Reviews of B-29 Doc Hangar, Education & Visitors Center
What a great museum dedicated to a single aircraft! Very knowledgeable volunteer staff of guides who work on the aircraft and operate it. The day I was here, I was fortunate enough to arrive on a day it was flying after winter maintenance. They left the hangar doors open and let everyone stay past the museum hours (9am-2pm Tues, Thurs, Sat) to watch the engine starts, and watch DOC taxi out and takeoff! Very cool!
Facility is awesome, the story of the work it took to make this museum a possibility is truly amazing!
Going into the cockpit of this plane was amazing. The guides were super knowledgeable about the plane and most of them had years of flying experience. Beware that there is no AC inside of the hangar so in the summer it can be sweltering. I would like to take a ride in the plane someday.
We had a great time at Warbirds Weekend! Very nice place, and the workers were super friendly. They have a great exhibit upstairs about the history of WW2. My favorite part was the Women's History, as Micky Axton is one of my heroes! There is a nice little giftshop in the entrance with all kinds of great souvenirs! Overall, my family really enjoyed going! It wad so neat to see the plane that my grandpa helped build! He was an electronics engineer at Boeing.
Fantastic exhibits about development of B-29 bombers, use during WWII and Doc's rescue from the desert & restoration. Loved getting to go in cockpit!! Good docents available for tours and to answer questions. Such a wonderful 2 hours spent there, worth a visit!!!
I had a blast getting to go inside the B-29. The volunteers were a wealth of knowledge and I can't wait to see Doc fly in the future.
Great place to visit, rich in so much history. We'll worth the time and money.
A unique venue for events. I'm a professional photographer and found the DOC B-29 and Hangar and great place to photograph an event.
Absolutely the best visit to encounter one of the last two B-29s that are still flying today. Incredible experience!!!
As a history nerd & a military aircraft nerd this place was truly awesome! The staff was truly friendly & very knowledgeable & getting to walk around inside the aircraft while the crew was performing maintenance was also awesome. The displays & informational videos on the second level were also very interesting & well done.
So much history here. We got to meet a 98 year old woman who was a riveter at 17 years of age. Getting to see the plane up close and go inside was thrilling. You could spend all day and never see everything.
Incredible 2 c up close. Very nice
Great restoration of this B-29. Wonderful staff of volunteers that take you through the museum, around the plane and up to the cockpit. A must visit for any plane or WW2 buff.
Wonderful museum, staff was very helpful and informative. Would recommend to anyone interested in aviation or WW2
Amazing place, if you can ever visit, I encourage it! Great piece of history! Also a well maintained aircraft.. that in itself is worth a look. :)
This is an excellent place to see a piece of American History. The volunteers are quite knowledgeable and I plan to visit again to see Doc in flight.
This place is so rich with our history! So many awesome, friendly and knowledgeable people on hand to guide and answer any questions. I highly recommend you see this. I would call ahead to make sure Doc is in hanger as he doe travel.
This beautiful Wichita landmark is on display and it's a lovely personal hanger. Lots of history to be told here by volunteers so be sure and take a few minutes and chat with them. If you buy the cockpit ticket you'll be able to go up into the dock and have them explain to you what all took place there in the cockpit. As you go upstairs and look down upon the airplane You will notice historical facts about ladies in the Air Force and the plane dock itself.
The best restoration job in the world. Doc is in immaculate condition. Museum has great displays, very kid friendly and educational, nostalgic. Great place to visit and family outing.
This is the perfect spot for an event. It's a very large open space even with the B-29 Doc airplane inside. We were able to go inside Doc which was such a cool experience! Highly recommend
Great museum and plane tour of one of only two B-29s still flying. Staff is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the restoration of the plane. Several of the staff worked on the restoration.
We went for an event Christmas party! It is amazing. We really enjoyed seeing history.
Great experience. The volunteer guides really know their stuff and are eager to share their information
Very cool to see on the way out of the airport
Seeing DOC was a amazing sight and our kids loved it. The stuff were awsome.
Take a tour with the technicians is awesome, they know a lot about this aircraft and its restoration process
Amazing!
If you are coming to the Air Capital, schedule one of your stops here. This museum is an incredible stop for WWII buffs and aviation enthusiasts. There are plenty of photos, timelines, and facts to keep the most cerebral engaged. Volunteers are a wealth of information here and have plenty of more information than the displays themselves. Don’t miss the opportunity to crawl into the cockpit! Check the schedule before you come, as Doc does go on tour.
It was great to see 1 of the last 2 airworthy B29 superfortress in existence!
This was a very worthwhile experience. Lots of history and a great tour guide who knew a lot because he did the filming of the videos on display. They are ever growing their display and going up into the bomber was very cool.
Loved the hangar and all the historical information throughout about the B-29 and Doc in particular. For those interested in history this is a fantastic experience!
Very informative tour and love to see restoration of history!!!
Awesome place. Awesome staff. Awesome plane.
Great visit to this mighty beast ¡
Great volunteers and just an all around great place to visit
Awesome, knowledgeable volunteers! Facilities immaculate.
What a great local treasure! A wonderful bit of Wichita history and a well preserved, working, B-29 bomber. Highly recommend a visit.
An amazing place, fantastic aircraft and my flight on Doc will be a cherished memory!
This place is wonderful, very informative and entertaining.
I was surprised at how few people were here. Maybe it is because it is new and word has not got out. This was definitely worth driving to the airport to see. Where else can you climb up into a B-29 that is 80 years old and see it firsthand?
I was there for the plane pull....cool place
Nice WW2 history exhibit.
THE place to visit to see part of Wichita's history. Doc was built and restored here in Wichita and will remain here as a living example of the work of the greatest generation. Come see us!
Fantastic place to see Doc up close. Beautiful building for Doc!! Everyone needs to go and visit. The staff was great and really enjoy talking about the plane.
We were taken back by the size Doc. Seeing Doc fly over our home did not seem as big it really is. We would really like to see Doc take flight.
We just do the office furniture there someday I hope my crew and I can someday save up enough to ride because it would alot to us. It is a beautiful piece of history.
Nice visual for event. Roomy
Great venue with tons of space
Fantastic experience to check out one of the two flying B-29. Be sure to verify it isn't out on tour before planning a trip.
Neatest place in Wichita. Well worth the time and money if you like aviation history.
Great place to visit, so we'll done!
It was a blast! We had a fantastic time, all the volunteers were great!
It was a lot of fun and the gentleman who gave is the tour was extremely knowledgeable and we learned a ton which was great!
That had a event where teams had to pull Doc 40 yards the fastest it was a awsome event. And doc is beautiful

Took the grand kids to see DOC great experience for them
It's very educational, 10.00 to get into the museum, add 5.00 to go inside of DOC the B29 superfortress
Great place. Go early as there is no AC.
Great experience! One of Wichita's hidden gems!

Great up close interaction of a flying B-29 bomber! You can get inside as well and walk right up to the aircraft. Very well worth the $10 admission fee. Will spend about an hour there.
