Reviews of The Gateway Arch

It's cool to see. I don't know that I'd need to do it more than once. Buy tickets in advance. You can also check the website around 900a and see if they are any available tickets. I checked and got a ticket for the same day. You have to go through security as it's a national landmark. They have a museum area after that and other setups to learn about the arch and its history, there is a gift shop and cafe inside. Line up at your time... there aren't many people lining up until about 4-5 min prior to the scheduled time. You stand in line for a while before you get to go back. There really isn't a benefit because you get assigned a group 1 through 9. You sit with your group in the pod up and down...maximum of 5 people

Wonderful experience! It was cool driving through town and seeing the arch get bigger and bigger as we got closer. Then to be standing under it was amazing. The view from the top and museum were fabulous. The tram ride was faster than expected. We’ll worth the time and Money!

Well done National Park Service! I bought tickets online about a month ahead of time. I was able to have the tickets on my phone. We arrived about 30 to 45 minutes ahead of our tour time to allow for the security check. At the appointed time we were directed through the tour. The tour guides were courteous and very helpful answering questions. The views from the top are spectacular and for me, well worth the price of admission. The ride up and down is a little bumpy and the pod is a little claustrophobic, but should be no problem for most people. There is a historical museum after entry and before or after the tour that is worth a walk through. There is a concession stand of sorts as well as a souvenir shop. Overall, a great experience!

Absolutely breath taking, from the time you enter the city until you leave the park. First time visiting the arch and I have to say it was stunning. The journey to the top was amazing. After the tour we went to the movie and then on the boat tour. What a great vacation destination. The history in this city is amazing and so inspiring.

Super cool experience! The pods in the tram are tiny but we got to ride in one ourselves, so nice to not have to sit in one with strangers. The door is glass which is awesome as you can view what the inside of the Arch looks like on your ride up and down. 4 min up, 3 min down. Husband is claustrophobic but was OK on the ride! Time at the top is short but plenty of time to take pictures of just look and enjoy the view. Our group was only about 11 people total so not crowded at the windows at all. The museum is interesting with lots to read. Cafe was expensive but food was OK. Tour guide for the tram was upbeat and friendly. The Arch was definitely the highlight to our trip to St.Louis! And the small state park surrounding the structure was nice as well.

Seeing the Gateway Arch up close and personal on the outside is cool, but, if you're not claustrophobic or afraid of heights, I'd highly recommend you go up on the tram. Your guide will give you a brief history of the monument and lead you to your tram that will take you to the top. Definitely worth it. Very cool views and it's a fun thing to say that you did🙂
Tips:
1) Buy your tickets online ahead of time. You need to reserve a time slot to go on the tram and times can fill up fast during peak times. I booked three weeks in advance and about half the slots were already filled. It doesn't matter whether you take the North or South tram. They both take you to the top of the arch.
2) You only get 10 min when you get to the top so make the most of it.
3) The video in the Tucker Theater about the building of the arch was interesting. It's not very expensive and I thought it was worth it. Not super engaging for young kids (<6 years old) but it was neat to see the process of how it was built and all the engineering that went behind it. Buy your tickets ahead of time if you decide to go. The video lasts about 25-30 minutes.
4) There is a lot of parking nearby in different lot. I used ParkWhiz and got parking ahead of time cheaper than just pulling into a garage or lot.

I had never really wanted to visit the Arch but I thought I'd give it a go and I was pleasantly surprised. A beautiful museum to see before you have to purchase anything at all. Definitely go to the top of the arch. Amazing views. And if you get there at noon you can see the shadow perfect between the two legs of the Arch!!!

We traveled from Western NY to visit the Arch. As a social studies teacher, I was ultra impressed with the FREE museum inside. I loved how it told the story chronologically and had real artifacts, short videos, and well done displays. I wish I had more time to read everything. My younger children did enjoy the museum but were not as interested as I was at reading everything.
We were able to visit some of the museum before our Tram to the top and the left hand side after our tram ride.
The TRAM ride was great, if you are uncomfortable in small spaces, it may be difficult for you. It was just my two kids and myself inside our tram car so it was not too bad. When we reached the top, we were able to take some photos and look out the windows. I did feel rushed, we were up there less than 10 minutes and had to leave for the next group.
We did also watch the video in the theatre. Looking back, I would have watched the video before my tram ride, I think my kids would have appreciated being on top more if we had. The video is a little dated, but the information in the video is great.
We also ate at the snack bar for lunch, the food was good, a little pricey but that is to be expected. All the workers were super friendly.
I loved the gift shop, I felt there was a wide variety of souvenirs to pick from.
We did purchase our tickets weeks before our trip.

The smallest National Park but the tallest monument in America. The best way to spend an afternoon while visiting St Louis. The museum and ride to the top are two experiences everyone should have once on their lifetime. Great bucket list item. So much fun and the history is inspiring. The 35 min video on making the Arch is breathtaking and a marvel of unique engineering. Make a road trip and visit. You wont be disappointed.

Should be on the to-do list for everybody visiting St Louis. The Arch itself is huge and you can go up all to the top. Tour guide Sandy was awesome and very funny. The museum is just as impressive as the Arch itself. The history and development of St Louis is clearly explained. Well done. Museum itself is very clean and modern.
Brian Harper
If you're in St. Louis you have to visit the arch. I'm a local and have been 3 times and it never disappoints. Our last trip was my daughter's first trip to the top and she was impressed. The tram ride to the top seems much faster than I remember as a kid. If you carry a current cellphone like everyone does you can get some great pictures from the top. There are very nice views of Busch Stadium as well as the river and much of downtown. The museum underground is also nice and very informative. There's also a lot of little restaurants around the area so make an afternoon of it.
Matthew Alsup
What can you say that isn't already widely known? Not sure, but here it goes...😅. Cool place, really awesome greenspace under the Arch for cool pictures. Hard to fit the entire structure in the frame but it can be done if standing a little back from either leg. The ride up is worth it also, just to say you did and get that life task off the to do list. Most of the hour+ window is spent waiting in different little pens, and about 20 minutes is up top combined with up and down on the tram. Trams going up and down are pretty dang tiny but that's part of the experience as is the sketchiness, knowing they have been in operation since the beginning. Of course the view of St Louis is spectacular, East St Louis, not so much. Didn't have too much time for the museum down below but it looked pretty awesome and well put together. Saved for another time. So, go check it out. Totally worth it and you get to take some super cool pictures to boot. 😎

Amazing experience! Come to visit if you are at St. Louis. They museum is free and you can bring your kids to learn about the history and knowledge behind this amazing historical architecture. If you want to take the tram up to the top, please book the tickets ahead. I would recommend you make the experience up, because it was so cool and so unique.
Ed Dombrowski
We hadn’t been to the Arch in about ten years. There have been a lot of upgrades since our last visit. It is always a fun trip and being down by the river front there is a nice breeze. The Tram ride is worth the expense. You have to do it at least once. The views are great and it is truly a unique experience. That being said the capsules for the tram are very tight so if you are claustrophobic you might want to pass. The ride is four minutes up and three minutes down and you get about eight minutes up top. Plan ahead. When we came a decade ago we just walked up and got tickets. I don’t know what it is like on week days but on the weekend buy your tickets online in advance.

Recently visited St. Louis for three days earlier this week to visit a friend and we both went to the Bruins-Blues game (Bruins won thankfully 😎😉😎)
Knew I had to visit the Arch while there since it’s the iconic tourist attraction in St. Louis and it did not disappoint! I initially thought only the park existed but then went to the free public museum which had fantastic exhibits telling the entire history of St. Louis, being a history buff I was like a kid in a candy store! I will be definitely come back if I’m there in the future!

The views from the top are spectacular and for me, well worth the price of admission. The ride up and down is a little bumpy and the pod is a little claustrophobic, but should be no problem for most people. Beautiful monument and grounds. It gets crowded and the tram ride to the top is not for the feint of heart. I am still glad I rode it. The museum is really nice and interactive and free. There are a lot of nice places to relax and enjoy. Worth a visit.
Megan Job
Really neat experience. The museum has lots of artifacts and replicas that creates an immersive experience. The tram ride to the top is a MUST DO. The ten minutes at the top is more than enough time to see the view and snap all the pictures you could want. Really nice paved walk around the arch and steps down to the water.
Mark Faur
Park employees are very nice. Did not have much time and went directly up. No lines or anything as it was mid day on school day. View towards IL is kind of spooky, industrial, overall looks great for January. Trip up and down with the “elevator” was the most exciting part of our visit :)
Maddison Zetterberg
I was definitely of the camp "Gateway Arch should be a national monument not a park" before I came here. HOWEVER I've switched to the other side after having seen it for myself! The Gateway Arch and museum is more than just a statue, it represents all of westward expansion! Now I see the park more as a gateway park to all parks west of it (no pun intended.) The museum really is incredible, not to mention the structure itself. Everyone is friendly and helpful as well. If you're in St. Louis it's worth checking out!
Lori Jean Kveragas
Very hot day. Not much shade there. To enter the museum/shop/educational center you must go through check points like airport. I had mace with me because my car was pretty far off along water for 10. 00 parking and wanted to feel safe walking back later. I had to return to my car to enter the underground building where everything but the arch is. Even to take tram up you must go through clearance. No knifes, no mace, guns, etc...
But...it was incredible. Including the museum and even the shop.
They have a Cafe down there too. Very clean. I saw a movie theater but I missed last movie since I had to walk back to my car lol.
Evgeniya Bozhko (KoriAndrTheCat)
We visited this monuments because it is the symbol of St. Louis, and it would be weird to drive through the city and not see this monument. It looks beautiful and grandiose, especially with all the bridges and the River around. The park around is also quite nice.
Ashish Mainali
Great place to walk, run and understand the history of the place. The museum is open to all FREE OF COST.
The museum depicts a historic timeline approach from the 1700s all the way to how arch was formed.
There is cafe and gift shop located inside.
The cafe has some great coffee and snacks.
Overall a great experience. Recommended Visit.
Mandy Parker
This is a really fun experience with an excellent museum before entry. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and funny. The only reason I am not giving this 5 stars is because we were looking at grabbing a quick bite at the snack/restaurant area before our tram ride. It was not immediately obvious the grill was closed, and the gal was not very friendly about informing us. All in all, I highly recommend this tour!
Nick Hidalgo
Nice to finally come back to visit two decades later! Came here as a kid and now I get to share it with my children. Helpful employees, quick security checkpoint and nice museum under the arch. *Make sure to get tickets in advance because it gets busy and you only have limited time at the top*
Lila Navarro
This is such a beautiful place a must do. Make sure you get the combo which includes the arch ride, boat ride and movie. There a lot of beautiful viewing up on the arch with tons of pictures opportunities. In addition, walk around in the museum it’s so informative about the area.
Eva Milstein-Touesnard
This was cool to go up and the museum was pretty good. You could tell they displays we’re trying to acknowledge the screwed up history of colonialism (after all it was built to célèbrent expansion west) but I think they could have had even more focus on that. Going up the arch was really cool but personally I got bored by the talking and just want to ride up to the top.
Duke Berkshire
Wow, very cool. Make sure you attend the movie “Monument to the Dream” if you want to learn about the construction of the Arch. The museum at the base of the arch takes you through the history of St. Louis. The Arch tram is unique and interesting and the view from the top of the arch is fantastic. This is an absolute must for anyone visiting St. Louis.
James Hall
We had a great visit. Friendly and legitimately helpful staff. The facility is pretty cool. The museum was what you might expect but some of the construction info was really neat. Nice little gift shop and cafe. The ride to the top is very simple if you’re questioning it. Breath and distract yourself for 4 min. I big deal. Great views at the top. Oddly with such small windows it’s got an artificial feel so not sure the height would really bother most people. I’d recommend the whole thing. Parking is best at the arch lot a couple of blocks away for $9
Tammy Wylie
Take the tram to the top if you can!
There are lots of steps (6 flights total) and a big step up into the tram car. No elevator, no way to the tram but stairs.
But when you get to the top, you are actually walking across the curve! You get to spend about 10 minutes the top and can see for miles!
See the movie and visit the museum. You will learn so much and appreciate how much danger and expertise was involved in the construction.
Definitely worth a visit. If you have your America the Beautiful pass you get a discount for everyone in your group!
Hannah Levi
The 4 minute ride to the top e eruone talks about as scary, but for me ... I was worked up some about all the reviews but going up was fine for me. There's a little window to view the technology of how it all works. The top was absolutely amazing! Views were stunning! Make sure you look fir the arches shadow! I found that amazing.
Marty
This is the smallest national park I’ve ever been to but it’s still a great way to kill an hour or two! Even without paying the $16 per person fee, it still was a super fun time for very cheap! It was great to walk around the park, see the river, and go to the free museum! The only bad part was parking, maybe it was just the time we were here but finding parking was extremely difficult. Once you find parking, it is very easy to navigate!
Alex Kolkena
The Arch is huge! Fun to look at. It's right by downtown St. Louis. The park is neat: it's a giant lawn you can walk around and the mighty Mississippi is right there too. Research parking before you come here (I would recommend coming on the weekend!)
Ashley Varacalli
No where to park unless you want to spend $20-$40 for parking that day! The arch was absolutely amazing though! It is well maintained and not trashy at all! We were able to bring the dog to walk around but pets aren’t allowed inside the main building. Also you have to buy tickets which are around $40 a person and then be placed in a queue to go up into the arch. They only let a certain amount of people each hour so you can be in the queue for quite some time. We enjoyed walking around and laying in the grass to see the arch! We may buy tickets to go up the arch in advance if we are in St Louis again!
Dustin Phillips
Amazing experience for all ages! The Gateway Arch and the surrounding NP is truly a magical place to stroll around.
The museum at the bottom and food/coffee options are incredible and if you're brave enough, a trip to the top!
Do not understand the magnificence of GANP and St. Louis!
David Petty
The gateway to the west and shrine to America's westward expansion. With a free museum and affordable rides to the top - this is a must-see for anyone visiting St. Louis.
The museum is a healthy and balanced history lesson. Showing the brave pioneers and hardworking entrepreneurs that built this country while also giving voice to those who's lives were upended by it.
The view from the top is second to none-literally: Gateway Arch is the largest Man-made monument in the United States.
Vickie Musni
Have always loved coming here since I was a kid. Very disappointed that there were no later evening/nighttime options available. I realize we have been in a pandemic but it was sad to spend that much money and have about ten minutes at the top. I miss the days when I could watch the sunset and see the lights come on, especially on game days.
The renovations are nice and things seemed clean for the most part…just that every hand sanitizer station we tried was completely empty.
Renārs Ozoliņš
Beautiful monument. A definite must when visiting Saint Louis. The majestic size and the outstanding architecture grabs attention. It’s really nice that you can take a tram to get up there. It costs $17, but totally worth it.
Recommended!

Every time I've been to St Louis, I've only ever driven by the Arch. This time I was visiting with a friend from the West coast and we decided to see it up close! It's beautiful. We also walked through the free museum and went to the top! If you are claustrophobic or afraid of heights it's probably not for you. The ride up is a little freaky but totally worth it in my opinion for such a cool experience. It's so weird to imagine yourself in a giant arch, and the engineering is just such an amazing feat. Me and my friend really enjoyed the experience and got some cool pictures too. The museum was fun to walk through and was a lot bigger than I expected! The staff was also super friendly as well. Definitely worth seeing this thing up close instead of just driving by if you get the chance.
Brett Heppler
Soaring above the city with such an amazing view, I’d recommend it’s something everyone should do! We picked a weekday to avoid the crowds, and then up we went to almost touch the clouds! Get your tickets and go explore the Gateway to the West, also tour the museum as well, you’ll surely be impressed!
Mark Nevils
The facility and program to experience the Arch are modern and informative, though oriented around the past and our integrated history. It lacks the natural history the old exhibit offered as I remember it from my youth, but it’s a wonderful experience nonetheless that my family of 4 (kids 18 months, 4.5 yrs) enjoyed thoroughly.
Secily McConnell
First time visiting and it was a neat experience! They have a Cafe, Gift Shop, and little history museum once inside before getting on the tram. Definitely would skip if you're claustrophobic since you take a small 5 person tram to the top and once at the top you don't have much room to move around. The views were very cool for being over 600ft up! I'd say it's worth doing at least once 🙂
Debbie cruz
Pretty neat experience. We booked online ahead so no wait. They accommodated our larger party easily. The little pods in which you ride to the top are quite small... Accommodate up to 5 people but I was glad we only had 4 average sized folks in ours! The views from the top are great. Gift shop had a large selection of fun souvenirs. We didn't spend a lot of time in the museum but it looked well presented.
Sarah P
This was an amazing experience!! If ya get a chance this is a must go! 10 minutes at the top doesn't seem like much, but you will feel why 10 minutes at the top is plenty!! It's absolutely the most stunning views you will see of the area!!
Christi Koch
Fun family experience and not too expensive. The tram ride is fun. We had a pretty funny tour guide who had the whole group laughing. If you don't want to go up there is a museum you can look walk through that gives you a lot of history on the project.
Austin F
A great place to visit. While it was pouring rain and we didn’t want to get out of the car and get soaked, the sight of the Gateway Arch is astounding. It is absolutely MASSIVE, even driving by on Fourth Street. It’s easily visible on the far edge of the city before you even reach the city limit. The next time we’re in town we’ll be sure to stop in and take the ride up to the top and do some sightseeing.
RICHARD HERNANDEZ
A wonderful adventure to yesteryear.
It's more than a bargain. Staff is knowledgeable and super friendly.
Museum I filled with incredible history. And the tram is a great ride leading to that picture perfect scenery.
Hugo Castro
Have to say pleasantly surprised. The Gateway Arch is truly an engineering marvel. Had no idea you can go up the arch to the top and view the city and the mighty Mississippi River. It is daunting in the small tram you go up in fits 5 people. But amazed takes only 4 minutes to go up and 3 minutes to go down. Our family enjoyed the monument and visiting the museum inside underground. Truly a must to go visit and go up and enjoy. But if your cluster phonic do not go might not be for you the tram is small. The experience was memorable for my family!
Cory B.
Been by this place several times and we finally stop to check it out. Well worth the visit! A nice museum on the inside and the gift shop has something for everyone. I would suggest making online reservations in advance if you want to go up inside the arch!
Jerry Morales
It was nice up there. Take a ride to the top and see the city. Price is affordable took my nephew and we had a great time. Would definitely recommend it if you're not afraid of heights and claustrophobic.
James Welsh
A must-see while in St. Louis. Amazing views up top and back down on the renovated grounds (since we here last in 2008) all the around. They did a really good job on the museum as well, so much so that both are young kids were also very interested in all the exhibits. Great sights, an amazing structure, go alone or with the family, and take it all in. Jan 2022
Scott Mann
Loved this place. I was on the fence about taking the tram to the top but so glad I did. The tram ride doesn't last long but the overall process is about 45 minutes. There are rangers there to answer questions and you have a great view. It was rainy when we were there but still had a decent view from up top.
Sharon Claassen
This is a nice urban park. There is a lot of green space. We went in the spring when the trees were budding. It is worth a trip up the arch and get a bird’s eye view of St. Louis. Be sure to buy tickets in advance for going up the arch. There is a museum below the arch, which shows a history of the city. It also explains the engineering behind the arch and how the tram up the arch works. I included a picture of one the tram pods. The cafe has good food.
to cool
You have to see the arch for yourself to really understand how awesome it is. For your best experience go early like 8am or at least around that time so that you can get tickets to go to the top of the arch. Later in the day the tickets will be sold out and you will not be able to go up the elevators to see out the windows at the top.
Kelsey Schultz
The Gateway Arch is a must-do activity when in the St. Louis area. I grew up just 30 minutes from the Arch and have visited the grounds several times and been up in the Arch maybe 5-7 times. It never disappoints. I loved the old museum, but the new one (since the grounds were established a national park back in 2018) is exceptional. It has many modern features, fun-to-read info, scaled replicas, and valuable history and artifacts. The entire landscape was redone recently as well. The view from the top is unlike any other in the area-giving a unique view of the Mississippi River, the old courthouse, and multiple surrounding cities.
If you are a America the Beautiful card pass holder, discounted tram (needed to get to the top) tickets are available. Entry to museum is free. There is a great giftshop (where you can get your NP passport stamped) and a café.
The grounds are great for picnicking. The green lawn is like a city oasis.
QL QL
The national park is at downtown so hard to find parking. The street parking is free on Sundays. It's crowded and lots of visitors everyday. The rides cost money but the museum is free. The indoor still requires masks 2.5 years after. The place is iconic so you have to be there once.
Kiley Weber
A gorgeous national park. It’s anywhere between $13-19 to take a tram ride to the top and it’s worth it to at least go once! The time is limited at the top now and takes about 5 mins to go up and roughly the same time down. The arch has a huge grassy area where you can have a picnic or just relax and enjoy the views. Parking isn’t easy so if you can walk there it’s ideal. Go inside see the free museum and check out their gift shop too!
Kris Herring
The arch was pretty incredible, it's so much bigger than I ever expected. We went to it late at night and during the day. You can ride a small train type thing to the top too, we didn't get to because it was going to be like 45 min till the next one ran.
Dilan Herath
The ride up was pretty fun. You can a glass viewing of the INSIDE of the arch, not the outside. Once you get to the top there are small slits to view the skylines. It was raining so the view was mediocre.
The museum at the bottom is wonderful with information about the arch and St. Louis settler history.
Adam Newbold
More interesting than you'd expect. The Arch area is great for a visit when you're in the area. Be sure to visit the free museum underneath the Arch. Note that the entrance to the whole venue is not at either end of the "legs." It's more towards the middle.
Nice gift shops. Good things to do here even if you don't go up the Arch itself.
Paul R
An amazing site to see and a must stop for an road trip or if your in the area. The trip to the top is worth the cost. The museum is also great with a lot of info that filled in the time while we waited for our time to head up. The ride up to the top has time slots that you register for. During your time you go wait in line to head up. Then is a quick 4 minute ride up and you get some great views of the surrounding g area.
Patty Spear
A truly unique experience 630 feet up! Very small sitting space in the tram that takes you to the top for large guests! It's certainly not for those that cannot handle small, encapsulated spaces. The view from the top was awesome. Great memory, worth the time and $
N Flamer
Wow!! What an amazing visit beautiful museum underneath the arch and the best views of St Louis you will ever find!!
$17- 4 min to up, 3 min. Back down. Short but very very claustrophobic tram ride to the top..
Good quick serve Cafe, nice reasonable gift shop, and best of all beautiful museum underneath the base of the arch.
Park Rangers are nice, knowledge and helpful. Place is immaculate very welcome and tons of information about our country's great history.
Kayla (kaylalala)
It's an amazing experience getting to see St Louis from the top of the arch! The museum is great, but the best part is definitely the view from the top! It's a 4-minute ride up, 10 minutes at the observation area at the top, and a 3-minute ride down.
Karen Musgrove-Sykes
Awesome !
Perfect overcast ☁️ day, mid 80's, not too crowded, but buzy. Masks are required in the Arch area as it is a Federal Building. If you are into history, there is a lot to take in.
Enjoy. We did !
Tracy Riebeling
We had a perfect day. No wind and they were very accommodating with the scooter we had. They had a museum and store inside and even a place to eat. The rides up were very comfortable and they explained everything that would happen. The views were incredible.
Hilary Ring
Wow. The Arch is amazing. At the base is a wonderful museum about Westward Expansion, the building of the Arch and St Louis. The museum does a good job explaining the difficulty in building the Arch, and the accompanying movie is worthwhile too. The tram ride up to the top is fun and quite an engineering feat on its own. The view from the top is fine, but the really interesting part of the visit is at the base of the Arch and in the museum below.
Lauren Roy (Rose)
Nice facility! Entry was free. They have a very informative museum, lots of
“ranger talks” throughout the day. The tram ride was $17 and I was able to get a ticket 45 minutes before the next tram. There is also a gift shop and cafe.
Prathama Parab
They have different prices for different days. You can buy combo tickets or just tickets to the tram. There are two trams, north and south. We noticed that the north tram tickets were available well in advance and the south tram tickets opened for the current day at 9am when the park opens. You get 8mins at the top and you travel back with the same set of people in the elevator. Nice views for day with clear skies.

Outstanding!! Well worth going up. Amazing views from the top, the ride up is comfortable and surprisingly pretty quick. If you’re in town, a must do…..
Had a combined ticket with the river cruise, I know which one I would do again & it wouldn’t be on the river!!
If you have time the visitor centre below is very good.
Eric
I visited with friends. Due to time, I didn't take the tram up bit I did visit the museum below. Very clean, very well designed, and lots to learn about the city and its people. Of course, you'll learn about the Arch itself! But the town is so rich in history, you are likely to learn something about St. Louis even is you live here.
Robert
Very lovely. There is parking down on the levee, for $10 and then you walk right up the stairs and you're in the monument area. Reserve a tram ahead of time if you wish to go up to the top, walk-ins have very little luck. There is a museum below, underground, the Arch, which has very interesting exhibits about the area, the development of the region, and the production of the Arch, so go a bit early before your Tram appointment so you can enjoy that!
Lydia Nelson
Free museum and lots, lots to see and read. Dogs the movie and learned history of building arch. Gave my son and I a much bigger appreciation of the magnitude of how it was constructed. Tickets to to were sold out for tram to top but still really neat to go there!
Sophia Hoiseth
It was cool. The staff was all really helpful. The trolley ride up is a bit claustrophobic so if you don’t like small spaces I’d say skip it. But it’s a cool piece of history and it’s really cool to be inside of it!
Micah Walters
Beautiful park along the riverfront. Parking is completely free. We didn’t go up the arch, but still enjoyed our time walking around and taking it the views. Definitely worth the stop.
Rakim 7
You can see the Arch from just about anywhere but it doesn't compare until you visit it. Surrounded by a nice park and riverfront, it's a must see! The museum is filled with information and interactive exhibits. A gift shop and eat spot are inside the museum as well. It cost nothing to journey through the museum. I highly recommend going to the top of the Arch (it does cost).. seeing what the Arch has to offer was well worth the time and money!
Ali
Neat landmark to check out. Trail around the area. Guided tours available. Museum nearby to learn more on the history. Parking was close by. Clean park. Not too crowded when we visited but I assume it does get crowded considering it’s a popular tourist spot. It was very cool to see in person, I didn’t expect it to be that tall or nice looking. Not much for scenery around the arch besides the arch itself though. Fun experience overall and would highly recommend checking this landmark out.
H D
Must do when if St Louise, it was a short walk from where we stayed. Beautiful architecture, lots of history. You can take the tram to go up for grabs views but we opted out as I'm claustrophobic. We did go down to see the museum, gift shop and grabbed a snack at the cafe. Expect to go through a Security check before you can enter. I promise you will be taking lots and lots of pics from several different angles to capture this amazing architecture.
Gayle Anderson
I didn't know what to expect because I'm afraid of heights but it was great! You're inside a container that keeps you level as you ascend to the top. The view is amazing! I would definitely do it again if I ever get back to St. Louis!
kingsley anyaso
The reservations to go up the arch and cruise was full for the day we went so we settled for going round the area and visiting the museum. Loved the content in the museum especially the stories told. Looking forward to visiting again and hopefully going up the arch
Mike Kunz
Very educational and interactive museum. Highly recommend for young and old. Some stairs to climb but easy to get around otherwise. You could spend an entire day just reading about history and the exhibits. Be sure to take the tram to the top of the arch!
Dark Knight
Nice clean park. You can get over a mile of walking just looking at the park. It wasn’t too busy on the day I went there. I didn’t get a chance to ride the tram because it was sold out.
Cassidy Srock
I always enjoy visiting the Arch. This was the first time we took our 8 year old daughter. We didn't go up in it because the very idea freaked her out.
She liked the Arch itself and the faux observation deck inside where you could see what you were able to see from the top. She wasn't thrilled with the museum part but it was late in the day. I thought it was really cool.
The first half of the building that was just empty was incredibly creepy. Especially because some of the lights were flickering and it was very clean and polished.
The main reason I'm taking off a star is the $10 parking. We parked our Chevy on the Levee and while it was dry it's not a great place to park a compact car because it's made out of these really great BIG old bricks that are worn down and they have you park so that you're either climbing out of your car or falling out depending on which side you're on.
It did make a great visual gag though.

Everyone knows about this iconic landmark but if you have never seen it in person you don’t realize how epic this monument truly is. To start its massive, hard to believe this thing was built in the 60’s, but standing next to it makes you really appreciate its true beauty and innovation. The underground museum is also very nice. The tram that takes you to the top is a unique experience, climbing into the retro futuristic capsule and riding it to the top was so fun (I would avoid it if your claustrophobic). At the top the views are great and make you feel like your hanging looking down from the top of the arch, might be tough for people afraid of heights. This was one of my favorite parts of St. Louis.
Steve Koz
It was a great experience! We went on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't too crowded. We had plenty of time to explore the museum and then get on the tram and go up to the top of the arch. The tram cars are a bit small and they try to pack as many people in as they can but I lucked out and got a ride up with just the 2 of us. We got to the top and we were given 10 mulinutes to take pics and look out the windows but the 10 minutes was more than enough time. It was a weird sensation to feel the arch sway from the wind as we were standing in the observation deck. Then we were loaded back onto the tram and sent back down. We checked out the gift shop and then went outside and explored the grounds and the riverfront.
Mike Stecher
The arch is very impressive. The 8 minutes allowed at the top was very disappointing. It barely leaves enough time for a glance out each side and a family photo before descending. Allowing people to spend 15 minutes would be much more appropriate. The cost is exorbitant for such a short time. It is very disappointing the National park service has enacted this rule and blamed Covid for it. Waiting in line and riding the elevator are a much higher Covid risk than spending an extra few minutes at the top. Especially with masks again required for everyone. Outside of that, it is a fun visit. Just very expensive for a few minutes
David
Fun time for the whole family. Masks are required as of mid-July. Ride to the top is about four minutes proceeded by around 5 minutes to look through the top and then 3 minutes back down. The view at the top is STUNNING. The compartment to go up and down is relatively constricting, but it can suit five people. There is a free museum to enjoy while you wait for your time. We bought tickets in advance through the website and had no issues. The gift shop is expansive with many great items. There is also a restaurant inside. Very enjoyable experience overall!
Stephen Asbury
Free museum exploring the area and the origins and history of The Arch. $17-19 dollars (depending upon date) gets a timed slot to ride in a capsule up to the top. The cubicles are a touch small, but the ride is short (4mins up, 3 mins down) and the views unforgettable.
I bought an Arch souvenir made from the recently replaced lift cables. I thought it was the perfect memento.
Surely the top attraction in St. Louis. Highly recommended.
Quin Regnerus
Had a wonderful experience earlier this month at The Gateway Arch. We walked through the museum with our group and received a very informative tour. We went to the top and the view was breathtaking! Overall a must see if you plan to visit St. Louis. Also very clean!
Eric Twiest
Kids loved our visit to gateway arch - smooth ride up and down and amazing views at the top in all you get to spend about 20 or so minutes at top until next group rides up and you ride down. Make sure to pre-buy parking online to get the flat discounted rate - we came on day of a Cardinals baseball game and if you hadn't you would have had to pay $30 to park which is the baseball game rate.
Stephen Mitchell
Pay $10 to park. Walk up the steps and go around to the entrance. There's no fee to enter and explore the museum, restaurant and gift shop. Make reservations to go up the arch. Once you get past the security checkpoint you'll have access to the entire museum full of detailed Midwestern American History as well as history behind the Gateway Arch itself. Restrooms available. Handicap accessible.
Irie Lott
Definitely an experience to enjoy when you're in St Louis. The park and green space around the arch provides a very pretty setting with room to roam, picnic, fly kites, or just stroll. The ride to the top of the arch is a seat inside a very small, enclosed elevator with up to four other people. It takes 4 minutes to get to the top.
Samuel Watson
Great national park conveniently located right off the highway in downtown St. Louis. There are several parking options available nearby, some are paid lots ($10-20) for the day, and there is limited street parking as well. The arch does have tours that take you to the top for approximately $20/person. There is also the opportunity to do a riverboat cruise. I recommend grabbing tickets in advance
Alexandra Sasha Malcolmson
Beautifully- renovated welcome center and museum. Parked in East Stadium garage very easily with the iParkit app. We ordered our tickets in advance online and getting in and passed security was a breeze. Be sure to ask for a Junior ranger booklet from the visitor desk! Museum is broken into sections chronologically. The riverfront exhibit with the diorama was especially interesting and informative.
The tram ride was a unique experience. There was some assistance for guests with mobility challenges, which is nice to see. The tram cars are tiny. I’d you don’t know the person you’re riding with, you will be the time you get down. The actual viewing port of the arch is small but with a very expansive view.
The “monument to a dream” film was very interesting and worth the extra ticket, but skip the riverboat. It’s crowded, hot, difficult to see anything unless you happen to be on the right side of the boat at any given time. The guide narrating the riverboat tour was interesting and engaging, but it was still a pretty bad experience since you couldn’t see what he was talking about and it was sometimes difficult to hear him.
Jacob
Lived in Missouri my whole life just now made it to the arch. It’s an architectural miracle. Only thing that I didn’t like is if it rains most of the glass has moisture and you can’t see out of some of them. The staff is friendly. The train cars aren’t very big so be prepared to be in tight space. If your scared of heights don’t look out the train door window for sure.
Muhammad Adeel Anjum
The Gateway Arch is an amazing monument that’s built in 1965.
Worth seeing visit at top of arch the view of city from 630’ top is fascinating and splendid. You will enjoy it.
Divya Tatiraju
The Gateway Arch is an imposing monument, worth the visit. The grounds are really nice to walk around, great for kids or pets, there's a small lake and a waterfront restaurant. There's also a helicopter sightseeing company that does short tours. The entrance to the monument is somewhat hidden, look for the arrows painted in the paved paths that show the way, from a distance, it looks like it's hidden below a grassy slope. There's a gift store, restaurant and the Gateway museum which showcases some pretty cool artifacts. If you'd like to take the tram ride to the top of the arch, book tickets in advance.
Kiet TT
I love the architecture of this. Beautiful manmade landmark to see. You can actually go inside to take a tram ride up to the top of the Arch and enjoy the views from the windows at the top. Now checked off of my bucket list 5/5 stars.
Dylan Walter
Engineering and architectural marvel - the museum does a good job putting the scale of the project into perspective. The museum also heavily features native cultures and stories, making sure to condemn the whitewashed narrative that Hollywood and History books have some of us believing. A must see National Park!!
Ed Deutsch
Awesome!! Had a blast. The park ranger was very knowledgeable and super friendly. The cars going is 4foot door and very cramped. When you get to the top worth it
Chin Zhi Hui
I arrived at the gateway arch on a winter weekday lunchtime and i managed to get the view to the top all to myself! that said, it offers panoramic views of the city as well as the east STL side. you go through the westwards museum, a simple quiz by the tour, and then take the furnicular to the top. it's really big and expansive and I only appreciated the scale when I was there.
Paul Blair
St.Louis Arch - The Gateway Arch was pretty incredible. Of course the Arch itself. But there is a Very large park with open green spaces for picnics, dog walking, frisbee w friends, photo adventures and more. A very fascinating and FREE underground museum. Tram rides to the top of the arch. All just a block from Downtown St.Louis, The River, and Illinois is just across the bridge. Only a few minutes drive to Busch Stadium and Union Station. If you get hungry/thirsty, walk on down to The Lou.
Hope you enjoy the pics!
Obey Wann
Well worth it!
Reserve your spot ahead of time but give yourself an hour or more for the museum before your ticket time.
Exhibits were top-notch. The tram ride was fascinating. Very small, not recommended for bigger people. We had 4 "fluffy" people, and it was snug. ;) Beware if you are claustrophobic. 5 people would be snug.
The time up top was just enough, but not too long. Not rushed.
The views were outstanding. Creepy, if you have a fear of heights.
NPS knocked it out of the park. Staff was excellent, as were all of the displays.
The snack shop was reasonably priced, as was the gift shop.
I can't speak to parkimg, we parked at our hotel. Definitely do your research. The website was well-designed.
This was a great tour, worth the $. We also enjoyed the 1-hour paddle boat tour, it made a good book-end to the arch.
Sharonda Davenport
It's so beautiful. I got to go up inside twice and the view is breath taking. My favorite activity is walking around the park and taking pictures
TheLeakingGenius
Best thing in St. Louis I suppose. Went here with a few friends and definitely didn't occur to me that you could go up to the top of this thing before visiting! So of course we did that. You ride up in a little egg and there is a great little viewing area to look out a handful of windows and see St. Louis in... all its glory.. if that's how one would want to describe it. Can't say that I would, but to each their own. Anyways, the arch itself was a pretty cool experience so if you happen to find yourself in St. Louis why not go here, it's probably the coolest tourist attraction going on.
Noah Bielby
While it may be the smallest National Park in the country, it is incredibly informative and is a great learning experience. Lacledes landing is a beautiful area to explore. The museum under the arch is free. You do have to get through security to enter the museum. Make sure you check the museums website before you walk in. The tickets to get to the top sell out quickly, especially on the weekends. The tickets to get a tram to the top of the arch does cost money but the views of the city is worth it.
Bryce Garner
A marvel of modern engineering and architecture. There is a great museum in the base. Take the tram to the top to see the view from 630 feet.
Lawrence Q Hu
What can I say? When the man who said, "let's put a gargantuan, metal, upside down 'u' right on the river" and made it happen, one of the most iconic sculptures in the world came into being. Is it cool? Yeah. Does it get boring? Sometimes.
You can always say, "ope, there's the arch" as you drive thorough downtown. This actually gives the arch its power to make the weather in STL an absolute randomized nightmare.
Great place for photos, walks, and to look at the... Mississippi river, I guess. Always lovely at sunset.
Svetlanasmithofficial
Beautiful place to take pictures, have a picnic, shopping stores are near by. Costs $15-19 per ticket (depending on the day) to go up the arch. Totally worth it, if you haven’t been to the top. There’s a museum inside to explore, and many more things to explore in and around.
Mel H
A bit underwhelming. The outside view is the best. Glad we went up the tram but wouldn’t do it again. It was a clear day so we got to see far but meh. The stadium was the best view from above.
Rory Fargo
The ride to the top is kinda cramped but well worth it. You get 10 minutes to take pictures from both sides. Then back down to visit the museum, store and cafe. Very interesting and informative.
Nikos Lipscomb
A fantastic experience overall. The information is very informative, and the view for the top is amazing. Truly the best way to see St Louis from above. I would recommend that you buy a theatre ticket to learn about the history of the monument.
Izzy Marzs
I went up here for the first time in years and it was so nice. Me and my partner went up in the tram and it was right as the sun was setting. His eyes practically lit up when he saw the city from up high. We could see the ice skating rink and the river and highway. It was so pretty.
Aaron Bazar
The trip to the top is pretty cool! Very worth the stop on the way through St Louis! The tram is a little claustrophobic but the ride up is half the fun.
Treye Nekola
It's the Arch...what more needs to be said? It's an engineering marvel and the view from the top is incredible, even on an overcast day.
Deducting one star because the time at the top is very limited - I think it's less than ten minutes. Would have been nice to have a few more minutes to experience the views. Not sure if this is due to COVID or just the new way it's done, but it is something to check and keep in mind if you're thinking about shelling out the money for the ride up. Regardless of the short time, the kids still loved the ride up and looking at the "ants" down below while we were at the top.
Morgan Elise
For my first time seeing the arch, it was absolutely beautiful! The weather was nice and there weren't a whole lot of people. Next visit, I'm for sure going on a tour!
Zachary Shepherd
It was worth it to do once while passing thru town. Nice to visit a National park. And get some cold AC to beat the summer heat! But was pricey. With parking it was $80 for the four of us. And the cafe onsite was expensive as well. If you’re in the area and haven’t been, I would recommend once for the experience. The museum on site was pretty cool.
Terence Hill
Over the years I have been to the Arch many times. I worked right across the Street from it. The Arch is pretty neat and so the is the Museum. If you are in St. Louis you should check it out for sure/ Just bring lots of time with you.
Nathan Flaminio
The last time I was here, everything was under construction. They made a huge improvement to the area! We had a very nice walk around here, and even though it was overcast and sprinkling, we really enjoyed it.
The Arch is incredibly impressive. It's so much bigger in person than it seems in pictures.
This is one of the things that everybody should see at least once in their lives.
There are many Pokestops and gyms here.
Amanda Turner
The Gateway Arch was pretty awesome! They had so much information in the museum. Lots of displays to look at. The gift shop was awesome!! They also have a food court to grab a snack. They do offer rides to the top of the arch but we didn't have time to do that this trip. Next time for sure!!
J Patterson
Went with my son not expecting much. I left quite impressed. Worth the money, imo. Do plan "extra" time for the museum. We only did the ride to the top, and while worth it, the museum and exploring of the property was quite a bit more time...and worth it.
Antony Jeyaraj
It's fantastic sight seeing place and don't miss to take the trom go top to the arch, explore the surrounding. The have a wonderful maintained museum which shows the history of St. Louis and how the arch was built. Before entering the arch museum you will have to go thru a security check. And book the tickets advance if you wish to take the trom and go to top of the arch. It's a 2 to 4 min travel very safe and thrilling. And opposite to the Arch you can see the beautiful Missippi river. There is a river cruise and heli tour as well.
Maeve Charles
Rides to the top fill up fast so get your tickets early. The trip up-and-down was smooth although the pods are very small. Time at the top is strictly limited to 9 minutes.
Chris Shen
The key to a great experience here is to go on a quiet day. The elevator lift up to the top feels like a Jules Verne contraption (it's very tiny, so beware if you're tall or claustrophobic). The exhibits on westward expansion (located beneath the arch) are worth an extended look... really beautiful and insightful presentation of national evolution across the West).
Tiffany Wood
Amazing experience! It was a foggy day when we went, but the experience of going to the top by tram was still worth the money spent. Beautiful museum with great exhibits. Gift shop is affordable with cute souvenirs and of course the photo ops are priceless. Loved it!
el jefe delito
Very cool. Boggles the mind with its height! The 30min movie—played on the hour—was interesting and worth the $4 price for adults. Kids might not find the movie interesting.
Natasha Ramirez
Waterfront parking is free after 5pm but the museum and gift shop ate only open until 6pm. So if you just want a picnic under the arch this is a good option otherwise pay 10$ and come earlier to actually get a tour. Very nice facility.
Christine Laffoon
This is a must see if you are visiting St Louis. The Park area around the arch is an excellent place to bring kids or pets. The area felt safe and beautiful, and both going up in the arch and riding the riverboat is a must. The tram ride up to the top of the arch cost $17 and takes approximately 4 minutes to complete. If you are afraid of heights or claustrophobic this tour is not for you.
cheveroloco
The arch is really impressive once you realize how big it is, the pictures really don't emphasize the structure of this land mark. The park is really nice clean, well taken cared off, and under the arch there's a museum you can walk around free of charge, but if you want to go to the top of the arch you have to buy tickets so I suggest that you go early before they sell out
Wendy
Magnificent arch sculpture. Beautiful surrounding park. Park access is free. Local public parking very near arch = $7. Good restaurants within walking distance
kevin luo
Great place to take the kids if you have a family.
The exhibit inside is worth time to explore while you wait for the trolley up the arch to reach the viewing area.
Parking is more a challenge during the busy days so plan ahead.
PattyA Lucas
A beautiful place to be. Parking is sideways🙃a long walk but well worth the walk. Carriage buggy rides also . Museums are very informative. But the view is amazing.
George Scott
I highly recommend the tram ride to the top. The views are wonderful, very little waiting in line and it is pretty quick. Lots of exhibits to look at while you wait for your timed ticket.
Andre Carvalho Gusmao
if you go to St. Louis, it has to be seen..a place with a grassy railing and a lush view. There are several parking lots nearby. to go up, the ticket costs 14 dollars, but arrive early and book the tour, as the tour has a limited number of people to climb the arch... After booking the tour, take the opportunity to visit the museum in the same place... Um unmissable tour!!!
Aliza Brown
Went during peak time on a Saturday and it cost $19 per person to get to the top. It was worth it. The windows at the top are slanted at an angle so you get to lean over the edge and see all the way to the ground like you’re falling. It’s neat and a little scary at first. The actual ride to the top is crowded inside but it doesn’t last that long at 4 minutes.
James Doan
This is St. Louis, one of the 7 wonders of the world in my book. So amazing and spectacular. Really a modern marvel. I recommend this visit and experience to anyone. Beautiful views and sights all around.
Karen Bruce
Enjoyed my time here but the parking was very questionable. The museum part is free but to ride the tram or see the documentary it does cost some money. Also when we had arrived an hour after they had opened the tram was already sold out so get there early.
Gwen Phillips
We went to see the arch and my cousin wanted to go inside and ride to the top but they were sold out. It looked really scary 😳 to me. But it was nice to visit. …
Christa Johnson
I come out to STL for work from DC a couple times a year so I'm used to monuments and what not but for whatever reason arch still impresses me to this day. The museum is cool and going up in the arch is absolutely a must do!
Latisha Stanfield
Bucket List checked! Museum is absolutely free. I did not have time to explore like I wanted to , but had decided to visit just to see what downtown St.Louis offered. I highly recommend especially if you have kids. Very fun and educational on History. Just make sure you plan your day wisely to explore other attraction near. Very well worth my time I did spend.
sean shivley
Can't come to St Louis and not visit this national park. A great value at $23 to take the tram to the top and view the 30 minute documentary about the building of the arch. The museum below the arch is a fantastic educational experience not to be missed. Give yourself a few hours for exploring the museum alone.
Jeremy Reigel
A fun, unique experience everyone should do at least one of they can and you aren’t claustrophobic. Employees are well versed and the facility OSS spotlessly maintained.
Cajethan Numfor
This is a must visit place when visiting St. Louis! The Gateway Arch is a gateway where arts, science, history, and technology meet. There is always something to discover that will thrill your imagination, and above all, visiting this place is like taking a helicopter cruise around the city. The memorable views of the city from space, the artistic discoveries in the museum, and the fancy restaurants will leave you with a taste never to forget. I classify this place in the category of GREATNESS!
Crystal Holloway
Amazing experience definitely worth going! The new museum under the arch is so interactive and informative. And the Cafe has great food. Don't forget to check out the gift shop for some mementos of your trip! It was also all very wheelchair accessible!!
john king
It is a national park. Very well kept. Large visitors center and museum about construction of the arch Has a nice cafe inside. Buy your tickets in advance. A must see and do if you are in the area.
Jennifer Lapinsky
I have a Passport to America for all the national parks, so I had to get my stamp from the Arch when we were near St Louis!
The grounds are beautiful and the walk to the Arch itself isn't too bad. Parking was $7 and is pretty close to the park entrance.
There isn't a lot of signage outside the Arch and it was kind of hard to find the entrance to the museum. It's on the city side of the Arch, not the side facing the river and it's underground.
The museum was HUGE! There was a ton of information there concerning St Louis and the Westward expansion. I really appreciated the focus on Native Americans and the plight put upon them as the United States was becoming what you see today. They also gave a lot of information on POC and women and their contributions to the area. Overall, the museum was incredible and very informative.
I visited the gift shop. I only bought one thing, but everything seemed reasonably priced.
timothy rotter
This is a great place to explore for adults and children. They have like a museum section that's quite extensive. I'm afraid of heights, but it wasn't scary at the top. It's a tight fit going up. But there is plenty of ventilation in the little pods that take you to the top. No claustrophobia issues.
That arch grounds and river front is great to explore too.......
Daniel
We did the three package where it's the movie of how they made the arch, the riverboat ride, and the arch ride to the top. The riverboat Captain put a lot of heart into the tour, really interesting and fun commentary about the present and past industrial use of the river, and about that world war II minesweeper that's washed up on the bank. For the movie, it had a lot of good info on the arch and how it was made as well as good footage from the workers point of view. Of course going up in that tiny Arch elevator was pretty awesome. They also have a really nice museum
underground that we've never been to.
Jamie Stull
Visited Saint Louis for 4 days only (conference),and made time to ride up. The place was clean, our guide up was explaining things very well. Had no idea about the history here. Learned! Was a rainy day so not so good pictures.
Anthony Cruz
Great place to stop at in St. Louis! You could easily lose a few hours here. It appears that your time slot is the earliest you can get your tickets scanned as we were a few minutes late getting through security. They do allow pocketknives up to certain length (4” if I remember correctly). There are different staging points after ticketing before you get to the tram with retro themed videos to watch as you wait. The tram experience is it’s own thing. You feel like you’re in another time period. The kids loved it. When we got to the tram, it was just the five of us and two other people. The space up top is separated into two sections, so with seven of us, there was plenty of room to move around and take pictures. You get about ten minutes at the top and it seems to go buy quick. The party that came after us seemed to have 20-30 people and we remember thinking that in hindsight, we would’ve requested to wait for the next set if it meant less people. The museum downstairs was great and had a lot of items on display that kept the kids entertained. We did not get a chance to eat at the restaurant onsite, but did get to spend some time with the information lady at one end of the museum. She was amazing and was filled with a bunch of information that we all found interesting. She also gave the kids coloring books and crayons. Afterwards, we walked around the outside which was filled with different photo opportunities.
Jenika Turnquist
So much fun! It was a beautiful day! Our kids could not believe how big it was! Very clean, decent food, lots of information. The tiny little elevator we went up in was so fun, we kept laughing at how small the pods were! We all had a great time!
Donna Trovarello
Love visiting the Arch. The scenery is beautiful and you can hop on a Riverboat Cruise right there. Parking is close by and not horrible. We parked in a lot 2 blocks away and paid $2 to stay there for an hour.
- Guerrero
Loved the experience and took the cruise to get a better look. We had fun it was a bit hot but we loved hearing about city history.
Lalita Nyx
As a someone who grew up in St. Louis visiting the arch lost its luster a long time ago, however… The renovation of the Arch grounds, the trolley to the top to look out over the city and the Mississippi, and the cafe inside with the museum made for the perfect afternoon day trip for my friend that had never been to St. Louis, and everything was wonderful!
Alexia Reyes
You can go inside the arch something i never knew. You'll be on very small cart going up. Not recommended for claustrophobic. You'll stay around 10 min on the top. $17 p/p (June 2022) only going up. Other attractions little extra. Gift shop very affordable. T Shirts $16, $21 etc.
Don Coker
Spectacular views from the top, 1960's tram technology is still amazing. Museum is very informative.
Tierra
Super cool! The top is very nice and it's a pretty good price. There's also a museum inside and the staff are all pretty friendly.
A.J. Kleipass
The Arch is a wonderful experience. The museum features interactive features for kids (and kids at heart). The tram to the top of the Arch is an interesting experience - as an overweight person with some mobility issues, it was a bit challenging to get in and out of the tram's doors - they are about 4 feet by 2 feet, and a big step up. Once seated, it's a pleasant enough ride, well-ventilated, and not as claustrophobic as I feared. The view at the top was well-worth the tram's inconvenience.
Kevin Gardner
Amazing. Breathtaking. One of the most beautiful monuments to human dedication and ingenuity int he country. I was continuously humbled by the sheer majesty of the structure and the park itself. Highly recommend the tram tour!
Justin Bennett
Really cool experience, especially for the kids. You can see into Busch Stadium from the top. Tram ride to the top was not scary at all. The kids enjoyed it. Ordering tickets online was really simple and super easy to check in at the gate. Parking at the levee parking was $8 and really a short walk to the entrance. I do not recommend parking at the levee if you are going to be taking a wheel chair or stroller or anything else that has wheels. They will not roll easily on the rocks at the levee.
Mary Shadowens
It's been several years since I have visited the Arch and it's quite lovely. We went after dark and the lighting was very nice. Several park rangers driving around on ATV so it felt safe. Very well maintained and clean. Easy to get to. Lots of benches to sit on.
Angela Norris
Enjoyed taking our out of town guests for their first visit. We were able to purchase tickets prior to arrival and the line went quickly. The tour guides were funny and well versed.
Mary B.
More than just an elevator ride. There's museum and gift shop and small pricey eatery. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Parking was NOT FREE in the nearest parking lot.
Kelly Brock-Sanchez
Let me say first. There are teens running nearly the whole show which makes me worry for them. Please notice the young kids working there and be kind. That being said, don’t the jerky country bumpkin people who think masking wearing is a joke and ignite the federally mandated signs for mask wearing due to that nation being in RED. These kids are clearly too scared to enforce it so the Park Rangers need to step up and enforce the mask wearing around the museum, in line , at the top of the arch and in the pods when you’re the stuck with these same selfish people to intervene. The exhibits are amazing. You can easy spend a couple of hours reading all the displays, and the gift shops is great too. Very well done. If you take the outsideFREE ranger tour-you will be pleasantly surprised about how much you learn.
Shaik Abdul Cader Shaik Dawood
Went to the museum and the park, which were free.
You can spend about 2 hours at the museum alone, if you'd like to read everything. The history is heart wrenching, but is something we should be aware of.
There's paid parking available about a block away, at iParkit.
The museum and the park are stroller and wheelchair friendly.
Get the National Parks Passport stamp at the main lobby of the museum.
Daniel Brennick
View from the top was awesome. The kids loved it. The cafe portions were pretty small for the price but food was okay. Would definitely visit each time I'm in St. Louis and visit the top every few years.
Paul And Hannah Huntsberger
I have been wanting to see this for my entire life. Architecture like this is a one of a kind! Lovely late June day, not too hot or humid. Well worth visiting if only just for a short time
Terry Guers
Impressive to see. Unfortunately for me, I didn't check before going to learn that you should purchase a ticket to ride before you go. There were no tickets available when I arrived and were sold out for the next day also. So I was unable to ride to top to see the view.
Benjamin Diet
It's definitely the defining monument of Saint-Louis. You can ride to the top for between $10-$15 (depending on your age), but also access the museum for free. It's kinda cool to see anyway, if you're passing in the city, you should get a picture.
Julia
Gorgeous park situated along the river. Beautiful place to walk, picnic, nap, sit on a bench and enjoy the surrounding nature and Arch.
Robert Meier
More impressive than I thought it would be honestly. The park itself is very nice and the museum is wonderfully done. The only thing that confuses me is why it’s a National park and not a monument or something- but either way it was worth checking off the list. Tickets to the top are a bit steep also so I didn’t see if that was worth it.
Ken A
Fun place.... very interesting how they built the arch. Worth your time and money... clean place with decent coffee and fun to attend
Chris Le
It's a great location, but the lines are just ridiculous to get in and get to the top. But if you are new to the city and want to see some views, I would recommend at least checking out once.
Keelynn Barrier
an amazing experience we didn’t know what to expect when going in we were guided to our ride to the top and there are 5 seats per team cart and we had no clue how it worked but after our ride to the top and back down was over we walked through the whole museum and learned it was so cool
Michael DeWys
Took the paddleboat cruise as
an appetizer - very informative
bank to bank c/o our Captain.
The Arch tram was amusement
ride type fun jammed in a tiny
capsule, but the top view was
well worth the steps and que.
This is a shutterbugs dream,
but the real showstopper is the
US Park Service Museum below
- chocked full of primo historical interactive displays. Allow 2-4
hrs time to leisurely absorb
this understated gem -
best if all its FREE!
Malia Reitz
It was very fun! I went with my family and we went up the tram to the top. It was a very good view. We didn't really get a chance to walk around the museum, but above ground was very pretty. Would recommend.
Jenny S
Views from the top are amazing. Warning trip to the top takes about 3 minutes in a small egg looking cart. It's very small space but worth the trip.
Dave Cameron
We set our appointment for 9:10 in the morning; and were there until 2:00 PM! I didn't expect to have so much to see.
First, we took the trip to the top of the Arch. You get about 10 minutes to look out in all directions. Then, we saw a movie on building the arch; was about 30 minutes long (I think). Finally, there was a historical museum at the base focusing on the history of the area - as the "gateway to the West". It starts with when Europeans first arrived (with some info as to the native inhabitants), continues through the French era (with a small section of time under Spain), then the sale to the U.S. After that, the eras of St. Louis history from booming city when waterways were THE way to transport everything, to a "slippage" when rail took over, to current state. This last part took us over 2.5 hours, so we had lunch there.
Cameron Fisher
The movie was fascinating to learn about the engineering challenges of building the arch. The ride to the top was a great experience (provided you're not afraid of elevators or heights!) - the view from the top is a little underwhelming however, and there is a LOT of waiting around for the elevator/tram. There's a good museum and a pretty good café.
Would be 5 stars if not for the waiting around! (Around 40 minutes from designated tram time until we actually boarded to go up).
Miranda’s Moments
The tour guide was amazing. She answered everyone’s questions. She seemed very knowledgeable. It wasn’t scary at all at the top. I thought it might be. The wind was blowing so I felt it sway, but the staff was super friendly at the top and the view was great!!! The gift shop was awesome with a great selection. The museum displays were also very great! Definitely get here early to see them. The lady at the desk for boarding the tram rides was super rude, but the rest of the experience was amazing!!! We purchased our tickets online. I would suggest doing that because at 1 pm they said they were sold out for the whole day. Idk how long that had been before that. We ubered here so we wouldn’t have to park. The presentation they do before you go to the top is super cool as well! I’d definitely suggest to check this out.
Danny Menard
It was easy to order tickets ahead of time, and staff was super friendly. I personally screwed up my tickets not remembering the time difference, and was able to exchange them for a different time that day. After that though the museum was fun to explore while you wait for your tram ride. Before you get on the tram they show you more educational videos about the Arch. The tram itself is a bit small, and though I defiantly felt claustrophobic, it was completely safe. The top of the Arch was worth the whole journey because it is a absolutely stunning view.
Drew Shumpert
So glad I stopped by here while I was in town. The museum under it was great! Didn't get to ride up to the top of it but definitely plan to on my next trip!! This place is absolutely stunning. If you haven't gone to see it, GO!
Darlaine Donna Raley
One of my favorite iconic landmark in St. Louis , Mo. And it's a blessing, honor and unforgettable experience for me that the induction of my American citizenship held there last July 1,2021🙏🥰🙌♥️🇺🇸 Gateway Arch, the monument was to serve as a living memorial to Jefferson's 'vision of greater opportunities for all races and creeds🤓 …
Annette Richards
I hadn't been to the Arch in about 20 years. Great guides, beautiful museum. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience from start to finish.
dayna ledbetter fuller
Me and my husband visited this and it was amazing and so beautiful up at the top . You can view but Missouri/Illinois. It’s definitely worth the money . And it’s not expensive
Scott Richmann
Come on. You're in St Louis, this is a must do if you have the time. Was here years ago as a kid a couple of times and went up the arch. Latest visit, got to town a bit later and did not have time. The museum beneath the Arch is excellent. The grounds are worth a stroll just for the varied views you can get of the Arch. May be just faded memories, but seems like everything has received an upgrade since becoming a NP.
Phoenix Hiraeth
Passed by on both 12/20 and 12/30/21. The Gateway Arch is beautiful to see at night with the lights shining on it and giving it a sparkling blue glow when it is clear. In the fog, the arch is ominous and disappears into the clouds. I have been inside the Arch years ago and that was a very cool experience as well. This time we decided to forgo entering but hoped to get a closer picture of the outside. I took a star off because this is one of the most difficult attractions we've tried to get to. The 'Arch Parking' is miles from the Arch, and the road signs directing us to the Arch had us going back and forth across the river.
Jonathan Reynolds
The grounds and facilities are immaculate! Get there early, stay a while. The tram to the top is definitely worth the tight squeeze.
Heidi WuzHere
It was a fun experience. Definitely a must do if you are in the area. The museum was so informative and the tram to the top was a plus. They currently practice COVID safety & wear masks indoors since it's a national park, so you'll feel safe to go. 👍😊 …
Rikki Wuu
Greattour takes around 1 hours. U will spend around 10mins up there, ball sharp elevator is tiny but real fun.
Emary Smith
One of the best visit I ever been to. It held so much history and right across the River is a car hill factory it was amazing to me. It’s beautiful at night but for the best photos go in the day time.
Ashley Gutowski
Take the time to go to the top! The elevators are neat (very small) and the views from top are well worth it. Overall park is great you can walk around and the visitor center has a very informative museum. A must visit when in STL.
sam mcfarlin
Nice place to visit! Tram ride to top is a must. Riverboat was interesting! Really good coffee .
Danita Day
Very nice museum underneath the arch at the entry. Tram ride and view from top was a lot of fun. Trams are small but ride is short.
Jay Schild
Wonderful experience. It truly is a marvel of engineering. Our guide James was awesome, and so were the Park Rangers at the top. Beautifully maintained facility and awesome park surrounding it. I loved my time there.
Brittany M
Went on a Saturday at ~10 am and they didn’t have any tickets for the ride to the top until 2:30 pm! So make sure you get there early on a weekend if you want to get in without much of a wait. They might also have tickets online, but I didn’t plan the trip so I didn’t check.
If you have the National park annual pass you get a discount on the ride, ~$2-3 off of the ticket price, if I remember correctly. The museum inside is pretty cool, but you do have to go through a TSA-like security to get to it. Jackets off, shoes on (at least when I went).
John Gloss
The Arch is amazing. Getting to it a nightmare. You have to park 4 block away and if by chance you walk to the north or south leg a big bearded security guard will stop you and make you walk about 1 mile to center only entrance. There are a few signs stenciled on walkway but not on exit only area. NOT handicapped friendly at all so be ware. Staff on ride to to are excellent and very knowable about arch. Gift shops a full of 1000 items but steeply priced.
Larry Henry
The Gateway Arch is an engineering marvel. We scheduled our visit to include the arch, a movie, and a boat ride on the Mississippi and timed them so that we didn't miss a thing. Do pay attention to what you carry with you because there is a TSA checkpoint scanning you and your belongings before entering the main facility.
Rustan Porter
Super cool must visit worth the drive. Very crowded during the day. Great 📸 taking opportunities. …
Neeraj Singh
The museum here is so good. I couldn’t spend much time but whatever time we had, it was quite informative.
Glad to learn about the history of the arch - why was it built?
Andrew Ricketts
So much history to read and look at!! Loved the view and the awesome elevator up the arch. The tour person was not into it and must of had a bad day. Not one of the happiest of the group! Overall experience is a total win!
Chopped Champ
The Arch has a nice park and walkway around the monument grounds. Land, sea and air tours are available via helicopter, boat and the indoor museum. Masks are required to take the tram up to the top of the arch, but are not sanitized between visitors. The Arch offers very nice views of St. Louis and the Mississippi River and on a clear day you can see for miles. The tram ride is rather expensive given the time you get to spend up top which was maybe 5 minutes for my group. The lowest cost tram ticket was $14 and there are packages available as well. The trams are pretty tight so if you're claustrophobic or have problems in tight confined areas you'll probably have to bypass the trip to the top. The museum was nicely played out and the visitors center had a gift shop, restrooms and a little eatery. Gifts were about average in price and were of good quality. The park was immaculate inside and out and the staff was for the most part courteous. Unfortunately people seem to want to etch their names amongst other things on the monument itself which can be seen up close. If you have 3-4 hours available the Arch is a worthy visit.
Raaman Nair
Awesome place by the river! Plan your trip so that you can go up the tram. Tickets sold out very quickly. Face mask is required to enter park's offices. You can also visit the museum and get things at the gift store.
Deniz Mirik
Nothing much going on the top for sure in my opinion, museum was good tho. They built it bring tourist in the literally it works (:
Paul Gilbert
Small elevator that fits 5 people. Takes you to the top. 630 ft. In the air. Can sway at the top up to 18 inches. Great view of the city.
Gabriel V
Very nice! The park seemed well maintained. Hot day, but gorgeous! The arch museum was very interesting! Very detailed. And free! Could easily kill half an hour just checking out the exhibit hall. Staff was friendly and masked. Jist had to lay to park.Worth a view!
Anthony (ANTDIZZ)
Great Place to check out in STL, lots of historic info in the museum and the view from the top of the arch is priceless!!
Definitely a go to!!
Keith Thornley
I didn't realize that it was a national park until we were leaving but the grounds were very well kept, the museum was really well done and the view from the top was impressive. I definitely recommend checking the arch out once.
MLVC Channel
Glad we could go do this yesterday evening! The place was extremely comfortable and the staff was helpful! Great trip!
Alexandre Oliveira (Xander)
Absolutely perfect, it's so pretty, the people are so incredibly nice and the prices are not too high, a all around your going up the elevator to the top and watching the documentary is only $45, the museum and walkthrough is free! It was really nice to be here today.
Jessica Basham
Breathtaking, I was so impressed with how well managed it was and they were very friendly. Be aware the pods are about 5ft I think but they have a test one before you enter to try
Jeremy Janus
I have been going to Arch since I was a kid when my dad lived in Saint Louis. It is one of those parks that has seemingly gotten better over my lifetime. The new museum is a great walkthrough and an experience in itself. The Arch itself is great to go up into for the perspective of looking out on the city but only if heights do not get to you. The view looking down can almost give you vertigo if you are not ready for it. The chairs are small and cramped and are not good if you are claustrophobic. If you are not though, it is worth the ride to the top! There are other great attractions, bars, and restaurants near the Arch as well which makes it a great family trip!
Beth Bungert
Great Museum! The museum is free of charge! The Arch Tram was fun, but super scary for a couple people in our party.
Jay Abron
We were on our way to Missouri and stopped to see this very cool landmark. It was off of a Pier and the Pier had food trucks. There was a gift shop on the grounds as well.
Michelle Hull
I was here with my 3 nieces in January 2020. Road the tram to the top and it was a great experience. Highly recommend.
Jess Shaw
We didn't get to go up this time. It was a last minute let's see if it's still open trip lol. You need to either call or schedule a time online. Other than that we were able to see the museum inside, and everything outside. This was the first time I have seen it since they re-did everything. Impressive, the kids loved seeing how the arch was made.
Michael Liseo
Had to stop here on my road trip out west. Such an amazing monument to see in person! Highly recommend! 🇺🇸 …
Ashley Chmielewski
Fun! The museum was informative and cool displays. A lot of work was put into it. Everybody was really nice.
Nicole Freeman
Great day out! Perfect weather and lovely views. Would recommend. May want to consider purchasing tickets in advance.
Prabha Karan
St. Louis Arch is not to be missed place while visiting St. Louis , we went here early in the morning, we thought we could go and get in the top, later we realized there are reservations to get in to of the arch, we got tickets for 12:30 though we were early, so if you planning to get in the top try to reserve the tickets before so you could plan well, we stayed inside the arch basement till our time and since we stayed decided to finish our lunch here, we thought it would be a normal place since our experience before the places like this the food would be normal or mediocre, we decided to try their St. Louis ribs, sandwich and some drinks to our surprise both sandwich and ribs tasted so good, we felt we made right choice to have the food here, would highly recommend this place to anyone.

The Arch experience at night: and the reason why I gave only 4 stars:
We visited the Arch last thanksgiving at night. I was a bit worried we can’t see anything at night, but in the end we enjoy the city view at night. It’s not completely dark, we can see street lights and cars from above. Meanwhile, the lights around the Arch is pretty. but the park itself is relatively dark.(I posted a photo of night view you can see from above at night.)
The reason I gave 4 stars is:
It’s a bit stressful to find the entrance (at night) for the first time visitors. Tips: the two “legs” of the Arch are exit-only.
We arrived at one “leg” and found its exit-only. There was no clear notice to point out where is the entrance, and it’s dark at night. We simply thought the other “leg” might be the entrance so we ran across the park, from one side to the other, with two young kids in cold autumn night. However, the other “leg” still exit-only! Then we asked the person inside the building and knew the entrance is located in the middle of the park, there is a museum there. I wish that who managed the park could post a map of entrance at both exits, so nobody else will run crazily to the other side/exit, like us.
Other than that, all things perfect. I recommend this place to others. We will come back to visit again during the day time.
Just don’t forget, the “legs” of the Arch are exit-only.
Ali Bakir
It's a great experience to have at an affordable price. They show you a brief history clip before you board the elevator to the top. There's also shops and a museum at the bottom.
The window in the top were small. You need to be very close to the window to be able to see the view outside.
However, if you're claustrophobic, don't go to the top. I had a rough day after the ride.
Elizabeth Kibby
Very cool experience. If you are passing through try to schedule a few hours to stop to ride the tram to the top of the Arch. Beautiful gardens around the Arch and parking was nearby.
Carol Drews
It was even better than I imagined! The museum is free and very informative. The ride to the top of the arch is not scary at all, compared to what they caution you that it might be! I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Dimas Melchor
The structure is remarkable. We visited on a Sunday in October and the weather was very pleasant. The park is tranquil and it was not crowded. Plenty of spots to sit and observe. The closest parking spot was $10 and was a private parking lot. I thought it was worth the price for parking as you didn’t have to walk very far. I plan on spending more time next go around and take the elevators up.
monte kiggins
Pretty cool, lots of neat stuff to see. Awesome museum and cool ride up to the top of the gateway.
Leah Lambart
So much fun! The capsule trams that take you to the top are very 60s mod space ship time capsule feeling. My 9 and 10 year old kids loved the experience. They were nervous but did great. There's an amazing museum beneath the Arch which my kids did not want to see. We watched the documentary and it was fascinating. You could book the documentary and a tram ticket back to back. The movie is 30 minutes and the team entrance is right next to it. So no need for time in between. Movie and ride to the top took about 90 minutes total. The gift shop is fun with lots of souvenir choices. There's a restaurant under the Arch and down by the river boats.
Vivian Kelley
Wow this place was amazing to go to. It's not as obvious from a distance but up close right underneath it the true magnificence and sheer scale of it is just breathtaking. Definitely worth the trip there's also helicopter rides nearby but we didn't go cause it's like $43 per person for a 2 minute ride. There's also a ferry ride but IDK how much it is.
Ashish G
Magnificent architecture! It looks like a portal to the city.
We took the tram to the top. You can see some amazing views. I wish the wait was shorter for the tram though. You gotta wait for 25 min to 20 min tour.
adela osmenaj
Couldn't get the chance to go at the top of the Arch, since it closes at 6 pm. I think, that would be a very interesting experience, since it has a very unique shape. Anyways, keep in mind to get there before 6 pm.
sheridan shauntee
Enjoyed park area. Not busy during week, owning hours. Arch measum and train ride $23.00. Worth the ticket price.
Gallagher Goodland
My expectations were low before coming here. But I was absolute impressed by this structure! It’s HUGE!!! Definitely worth visiting.
SRC N
The Gateway Arch was a wonderful experience. It is hard to really capture the beauty of the Arch, especially as you look up into the sky. It is truly breathtaking! It seems to ascend miles into the sky.
Asya Adil
Impressive and awe inspiring monument. As the tallest, it is one to remember. From far away it catches your attention and close up in captures your curiosity. The park is also beautiful and offers spacious trails.
Krieg Dagger
Parking is a bit chaotic. If you get tickets in advance, please give yourself 30min to find parking.
After the fact, found Broadway and Cerre lot for $2. Otherwise, expect $10
Pantelis Galatoulas
Very cool piece of history. The ride to the top was definitely interesting but well worth the time.
Shan T (Stvz Fam)
What a great place to visit! We watched the movie, it was fascinating. The museum covers the struggles that the native Indians had due to the invasive white people. Took the tour to the top, the rangers who help are wonderful! At the base, your right next to the Mississippi, beautiful area. Great tourist attraction!
Shantell Hughes
Enjoyed our visit to The Gateway Arch. Took the tram up to the top. It wasn't busy; only two other people were on our tour with us. We felt like VIPs on a private tour. We had lots of room to look around at the top.
Eric Munoz
This is very impressive. Beautiful views! However, the ride up may not be for the claustrophobic. There's also a nice museum at the base displaying the history of St. Louis.
Josh Pratt
Was in town for a concert and took in a few sights. The Gateway Arch is an engineering marvel to behold. It is huge. The ride to the top was unforgettable and the view was fantastic...on the Missouri side. The east side looking towards Illinois is poopy. Plan ahead and go to the top. The museum is a great history lesson if you're curious.
Raymond Soto Jr
Awesome place the elevator ride was 4 minutes up 3 minutes down. They allow you on top for 10mins to walk around and take pictures, then they load you back on to the elevators.
Alan Erzinger
Museum is free and lots to see. Everything else is a la carte. There's even a tour that the Rangers give.
Helen Buck
Fantastic experience. People from all over the country coming together to marvel at history and architecture. It's a beautiful thing. Everyone was polite and safe. Definitely a great way to get out in these times.
Debisree Ray
This is totally iconic to STL. A nice monumental piece by the STL, MO side of RO er Mississippi. Arch is visible from many places but the monumental park and the building to access the top of it has a timing. Plan your trip ahead and get the tickets for the tram/ elevator ride to the top. It’s worth. Even if you don’t wanna go up, the park area in front of the arch facing the downtown and the Capitol building is great. If the weather is nice, it’s a perfect spot to spend some time in the outdoor. However, I enjoyed the museum inside and a quick tour to the top. The view is great.
Heads-up - if you are very big and tall, or have a serious claustrophobia, you might consider avoiding the tram ride. The trolly is really small and a big stuffy and the ride is almost 10-15 minutes at least ( can’t remember the exact one)
Remberto Ahumada
It's a good place to know about history of the country and city, it's amazing how old good and nice construction, the museum is interactive and makes everything more visual and entertaining, personal is nice, is definitely something that you have to do if you are visiting the city.
Joshua Arnold
Had a great time very interesting. Got to see really cool views of the city was a good time.
Kethon Colbert
That was so cool. The elevator ride up was kinda sketchy but fun. Can't wait to go back to St. Louis.
Min Zhou
Nice view and friendly staff. For the high scare issue, the staff gives a comfortable suggestion. Very patient. We feel safe and secure. It is worth it for the whole family.
Cheryl Beckingham
It was very nice . It was a hike up the hill to get to the Arch entrance. You had to find paid parking $7 during the week and $10 on the weekend. With America the beautiful pass, you can get in for $3 less. $12 dollars for seniors the monument Movie is $7 or discount of 3 dollars if you show your tram to the top tickets.
Todd Herres
Best time to visit is the winter. There were very little in the amount of tourists. We went to the top and had the place to ourselves and a handful of others.
Jered Scurlock
The Gateway Arch is completely well organized and put together and unlike any other historic site because it is a national park. There are more National Park Rangers at the facility and I would say that Karen is the most knowledgeable in the facility and I would consider her an expert for you to seek out and learn about the beginnings and historic details. Karen should be highly esteemed for her knowledge and candor. The tour to the top of the arch is also well made and if you think you will feel claustrophobic I assure you will not it takes a short time to get to the top and then to return back to the bottom.
Vicki Gibbons
They've remodeled. Very cold and unwelcoming now. It's been many years since I had been here. Time is limited to 10 minutes now up on top. Security check points. Put every in a plastic tub walk through an electric scanner. Don't eat in their restaurant. Everything is microwaved and nothing is really cooked. One woman in the gift shop was very friendly and helpful. She said she has worked there maybe 25 years.
Jackie Shelby
My grandchildren are on Fall Break and we decided to go on an Arch outing. Great way to spend a fun and relaxing, educational experience with your family. Chicken wings were so very tasty.
All staff members were friendly and professional.
Darren Lopez
I would like to applaud the hard working men and women that up keep the Arch on a day to day basis. There is so much history in St. Louis. I would recommend parents to take the time out of their busy schedule and take their kids to the Arch!
Steve Hiatt
An incredible structure! We were surprised to see the elaborate underground museum as well. We wish we could have ridden the tram to the top, but we didn't have time.
DeAngelo Rodriguez
Magnificent is the word that comes to my mind when I think of standing at the foot of the arch. It’s sheer size is almost intimidating! And the way you feel about being under such a grand monument is unforgettable. Thanks St. Louis!!
Jennifer Vandergrift
Took a tram ride up into the Arch. The view was stunning and totally worth the price (which is only $15 a person). I just wish we had gotten more than 10 minutes at the top to enjoy the sites.
stubby lee
Went in early 2019. As expected it was very crowded at the top..none the less its worth going up. If you are claustophobic or scared of heights you might reconsider. The Gateway Arch has been there for many yrs and thru all kinds of weather and its still standing tall. Worth seeing the museum also.
Scott Rooney
This place was absolutely amazing. The museum was a lot of fun to walk around while we waited for our shuttle ride. The ride to the top of the arch was definitely unique, fun, and interesting. The views at the top of the arch were absolutely wonderful. This Monument is a must-see.
Deb 1211
Great host for tour. Beautiful view at the top. Nice gift shop
James Humphreys
Amazing. The shuttles were already booked so we didn’t get to ride to the top but the history in the museum was very well done.
BogdanM
An impressive monument and rightly an emblem of St. Louis. It is a pity for someone to visit the city without even touching the huge arch.
Christopher Kennedy
Timeless National Monument where one can still get lost in almost feeling like there a young kid experiencing it for the first time. I love this place!!
Marvilla Marzán
Excellent visit. The Arch, the documentary movie, and the museum are a must to truly appreciate the history and grandeur of this landmark. Friendly staff. Beautiful grounds. Also enjoyed the riverboat tour. The ride to the top of the Arch is the only part not accessible to wheelchairs. July 2021.
Dave Gisseman
We loved the experience. You have to buy your tickets in advance. They were only running the north tram, so they were at 50% - I believe this is Covid related. We had to wear masks, but only in the tram.
Tonya Wright
This was a pretty cool experience. The tram system was really neat and kind of made me think of the glass elevator in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Lol They are currently operating at about half the normal capacity so they are definitely not crowded. There is a cool museum that gives all kinds of local Missouri history along with information about the arch. The gift shop is also pretty neat and has a lot of fun souvenirs. Be aware that there are stairs, this is not an accessible attraction.
Joohee Shin
It's an enormous height.
Please reserve tickets in advance
If you look at it in person, there's no end to human limitations.I feel it
steve sawyers
I went on a Thursday at 4pm. Very few people which was nice. A history of St Louis with plenty of museum quality exhibits!
Larissa Murara
It’s a nice place to visit, I went to the top… it was a quick time to stay in the top part but worth it. You do not need pay to visit the museum.

Love this engineering marvel! The movie was great at explaining just how this was constructed. It gives a great time line of the project from start to finish. It made going up inside of it so much more enjoyable than it would've been if we'd not seen it. The ride up is very organized. The views at the top are amazing! Thoroughly enjoyed this experience!
Merry Riebau
Much more massive than I imagined. The greenbelt park is beautiful, bring a picnic lunch and enjoy. Check out the stone church around the corner; the architecture is stunning.
Penny Crowell
Nice place to visit with family from out of state. Should have purchased tram tickets online as there was a 2 hour wait
Branden Flasch
Having to go through security just for the gift shop and cafe is pretty annoying, but cool sight to see. Wouldn’t go out of your way to come here, but if you’re passing through St Louis, definitely worth the stop.
Alex Naprstek
Nice touristy spot. Pictures don't do the arch justice in how tall it really is. Makes you feel so tiny compared to it 😅
nikki Edwards
The architectural design is impressive! The shear magnitude of it's size is a marvel. The museum beneath the arch was informative and a great learning experience
Jon Butcher
Be sure to get here early and buy tickets for the ride to the top, as these tend to sell out before noon on weekends. Definitely worth stopping and spending half a day at this National Monument.
Valerie K.
The Arch is so cool. You can touch it, you can go inside it, you can walk around it. The museum, gift shop and cafe are underground.
Only weird thing is there's a mini airport security checkpoint when you go in the under ground. Your bags get x-rayed and you have to go through a metal detector. We didn't have to take our shoes off, though.
Harold Dick
Such an icon of American Civil Engineering and representing the American Spirit of manifest destiny! Recommend the tram ride and getting tickets ahead if time. The museum was fantastic and surprisingly honest on the history lesson.
Bryan Harris
We didn't go up into the arch this time, but the free museum is very good! There are a lot of interesting facts about St. Louis and artifacts on display. I like that they're enforcing the mask rules as a federal building.
You don't realize how large the monument is until you see it up close.
Greg DeCicco
Wow what a view. Definitely a must if you are in Saint Louis. You get a discount if you have a senior park pass.
Lewis Hilleary
I watched the movie and took the ride to the top you do have to pay for these things. They have some really good displays for free to look about the history of the area.
Alexandria Johnson (Ali)
The ride to the top was so much fun. It was slightly confusing with the entrance to the tower, but once we were able to get a lay of the land I did notice how much signage there was; we were rushing so I didn't notice it right away.
The tour guide was great, the experience totally worth it. Loved talking to the park ranger at the top. What a memorable trip for my family and I!
Marty Harbour
Awesome experience, take your family take your friends and don't miss it. Cardinal stadium everything is so easy to see from the top tickets are cheap!
Dusty Flowe
A bucket list checkmark! So much fun. Definitely worth every penny to ride to the top.
Todd Elliott
I loved this place. The history and the learning to be done here is FANTASTIC. We'll designed and executed. Its pretty small for a National Park but still tons to learn and explore.
Master Chief
Great place to visit!! Must take the time to check it out!! Free to get into the museum just have to go through security checkpoints that were easy to get in and out without any problems!! Ride tickets must be purchased in advance or you will be SOL!! Cool seeing the helicopter takeoff and land on barge behind it along the water. Fun times and good to go!!!
Thalia Montgomery
It was a great experience. My husband and I were amazed at how You use the elevators to go up and down. They are tiny, buy spacious.
We really liked the COVID-19 precautions they are taking.
Walter Riebau
St. Louis is a city with a great, rich history. From steam boats to steam trains, you should see the national museum of transportation... remarkable!
The photo is looking toward downtown from the Arch.
Shivaprasad K
One of the main attractions of St Louise. This 192 m tall monument is built on the west banks of river Mississippi, as a symbol of gateway to the west.
W Zhao
Had so much fun! Ticket is around 15 dollars for the ride to the top.
Monika Piazza
We always love stopping at the arch when we pass through St Louis. The park is clean and well kept. Tons of activity all over the place...runners, yoga, dogs, etc. Such a lovely place...and free to visit. ($8 to park your car though)
Doug
Very interesting place to visit. The ground fog made the view from below very unique but the trade off was no visibility at the top. Worth the time and effort to see the arch.
Ivan M
Definitely worth seeing I did the ride and movie combo and the view from the top is great!
TheGuy InTheWoodsOfNH
A must see if in the area. So happy to have visited in the off season as I can't imagine the lines and the waiting times in the peak season. I highly recommend prebooking tour times online as well as prebooking parking at the nearby garage about 2 healthy blocks away. Parking for up to 5 hours was $9 as of my posting date. Don't miss the 30 minute film showing the building of the arch. It truly is an engineering marvel that was completed in 1963, a must see for $12 off peak rate.
Mark Sanson
Had a blast. Bought the tickets online for $12.00 each (cheaper during the week and a bit more expensive on weekends) used my QR code to gain access. The transaction was fast and easy. We forgot our masks but they sell them there for a dollar each. Get there with plenty of time so you can find parking also. Street parking is available you just have to look for it and pay at the meter.
Justin Baughman
I have never seen the arch before. It was crazy how big it was. My daughter and I were both amazed. My wife went as a child, but was equally impressed. We got several nice pictures and enjoyed looking at it. We went through the free museum and the history was all really interesting. There were enough interesting interactives to keep the interest of our 4 year daughter as well. We also got some nice souvenirs in the gift shop. Someday we will come back and go up, but it was sold out when we came.
Jake Arnott
Awesome museum. If ya wanna go up make sure you call ahead of time!
Chaz Thompson
For the price.. this might be the most bang for the buck of any national monument visit.. and it includes a freaking ride into the sky.. AMAZING
Zak Evans
Excellent views from the top, highly suggested to get tram tickets up to the top. The views of the arch from the river are some of the best from the ground level. I would suggest not going when there is a cardinals game taking place, traffic is pretty bad. For a NP, this was a quick one and I dont know why it is a NP. Its cool but more historic than park. We also touched the highpoint near the courthouse, very uneventful
Lauren Delgado
Really enjoyed visiting here. We didn't go up in the Arch, but spent time walking around. Very nice park area. A lot of people say this National Park is overrated, but I disagree. We enjoyed ourselves here and it is well maintained.
Aaron N
Excellent experience to visit the arch. The surrounding park is beautiful and well maintained. Unfortunately I did not realize that the tram ride to the top books up about a week out during the summer so we did not get to go to the top. The finish is all stainless steel which is impressive to behold. If it right near the river and old courthouse so take the time to stop by
Londele White
The Gateway Arch is an architectural marvel. I recommend taking a ride on the elevator. It takes a brave person to ride the elevator up to the restaurant. While eating a meal, you can enjoy the breathtaking view. If you decide against an elevator adventure, a person keep their feet on the ground, where you can walk the grounds. A fee is charged by the National Park Service. We enjoyed the Gateway Arch, and other adjacent attractions.
Estephani Paredes
The Arch is such a fantastic park however it's always busy with long lines so prepare for a wait. They have security inside almost as equivalent to the airport. If you want to ride the boat tour you have to purchase the tickets online, instead of inside the Arch due to it being sold out fast. They have a documentary on how they were able to build the Arch if you into that. However the best this is the ride up to the top of the Arch! The view is amazing! However I don't recommend it if your claustrophobic they place you in the little spherical trolley ball which shakes and moves as you go up.
B Yerb
What an awesome experience!
I sometimes feel that some tourist attractions just aren't worth the price, but this was! I bought a package for the tram to the top and a river cruise for $32 each.
The Gateway Arch has so many exhibits in the museum that you can check out prior to or after your trip to the top.
Our tour guide for our ascend to the top was Christian - he really matched my energy and hyped us up for the experience.
You get some beautiful views at the top - the windows aren't very big so I feel like this is still a good option for people who are afraid of heights. You really don't feel like you're so high.
A must do in St. Louis.
Grant Langbauer
90 acres of beauty! The facility was very modern and cool! Get your tickets in advance so your not scrambling upon arrival. All Park Rangers were very helpful and friendly! Great place to watch the 4th of July fireworks 🎆. Parking however is a chore- so plan in advance. Bring snacks, drinks, chairs, blankets for the wait. Best to get there a couple hours early so to get prime viewing.
ALEXIA YESABEL VILLEGAS CONTRERAS
The Museum is interesting, come with 2 or 3 hours of time , and reserve the tickets of the ship 15 days before !
leslie veenstra
Amazing visit to an amazing site. Loved the spacious grounds around it and the underground museum. Very informative and tastefully laid out. Book the ride in advance if you'd like to take the ride up the Arch.
Stephanie Moore
One of our favorite cities! Took my first train ride since I was a little one. I captured these beautiful pictures than. Looking forward to going in September.
Will Hilliker
The park was clean and well maintained. Wonderful experience to see this beautiful landmark!
Xavier Barr
Felt good to be here. I rode in the south tram and everyone was socially distant and masked. I was greeted by a VERY enthusiastic tour guide and then I was off! It was a great ride and took some good pictures.
Travis C
Very archy.
Good place to spend a hour or two, nice grounds and view of the river. Museum and gift shop are a must see.
Didn't do the tr to the top as it was sold out for the day already. Plus, I'm terrified of heights...
Emily W
It was really cool to go up and look at the view but the ride up is not very comfortable. It is a very small space and sways back and forth a lot.
Nicholas Wells
Just an awesome site to see. The grandeur of this sculpture is breathtaking. I could have spent half the day sitting in it's shade just looking at it and taking in the park. If you get a chance, this is a must see/visit.
Parking was closed on the riverside, so just go up to 4th Street and Walnut and there's a parking garage just of of there.
Nancy Hui
Impressive and blinding, the arch is a must see. We did not go up for the views but stayed around the bottom since the park is very serene and relaxing. Located right on the river, there are plenty of photo ops and seats to enjoy it in its entirety.
Robert Jones
Must see! Educational, amazing, friendly and safe. Many forms of learning. Everything was clean and well presented. The park rangers were worth the visit, they were proud of their site and made you proud also. Recommend a visit if you haven't been to The Gateway Arch. Will be back to show off to others.
Millertime
It was a awesome place. The only thing we didn't like was the security was so confusing and congested bad. But for our 1st time being there it wasn't bad
Eric Speegle
It may just look like a silver arch. But even my friends who were not to enthused to go even enjoyed it. If history is your thing......well then this place is for you to because it's full of stories of the past. I loved it. From the Tram ride to the top. To the museum. It was well worth going to see. Just plan a few hours to enjoy all of it.
Julie Creech
Not a fan of tiny spaces, but so glad I made it up there. The views are spectacular!
Christyan Gudjenov
Beautiful place, go in the afternoon it is way less busy! Great area to walk around and explore too. The guided tours with the rangers are definitely worth it! I’d recommend the 115 tour, less busy and guide has much more time to talk.
Avi Abasov
Beautiful location and scenery. You can just walk around the park or go to the arc museum (free entrance). Going o the tram to the top is worth it and not too pricey ($14) but I highly recommend booking in advance since purchasing on the spot will have you in a minimum 1.5 hour wait list. Gift shop a bit pricey but understandable.
Amber
The museum is fun and the park and pond are a beautiful, relaxing area.
Jenny Kivitt
Cannot say enough about our experience! Friendly staff, clean, well run and exhibits were amazing. The tram and view from the top was magnificent! Highly recommend this adventure.
Reece Palmer
Great museum. Loads of information. It's underground and it's pretty cool
Alex Orchilles
Incredible landmark to visit when in St. Louis! If you have time I recommend going into it and to the top to see the entire city! Plan ahead though because they do sell out quickly!
Lucila Cejas
Truly iconic!! Check out the underground museum for a great history lesson.
Andrew Snell
The Gateway Arch commemorates U.S. westward expansion. Aside from the arch itself, this national park has 60-minute riverboat rides and a free museum. Exhibits focus on land acquisitions (like the Louisiana Purchase and Mexican War) and human migrations (like the California, Mormon, and Oregon trails). One exhibit also acknowledges consequences of expansion on native populations. I would definitely recommend this to people who are passing through.
Nicole Welsh
It's a very interesting site. The museum is informative and free, clean and air conditioned. Extremely disappointed that you have to book so far in advance to ride the tram up into the arch (literally like 6 weeks)!!!!
Ramon Allred
A must see, an experience you must, well, experience. Going up to the stop is fun, being up there and seeing far and wide is awesome. Everyone was so friendly and kind, they even put us on the highest tram car so our little kids didn't have too many stairs. There's food there, a shop , clean restrooms and even a fun museum.
Lili I
Spectacular. As usual I didn't have the time to truly explore it fully, like go to the top which I didn't know you could do. But it takes your breath away even from seeing it from the freeway. I was on a 4 hour layover and the airport was 35 minutes away but I HAD to visit it, and I'm glad I did. The pictures don't do it justice.
Marvel-ous.
Robert Seyer
I was here several times I'm the past and it was great then. Its even better with it's new renovation that happen a few years ago.
Lynn R
Great experience! A lot of covid safety protocols in place. Enjoyed our visit. Pricing reasonable. Not crowded. We will be back!
Andreas Kraus
Very nice national park, even when is it very small😂. Entrance area incl free museum are spacious. It has been my third time visiting The Arch. I'm always amazed by the architecture and the precision with which the monument was built in the middle of the last century. The views from the top of St. Louis and across the Mississippi to Illinois are fantastic
Diann Whitacre
My whole experience was excellent. My grandson and I had a great time. He was very impressed with the museum and the tram ride.
It was a wonderful day. Being able to spend the day with him is priceless. Thanks to all the staff. What great people.
Mary Savedbyhisgrace Wright
Very nice experience. It's alot of walking 🚶♂️ to get there but it was worth it …
david powell
For my first time being there, it was an astounding experience! Great destination for those wanting to explore and learn more about the great city of St. Louis. It's also a great date idea and surprisingly just a nice place to just chill. Fantastic all around! 😄 …
Athena L
Beautiful place to spend a sunny afternoon. Definitely purchase your tickets to go up in the arch early. They sell out quickly.
Rolf Shmidt
It's amazing what they could build in the 60's. It is still an amazing structure 60 years later, 600 feet high with an inclined elevator and some really strange moments for those who suffer from acrophobia up top as you are leaning out to look through the windows....Photography can be a lot of fun there, too bad they haven't worked on the banks of the Mississippi, the area between the river and the Arch could be so much better, take Pittsburgh as an example of how to turn industrial wasteland into a highly appealing riverfront.
Mary Reichert
Doors to the ride are small. If claustrophobic I would rethink it... Worth the time if your in the area.
Vivian Lee
I visited here a few years back and it was really cool the see the arch. At the time there was a federal shutdown, so it wasn't open. But I enjoyed the outside all the same. It was during the winter, so the snow made it look quite nice.
Omar Vazquez
Awesome place to visit! The views from the top are absolutely spectacular.
Joe Payne
Beautiful monument/Gateway. Museum is informational and takes about an hour to absorb everything. The wait time to ride to the top was 4+ hours - decided not to wait.
If you're in the area, go across the river and check it out from the Mississippi River Overlook. Beyond a nice view of the Arch and City, there is a live camera and website where you can see yourself.
Aung Myo Htut
When you hear St. Louis, you will see a high arch in the city. St. Louis and the arch cannot be separated and it is a symbol of St Louis. It's an iconic place in the Midwest. You should definitely visit at least once. You can climb to the top of the arch which is 650 ft above ground. It costs only $14 to go up for an adult. But you should book online to secure your place. You can also take a cruise in the mighty Mississippi river. You can purchase tickets via online or at the base of the arch. Such an engineering marvel. An Instagramable place to take pictures. The price now goes up to $17 for an adult. Masking is not mandatory now.
Rhonda Fischer
I have been to the Arch several times and it is always an amazing site to see. As you enter on either leg of the Arch, you are literally under the Arch grounds to the lobby/museum. On the ride up to the top of the Arch, the tram adjusts back to level as you go. When you get to the top, you enter a hallway with windows on either side. The windows overlook The Mississippi River and Illinois to the east and downtown to the west. This is truly a beautiful site to see. If you time it just right, you could see some of the sunset. This is a great thing to do if you ever get to St Louis! Don’t miss it!
kevin adams
...a great museum and family park...educational and eye opening...how the west was won...stole from native Americans...or stole from Mexican citizens...all 3 are presented...
well done!!
the trip up the arch is good
the grounds are beautifully laid out and massive...American parks are the best...top notch!
2nd visit and still in awe!
Mike Wight
Very cool experience, I was nervous about going so high up but once I was up there the nervousness went away . Great views.
Debbie Blesi
Highly enjoyed our visit. It was super foggy and no visibility at the top. That just gives us an excuse to come back.
josh thiroux
Top 5 road trips, stopped to stretch our legs, BBQ at world famous Snacks & Wets, no my tattoos did NOT hurt and it was smaller than I had imagined with crayons. #saveDOUG
David Knowlton
Second time and both times were educational and a great way to spend a few hours.
Movie was good and informative.
Riverboat was fun too. 4 hours of fun a
Tracy Bowker
We have been to the arch numerous times, when family comes into town, and it never disappoints. We usually purchase the tickets in advance and definitely get the movie before riding the tram to the top. It's a gem! Give yourself plenty of time to explore the museum and even get a bite to eat.
Susan Brown
Easily one of the best tourist experiences! The staff are so friendly and helpful, and combined with the riverboat tour, a great value for an inclusive, educational, fun experience with terrific customer service. Dan at the riverboat cruises was encouraging, informational, accomodating, friendly, and the captain and park ranger on the boat were awesome!
Sandy was our tour guide at the arch, and she was interested in every guest, engaging, entertaining, knowledgeable, passionate, loves her job, and friendly! Everyone there was fantastic! A great way to spend our afternoon in St Louis
Greg Sparks
Way more impressive in person, it always looked so small from pictures. Being there in person is well worth it, unfortunately we couldn’t get tickets due to them being reserved and we’re only there for a few days with a small amount of free time. But going up is definitely on the bucket list.
Jason Brown
I always wanted to visit the Gateway Arc to the West. It did not disappoint! Great place to visit!
zac a
Great way to see st Louis, very impressive this was built 60 years ago. Spent a few minutes at least in the western museum after it too.
Moving on with Old Man River Old man river
I took the last tram up to the top and it was a great ride. The view from the top is very nice. To see the boats on the Mississippi River and the casino across the river. Across the other side is the city of Saint Louis. The ranger at the top was very nice. WARNING. There are a lot of stairs expectedly if you get car 8. I got a junior ranger badge.. it was the 3rd of the day
Jackie
It was beautiful!!! We drove here on a girl's trip from NC. ( we visited other places and a few other states) Was just disappointed tickets were sold out to go up in it.
Kerri Jo Sweeney
My 3rd time to visit, this time we didn't go up in the arch because the wait was just a little to long and we had somewhere to be before we would have been back down. But there is so much to see in the underground museum which is fascinating and FREE (parking is $10) our guests from out of town were still very pleased. Highly recommend if you've never been! And if you're worried about being claustrophobic in the egg shaped elevator they have one you can sit in before ever purchasing tickets, keep in mind it has glass doors so it's not too bad :)
Connor Sturgeon
I've gone before a few years ago. It doesn't have too much to offer if you've already been before, but it's definitely cool if it's your first time. The tickets are reasonably priced and so is the food in the cafe, surprisingly. But for the amount of time it takes to go through the tour and get to the top, I can't say it's worth a revisit
Patrick Macaluso
We had an amazing time here. Despite being late for our reservation, they accommodated us no problem. Our tour guide Erin was very knowledgeable and personable and really enhanced the experience for us to a quality we didn't expect. They truly deserve a promotion! Thank you very much for making us feel so welcome and cared for!
Amy M
Great time. Fun ride to the top. Worth the $19 and the museum is quite educational too
Andy Cooper
The gateway arch is a triumph of engineering as well as a monument to the gateway to the west.
The film about the creation of the arch is worth watching.
Renee H
It feels like you are going to the airport at first. They send you and your stuff through an xray scanner at the start. The exhibition hall is all about the history of Missouri the Mississippi and finally the arch. It is very text heavy. You can get tours from the rangers too. You end in a place that again feels and looks like an airport. A little Cafe, gift shop, and ticket sales for a ride up to the top of the arch. I settled for the simulation and then went to see the arch outside. Very cool. The rest of the park is sterile, governmental. No flowers, not even any birds chirping in the trees. By the edge of the Mississippi you can play on some steam boats and get helicopter rides. This area was kind of blah, but it was cool to see what looked like original giant bricks lining the edge of the river.
Constance Johnson
Great icon for Saint Louis. The new improvements to the Arch grounds are impressive.
Elizabeth Ronan
Definitely see the movie first, ride to the top of the Arch and then really check out the museum. Good prices in the gift shop and concession area.
Lisa Greiman
What a great National Park to visit, I can check this one off my list now! Seriously, it's a nice treasure of a park in downtown St Louis within walking distance to the Busch Stadium where the Cardinals play! Park Rangers & all the staff were so very kind & helpful. Clean & well kept. Beautiful views from the very top! If you haven't been, you need to take the time to visit & see for yourself. You can't miss it, it's right on the Mississippi River!
Michael Price
Excellent place to explore history. The Arch is beautiful and magnificent. The museum is enriching with its historic items and and displays. There's food and a gift shop too. I highly recommend this place.
Joe S
Awesome. Worth a visit even if passing through. Take a ride to the top!
James Wood
Beautiful sight. Tram was sold out. It sells out fast so buy your tickets in advance.
Kelly D.
My first visit to Missouri and I could not wait to see the Gateway Arch. Absolutely amazing views had a great time.
Michael Hagmeier
Great views of the city and Metro East. Plan on at least an hour for the whole experience.
Tammy Paternoster
2nd time Back! Amazing Place! So fun for the Kids too! Great for a Weekend Getaway!
Kevin Mielke
I ended up in St Louis for a concert and needed to find something to do with the afternoon so we headed to the arch and it was a great experience. I loved seeing the history in the museum below and the view at the top was great. The tour guide said they stay open during thunderstorms, I wish I had the opportunity to go up there during one. We booked our tickets online and everything was on schedule. Make sure to book your parking online too because if there is an event downtown you may end up paying event parking rates. If I had to complain I'd say the parking ramps are to far away but on a nice day it isn't a big deal.
Phil Jones
If you're in St Louis you have to go that's all there is too it. There is a nice museum and a food court. Admission to that is free. You have to pay around $15 to ride to the observation area.
Alfred Perales
My family and I were visiting from AZ and this was the place we had to visit before heading back. It was so grand to witness in person. And to think that it's been standing for so long. A real piece of history. The view from the top is a must see. I'm so glad we were able to experience it.
Ray C
They take the social distancing serious. Not too crowded on Saturday afternoon. They allow ten minutes up in the Arch. The museum is informative.
Katelyn White
This time around, I only walked around the base a bit and didn't take the venture up to the top like I did last time.
As others warn, the car taking you up to the top is extremely tight and if you have any sort of claustrophobia, probably not the best place. Plus, the top of the arch is very crowded and you have to stake for a spot to look out. Very interesting landmark regardless and one to have on your vacation list.
Reese H
The tram to the top was worth every penny. I wish. I could have stayed up there longer than the 10 minutes allotted. We were allowed to enter the museum without a mask but had to wear one up the tram.
Garrison
Amazing, chilly, November visit. So impressed by the well organized logistics of groups going up and down the arch. Worth the visit!
Avijit Mukherjee
I go there once in a year, preferably during spring or fall. Summers are little too hot there.
The Tram ride always fascinates me. The arch museum is very interesting and informative. I also like the souvenir shop for their collection of mementos and souvenirs. And last but not the least, to sooth our soul we always spend some time with the family seating under a tree near to the pond.
Henry Chin
Was in St Louis over the 4th of July weekend. Up close, the arch is very impressive . Did not get a chance to go up the arch since the all the tickets have been sold out. The tram going up the arch is tiny. Your only at the top for about 10-15 minutes before you have to leave. At the bottom of the arch there is a museum. Since it’s a national monument, there’s security screening that you need to go through.
Bill Robinson
We went here on July 18, 2021. Parked at Laclede's Landing Lot on 1st & Morgan, which is a few blocks north of the Park's property. The cost of the parking on a Sunday was $6.00 for the full day. Everything was well-organized during our visit. The entrance is underground and is west of the arch, so if you get there early and are standing at the base, walk toward the city to get to the entrance and follow the directions they have on the ground. There are very few signs on posts near the arch.
Plan on not getting to the top of the Arch for at least 15 minutes after your tram reservation time. There is plenty to look at in the Arch Museum before and after your ride to the top. You will only be allowed at the top for 10 minutes, which you may think is a short time, but it really is a perfect amount of time. There are only two views to see from the top of the Arch. You can either look out the west-facing windows at the city or the east-facing windows at the River. If you are tall like me, you might be a little uncomfortable. I'm seven feet tall and could not stand fully upright at the top of the Arch. The doorway to the tram is only 4 feet high, and as seen from my pictures, the tram is quite small. The staff does a wonderful job of explaining the boarding process and cleaning the tram cars every time the cars reach the bottom. I did not notice if they also cleaned them at the top. Definitely worth the visit.
Garrett R.
Great place to stop and take in the sites. AC was working hard in the museum underneath the arch Park.
Harry Bartlett
Had an amazing experience here. Never realized that you could make a whole day out of being at the arch. We did the tram ride and the boat ride. Went through the museum. Tried the food in the Cafe. It was a great experience.
Trish Lents
Had a great time celebrating our anniversary. Lots of steps which was not so good for me but everything else was just fine.
Byron Merida
A great was to spend an hour or two when you are in St. Louis. Cheap admission with multiple add-ons if you want to do them. Breath-taking view from the top of the arch. Plus the museum is definitely a nice treat. Fun for the whole family!
Crystal Compton
its fun. View is great. Long wait though. We were there at 11am and couldn't go up until 4:45. Karyn at the ticket desk is the best! She helped us reprint our tickets after we lost them.
Dans Flying
Wow, what a great museum highlighting the importance of St. Louis and trade. The view from the top was 🔥.... It was windy when we got up there and you could really feel it swaying lol. …
Dado Samac
I expected more but I had more fun in museum part/ history than taking a ride to the top of the arch. Once you get to the top you look left and than you look right and go back. 😉😂. Bar or a restaurant would be nice . Not to bad but nothing to exciting. …
Jayson Slobodzian
A day at the park with family or loved ones. This is a great place to have a picnic, enjoy the river, or just spend time with special people in your life. Going up is very cool, but the park itself is a joy on it's own.
Kim N
We visited the museum and were so impressed! It is huge, well laid out, and chock full of great information. I love that it's free to enter and they have great security protocols upon entry. The gift shop is also large, clean, bright and full of options. The staff went the extra mile by recommending a USPS drop location nearby (in front of the Hyatt) when I bought a post card with stamps. They have a large cafe and huge, clean bathrooms. We didn't go up in the arch, but would love to come back and do it. If you're planning to, don't forget to bring your America the beautiful pass if you have one to get a small discount on tickets.
Gabrijel Broder
Great monument! Awesome views from the top!
mmkamou
Nice place to visit when in St louis parking spot available near the Lac.
Helicopter 🚁 ride available. Nice place for a family and couples stops …

For most people just seeing it from the outside is your best value. If you have any knowledge of American history and manifest destiny the museum in the base of the arch isn't worth your time. The ride to the top is a fun novelty but the view is a bit disappointing. There is nothing spectacular to see on the Illinois side unless you're a fan of interstate highways and urban decay. The St. Louis side offers more to see but will not blow you away and you'd be better off watching a YouTube video of someone else visiting.

It's one of those parks that once you've seen it there's no reason to return. Pretty view from the top of the arch of the grounds and the Mississippi. Museum is good quality and I appreciate the amount they talked about Native Americans in it. They could use more signs for where to park and where to enter the arch at.

Iconic landmark with a great view and fun photo shoots. Definitely worth stopping if on a road trip or visiting St. Louis!

Not much to add here, except there is an excellent diorama museum in the basement of the arch that you could spend half a day in! In a city full of museums this is one of the top ones not to miss! Oh, and great views 😎 …

This is a definite must for anyone around St Louis, anyone interested in US history, or anyone who likes unique things. The views are breathtaking, the museum is thought provoking, and the entire experience is enjoyable and downright fun. 10/10 would recommend.

Spectacular view from the top of the Arch and facilities are very clean. The museum is also well clean and presented. I highly recommend it..

Beautiful display of architecture and engineering. Especially well before computers to do all the work. Great views, quick lines, and an enjoyable experience for all ages. Now understand that you take a very small tram up to the top which will not allow large people or handicap people in wheel chairs or with walkers get in and out easily. It reminds me of a 60's space capsul. They might seat 5, but it's a tight 5. But the ride up is only 4 minutes and you can look at the architecture of the insides while traveling to the top. Well worth the money. .
