we had a fantastic experience. A great experience for all!
Sydney Taylor
I took my 4 year-old son here while we were in from out of town, and he's a huge fan of science/interactive museums. This place did not disappoint. There was SO much to do! His strategy was to go through everything once and then go back to the areas he liked the best to really spend some quality time there. He spent the most time in the body exhibits, the castle area, and seeing how fast he could run in the dog exhibit. He was thoroughly worn out by the time we left! There were a few activities that weren't working properly, which was a bummer, but there were so many other activities to do that it wasn't a big deal. And there was a summer camp of some older kiddos there who were pretty rowdy, but the museum is so big that we were able to move away from them as needed. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely be going back next time we're in Wichita!
David Montgomery
Exploration Place is truly a gift to the Wichita area! So much so that despite the fact that 5/6 of the exhibition area doesn't change at all; on a regular basis, our family has maintained a yearly membership with them for 4 years running, and will continue to until our daughter loses all interest in going there at all. If you need something to keep your kids busy for an entire day, you'll definitely appreciate Exploration Place. It's the same price as a matinee at any local theater, but way more likely to educate them, entertains them way longer than 2 hours, and can potentially help them burn enough energy that they might actually sleep that night! Definitely highly recommend!
Shari Smith
A little pricey, good place to go now & then with the kids. The shows in their theater are always good that we've seen.
Heather Urich
Really cool place, great parking, and an awesome building! A must-see in Wichita !
Jennifer Lutz
Such a fun place to learn and explore different things in life. Fun for adults and children!
Jacob W
Great place for kids! We spent hours there with our five year old.
Penny Reid
Management is doing a very good job in these days of Covid. They have shoe cleaning mats to walk through after entering, the first of many hand sanitizing stations to use and a greeter that does a quick temp scan. Then you check in. Employees walk the spaces regularly and clean. Hand sanitizer stations at the entrance to every area of exhibits. And a spray sanitizing crew available to clean complete exhibits. Very well done. You know - science based at the science center. So much to do and participate in. Different ages learn at their own rate of understanding and ability. I went with a 7 and 4 year old. It was fast paced as they would see the next great possibility. The aerospace exhibit is really quite extensive and filled with all aspects of flight. Amazing really. I want to go back by myself to really be able to experience it all and learn. All our museums need our support during these crazy times. We had whole exhibits to ourselves or just a few other families - particularly in the younger kids areas. You won't be disappointed.
Courtney Garrison
This place was amazing for kiddos, we brought a wide variety of ages (3, 8, and 12) and there was something to do for everyone. We were able to get in free with the Summer Sunflower app! The Exploration Place has interactive exhibits for health, aviation, mechanics, groceries, air flow, animals, and more. Highly suggest that you take your kids here for some science fun!
Stacey Stamps
Exploration Place was the perfect location for my daughter's dream wedding! She & her fiancé (now husband) are Wichita elementary school teachers who invited their students to be in the wedding party. They wanted a location that was beautiful & that the children would also love! She was thrilled to say her vows standing in front of floor-to-ceiling windows in Waterwalk Hall. The architecture is lovely all-around and every photo was made even better by the outdoor view. (And the kids had plenty to look at if their attention span was short.) NBC Nightly News & Inside Edition were there filming the wedding & reception and the EP team was professional, accommodating, & genuinely happy for us. I would give 10 stars if I could!
Krista S
My kids grew up going to Exploration Place, but we hadn't gone since 2019. We went today and I was pleasantly surprised to see all staff wearing masks (and most even wearing quality masks) and disinfecting surfaces! I don't think I have seen that anywhere in more than a year. Nice to know that they are a science center that is following the science. As a family of high risk persons, we appreciate this so much! I made sure to buy a membership before we left.
Joy Ahrens
Kids love this place. The Imax movie we watched was more for adults than kids. There are lots of hands on experiences for kids.
Sarah W
A lot of the hands-on activities in the exhibits were not working and needed maintenance. But it didn't take away from the wonderful experience that we had with the activities that were working. It can get a little crazy in the indoor castle area but otherwise a great educational stop for the young ones! We would definitely go back!
Kate Watts
We enjoyed this alot! It is easy to get turned around with all the different exhibits and interactions for the kids to do. Make sure you have lots of time, to see and experience everything! Only thing I would change as an adult is more consistency with the air conditioning or air flow. That issue is probably due to the amount of large pane windows. Highly recommend for educational and entertainment for kids.
Dana Wright
It's good science center for kids 2 to 12ish. We have yet to ever do the planetarium or theatre cause we are too busy doing all the interactive exhibits. A great place to take the kids on rainy day.
Stephanie Colley
Great for kids of all ages, neat hands on exhibits, run dome theater, and beautiful architecture with nice views of downtown. The tickets are reasonable and this is a nice way to enjoy special perks of Wichita!
Krystle Rees
If you have kids, you'll want to take them here. It's large so plan on a couple of hours. I really like how the exhibits change. It gives it a new feel every couple of months.
Alexandra Musgrave
This place was perfect to take my little brother and hang out with my family. The prices are all really great too. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is because they don't allow strollers into the theater. They said we could leave the stroller out but I'm not comfortable with that and my son is really heavy to carry and cannot walk yet. Plus, with all of our belongings to carry around from traveling a couple hours, that makes it even harder. I wish at least they could have told us this information while paying. Otherwise, it's a very informative and interactive place to take kids!
William Singleton
Always have fun when I go, usually learn something new and enjoy learning it. Amazing place to go to with family and friends to have “family friendly” time. If you’ve been before there’s always something new you can do there with the rotating topics the Exploration Place hosts. I’ve enjoyed it since I was old enough to remember and still like going there.
Betty Babcock-Sanner
Great time with my family. Kids ran themselves right into a nap. Paw patrol was by far the best exhibit for my 4yr old twins
Derese McAbee
The exhibits are great & the dome theater is a wonderful experience. However, beyond that I love their after hours events! The staff is so welcoming & friendly that you feel like you're already friends even though you've just met.
Jaleena Scott
Such a fun place to go with your kids! I think my husband & I had just as much fun as they did. ❤️ And we all enjoyed the dome theater movie that we saw, I think it was called "SuperDogs!" We will definitely go back again soon. ☺️
Crystal Shackelford
They added some more exhibits to the human anatomy section. The Dinosaurs exhibit wasn't as exciting as it was cracked up to be. No one was manning the concession stand either.
L A
A very good place to spend the day with your family. Many interactive displays for everyone to use. They also have a display that changes every so often and provides some new things for the kids and family to learn about. The IMAX theater is amazing and make you feel like your in the movie.
Erika Fehrenbacher
I love going to Exploration Place with my son and seeing new exhibits
Christopher Clark
Explanation place always blows me away with new exhibits. I was there for their annual death by chocolate fundraising event and eat way too much chocolate.
Ammi
I'm so thankful for this place. There is always so much for my kids to do there and they change out the exhibits often so there's something new for the kids (and adults) to explore. The coolest thing, but far, was the body exhibit they had many years ago. They also have an amazing dome theater that literally surrounds you. Oh and don't miss their gift shop that is every nerd's dream shop! Seriously. Lots of super cool stuff in there!
Aside from their every day shuffle they also hosts really awesome events...like the annual Death By Chocolate event. It's on my bucket list to someday be able to afford a ticket to that.
Rusty Cox (HearNoEvil)
This is the best place to take your kids to expose them to science and creativity in a fun way!
Jonathon Yapp
Great option for kids who love science or are naturally curious. My Asperger's (autistic) child went nuts with all the info and was so excited I could barely keep an eye on him!
Eat before coming, though... There's only a snack bar here.
Brenda Jo Falkenberg
I took a group of kids on a field trip. It was alot of fun for all the kids and adults.
Angie Muether
We have been members of EP for years. We always have fun when we visit, if it’s for a special event, birthday party or just a visit to the exhibits.
Joshua Simpson
What a cool experience for adults and kiddos, fart chair is a hit!
Candace Perisho
Our family of seven really enjoyed the visit. We purchased a membership, as the $80-ish price was far more economical in the long run. The castle exploration area, the flight technology area, and the ecology areas were our favorites. There is a brain teaser area.
Everything is super interactive and kids friendly. Every single one of us, from ages 1 to 10 to adult, felt welcome to explore and learn. The gift shop is pricey but worth it, and there is a little concession area.
Henry Cross
Beautiful, large, and well designed Science center with plenty of activities for the kids.
Connie Riddle
always love this place. Love the different exibitions they have. And a very fun place for the family. Lots for kiddos to do
Dennis Kamstra
Went here with our great nephew who is 8. My wife and I are in our late 60's and enjoyed it as much as he did.
R Stafford
Great place to spend the day with the kids/grandkids. Tons of stuff to do and see. Lots of inneractice diaplays
Eva Miller
I went here with my sons class for a field trip. They all had a blast.
India
We really enjoyed walking through and it was definitely worth the money. Everything is pretty much hands on so the kids will not get bored. My only complaint is that there is a station where the kids yell (LITERALLY) to the TOP OF THEIR LUNGS. This made the experience not so enjoyable. Hundreds of kids yelling at once, not cool. It was fun to do once but I will definitely not be returning as long as the "yell station" is there.
Amos Swepston
It was such a fun experience, friendly people and great atmosphere for the whole family!
Trex Trex
Lovely place full of great family and kiddo stuff to do.
Lisa Serck
Just as fun as the last time I went with my grandsons! So many things to enjoy. We had a wonderful time playing and learning!
Crystal Flanagan
Love the exploration place, Great place to take kids and grandkids and all n all family !
Mary Johnson
Great summer hot day activity! Lots to learn
The Rural Companion
Museum is fun for younger kids. Clean facility. Most exhibits work, some didn't.
No no-sugar added options at café. Would enjoy a black coffee or caffeine option that doesn't contain any added sweeteners, real or artificial. Maybe healthier snack options as well.
Brian Chilton
What a really great place for learning and fun. We took our kids (2 And 4) and they couldn't handle the amount of fun they where having. Tons of interactive exhibits for kids, they where so great I kept finding myself really interested too! We only had a few hours but could have easily stayed all day long. Do yourself a favor and take your family their for a fun day away from the screens!
Phoebe Janzen
A wonderful interactive place for children of all ages. Very interesting for adults as well.
Jill Weidenbener
I have loved Exploration Place for a long time. Most years I have had a membership and have spent all day over and over with the kids in my life 🙃 Today, however, may have ended a wonderful run for me. Now they have as part of a permanent exhibit a machine for kids to scream into to see how many decibels they can get to. I don't know how many more days
I can spend listening to one child after another scream as loud as they possibly can.
April Elder
My kids loved it! Lots to do for all ages.
Aundre Young
This place is wonderful! There is so much that you can do here. If I could, I would come here every single day.
Mindi Woosypiti
Great place to take the kids for a family event!
Charlotte Smith
We loved it...Had a great time....Very Friendly.
Laura McGhee
The COOLEST candy store I've ever been to! With friendly staff and a super clean store, I just loved it here!
Austin West (TheRealAyWest)
Some very fun stuff here. Great educational fun! I did notice a lot of the activities were broken/out of service at some places. Also I wondered around looking for a sanitizer station and every single one was out. With that many people in one area you need to be on top of sanitizer refills. Other than that, great place with a friendly staff!
Christina Farres
Such a fun place to go, especially if you have kids.
Rachel Gulart
The castle was my kids favorite place i don't know if it was because covid or its just run down lots of zatiob was missing item. I was here some years ago and it was way better
Tami Ekstrom
The grands enjoyed the freedom to move around and touch everything. They played hard and even learned some new things!
Gary Kudrna
Really fun for the whole family.
Shawn Maness
Kids enjoyed it. No exhibit that jumps out at you, run of the mill stuff. The employees were very friendly and seemed to be everywhere which is nice.
Mayra Mercado Pimentel
It was so fun! Plenty of exhibits for my family to enjoy 😁 Very kid friendly and adult friendly as well. I think what I liked most was the dome experience. It made you feel like you were immersed in the screening. Gift shop was full of cool items for adult and kids. Every area you walked through had a great viewing of the beautiful scenery outside. Definitely going to come back here again.
Nick Hammel
Had a fun time, lots of different exhibits and learning opportunities for kids. Would recommend for children 3 and up, our 18 month old was a little too small for most exhibits but still had a fun time exploring with some assistance. Very crowded on weekend afternoons it seems, plan accordingly.
Don Larcom
Used the Kansas Sunflower app for FREE entry. It was very busy and several exhibits were not working. The girls liked it but I guess was expecting more.
John P
Fun, well organized and clean. A little smaller than I expected.
Jacqueline Martinez
Always something so cool and great activities
Trish Saunders
Was the best thing for kids to do on a Sunday
Roger Martin
An awesome place to take your kids! Great exhibits and a neat location along the Arkansas River.
Cherri Bloxsom
We went on a really hot day and it was nice. It was super busy though and there were little kids running around everywhere making it very hard to check out anything. It was super loud in there that day. We will go back but we will choose better timing with less crowds.
Steph Moler
We are members here. We love the traveling exhibits. My kids love to play here. My only reason for 4 starts instead of 5 is because the older lady who did the science show was not very friendly. Other than that, we love spending hours playing and exploring here.
OH NO A NIGGA
I always leave a trade but this case I got there in plenty of time for the blocks go out there the speed a very steady and that pretty much makes a difference in getting somebody as fast as Gavin lux to get double up at first base secondary I saw right behind home plate here came down and went around a picture 3 to 413 is what they figured out the pool at the house or science people through that I don’t know if it’s like Alyosha
Quincy Krill
We used the sunflower summer app and got in free (1 adult, 2 gradeschool age kids, and 1 2yo) it was packed but it was also a saturday before the 4th of july so thats to be expected.
I do wish that the toddler/infant play area had everything working, there was very little for my 2yo to get to interact on her own with
Johanna Brensing
It was a good experience, kids have a playground to play and there is things to do for kids.
But it’s a bit pricy for what it is
Greg Wilson
Lots of fun interactive educational things for kids and adults, and an amazing dome theater (you feel surrounded by the movie).
Shane Elkins
Always a good time!! Kids love it! Plus great views outside (for the mom in me)! 😜 …
Lori Kerwood
We had a great time with our little people! Would love to go back just for the temporary exhibits and spend more time reading! The survival exhibit was super informative! Our crew loved The Lava Challenge too!
Barb (KSAviatorGal)
Had a lot of fun at the new exhibit with the DeLeorean.
David Yoder
Incredible interactive experience for the whole family. Extremely kid friendly. VERY friendly and helpful staff. We were so taken in we bought a family annual pass so we can bring all our grandkids throughout the year.
Jakob Weldon
My son loves it here. Fun for all ages
J STEPHEN WILLIAMS
Amazing venue with so much to see and do.
JD Kirk
Perfect place to bring your kids! So much fun tied in with so much to learn. It's awesome!!
Casey Crowell
The new permanent exhibit is great! Very interactive.
Adriana Fisher
Lots of fun for kids especially with it being so hot out!
Emily Smith
We had so much fun!!
Brenley Ransome
This is a great place to go on a hot day. The aviation exhibit was very well thought out. We have gone several times in the past two weeks and there is always something new to discover.
I hope they take the time to repair some of the exhibits that aren't working and to really clean the place up.
Four stars because the only exhibits that were appealing were the aviation section and the castle.
Mark Shipley
So much to see and do that we didn't have time to do it all!!! We all loved it!!!
Felisha Neyer
Overall it great experience for the most part. However, other people's unattended children made it difficult for my kids to do or try some of the things.
Beto Rodriguez
Plenty of things for kids to enjoy. Adults too can have a good time, the dome theater is also a great option for the family. Check out the big gift shop before you go!
Stepsikul
Ah the Exploration Place.. I haven't been here since I was just a mere small child, honestly it was my favorite place to go back then! (the castle was probably my favorite part) in all honesty it's a fun place to bring the whole family if your looking to kill some time, alot of sciencey stuff there haha.
Meg Matlock
Loved it, my 7 year old can't wait to go again
Nick Hutchison
A wonderful sight in Wichita. always full of fun attractions. it's a staple of Wichita that is a required visit for most anyone visiting to indulge their curious side.
Joanna Nunez
Everyone had a blast! Kids ages are 1, 3, and 5 and they were all entertained. There were a lot of fun activities that I even got lost in!
Michael Peterson
What a fun place to bring the kids on a cold winter day!
Faye Ruzicka
The Center itself was great! So much to do for a range of ages. The only disappointment was how heavily they enforced masks when their own facilities were not clean or sanitized once during our visit of 3 hours. If you’re going to monitor and run people down to wear a mask, then be diligent all the way and make sure everything is being cleaned properly. Kids are running rampant and touching everything.
Claire Holden
This place is great! My kids love it and would stay for hours. The rotating exhibit is great because it keeps things fresh and fun. They’re a bit strict about facemask/cleaning requirements, but I appreciate their desire to keep everyone healthy. The family membership is a great deal of you want to go regularly or even occasionally.
Thomas Wilson
Great place for young children to learn about our natural world with interactive resources. Think of documentary films (such as one presented by Robert Redford), a real tornado making machine, travelling exhibits (featured now is Health Inside Out by the KU School of Medicine), and other exciting surprises!
If you are a tourist travelling with your family to Wichita or just live in the area, check this place out.
Randy Sebastian
I have been a visitor since my son was a small boy. We had countless trips under our belt and now Christopher is just a semester away from his Civil Engineering Degree at Utah St. The only credit i deserve is instilling a desire to understand mechanisms by nurturing curiosity just by opening his desire to question the world around him. Not "what time is it?"but " what is time" Exploration place is priceless its reach boundless they expands the minds of our children beyond what any parent can teach or even conceive. Teach them more than you will ever know open the door to Explore
Ethan Cornett
The perfect mixture of kid-friendly and whole-family fun. There are things for toddlers to grown ups to enjoy. The Dome Theater is a must for any first-timer.
Mary Aboubker
Food was hot and was good. Service was spotty. Bought some good Honey there.
Samuel Stewart
I really enjoyed my first visit there. It was a lot of fun. I wasn't able to view 4k Dome theater but everything else was pretty fun to see
Dan Ipson
Fairly decent. Loved the flight area. Some fun mind puzzles. A few things didn't work.
Jeroen Sack
Went to the Kansas Dome movie, was the only one in the theater. Great experience.
Cindy Corbin
I would like to personally thank an employee, Sophie, who assisted me in a very embarrassing situation. She was kind, empathetic, and did her very best to offer assistance to help me. I will forever be in her debt. Thank you, Sophie and the incredible staff at Exploration Place. You made this out of state tourist feel safe and realized there is kindness left in this world.
Kyle Beauchamp
Had a great time with my son (4) at EP for a friend's birthday party. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
There's something for kids of all ages here. We ended up spending a lot of time by the medieval castle.
Tyler Geisler
Spent 4 hours there and still missed so much. Great place for all ages.
Cassandra Smith
Exploration place is an amazing place for children to explore everything about kansas. From wild life to geology. The miniature kansas is my favorite part. Kids of all ages are free to enjoy different activities
Johnny Housel
Was Awesome time with the family. We had all age groups and there was something for everyone!
Brittnee Ransome
Super great place to spend the day! We took our 5 year old and spent from 10am until 1pm there easily. He would have stayed longer but we needed to get some lunch. We are staying at the new Hilton right by the library and easily walked to the museum from here.
Akash Thambiran M
Great fun place for kids and families with lot of stuff to learn
Erinn Mitsch
Great place, plenty of different exhibits. We attended a live science show and the guy was engaging and fun. (I forget his name, but he built a hoverboard!) There was another gentleman who helped us figure out some of the logic puzzles. Every employee was friendly and helpful. Highly encourage families to come. Their gift shop is also awesome!
Ali Denison
Such a wonderful place to take kids. Exciting and adventures behind every corner for the whole family.
Crystal Salyer
It is so much fun for my kid
Tim Voegeli
Absolutely fantastic place to take kids of all ages. We bought a family membership after our first visit.
edwin morris
Granddaughter Kaitlyn Pearson (Keck) was inducted into Friends University's Hall of Fame
Megan Wilde
We have a blast every time we go. Membership is worth every penny- especially since it gets you into other museums when you travel!
April West
Exploration place is so much fun to go to
james schaefer
Excellent family experience. Something for all ages.
Carrie Rosell
It's a great place for children of all ages.
Loretta Lucas
Absolutely had a good time at exploration place so many exhibits especially the survival exhibit a lot of stuff for kids to do to stimulate their minds would definitely go back again to see the lava exhibit
Juan M
So much to do and explore! We spent 3 hours and kids still weren't ready to leave!
snl munroe
My kiddos (11&15) loved the shark movies and exhibit that has been there this summer along with all the other exhibits that they remembered exploring when they were younger.
edgar hernandez
Great place. Time goes flying when you're having fun. Kids love it. Membership is worth it. Recommend it.
Valerie J. RN
We always love our visits here! Staff is friendly and the store has so many great options in products offered. We especially enjoy the dome theater. Highly recommend visiting if you are a local or vacationing in. Very family friendly and interactive environments for all ages.
Don Railsback
Great place for the kids on a cold afternoon. There on a Sunday and the crowds weren't too large. Numerous visits to keep the little ones engaged for hours and reasonably priced.
Abby Renberger
Great fun for all ages!
Great Plains Traditional Bow Co.
My kids loved the exploration place and the dome theater truly is amazing. I would suggest sitting higher up tho if you get dizzy.... actually I would suggest sitting higher up period cause I think it's a bit better experience. The gift shop at the exploration is quite incredible. I have never done a review on a gift shop but the sheer amount and variety of their inventory is amazing. Also I would like to add that it's not junky things. Actually quite innovative. Truly worth the money
misty buchanan
Kids had a blast, Tons of stuff to see and do, we easily spent all day there, will definitely go again....
John Morrison
So much to do and learn. They change the topic on a regular basis. IMAX theater is so fun. Great place for kids
Daniel Neu
My 3 year old daughter really enjoys this place. Her favorite locations are the Medieval play castle and the young explorers room. The explorers room is great if you have very young children because it's and enclosed space that is safe and you don't need to worry as much about your child getting away. The castle is great but does require a little more supervision. It's clearly meant for older children.
All in all a great time was had.
Edit July 2022
So in recent years it's become a lot more run down and unmaintained. The aircraft area is basically just broken displays that don't work. My 7 year old was confused and bored. There was a health display in the center that was the same. Just broken displays that didn't interest my daughter at all. The castle is still OK, though showing a lot of wear. I feel like they should have used the downtime from the pandemic to get the place fixed up, but instead it feels like they don't have much of a budget anymore. Considering how expensive it is to get in, I'm a bit shocked at the state of the place.
Raleigh Bourgeois
My 18 month old had so much fun here as did I . I went with my mom and grandma and we all had fun. Will go again on our next trip to Wichita.
Rich Mai
Had a pass from another children's museum. I didn't have too pay. Kids had a great time.
Lima Ima
The Exploration Place is very fun and interactive for kids up to 11, not very entertaining/engaging for teens though. Dome Theatre is cool and Where Kids Rule is enjoyable. Staff are friendly and helpful. Overall, a good experience.
Nicholas Cruz
Great for kids of all ages even myself at 41
Kim Anderson
Staff were friendly and helpful. The kids had a blast- there’s something for all ages! Even us adults learned a few things. My only complaint is that I didn’t notice any disinfecting routines.
Christina
My family has come here a couple times now and we enjoy spending the whole day here. The airplane exhibit is our favorite and really interactive and so much fun for kids and adults. At first I wasn’t sure if my toddler would be too small to enjoy the exhibits but she had an absolute blast and was able to fully participate in most of the exhibits. Exploration Place is so much fun!
Jennifer R
This is a great place for fun learning. They really put time in to make it a great experiance for the whole family and price the experience for everyone to enjoy. The new nursing room is adorable and so thoughtful!
Rick Folten
this is a great educational place for the family. I of course enjoyed the outdoor area here in Witchita. I like the family centered programs and the room for kids to play outside. Try it out with your family. Very helpful friendly staff as well!
Tabitha Weber
One of my favorite places to bring the kids of all ages. I even enjoy it.
Stacey
Great place to learn new things and for family fun!!! Can't believe I had never been! Love this place
Whitechocolate Zaddy
Great place for kids and family for fun while learning. food is like theater price but need funds some how to keep open like anywhere so fair prices. Plus have free park and river walk area veterans memorial too.
Shawn West
My first time going and fortunately due to Sunflower Summer, getting in and seeing a movie was free. Was pretty busy and during the movie, my seat was getting kicked regularly but not any fault of the business. Would I go again? Definitely, if it's free. Maybe, if they have an interesting movie or exhibit.
Erik Myers
Done the "Princess Bride", ""Death by Chocolate" and a "80s theme party". Plus a few spring and fall concerts on their patio. Every single event as been one my better half and I remember with a smile. Check them out and have fun.
Heather Wellenstein
Love this place! Great for kids to have fun, exhaust themselves learning and not even realize it! Total win for parents! Careful in the parking lot though, tired cranky toddlers distract parent drivers and its easy to get into a fender bender.
Mark Eastman
A wonderful opportunity opportunity with a lot of hands on things to do!! Well worth the money!
Richard Albert
Wichita's largest petri dish still entertains and educates. Check it out. If you can deal with the swarms of mini snot demons, it's a good time.
Bret Harvey
Awesome..!!! That just about sums up the time my three kids and I had while visiting this great place of learning! We visited every other weekend this Summer, and my kids still exhibited the same wonder and excitement with every visit just like their first!
They have several traveling exhibits, so things change and keep the place fresh every month, and there are several permanent play areas where the kids have free reign (and with multiple cameras to watch the kids all from one sitting area). Very Cool, you won't regret at all!
Clara Sprowls
My almost 3 year old had a blast! Highly recommend!
Angela Hardy
We go here frequently- staff is helpful and friendly. Definitely worth the membership 💕 …
Melissa Penny
Love this place, something for everyone in my family. I like the little cafe area and that you can totally bring a meal and eat at their tables without feeling weird about it.
semper crescis
Always such a fun time and get to learn at the same time!
Wonderful place for the family :)
Melissa Arriaga
We had an amazing time. Kids will definently have a chance to run without worry and learn at the same time. Will go again in the future
Taylor Erb
We love Exploration Place! From tiny kiddos to adults - there is something for everyone to enjoy. Memberships are absolutely worth it!
Amber Kilgore
This place is a great place for kids however.... they do not enforce the mask mandate. One worker was playing a card game on the computer while adults and children wore their masks around their chins or wore no mask at all. Luckily it was not crowded so we did our best to avoid these people without masks. Be responsible and wear your masks people. And businesses need to enforce it or close.
Zack Abercrombie
Thank goodness this place exists. I come here on a weekly basis with my kid and it always rocks.
Delaney Jones
Fun place for kids and adults! Well worth the price and very interactive. I enjoy that they have a few staple exhibits that are always around as well as frequent traveling exhibits. It's geared toward a younger crowd but is still very educational and fun for adults!

Always a blast with the kids. They usually have really interesting and unique limited time only exhibits, everything from science to fun pop culture stuff. My absolute favorite was the spy exhibit. We did the yearly family pass because my son loved the permanent medieval kingdom exhibit so much. During the Summer heat we would escape there for a few hours pretty regularly. They also do the Maker Fair each year which showcase local makers which is amazing.
Darrin Hirsh
Such an amazing place! Kid paradise!!
Diamond Ortiz
Nice employees and great for kids, lots of knowlege and education
Tom Rorabaugh
Grandkids loved it; ages 5 & 9. Old grandpa had fun as well.
Melonie Marshall
This is a great place to enjoy exploring things with kids. So many things pick their interest and make learning fun! Make sure to include the theater because all of the movies are pretty amazing when they surround you. We enjoyed exploring airplanes and flight in the science that keeps them in the air as well as digging for fossils and learning about what's in the ground. They also had a section that had medieval stuff and a pretty cool catapult! they're just more things than I can even express and exhibits change so it's good to come back more than once! Don't miss out on the cool things in the gift shop too!
Soggy Bitch
I ran into a pipe organ in the castle when I was six and split my head open. But it's a great place for the whole family.
Shanna Marshall
No, really. It's cool...nice cold air-conditioning, so it makes a great activity for those scorching triple digit days. There is a big hall with exhibits that rotate out every 6 months or so; there is a superhero exhibit until January 2018. Then it will be replaced by a Rescue exhibit. After that I believe it will be sharks. There's a special area for kiddos 5 and under, which is nice. There's also a dome theater where you can see films about nature, etc. Some of the films cost extra, but they DO have some that are free to view at times, so be sure to ask at the admission desk! A lot of hands-on activities here, which helps keeps the kiddos occupied. There is a snack bar with stuff like hot dogs, popcorn, bottled water, candy. The gift shop carries some neat science/history themed items, among other things. It's usually worth a look! At the far end of the Exploration Place parking lot, there's a walkway to a big bridge. If you venture over the bridge, you can visit the Keeper of the Plains statue.

We have a family membership which is comparably very inexpensive and at first I wasn't sure how much we would use it, I mean, how many times would the kids actually enjoy going when most of the exhibits are permanent. They love this place! Even the permanent exhibits don't seem to get old for them. My kids are currently 11, 8, & 5 and we have been going for at least 4 years now. We all enjoy the traveling exhibits and especially the mini makers fair every July but the kids also enjoy the permanent exhibits and all the creative play options and for us adults it's a great option on rainy days when the kids need to get some energy out. Sometimes we bring friends and I can sit with my friend and watch the kids have fun while we talk. We have also enjoyed using the reciprocal membership in places like OK City, KC, Denver, and Indianapolis. Many of those museums have higher entrance fees than exploration place does but because we already had a membership here we got in free there and it made our vacation a little bit less expensive while giving us all great new experiences.
Kevin Morgan
Great place to take the kids and burn a few hours out of your day. Kids never seem to get bored with the activities available and there is a section that always changes every couple months. Those exhibits even keep me entertained. There is also movies to watch, a place to sit and have snacks, and a great program available for kids while school is out.
Angel
Great science place! Lots of different areas to explore and very interactive. There's a closed in space for toddlers, a castle to explore medieval times, water experiments, aviation section, and the traveling exhibits are always interesting. The live science shows have a little bit for everyone. Entertaining, educational, and funny! Highly recommended and very family-friendly.
Britta Dokes
2 hours is NOT enough time!!! Plan for at least half a day!! The dome is amazing!!!
Jenny Pittman
Very fun place to visit! Several of the exhibits needed some maintenance, but it was very fun overall.
Charles “mattjew” Schultz
Had a great time there with the family, there were a few things that need maintenance but above all my kids had a great time
N Darling
Update~ Still live this place! I live taking the kids and learning things with them or going on missions and such. They love it also and it is quality family time!💜❤️ love this place. There's fun for all ages! I like learning new things when we go. Plus, with membership, you can go to other science museums …
Kevin Andrews
An amazing place. So user friendly. Staff are available and happy to answer questions.
Morgan C
This is a great place for kids of all ages!! (Including kids 20+). Was so fun and has a ton to see and do. Expect to spend at least 3 hours to see everything! Pricing is very realistic and they honor other science museum memberships! You have to go in the tornado simulator. I mean it is Kansas! Loved it!
NAGARAJA P S
Must visit! Very informative for adults and kids, many take aways from here.
Liz
I always love this place. It's been years since I went and it was just as good as I remember.
jami schrag
I cannot say enough good about this museum. The size is perfect to get it all in in one trip. I'm a member and have appreciated the perks of that. Very reasonable yearly membership. I home school my high school daughter. The two hour science class once a month is so great. They not only have a mini auditorium for the students. But, two separate lab rooms. They divide by age. The staff who teaches these classes are extremely smart and friendly with everyone. Top notch staff here.
Adam Dixon
Always a wonderful place to take the kids. There really is so much to do. You can get lost in the medieval castle for quite a while. If you have a super little one. The 5 and under area is always a blast! As a professional in the aerospace field, the aircraft manufacturing exhibit is extremely well thought out and interesting.
Zete Jones
Bit expensive, but some events are fun. Ripley's believe it or not was fun and interesting. If they do any Halloween event this year, I hope they REALLY improve on it. Seemed like what they made most important, was the alcohol areas. Not really anything had fright to it. In a space like that, a haunted house type area would be great. Thought that's what the castle would be, but no jump scares, or very scary displays.
*Went 8-14-21 for the Paw Patrol exhibit. Kids loved it, but was so frustrated seeing so many kids being destructive and absolutely NO discipline whatsoever. Parents seem to be too into each other, or phones, and let their kids be total bullies and do whatever they wanted. When some got overly stupid with MY grandkids, couldn't find any employees anywhere to help. What happened to being a parent. Some of you there should DEFINITELY not have kids. Had to drop a star after that. No one watching was not wise. Surprised no one was hurt. I about was gonna go to jail if we didn't move from castle area.
Jeff S
So much for the kids to experience and tackle hands on, and some for the adults as well. The Sunflower Summer app made for free admission this Summer so an even bigger bonus. If you haven't been and have an entire day or just some free time highly recommend it.
Poe Castillo
My daughter and son had a blast. Tons of cool exhibits to view.
Jennie Kramp Andersen
We had so much fun visiting the museum today and look forward to a return trip. Our entire family had fun going through the castle, and the five and under room was perfect for our kids. Even on an extremely busy day there was more than enough to do and experience. Most everyone seemed to be having a great time.
b Hinesley
We love the place! I only took away a star because they don't have nearly as many exhibits as in the past, including no live fish in a huge area about fish despite having that capability, and they got rid of the putt putt, which is a huge negative for my older kids who come along with the younger ones sometimes.
Kim Reilly
The kids had a great time experiencing the different scenarios/exhibits...a great place to take family or a field trip!
Nicole Cribbs
It's a very fun place for kids to play and learn
Eric Sampson
Great place to bring the kids. Worth it to get the pass and take them frequently since they change out the exhibits every so often
taken1251993
Fun place to take toddlers.
Mist Passiert
Having kids is what makes the Exploration Place worth it. Occasionally they have more adult oriented displays come around, but more often they're kid friendly while being technical enough to account for the adults in attendance. If you have younger kids, they have some awesome play areas for kids of all ages. If you live close, a membership is definitely worth it.
Crystal Rangel
It can be a little pricey unless you have a membership. But their traveling exhibits are awesome and my kids are always entertained in the kids kingdom area.
Meredith Dwyer
My kids will happily play and explore here for hours! They are learning almost without realizing it! Not only are the permanent exhibits awesome, but the traveling exhibits and special events are fantastic! We love it so much we became members! Totally worth the money!!
Cait
I visited here with my 3 year old. I loved this place, it was just as much fun for me as it was for him. It's all about learning but in a fun way. They added the Kansas Kids Connect which is an area just for toddlers and babies. Everything is very hands on. We could spend all day in the Kids Connect. I just wish it was a larger space.
Nathan Taylor
I have two young kids that love this place. They have rotating exhibits that usually seem to be very well done. My daughters especially love playing and exploring in the large medieval styled castle and kids play area. Worth it in my opinion to get a membership.
Hayley Wilson
I have always loved Exploration Place. I remember having a birthday party here as a kid and now I go with children I nanny. They are constantly changing and updating things. Love the new flight room, it was definitely time for an update in there. The travel exhibits are always super interesting and make the season pass worth it. Great for year round fun!
Mayra
Always fun for the kids and adults.
Don Nevin
This place was easy to get to and GREAT to be partaking of their displays. We took Cameron and Caty and they loved it they worked puzzles, did experiments, flew flight simulators experienced many things not available elsewhere. Plan your day around it it's big. Staff was wonderful and the prices totally reasonable. The 6 & 7 year olds and the 70 year's old all loved it.
Daniel McCullough
Took my son here to play. There is so much to do here. He spent over an hour just playing in the kids connection. There are so many activities to do here that he loved doing. He especially liked the cockpit ride. Was a little disappointed that the tornado machine wasn't working, but that won't stop me from taking him there again.
Jaime Garza
Great place to take family.awesome learning experience for kids
Barry Longcor
Always a great experience with the grand kids!
Garion Holgate
A fun experience with interactive exhibits and engaging information stations. The exhibits change every so often and there are some exceptionally fun events at times. Also has a wonderful gift shop with many nifty little treasures. There's a theatre there as well. All in all a beautiful place to explore at your own pace or the pace of your kids if you're bringing them!
Angi Harlan
We were able to enjoy a free day thanks to science in the classroom! Had a wonderful day!
Ben McCouch
This place was incredible! We went there about 9 years ago and were fairly impressed. It has improved vastly since then. The design, build, fly aircraft exhibit is excellent. The 5 & under kids area was great. The castle section is fun for kids, but was also really cool to walk through as an adult. The model train setup of old Wichita is also very well done. Then there is always a revolving door of cool exhibits. This time was a "Rescue" exhibit.
Jeff Stangl
A chance for young and old to learn in a fun and comfortable local setting. The staff were nice and helpful, especially if you can't figure out that puzzle or activity. I believe I received a AAA discount, not sure of other offers. The parking is also near the Keeper of the Plains which is another good place to visit. There were so many exhibits and hands on displays, all of which were operational and in good order except one I noticed. Live demonstrations, videos, and activities. We were very happy with the price and the time spent there
Saima Kamal Siddiqui
The museum's quite nice, their section is full of wonderful surprises. However, the food choices available are shocking. Extremely unhealthy options! For a museum catered towards kids, there needs to be more focus on having a proper cafe/ kitchen to provide healthy meals and snacks for them.
Joe
Spent around 2 hours there. Plenty of stuff for the kid to see and learn about. Live science show was nice. Good amount of broken exhibits and some areas were pretty dirty. Regardless, a nice place to spend some time with the young ones.
Will Schmucker
We've been to this museum lots of times with our young family (ages 3-10), and they always enjoy it. The focus of the museum is hands on science learning. Our kids especially enjoy the water exhibit and the flight exhibit. Some of the exhibits could use maintenance, but overall there's lots to see and do here.
Fernando Froude
A fun place to learn and experience new cool things with the family!
Ashley Peel Smith
Lots of great family activities. I love that they have a rotating exhibit so there's something new every 6 months. There have been lots of new additions and updates in the last 2 years. My only complaint is that the castle/kids area needs to see some of those updates and repairs.
Donna spencer
Pure, 100%, hands on interaction. You don't even realize you are learning details & skills. You can't adequately experience everything in one day; there is so much to do. There are also several different age appropriate areas so if you have a wide range of children, there is a place that all age groups will be entertained (plus, in the areas that a parent wouldn't want to climb or walk up to, they have CCTV so you can still have your eyes on them). The Dome theater was an amazing experience as well.
The ticket price is a great deal.
I am recommending this place to everyone!
David Simms
The kids summer camp is cool
Jo C
I went with my family because it was chilly outside & we were looking for something fun to do. Our original plan was to go to the zoo but it was too cold. We had kids ranging in age from 11 mo - 12 years. EVERYONE had fun. I will warn against taking smaller children to the show dome. The 3 year old was done 5 min into the show & the 7 year old fell asleep. There is something to do for all age groups & overall we had fun. We also grabbed a snack while we were there & it was surprisingly affordable. Exploration Place is handicap accessible throughout allowing fun to be had by all. That being said, there's a Mideveil Castle for tots with lots of stairs that would be difficult to maneuver in a wheelchair. Although there are a lot of activities on the ground level in that area. A good time was had by all.
Nick
If u have a membership it's hella easy to get in. There is a lot of stuff do explore in there so it's a good place to go when ur bored
Dawn Long
Exploration Place is great place for kids. There are plenty of hands on activities for children. We enjoyed the Super hero exhibit. You can take pictures with Batman, Ironman, and the Hulk. The wind tunnel was fun.The Kansas exhibit was neat. I liked the buffalo display.Exploration Place is reasonably priced for families. Also, it is near the Keeper of the plains. I would recommend that you do both.
Jona Barree
I took my kids twice before. They love the exhibits and the Castle they can run around and play in. It's a good price and I will take my kids very often. They deserve the fun and I deserve to sit down for a few hours LOL. Great place for kids of all ages.
J Allen
This place is really fun for all ages of 3 and up in my opinion. The traveling exhibit was closed when we went there but we still had tons of fun. My kids (5 and 6) liked the king queen and knight area the best. They have a nice little snack bar there as well.
Paige Smith
Went for a field trip, boys had fun, gift shop was good and the Nan was nice, there was one women that worked in front that was nice behind the desk but when it came time to eat she wiped down only a 3rd of the tables and I asked her to clean the table we where at she agreed but started to walk off so I fallowed her to ask her again she said she could not find me but I seen her the whole time when she got to the table she did not spray just wiped a corner part and walked off I ended up cleaning it myself. But my boys had fun, and that is what I enjoyed. They loved the plans and tornado.
CanDideverything
Full staff. Friendly. Clean. Always changing exhibit
Haylee Connell
Our children had a great time playing and learning about several new activities! My eldest particularly liked the castle
Kayla Slaughter
The Paw Patrol exhibit was so fun, definitely check it out before it's gone! My son loved the dome movie as well.
KJ Park
The building was beautiful! We were really happy to catch the special weather exhibition, and miniature Kansas was a lot of fun for my teenagers. I was a little disappointed that the Dome Theatre is only open on weekends so I missed out on the Apollo film since we are from out of town. Otherwise, it was fun for everyone.
Destiny Jones
I've always loved this place since I was a child, now that I have my own child, we love it just as much if not more. Great place for kids exploration and a cool interactive museum
Rebecca C
My kids love going here
Judith
Amazing place, my daughters loved it❤
bryan tait
Such a wonderful low cost activity for a cold day. My cousin and I had a blast. We loved watching Great White Sharks on the dome screen! Mini Kansas was phenomenal. So many things to do and see! It made my visit to Wichita even more enjoyable than it already was.
Angela Diedrich
My son did a camp here. As he's gotten older (10), we only visit the museum once a year or so. Despite a chaotic first day drop off, my son had a great time. I found the staff to be friendly and accommodating, even when I had to pick my son up at non-standard times. My son really enjoyed the camp.
Mel Manning
Really cute place. Not excellent for babies under 2 but kids 2+ there is tons of things to do. They do a great job with hands on activities and the exhibits are all in working condition and are a large variety of types.
Sarai's Little Brother Ezra
It was Great! I took my niece yesterday and today, she loved it and loved everything there, except the areo section, but simply bc she is a girly girl and doesnt like "boy things", she's 2 btw, anyway great place to go especially in Wichita... anyway I definitely recommend, 4.5 stars!
Christ Opher
My girls, 4 and 6, absolutely LOVE coming to the Exploration Place. They always have a blast and as soon as we mention Sunday Funday, it is always one of the first options thrown out. The membership was super reasonable and we have used it a ton!
Thanks for all you do!
Ana Rojas
I love it here. It's a great place for kids of all ages, including adults and the membership is worth every penny.
Jessica Kivett
It is definitely fun for younger children. We took our 2.5y/o son there and I think we stayed for nearly 3 hours! There is plenty to do to spark their imagination and peak their curiosity. We will definitely return.
David Gould
Great for big and small kids. Fun for adults too. Lots of interesting and hands on stuff. Free parking, easy to find. Close to down town and the water walk. It's in the same parking lot as the "keeper of the plains" a 400 plus foot metal statue at the fork of the river. Also worth looking at and is free too. Excellent place to spend a day at.
Gina Kristie
This is a great place to take the family. It has various events and displays throughout the year. you can pay as you go, or buy a memebership. I have enjoyed everytime I have gone. Some of the events they bring in are exciting. The science fair type feel with a touch of planetary and advanced library feel. The kids really enjoy it too. It is educational as well as fun!
Margo Collins
OMG I didn't realize how much fun this place is! Kids of all ages can spend hours just looking at all of the exhibits. Most are interactive. They have shows. The store, the food, etc....I could go on and on. Plan to spend hours watching your children just having a spectaular time. The staff is so informative. I really enjoyed it. My grandson said it was one of his best days ever!
RaeLynn D
We recently visited to view the rock n roll exhibit. Kids had a wonderful time. Everything was clean and areas were periodically shut down while we were there for sanitizing. Much appreciated!
Luis Ulloa
There is so much educational material packed into one place. It's hands on giving kids so much more than they could learn in just a classroom. They also have have attractions that change so it isn't just the same visit every time you go. Their aerospace section has really inspired my kids to look into aircraft careers.
La Güera
My children had a amazing time but two of my children were scared in the Dome, of the height.
Stephanie
This place is very easy to get. I like how its handicapped acessible which also means it's stroller friendly. The place is not very big but it's more than enough for my toddlers to explore. Conveniently there was a kids corner suites just for them! They had a blast playing with the pretend kitchen, tractor and planting carrots and cucumbers. Would reccomend if you have a couple hours to spare.
Ming5906
Bring comfortable walking shoes, especially to keep up with the children. Lots to see, and worth while for all ages. We were aged three to 83, we were all entertained, and we took naps afterwards to recover. There is a dedicated food area, and the bathrooms are in the middle of the building so easy to get to from just about every exhibit.
Emily Crain
This is a wonderful children's museum! The exhibits are all hands-on and very high quality. My children couldn't get enough of the airplane exhibit! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The entire museum, including the bathrooms, was very clean. The dome theater was huge and the Kurds lived the show, although there are no booster seats so the seats are hard for little ones to keep down. It is a little pricey, but it is worth it!
Erika Litherland
Really cool! Will come back in the future for sure.
Sammy Espada
Took my girlfriend and her 2 kids here for the first time. Everyone enjoyed the variety of things to do throughout the visit. Airplanes, sharks, renaissance castle, and a mini kansas display were highlights for everyone. It was very enjoyable and worth going back to!
Virginia Fitts
I love Exploration Place! They always have new exhibits and are currently upgrading their kid zone which has a medieval castle for the kids to play in. My kids want to go all the time just to play in the castle, awesome place especially when it's too hot for the park
Joy Bickell
Love Exploration Place! We have the family pass. Great for too cold, too hot or rainy days...or when you have an hour or two between things and just don't want to go home to messy the house or spend money 😊 my husband also loves to bring the kids here when he's with them. My only complaint is that we have had to pay for a babysitter if she's bringing them by herself.
Melissa Brannam
I always enjoy coming here. Its one of my favorite acitivies in Wichita. Their dome theater is the best. Although I really think they need to run some space videos in their dome that would make it better and I would deffo come back. Regardless
Bailey
This place is great for kids. There are a lot of neat science exhibits.
Jeremy Neely
Dropped in for the gift shop for my kids before heading back home. Gift shop did not open until 12 and my flight departed at 12:30 that day. They graciously opened the gift shop for me so I could grab a couple small trinkets and souvenirs. Made my day and made my kids' day to get present from daddy's trip. They love that shark puppet! 😅 …
Kathy Haxton
We had an amazing time building gingerbread houses. We needed something to do while waiting for the ballet and found this just blocks from our hotel. Well organized and monitored. It was full of parents and children and until we stood up to leave had no idea how many had come in. Never felt crowded or rushed. Loved it. Wish we had more time to see the rest of the building.
Shauna Anderson
Excellent Musuem for all kids from toddler to teens. All the exhibits are well thought out and engaging. Our 2 and 5 year old spent 5 hours here and still did not want to go. A lot of it was over their heads but there was still plenty just for them
Jeff Dray
An awesome place to take kids and help them develop an interest in science.
Prairie Todd
I have 4 kids ranging 10-3 and they all love coming here. We've been coming since our first was a toddler. Their favorite is always the castle no matter what the exhibit is. They would stay there all day if I let them.
Bekki Kirby
They have updated their exhibits since our last visit (2016) and the flight room is AMAZING. My airplane-obsessed 8-yo loved it. We all had a good time. So many more hands-on things to do. The medieval castle area was fun, as ever, and the traveling exhibit was all about toys. They've even updated the Kansas section. I would have loved to linger and learn more about the formation of the giant aquifer, but my 8-yo wanted to go back to the planes.
Curtis Gordon
Always enjoy the exhibits and events. The staff and volunteers are always helpful and knowledgeable. Every time I go there is something new to discover.
My all time favorite exhibit is the miniature town. Great job Exploration Place.
Christy Exstrum
I have a 2.5yo, and we love going to Exploration Place! The enclosed play area for littles is a godsend on hot/cold/rainy days. The exhibits are interesting enough for him now, and he will certainly get a lot more from them as he gets older.
Cat Bow
Great place for the kids. TONS of hands on for hours of fu. The only problem I had with our visit was we had tickets to the 4 o'clock show. I was told by the guy that it was a 25-minute show. Imagine our surprise when the show started 25 minutes late. All the children in the dome were getting very antsy and frustrated. With starting at for the children would have still had 30 minutes to explore once the show was over. Instead we spent the 30 minutes waiting for a show that started late. It caused our day to be over
Marlayna Kuhn
By now, I think most of us know what the Exploration Place has to offer--highly interactive exhibits, some permanent, others limited; educational movies; science shows; etc. But a recent experience truly impressed me. This summer, I worked with students with Down Syndrome. The Exploration Place opened early for us so we could do some science experiments with our students before going to the museum when it opened at 10. The staff was more than kind and accommodating, and put our minds at ease. The experience was great!
mark miller
Real fun place to bring the kids for the day. So much to do and it's adorable. The dome movie of sea turtles was the best hosted by Russell Crowe.
Jonathan Smith
Maybe fun for older kids but, it was a waste of money to me. Older kids were just running wild and almost knocked or hit into my 2 year old many times. The place didn't have much to see or do. Mostly puppet show areas, slides and puzzles. They did have a dedicated spot with a slide and some blocks and stuff, for children 5 and under to play in but, kids kept coming in that were older than 5 so we had the same issue in there. My daughter did enjoy the slide but, I felt we could've had more fun at a park, for free. For $12.50 a ticket it just wasn't that great for us.
Anthony Reyes
For the price it's not bad. But I thought there would be more to do. With 2 kids (7&2) we finished in about an hour. Clean place and we can appreciate that.
Amanda H
Ample parking, along the river walk, clean restrooms, a snack bar and tons of exhibits to keep children busy and having fun. My 8 year old would've been happy staying all day, however the 14 yo was bored after a couple of hours . Exhibits included learning about weather, airplanes, fossils, animal and plant science, Kansas native animals and plants, geology, erosion, damming water, lots of puzzles with different types of challenges, an area for pretend play and lots more.
Stephanie Cloud Seery
I miss the Children's Museum. And the Science Center, in the old historical museum. Those may not have been as slick and impressive as Exploration Place, but they had more hands on activities and, they were much more reasonably priced. We brought a 4 yr old and an 8 yr old with ADHD. We were never going to get to the IMAX theater. We made it to the current promoted exhibit, just to find that like usual, about 30% of it didn't work. So much stuff thoughout Exploration Place was targeted at older kids, the four year old couldn't get to it or manipulate it without help. The 8 yr old got frustrated quickly or bored quickly at things that were hard, complex, or didn't work right. All in all, it was a good reminder why we don't come more often and why it will be awhile before we come back.
Who knows? Maybe we're doing it wrong. Maybe there's areas of the museum that the kids would love. I just know they really only enjoyed one spot, the spot just past the medieval times, where you could pretend to grow food, cook, etc. I don't know that it had a name. Interestingly, I mentioned to my husband that it was the area the most like the old Children's Museum. And that's the place the kids loved.
Jen Voss
Our family loves going to Exploration Place! Our kiddos are two and four and there is plenty for them to do! The "castle" area is huge and often has older kids playing in it. It's adult- sized, though, so I'm able to follow the kids around into the exhibit. It's got three levels to the castle area, so there is plenty of room to run and play. My kids like the Kansas Kids area the best. It's designed for children five and under, which keeps them from being run over by older kids. They have a market, hen house, air tunnels, climbing tree house area, even an infant circle. As a parent one of the things I love is that is enclosed with only one entrance. I can position myself there to ensure my kids can't escape and let them run and play. Other areas of Exploration Place will be gra when my kids get older and have more of an attention span. I like the airplane room and how it pertains to Wichita. The water exhibits, though small, are big hits with our kids. Finally, the miniature Kansas room is great, I especially love how is decorated for the holidays right now. A highly educational environment! Well worth the money of a membership if you live in Wichita! (Although a little pricey for a single day.)
Dan Pitchford
If you have a little one with excess energy this is a must! My family and I really enjoyed our time at the Exploration Place! If we lived near Wichita we'd probably buy a season pass. We found the exhibits engaging for our three year old and inforaive for us. I especially liked the aviation exhibit and my daughter really enjoyed the presentation on air pressure.
Carol Yauch
The dome theater was amazing but freezing. There were so many activities and exibits I'm not even sure we saw them all in the 3 hours we were there. It was fun for all ages! If we lived in the area, we would buy a membership!
Ben K
My kids LOVE Exploration Place, they're always begging to go, and I always have a blast taking them. They do have some upkeep issues, but that hasn't seemed to dampen my kid's love of the place. We've even gone just to play with the Kiva blocks, or the "water sculptures" for an hour. Sometimes we barely get past the awesome ball bearing motorized sculpture in the foyer. But here's the big reason we can do that without complaining about what's in disrepair or the price: we have a membership. It's $75 per year for a family. With a family of four, go ten times in the next year and that boils down to $1.88 per person each visit. Go just twice and you're already saving money. If you've got a family of 8, well then you're saving money right out of the gate. And if you know you're getting in and out for that kind of scratch, it makes it easy to just stop by for an hour just like you would if you were going to the park, and you won't feel like you have to make the day of it. It's like an indoor, year-round, all weather playground with some other cool stuff to look at too. Don't let the haters keep you away, make this place a regular part of your family outings. You'll be glad you did.

We had a great time and the kids loved it!

Fantastic children's museum. The kiddos loved it. The aviation room was one of a kind and so neat to be able to get up close with an airplane.

One of our favorite Wichita attractions. My boys and I spend hours playing and learning even after dozen of visits. The new aviation exhibit has to be one of the best in the world (I saw it's far better than a comparable exhibit at the National Air & Space Museum). Love the travelling exhibit area keeps things fresh. Exploration Place has a huge picnic area, a fantastic playground (three structures for different ages/abilities), walking paths, and hills kids love. Great selection in the Explore Store; I greatly appreciate that you don't have to walk through the gift shop when you exit.

If you love science you will love exploration place. Went with my daughter on a field trip and we had a blast. From their dome movie theater to the man made tornado and hurricane simulator it is an amazing place to spend an afternoon.

We visited with 3 adults and 3 kids on a Monday. School kids on field trips were everywhere. The dome shows and the new exhibits were closed. Some of the exhibits were out of order, and the cool stuff was crowded. There was one small snack bar and the prices were high. It was clean though, even the bathrooms. The place was a hit for the elementary crowd. Prices were average for what you get. They offered a military discount.

I've enjoyed the many fantastic exhibits at Exploration Place over the years. I took my daughter to just about everything as she was growing up. It's a wonderful place for children and parents to bond and a treasure in our community.

An awesome museum for kids. The hours of service are good, I personally think it could be open until 7pm during summer time.
The extra activities for the kids are always good and lower cost. So much to see and do!

So much for kids to see, do, and learn about.

The new arcade type feel in the Grand Hall is very fun.

Exploration place is a cool place to hang out. Toy topia exhibit was cool to see. My seven year old like some of the exhibit but alot of the toys struck my interest more than his. We had more fun with the airplain exhibit and really like the everything that is hands on.

Very cool and interesting place! I haven't been in a few years but in the past they always had something new every time I came! I feel like I always take away something different from this place. It's fun for all ages. Would definitely recommend and will be going back! Such a great and pretty location, too.

I had a great time here. They have fun brain games, movies, and castle. I had a blast in the castle surprisingly because of their distorted mirror. Could not so laughing at myself in the mirror. 100% would recommend going.

There are lots of neat exhibits here but for a Saturday afternoon it did not seem like there was nearly enough staff. Tons of rowdy kids running and screaming everywhere with no adult supervision. I was so irritated after the 12th time my toddler was nearly bowled over that we left. At least I was using a reciprocal membership from St Louis Science Center and didn't have to pay. We are at museums and zoos weekly and I've never seen this anywhere else.

A great place to visit with family, especially kids or with friends, or alone as well. This is located in a scenically surrounding place along river Arkansas. There is lush green lawns all around. A beautiful bridge that spans the river, statues of native Indians and a series of museums outside the main gate.

It's a fun place to play, it's a fun place to frequent. They have a good selection of traveling exhibits coming in and out in a reasonable time period. They have permanent exhibits which are also fun. My big problem is cleanliness. Other than the trash cans, the bathrooms (barely), and the hallway, the building is full of dust, especially along the baseboards, in the corners of rooms, and on exhibit pieces. At the end of the day when you watch the staff walk around before they close the doors, they put toys back on shelves. Nothing ever gets cleaned. You all need to implement a daily cleaning routine for all of the toys in your children's area (the Kansas connect Kids area, or whatever it's called behind the castle area). There are children constantly putting toys in their mouths (and not in those "trash cans" that are supposed to have those toys get cleaned), parents don't monitor those toys to ensure they get put into the cleaning area and so they get mixed in with all of the other toys, which are also not cleaned. There needs to be some kind of actual, cleaning/disinfecting routine that takes place at the end of every day so that the illnesses that are caught inside EP can be reduced. If you all have a cleaning routine, it is not being followed. It's ridiculous. When my membership expires this year, it won't be renewed. It's incredibly disappointing, because my child loves EP.

Granddaughters had a blast, spent over 5 hours here. Great visit.

Fun place to bring young kids for an afternoon of creative hands-on activities. If you're a Wichita-area resident, I highly recommend the family membership. If you have a family and plan to go more than twice a year, a membership is the way to go. Warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

We have gotten to where we really love EP21 nights at Exploration Place. Its one Thursday a month that they stay open late just for adults. We can run around like kids but with alcohol and food trucks. Absolutely love the rotating exhibits. It really has been a great place for Wichita to have. Their Secret Spy exhibit is so much fun. We literally spent 2 hrs in the exhibit and had no idea-it was just that much fun!

Great place for kids of all ages. Various permanent exhibits and shows plus travelling exhibits. Seasonal activities and camps. Main thing though cafe is more a snack bar don't count on it as main source of feeding hungry kids. Due to this recommend going after lunch and staying till the end. The dome has some great films on too
