This place was unexpected and looks unassuming from the outside. Inside is a treasure trove of Portland history and fascinating information about firefighting. The volunteers were friendly and very informative without hovering. A gem of a find for someone who likes old electromechanical stuff!

Outstanding visit. The men here were extremely hospitable, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. A great collection of memorabilia. Possibly the largest collection of rare original leather fire buckets of any fire museum. This is a must for anyone interested in fire service history.

Amazing place to visit! One of the only fire museums I have been to with the existing horse stalls. Dana and Mike were very good historians and I learned a lot about the Portland Fire History.

Great for the kids and the family. We love going here to see Santa with the little ones during the holidays. Everyone is super friendly. You can see historical fire department equipment while at the same time play with different holiday toys. The Santa here is the best and great with kids. You take your own pictures with Santa which are free, but donation's to the museum are greatly appreciated and help keep the doors open. It has become one of our family traditions.

Not a large museum but loads of history ! I’ve been around Portland at the tourist locations hearing about the great fires and to be able to see that piece of history was great! Funded from admissions and sales. Noble cause.

Come experience the joy of listening to retired firefighters talk about the history of the job! Almost everything from the past exists here, frozen in time. You’ll see stables for horses, old fire engines, dispatch equipment, books of hydrant locators, bucket brigade equipment, and more. Bring the kids and expect them to wear their fire hats and badges for the next week.

Really interesting and cool to see all of the history. Definitely stop by if you have the chance. The entry is cash only

Even though this place is changed over the years they still have a large variety of history in this building I hope they can finish the remodel and keep the place open and take care of everything and run it for many years to come
