Reviews of The Freakybuttrue Peculiarium and Museum
Black Widow
Firstly, the staff here is an absolute treasure. Made the start of our day fantastic. Wish I'd got your name but you were a delight. 🤩 This is a fun diversion and a great value for the entrance fee. You're sure to find something amazing in the gift shop.. …
Desiree Watson
Was well worth the $5 admission.
A bit silly, "museum" might be a bit of an exaggeration but go with a good friend and I bet you'll have a great time, definitely some interesting stuff among the fantastical displays. Some really great artwork too.
The gift shop is full of funny stuff and honestly this hanging onto the ledge of a building photo alone is worth $5 easy
Janae McL
My son likes odd things and Halloween so he was excited, but nervous to go in. The employees were fun and kind. We got in for $5 on a Wednesday which was a nice treat for a family of 3. Small but interesting. I took away a star because there wasn’t much true more freaky. Don’t miss the cool laser area.
Sofia Currin
Y’all this place is the bomb dot com. Full of fun and goofy and cool and wild attractions and art! So many stunning art pieces and their gift shop is a hoot. They do require masks and it can get a little hot and cramped but go stand by the fan, and you’re all good. Really friendly staff too!
Matt Hand
Awesome customer service. Great place, despite how small it is. Lots of really cool things to look at and take pictures with. Had a great time and got some cool, cheap souvenirs. Definitely recommend checking it out. Best $7 I've spent in a long time.
mercy wenzel
AMAZING!!! first off, you have to acknowledge the prices. seven dollar tickets!! and five dollars on tuesdays and wednesdays. amazing! though it is small place, you will not be bored! there are many photo opportunities and things to look at everywhere you turn (an adhd person's dream). there is also a cafe with various snacks and drinks that also have incredible prices. as the prices of everything else in this world go up, this place remains affordable! they have a spectacular gift shop with items that range from cheap to expensive, lots of selections. i personally got a mystery bag for 5$, and i won't reveal what was in the bag, but i think it was definitely worth more than five dollars. the customer service was absolutely incredible, i will be coming by again!
Lauren Lindauer-Clark
Such a quirky "spooky" store. Great humor in their descriptions of the items and plenty of photo opportunities whether it be with Krampus, Big Foot, aliens, or you hanging off the side of a building 😂. The gift shop is also filled with some unique gems. Trust me, just shell out the 5-7$ and give it a look. My sister is a local and had never been here before, but she was so glad I suggested it

Wonderful Portland oddity that has kept it's self a quiet secret for to long. They have a packed museum with so much to see you have to go a second time. I love there tchotchke shop, the comics a crazy fun along with the shirts and everything else they are selling. Not hard on the wallet and it's just a short drive there and once you are done you can walk NW 23rd.
Kathryn Ozburn
A wild and spooky adventure with oddities and peculiarities abound! It's just shy of spooky and incredibly entertaining! If you are visiting Portland you must absolutely come here!
Abbie D
My friends loved this, but it seemed a little small to be charging people $7+ to visit. It’s basically a small store set up a bit like a spook alley with a bunch of weird things. Granted, the stuff inside IS cool, I just don’t feel it was worth the money I paid.
B P
The $5 admission price is worth it. Lots of peculiar cultish things that brings back nostalgia and laughter. Be sure to come with a buddy or two or three to enjoy this place with!
Doug Fischer
Fun pit stop while we were bored walking around (visiting Portland on vaca). We got our 30 minutes of kicks here, very quirky stuff but I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a little mindless entertainment. Walking down 23rd (which was a popular street), this was just about at the end and a good last stop before heading back to the hotel.
Emily Garcia
Me and my boyfriend really liked being silly and taking funny pictures together. There was so many different things to look at and take pictures of too. Friendly staff and fun experience.
Dan Hardesty
The Peculiarium should be a definite stop on anyone's visit to Portland. From the life size Krampus and giant Bigfoot to the awesome alien abduction photo op and fantastic gift shop, this must-see destination is worth the extremely reasonable admission fee. So much to see and such a friendly staff will definitely bring me back if and when I get to Portland again. Thanks so much, it was great fun!
Elizabeth Brenneman
It’s a great place to get pictures! Only $5 to go through. Takes about 15 minutes if you check out all the things. Creative, tacky, corky, silly, great for kids.
Adrian Honner
Our last day in Portland so we decided to go for a walk, this place was so good!! Fun, quirky and freaky! They also let us know they just opened "Hanger 13" down the street, we were the first to see it, another very cool adventure, if you're in the area, do stop in!
Krystle McD
For 7 dollars, it's an absolute no brainer if this is your kind of thing. Hubs was gleeful and impressed with the displays, fun little spot off the beaten path.
Cooper Hakimoglu
Awesome place to check out if you are in town. Lots of cool history to learn as well as fun times to be had. Nice gift shop as well, and the person behind the counter seemed very kind and helpful.
zach domer
Fun place to spend an hour and buy a few weird gifts. It's like a weird little curiosity house and the people who work there are nice.
George Hastings
Two rooms of bizarre but interesting "stuff".
Good for a single visit. Can see everything in fifteen minutes, so it's a good choice if you have limited time.
Mikayla McAdams
Fun little spot in the weird city, and (yes!) dog friendly. $5 admission but free if you wear a decent costume. Several interactive exhibits and photo opportunities, including with Krampus (see below) and Big Foot. Though it is only a few rooms, there are many items along the walls and in cases. Lots to see if you really take your time. There is also a small area with oddities and merchandise for sale.
Some logistics: on the first floor and appears wheelchair accessible. There is a bathroom for customers if needed. They do take cash and debit/credit. Parking is street parking but, as it is not located on the main street, it wasn't very difficult to locate parking (was paid through an app). It is close to other stores and restaurants which made it our first stop on a walk to check out some other spots.
Ryan Ou
A small interesting museum, but it's not worth visiting from afar, you can visit if you are around.
Maya Nyssa
This is a very cute, humorous, but tiny novelty shop with "exhibits." Many of the items displayed are for sale. It's very kitsch and very Portland with friendly staff. I knocked off one star for its size versus how much it costs to enter the museum (which takes up most of the square footage) and another for it being difficult to maneuver in some areas is you use a mobility aid. I think it's a fun little place but one visit is enough.
Susan Williams
Went here for the first time a couple months ago. It’s small, but loads of fun and worth the 5 bucks. Gift shop is amazing and well-priced. Lots of amazing art, stickers, postcards, magnets. It’s worth it just for the gift shop.
Shannon “Shannannigans83” Hughes
Absolutely lovely gallery. Lots of really cool stuff to look at!!!
I've been here several times over the years and each time is super fun!
We always take lot of selfies.
Masks are required, and provided if you don't have one with you.
Parking can be a hassle, but it's not impossible.
Ross Greiner
Yes, it's peculiar. Yes, it's cringy. Yes, it goofy. Yes, it's so much fun. We had a fantastic time, and the staff was super cool to chat with. One person in particular (forgot the name, I'm afraid!) took the time to give us great directions and suggestions for lunch, hikes, and other things to do in town. We took both the lunch and hike advice and had a fantastic afternoon!
Cristopher Livecchi
So much fun packed into this little spot! If you're into the odd and offbeat, check it out -- funny, creepy, kitschy, and quirky all in one. Friendly staff and a great selection of merch round it out nicely. And take your time; there's lots to see.
Jillian Rybalsky
Some really cool stuff here... For sure!! You get one tiny room to look at, and one small one. Let's face it -- It's not a lot. But what is there is super cute and totally weird! For $5 and about 20 minutes to get through, it's worth it if you're in the area and your into this kind of thing.
Melanie Gannon
Fun little place, emphasis on the little, but ticket was only $5 on Tuesday. Not a bad way to spend a half hour.
Walter Stearns
Storefront walk through novelty art installation. Cute photo opportunities. We brought my in laws because I love to open their eyes/minds. We parked out front and were warned about car break-ins. It made me nervous about visiting. I would have felt better about it if we came in the daylight. Beware Krampus.
Jessica Metters
Super cool place!!! The kids loves it and so did we! You can interact with most of the exhibits and they ha e some super cool artwork and postcards for sale!!! I highly recommend a stop when you're in Portland!!!
Stacey Riley
Visited the disc golf course on a recommendation from another user. It was our first time playing. Other players were super helpful and accommodating. The course was not too busy, shady with all the trees, easy to follow and just a bit dusty. Worked well for our first experience.
Steve Asplund
They named the place right, Portland's Freakybuttrue Peculiarium is exactly what it is, a place to check out that helped give the city the nickname "Keep Portland Weird". A self guided tour with quite a few things to look at, read about and see, once you have been there and seen everything, you will say one and done. Great place for taking pictures with your friends and not too big to take up your whole day. We saw everything in about 45 minutes.
Ashley Atwood
We had a great time hanging out and checking this out! It would be cool if it were bigger. But we loved that it was interactive, and informative in a fun way! One of Portlands fun hidden treasures!!!!
Eric Meyer
Interesting place with some wild things to look at. Entry has an odd smell. Spent about 30 minutes there. Maybe worth the $7 fee one time but wouldn't visit again.
Julie Ward
Ohhhh yeahhhh!!! This place ROCKS!!! Stuffed full of amazing and peculiar items to enjoy with your eyeballs, along with several interactive displays and plenty of photo ops! There's a little gift shop on your way out. But make sure to circle back around and take a second look, because I missed SO much the first time around.
Darrin LeBlanc
Lots of fun things to see and do. You can see the origins of a Meow Wolf experience forming in someone's mind. Meaning the cat/wolf place may have come to this funky awesome little place to get some inspiration. 😁 …
Pe Me
Not nearly as cool as I had hoped...most of the pictures you see are from the museum which occupies most of the building and costs 7 bucks to see... the "gift shop" amounts to a few admittedly weirdly cool postcards, posters and a tiny selection of handmade Sculpy objects...I was hoping for something more akin to Paxton Gate which is just diwn the street. Its...just okay.
Jenny Xu
This place is amazing. As a horror fanatic this was such a cheap but thrilling adventure! Located not too far away from downtown Portland it’s such a cute spot to hang out with friends if they aren’t too scared. I really enjoyed how some of these exhibits were interactive and we could go inside a fake burial or have fun taking photos with the cut up corpses. The place is small but the exhibits are tightly packed! Would come again!
Chris Sotraidis
For the size and what is contained within, I was blown away. It's just a weird collection, like a giant cabinet of curiosities. And the people running the place have a great sense of humor. Don't come in here expecting a 2 hour long museum tour. This is a small space packed the brim with odd things. It's hard to know what 'facts' posted are indeed facts, and that's the point. Odd little place, totally worth a visit. And yes, reading what is written inside makes the experience better.
sam knutson
Big movie monsters, bug collections, bigfoot, participate in an alien autopsy.
There's a satellite dish painted with radium and a laser pointer on a string that might be the coolest thing in the whole thing. Don't hang out in there all day- cancer. Anyhoo, soper fun small but with a whole extra building with a legit sleestack. Bring somebody to take your picture. Squash currency. Five bucks. Free to shop. Kill an hour. Have a few laughs.
David L.
Very cool little spot, all kinds of weird and wacky stuff shoved into one little building. Definitely worth a visit.
irenencurdie
Great exhibits, off-beat. Worth a trip if you share their sense of humor. There are useful safety tips to protect yourself from zombie attacks and informative displays on what happens to your stolen organs. How can you not use that information?
Layne Doyle
Awesome spot with a fun loop of unique surprises. The employee I spoke with was friendly and informative of all they had to offer. Not a bad location and definitely worth the stop while in Portland! Some really great finds in there for purchase. I certainly left with a few things!
Taylor Broussard (Taylor)
An interesting experience with a lot of thought having gone into the exhibits. Definitely a memorable place.
Deniz Turkmen
Even though it looks small, this place is packed with fun and weird stuff. Fun for the whole family. Some props allow posing, silly photo opportunities here and there. If you are in Portland area, pay a visit. Worth the small admission fee.
Andy Lee
very cute and quirky shop and museum. it’s small in size but only $5, so definitely a good way to spend a morning or an afternoon! staff was friendly!
Tara T
I saw this place on a list of things to do when visiting Portland. The museum and shop is small, but worth it. Admission is only 5$. It was a bit outside the downtown Portland area, but just a short drive away. There were lots of random creepy things to look at and you can pretty much find something new each time you turn. It is small, but there are a lot of elements in here so if you take your time, you won't lose interest.
There is a fake coffin in which you can lie down and experience the sensation of being buried alive. There are also cute little activities or closer looking opportunities throughout the museum. Even the restroom has its quirks. I've definitely never seen any museum like this and I'm so glad I decided to come visit.
Eli PDX
This is definitely a "must go" on your "Keep Portland Weird" tour.
It's one of the last of Portland's hidden gems. Non-corporate, independently owned, and delightfully campy, this place is a quick stop for the whole family.
Admission is free if you go in costume and well behaved dogs on leash can enter.
There's a cute gift shop in the front you can visit to purchase a bunch of weird and wonderful books, T-shirts, posters, and edible bug candies.
Go with a sense of adventure and humor.
It reminds me of a funky roadside attraction.
T Clark
Not for younger kids. This ticked the "Keep Portland Weird experience" box on my checklist of things to see while in the City of Roses. I don't like ugly/ suspenseful/gory/horror/ sacrilegious anything-- I'm a big chicken that found Jumanji scary BUT! I think this is place is totally worth visiting.
Lots of fun photo opportunities and I appreciated the staff's willingness to help you get a good photo and show us around. Quirky things to make you laugh and interesting postcards to send back home. Support small businesses :)
Bobbie Jo
A fun place to spend an hour in Portland and get some nice pictures. It’s small but very worth it. There are lots of things to interact with and to notice. We circled back a second time to make sure we didn’t miss anything.
Kaycee Bassett
What a vibe! This was the first place we checked out on our way into Portland for the week since it was $5 Wednesday. Super fun, spooky, and tons to take pictures with and touch. We went back on the last day of our trip just to go to the gift shop for some fun things.
Megan Boyd
A few things have changed since I was there last about five years ago. The Peculiarium will always represent the true, free spirit of Portland, OR.
Friendly staff, very fair prices on strange little knick knacks. Plus, they have the best dollhouse in the history of all creation.
RamRunner Rob (Big Foot Rob)
Worth checking out! Some really cool items. Some creepy and others really cool. Definitely some place I would go again.
Amanda Guthrie
My daughter enjoyed it. For myself and my husband we had lower expectations. They did have a few amusing items in the gift shop and a large Krampus that she posted for photos with. She almost never allows photos of herself and she asked for a photo with him. There were other props to pose for photos and the people working were friendly.
If you go in with a 15-20 min walk through time planned, it would be enough plus however long you take in the small gift shop. Overall I think it was worth what is charged and we did have fun.
brandy rose
This place was so cool! Only one floor but plenty to take in. They even have a little gift shop which I was in love with. The staff was friendly as well.
Amanda Vivrette
Probably my favorite museum/mystery shack ever. The exhibits and the gift shop were worth the trip. See what it's like to be buried alive! Confuse children as they try to figure out a rotary telephone! Alien autopsies!
I left with a cookie-esque fortune, a salt shaker shaped like Idaho, and a poster showing Big Foot charging at you foaming at the mouth whilst firing two machine guns into the air [which is truly amazing].
Definitely worth the $5 entry fee (it's free if you wear a costume when you visit).
Ian McClane
Never a dull moment touring the displays at this one of a kind place. Take your time there is plenty of detail to see.
Lettuce Taco Bout ‘it
Not bad for $5. I think the website is cooler than the actual museum. It's like walking through a well lit Halloween house. Lots of Bigfoot art, cheesy gift store. Got a confession? Toss it in the box and grab your fortune on the way out..
Jordan R
Definitely a super interesting place. Wish they had more sizes of merch. I was not able to get anything and they only had one thing in my boyfriends size
Brandy Nelson
Really fun things to see and do. Photo ops! Good food and drink nearby in a fun neighborhood!
Ramvira
It's a fun, affordable stop to see art, weird collections and fun Monsters. Right now they have a Krampus you can take pics with! I have to go back, I know I didn't see everything :)
Rebecca Odom
Such an awesome gem!! And a totally fun way to spend some time if you are short on cash! Only $5 to get in and tons of fun photo ops!! The guy working the counter when we went was really awesome and helpful.
Kelly Miller
More fun than the body can stand! Bring your pets, bring your kids, bring your Great Grandma! And bring them I'm costume for free admission and let the good times roll. There's something for everybody.
Kael T.
I’ve wanted to visit for a while now. I liked this place a lot. Don’t expect a big museum. It’s small but full of fun, art, wonder and laughter.
Katrina Ricalday
It's a fun little spot to kill 30 mins or so. Would be pretty cool if it were bigger.
Echo !
I visited this attraction last year and loved it so so much!! I ordered from the website and received lots of free gifts along with my order, thank you so much!! Definitely coming back here this year :)
Trachemysta
I always heard amazing things about this place and the reviews looked terrific. That is why I was so disappointed when I got there and found out entrance is not allowed in the store anymore for covid reasons. You only get to have a glimpse of only a tiny fraction of their stuff, as it is shown outside the store as a display. You cannot see anything from the street so coming is currently useless, do not waste your time until they fully reopen.
Kay
Awesome little stop while in portland. Won't see anything like this anywhere else. Has a confession box and cool little souvenirs and post cards. The zombie room was awesome and unexpected. I was looking forward to it the whole trip and am not dissapointed!
Jessica Main
This was so much fun! I looked up weird things to do in Portland and found this. I am from Salem and have never heard of it and was excited to go. And at $5 it was well worth it. Thank you for keeping Portland weird.
Mike Owens
Was a fun little "museum". Lots of things on walls and everywhere. Definitely take your time going through, so you don't miss anything. Wish it was bigger for sure. But worth going to see.
Robin Knauerhase
It's not huge, but it's quite entertaining for $5. Much cool stuff to look at & an extensive shop at the end.
Jeremy Caldwell
Absolutely terrific collection of odd things and interesting experiences! Fun gift shop with no entrance fee containing custom art and funny gags. $5 fee to get inside to see the items is nothing! It’s not a huge space but very diverse and fun collection. We’ll be back!
Angel Gonzalez
Free gift shop! 5$ small walk through. Worth it.
The museum has a bunch of cool weird things. Artistic and just strange
Carl Q
Worth the trip.
Cool stuff.
Alex Chab
Entertaining, mostly free and a neat spot if you're looking for the weird sides of Portland. Unimpressed with the big ice cream but it made for a fun dare on the cheap.
Family Sherrer
Fun little quirky spot. A great place to take your family if you like unusual things. It's $5 pp and a block from great restaurants on 23rd in Portland.
K W
Definitely need to check this place out once while in Portland. Kinda tacky but I think that adds the the experience. Great area right by mcmenamins 23rd ave bottle shop and great coffee shops.
Eric Klingbeil
Short but fun and interesting! Good photo opts with pop culture and weird items!
Cassidy Anderson
Really cool museum! Lots of fun little things to do and see.
Melissa LeClaire
Well spent $5. Lots of fun things to check out. The gift shop is petty cool too.
A S
Pretty cool, very small museum. Worth the $5 to wander around and they have some awesome items in the gift shop.
Phillip Wilson
Very interesting walk through only $7.
Danelle O'Neall
What a fun place for only $5. All sorts of random displays, such as Star Trek memorabilia and horror movie models. There are plenty of photo opportunities, including taking a selfie with Krampus, standing tall with Bigfoot, or being autopsied by aliens. This is not a large place, and only takes about 20-30 minutes to get through. There is a lot of oddity art here, such as paintings, sculptures and hanging faces, which seems to be reasonably priced. They also have vintage post cards, and old black and white photos if you’re in to that kind of thing. Check it out if you like the bizarre or unusual.
Patricia Salazar
Loved this place! Super cute and quirky. Nice little pit stop.
Jessica Enriquez
This was definitely an interesting exhibit! Super quirky! Was a nice quick stop, before we headed to the shops. There's an admission fee. The little shop there, has funny, interesting things you can buy too!
Lubica Brown
Super awesome! I went there with my friend to show him the great city of Portland and he loved it. Wouldn't recommend bringing young children there.
James Warren
If you're appreciate weird stuff... Be sure to check out the museum. Freakybuttrue's satisfied my hunger for weird! Check out their ice cream toppings! Yummmmm!
Brandi Kenny
It's definitely worth $5 and there is tons of cool artwork I wish I could afford to buy. The gift shop has some cool stuff and took some great pics of my son.
eric teeter
The only downfall was we went on a day when it was in the mid 90's and they had no a/c so it was hotter than $hit in there. Looking forward to going back when it's a lot cooler.
Robin Vishen
Wasn't as big as you might think from the photos. But it's a fun place.
Valerie Henriquez
I love their art work, displays, their gift shop. EVERYTHING. Well worth the 5$ admission.
Chepe Morales
Not very big but it makes up for It's size with all of the strange and unique things to look at. It's only 5 bucks to get in so if you are in the area and looking for something fun to do, definitely check this place out.
Carlos Ibarra
Its a great place to see stranger things
Daddy Cross
Really cool place! Awesome collection of peculiar things and collectibles. From a haunted doll house to pictures with Krampus and even a simulator for being buried alive!
Robert Danner
I was standing on the rooftop of the Hotel Governor, which was a locale in one of my favorite films, My Own Private Idaho, when I was pushed off by a vagabond because I didn't have any spare change. After a struggle to hang on, I finally slipped to my death, but fortunately, a visiting alien, who took a wrong left turn leaving Jupiter's moon, Ganymedes, found me splattered on the sidewalk on 11th Ave. and torturously brought me back to life. Actually, I just enacted this fantasy right here at Freakybuttrue!
Lisa Renelle
This was a very unique experience! It's only $5 to get in, so it's worth a gander. I wasn't extremely impressed, it was small and dated, but I still enjoyed it. This is one of those places that makes Portland unique.
Paul Filenko
This is not just an art gallery, its a life experience.
Craig Rivers
This place is pretty neat, definitely worth a visit if you're in town.
Jessica Morris
A lot packed in to this three room museum of sorts. With it's interactive exhibits like, what it feels like to be buried alive, the $5 cover is money well spent. Not to mention they serve ice cream sundaes with a variety of real bug toppings.
jennie Hirshkowitz
Eccentric fun loving spot. Good place to kill an hour and see some unique finds.
Dana Weaver Jr (Pyrat_King13)
The Peculiarium was a great final stop, after a long day of walking around Portland. Some of the "artifacts" are a bit hokey and campy, but that's part of the charm. TONS of Big Foot schwag for purchase, tons of gag gifts, and one of a kind creations for purchase. I will definitely stop in again, the next time I find myself getting weird in Portland town.
Christine Burr
So fun, good gift shop prices
Christine Ray
Neat little place.
Ian Hazelton
It was exactly what we thought it'd be, full of weird stuff haha. We had fun; worth the $5, and if you wear a costume its free.
Simon Bacon
Really neat little spot off the beaten track. Worth the oddity factor and thoroughly enjoyed the attraction. Timing was a little "rushed" as other groups file in etc, but time your visit properly and you'll have a grand ol time!
Andrew Meza
A unique find in Portland, interesting and strange displays throughout the gallery, a small $5.00 fee per person is fair to kill sometime with visiting friends from California.
Molly English
Worth it to go! Great photo and talk pieces for a big group. We ate bugs for 10 cents too! Friendly customer service.
Alexandria “Alex” Keaveney
Great little inexpensive freaky art gallery 👍 …
Bridget Handkins
Excellent! $5 gets you in or enjoy FREE if you come in costume. Mini museum features hilarious, gruesome, and interactive exhibits with helpful staff and a great vibe.
Wendi A
Really fun museum, there's lots too see and play around with. Their gift shop also has lots of great stuff
Joe
Fun museum, but very short. Only 3 rooms
Michael Timchenko
Great place to visit if you like the strange, creepy, monster, etc things. Nice employees and $7 admission.
Kayla Jackson
Fun ,interesting little place if you have no idea what to do. It's interactive and fun for all ages.
Serenity Aust (Accounting Angel)
Definitely obscure and had some interesting stuff but very small. Unless you are close I wouldn't go too far out your way to go there
Slabtown Tours
I start my ghost tours from this location. The staff is excited and part of the experience. You do not want to miss this experience. My children love the bug club. I am not able to pretend the bugs on the ice cream are popcorn. I'm still I'm training.
Rachel True
So much fun. It only takes about half an hour to go through - and that's if you really linger to see everything. But we thoroughly enjoyed the interesting items throughout the museum and got a lot of fun photos.
Brandi
Today was a typical Portland day, so was looking for something to do to get our of the rain. I have a things to do list and on this list was this really cool looking oddity museum. Had a very fun time waking about, looking at the weird and cool things they had on display.. Which some displays were interactive. It is a smaller place, so if confined in small areas with other people you, don't know is a problem, don't go or do so carefully. I had a blast😁
Victoria Gordon
A great value and must go to if you are visiting or new to portland
John Wick
Anything odd and peculiar are here! Small place but was throughly entertained!
Chelsea Detweiler
This little museum is a must visit! Clever and funny, intriguing and gross, this very Portland stop did not disappoint and was a fun half hour of browsing!
Trevor
Just as peculiar as the name suggests. Fairly cheap entry fee ($5 at time of writing), and some pretty cool picture opportunities. Masks required. Dogs welcomed and give 1 free entry!
Donavan Erickson
Very small place but for 5 dollars it's worth it. A good place to take some funny pictures. Also a good place to get souvenirs for family and friends. Worth seeing if you are in the area.
Rachel Sommer
Loved it!! What a cool experience. Very unique and very Portland. Yes the size of the museum is small but if you pay attention to detail it’s loaded with interesting things! Lots of cute stuff in the gift shop too.
Joseph Catalano
This place is quirky as hell, I love it. Truly put a smile on my face and only 5 bucks! Lots of photo opportunities in here and they have all sorts of funky things to buy. If you are in the area, pay them a visit, you will not be disappointed.
Say hello to VInce for me, He's a good man
Farhan A
Peculiar is definitely the word I'd use to describe this place. From freaky edited pictures to candy bugs they've got all the stuff to suit the name. I liked talking to the guy at the counter and looking at the interesting things on display. Fun place to check out/be creeped out.
Matthew Lindsey
Bunch of fun. Lots of kitschy stuff to see and buy. Totally worth it.
P Ndu
Cool place to spend 30ish mins looking at freaky things.
Tara Elsa
It was indeed peculiar... but also quite short. Would love for it to be a bit longer!
Josh Brown
Incredible. Totally my style of oddities. Creepy, freaky and funny.
Charlie Corrigan
Only $5 to get into the museum, super cool stuff and absolutely worth it
Jessica Hunt
Fun way to kill some time. I regret not getting the bug Sunday, maybe next time.
Frederick Johnson
Wasn't sure what I would think of this from the start. It is almost best to think of it like a tiny bizarre scifi horror art museum. Worth the 5 bucks a head to get in and I was tempted to pick up many of the pieces they had for sale.
Kelley Fryman
This has been my favorite part of Portland so far! Would travel to Portland again just to come back to the Peculiarium
Robert Cronkrite
It is freaky, but actually true. It is also peculiar and possibly weird. Well worth the admission price. Even the gift shop is worth checking out. Friendly people.
Daniel Archer
Great quirky little stop if you're into anything weird! Just $5 for admission and lots of UNIQUE gifts and odd local art in their giftshop.
Nicki Brinkman
Super random. We enjoyed it. Very small. Affordable way to pass some time.
Terri W
If you want a fun hour or two in Portland this is an awesome place to visit.
Bruh Dude man
Absolutely amazing. A must check out if you're in Portland
S C
This is a fun and crazy place. Lots of stuff to look at and a gift shop area.
Justin Griffin
Interesting place. I thought it was some kind of thrift store or collectibles store, but it's more of a museum of odd things. Definitely cool and a place you must check out if you spend any time in Portland.
I only wish they had more space because it's pretty cool as it is but I think it would be a lot cooler if they had more area.
Kathleen M
Small but quirky, fun spot to stop. Bring your dog you'll get in for free 😁 …
Daniela Casillas
Super fun and weird I lover it ❤️💜💖 …
Tricia
Odd little museum. Nice place to visit. Friendly staff. Gift shop too!
Daniel Aristizabal
Awesome place. Best 5 bucks spent. 20 minutes of pure fun.
Outdoor Family
This place was so fun and kids love it. Btw if you dress up admission is free. All well worth the visit.
morgan guthrie
Couldn't go inside, but was super cool
Morgen Beeston
A fun place to visit and take pictures. You need to read all the signs as the sense of humor is great. 4 stars only because the actual visit is not very long and I wish there was more to look at.
Paul Tate
More fun things then you would think they can fit in....?
Pam Zappa
Had a great time! Loved sharing being pushed off building.
Mike Roberts
Great little museum if you are over this way, well with the stop
MISS_ MICHOACAN 48
Cool cute small museum for freaky horror lovers
B-Man
We are fans of the strange. This place is pretty cool. It’s essentially an experiential art exhibit with a bunch of strange and weird interactive art pieces. They don’t charge much to get in and it’s worth checking out.
Jaesun Easton
Weird and wacky! Fun place to explore.
Ryan Healy
Super fun and worth the price of admission. Reminds me of the long since departed Church of Elvis. I'm glad the freaky art gallery vibe is still alive in PDX.
Risha Duttry
Small, but full of interesting and fun items! Worth checking out!
Duy Le Anh
Interesting Spot, much smaller than expected, only 3 rooms but lot of cool little things to explore
Deven Smith
Fun little shop worth the visit. Some weird things to look at and buy. Do the tour if its not too crowded
Cass Jones
Great fun at a fair cost, I've been twice and will probably go again
alex mast
It was pretty cool. I half expected it to be a bit bigger but well worth it. The staff was friendly. The place was clean.
Mike Lane
Fun place with interesting displays of freaky macabre scenes and tasty scorpions and meal worms.
Sandy Corbin
S bit campy. Worth a quick visit though!
Sarah Barnett
This place is cool. On one side it's a little "museum" type thing, with fun oddities/exhibits. It's $5 to go through there. Or free if you're in a cool costume. You can take a photo with the alien autopsy exhibit. They are moving soon to a bigger space, so hopefully to make room for more cool exhibits. The other part is the shop. There's fun stuff to buy, including prints that were only $6!
Ruben Torres
Great place to produce endorphins. (Because of all the horror.)
Jeremy Fields
We had a blast! Lots of weird stuff to see and do. It took us about an hour to get through at a slow pace.
Trevor Prosser
Quite the place! You get your five bucks worth (and more) with their freaky collection of oddities!
Christopher Kell
Strange and unique place. Lots of fun.
Katie Stuempfle
I did not know what to expect when I walked in here but it was a lot of fun! They have some interactive pieces and a lot of memorabilia. Just remember this is not a haunted house! Nothing is going to jump out at you even though it may seem like it. Really cool place with a neat gift shop/joke shop at the end.
Noah Smith
Priced appropriately and worth stopping in if you are nearby. The shop is honestly really neat too
AshleyLynn Lockhart
Very cool environment with alot to see. We easily spent an hour and a half here. Take your time, theres alot you'll miss the first time.
jeremy galloway
One of those crazy places you just have to experience if you are ever in the area
Chris Thomas
Purchased the birthday box for my son's birthday, and it was awesome. I've never seen so much random weirdness in one package. Not only did they rush it out to get it here for his birthday, but they searched through storage to add an item that wasn't on their website. Awesome store....awesome people running it.
Annie Rothman
Super small. Like maybe three small rooms that you walk through until you're in the even smaller gift shop. Don't expect to be here long. It was pretty cool though.
vinny c (2steppin)
My daughter and I visited from San Diego and was NOT disappointed! This place is awesome, it has some of the strangest but most fascinating things we've ever seen! It's packed with the most insanely intriguing items and displays, we must have spent a good hour and a half looking around. A must of you're visiting or live in Portland.
That Guy
Very cool place, lots to see and do!
ellee hunter
I've been waiting months for this place to fully open. It's so cool!! If you like quirky, creepy, unique and cool.... then this is for you. I wish it was bigger! Such fun stuff to look at and take photos with.
momo
I happen to stroll on by here while wandering around Portland. Admission is $5 for their exhibit. It’s extremely small, but they allow you to take photographers. They have some very odd items in the museum, but nothing to write home about. The staff was nice. The gift shop had some interesting trinkets to take home.
Kylee Vancuren
So neat! Take your time and really look around. They have hidden surprises all over the place.
Vanessa Chavoya
Very inexpensive and so much to see!
Kevin Jones
This is a Must See if you visit portland!
Charity Navarre
Lots of bizarre things to see and it's only $5. Totally worth checking out.
Lizzy LovesSatan
It's like stepping into a museum in a parallel dimension where things are just *slightly* different...
This place is loaded with art, curiosities, bizarre items, strange sights and sounds, and lots of fun. Don't go in with any specific expectations, just take it for what it is! The gift shop is LOADED with amazing art and strange things. I love this place!
Sam James
This place was super cool! Free to get into the museum with a decent costume or mask!
Moni Marrs
Fun experience!
Jaclyn LaMar
Cute little museum type interactive experience. It's costumes, props, and art with a supernatural or cryptid theme. Lots of fun photo ops. It's $5 to walk through the "art gallery" it's not very big but they're moving to a bigger location. Hopefully when that happens they'll use the opportunity to dust and repair some of the displays lol. I enjoyed my visit a lot.
Mary Schleis
Great selection of sci-fi and horror items. Not very large but only $5 entrance. Very friendly and helpful staff.
J. D. Lawrence
This place is freaky. It's a fun experience. Going back in August. I need a picture with the Sasquatch. The staff are great. Check this place out. I am flying in just for the Sasquatch We don't have many of them in Utah.
Genifer Wallace
Was a bunch o'fun! Best spontaneous birthday stop. The roof top photo prop was the most fun. Thank you for being open!
Yonah Wahrhaftig
Well worth $5 entry
Aazhie Ryakes
Excellent gallery and amusement shop! Too much good stuff in such a modest space, well worth admission and time spent fi ding parking space! I would recommend to any artists and fans of X-FILES and other cryptid mythos
Michael Angelo
Cool little place for the price. It's really small but still fun. They should use space in the back for adult outdoor dining.
Levi Scheneman
Net lil place to go to kill about 30 mins
Heather M McDowell
SO awesome! Well worth the visit. Was here for over an hour!
Cory Scheuer
Definitely something different but very unique. Will tell my friends to visit.
Andrea F
This little museum is simply wonderful! I had not been here when I lived in Portland, but getting to visit during my trip was just amazing. Everything from an alien dissection, to old pictures of oddities to a Big Foot. The gift shop has several items of curiosity to buy, like Big Foot droppings, gag gifts and serious gifts. I loved it and would recommend for all teens and adults.
Sean Jackson
A very fun place to visit if you like the macabre and thinks outside of the ordinary. We took our children (ages 9 and 13) and felt comfortable with them being there. The museum is small and can be done in 20 minutes. Overall a fun visit.
S E
It’s a small place but very interesting, one of those places that makes Portland special in my opinion. Lots of quirky things to look at! Some interactive pieces as well.
Isabelle Delmas
Awesome! We spent about an hour there, laughed a lots and took some amazing pictures. Plus it is cheap and accessible by public transportation. A must see. Next you can go for a little walk to the witch house in the nearby park to stay in the "horror" them.
Paul Carrow
Love this weird place! Everywhere you look you notice something you missed the just moments before! Great bargain for your buck! Cheap entertainment and Great photo ops! Have fun exploring! This screams "Weird Portland" in a baby space! Oh and it's out of the Rain! Yahoo!
Diane Rimi
This place is small. You could go through it in 10 minutes. Has a neat gift shop. Very quirky and unusual museum. It's best to go with someone as a few exhibits have photo ops that you can't do if you are by yourself.
Aileen Aiello
I had such a fun time and my dog got me in for free. 10/10 cute date idea
Jim Williams
$5 admission; worth it if you're into quirky and weird. Plan on snapping fun pics
Rins Con
This place is a wonderful representation of the slogan "Keep Portland Weird." Everything in this museum/gift shop is weird, bizarre and/or comical. For $5 you can walk around the museum and you may be frightened by some of the attractions but the atmosphere compensates for that. Gift shop was nice and the staff are friendly. This is a must-go for tourists.
Vicki Wilson
If you're fascinated or intrigued by weird, this place is for you! I'm a fan of both and I couldn't resist the opportunity to visit. The shop is small but it has so many odd and interesting things to catch your interest. I'm glad we took a beak from the typical tourist stops and came here! There isn't a long line and the staff was very friendly.
Christopher McVey
Fun and eclectic. A must see
Thomas Minor
A little slice of weird. Nice place to blow 30-45 minutes entertaining slightly sober friends. Longer if you go through some of the awesome art they have there.
Suspend your disbelief and walk in with a smile you will enjoy yourself. So far all the staff I have encountered have been very nice and helpful with my dumb questions.
Edit: Last time I was here I felt like things were not working. It looks like they fixed it some of the things behind the velvet ropes. They have also rotated some of the art to give you more to look at and even take home.
Heather Sutton
It's cute and well priced.
I do wish there was no political hate hidden within. That really ruined it for me. Because I choose this place. To get away from all the negative vibes and talk going around. So that was very disappointing. But if your trying to kill time with some interesting things. It's not bad for 5.00
Karla Frohlich
The staff was helpful and fun. This is a very unique place that is so fun to visit! Great exhibits and awesome choices in the gift shop!
Faru rámú
Awesome spot with a fun loop of unique surprises. The employee I spoke with was friendly and informative of all they had to offer. Not a bad location and definitely worth the stop while in Portland! Some really great finds in there for purchase. I certainly left with a few things! This place is a hoot! We went here on a lark and had so much fun. We spent about half an hour there which was great for the $5 admission and got some freaky souvenirs. There are great restaurants in the area for afterwards as well. Highly recommended quirky experience especially for adults. Awesome little stop while in portland. Won't see anything like this anywhere else. Has a confession box and cool little souvenirs and post cards. The zombie room was awesome and unexpected. I was looking forward to it the whole trip and am not dissapointed!
Anissa Deupree
This place is so interesting! I was there this afternoon and it completely boggles my mind that I've never heard of this place before. I do advise it is not for the weak of heart, but it is incredibly interesting to spend some time at. People need to be talking about this place more!! Very fun afternoon activity.
Sarah Van Winkle
Friendly staff and super fun experience! I'm gonna bring my son here. He's gonna love it. Will definitely recommend to family and friends!
Melanie Kyle
So much fun packed into a little place.. five bucks entrance fee you get a lot of bang for your buck
BrandyLee Clem
VERY CHEESY BUT VERY FUN FOR THE KIDS!
Orlando M. Rashid
Fun to go with teenagers. Not visuals for kids or adults that don’t like the site of guts or blood. Not scary, no jump scares or anything like that. Contains small amounts of prank items and a lot of items with odd humor.
E L
Interesting place but could use some upgrades. I felt it was cluttered together and could use a bigger space.
Yung Boukman
Visited this place on my first trip to Portland and absolutely loved it. It was a unique museum with lots of gore and scares. I appreciated the range of different genres of horror (sci-fi, ghouls, crypts, etc.) and interactive nature of many of the exhibits. I only wish there were more exhibits because who doesn’t want more of a good thing… but especially considering how affordable it was, I was very impressed with the exhibits. They also have a fun gift shop with tons of stuff worth looking at and that’s a kind of exhibit unto itself. I should also mention that the guy in the shop was kind enough to offer to take photos. And when I left my pricey old hat in a tomb from the fright, they found it and shipped it to me in Seattle. They also insisted on covering the shipping cost and sent me a small gift from the shop. So, kudos to them for caring about patrons and not losing their soul in the midst of all that gore and death!
Grayson Walker
Small but very cool
Nidia O'D
So short ! But I enjoyed everything :)
Chase Haylee
Very tiny place, it's pretty much just one room but they have some neat stuff. Worth the $5 for sure
C L
Small but lots of cool & creepy stuff crammed into this place! Highly recommend stopping in if you like oddities.
Ben Eastwood
Photo friendly gallery of the freaky and bizzarre. Come for the selfies with Bigfoot and stay for the zombie brain and buried alive simulator.
Denis Burger Jr
Whether you are just visiting Portland or live here you need to go to the Peculiarium. So much fun!
Michelle C
Interesting but really small, there's only one main room. Doesn't take long to look at everything.
Duncan Shoptaw
The dude here was awesome and the kids loved the bug ice cream!!!
Mike Berezan
Awesome little spot. Worth the trip!
Vee Brannan
Very fun! A couple of interactive exhibits. Small, but full to bursting with odds and ends. Don't forget to look up!
They no longer serve ice cream.
Ken Nielsen
This place is a hoot! We went here on a lark and had so much fun. We spent about half an hour there which was great for the $5 admission and got some freaky souvenirs. There are great restaurants in the area for afterwards as well. Highly recommended quirky experience especially for adults.
Lora Wells
Crazy cool oddies shop, work a visit.
Julie Duncan
Fun stop filled with unique art and fun photo opportunities. The staff was delightful!
My self
We almost didn't stop and we're really glad we did!! We had so much fun going through and looking at the really peculiar and cool awesome stuff! I can't remember the guy behind the registers name but he was really sweet and we really enjoyed talking to him! We're from Texas and we just wanted to say we had a great time thank you very much!
Christian Blanco
We hit this place up on a whim and it was a blast. For a small donation ($5) you can wander through a peculiar museum with interactive exhibits and some really fun stuff. I got simulated burried alive, saw a zombie brain, got dissected by some aliens, and sat on ol' Krompus' lap. We had a great time here and am very glad we found it.
L Edwards
Fun place a must stop if you're on a tour of the weird - can't beat the price
Oh Danny Boy
A cool little shop to stop at. They have fun, weird, scary, and gross stuff to look at and buy. There was a decent brewery round the corner. A must see place if your in Portland.
Amber Dry
This is a Portland staple. Unique little art gallery with a flare for the weird & bizarre. The interactive exhibit with the aliens was my favorite part and a great photo op. They also have a merman here too! Parking may be a bit of a challenge, but you can usually find a spot somewhere nearby.
Brandon Roa
Worth the five dollars I'd say. Whacky and goofy spot to relax and stretch your legs.
surreality87
There's weird and then there's Portland weird and this is the pinnacle of Portland weird. what a trip! such a cool little stop to immerse yourself in absolute strangeness. definitely take the little tour they have set up, its work it. they are very friendly and try their hardest to have all the oddities you could ever imagine. highly recommend stopping in if this is your scene!
Laura Gudman
Bored? Want something bizarre and occasionally grotesque? Come down to the Peculiarium.
I first came in the summer they originally opened and have kept returning every so often since. It's a pretty fun place
Ben Brenner
This is a quick, small, fun experience. A lot of the peculiarities are sight gags based on puns. There are a couple of good photo opportunities. The gift shop has some interesting stuff.
Chris Rosenau
This place is fantastic! Spent an hour, and am sure there's a few little things I overlooked. Lot of oddities, and there's little things tucked away everywhere you look.
Eddy Hill
Pretty cool place, dated... But pretty neat for a kinda Hodge podge pieced together museum of sorts. Most things are actually interactive and a bunch you can touch. Definitely a place to go check out if you got a lil sci-fi or curiosities bug that needs to be fulfilled and the folks there are pleasant and helpful if needed
chris anatalio
Kitchy and entertaining but a bit underwhelming for the cost.
Definitely some interesting stuff worthy of a picture and some funny photo ops.
If you are in the area and showing someone around from out of town it's worth a stop but don't go too out of your way for it.
eric
Weird, in a good way, shop/museum. I ran into this place by accident and went in to get out of the cold. I didn't realize they had a small museum (I hope they expand as I'd like to see more). I got some interesting and quirky pics. I really liked the 3D viewer of the Bigfoot in the ice cream shop!
Chris B
Pretty cool place with lots of peculiar things. Only $5 for admission makes it a great place to kill an hour.
Can't wait for the new location to open and see all the cool new stuff they add.
Kayla
My partner and I visited back in November, and we loved it!
Definitely a bit of a quirky hole-in-the-wall place, but it’s definitely worth the price of admission to look around and see some neat things!
Victoria Jamieson-McCaskill
Super fun little place to spend a little time. It's quirky, weird, and cheesey! Totally worth the 5$ admission price. 10/10 would recommend for those with a sense of adventure and a taste for the macabre.
brittany dawson
If you’ve got an hour to kill and want a cheap delight, totally worthy the entry fee 😊 …
Louis Elias
Definitely worth the price of admission! There are some very cool things in that building.
Lizz D.
So cool!! For $5 I definitely got my money's worth!!
Jane Smith
Such an interesting, great place, and the people are super nice.
We like going there so much we renewed our wedding vows there.
The freeze dried scorpion and meal worms on our cake were a unique flavor.
Thank you so much for making a great day AWESOME!!!
s3r3nity0369
This place is a lot of fun! Visiting fro. California and I am glad I came here!! Fun stuff to see and a few interactive attractions as well! And only $5 to get in! Would definitley recommend!
Joshua Greene
Totally worth it and totally awesome if you like weird and unique things. There is a ton to look at and a lot of interesting things to read and examine! Very cool one of a kind place!
Andrew F
Small place but they pack A LOT of interesting and funny stuff in the space. Definitely worth the price of admission.
Lots of restaurants nearby. I’d recommend going to McMenamins Tavern & Pool right around the corner.
Zachary Schmidt
Short, but fun.
Kristi Lacy
This place is absolutely amazing!! Definitely recommend taking pictures of yourself doing the cliffhanger
Dan A
It's just ok, nothing too special. Felt ripped off paying 5 bucks to go through, it's about the size of my apartment and not a whole lot to see. Would have been ok with 2-3 dollars at most, but definitely not worth the 5 they charge.
Tona Miguel
It was hard to find parking. But eventually we found one. Just fyi no restrooms. So its got all kinds of weird stuff. We ordered the basic ice cream with larvae tasted like peanuts good protein 😄. Pay $5 to check out whats behind the curtains. Its alright nothing too big. But overall ok. 👍🏼 …
Ashley Sonnier
Love love this lil place! Strange for sure & could not leave without spending like $60 in the gift shop. LOL. Will definitely be back! :). I also like that there are NO CHILDREN ALLOWED. :) Makes it much more enjoyable.
Chadwick Reinheardt (2chord)
Unique, crazy and fun for all ages. If you are looking for a silly good time, especially with kiddos, this is a great place to check out. Also some good food spots and coffee shops around the area as well.. Check it out! Keep Portland Peculiar!
bigoldchump
Great find, worth the $5 to take a look in the back. Portland needs more gems like this
Tiffany O
Best quirky little museum for photo opps on a rainy afternoon in NW Portland - definitely spring for the small price of admission to museum portion with permanent & revolving exhibits, like alien autopsy & life-size Bigfoot & Krampus with glowing eyes. Wacky gift shop with gag gifts, vintage postcards, otherworldly collectibles & so much more. My teenage niece loved this place (and so do I).
Morgan Harris
Cute little museum if you're trying to kill some time. You probably don't need more than 30 minutes in here but for $5 it's pretty fun. Just a bunch if oddities and facts about different phenomenons.
Kelly Jayne
Its very weird and interesting. I loved absolutely loved the gift shop. Variety of very interesting things. Extremely unique art work. I did think it was a lil bit small though. Had hoped it be a bit larger. Its neat for sure though.
Nick Brennan
Been coming here for years. Today I made some purchases but left my card, the fella at the counter chased me down the block and gave it back to me with seconds to spare before the bus arrived. Top-notch service.
4raftin
This is a great place for young and old don't let the name put you off it's a fabulous place to visit
Zafirah M
Simply adorable!! A must see in Portland. The museum is very small but you can take q while if you really pay attention to detail (like I do)
Sonja Kerschner
It's small, sure, but packed with the bizzare and disturbing. There's some cool artwork, several interactive exhibits, and a little joke shop as well. My favorite part was near the end of the first area, where you can manipulate the sound produced by a musical thingimajig just by being close to it and moving your hands higher or lower by its column.
Angela Homuth
Super fun to walk around and I love the interactive exhibits! So much interesting information everywhere. I could probably visit quite a few times and see something new every time.
Nikita Joseph
I don’t think anything has been replaced or changed in a long time but it’s worth going to have a look at all the wired stuff if you have a costume on hand. Free entry makes the trip worth it but you have to dress up
Weirdest part was the zombie brain machine
royal wilde
Very fun and cool place. Must see when you come to Portland
Joshua Summerhays
Awesome!!! I love weird and creepy things, and this place is a great collection of fun and bizarre. My kids loved it, too. Definitely worth the cheap $5 admission.
Keith Thomas
An absolute must see in Portland. How they can stuff so much useless yet fascinating death and occult related junk in one small warehouse is amazing. Jokes and gags around every corner. You'll take more pictures here than at Voodoo Donuts, that's for sure!
Laura Neidhold
It's just okay. Was expecting something a lot bigger. I recommend if you really like looking at things intensely, but if you just want to go observe stuff this might not be for you. Overall lots if weird things if that's what your into!
Lotus Curry
ItIts was an entirely enjoyable there are alot of neat niknacks to choose from. The have hotdog and cheeseburger candy at the front counter. With a 5 dollar fee you can purchase a ticket into their strange but really cool gallery of peculiar objects, i saw my true love through one of old scopes that take you back in time. Its a strange contraption near the zombie room. Braiiinnnssss
Steve Wilson
Magical place with an awesome staff. Full of freaky things and treasures. Great for weddings, and first dates. Best bug ice cream sundae in town!
Chris Fellure
Great stop to stop in when you find yourself in Portland!
Lidia Alfaro Chavez
Cool spot to check out in Portland. It's very inexpensive and quick to walk through. Some of the little exhibits are interactive or great for photos, so that's fun too.
Kasha Tindall Webster
Easy quick fun. Going back to eat the bug sunday!
Jill Nguyen
A very a small museum but for the price well worth the admission. It was definitely a weird museum with so many oddities.
Jak Jak
Small museum. It is very fun to take visiting people to as it's only $5.00. Good location so once you are done int here can go down the street to get food or shopping.
Shawn Forsyth
This place is a cool exploration of eclectic oddities. It is kind of small and a generally quick experience, but worth exploring.
lovie bey
This place is weird fun. Wacky stuff and Bigfoot is at the door.
Blue's Neighborhood
I love this weird little place! It's a taste of Portland, achievable in an afternoon. Please take your out-of-town friends and family here for a truly memorable experience!
Abraham Wong
This is the embodiment of "Keep Portland Weird". It's a small art gallery with odd little displays. From a buried alive simulator, photo ops with Krampus, and entering the brain of a zombie. If you like the quirky it's worth dropping by and paying $5 to go through.
Sharron Ann
First time there. Interesting creature looking artifacts . Fun, entertaining.
Andrew Hassel
It's pretty weird, for sure. There's a bit of gore too, be warned. It's a bit smaller than I thought it was going to be, realistically expect to spend 20 minutes or less there. Very unique gift shop.
Pablo Martos
The walk through is a little shorter than I'd hoped, but it was thoroughly entertaining, and there were so many delightful oddities to stare at. Lots of fun for the tweens.
Samantha Crawshaw
It was cool. Got some good pics and good laughs. Interesting little place. Well worth the $5 entry fee.
Michaela Corey
Love this place. A cool place for all ages. Lot's of weird things to look at and purchase. You can also order a sunday with real bugs on it. Always a hit with the kids.
Jay Sears
Will deff need to bring my kids next time!
Michael DeLapp
Truly one of the few Portland iconic spaces left, that has survived the horrific gentrification that has wiped out so many memories. If you're a tourist, FORGET Voodoo Donuts & Salt & Straw. Check out this Portland gem. And, it's ONLY $5 bucks!!!!!
Tracy Hickman
A little small but fun. Lots of interactive things to do. Well worth the $5 admission!
Ashley Jade
Super cool if only a bit small.
Brian Hardie
Killer place. Should be in a TV show
Kirsten Tureno
Lots of peculiar things. Little spendy but tons of fun
Mr. P
Small but very Kool place to check out. Especially if you want Kool pictures.
Carlos Erhart
Small and quirky but also quite fun. Probably not the place for younger children. Well worth the $5 admission if you enjoy the bizarre.
Smol Bean
Cool storefront but online hypes it up way more than it actually should be. One half room filled with basically professional arts and crafts. Not worth the price.
Meredith Hansbury
If you’re in Portland and want a weird Portland experience, go here!! We had a great time walking around and looking at the exhibits. There were a lot of laughs!
Adam
Chill place has just enough free to encounter & interact with to keep a high rating, the shop part of the store is reminiscent of the magic shop in pee wees big adventure. Lots of werid, lots of strange & oddities galore. Pretty delicious novelty ice creams & other noms. plenty to help keep portland werid. a truly peculiar place indeed earns it's name easily.
ahorn11
I was looking for something weird to do on my trip to Portland and this place definitely delivered. I would go again to take friends. Also, the people that work there are very nice and helpful.
Jessica Degeer
It is small yes...but if you love the strange and unusual or the slightly odd then it is worth a visit..you can easily breeze thru in 30 min or spend an hour...very intertaning
Maleah Upah
Super weird in the best way possible
Will Guzman
First time eating cricket's and at first we we're apprehensive about it but it's actually a bit tasteless. Filled with protien, felt energized afterwards. Will definitely do it again good experience!
Lorn Davies
So much fun. Great place for anyone. Thank you for the memories. Lorn and Stephanie
Neko Carrillo
Fun! We came here first on our Portland vacation and it was worth the price. Silly and fun. Note: dogs get one free entry!
Lisa Kieffer
Interesting stuff, smaller than I initially thought but good money for value.
Mac Harris (Innovative Rock and Water)
Says it isn't kid friendly, but it is just because of fake blood and guts laying around. Perfect age to visit would be about 14, and have a friend to giggle with. It is definitely Portland weird.
Tyler Wilcox
This place was indeed freakybuttrue and it was a fun activity.
Rebekah
Super fun and quirky experience! The staff is awesome, the store has lots of cool nostalgia type stuff and souvenirs, and you gotta try the bug I've cream...Yummy!!!
Brandon Kilen
Had some cool stuff here!
Eleanor Hasken-Wagner
I had really high hopes coming here because I read all the reviews. While it is pretty cool, it didn't blow me away. I think if I had gone in with tempered expectations I would've liked it more.
Katie Ellis
Super fun place if you're into creepy weird stuff, lots of treasures to look at! Would highly recommend.
Jeremy Jett
Anyone visiting Portland should see this place.
Jennifer Weiss
Really cool place! Take your time and read all the exhibits and placards as they're alot of fun!
Lori Gioso
Cool place to visit! I don’t want to spoil the experience but it’s worth the 5.00 to get in. Great gag gifts and cool staff.
Mark Simmer
Kind of fun but very limited in size and amount of displays. Could be more peculiar.
Marlene Contreras (marbar)
It was freaky to walk around but true fun ;)
Austin Barron
Fun place to go to!
Clara Landaverde
Stop by while in Portland. Unfortunately, it was not open to the public. We were able to purchase and see some incredible items from the window.
Lars Richter
For me it wasn't worth the 5 bucks entree. It's just a collection of old freaky stuff, some is interesting, most things aren't. Don't expect something like Ripley's or so.
Rachel W
One of Portland's finest museums depicting the strange, weird and goofy. If you don't have a funny bone, don't go. It'll cost you $5 to get in.
Nathan Rasmussen
The museum part was really small. It was OK, but it's very tiny. Overall it's another interesting stop in Portland.
Rocky kallay
Awesome place! We loved it! Very friendly staff! Highly recommend.
drownedxreality
Super cool and fun. Also not overly priced qt 5 dollars. Even the gift shop was decently priced.
Jesús Monge
It's fun but a bit too short
Chance H
This was a fun corky spot, it was smaller then I thought it was going to be, it was only 5.00 which is really nothing. We spent about 45mins looking and had a few good laughs.... a good stop, just not a great one.
Dani
Fun! I loved it. I will certainly be taking friends here when they come to visit to show them which places truly represent Portland.
Marsha Woolerton
We spent a good bit of time here. They have some cool things to look at.
Monique Kirby
It's a short visit. One of those things you do only once. Not crazy expensive and there is some fun weird things to buy.
Matt W
Small "museum." Couple of rooms with curious artifacts. Entertaining nonetheless and one of the highlights of our trip. Bonus: close to a couple of distilleries.
Justin Skelton
Fun place with original oddities
Eric Larson
Fun for the whole family.
Joe Aklin
Worth checking out. Although I haven't been back since they started charging admission. Lots of fun art and odditys and snacks
david d
It was a pretty cool place to visit. We enjoy visiting places that have weird things to look at so this was a pretty fun stop while on vacation.
Sean Baker
LOVED IT! So fun n freaky
Courtney W
Kinda cute, not worth going out of the way.
Caden Sjogren
Great place, plenty of interesting oddities, great spot for getting a pic with bigfoot and other friends.
Nathan Garrett
Was "just alright" for us. I little short lived for the admission fee, but definitely an interesting place.
Delaney Stevans
This is my literal favorite place in town. Where else can you get inside a zombie's brain, experience a live burial simulation, learn facts about the organ trade, live out your alien abduction fantasies, hang out with Krampus, spy the Brundle Fly, get your fortune told, and pick up some long-dead stranger's photos, a Depression-era book on reproduction, and a copy of LIFE magazine detailing Jackie Kennedy as souvenirs? Absolutely nowhere else. It's a family run Portland institution right next to McMineman's. There's literally nothing wrong here and everything right.
Ted DeRuyter
Different. Rather small and limited. Has some cool stuff and a lot of corny stuff. Need to willing to have fun with it. Staff was very friendly. Fun little stop
Lindsey Law
Very cool museum! Tiny gift shop. But totally worth the 5 bucks to tour the back section.
Loretta G
Don't listen to people that say its not worth the exchange rate of a $5 latte....I learned interesting facts, had a fun time looking at all the artwork and displays.
Keep Portland Weird
Michael Gallardo
Fun place for horror fans! Not scary though. Then again I was too scared to go through the zombie attack simulator. Haha. Only 5 bucks.
Mercury Nightstone
Love this place! Super fun tour or weird stuff and lots of interesting things for sale! Highly recommend 💯💯💯 …

Got $5 and 45 minutes to burn? Uniquely Portland and not much else. Some weird sculptures for sale by local artists
JhaeMhae Scott
My family LOVED it. Its not my cup of tea so I didn't go in but hubby and kids enjoyed themselves.
Rick Willis
This is cool to see...small place....
Good laugh....5 $ a head....
Zev Vardeman
More was expected, $10 20 minutes, not bad but not worth visiting again.
Mark B
small, but worth the modest admission. it was entertaining.
FinallyAlive 38
Odd, quirky weird store... but fun. Bizarre is the word... admission is $5/ person... not sure if it's worth it.
Maisy Thornberry
Very fun but I wish I got the hamster mask lol
Lindan Caldwell Media
You just have to see it to believe it!
Melissa Begly
So fun for only $5!!!!
Lisa
Great little place, you used to be able to see the entire store for free now you have to pay to see the other half of the store.
maria kulp
The folks working there are nice, but the "museum" part itself is a little underwhelming. Cute gift shop, however.
Sean Tyre
The girl running the shop said my Shrek tattoo was weird and I felt like it was a genuine compliment. Would love to visit again.
Jonathan Harrison
Perfect very portland place to visit! Lots of interesting things in the exhibits!
Jaclyn Smith
Neat little place, though the entrance fee to the back seems a bit steep for what it is. Still worth stopping in once though.
Travis Tiburzi (tburzz)
Kinda tacky if your not into this kind of stuff.
N F
Half is a store, half is a paid museum, of sorts. Great art, obvious sense of humour by the owners, & really friendly helpful guy working behind the counter.
priscilla besson
Don't really know what to say.....funny ? Weird ?
Simon Dietsch
First time here in over a decade where our 10yo was the perfect age to engage with its freakiness
Maegan Thomas
If you're in Portland and you don't visit this place, you're really missing out on a truly weird and wonderful gem.
Admission was $5
molly moffitt
It is a cute place. Glad we went. Very portlandy.
Nick Wolf
Weird. Do the tour. Weird. I'm mad at my wife for not letting us recreate the zombie room in our basement, but that's not the Peculiarium's fault.
