We saw a traveling King Tut exhibit years ago with actual artifacts. This is different, but for $20 entertaining and well done. You walk through rooms with various pictures and movies about what was found. There is a nice gift shop. Be sure to catch the addition 45 min documentary on the findings on the creation of the 22lb gold face mask in the main building. The main building also has some cool displays including walls with their journal front covers. The exhibit itself takes no more than one hour if you read and listen to everything.

When I went to the museum the King Tut exhibit was on display.
The museum took me about an hour to go through. I stopped and looked at/read/watched everything. The museum does not have any artifacts. It is a series of displays that have information on King Tut’s mummification and the related religious practices in Egypt at the time.
The displays are well done and interesting to look at. The displays are all projected images and short clips/films (with narration). The information is quite repetitive though. I understand not a ton is known about Tut so that’s probably why this exhibit doesn’t have a ton of information.
The gift shop is nice. When I went they had replica jewelry of what king Tut had in his tomb, which I thought was pretty cool. The prices in the gift shop were reasonable too.
If you’re looking for a way to spend an hour in DC this isn’t a bad way to do it for $16. If you’re looking to learn a lot about ancient Egypt or king tut you’ll be disappointed.
Ryan Rieboldt
If I could give this 6 stars (or more) I would. Walking through and looking at pictures along with a synopsis/story behind the photo from the photographer is simply amazing. The “Once Upon A Climb” exhibit is also a must see! The story behind our quest as a human race to conquer Everest is wild. DC residents are doing themselves a disservice if they haven’t been to the National Geographic Museum at least once, and this museum should be a staple for any DC visitor.
Tom Sanderson
Normally I would have given this 4 Stars, but I opted for 5 for two reasons.
1) This is a new and welcome trend in museum exhibition that there are ZERO actual artifacts on display from King Tut’s tomb… opting instead to teach through a combination of cutting-edge multimedia technology and the most current research. It’s a different take on what museums are “for”, and I have to admit I’m a fan.
2) This type of exhibit simply speaks the language of history and learning to the younger generation in a way they actually understand, not in the forced “look at this case of old stuff and appreciate it! APPRECIATE IT NOW!!” Ha!
The King Tut exhibit is really an amazing technological accomplishment, and will give even the most You-Tube addled youngster plenty to look at and be engaged by.

Our family came to DC for a vacation and this is the best exhibit that we saw! There was so much interactive history and visuals for my little kids to follow versus what most museums have, which is a ton of information at you all the time.
This is so well done and so beautiful. You must go check it out!
Shelby Boeshans Peck
Came to DC for a show and with time to spare we decided to come and check out the museum. $20 tickets per person and we probably finished the King Tut experience in a little over an hour. The visuals in their large room that plays a full room movie is awesome and unlike any other thing I've seen before. Walked away learning alot, hope to come back and learn about something else next time.

Saw the King Tut Immersive Experience here and have been to other exhibits here in the past. Excellent presentation every time. Lighting, sound, and video effects are pretty awesome! Go on a Sunday 'cuz street parking is free.

Within the National Geographic HQ is an off-the-beaten path museum. Celebrating the work of National Geographic, the museum rotates photography-centric exhibits showcasing the wonders of the universe. After two years closed due to the pandemic, the museum reopened with safety protocols (mask and social distancing requirements) on February 16, 2022. Here's what you should know:
1) Price: It's one of the few museums in Washington, D.C. that requires a paid ticket, but the prices aren't outrageous. Regular tickets are $15 and includes all exhibits in the museum. For students, military and seniors, it's $12. Children 5-12 are $10 and children under five are free. Reserve tickets online to guarantee entry.
2) Hours: The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
3) Exhibits: They change, but when they reopened, they had two exhibits. The first explores wildlife photography and the photographers behind the photographs. This exhibit is photo heavy, but includes a few interactive parts like an area to have your photo taken and a film with stunning footage of wildlife. The second exhibit showcases Mount Everest and the people who have climbed it. This exhibit is more interactive than the first, but both are worth it.
4) Store: At the end of the museum is a store with photograph-decorated walls and lots of merchandise from backpacks to cloths to books. There's also a kids section with a reading area filled with giant stuffed animals.
5) Location: Located in downtown D.C., the museum is within walking distance to neighborhoods like Dupont Circle and Logan Circle filled with restaurants. When it reopens, The Coffee Bar on 17th Street NW brews a quality cup of coffee. Street parking can often be found along Rhode Island Ave NW near the Canopy Hotel. Although blocks away, visiting Planet Word, a museum about language in a historic school, and the National Geographic Museum is doable in the same day.

Super cool! Our family loved the King Tut Exhibit and seeing all the old National Geographic covers and photos. Exhibit was so informative and interactive.
Kenier Galindez
Great museum, immersive experience was great. You will usually take around 1 hour doing the entire look. And at the end they have a big store with many interesting items.
Tamar Gershman
Went for the King Tut immersive experience and it was amazing! The effort and production that was put into the experience showed. The staff was friendly and helpful. The gift shop was well stocked and had a lot of wonderful things to buy.
Johny Mccahill
The small museum will inspire amaze and enlighten you with outstanding curated exhibits. It is not free but worth it .
Don’t forget to check out the gift store and find something really unique.
Mornoon K
It was a fine for me. I was very interested in Egyptian civilization, so my time was short after passing through Washington D.C., but I decided to see this exhibition in Washington D.C. I couldn't see the relics, but it was okay to be able to hear the history through video. It's a pity I didn't see the relic, but...

Beyond King Tut: The Immersive Experience
Exhibition is a cinematic, immersive experience that transports visitors to one of history's most important archaeological finds: the fabled finding of Tutankhamun's tomb in Egypt's Valley of the Kings.
Laurencio Ronquillo
King Tut was presented during my visit. It is a fantastic production to learn quickly and fact based. Tech oriented and small group and traffic.
I loved it and the staff was fabulous.
Deborah Weddle
Great couple of hours viewing the King Tut exhibit! Our 6 and 11 year olds enjoyed it thoroughly! First time at the museum, so we will look for more special exhibits in the future!
Rizwan Alibhai
It is less of a museum in the traditional sense and more of a cinematic type of experience so I think therefore it is highly priced for a shorter but immersion experience.
Melissa Hough
These folks always have fascinating exhibits in a really cool space. It’s off the beaten path a little bit so a great place to take visiting friends or family. Highly recommend!
Sonny Subido
There were two exhibits this visit. The first pertains to wildlife photography. The second exhibit was about reaching the summit of Mt. Everest. Both were exceptional. Purchasing tickets for one exhibit allows visitation to both. A win-win for all visitors 🙂
Gordon Govier
The King Tut exhibit effectively shares the significance of the discovery of Tut's tomb and the experience of life and death as perceived by the ancient Egyptians.
Teadora Monteith
I love this museum and always try to visit when the exhibits change. it is not too costly either, about $20. gift shop is fun as well
Glenn C Reimer
Incredibly engaging and educational experience using projections and sound. No Egyptian artifacts are used to keep them in their place of origin. Visit before it hits the road!
sam camp
Excellent display on King Tut. Gift shop is one of the best with a wide variety and good prices.
Bob Bonham
Nat Geo museum was cool. We were there for the Tut exhibit, which was very good. Can't speak to the other offerings, but it seems like a well run museum.
Karthik Jallawaram
Museum was great. There are very limited parking in this area, so recommend you to come in a little earlier than your show time. The museum is also walkable from the metro.
Irfan Silalahi
I visited the museum and went for the King Tut exhibition. It was very immersive. For once I could appreciate the ancient Egyptian’s perpective on the afterlife, among other things like how the discovery of the King’s tomb changes what we know about the ancient civilisation. I recommend visiting this exhibition and take your time to read the timeline since the time of the discovery.
Andrew M.
Amazing experience! Highly recommend it if you want to learn some history. Convenient location. Great for the entire family. 10/10, would recommend!
Don Malnati
We saw the King Tut exhibit, I enjoyed it very much. The museum also has other interesting historic and scientific instruments to see. We watched the film about the discovery of Tut's tomb in their theater, it was really a good film and a very nice theater. I recommend supporting and coming to this museum.
Kristin
We’ve been here a few times. Today, for the King Tut exhibit. This museum offers a great ambiance and educational opportunities… Definitely worth a visit for each new exhibit! — Today, I observed a couple of school groups there. Fantastic engagement activities for the students. If you’re an educator in the area, I’d encourage you to learn about opportunities for you and your learners to visit exhibits applicable to your curriculum and interests…
Evan Loehr
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the King Tut exhibit. Very powerful visuals throughout, and really gives you insight into the events that occurred following his death as they prepared his body for the afterlife. All of the staff was very kind. I see some of the negative reviews and am confused as to what they were expecting, the website and all the associated information clearly state that this is a visual experience and no actual artifacts are involved.
Cynthia Stine-Enanoria
I was here for the Beyond King Tutankhamun Experience. This was a virtual experience and it was nicely done. There was also an informative movie concerning King Tut's tomb and his death mask. Very well done and very interesting. I would recommend this experience. It was family friendly.
Constance Clark
I love reading as I go through a museum as well as the displays. The story of King Tut is very interesting. I found the information informative and the more interactive displays were beautiful. I did notice others went through more quickly than I did so they missed information that changed as I watched. I'm not sure it would keep the attention of a non reader or young child under school age. Perhaps not the smartphone generation either because there is a lot of information that is read as well as presented by other media.
Alex R
This is one of those museums you wish had a bigger space like some of the Smithsonian buildings. Hopefully, in the future, Nat Geo will be able to relocate and truly showcase all they have to offer.
Matthew Sharpe
The facility itself was great. Staff was very friendly and helpful when I realized that I showed up at the wrong date/time for our ticket. They quickly updated it to the next tour and we were on our way. Parking is on street or at nearby parking garages with a short walk over (block-ish with the nearest garages if that).
Bathrooms were clean and well kept and the facility itself provide space for the exhibits and was clean and well done for what it was.
Went to the museum for the King Tut Experience. While knowing in advance that there would not be any actual artifacts and mostly projection I was really hoping for a bit more interaction with the exhibits.
Not sure if this will be extended or how long it's there but really, unless your kid or even you are deep into Egyptian or Tut, while it's there...not really a mind blowing experience.
May Lee
I went for the King Tut exhibition. I loved the projections and information on who King Tut was, the excavation, and the beliefs in the burial. The projections were beautiful and mainly in 2 rooms. The rest was walk through, and more like a normal museum with text lining the walls. The only qualm I had was the repetition of some information in the exhibit, if we were not reading though every segment that would be fine.
Lisa Vail
This was my teen daughter’s favorite of all the D.C. museums! So much to see and hear- your head is whipping around this way and that, trying to catch everything as the story of King Tut unfolds around you on every surface. Very immersive and very interesting way to experience a “museum” (I put “museum” in quotes because there aren’t any artifacts on display. Everything is done with photography and other imagery, drawn from Nat Geo archives.)
Dan Carrick
I went to see the King Tut virtual display. It's not a bad place to visit if you want to get out of the house, but honestly the content is readily available on the History channel. So I wasn't impressed with the "smoke and mirrors" displays. I did however enjoy shopping at the museum gift shop.
90293Mike
Went to the King Tut exhibit. It was “just ok”. If you’re someone who doesn’t know anything about King Tut, this is a good introduction. However, for people who are somewhat knowledgeable about the story of King Tut, there was little new to see here. The audio and video presentations were well done but again they just presented basic information about the discovery and the life of King Tut and ancient Egypt. Also, I thought there would be some permanent exhibits about the history of the National Geographic Society but there were none, it was just the King Tut exhibit.
matteo visentin
The King Tut exhibit was great but I was expecting also a permanent section with nature content. I went here with my kid thinking we would see animals related stuff as well. I wish there was more space for special exhibit as well as a stable collection.
Tahirah Canty
I thought it would be much more interactive, it's A LOT of reading. It says there were time slots to reduce the crowd but it was crowded and they have a couple of screens for games to play but the lines were long. Maybe if they actually only let 20 people in at a time it would have been better. But it wasn't what we excepted we didn't even do the whole thing we got bored QUICK
Payal Thomas
This was a great museum to visit we visited with our With our six-year-old at eight year old are a girl had just finished a lesson on ancient Egypt, so we thought this would be a perfect supplement to his learning . We loved the immersive experience. It was very interesting to learn about king tut, this would definitely be some thing we would recommend to other families.
Omar Elhag
Great immersive experience and a great opportunity for me to relearn Tutenkhamun's history.
Emily Bever
Went for the immersive King Tut exhibit with my 8.5 year old. Perfect experience for her! Museum is a great size, not too overwhelming, and close to all the downtown things
Hilda Kroll
I gave the ticket office a call and a few minutes after I got to Nat Geo I was seeing Beyond King Tut, The Immersive Experience. Very few people were there and I could see the exhibit at my own pace. Beautiful projections with an interesting narrative.
Joshua Chamberlain
We stopped to see the King Tut Experience which turned out to be pretty good.
Jennifer Henderson
Super cute exhibit. Excited to see what they have next!
Mathilde Seillier
Really enjoyed the immersive experience of King Tut. I found it to be really informative.
Roderick Wells
They have rotating exhibits. King Tut was okay, but definitely not worth $20. But at the same time it's the only experience for King Tut in the area. It can go by pretty fast, so definitely stop to watch the videos.
Petry Purenia
The main presentation about King Tut is a new knowledge. It's very interesting. There is also a very detail documentary film tell about the process from dig until identification tomb. The entrance fee is $ 20. It's all worthy with the information you'll get by visiting NatGeo museum.
Andy Brack
Went to visit the King Tut exhibit in Jan '23. It is basically a multimedia exhibit with no actual artifacts. While interesting, I did expect to see a lot of historical photos since Nat Geo is well known for beautiful pictures, both new and old. But alas no. The exhibit only takes about an hour.
Dylan Berwick
The king tut experience was somewhat of a let down. Was expecting to see artifacts in a digital fashion. Being able to zoom in and examine them in detail without ruining the priceless artifact itself. Instead it's videos that barely tell the story.
It was cool, but I wouldn't go out of the way to see it. Stop by if you have free time to kill.
David Davis
I've seen several exhibits over the years, from natural history to archeology to movies, and I've enjoyed all of them. It's less a museum in the traditional sense than an exhibit space to greatly expand on periodic feature articles in the magazine. Exhibits tend to use multimedia and museum interpreters to create an experience from the topic of an article or documentary.
The exhibit on Tutankhamun is interesting and enjoyable, and includes an immersive video interpretation of the journey to Egyptian afterlife.
edt ttt
Love the NG Museum and their introduction to King Tut.
Maria Bermudez
Excellent. Saw King Tut immersive. Worth every penny.
Ginger Deason
We went to the King Tut exhibit, which was really good. The presentation of information was nicely thought out bc it wasn’t overload but it hit the high points and would make anyone want to learn more.
Amudan Alhassan
Walking through and looking at pictures along with a synopsis/story behind the photo from the photographer is simply amazing. The “Once Upon A Climb” exhibit is also a must see!
Dianne Bender
I went with a group from Heritage Harbour in Annapolis. The display we saw was on King Tut. Its well worth seeing, no actual artifacts but special effects filming and wonderful photos and recreations of artifacts
Dewey Rivers
It just wasn't what I expected from National Geographic. I expected a larger gallery with more than one exhibit. I did enjoy the presentation on the life of King Tut and the discovery of his tomb but, it was mostly just a multimedia presentation. No artifacts, nothing tangible to see. The environmental projection displays were engaging but, I expect more from a museum, especially for $20 when there are so many Smithsonians to see in D.C. for free with better exhibits.
Darnell Morris
Fun experience with a great education on King Tut.
Dennis Bass
These "immersive" exhibits, like King Tut at Nat Geo museum, are a bit overrated. There are no real art or artifacts present. Still, if the high tech video draws in younger people to learn a bit about a new subject and maybe go on to explore it, I suppose "immersion" has a place.
Jeffrey Haines
King Tut experience was amazing. Just wish they had some real artifacts. It was amazing towards the end sit in the room and watch the show. It's crazy cool.
Ken Thetford
Attended NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC’S "BEYOND KING TUT" presentation. We purchased tickets a month in advance and went on Wed afternoon. Very light attendance at the time and we had no wait to start the tour which took approximately 90 mins. This is our third time to see an exhibit such as this having seen the Van Gogh and one other presentation previously. These immersive presentations have become all the rage and do provide a lot of information about the subject in relatively short time span. There are no real artifacts or objects to see, only photographs and video of King Tut's tomb and a narrated presentation of the search for, location of, unearthing and removal of the artifacts from the tomb. There is also a good deal of info about the life of the boy king who only reigned for approximately 10 years and then a rather lengthy idealized presentation on the journey into the afterlife explaining the symbols and burial process in modern terms.
Rachael Haines
King Tut Immersive experience well worth the 20 dollar ticket. Do not expect o see actual artifacts but great exhibit nonetheless
D K
Great experience. Not many people which made it even better.
Olivia Covarrubias
Enjoyed the NG Museum and the Queens of Egypt Exhibit. I did expect more exhibits though and did not realize that the museum was only on the ground level. A not-so-friendly security person informed me of that. A very interesting 3-D film is also showing about mummies.
Thomas Irvin
The last exhibit I visited at the museum was the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
It was absolutely amazing and the VR aspect was beyond pale. I was expecting something of similar interest, but a little disappointed.
Rana Emad
Absolutely amazing. We went during the Queens of Egypt exhibit and it was beyond incredible. The way everything was displayed along with the information was amazing.
There were also part that were hands on/interactive.
Wasn’t too small nor too big. It was a great walk through history.
There was also a little 3D area which was pretty cool as well.
Micah Beverley
The queens of Egypt exhibit is really interesting. I think it’s very relevant to gender equality issues that face us to this day. I made a quick trip through the exhibit but I would plan on spending about an hour and a half to two hours to read all the information.
Felice S.
King Tut exhibit was amazing.
Nancy Gonzalez
Second time I've been here and I had to come check out the Titanic exhibit before it ended. Was not disappointed. Interesting to learn about the top secret US Navy mission that was actually being conducted and the amazing discovery of the Titanic towards the end of that operation. They had a few things from the actual shipwreck and this from the movie set, like the first class suite Rose was in and her blue dress and some of Jack's drawings (which are actually James Cameron's).
Hassan Karim
Awesome exhibit about women of Egyptian antiquity. Tour guide was kind and knowledgeable. I was disappointed by her traditional Eurocentric pseudoscience explanation of some points but she shed a lot of light on the overall subject, so I gave 4/5 ☆'s since the exhibition was superb.
Dulce Amada
The museum is pretty small, currently there's The Tomb of Christ, Titanic and one other exhibition, entrance is $15 per person and they give you 3D glasses for the Tomb of Christ part. Take your time going through everything, at the most you'll spend 30-40min here not including the gift shop (you enter on the left and come out from the right through the gift shop). I totally recommend the gift shop, there's stuff there that you won't find on their online site (like jewelry).
Marie Strom
Great place for family, groups, anyone really! Accurate information, relevant themes, great video and audio. Gift shop was really nice. I bought several Christmas gifts here. This week, themes were Titanic and Tomb of Christ, Holy Sepulchre, geographical location and facts from then and now
Ken Healy
The Queens of Egypt exhibit had amazing pieces. The 3-D rendering of Queen Nefertari's tomb is a must-see. However, I was a little disappointed by some of the presentations and much of the exhibit lighting. Many of the placards were difficult to read, at times a result of the poor lighting, and at others, a result of the size and type of the fonts used. The poor placement of the lights from above often made it difficult to see the placards without casting your own shadow over what you're trying to read. Other than these minor annoyances, the exhibit really was amazing and well worth it.
Alex Yeh
The Egypt's Queen Exhibition will be hold until September. It's not big but collections and events are quite good. You can spend around 1.5hrs to 2 hrs here and enjoy wonderful Ancient Egyptian history.
Diana Sandberg
Wonderful selections of beautiful and informative books and other great merchandise. Many thanks!
Laith Abu-Taleb
You MUST visit the museum when you are in Washington DC!
So beautiful, full of interactive stories, affordable entrance fees, and there is a shop inside where you can buy souvenirs ^^
You need in average of 1:30 hours to finish the tour inside and taking pictures 😁
KARTIK
2 rooms with 360° floor to ceiling projection-are the one ones worth going for.
The rest of the exhibition is just a repetition of the same information over and over again. Most of the 'exhibits' are photos printed on vinyl
Sin Aguayo
What a great place for the whole family. At the time of my visit, their exhibitions consisted of ancient Egypt with a focus on Cleopatra. So many relics to see and information to learn. The museum does a pretty good job at labeling every single item with a short history. Pictures are allowed just no flash. It is pretty amazing to see the sarcophagi in which some of the ancient Egyptians were lay to rest. It squares around itself so once you are finished you will end up at the entrance. So don't worry about being hectic or not knowing where to go next. Everything is connected. Highly recommended it. Follow me and my adventures ig: @Sin_Aguayo fb: sin Aguayo
Larry Lina
Museum is very nice, but need WAY better food and refreshment options. Hardly anything gluten free.
Erin Thompson
The National Geographic should be on everyone's list of places to go in DC! I go every time I'm in town. There is always a free exhibit in the windows surrounding the outside of the building and can be accessed 24 hours a day. There are usually 2 exhibits inside accessible with 1 ticket and a 3D movie which must be purchased separately. The exhibits are always top notch! I saw Day to Night a photo exhibit. IT. WAS. AWESOME! There is also usually a free exhibit in the lobby of the National Geographic working building next door.
Anna Anderson
Wonderful King Tut exhibit! Staff were friendly and kind. Highly recommend.
Cory Laws
Queens of Egypt exhibition. I knew little of the history. It's fascinating. Egypt was a very progressive culture where women were integrated into most roles. They had duties of motherhood and other domestic duties, but held power, we're judges, owned land, etc.
Melissa Mason
The museum is a little small, but packed full of amazing artifacts and information. The Tomb of Christ and Titanic exhibits were on display during our visit. Amazing!! The Tomb of Christ featured an interactive 3D exhibit that was so cool. Because the museum is kinda small, I would suggest taking your time to walk through slowly and enjoy it all. We moved through faster than we would have if we knew there were only two main exhibits.
Lili Fuentes
The King Tut Immersive Experience was phenomenally done. Thank you all for the effort you put into making it a neat experience.
James Struckmeyer (civilwarhero)
Gorgeous, convenient venue of a dutifully prepared exhibit. Delivered an amazing wealth of information succinctly and catering to all ages. Well worth the small admission fee.
April
Wow!! What an Awesome Museum!! I’ve always wanted to be a National Geographic Photographer!! Love the Jane Goodall exhibit, absolutely Amazing!!! Can’t wait to go again!!
Nok Nikeu
Amazing immersion experience! if you have light sensitivity please be cautious
Dominique Vanhecke
The Immersive exhibition about Tut is exactly what it says. 360degree projections, immersive sound… it’s all very nicely setup and sure a pleasant 2 hours. Don’t expect to see any Egyptian objects but that is maybe a good thing in the future concept of museums, leave the objects where they belong in the country they are found. Love National Geographic!
Bethany Heaney
We saw the King Tut exhibit last weekend and it was really just okay. It was immersive and mostly informative with nothing that would take your breath away. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you don’t have much else to do in DC (never the case!). The movie related to it in the theater towards the end had technical difficulties that were never resolved so we just left.
Lionel Mitsuya
Very interesting display celebrating the 100th year anniversary of the discovery of King Tut's tomb.
Kevin Cheng
Short exhibit, not many artifacts. Wouldn’t pay to visit
Alaina A
Awesome exhibit of King Tutankhamun! Very interactive, with most of the walls and some floors used as screen projectors. A lot of videos used, was perfect for my short attention span! It was like immersing myself in a Nat Geo article on King Tut!
Marcia Dickerson
The Beyond King Tut, the Immersive Experience was absolutely amazing!
Gabriel Gualteros
Great place to take family or visitors exhibits , shows and displays...lines can get long, buy tickets online ask for discounts or military can buy for entire group and save.
whk1992
Lots of animations great for kids, but not much in-depth discussions on King Tut or the discovery of his tomb. For $20, it’s pricy for a 1-1/2 hours tour that leaves much to desire.
Darlene jackson
The Queen of Egypt Exhibition.
The five Queens of Egypt from Nefertiti 1539-1514 BC, Hatshepsut 1479-1458 BC, Tiye 1390- 1350 BC, Isetnofret 1255-1245 BC and The last Queen Cleopatra 51-30 BC. This exhibition uses various mediums from 3D, film to artifacts. They have a model of a burial chamber and explain the mummification process.
Claudia Barion-Rosario
We were the for the King Tut immerse experience and it was great to learn about the advancement in archeology and update us on updates on the young King's life. Higley recommended
david fleming
Was expecting quite a bit more.
Many more pictures with related descriptions and the stories behind them. King Tut exhibit was good though.
Jason Brown
The museum was awesome. This was my first time going at it was pretty cool!
Joana Willingham
This is an awesome exhibition! I strongly recommend visiting it as it has a lot of information and some interactive experiences such as the Senat game. Though not interactive, the 3D feature gives you a tour of the inside of a tomb which was cool!
Carl Ward
Was Great rotating exhibits filled with multimedia and sensory experiences. We saw the Queens of Egypt exhibit and it was amazing. We enjoyed all of the displays. The 3D tomb tour was fabulous. The only negative inattentive staff in the gift shop. They were more interested in talking with each other than customers. All other staff were polite and helpful.
Darren Wong
Admission fee is $20. I liked the unique innovative exhibit although it was short; estimate at most 1-1.5 hours.
Alexis Thomason
This museum is a lot smaller than we anticipated. However, the exhibit we saw was amazing, powerful & very extensive. It was a homage our many unappreciated, Queens of Egypt. I love learning history about ancient cultures, so seeing more about these powerful, melaninated Queens was a treat. They showed all the things that any black girl wanted to know that they don't teach in school. From hair to harems, from perfume to power, this exhibit was probably my favorite out of all of the museums.
The only thing I was disappointed with was that the exhibit was the only thing shown. The rest of the floors were just offices in the building. The exhibit also had to be shut down early because of a tornado warning.
Tomy
It was ok. Not was was expected. I could have watched the same videos on Disney+. Nothing shown, just a long walk thru video basically. No real artifacts and very over priced gift shop.
Maryam Ashraf
One of the best experiences in life. Watched Tomb of Christ and an amazing Day to Night photography exhibition. How inspiring and motivating for photographers like me.
Charles Pratt Jr
Best Museum Trip Ever!
S N
Fantastic museum with something new each time. The current exhibit covers the Queens of Egypt and does a great job detailing women's lives in ancient Egypt. One of the best parts is a 3D video exhibit where you appear to enter the tomb and explore. Highly recommend.
Kenneth Atkins
Queens of Egypt exhibition is excellent! Very informative and very well done. It takes a few hours to see/experience it all.
Roger Helmick
In a city of outstanding museums, this deserves your time. Impressive technology is used to explore and explain topics. For example, the virtual reality exhibit is far better than others experienced.
We had planned an hour-ish but found ourselves there well over 2 hours.
If I lived in DC, I would be a member.
Tia Cherie, DVM
This museum did an excellent job with the layout of their information and artifacts. It was a nice flow of patrons, and I appreciate that it was made clear what was a replica and what was on loan as an artifact. There is a great 3D video on Queen Nefertari's tomb within the exhibit. Highly recommend visiting the Nat Geo Museum for their general free admission displays and also their seasonal Queens of Egypt exhibit. Beautiful, clean, and friendly staff.
Kim R
Went to the Tut exhibit. It was an immersive video exhibit vs actual artifacts. There was a complementary video in the auditorium.
Nizar Farsakh
Great space with amazing programming including virtual reality exhibits. Parking
in that area is a nightmare if you don't have a ticket to use their parking garage, so bear that in mind. They also organize amazing trips but they're very pricey.
Greg Goomrigian
Wonderful exhibits that as I understand change every fee months. Fantastic gift shop filled with books and Nat Geo gear.
Would definitely recommend when in DC. The artifacts are amazing and displayed along with narratives that explain in detail not only what they represent, but who used and why. There are additional displays and a terrific movie adjacent to the pay portion of the site with additional artifacts and items on display.
Cruz Sanchez
Amazing museum is dc that is a must see. The exhibits change every couple months so there is always a reason to go back. Great place to find unique topics that you never knew you wanted to learn about.
Christopher Rivera
It's really nice and a lot to learn from it. I'll recommend going really early because it really gets full, so many people it's really hard for you to actually appreciate it. But hey...it's free!!
Yusuf Jalal
Very interesting 🤔 museum with nice exhibitions. My wife and I saw King Tut's immersive experience and yes, it was quite immersive with visual displays that almost had a 360° view! It was fun, worthwhile and quite informative. Overall, enjoyable and I'd definitely recommend visiting if you get the chance while in D.C.
Toni M
I didn't enjoy the Tut immersion exhibit. I didn't learn anything I hadn't already known. I would say it's not worth the money. We walked out of the room expecting another room and stepped into the gift shop.
Anne Marie Gabrielle Dujour
The Tut exhibit was great! Inspiring! Great use of technology to share history.
Noor ul Huda Daudpota
Since I’m in love with the magazine since as long as I can remember it was a great experience visiting the museum.. this is their work place as well so you get to see the NetGeo team and a glance in their work life
Richard Lohman
King Tut exhibit was interesting, however no actual artifacts like real museums. Also, the only other exhibit was a history of National Geographic. I won't go so far to say that it's a tourist trap, but it's as close as you can get. This was definitely NOT a museum, as billed.
Dave G
While the King Tut exhibit is well done and informative, there are no actual artifacts on display, which can be confusing since there are peoples’ pictures in reviews that must show a prior Egyptian exhibit. It’s still worth a visit, but just be aware of what it is.
The museum essentially consists of a permanent exhibit, which is a short hallway of artifacts from NatGeo, and a non-permanent, rotating special exhibit, which you can see from peoples’ photos, and is essentially the entire first floor of the building.
Scenario
The National Geographic Society is an impact-driven global nonprofit organization that pushes the boundaries of exploration, furthering understanding of our world and empowering us all to generate solutions for a healthy, more sustainable future for generations to come. Our ultimate vision: a planet in balance.
OUR CHALLENGE
The world we have celebrated for more than 130 years is now under threat to a degree that the Society’s founders could not have imagined. When the Society was established in 1888, there were roughly 1.5 billion people on the planet. There are now over 7.6 billion people, resulting in unprecedented negative human impacts on the world’s species and ecosystems.
By some estimates, our current resource demands are already 1.5 times what the planet can provide. According to a UN forecast, by 2050 there will be an additional 2 billion people, bringing the demands on the Earth’s renewable resources to almost three times what it can sustain. As a result, we are in the process of dismantling the major ecosystems that are essential to maintaining not only the world’s human cultures, but also all life on Earth.
Iriana Cruz
Always great exhibitions. Loved the Tutankhamun exhibition.
Dib Dias
A must visit museum in the District! Right now, 07/28/2022, there is a very good immersive presentation Beyond King Tut! In D.C. you must go! You can purchase tickets online, however, they also sell tickets there. Don't lose this event!
Caitlin
This was an enjoyable experience! The Day to Night exhibit was fun for me because I love wildlife, and the Jerusalem exhibit about the burial place of Christ was super interactive which kept it interesting! I'm normally not much of a museum person due to my attention span, but this was actually worth it. Show your college ID and it's only $13.
Gens Linton
2 large rooms. One with beautiful large photo prints all over (but nothing you couldn't see online), and the other large room with a more interactive setup, which is pretty cool, but I wouldn't say it's worth the money overall... for our kids at least.
G Oulee
Came for the King Tut exhibit, amazing digital storytelling at the end!
Melvin R
I attended the museum as a daddy-daughter date with my two daughters. We were greated upon entering the museum by the front desk attendant. She gave us great service with a smile. We entered the exhibit hall and were drawn to the visual beauty of the exhibits. It was well laid out and educational. We sincerely and thoroughly enjoyed it. Job well done NGM.
Suzanne Smith
Great museum! Can go through it in about an 1.5 to 2 hours. The Tomb Exhibit was very good and extremely educational. I thoroughly enjoyed the Titanic Exhibit because I actually have was able to see things that I had never seen or read about before.
Elia
I visited the Tut king exhibition.
The information is not that informative and they wasted a large area with a little bit of info
Their shows and movies were OK
Roger Shields
More show than substance. Great graphics but not much of a story.
Toshima Williams
My wife and I had an amazing time!!
Molly Wang
First place to visit on my list and it didn't disappoint! The permanent exhibit and current ones on Sharks and photographer Brian Skerry are just amazing. The cafe serves really nice food for little price and stuff are just so friendly. Would highly recommend.
The Traveling Foodie
Not worth the visit to the Titanic exhibition. Expected a lot more. The tomb of Christ was interesting though.
Susan Buchanan
OMG. fell in love with this museum. So many different events that are all amazing and mind blowing.
Melanie Martinez
Queens of Egypt exhibit was amazing for any fan of Ancient Egyptian history and culture
Laurie Brustad Kennedy
The Queens of Egypt was everything I was hoping for! I highly recommend a visit here, even if you only have a couple of hours.
Frida Inchoga
The King Tut-Immersive experience captures ancient Egypt and heritage in a production that is timeless.
Elvin Rivera
This place is awesome , they got this VR experience which you can visit The Tomb of Jesus Christ and is out this world , the pictures and art is really gorgeous(Day and Night collection) ...great place to visit ...
Tom Foley
Awesome King Tut immersive exhibition. Well worth the entry fee.
Amazing light and laser show!
MH Mosby
Loved the Queens of Egypt display. The 3D room was super cool and the interactive experiences made the tour fun. Spelled my name in Egypt symbols. Not as awesome as actually being in Egypt ( I was there last year) but still cool.
K Z
It's the second exhibition I'm visiting here: very interesting and interactive! Just bring your credit card, they don't accept debit)
Eric Gregg
Queens of Egypt! Great exhibit! On display till September 2019!
Felicia Howell
Visited their King Tut exhibit and it was stunning and engaging. I had a great time!
Onyeka A
Very interesting museum. Loved the beautiful art works and photos of Stephen Wilkes.
Renate Mitchell
Queens of Egypt exhibit was worth the visit. It was good to the queens get their time in the sun
Brett Farran
Nice museum, not worth the price in my opinion. Super cool gift short
Zachary Pindell
Great museum, the Titanic Exhibit is wonderful. The Tomb of Christ exhibit was pretty cool, but it seemed a little expensive for what it was. The Cafe had a great selection of food for a very reasonable price.
Kevin Li
The tomb of Christ exhibition (time limited) was certainly the high light - it was so well done and gave us a much better perspective of Jerusalem even after having actually been to the site. Highly recommended!
baked beans
Very cool museum
Only giving 4 stars because I only saw the Egypt exhibit and nothing else
Jady Tsao
Very busy on a Sunday afternoon, for the queens of Egypt exhibition! The exhibit is very well designed!
Highly recommend looking up special events/speeches that Nat Geo has at night!
“The Impossible Climb” talk with Mark Synnot was great!
Mumu Imperial
Excellent experience. When to see King Tuts , very visual, informative and enjoyable.
Kimaula “Kimi” Aitkens
Exhibit was great
The museum was clean
A handful of Interactive programs such as 3D program, an ancient Egyptian game etc
Cons
Some of the pieces had no lights so it was hard to read and see the figures
The most important thing to note is that it's one floor.
Amanda Marshall
I knew National Geographic is known for their photos but I was a little but disappointed for the first exhibit as it was just photos. The Everest exhibit was a bit more interesting cause it had artifacts and a 3d model of the mountain. I don’t really recommend taking younger kids. It was pricey (2 adults (24/14) for $30) for a short experience. They did have a scavenger hunt for the kids. I just wish there was more to the museum. I hate to be rude but try sticking to the Smithsonian’s instead of taking this detour.
Nadia Bell
King Tut exhibit was informative and fun but had no real artifacts to go along with the video projections. Great gift shop.
Elisabetta A. (Betta)
The place where adventure, courage and dedication are honored and pursued. The exhibition "Women" is inspiring and magnificent.
Bryan Barbee
Great place for the family with small kids. Exhibits are geared for children 5 to 12 years old. Shark exhibit had some great photos of sharks.
antonio reyes
The King Tut exhibit was pretty awesome. Although personally I had expected more substance and greater detail. But that's just me.
Zian Xu
It’s rather small, I thought it would have displays about National Geographic (as an organization). The photography section is really good, enjoyed it.
Tamara Burnett
It was ok. Saw the Tomb of Christ. It’s a walking movie. Then walked through the untold story of the Titanic. I was thinking there would be more. Kind of a let down. But it was ok and I guess worth the money.
Ogabek Yuldashov
Immersive audio and video experience is good, but that's only about it. I would describe it as lots of text, audio va video materials presented across multiple rooms with good decoration. That's about it. Overpriced for what you get. Did not meet expectations.
Meiber G
Incredibly nice. Lots of technology, very impressive.
Rusty Beckham
We throughly enjoyed our visit during the King Tut exhibit. The storytelling was beautiful, and we learned quite a bit!
Bridget Delaney
Amazing, Traveling Exhibit was great but the exhibit about the society and magazine was a must see. Could spend all day and more here!
Alison Dowling
Tutankhamen exhibit is super fun—convenient downtown location!
Jin Jiin
Tutankhamen Immersive Exhibition is really fun and dynamic. Favorite one so far!
Matt Hengey
Hidden gem. A bit on the expensive side, but the exhibit on King Tut was amazing and Nat Geo is worth supporting.
Victor Hugo Rohden Prudente
One of the best museums. No words to describe, just go and visit.
Olivia Y.
Let me just say that visiting National Geographic was something I never expected to do in a lifetime. It was a rewarding experience and I learned much from it.
Eleanor Cozart
Went to see the king Tut exhibit. It was all video. Even if they don't have any of the items, since they are the property of Egypt, they can have replicas for children to interact with. $20 to watch videos I can see on my big screen at home was a let down.
Neal Brenner
The Tour of the Tomb of Christ takes the magazine that you had on your coffee table and brings it to a whole new level. The VR tour at the end is an experience like no other. A combination of science, religion, art and history. This is something for everyone.
Hans-Martin Ishida
Cool rotating exhibits. Saw the King Tut experience. Wish there were some artifacts, but for obvious legal reasons there aren't. Curious to see what comes next!
Celia Mazy
Saw the king tut experience which was absolutely amazing. And the small exposition. Wish there were more photos on display though!
Jeff Szczepanik
Always has great exhibits. Whatever it is go see it. You won't be disappointed. Great King Tut experience.
We Mo
The King Tut exhibit was going on. Wonderful!!! If you are in DC while it is at the museum, go see the exhibit
Lee C
The current photography exhibit, 'Women' is very good. Easy to spend several hours taking it in.
M G
Very cool emersive multi media experience. No artifacts, but a very cool way to experience and learn about King Tut nonetheless.
Ann Faust
Always a 5 star visit.
This time we came to see the shark exhibit. Information education and tonns of fun
Steve Randle
I couldn't help but think of Walter Mitty as I strode through this magnificent collection of natural photography. The exhibits within draw my mind back to the chiseled jawline of Ben Stiller, and his personal journey to enlightenment, from the valleys of unacknowledged greatness. Seeing and hearing the stories of some of the most powerful imagery to be taken of the raw and primal flora and fauna of our shared interstellar craft gives me new perspective on the internal mechanisms of our humanistic need for achievement, a need that is so eloquently displayed by the frantically muscled and toned body and mind of Ben Stiller in his classic film "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty". The Everest exhibit was another step beyond the pale, striking similar heartstrings that are played so fervently by the delicate but masterful fingers of Ben Stiller, as he makes the leap from safety, both physically and metaphorically, into the frigid air of adventure. Where will he land? Watch "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" to find out.
Sharon Argueta
Beautiful museum of mostly photography! Two sections to cover. Beware of show times if you're on a time crunch.
Susanne Morrison
Awesome experience. Went on a Monday and it was not crowded.
Brendan Ritter
Amid a number of Smithsonian experiences, this museum will sometimes be skipped. That is a mistake. The exhibits change, so it's hard to say if they'll align with what you want, but they are always very high quality.
Carol Fuller
Love the temporary exhibits here. Right now. King Tut.
Bruce Lewis
Nice place..cool King Tut exhibit...!
Dez
You don't wanna miss visiting this museum. King Tut is currently on and worth the wait...
Mark Dunkum
A great museum. The exhibits vary, so look to see what's there and go when something there interests you.
ryleejhw09
Clean, spacious. Friendly staff. Easy to get to by metro.
John Frels
WOW....What a well done exhibit!
Queens of Egypt is a MUST SEE!
Warren Hill
I actually was there to see the Queens of the Nile exhibit. I throughly enjoyed the artifacts. It was a combination of the mast married with the technology of today.
Fawwaz Hafizh
It was an amazing experience! The atmosphere felt authentic and the exhibit itself was informative and enjoyable!
Brendan Celiz
Awesome King Tut exhibit! Worth the visit!
Michael Lundeen
Really cool in depth dialogues into some excellent photos. I definitely recommend visiting. It won't take more than an hour and will be worth your time if you appreciate beautiful photography
Jacqueline McClendon-Adams
Visited during the Queens of Egypt exhibit and it was wonderful. Staff was helpful.
Carson Robb
King Tut exhibit is great!
Isabella Zink
My first time visiting this museum and I thought it was great. The Jane Goodall exhibit was really well-thought out and organized. Slightly text-heavy but also had a lot of really interesting visual displays, including a replica field tent. I ended up learning a lot more about her life and chimps than I expected. Even reading every label and display, we finished the Goodall exhibit in about an hour a half, so it is a smaller museum. There was a second exhibition on photography featuring women which was also very interesting. It was nice to see so many different, admirable women in various roles and how they got there. Overall, would highly recommend for varied, rotating exhibits and more of a low-key museum experience than the Smithsonians.
Evgenia Rudenko
This amazing place , it's cost only 12 dollars But it's worth it!
Heidie G
Saw the King Tut exhibit but was disappointed there wasn't a single genuine artifact to view, just replicas.
Will Gustafson
We visited the museum with our 9yo specifically for the Queens of Egypt exhibit. WOW, what a fantastic exhibit. While the lighting leaves something to be desired, the item descriptions were in your shadow every time, the artifacts and historic narrative are top notch. We learned so much! We stayed for almost 4 hours and didn't even make it to the main, permanent exhibits
The staff was friendly and accommodating allowing us to enter and leave as needed for lunch, car moves, etc.... Well worth your time and money.
Rebecca Tremblay - Vuik
We visited the Queens of Egypt exhibit during a business-trip to DC. Despite the exhibit space they have available their curator has made it a great experience.
The way everything was displayed along with the information was amazing.
There were also part that were hands on/interactive. It wasn’t too small nor too big. It was a great walk through history.
Sally Cabrera
Very interesting and had an interactive 3D exhibition too! Affordable tickets and friendly staff
Rita Calderon
I went to the National Geographic museum to see the King tut exhibit. Wow! This is a must see!
Sandra O'Connor
Disappointed, I was waiting for the moment to see the real stuff, items about the King Tut but it was just a digital exhibition.
Efstathia Kalapothakos
It was my first time going to the Nat Geo Museum and am so happy I did. I visited the Wild exhibit and the Holy Sepulchre exhibit. Both exhibits were beautifully done. The technology used to take you through the Sepulchre was awe inspiring and the experience is still being reveled by the group I toured with. The Wild exhibit is one not to miss if you have an interest in nature photography and anthropological study.
Toni R
It was my first time visiting this museum and I went to see the Queens of Egypt Exhibition. So my focus was on the exhibition and from that perspective I was happy with my experience. The layout was easy, there was just enough interactive displays, mini movies, and the over all exhibits was impressive. I most enjoyed the 45 movie that cost an extra $7.
Michael Thorpe
Fun exhibit and great for kids!
Warren Jones
The King Tut exhibit was really, really well done. Great place.
Jaimie Hamilton Schider-Heisel
We LOVED this museum! Our visit was during the Queens of Africa exhibit, which was crazy interesting. I loved the 3D tour through a Queen's tomb, and all the interactive pieces towards the end of the exhibit. Honestly though, we felt the permanent installation on the history of Nat Geo was more intriguing than the exhibit. I would highly recommend this museum!
Mike Dale
The special Queens of Egypt exhibit was worth the time spent. As good as we've seen in large big-city museums elsewhere. We returned for an evening program, there was something different each night. The speakers were a wonderful addition to a long day.
Naomi Ayuk
Great place to visit with children to learn about history and the past. Currently starring till September 1, 2019 is the Queens of Egypt exhibition. A very interesting voyage in the past to learn a little bit more about Ancient Egypt and the life of the pharaohs and queens of Egypt. Admission in the museum is not free. You can check out their website for more details.
Scott Miller
Wish the fact that ticket booth closes at 4pm was indicated better on the site. Didn't find out until we hustled across town to get there and arrived at 4:10 hoping to make a quick walk thru.
A Ross
Always impressed with how thorough and detailed the exhibits are. The Tomb of Christ was amazing. I'd recommend it to anyone for the historical significance if not the religious perspective. Wish the museum were in VA, otherwise I love everything about my visits here!
carol green
Wonderful exhibit of Egyptian Queens until Sept. 2019. Lots of artifacts on loan from Italy provide pieces never before seen in the US. Highly recommend, but come prepared to spend several hours learning and exploring the exhibit. Cafeteria provides a chance to refresh with a tasty bite, then resume the tour.
Brent Laughlin
The tomb of Christ exhibit I really liked with the presentation and the stuff they had about it. I thought there was going to be a mock up of the actual tomb inside but there wasn't which was a little disappointing. You were able to take a 've tour though which was pretty cool. The 3d movie we watched was really neat except I almost fell over. The bird picture exhibit was next as well but the rest of the group rushed through which was upsetting since I wanted to look at everything closer.
Becky Hart
Very interesting museum with lots to see. I will go again.
Mark Perschel
Really enjoyed the JANE GOODALL Exhibit. Amazing life story.
Josh Berger
Small place that didn't have too many visitors. It was fantastic. When we went, there was an exhibit about Egypt. It was so cool. They had Egyptian games set up and there was just so much history. I would highly recommend checking it out.
Rowan Forrester
Awesome. We saw the Christ's Tomb exhibit. 3D virtual world exhibit. Price is good, too - only $15. With that ticket, you can also see the second building exhibition, which was all the covers of Nat Geo over the decades. Very cool, low key thing to do alone or with kids. 👍 …
Edy Hatcher
An amazing museum with tons of new exhibits! I went on the "God's Tomb" one [I can't remember the exact name] and the Titanic one. They were both mindblowing and beyond what words could ever explain. You felt like you were actually there. A great experience for sure. I can't wait to come back in a few years to see the new exhibits.
Rosa Sanchez
The actual visit of the permanent site artifacts is free. Very limited
The exhibition for Queen of Egypt - there is a fee.
They offer Military discount.
The staff were very nice and restroom is available. Parking was not too hard to find near the museum.
Silas Griffin
I didn't get to go to the museum but I went to the gift shop they didn't the maps I was expecting.
Carin Gavin
I went a few days ago for the Queens of Egypt exhibit, and it was absolutely phenomenal. The tickets are only $15 (or $12 for students) and it was worth every single penny. Well laid out, easy to navigate, immersive, informative, and fun. I loved it and want to go back.
Ephesia Sutton
This museum is way too small. 3 stars
ACE HARLEY
Great experience! Very interesting and entertaining
G Aquino
National Geographic was our favorite magazine growing up so when we recently visited DC, we decided to stop by. We weren't really interested in the special exhibition so we just headed to the small gallery adjacent the museum building to learn about the organization's colorful history and their current endeavors and missions. There are no admission fees to that gallery and you'll see some really interesting artifacts, such as their first issue, the cover pages of the most popular ones, and some of their iconic photographs. If you're interested in these artifacts, definitely check out that gallery.
Shivam Sinha
The museum currently only has two exhibits. The tomb of Christ, and the Titanic: An untold story. While the entrance is not free, costing about $15 per adult, $12 if you’re a student, I’d say it’s definitely worth it. The Tomb of Christ is very well done with the virtual/augmented reality, direction and editing of the different explainers. The titanic was a little underwhelming by comparison, but still well worth the experience. In my experience there, the ticket prices were well worth it and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’d drop by again if I’m ever in the city and they have a different exhibition going on.
Donna Sebren
The Egyptian exhibit was amazing. I am an Amelia Peabody fan, and that increased my interest. The number of artifacts and the detailed description was fascinating. I lost track of time and ended up staying longer than expected. The exhibit in the main building was free and had video clips of famous people sponsored by National geographic. the clip of Jacques Cousteau and Jane Goodall were my favorite. It was a great experience.
Ipshita Datta
I loved the 3D rendering of the tomb of Christ and the titanic show.
Arianna Vranas
An amazing museum especially if you’re a photography and travel junkie like myself 🙂 We went to the Women exhibit that’s there right now and I HIGHLY recommend going! It’s $15 for entry but completely worth it in my opinion. Make sure to try and catch a guided tour to get more insight behind some of the photos. …
Brett Denehan
While off the strip, their museum is pretty great. The exhibit on Egyptian queens was really cool, and going across the courtyard to see past issues was an added treat. I'd highly recommend this on a bucket list stop on a DC itinerary.
chuck c
I love this place. I go to talks here at least once per month. Each speaker is incredibly interesting and professional. The museum always has really well-put-together exhibits that are great for everyone from adults to children. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. I don't usually rank places 5/5, but this one certainly deserves it!
Noah Absalom
I had a great time at the king tut exhibit at the National Geographic Museum highly recommend
Sud G
It’s a comparatively smaller museum but one of the best. When we went, there was a special exhibition on Christ. It was awesome. The 3D experience was mind blowing. It felt as if you are actually in Jerusalem. Highly recommended to visit this museum.
CM Reedy
I went to see the Queens of Egypt exhibit, which was great! I’ve seen a few of the National Geographic exhibits and i always have a pretty good time. The only criticism i would offer is that i found some of the informational plaques a little difficult to read. It might have been the type of font, the size, the color (in conjunction with the background color), the lighting level, of some combination therein.
Richard Holley
I finally got a chance to visit this museum this past weekend and it was pretty great overall. New visitors should be warned though that if you're expecting something on the scale of a Smithsonian then you'll be disappointed.
The exhibits span the bottom floors of two adjoining buildings (maybe more like 1 and a half) and rotate every few months. The two main exhibits right now are a pretty moving collection of portraits of various animal species. A number of them are rare, endangered, or already extinct so the exhibit notes that these may be the only portraits of them that ever exist. Very sad.
The other exhibit is an Indiana Jones prop collection that utilizes audio and video headsets to guide your through props from all four movies, behind the scenes information, storyboards, and stories from production. Nat Geo was also smart in that they integrated real life archaeological exhibits in this display so that you could understate how the real process plays out and where the movie drew its inspiration from. The only negative is that due to the small size of the walkways it can get cramped as everyone just tends to stop in order to watch their tablet screens.
The exhibit in the other building is an undersea photo gallery that documents efforts to protect more of the worlds oceans. This building also houses a movie theater that's currently showing a 3d film on Jerusalem that is narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch. It's worth a watch for the scenery and aerial shots alone!
Last bit of advice, when you buy your tickets they'll give you an entry time to actually go into the museum. For me it was 30 minutes later but I'd imagine it could be longer during busier hours. Plan for the potential wait!
Erica Jones
The Titanic exhibit and Tomb of Christ exhibit were well worth the admission price. The Tomb was mostly a virtual reality exhibit, something new for me. I really enjoyed it. And just when I thought I had read or seen just about everything to do with the Titanic, this exhibit exposes recently unclassified information. Loved it!
Deb
Reviews for this museum are mixed, and rightfully so, as it totally depends on the exhibits that are there. Right now, the Tomb of Christ exhibit is there and it's fantastic - worth the $15 fee (less, if you are a child, student, senior, or military). if you can go to one of the early showings, you won't have to wait in line for the final piece of this exhibit, which is a virtual reality tour of the tomb (there are 7 or 8 identical stations for this, but when there are 30 people on each tour, the line at the stations can build up quickly). But even if you skip this piece, it's still very cool. All that said, there is one room where you wear 3D glass and remain standing. There is bench seating int he back for perhaps 6 people total (and your view would be blocked by people standing in front of you). Anyway, the show in that room really challenges your balance and there are no handrails.
Richard Rosenfeld
They just traveling science exhibits. A bit pricey to see the king tut multedia show...but it was nice.
Brent Thomas
Fantastic and I was blown away by it. Only $15 entry fee and worth every penny. At the time I was there they had a display on The Queens of Egypt . Fabulous!! Like being in the Cairo Museum itself. Lots of statues, sculptures and artifacts to enjoy and read about. The display is extensive with many mummies and sarcophagi to enjoy. Incredible.
I talked to an employee of NatGeo who turned out to be the video and sound technician for Natgeo films and he introduced me to the director of the Museum.
Friendly warm and personable people. Highlight of my day.
J Engle
Loved the Queens of Egypt exhibit. The museum might want to review how they present the written descriptions of the various artifacts. Some in my group found the print didn't have enough contrast with the background and was positioned poorly--too close to read with their distance lenses and too far away to use their readers.
Joshua Saunders
A little disappointing. The exhibits were all very good, the presentation of Jesus' Tomb was very interesting and the 3D really well done, even if you are not religious it's factually interesting as history of the area, and the effect is dizzying.
It's not clear that there is a second building, but the exhibit is really small. Overall, there just isn't much to see, and an hour is probably sufficient unless you like to read every single wall plaque end to end. A third or fourth exhibit would make this a much more interesting stop. But again, the quality of what is there is very good.
Dondré
This museum is great! Very nice and has a super nice court yard. I went here for a night a the museum event which was phenomenal. They had food trucks in the courtyard, they had also had bunch of free food inside and they offered drinks to purchase. They were also giving out free merchandise. You had access to the part of the museum and the museums gift shop. There was also a concert going on.
D Moore
3 Stars for a couple of reasons. One, they force you to see both exhibits, even if you're only interested in one of the other. Started with the interactive Tomb of Christ exhibit (kind of cool, 3D, I just wasn't interested.) And the Titanic exhibit, which was all right, but not worth the $15 entrance fee IMO.
I wouldn't go back.
Frankie Amsden
We we're visiting Washington DC over the 4th of July weekend.although all the Smithsonian museums are free it was so incredibly crowded it was almost impossible to enjoy those museums. It cost my family about $80 to go to the national geographic museum to see the queens of Egypt and the mummies 3D movie but it was totally worth it! The museum is absolutely gorgeous the exhibit was fantastic the movie it was a great the atmosphere was cool and quiet it was not overcrowded. I would definitely attend this museum again when in the Washington DC area and recommend the queens of Egypt exhibit to anyone who is interested in egyptology.I think this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a lot of people that don't travel overseas to see actual mummies and artifacts of Egyptian tombs.
Tommy B
The photo ark exhibit is amazing. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon. The pace had the feel of an art exhibit. It was not crowded or loud and I did not feel rushed. I would visit regularly if I lived closer. As someone else had said. I don't know how entertaining for children. The crocodile and alligator exhibit was pretty cool as well. The small live exhibits definitely enhanced the experience.
Christian Bruce
The free portion of the museum is very small. Neat but small. The paid exhibits rotate. We visited the sharks exhibit which was filled with beautiful photographs of sharks. Cost was $30 for 2 of us and we spent about an hour there.
Edith Chester
Queens of Egypt Exhibition, National Geographic Museum, through September 2, is fantastic with more than 300 artifacts, over 1,400 years of history to explore & an immersive 3-D theater that transports you on a virtual journey through Queen Nefertari's tomb. This museum never disappoints, always is amazing. The museum shop has many interesting items to purchase.
Clvrblond
I toured the exhibit of Egyptian queens. There is a fee to get in with situation-specific discounts available. They had a fantastic 3D xzibit, a VR feel for one of the most well-preserved Queen's tomb in the valley of the Queens Egypt. There were a couple of displays directly related to children, and they did have a scavenger hunt like game for children to play, I really feel that this exhibit is better appreciated by an adult. Well worth the time.
John Franetic
Some nice pictures from the many years of the magazine. Mount everest exhibit made the vist worth the 12 bucks.
Brandon Decker
A lot smaller than all of the other museums that I'd visited and one of the wings was closed. It occurred to me that Nat Geo's contribution is the exploration and research they do along with their photojournalism. They aren't in the artifact collecting business so the museum was a little sparse. I was a little disappointed but happy I went. It is also a place of business and sitting in the courtyard having a coffee sent that home to me.

King tut expo immersive experience is amazing 💯 recommended
LuvUrPetCare !
Awesome exhibits! We are members, so we typically go at least 4 or 5 times per year to see the rotating exhibits. But you don't need to be a member to visit. They have an awesome virtual reality rotating exhibit that will blow you away! It's the next best thing to actually being there! The list of well known experts that come there to speak is off the charts!! Dr. Jane Goodall, Robert Ballard, Annie Leibowitz, just to name a few. Totally worth going to many times per year!!

It was an amazing experience here. They usually host exhibitions on different topics every few months.
When I visited, they had the "Queens of Egypt". The collection of artifacts, the detailed explanations and the 3D recreation of Queen Nefertari's tomb were extremely interesting. They also had a collection of mummies, various perfumes and some Egyptian mythological stories.
Edgar Lopez
It has great exhibits and a great 3D exhibit. The exhibits change around and the only downside not enough seating on occasion. But still a nice experience if you do not want to go to the Smithsonian
Carolyn Breedlove
We went to the Titanic exhibit during its final week. We were struck with how well done it was. It revealed an exciting history with remarkable documentation. The exhibit was crowded (during the government shutdown) but less than the other Tomb of Christ NGS exhibit. Having visited NGS for other events and exhibits, I'd recommend it for its reliable quality.
4real Jacob
It's not bad but I wouldn't want to go again. Price is high for not really seeing any genuine artifacts.
Matt R
This is a fairly small museum but the exhibits are well considered and interesting. I would put this on the second tier of DC museums to visit unless you happen to be a tremendous fan of National Geographic. The gift shop is a good place to get your friends and family some nice souvenirs.
Denise Bellows
Small museum, but exhibits are always phenomenal! Small size is actually perfect for older adults that can't walk as much but enjoy museums. Tomb of Christ exhibit and Jerusalem 3D were enjoyed by my family and extended family
Andrea Diaz
The exhibits are incredibly interesting. We saw one about the tomb of Christ and it was interactive. The use of technology was very impressive. There was also an exhibit about the Titanic. It told stories that I was unaware of. I recommend this museum.
Andy O
Small museum, but very well curated and designed exhibitions. My expectations for a show of Instagram photos was admittedly low going in, but they've created an incredibly inventive and engaging experience. Both shows are highly interactive, with multiple levels of engagement. Good for kids. Price is a little high for a 2 gallery museum (hence loss of one star), but I didn't feel like it was a rip.
Josh
Excellent, thoughtfully curated exhibits. Always a must see when we visit DC. If you're the type to mindlessly wonder through museums, don't waste your time or money. If you can spend hours lost in paintings and reading about their histories in the National Portrait Gallery, then this is well worth it.
Ashlina Chin
I reviewed the current exhibit which is Tomb of Christ and Titanic. The Tomb of Christ was AMAZING. The museum itself is small but with all the virtual reality technology, the exhibit seems so much bigger. I would definitely recommend coming and seeing this exhibit!
Lindi C
Small museum with rotating exhibits. Make sure to check what is on display before going over to ensure it will be interesting to you. There is also an entry fee (check the website for current cost). It wouldn't be my first museum recommendation for DC, but worth a visit if you have an hour to spend in the area.
Kunal Raj Barua
The exhibit was just fantastic. The entire place is well organized. The only place is that it has an entry fee. If you look up the exhibits online before the date you and find something interesting I would definitely recommend going there for a short day trip.
Michael Valdivielso
I have visited it with family, on and off, depending on the exhibits available. Always clean, well organized, and very popular. If you hear about something they plan to display that you want to see go to their website and see if tickets are needed. GO NOW! Tickets run out pretty fast. Near a few Metro Stations and lots of food in the area - depending on your tastes.
Jonathan Mazur
Was there recently for the Queens of Egypt exhibit. Top notch as Nat Geo exhibits usually are...
Matt Karas
Went for the Church of the Holy Sepulchre exhibit and it was really great. Even the Titanic exhibit, which I had no idea was there, was interesting. Yes the museum isn't free, but you do get your money's worth out of this one I think.
Sarah Linford
I was pleasantly surprised by this place. It's a small museum, but they had a really neat virtual reality experience of the holy seplechre. They also have a whole timeline of national geographic photos and paraphernalia which was awesome. They even had a camera that had been bitten by a bear if I remember correctly. Small, but fantastic. They make it worth the price.
Miguel Garza
Short exhibits that are hit or miss here. Considering there's so many other free museums in DC, you can probably find a better way to spend your time.
I will say, however, that when this place hosts events, they don't mess around! Had a blast at the last Greek event they had, so keep an eye out for Nat Geo events.
Pho Dro
This is not a full museum per se compared to Smithsonian museums, there is a tiny permanent exhibit and two shows. Tomb of Christ was very good, with virtual experiences. Titanic exhibit is also nice, if somewhat similar seen in couple of other museums was mostly filled with props from Titanic movie.
Melissa Black
Loved this mesuem. It is tucked into a small space compared to the other museums, but it is laid out well.
Shelley White
This is best museum I've ever been to. I felt like I was in Israel at the actual tomb of Christ. The virtual reality experience was incredible. I didn't want to leave. I will go back soon. You will truly enjoy this event.
El Simmons
Queens of Egypt exhibit was lovely. Bring a jacket, it was quite chilly in there!
Eileen McLaughlin
Good place for a 2+ hour visit, especially if the featured exhibit is of interest. Check before you go. Saw the Jane Goodall/chimpanzee research exhibit and film. Both very well done. Continuing exhibits of NGS photographic work and NGS history are interesting. Photo exhibits change periodically, also check online for topic. This visit was best for older kids or teens.
Krystal Ramirez
I didn't hate the National Geographic Museum, but I didn't love it either. What bumped it up from two to three stars was that their "Peruvian Gold" exhibit was really pretty awesome, albeit not very extensive at all. The artifacts on display were so interesting, and they were displayed in a great way -- just wish there had been more to see. And, I was not at all impressed by the other two exhibits -- "Mars Up Close" and then various photographs located around the exterior of the building. Although seeing a full scale model of the Curiosity rover was kind of neat, everything else was not that engaging. (For instance, the photos didn't even really have captions for context.) Given the steep admission fee ($11 for adults), I would not go back again.
Amy Caterina
Two exhibits: NatGeo photos and an Everest exhibits. Great setting. Wonderful interior courtyard
Steve Wood
Very conveniently located in the heart of the city, the Museum was focused on the history of Women of Egypt. It was interactive with 3D clips and short films. However, it was limited and certainly it will be unfair to compare it with a huge museum like British Museum. However, it was not even a far cry and a little disappointing in that sense. As with most brand specific shops, the National Geographic gift shop is also quite overpriced. The prices can be lowered and the sales increased, simple economics. It will give NG a lot more visibility (more items out in the market) and will also make buyers more satisfied in their purchases.
Kelly Berwager
Didn't know this place existed, but happy we found it! Titanic exhibit was good, but more info/artifacts with the movie than the actual event. The Tomb of Jesus blew us away! Having been to the actual tomb, I can honestly say they've done a great job of making this virtual experience a very realistic one. Almost got a little dizzy from "flying" up & over the tomb, but they have a bench for you to sit if you get motion sickness. Totally worth the $15 & the short trip off of The Mall.
Gregg Sansone
Amazing museum. The right balance between reading and interactive exhibits. The Tomb of Christ exhibit was really well done, was actually at the Temple of the Holy Sepulchre in March and the VR exhibits actually create a lifelike experience that transports you there.
Kathryn Card
This is a great museum if you have kids. It's very interactive and have some nice displays. The only downside is that is very small (one floor of a huge building). It is nice that they have changing exhibits every few months. Didn't hate it but didn't love it.
Angela Drake (Not Your Average American)
Depending on the exhibit, the NG museum can be excellent to only fair. Considering the cost of entry, it's best to wait and hear reviews of temporary exhibits. Don't visit this museum expecting to learn about the history of the magazine or the organization itself.
Samer Tayar
Great experience you feel you there awesome experience 🤓😎 …
Martha Beltz
Terrific permanent exhibit of the history behind National Geographic! Regardless of the rotating exhibit, this place is well worth 60-90 minutes of your time to appreciate how this organization has brought our big world a little closer to all of us. The courtyard offers a beautiful respite for weary feet!
John Simpson
Saw the tomb of Christ and the Titanic exhibits. Both were very interesting. Tomb of Christ has a lot of virtual reality aspects which allow you to move around and see various aspects. Titanic has a lot of interesting history along with recreations of parts of the ship and its compartments, etc plus recovered artifacts. Both were very interesting and worth seeing. Tomb of Christ cost about $20 but Titanic was free
E Hay (ehay2k)
The Tomb of Christ exhibit is a must see. Amazing detail captured in the main portion of the exhibit, and then the virtual reality section at the end lets you actually walk into the tomb. Other cool things to see as well, including a picture exhibition from Nick Nichols.
Hugo Christoffer Hallen
Nice museum with lots of fun gadgets for kids. The museum is, however, a bit small.
Matt Johnson
There were only two open exhibits, but the depth to both of them was impressive.
Samantha Smyth
Went to see the Animal photography exhibit.... Simply stunning beautifully and simply displayed photographs of animals on black or white backgrounds. Minimal literature but the blurbs they do have are relevant and entertaining.
Only reason the museum did not get a five is because there was not too much of a museum after that. There was one other exhibit across the hall, and then there was a permanent Sea exhibit across the courtyard which was not too impressive.
Almerinda Garibaldi
I visited 2 great exhibitions. First one "The tomb of Christ" - an incredible virtual journey/visit to the Saint Sepulchre Cathedral that was totally restored in Jerusalem. The second, Titanic: the real story about all the ship finding process with an amazing variety of details.
O Becker
Great King Tut exhibit.
Clyde Scheuer
Well done Tomb of Christ exhibit. Technology was great to see and have explained. I personally would have liked more technical details, but I’m an engineer. General museum also very good. Only negative is a lack of seating. Need someplace to rest weary bones.
Qiyi Yang
WRT the exhibition of Queen of Egypt, it very good and informative. While the exhibition only has one floor and with detailed reading of those exhibition, it is still no more than one hour’s tour. So price is really high, $15 / adult.
Tom Gill
Nice place though not as large of an exhibit area as we'd have thought. what was there was well done and engaging and it was not crowded which was nice for engaging with the things that were engageable. Admission fee--different than the Smithsonian freebies.
Eliot Prowse
A beautiful tribute to the amazing photographers of the great magazine. Relaxed and larger-than-life atmosphere.
Awesome
When I went here, I saw the Tomb of Christ and the Titanic exhibits. The Tomb of Christ exhibit, which cost about $20, was very entertaining, with interesting videos with the rooms dressed up as the actual church where the Tomb of Christ, a 3D immersive tour, and VR headsets where you got to "tour" the Tomb of Christ area. It was fascinating, although the 3D thing was disorienting and each part of the exhibit mostly repeated the same things that had been mentioned in the earlier parts. All in all, this was a 5 star exhibit.
The Titanic exhibit, though the history was fascinating to me, it was not presented in a way as interesting as the Tomb of Christ was. It was mostly just plastic boards on the wall with paragraphs of information, the occasional model or something, and the occasional short movie. It was also really long and detailed, and I would not take young kids on this exhibit, because they have a high chance of being bored out of their minds. All in all, the Titanic part, while interesting, was not an impressive exhibit; it was just decent.
Wynndy Johnson
The Titanic Museum Part was amazing lots of stuff I hadn't seen before or even heard about. Cool props from the movie. Christ tomb exhibit very moving definitely worth the money for the ticket.
Melissa Williams
Apparently the exhibits change here frequently. When I was there it was about the Titanic and another exhibit was about Jerusalem and the tomb of Christ. I didn't really know what to expect. I thought there might be more photography exhibits or covers from previous magazines. There were a few in the windows.
Julius VanGlorious
I truly enjoyed the National Geographic Museum. It was relatively small, in comparison to the Smithsonians, and it isn't free. That probably helped it to get such one of a kind exhibits and displays that you can't find anywhere else. I went on a weekday afternoon and was able to enjoy the museum almost completely to myself. They have rotating exhibits and I was lucky enough to catch one about wildlife photography and another about Indiana Jones. As far as I can tell these are the official props from the movie. They had the hat & whip, various outfits, and possibly every artifact Indy ever touched. It managed to seamlessly weave archaeology into the exhibit and was very informative. The photography exhibit was a stunning display of animals large and small, common and endangered, made to increase awareness of the plight of all creatures. I was happy enough with my visit to the museum to purchase a dual membership. I feel the benefits that I will get from the magazine, various exhibits, and movies over the next year are worth the price and the proceeds go to a great cause.
Vee Campbell
Although their exhibit space is petite, NatGeo has a creative curator who uses the space well. 3 dimensional standing tours, interactive storytelling, and moving pictures make the exhibit feel grander than the space it occupies. The exhibit we saw? The Queens of Egypt.
James Mason
I came for the photography exhibit, knowing that National Geographic employs some of the worlds best nature photographers. Many of the images were stunning. I was a little disappointed that there weren't more (though there were a lot, I just had expected even more for some reason). The tour of the tomb of Christ is a new exhibit that is uses some augmented reality: a bunch of projectors show the walls of the tomb on actual walls of the room. A door opens at one point. One section has you wear 3D glasses, though I thought this part was pretty clunky since the seams between the walls, especially the bottom, were distractingly obvious. It was definitely a neat idea and it was executed fairly well. To me, it was more inspiring as a pointer toward the kind of augmented reality experiences we may have in the future.
Eric Weisz
Not worth it for the price of admissions. Electronic exhibit was good but this is far overrated for price
Don Rubin
Somewhat disappointing exhibit of Jane Goodall. Very repetitive content. Probably best for young children. 3D part was fun as well as part where you imitate language.
Seperate exhibit of female photographers work was fabulous
Cana Fass
Awesome King Tut exhibit. Definitely recommend it for kids and adults!!
Mary Wysocki
Really a neat experience. Lots of information and an expert on hand to ask questions.
David Korosec
Great interactive and 3D displays!
Jeannette Wheeler
Featured was a collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts dedicated to the Queens of Egypt. The jewelry, specifically the stunning necklaces that would look beautiful around any modern woman's neck. Even though this museum charges admission, NGS is a worthy recipient. The gift shop had ancient Egyptian jewelry reproductions and I couldn't resist two pair. Take extra time to look at the coffins, the large statues and the cosmetic containers. Some of the paint looks as though it were painted yesterday. The 3-D visual recreation of Nefertiri's tomb was memorable, especially since that's the closest we'll ever get to the real thing.
Katherine Meyer Olson
King Tut Immersive was a wonderful experience.
nyozekii
The Queen of Egypt exhibit was very informative and I enjoyed all the history that was shown. For one of the muesums you have pay to get into while visiting Washington DC, it was pretty cheap ( only $15).
The only reason why I gave Nat Geo a four star instead of five was because no where on their website or brochure did it mention that the Nefertiti bust was a copy. My friend and I were looking forward to seeing it and finding out this information while at the exhibit on the info tab below the bust ruined the experience a bit.
Besides that, a good muesum to visit.
Adam Stolzberg
This place has the coolest events, pictures, stories and adventures around!
Theeradach Noisaeng
Great museum for who love to explore the world and nature. A lot of history about National Geographic group and exhibition around the world. There are two buildings which one is free for visiting and another one, exhibition area, which must pay fee admission (adult 15$).
A L
I was definitely expecting more. Two exhibits a nice park in the middle and a history of national geo aisle... I don't think it was a good value or that I learned anything from the museum. I only liked the history walk. I don't think the 50ft aisle should be the highlight of that sizely museum.
Also the photo booth is terrible, the quality of the photo, the printing and everything is really outdated and you cannot cancel anything once you start an order.
kimberly allen
At first I couldn't think of why to go here, but the Mom wanted to, so ok. It was unique and worthy of 2 hours. A 3D interactive walking video discription about the Tomb Of Christ, maybe more intriguing due to the turmoil there, but the archeology of it was fascinating. Also a great overview of the work that Nat. Geo has done over the years to promote science and biology and oceanography and paleontology, and the photographers and journalists who brought it home. I would go again.
JoAnn Tolle
The exhibits were awesome! We enjoyed every minute there. We were surprised that it wasn't larger. It truly only takes a couple of hours to see the whole museum.
Melissa
A nice museum of a lot of Nat Geo’s photos. There’s some exhibits that detail how the photographs were taken. We only spent an hour in the museum. I was pretty disappointed by the lack of exhibits for the price. I wouldn’t go back or recommend going out of your way to visit.
Peter McGraw
A very informative and wonderful TuT experience.
Binky T
I liked it a lot. I went during the Egyptian Queens exhibit. The cost was not bad. I think I was expecting more than one exhibit especially since National geographic is awesome.
June Gormin
The Christs Tomb Exhibit was incredible. My entire group was perplexed and mesmerized throughout the experience. If you are in DC while this exhibit is open, it is a must see. The way that the technology is utilized perfected the experience and guaranteed that we would come back next time.
Eva Ströberg
What a lovely museum, but already one star less than what it should be a five-star because this museum is so small and has only two main exhibitions and that's that.
When we were there, they had this virtual reality exhibition of Church of The Holy Sepulchre and it was a must experience (thinking that future museum visits would be like that? You wouldn't need to be actually present in that place? A virtual look would do, nevertheless, it was an amazing experience.
The other exhibition was about Titanic, we all know about the great tragedy and this exhibition give you a little bit something more to that, including the discovery of the ship.
If you ever be in Washington DC and if you're an avid subscriber like I am, you should go to this place
Caroline Arcos
We went on family day. The ticket price was $5 a person which is great for all the free activities that was presented on that day. Kids had a blast. It was well organized day by the museum .
D J
The King Tut Exhibit was amazing!!
Ryan Smail
Great exhibits. It was a great place to spend a few hours and enjoy the art.
Margarita Abbey
I visited, May 22, 2019. It was a spur of the moment decision to pass the time waiting for a document being authenticated the Philippine Consulate. I submitted the document at 11:00am but can't pick it up until 3:00p. I didn't want to go home to University Park and come back so I went to check out the National Geographic exhibit. They are currently showing the "Queens of Egypt" It's a very interesting exhibit. I also found out that there was a championship of the Geographic Bee. How I wish I could have joined the audience. National Geographic museum is a great place to visit.
Hung-Wei Chen (Daniel)
i love photography this place have lots of good photo taken by NGO photographer. The exhibit space is not really big but lots of stuff to see. It is well design for kids as well as adults. this is the place you will learn something interesting and new.
Sarah Goff
We went to see the Titanic exhibition but were slightly disappointed in its brevity as well as the marketing having given away all of the interesting points. It is not the best value when comparing to the other museums in town.
Jacek Machnowski Sr
Great exhibit of the Jerusalem sacred site, Tomb of Christ restoration and a virtual 3D walk through as well as the other exhibit, the sinking of Titatnic. Must see for adults and kids... Enjoy!
Allison Dean Love
We are reasonably intelligent people but had trouble with the signage because it says you start in one building, but yet you have to get tickets in the other building before you enter. Then we didn't realize the it's mainly an office building with one exhibit and a gift shop.
Flavio Vettorel
Great place we saw the Women of Egypt exposition and it was very well done and very informative, they also had during this exposition some middle east belly dance performances again very well done. Al in all exactly what you would expect from National Geographic magazine!!
Shoshanna Jiang
Not a great museum... it's very small , there are only two rooms. One room is a rotating exhibit which was "NatGeo Instagram" when I was there. Essentially they just printed out their Instagram photos and made sure to tell you how many likes each photo got. The other exhibit is a kids exhibit which is fun but doesn't tell you much. The best part is the gift shop.
Nicolas Durand
Stunning photos, for free around the main building and in the building behind the museum. The museum itself and temp. exhibits is great but a little pricey once you've been used to the free Smithsonian museums.
Shane
Very friendly staff. Saw King Tut exhibit. Must be slightly rich to buy at the gift shop.
Tyler McComas
A display of treasures from the National Geographic archives. We even got a free movie screening with our ticket!
Jessica
Not exactly what I was expecting but it was an amazing experience and probably one of my favorites while in D.C. I wouldn't quiet call it a museum (or a typical museum) because the permanent section is a bit of a joke but there were two exhibitions that were very interactive, modern, and well done.
Robert Lyons
An absolutely lovely museum experience perfect for filling up one's morning or afternoon. Don't forget to visit their other building across the courtyard to see their exhibit on the history of National Geographic.
Rimpi Singh
You need only few hours to spend here but the exhibit was out of this world. It was so real that there were times when everybody sat down, just because we felt that we will fall down. Amazing experience.
Christopher Martin
To be honest, I was disappointed. Knowing how large NG is, I was expecting a much larger museum with many more exhibits and history of the organisation. However only one of two exhibit halls were open and the space available to the public was small. There is a large shop though!
Jenny Casper
The Tomb of Christ was very well made but some of the videos after the movie were on a timer and wouldn't play right away so I'd have to wait several minutes. The Titanic was also well made and some of the exhibits were amazing but this topic has been well documented and I was a bit bored. The whole submarine coverup just wasn't enough to entice me to be interested. My teenage children said the same thing about the Titanic. Now that I know NatGeo exists I will be back for the next exhibit.
