Reviews of The Noguchi Museum

Beautiful museum! Love the sculptures! The visitors were quiet so it was an enjoyable experience for all visitors to view the exhibit in a quiet space! The garden was beautiful and tranquil! I enjoyed sitting out there and listening to the birds and even saw a squirrel! The gift shop was a visual treat too! The shop was filled with really cool things to purchase! Had a wonderful visit here. Would definitely love to visit again!
Krishna Paul
Very beautiful museum with great Japanese inspiration! Really loved all the sculptures and origami. The whole place was tranquil and relaxing. There was a lot to explore and it wasn't too cluttered or confusing to navigate. Highly recommend stopping by for some culture!
Bess Fung (bessfriend)
great museum. love the displays of quality, lovely and fun sculptures. great outdoor space as well. beautiful garden. calming and peaceful with lovely chirping birds. the free admission on Saturday when I went was a nice surprise.
Mark Chang
The staff is very professional and friendly. This is a quiet museum that I had kept missing when I lived in the neighborhood. Should have visited sooner. With the Bloomberg Connect app, you can read the guide on your own device in your own pace. I can see the simplicity in the art influenced by Japanese culture. Also loved the garden. Suggest go in the late evening so that you can enjoy day/night view of them.
Susanna Mostaghim
Book tickets ahead of time and download the Bloomberg app they use. This place is a hidden gem. The art is spread out pretty well, there’s a good amount of seating throughout even if it’s a small museum. The art is unique and even if you’re like me and don’t understand it all it’s nice. I like it and will continue to swing by as the exhibitions change out.
Christine Chuang
Such a tranquil and beautiful place. You can still walk in and get tickets even if it’s sold out online. Amazing sculptures collection. The little Japanese garden is a gem.
Winnie Xu
Really beautiful and interesting art museum. Obviously hard to get to, but I say it was worth the trek!
We came on a Saturday afternoon. You can buy times entry tickets online, but we just walked in and bought tickets. There was a 3pm talk about their temporary exhibit and it was so informative. The guide talked for around an hour straight and it was entirely engaging and captivating. They explained each art piece and the reasoning behind why each piece was chosen to be a part of the exhibit and how they expand our social contexts on Japanese internment and the artists born of that painful historical event.

Wow wow wow!!! 💙 This was a terrific experience! I do really recommend anyone being in NYC to visit this small, lovely museum. It is such a nice place with great architecture and Japanese vibes. The exhibition is well done and you can even participate in it by creating your own labels or reflecting the sculptures by creating one from modurit. The outdoor space is great to chill and take a deep breath. I love also the original museum store. One of my favorite place in NYC. 💙
Olivia Del Vecchio
Lovely and serene museum. Would highly recommend joining the free tour at 2pm - our tour guide was friendly, informative, and championed hearing from the group. Recommend purchasing a ticket online beforehand as well.
Blake Wolf
Been a few times to this awesome museum with a lovely outdoor garden area with seating. Really great spot for a date or an artful, peaceful experience. I would be sure to visit the cute museum shop, too.
Ethan Zhou
Beautiful, VERY aesthetically well organized museum. Honestly a must-visit for anyone interested in art, sculpture, or design.
One note -- the gift shop isn't great for souvenirs, its more of a specialty arts and crafts shop
Erik Johnson
A gem. Book tickets ahead of time. Don’t miss the gift shop. The permanent collection mostly on the ground floor and a rotating exhibit space on part of the second level. The contemplative garden is especially lovely in the warmer months.
emily
Great curation of art works (sculptures, photography, installation).
Strongly recommend getting tickets online. If not, get there before the museum opens.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff members.
Will be back :-)

A small but hidden gem of a museum. (Honestly, I prefer small museums anyway, as I sometimes feel overwhelmed by gigantic collections.) This is feels like an intimate tribute to an incredible sculptor. There’s something deeply calming and profound about Noguchi’s work. The shapes and moods he creates with wood and stone are impressive. Tickets are also very affordable- only $12 for adults! In an hour you can see everything and even have time for a coffee. Peruse beautiful and creative (if pricey) gift shop treasures for sale while your latte foam is being steamed.
Lauren Rocha
This is such a beautiful space with open space and an impressive focus on lighting . Feels like a retreat from the busy city. The collection is impressive. The person at the door was so kind in telling us to make another visit in the spring when their cherry blossoms bloom in the garden. Lovely to feel the pride of the folks that work there.
Tobias B
One of the unique museums in New York, focusing solely on sculpture art. Took us about 1 hour to see everything and relax in the garden.
The museum has two bathrooms.
You are not allowed to eat in the garden.
Avedon Arcade
New York is not short on incredible museums to visit. There’s practically one for every interest one might have. And while the Met and the Gugg might satiate your need for historical architecture and classic collections, or MOMA and Whitney with their contemporary ones, no other museum really has the kind of serenity and ambience that the Noguchi offers.
One does not need to be a fan of sculpture to truly appreciate his art. Taken as a whole, the museum provides plenty to look at and interact with in a matter of speaking. The space itself acts as another presence among the art.
And on this particular day with the rains coming down, the art transformed into something new. Which is part of its charm being in a partially open air building. Seeing the sculptures glisten as they became slick with moisture made them seem almost alive.
It’s fascinating to see the amount of work Noguchi created and the variety of it. From granite blocks, basalt mounds or Italian marble, all were subject to his transformations in unique and interesting ways. Useless Architecture as he called it or barely functional furniture, much of what is on display, is a reminder to the audience of the desire to be outdoors. It really does give you a sense of being outside among nature even when you’re inside a studio.
It’s not a large museum, but one you can truly get lost in for a while. Multiple rooms and a second floor create multiple paths to explore. And there’s even a smaller corner gallery area that includes works of art by others, curated by the organization.
I don’t normally rant about a museum gift shop, but the one at the Noguchi features some more relevant and tasteful souvenirs at good prices. Unfortunately none of his lamps were available for purchase at the time of visit due to supply chain issues. But here’s hoping in the near future that will change.
It’s recommended to purchase tickets in advance but you can also visit on First Fridays for free entry as I did.
Overall, if you’re looking for a museum jaunt but prefer to stay away from the crowds or just prefer to leave Manhattan altogether, I highly recommend heading over to Queens for this one.

Visited with my boyfriend on a cloudy, slightly drizzly day. Upon entering, we were requested to wear face masks but did not carry any with us. Luckily, the staff were able to provide us with a couple.
The artwork is curated pretty well. I found a few pieces to be most intriguing and great for analyzing in greater detail. Things that stood out to me were the use of lighting over each piece, the colors and textures achieved, as well as the positioning of each work in their respective areas. We enjoyed walking through the building, eventually winding up at the outdoor space where the beautiful greenery meets some of the artwork.
Installations are changed periodically. It is best to check online or call for further details if you wanted to plan a visit for a specific one.
Melissa Ko
Super pretty sculptures. But also kind of smaller than expected. You have to go outside to get to the second floor and also to the other sections. So dont go if its cold and/or raining! The outside part is part of the experience.
Go during the free days for sure. Good for if u want a quick date lol. But also theres not much to do around that area except go to Costco... and this sculpture park near that but that took me like 10 min to walk through.
Also! Not many places to sit down too. Except the benches outside and the small stool(s) upstairs that Im pretty sure is more for staff not visitors. So definitely dont go if u get tired easily and its cold out.
Side note: I still had to wear face masks. They have extra at the front but they call you out if they see u without one at anytime.
Ant Wirjo
Well curated sculpture museum, with a clear flow and friendly staff. Tickets are $12, recommend buying in advance since they have assigned time slots
Richard Errington
A lovely meditative experience full of stunning sculpture in an environment that lets you appreciate it. The majority of the pieces don't come with plaques which leave you open to interpret their meaning and place within the space.
The museum, for one that has a small footprint, is surprisingly large inside. It took about an hour to go through the exhbits and it is well worth the trip.
Ticha Ungboriboonpisal
Got a free tix from Culture Pass. Worth every minute I spent here. So fascinating how Noguchi can create sculptures from marvelous rocks.
Genesis Vallecillo
Beautifully curated museum, gorgeous garden, lovely Noguchi novelty pieces. Every year I’m excited to see what new installations have been added to the space.
H Kim
If you get a chance visit this museum. It is a worth venturing out to queens. Massive collection consisting of two floors. The garden is a nice place relax and enjoy noguchi’s work. I would recommend doing Noguchi and ps 1 moma together since they are near by!
fi ni
it is a cool (one of a kind) museum with sculpture made of stone , steel, wood , glass …
there are a few well known piece.
i found something interesing like "humpty dumpty" made of steel.
another one is the "big" id - remind me the "Dr seuss hat".
the famous triangular glass table.
Helen Zhao
$12 adult tickets, terrific museum. Clean, simple displays, and an outdoor seating section.
Rommy Ghaly
Among my favorite museums in the city, it is a testament to space and light and beautiful art; a zen garden and a respite from the chaos of the surroundings. I come to the Noguchi regularly to revel in Isamu’s pieces, the space he created, and the peacefulness it exudes. His sculptures continue to amaze as one of America’s greatest artists.
William Eastmond
If you like art and minimalism this is the ideal place. When you enter you feel an energy of tranquility that invites you to think, reflect and walk. the museum shop offers books, lamps and decorative objects. All the museum staff are very friendly.
In Praise of Caves: Organic Architecture Projects from Mexico by Carlos Lazo, Mathias Goeritz, Juan O’Gorman, and Javier Senosiain. The sculptures of Mathias Goeritz was amazing.
L Dubno
A true gem in Long Island City. It is unique, tranquil, exciting and bold. It has spacious indoor exhibitions as well as outdoor features. This is where I take friends and visitors and they are always impressed. I enjoy just stopping by for a quiet moment of relaxation in the sculpture garden among the bamboo.
Come to Long Island City and visit the Noguchi - you will love it!
Nils Paellmann
One of the best small museums in all of NYC. A perfect minimalist space for the ageless classic Isamu Noguchi (1904-1988) sculptures. Fascinating current exhibition "In Praise of Caves", nicely interwoven with the regular Noguchi exhibit. The free brochure for this exhibition available at the museum is excellent and very informative. Nice museum store too.
Tuan Pham
Noguchi did it again. Both the collection and the space were amazing. I found it very helpful that I’ve learned a bit about the man before visiting.
Belén Jaramillo
One of my favorite museums in NYC! If you like composition, architecture, interior design, landscape or abstract art, surely you are going to love it.
Christopher L
I had an excellent time visiting this museum. The admission was only $10 and you can spend about 45 minutes here easily. They have air conditioning and a nice outdoor garden. Masks are required at all times.
Philippe Reme
If you are into modern arts. Then you are going to like this place. That's all I can tell you. Besides that it was a very fun.
Mauricio Ramirez
Amazing museum of Isamo Noguchi's work. This is his old studio. Difficult to get there, far from the subway (we used Uber to and from the station), but well worth it! Amazing sculptures in a great setting, with a garden display as well as an large indoors display.
Suemy Kay
Loved the unique experience of the dichotomous indoor/outdoor museum! Its surprisingly a large space with each floor focusing on diff eras of his artz
Javier Kohen
Great autumn colors. It's interesting how they juxtaposed the indoors and outdoors. One of my favorite spaces was the gift shop, especially the lamp collection.
Ninja von Oertzen
Beautiful place to see Noguchi’s live’s work in a quiet setting and enjoy his lush, hidden courtyard.
beat shona
Excellent museum dedicated to Noguchi, with a great collection of his large stone pieces.
Jesse Tao
Great sculpture museum with a lot of interesting pieces. Outdoor space for sitting and relaxing
Christine Kurjan
Having visited Noguchi's museum on Naoshima in Japan's Seto Sea, I gravitated to this one immediately when I saw it was not far away in Queens.
Stunning and varied collection, from basalt to bells, including photos, lamps and video installation. Enjoyed nearly 2 hours here. (Even spending 1 hour would still be good.)
Very walkable from the ferry landing. Afterwards...a little walk to snack on arepas.
ELON SATATKOMBOR
Every time you visit New York, it's worth going to this great museum!!!
Rita Silbernagel
Book tickets in advance online on their website. Usually need to book a few days in advance. They are doing time ticket entry. Lovely museum with both inside and outside spaces. You'll never think about the ikea paper lights the same way again lol! Great vibe and wonderful displays. Don't miss the 2nd floor. Take about 1 hr total time to visit.
z z
Very interesting place...far from subway station..20 min walk..
Anze Hao
Went during the summer and everything was super peaceful and aesthetic
DANIELLE
Very lovely and unique space. Website offers a really great and interesting biography. Museum itself points out names and materials of artwork, which is nice.
MD Abir Choudhury
One of my favorite museams in NYC. Totally didn't expect the tranquil nature and beauty of the entire building. The sculptures create a sense of belonging.
Totally recommend a visit. It's worth the $10 admission 🎫
Lee R
Great museum with sculptures of the Japanese-American artist Noguchi and a wonderful Japanese garden - also adorned with his works.
It might not be everyone's taste, but if you like this kind of sobriety, it is definitely worth the detour.
Pedro de Alcantara
A marvelous concentration of gorgeous art. If you love Japanese culture, abstract-leaning sculptures like those of Brancusi, modern dance and opera settings, stone, wood, metal, and the mysteries of nature and our place in it, you'll love this museum. Noguchi's inspiration and craft are mind-opening and life-affirming.
Krystle Ortiz de villate
The first time I came to this museum, I was in high school, and I loved sketching the shapes of the many sculptures on display. Today, more than 10 years later, the museum is still a place I'd love to spend hours in sketching. Protocols are different though. In order to enter the museum you have to make a reservation online. The museum takes COVID-19 very seriously and tells you before entering to stay 6 feet apart and to not touch anything or sit on anything besides the wooden benches in the garden. Before COVID-19 many pieces were interactive. A lot of the smaller rooms had a sign permitting only 1 person. I appreciated the adherence to cdc guidelines. The gift shop was in the basement and filled with very expensive items. They did have the weirdest music playing in there. It was bad. But overall the Noguchi Museum is a great place to find some calm artwork. I also recommend walking to Socrates Sculpture Park after for more art. It's a block north, part the Costco.
Wyatt Gorman
Great museum with beautiful sculpture, and a very interesting open air architecture for parts of it. Has a great set of guides available by the Bloomberg Connects app, and can be seen quickly (under an hour) by walking through at your own pace, or you could spend an hour or more here reading through the interesting information for each sculpture and watching videos. Definitely worth visiting for any sculpture lover!
Angela Wen
Lovely place to spend a few hours. Great gift shop to view all the lamps and find some lesser seen gift items from Asian artists.
Kitty Yu
Such a nice museum, a hidden gem at Astoria. It is not very big, but it is very spacious with a nice setting of the sculptures with some natural light. There's also an outdoor sculpture area. I specifically like the section on body-space devices. There are information sheet in each exhibit room with a brief introduction and detailed description of a few sculptures.
Linda Brown
Had a wonderful time here ! The sculptures are amazing ! It is such a lovely art museum . We were helped by friendly staff members , Divine, Traisoria & Orlando . They are keepers !
J Finley Wark (JW)
Great laid-back atmosphere. This is the best museum in Queens hands down. Very peaceful and tranquil. Highly recommend!
Wendy T
Came here because had nothing much to do and was nearby the area. It took us around 1 hour to walk around - it not a big museum but not as small as I thought it was either. There were many parts to it and had interesting sculptures. The best part was really the lanterns and lights section where you can take pictures that are Instagram worthy. If you have student id, tickets are only $5 each so pretty worth a visit!
Nitzan Harel
I never heard of it before, the location is a bit off the beaten path. It is small but one of the most unique if you like Sculpturing and the Japanese way of aesthetics. There is a small Japanese garden, and small shop with unique and beautiful thing and also a coffee/tea. There is an outdoor sculptures garden (not connected to the museum) just around the block and some nice coffee places.
Kristin Mikie Sword
One of my favorite small museums in the city. Thoughtful, relaxing, and made to be enjoyed in a couple loops (in my opinion). The entire museums is made to be experienced in a thoughtful and peaceful manner, very much reflecting the energy of the art.
Bernadette
I LOVE THIS MUSEUM!!! Highly recommend a visit. The first Friday of the month is free. I came knowing nothing about the sculptor, but I was mesmerized by his work and the tranquil, calm atmosphere. It's really a lovely way to spend an afternoon. I spent several hours there and wish I could have spent more. There is an outdoor garden and a very pretty little cafe. It's extremely beautiful. Love it!
Joe Sidonio
Hidden in a little known part of the city, the Noguchi Museum is an oasis of calm and beauty. The museum costs $10 to enter and is filled with an excellent range of the artist's work.
There's also a garden where you can sit and relax and admire some of the large pieces there.
it's a truly understated museum and yet one which does not fail to please and intrigue. Noguchi's work spans some 60 years and at the museum, you get a good feel for his art. Definitely recommended if you are a fan of modernist sculpture.
Yesmine Boukhili
It's one of the best museums I've had the opportunity to experiment. This place is pure heaven for anyone who loves sculpture and great design. The garden is an oasis of serenity. I really enjoyed the exhibitions such as ''Sun at Noon'', ''Akari: Sculpture by Other Means''.
The Noguchi Museum is wheelchair accessible and there is a Citi Bike Station for those who feel like biking there. If you're a student, don't forget to bring your ID ($5 instead of $10). During the first Friday of every month year-round, the admission is free. Fun fact: The Noguchi Museum is located in front of a Costco.
Oliver Gamboa
A hidden museum isolated from the outside world. Going inside led to a total different atmosphere of zen and tranquility. I enjoyed walking though the rock garden and seeing the unique sculptures. The museum also offers free tours explaining the history of the artist and the artworks.
Ahad Subzwari
Really cool museum that really shows you how much influence Noguchi has had. The space is really nice and the sculpture garden is very relaxing. Nice gift shop as well.
Inbal Shree
Tremendously enjoyed the Noguchi museum. The space, both inside and out, curation and staff all works together to provide a powerful experience of Noguchi’s vision. There are many rooms throughout the main floor, a changing exhibition upstairs and a lush sculpture garden.
Jack Graziano
Truly a beautiful museum that celebrates the life of a wonderful Japanese-American artist, Isamu Noguchi. The beautiful sculptures as well as the small garden makes this little museum feel tranquil in the bustling area around it. The live music was incredible as well!
indah nuria Savitri
Very interesting indeed!
I always enjoy Japanese art work and this museum offers some interesting collections.
We first came to this museum because my son's art project was displayed here since the school was working together with the museum for the art class.
Then we enjoyed the visit to the museum.
The collections showcased are unique! Incredible details with various mediums and stories really fascinate me. We really enjoy the Japanese way of contemporary arts and even many of them are directly touched to the American way.
We saw NASA related items, barbie, Hermes bag and more, made of various materials.
Don't miss it if you're around.
ana magalhaes
The building itself and the way the artworks are exhibited are beautiful. Very relaxing sculpture garden.
Michael Mallette
My favorite little museum in NYC. It’s small enough to see and thoroughly in under 2 hours. There are never any lines and it’s just a peaceful, meditative experience.
Cyril Moore
Cool museum of mostly sculptures. It takes about an hour and a half to get through. You can do it in less then an hour if you are rushing. There is a small cafe and an outside area to sit and relax. Cost was $10 for adults and $5 for children.
Kate Taylor
A little Astoria gem. I am honestly a little ashamed I've lived in Astoria 10 years and only JUST went to this museum this year. It is such a beautifully designed space, you are immediately transported when you enter and a feeling of calm washes over you. The sculptures are thoughtfully displayed in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings, and there are handy informational cards for each room so you don't have to squint at panels on a wall. The museum is just the right size- plenty to see but not overwhelming. You can take your time with each piece and not feel rushed. Highly recommend for anyone, sculpture lovers especially.
Jessica Wolff
We took a class here and got top enter before the museum opened for visiting hours. What a visually stimulating place just to think. Gorgeous garden and extremely clean. Everything was top notch. Small, well curated and a definite great place for kids. Add this to your Astoria itinerary.
Jamie Lai
$10 entrance fee. There's a small cafe but the best part is the garden where you can relax amongst Artist Noguchi's sculptures. Lovely!!
Alex Krok
Great sculpture museum in city. It's hidden gem near Manhattan easily accessible by ferry. Great collection include outdoor court, inside rooms with Noguchi work from various periods. Highly recommended.
Elise Melican
Amazing. Such a beautiful space and great to see all the sculptures together and to see how Noguchi's style evolved
Joe Wehry
It's embarrassing that I lived in Astoria for years before visiting this hidden gem of a museum with outdoor sculptures in metal and stone, plus two floors of indoor art, including Noguchi's famous "mobile" works inspired by the transient nature of life during Japanese-American interment camps.
Alberto Al azar
A remarkable hidden gem museum in Astoria. The museum has an extensive collection of Noguchi Art plus a beautiful garden that changes during the different seasons
Yoram C
Very beautiful museum about the artist. Abstract profound art in the line of Chillida I would say. Absolute mastery of sculpture making
Láralyn Mowers
Isamu Noguchi uses texture and light to metaphorically describe the glacial passage of time across the natural world.
It's easy—especially for fast paced New Yorkers—to underestimate the beauty of this kind of art. But if you can slow down your own internal cadence (i.e., resist the frenetic NYC rhythm for a bit), you can find in the sculptures the same sort of appreciation—for how epic and unknowable the world around us is—as when you're standing in an ancient redwood forest.
You have to stop, look closely, try to understand what you're looking at. With many of the sculptures, you can see the unaltered natural surface of the basalt or granite (usually—sometimes it's another material); you can also often see marks from where [and how] the stone workers extracted the piece from it's environment; then there's where Noguchi added his own touches—shaping the stone, adding grooves or textured patterns to some surfaces, cutting pieces apart and perhaps putting them back together with only a seam to indicate the changed state; and finally there are the places where he polishes the stone to a high marble-like gloss—perfectly contrasting the raw surfaces that often still exist on the same piece.
The sculpture garden is an amazing oasis in the desert of NYC.
go potyr
A blend of the east and the west, if you read his life story ahead of your visit, this place will become even more interesting.
Trooper Long
Peaceful, quiet place to reflect and admire art. Lovely outdoor stone sculpture garden that continues indoors, and upstairs including stone, woods, and other media. Tours, gift shop featuring books, refreshments, and special visiting exhibits. It’s in Queens, and a bit off the beaten path but well worth the trip.
Deborah Kuchar
I didn’t expect this place to be as big as it is. I could spend hours here. Hours and hours. There’s a lot to see, there’s a lot to learn, and then there’s just being in the space. Along with all the massive sculpture, I was charmed by the squeaky wood floors.
Colin Williams
Excellent museum, especially with a guided tour. The staff is friendly and happy to answer questions about Noguchi. We found out that this is the first museum in America established by a living artist. The attention to space and light of the exhibitions brings the work to life. The blending between indoor and outdoor space complements Noguchi’s work especially the carved stone and delicate paper lanterns. I really appreciated that they have an exhibition where a design studio interpreted Noguchi’s work to create lights that are similar, but using fabric suspended in resin. Overall an amazing experience!
Karn Seth
Amazing museum, especially the outdoor areas
William Wainwright
This was a great little museum that had pieces by Noguchi and other artists. There were also places to sit in the garden and just chill
B Z
It's ok. The garden is beautiful and a number of the art pieces are impressive, but it's generally vague and confusing. Probably one of the least accessible museums of any kind I've ever been to. Probably worth reading a book on Noguchi before you visit.
Elizabeth Conley
Unique and peaceful way to experience art. The free tour we attended was fantastic !
Euwan Kim
Very interesting sculpture collection. The museum itself is built in a warehouse and has an outdoor garden too. They have kid-friendly pamphlets, thorough descriptions/labels of each sculpture, and the staff is very polite and willing to answer any questions.
ashley s
interesting museum if you want to go to a museum for not too much money. its short and something to different to look at. it took a hour to finish, but the gift shop was the highlight.
Marco B
Beautiful sculpture museum. Broadway Astoria is a 15 or 20 minute maximum walk from the museum. Have a look at the Socrates sculpture park just around the corner.
Katrina Valuyeva
They change exhibitions frequently so there’s something new to see each time. Suggest to go multiple times to experience how this place is transformed in response to the changing seasons.
Milena Alexandrova
Loved it! There is a lovely garden, a nice permanent exhibition of Noguchi's works, and I also had the chance to see a cool temporary exhibition.
Katie Macdonald
One of my favorite museums in the city. It’s such a thoughtful curation of Noguchi’s work in his old studio. It’s also so close to the sculpture garden, so make a date (either with a love interest or yourself) out of it.
Akshay Kirtikar
Beautiful beautiful serene museum with plenty to see across a variety of material.
Jean Newton Unser
Gravitas and serenity expressed through sculpture and architecture. The garden feels so peaceful. The trees will potentially be blooming at the end of March, try to visit.
Dominic L
Breathtaking open air and covered museum. Really makes you stop and think. Book with student ID for lower cost and hope they dont check :)
Dennis Grishin
Very cool art museum!!
Kiera
A beautiful museum that caters to people who love Japanese art. Noguchi’s work play off natural forms with a simple, tasteful way. The exhibits are breathtaking.
Sreeradhi Kumar
A quaint place with some interesting sculptures.
SDW
One of my favorite museums; a winter morning with sun is the perfect time to see the garden.
Richard Lim
I am glad I visited this place. It is a very arty and at an off beaten path location. It takes about one hour to take in everything. This is a place worth checking out but not on the same tier as MOMA. It's one of those I have already checked everything else, so lets check this place out kind of a deal. Worthwhile nonetheless.
Richard Brett Kelly
Possibly my favorite NYC museum. Usually on the quiet side. Go in nicer weather to experience the garden. And try for the daily 2 p.m. free guided tour for some different takes on what you are seeing. Don't be a baby; it's not hard to get there. Quick subway ride from midtown followed by a 15 minute walk—and you can hit the Costco liquor store next door on the way home! Bonus!
Michael Roth
Every time I visit, there are different exhibits. I guess I'm trying to say that it isn't all Noguchi all the time. It's a little neighborhood gem. You should visit.
Yanisa Kham
Great indoor + outdoor museum to come to with friends. There is a lot of different sculptures, mostly of rock and metals. We spent about 2-3 hours here and got through all the sections. There’s a really cute garden/outdoor area with beautiful trees and rock sculptures. Definitely one of the best, under-the-radar museums in the city
Gaby Zaldivar
This is probably the smallest museum I’ve been to. The installations are nice but I wouldn’t bother unless you’re a local or a short drive away. The nearest subway is about 30 minutes away on foot. The garden is a chill place to sit and read.
Leonardo Torres
Admission is free on the 1st Friday of the month. I wished there were more offerings at the exhibit and gift shop.
Sarara Maeda
Tranquil Oasis in the middle of long island. Beautiful courtyard inside and wonderful lighting in the exhibition space indoors and outdoors. The store had some well designed objects d'art.
George Zikos
Unexpectedly large collection. Serene garden. A wanderfull experience
Steve Cheung
Really liked the lower level of the museum, particularly the basalt statues. Didn't know much about Noguchi except for his work for Herman Miller until I visited, he's so much more than that.
Uri Vaknin
Fantastic experience seeing the full breadth of Noguchi’s oeuvre. A truly special place.
Celestine Washington
The museum is very interesting, an open space with beautiful scenery and a positive vibe. The staff here are very pleasant and helpful.
Geoffroy Païs
Very nice museum!
You can visite with your stroller!
The ambiance is very relaxing!
Rookka K
Best museum in the world enough said!!!
PS I love it so much I actually lived near by for 3yrs when I graduated from college.
George Ke
A great place to spend an hour or two. The organization of the numbered rooms was a bit confusing, but not a big deal. Also near Costco so convenient for groceries after
Yoo ooY
Feel good just see them placed
Marcela Cardillo
Great museum to visit with a slow pace to enjoy amazing sculptures by artist Isamo Noguchi
Luis Bello
Hidden gem in Queens. Well worth the trip if you're in another burrow and the $10 ticket. Try to come in a sunny day to be able to enjoy the outside area.
Sera Hill
Beautifully curated place with a fantastic garden. I was sad they’ve closed their cafe since covid.
Justin Raymond
So many stunning sculptural pieces here. A great variety of spaces to keep museum fatigue down, but there's a lot to see. Really appreciated the little artwork station as well. Hop on over to Socrates Sculpture Park a short walk away to make this a nice date day.
Mr. Squeakers
Very cool. The staff are very friendly and nice even when ur having a seizure (which I in fact had several when I visited, not because of the place or anything, just conveniently, and the staff was so helpful) also the stuff is pretty and I liked the tour person
jam
Great museum, very enjoyable to walk around. The courtyard is a great place to rest.
Luis Gomez
Very clean and minimalistic, the garden is really nice, we cannot see the second floor
Lisa Kim
Great garden museum. I would come back again and again!! It’s only $10!
Renan Leonel
Nice museum in LIC! An amazing experience and a pretty interesting history about Mr. Noguchi
Hoa Duong
Useless architecture said the artist himself. Very unique philosophy behind the artwork, probably too deep it couldn't penetrate my skull. Some pieces were skillfully made, some look like the artist attempted to do something but gave up midway. Others were as if they just got dug up from the earth. I honestly prefer to see a showroom of his stylized furniture instead.
I recommend reading about Noguchi beforehand otherwise you can only see his rock as a rock. Yes there is an Bloomberg app but it wasn't really helpful. And book ahead. This place is popular. Although Noguchi's artistry is way above my head, it is very impressive to know of an unconventional view of the relationship between nature and human, and how it is expressed with chisel and hammer on one of the oldest materials on earth.
The museum is located conveniently opposite a Costco with a liquor store and a river park.
Rhobags
Great place to see Noguchi's fabulous sculptures. Really well curated
Joe Ferrari
A beautiful place to spend an afternoon - the first Friday of every month is Free! What an incredible artist.
Sophia Velta
A gem everyone in new york should experience, step into tranquility!
Daniel Jacobino
A very special place dedicated to the great Noguchi. Easy to get there and hard to leave: you can plan a 2 hours visit to appreciate the most of it all.
Sergio Sampaio Rosa
Such a nice museum with a very friendly staff. The gift shop has a lot of nice stuff.
Brad Beggs
Worth visiting. Only $10/adult, $5/student or kid. Free street parking is readily available, including at Costco across the street.
Free tours offered every two hours and worth it to get inside story of this cool place and genius designer. Plan to spend 1.5 to 2 hours.
Olivia Ramos
What a beautiful and calm space... the sculptures speak to you and the garden, filled with foliage and the sound of water from the fountain... takes you to another place. There is also a really nice park where you can walk and enjoy the Manhattan skyline across from the East River. Highly recommend!
Max Bertfield
One of the most incredible musuems in all of New York City. Take your time and look at everything, it can be life changing.
Zara Choudhary
I felt very Zen here. Good place to bring book, read and hide away from the world.
叶竽樵(George ye)
A place where the abstraction is best performed.
Dorothy Kellogg
My favorite museum with its rich history and amazing variety.
Sam Tharp
Very relaxing sculpture museum. Beautiful facility and grounds. Definitely worth an hour or two of your time.
Harry Richman
nice trees in the garden
Majdi Alkarute
Vast collection of work by Noguchi. Admission is free on first fridays. Includes outdoor sculpture garden with seating. Worth the visit!
iostmol
Easily my second favorite museum in queens. Amazing garden with sculptures and nicely styled trees.
Matthew Takata
Great museum, well worth a trip out to see it.
Jil H. Lesko
This museum is a gem. The building, the art on display and the garden are all spectular. Probably the largest collection of Noguchi works you will ever see in one place. The history of the building is also interesting and Noguchi's original studio is across the street.
Parking can be a challenge but it's totally worth the effort. The museum shop is like another part of the museum. All sorts of delightful items and books.
Make the trek to Queens, you won't be disappointed.
Trevor Cook
Excellent, well maintained collection of Noguchi works and garden with rotating exhibits featuring related artists
oğuz özsoy
Super serene, peaceful and must-see landmark, not only a museum. Amazing works of Noguchi. Staff is very helpful and attentive. Boltanski installation in the garden is another gem. Museum shop is tastefully curated with Noguchi designs and external design items which are pricey but definetely worth their price tag.
Lauralee Powell
Great experience! Was a wonderful combination of industrial and outdoor spaces. Amazing sculptures and more to see then I thought.
Shari L
The museum is peaceful and truly catches the essence of Noguchi. If you're looking for excitement, this isn't it. If you're looking to appreciate open space and art installations in LIC, this is your spot. Come with an open mind.
Juan Pablo Gutiérrez
Cozy and beautiful. There is no museum with such intricate sculptures. The staff is lovely.
Sunny H
Beautiful & peaceful space. Worth the trip out to Queens.
Rachael Wang
One of my favorites hands-down. It’s an airy, calm, and spatial museum with a variety of oriental displays to enjoy.
The entrance fee is only $10, which is relatively cheap for a museum in NYC. Staff is welcoming and will inform you if there are tours.
I loved both the outside and inside areas. Their play with natural and artificial light is beautiful. This is a must-visit if you happen to be in NYC!
Matthew Brind'Amour
Interesting blend of old and new architecture. The outdoor garden space was particularly nice. A calming place to relax and take in several of the pieces on exhibit and one of the trees was in bloom on our visit which made it especially nice. The current Akari exhibit with the paper lamps was a fun space to enter and engage with the art pieces. Overall a well put together museum, not too costly at 10 dollar admission, and a great way to spend 30 to 60 minutes of your day.
coney B
Such a pretty and calming place to be at, really nice place to take photos too~ perfect for Instagram photos!
Roger Bultot
A quiet hidden enclave in Astoria. Worth the effort to get to.
Eric London West
Beautiful space that slowly enchants you. Very rewarding experience to see a single artist's work in a place he designed. Highly recommend going to the museum website and reading his bio, first. It's a small museum that you can get through quickly and may want to walk through twice. By the end you may see the work very differently. It's hard to explain why.
Tanganyika Shipman
The Noguchi is a magical museum. My personal fave is the outdoor garden. I'm a life long Queens resident but this never gets old to me.
Michael Sender
Beautiful sculptures in a well designed museum
Lisa S
Wonderful zen experience, amazingly tranquil oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of NYC. The sculpture garden created an authentic atmosphere between the strength of the individual pieces and their placement both outside amongst the elements of the garden(nothing like the raindrops clinging to the long pine needles as a backdrop or foreground) or inside with lighting that truly highlighted each piece. The lighting pieces were equally impressive and presented in their own impactful design. A truly wonderful experience.
Kiran Vanaja
We were told of this museum by a friend visiting from Boston. We went to the museum on a Sunday and it was one of the best experiences i've had in a while. We started exploring the museum from the outdoor park section and everything we saw was just spellbinding. Noguchi is a master sculptor and a world renowned one at that. The two levels of his creation have to seen to be admired and revered. If you get a chance to visit this museum do take it.

Founded and designed by Isamu Noguchi, this is a precious sculpture museum in Astoria. Magnificent is the exact placement of each sculpture, giving them life to their own positive and negative spacing. Presently, Christian Boltanski, Animitas fills the museum's garden with the music of gentle bells. Ahead planning of reserving tickets and a special trip from Manhattan I took for this specific museum. Inspired I am and will wholeheartedly make it here again and again!
Eva Y
A small and minimalist museum located in a remote area of LIC/Astoria. It is made up of abstract sculptures and art and may be boring for those not into this kind of art. I was pleasantly surprised by how zen this museum is. The exhibitions were relaxing to look at and the space (especially the garden) felt peaceful. Recommend coming here on a nice day so you can get the most out of the garden. This museum offers a moment of peace away from daily stresses.
Edna St. Louis
Gorgeous museum, and beautiful gift shop. Perfect place to spend an afternoon.
Ray
My favorite place to decompress and take space away from the crowded hectic city! I love coming here and the tickets are SUPER affordable! Love it here
J H
A super zen museum that is perfect if you're looking for a quiet get away from the city. Stop by for an all encompassing experience with both indoors/outdoor parts of the museum all very thoughtfully planned out with natural light and a pretty little garden. The maximum it should take you to see the entire museum is about 2.5 hours.
Yusuf Sheth
Beautiful museum with some very interesting static pieces. The layout of the museum is a little labyrinthine despite their best efforts to lay out a linear plan for visits. Staff are young artist types and generally are passionate about the exhibits. Beautiful courtyard.
Emmanuel Lugo
An amazing museum with a fantastic atmosphere. The indoor/ outdoor areas are very cool spaces to be in and the sculptures are things of beauty. They have a small café with books and objects for sale such as akari lamps and jewelry. There is am education center where students who do programs can explore sculpture with museum resources. Lastly the placement of the museum is quite convenient with there being a Costco across the street
John Battista
One of my favorite places in the city. It’s tucked away in an industrial area near the water, but it’s well worth the trip. Subway isn’t nearby so you’ll need to take the Q104 bus or an Uber. Inside, it’s an oasis of calm and beauty, especially if you like sculpture. Sometimes I go just to sit in the garden and read a book.
jon Anvil
If you're a sculptor or just a fan of sculpture this place is a must see. The forms and designs of a modern master on display for inspiration!
kruti kothari
This museum is an intimate libation to Japanese aesthetics. It's is so worth the money you paying i.e 10$ only. Relatively cheaper then a lot of New York museums. It will not fail to delight you when you sit in their Zen garden and just get lost in living. Damn the place teaches you how to treasure traditionalism and adapt modernism. It's even for people who don't understand art or sculptures, it will touch something inside you.
Ian Robertson
This museums is one of the most beautiful in the city, and although the collection does not often change - it's dreamlike and meditative atmosphere would make me visit again regardless. It's outdoor areas, modern interpretations of a traditional Japanese garden, were fun to explore despite a heavy rain. I enjoyed it so much that I might argue the museum is meant to visited in the rainy seasons (fall and spring).
I recommend sitting through the (lengthy) documentary at the back of the museum, near the exit. Noguchi was an artist whose life is as much a part of his legacy as his work. His responses to adversity are inspirational, and his work takes on a new dimension after you've seen it.
Mark
I never pictured this museum as large as it is. Transcendental, calming, quiet and most beautiful. If you have a love of sculpture, and some eastern influenced art then you really must take a trip to this part of Queens.
Laurent Bouaziz
A hidden gem in NYC. We went there a Saturday morning and it was the magical experience. Very few people to visit this museum with extraordinary sculptures and the Magnificent garden. On top of the Noguchi works there was another exhibition that was also very interesting. This place is off the beaten path, but follow how long?
Victoria Leonard
Very well maintained place. Just wished there was more furniture pieces.
Marco Alfonzo
Great non popular museo. It's not that close to the metro, but the experience is worth it.
J-Rocks!
Great museum, a little different from the norm but an interesting documentary of one man's life work plus a guest exhibit. Worth a visit to combine with Socrates sculpture park nearby, it's a short walk to the Astoria ferry terminal off Vernon Boulevard.
The vegan bee
My friend asked ‘what did you do today’ and I answered ‘noguchi’. He thought I meant no gucci and wanted to know where. No, noguchi museum is gucci.
Andrew Rona
Amazing how this man got involved with the hardest materials in the world, granite (so many types), basalt, marbles (so many and so different) even terracotta, wood, bronze and steel and still managed to forma the most desirable shapes with most seductive curves and textures but, you are not allowed to touch them or somebody will jump and scold you. Why did the artist do all those special textures and surfaces if not to feel with your tactile sense the beauty of the object?
Still an amazingly beautiful and inspiring exhibition of an outstanding artist.
Samantha Tal
This is a great place to visit if you are interested in sculpture. Noguchi experimented with Japanese art forms in his work, and some of the exhibits had a serene and calming effect. There's also a biographical video about Noguchi that reveals his influences and his background. The museum is located in Long island City where there's plenty more to see in addition to the museum, so you could make a day out of it. Also, the Museum is free and open to the public on Friday afternoons.
Lisa Qualls
I would give the museum 5 stars if it were not for the very unprofessional behaviour of the employees. The building, garden and selection of work on display is wonderful and worth the the trip from Manhattan. The museum is nit easy to get to so it would seem to be even more important for the employees to be welcoming, polite and helpful.
The two people at the front were polite but could have been more helpful describing the parts of the museum. The 3 employees who were in the smal shop/cafe could not have been more of a turn off. The people behind the counter were immersed in a personal conversation when I walked in. They did their best to ignore me and my husband. There was one other customer in the shop. I finally got the attention of one of the employees and ordered tea. He made some comment about not being sure he could get hot water. He was able to produce hot water and served me.
I had to interrupt a conversation between two other employees having a personal conversation after standing at the counter and being ignored. I asked about shipping a large lamp and was told they don't ship. The website says they ship. The employee was unfriendly and annoyed that I had interrupted his conversation.
It took some effort to make the trip to the museum. We would have enjoyed the visit much more if the employees been friendlyn professional and knowledgeable.

A small but interesting collection mostly of stone sculpture. The garden is quite beautiful.
mike c
Love the museum
Alexandra Skerry
This museum is so calm and unexpected. Very beautiful and the collection was really interesting.
Michelle Wallace
Serene, looks small but if you appreciate art you'll definitely spend 2 hours here.
Grace Jeon
This is hands down my favorite museum in all of NYC. It is definitely a tranquil escape. The exhibitions are always inspiring with an intentional flow and use of space. The architecture is very open and welcoming. Could not recommend enough.
Daniel Kim
It’s an airy museum with a nice outdoor space. Entrance is free on Fridays. Avoid if you don’t have an interest in sculptures. This may sound strange but the bathrooms have amazing AC!
Holly Eng
Perhaps it's because I visited when some of the collection was being used at the BK Botanical Garden so the museum seemed to be on the "smaller" side in terms of what there was to see. Coupled with the inconvenient location, I found it a bit disappointing but I did appreciate the guided tour that allowed visitors to learn more about Noguchi and some of his other famous works around the world and what to look out for locally in NYC such as the Red Cube.
Harold Salters
Outstanding. Learned so much about this artist. An unexpected Long Island City gem.
Kevin Pineda-Gould
If you want to find peace through monolithic stones and gardens, this is the place. Names like night wind represented as stone, really quite something. The coffee they offer lacks unfortunately. Such a unique place should offer unique coffee.
eric smalkin
Wonderful museum that is child friendly and a good size to see in a visit. My kids loved the sheets they gave them with facts about the artworks and find the artwork type puzzles.
Bill
A nice solemn place to hangout and look at very...very eclectic art. Minor issue with the man at desk. He's inconsistent with who he tells to have their bags worn in the front. He specifically told us to wear the bags in the front but I've seen him walk by so many people without telling them.
Daniel Heinzelman
Spacious museum, good for really taking in the scultpures from all angles. I like the more "raw" area with stone flooring rather than the traditional, sometimes stuffier, creaky wood floored section. It might depend on timing, but the outdoor area feels like a good quiet place to relax.
David S.
Such a beautiful space, not surprising considering who designed and occupied it. Well worth the trip out to Astoria. The sculpture garden is a special place, be sure to go in fair weather.
Darren Ingram
Noguchi is a beautiful museum and sculpture garden. I plan on visiting again to experience the Sculpture Garden in Summer
David Seif
This is the best museum in New York. Why? Because it's rare that you can see Noguchi's work. Here you see as much as you would at any Noguchi retrospective ever put on. The scale of the museum is lovely, not exhausting. Interesting architecture with modest materials and perfectly complementing the work. The neighborhood is authentic, stop off on Broadway somewhere near the "L" for some ethnic food of one type or another. It's the pride of Queens and raises the borough above Brooklyn (sorry, but it's true Brooklyn, try harder.
Matt Binetti
If you're jonesing for a zen fix, this is the place. And it's a great destination for New Yorkers looking for something new and different to do. Yes, it's a bit harder to get to, but take that as part of the fun. Make the visit an adventure and work in some other sites in the area like Astor Bake Shop for lunch and the Socrates Sculpture Park. There's lots of incredible graffiti art around the area as well. It's a well maintained museum for sure and Noguchi's art is really awe-inspiring. We've all seen countless marble statues of people, so it can't hurt to just see a big round, rock thing sometimes. There's also a tranquil rock garden to sit in and contemplate where the universe came from.
G K
Superb museum of works by the king of wabi sabi - Isamu Noguchi. Attended a great talk by educator Mariko.
Claire B
Great museum. Relaxing space and beautiful pieces. Definitely worth a visit. Nice to hang around a bit in the cafe after looking around for an hour or two.
Mark Spoelhof
Amazing gallery with truly amazing artwork.
L C
Really underrated attraction. Made my being more Zen afterwards lol
Jeff Sherman
A quiet gem of a museum devoted entirely, and cultically, to the life and work of one man. You probably know Noguchi's sculptures, but the garden, the furniture, and the lights are the real reasons to visit.
It's one star short of perfect because of the poorly conceived class we attended: a class for toddlers about textures in a museum where you can't touch the sculptures!
Eric Leve
A wonderful place. But just not as wonderful as the spot in Kagawa. No comparison really. But still fills one with the incredible breadth of Noguchi's imagination. The spaces feel more bounded here (because they are) but every so often you'll capture a perspective on something that will melt your heart. Gift shop is a good source for Noguchi lights, etc.
D. A. Królak
This place is an NYC treasure. I've visited it often, since it is close enough for me to do that. It has also changed and expanded to make me a very happy camper in the 15 years of going. Often I'll bring all out-of town guests here as well, because while off the beaten path it is a quintessential 'New York experience.'
The staff are always helpful & friendly, their email list is unobtrusive and informative, and keeps you up to date on all the things that are easy to miss in the city that never sleeps. When it first opened (because of no heating) it was closed during the winter and now it has been modified to be open year-round. Making the view in the garden breath-taking no matter the season.
During the short time it was closed, my adoration followed them to their temporary space in LIC as well. Each time, and every time it is a revelation as the curation and one of my most favorite moments ever in a museum was seeing the Martha Graham exhibit when it reopened. Simply breathtaking to see the props used in her most famous dances up close and archival footage to really land like one of Martha's own stomps on stage hitting your chest. Brought me to tears.
Korapin Srisom
I love this museum. Design of the space, transition and sculpture from Isamu Noguchi are amazing. There are staff in every area if you need explaination of art works. Definitely come back and recommend. They also have coffee shop inside the museum. Nearby, there is Cosco food court where you can find cheap meal after visit the museum.

A place of deliverance from those days when we've too much time to think and ponder, or when there's simply too much going on in life. The perfect space to go alone and get absorbed by simplicity and the beauty of natural rocks, only slightly transformed by Isamu Noguchi's hand.
The museum also has good public programming that encourage visitors to relate more intimately to the pieces. And a lovely garden.
Estar An
one of the most serene and beautiful places within the city.
Chris Mueller
I absolutely love this museum; I would give it 6 stars if it were an option! Noguchi's sculpture work is famous the world over, and some of his best pieces are right here at the space he purchased and designed himself. There are not many opportunities to experience an artist's work in exactly the setting that he/she wanted you to experience it in. Noguchi's experiences as a half-Japanese American during the time of Japanese internment are also incredibly prescient for today's politics. I can not recommend this museum enough; skip the crowds at the famous museums, and make the trek to this hidden gem!
Andrew Richardson
I didn't know much about Noguchi before visiting the museum but immediately I was struck by the different textures of the stone pieces. I wanted to reach out and touch them, and occasionally I did. This was the way Noguchi originally intended his stonework to be experienced, according to the helpful person at the front desk. I was informed that this was not allowed but luckily we had this conversation after I had already walked around. The environment within the walls of the complex is very serene, and the bright winter's day showed how well the architecture uses darkness and light, indoor and outdoor space, and height. It is a shame only about the moderately high entrance price and no-touch rule!
Ana Miraglia
Good place to rest and feel a positive calm vibe. The bulding is just amazing, full of light. There were not that many amazing things to see, but I'm also not an art specialist. I would definately go back though, specially on a sunny day
Fabiano Sarra
My new favorite museum. If I lived in NYC I would be a member and visit all the time. Being in a space with all of Noguchi’s work leaves you feeling inspired.
Hermès Espinoza
It's a great spot to visit!!
Dr Jesica Mac Leod
Amazing sculptures museum, very simple and spacious. The garden is awesome and the pieces are just marvelous. it is a must if you like modern- japanese art and it is very interesting
Zack Fishman
A great museum to wander through and chill out.
Andrew Tetzlaff
Really enjoyed the quiet and powerful nature of noguchi's work. The set up is good though I feel it could have had a sparser installation. That said, it was good to see more of his sculptures.
Shravan Dhakal
Amazing! First artist to have their own place to exhibit their work.
Antonio Olivo
An incredible relaxing, amazing, interesting museum, more than a museum. I love it. Worth a/more visit
Brian Staresnick
Amazing museum of noguchi's work spanning stone, metal, wood, lighting and sketches. I'm pretty sure the space used to be his working studio which makes the museum even more interesting to walk around.
Domnitza-Carmen Belecciu
The only thing missing here is a small Japanese Cuisine Cafe with Japanese Traditional music Outdoors in the Gardens of Noguchi Museum so the.Sone Carvings & Noguchi Museum Sculptures can be both art consumed & admired in the same time which will make it an Exceptional Atmosphere and Artistic Experience ! Anyway even the Silences of the Stones & Sculptures sings Universe & Stars or speaks to me volumes of their Infinite earthly & heavenlh Wisdom !!! !

Really unique museum. Its a bit far from the station so take a bus or Uber. Very spacy, spent about 2 hours there. The Socrates Park is near by with Costco right next door.
Leeana Spreewell
My friend and I visited here and loved it. I have to learn more about the style of art they collect and showcase, but the presentation we saw was serene.
Noah Berland
Amazing, you need to go, a truly quiet space in NYC
orell anderson
Sit. Sit for some time. Bask in it. Love it.
Christina
What a relaxing way to spend an afternoon! I'm no art expert, but for me, Noguchi's work is dramatic and intriguing, especially considering the materials used.
I only wish each piece were more obviously labeled with their names and backstories. Otherwise, unless you're given a tour by one of their enthusiastic guides or already know about him, you can get a little lost.
Laurie Greenwald
On depth presentation of the artist. Hard to get to with public transportation
Kathleen Warnock
One of NYC's best-kept museum secrets. Beautiful small museum with a tearoom, docent-led tours and works by the great artist displayed both indoors and out.
Misha Bluvshteyn
Interesting museum of sculpture and a nice garden to sit outside. This place has a restaurant but unfortunately you can't take the food from the restaurant to the beautiful garden to enjoy on a nice sunny day.
Hector Moreno
It's a good museum, outdoor area and lots of sculptures
Hin-Yan Liu
Simply fantastic. Pity it's situated in such a God forsaken neighborhood! Would have been more in tune before the Costco was built... Certainly a highlight of any visit to NYC.
Paul Personne
It may be a bit off tracks, but definitely worth going.
Laurence OfNYC
When I think of how long this museum has been a part of Queens, I can't help but admire the forsight of the Noguchi estate. When the Art Industry of Soho and Madison Ave were banking on Brooklyn, Noguchi went to Queens, as did Marlborough Gallery for storage.
Of course, I'm a fan of Noguchi's table, and you can see in his sculptures how such a design could evolve from his process.
Simple, balanced aesthetics are beautiful.
Ellen Dobbyn-Blackmore
This is the most beautiful, tranquil thought-provoking place I can think of that's close enough to be visited. An afternoon here is as restorative to the spirit as a weekend getaway.
Ankeet Shah
The museum is a must visit. Expect a confluence of Traditional and modern art through The eyes of Isamu Noguchi. His work is great and the museum is well built
vanessa son
A small but very well constructed museum with many interesting and beautiful pices of art. It has both indoor, outdoor and cafe area. I want to visit this museum again.
Mauricio Vera
Beautiful and Unique experience.
You can’t miss it.
richard burger
Went to a toddler class which was a lot of fun if short. Beautiful, serene museum
Isaac Daily
Pretty nice there is a bit to see, it's big but not to big, there are several pieces outside, and in a covered area.. oh and had this dance chair perfomance piece your girlfriend will love and immediately post to Instagram.
Bruce Qua
Wonderful exhibits of Noguchi's work, housed in his former studio in Queens.
Outdoor Japanese garden, with Noguchi installations, indoor space, with numerous Noguchi sculptures.
Rotating exhibits, in addition to the permanent collection, currently Akari, noguchi lanterns, including a full size meditation room.
Flora Tsai (Flora)
Quiet place with beautiful Japanese garden. Feel peaceful to be here.

One of NYC’s best kept secrets. Amazing indoor/outdoor sculpture experience by mid century master, Isamu Noguchi. Great gift shop, too!
Whitney Janis
A New York City gem. Showcases Isamu Noguchi’s sculpture (the marble pieces are particularly stunning), with a peaceful outdoor garden. Highly recommended.
Ryan Whitworth
One of the greatest museums in the metro area. The collection is stunning and the artist a true treasure. The outdoor garden is perfect.
Nathan Carmichael
Very nice museum. New exhibits were still being made.

Hello everyone, I worked for Isamu back in the 1970s when he first opened up his studio, my name is gary I was helping Mr. SHIN AT THE TIME, ISAMU WAS A GREAT MAN AND I LOOKED UP TO HIM AND HIS TALENTS, I ALSO HAVE ONE OF HIS AKARI TABLE LAMPS, I CONSIDER MYSELF A LUCKY MAN HAVING TO KNOW HIM PERSONALY, GOD BLESS HIM,

The Zen of museums and design
A true hidden gem!!
In the 1940’s Mr. Noguchi put himself into interment camps for the Japanese
He also designed the classic table and paper lanterns
A Golden Bough NY
I love how this place breath its own soul. Relatively isolated this museum is a tiny paradise for minimalist poetic souls... And some architects.
Saranya Kanagaraj
I would suggest taking one of the free tours. There is a lot to learn about Noguchi. Also if you’re hungry afterwards, go to ramen shack (not for big groups) or house of Thai.
Su Lingzi (Lingzi)
Love noghchi museum!
Pat Splendore
Always a pleasure to visit. The artwork is stunning, the garden is so beautiful and great coffee in the first floor cafe.
Alessandro Ronfini
One of the most interesting museums in New York, you'll discover the life and work of Noguchi and explore his former studio, a beautiful and tranquil place out of the tourists path
Benjamin Selzer
Unexpected gem of a museum! Some outdoor sculptures covered for the winter. Also half the museum is exposed to outside, so don't go on a cold day!
arnoldgatoff
The work of Noguchi speaks to me of Universality, Spirituality, man's relationship with stone, rock, soil and water. I like the garden which takes me to another place in which I often find myself in Meditation and reflection.
Thank you Isamu Noguchi
Bill Opper
Great museum, friendly and helpful staff, laid out well, with an awesome gift shop.
Mark J Ragone
Definitely worth visiting...

An awesome space that shares Noguchi's body of work. By far an amazing artist. Do yourself a favor and visit this unsung NYC museum.
Chris Khan
Cool experience, awesome to see the man behind some of the most beautiful evocative sculptures of rock.
Luis Michal
Fantastic museum and former studio of Japanese-American sculptor and artist Isamu Noguchi. Great atmosphere and quiet garden.
hiker ponc
The place has little foot traffic even on free admission days. It has a peaceful feel to it. The garden is small but nice.
Angela M. Hyland
A real treat in the heart of Long Island City. Sculptures, light fixtures and furniture from the late 40's on have stood the test of time. Noguchi was a creative genius.
Jane Wolov
A sanctuary of form and space for Noguchi's works in the permanent collection. Great kids programs but note that strollers are not allowed beyond the front desk to protect the sculptures.

Quiet and zen. My favorite was the garden.

Cool museum, a bit pricey and not such interesting exhibits, but a lovely garden and interesting architecture.
