Reviews of Museum of Natural History and Planetarium
Great experience coming here on the weekend before my birthday. They had a large quantity of taxidermy animals from all over the world that really showed the history of our planet. They had some fossils, seashells, and every animal that I could think of and more. I thought the interactive parts were very interesting and although I wasn’t able to see the telescope which was sad I’ll definitely be back!
As an inexpensive and enjoyable activity, this museum provided a nice arrangement of local and national exhibit items. Some were a little lacking in education of value, but the conservatory nature of some elements, combined with the well done shows on Native American objects proved to be ample. A quick tour lasted about an hour, although I'm sure that you could spend more than that here.
It’s a nice museum to visit while you’re in providence area. It’s smaller than the Smithsonian museum but there are a lot of interesting exhibits. We paid $2 per person for the ticket. There are 5 different rooms to view.
I really enjoyed the Planetarium show! It’s such a cute little spot to visit and spend some time with seeing the exhibits here. I liked that the planetarium show reflects what the constellation and stars would be like to the forecast / alignment of the stars and planets for that season.
It’s certainly well worth the $2 ticket fee. It’s worth it for the gigantic taxidermy polar bear/brown bear hybrid alone! The majority of the museum is taxidermy which isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. I really liked the Oceania exhibit.
Nice history musuem with a variety of exhibits. Our kids enjoyed the scavenger hunt and the $2 admission with easy free parking was much appreciated.
Very affordable and welcoming, charming museum on the smaller side. We enjoyed walking around looking at the relics and the animals. The presentation during the Planetarium event was very informative. We enjoyed our visit and made more treasured memories during our vacation.
Beautiful Victorian building housing a small natural history collection focusing on Southwest New England. Only $2 to get in. Great bargain.
Cute little spot to stop if your in the area. Lot to learn about wildlife and space. Glad i went!
We attended the Haunted Mansion event. Bathrooms were 2 outdoor port-a-potties that smelled and weren't lighted. I wouldn't use them. Disappointed that we couldn't use restrooms inside the building. No way for people to wash their hands in a pandemic was a bad choice on the part of the venue. The experience was good. Mildly scary. Lots of opportunities for more scary people to jump out of hidden places. Very quick to go through, probably 15 minutes in total. The exhibits looked interesting and we'll be back to see the museum during the day sometime.
Interesting exhibits, but it’s kind of small. If you want tickets for the planetarium, you need to buy tickets in advance.
Great museum nestled away in Roger williams Park!!
For what it's worth. They mentioned that they just had an update in their software for the Planetarium and it turned out to be a very informative presentation. Even though the lighting for the mineral display was lacking, I would still give them 5 stars.
cute little museum. the price tag meant i could easily decide to kill an hour or two here. the collection and information presented was solid & tailored to the area, & staff was nice!
Great little museum to visit on an odd day, lots of cool taxidermy animals and carved Polynesian artifacts. Great place to spend a few hours and be sure to check out their seminars on the various museum exhibits.
They are so affordable that it is like going for free! Honestly because of the price I thought this place would be lame , but it wasn't it was interesting and fun especially on a winter day and u feel like getting out .
I think they should have a full gift shop with a quick snack bar ( popcorn and drinks ) just to bring some more money into the museum so that they can improve it a bit ...if they improved it a bit and charged $5 more to get in it would be worth returning to .
Otherwise it is a one time visit kind of place... definitely worth the price and at least going once
Thoroughly impressed with the RWP Natural history museum, admittedly my expectations were low because of the small size & only a $2 admission, but I wasn’t disappointed! Absolutely a great hidden gem in RI. Check it out!
& for $3 there is a planetarium show (ages 4 and up).
Have been here a few times. Great to take school aged children. Lots of taxidermy animals, a space exhibit, and a very cool honey bee exhibit where you can peak into a real working beehive..very well priced! Only a few dollars for a days activity. For the price it can not be beat!
Went here with my dad and younger brother. It's a nice little museum, for Rhode Island it's exciting for my 8 year old brother. He loved it. Exhibits are very musty and dusty and old. All the information is very out of date. Floor creaks everytime you take a step. It made me very uncomfortable to walk through rooms full of taxidermied animals, as I'm a vegetarian and I love animals, it would be better if there were more physical artifacts in the natural history section. I hated that area. However, I loved the planetarium and the space exhibits, both were so cool!
I've always liked going here as a kid.😊 And as an adult, bringing my kids and now grandchildren. There's quite a bit of interesting history to learn about. Alot of ppl outside of RI would learn a great deal. Love to draw some of the pictures they have here. It's an awesome place. Small, but very nice building and layout. In one of the 2 Roger Williams Park's. Very historical.
Really neat, small museum. Reminds me of older Smithsonian. Love the Victorian charm.... something from our past century of discovery.
Always a pleasure. Had a lovely discussion with a couple members of the conservancy. Hope they can implement a couple of our suggestions. Bring back the pony carts and Sunday in the Park!
My 9 year old nephew loves this place and always wants to come back.
I love whoever added Blathers around the museum! 💕 …
This a hidden gem in Rhode Island. Small, but enough to keep you busy for 2hr max.
Lovely small taxidermy collection with lots of Victorian charm. Only takes about about 1 hour to see it all. Nice rainy day alternative to the park, educational
This place has interesting exhibits and is only $2 to enter. We spent just over an hour and was glad we took the time to visit.
Not a great natural history museum but is a nice community asset and worth a stop in, might not be very interesting to younger children but good for a couple of hours.
Victorian era taxidermy curated to narrate modern Life with wildlife. A planetarium, minerals, some space stuff. Visit for $2?!
Cute little museum with many stuffed birds and some good displays. Only $2 so worth stopping in with small children.
Definitely go during normal hours. There's so much to see. Tonight was a little short.
Nice Museum but need more popularity and help from goverment. Amazing location and building with worth visiting items
A little small but amazing value for the $2 price tag. I recommend adding the planetarium for the extra dollar.
The museum is great, but we really went there for the planetarium. We have a 3 1/2 year old and a 1 year old, and there is a 4 year age minimum for the planetarium.
Very cool
Wonderful! Kids learned so much and did not want to leave!
Learned about history and solar system
A little underwhelming but the price is good so it's good for an hour out :)
Great small museum for kids. Excellent price
This museum has so much to see! Low admission costs makes it worth repeated visits!
this museum is my favorite to volunteer at because i donate my fossils there
Great museum to visit. Very informative, and great for families!
This was so much fun. The staff was great and the planetarium show was great!
It was not maintained well. Excellent collection of birds
Cute little museum. But the planetarium show is SO worth it!!!!!!
A Nice old Museum located in Roger Williams Park. Free Parking
Tired old school natural history museum. Taxidermy shows it's age.
Aaaa l loved it I even pinshed my self just to see I wasent dreaming

(Translation) A must visit in New York City, it is a very interesting place, although I must admit that some areas of the museum lack maintenance.
