Reviews of OMSI
Dwayne Benallie
Nice museum, the staff are really customer care oriented, the exhibits were spacious and not overcrowded. Lots of learning on all levels, one area is specifically geared towards children and I can see that the people in that area enjoying themselves. The planetarium was nice and comfortable, watch the Black Holes documentary.
The submarine was great and informative, every question I had was answered with their Naval military experienced guides.
I would definitely come back for another visit.

A place to checkout while in Portland! This place is very interactive and interesting. A family-friendly place with a lot of activities and attractions for all ages. A personal favourite while visiting OMSI was the Nelson Mandela exhibit. It was well-presented and outlines his early life until post-presidency. It was a great visit!
Jamie L
Our trip to OMSI was pretty awesome! We were sad to see that the exhibit hall wasn't open. I guess that's my bad for not looking it up. I was happy to see that all of the children interactive exhibits were open. My 6-year-old ADHD son had a blast! We spent 2 hours there and all of us felt we saw all we needed to see and had a great experience. Definitely fun for the whole family!

We went to OMSI once with our young son after the vaccine was finally available for kids his age and oh my goodness, he had such a blast. Our first trip there was a special exhibit on the ocean and some stuff from James Cameron. This time, there's a special 2 floor experience on Marvel, the history of comic books and all the super heroes in their stories.
Our son is going through a Thor phase and he had such a blast. Seeing the wonder and excitement in the eyes of your child is one of the most rewarding things as a parent. If you have kids that are interested in science at all or for the next month or so, interested in Marvel or any of it's heroes, i cannot recommend this enough!
There's also a dome theatre in the planetarium, interactive exhibits on music, earthquakes, water and air in a safe and child friendly atmosphere.
If you live in Portland or a surrounding community and you have young children, this should be on your list of things to do!
Ron Denison
My teenage son and I visited today. The science area is great especially for younger children. We of course enjoyed the Marvel exhibit. The food options (pictured)for the movie theater are an upgrade over other museums and movie theaters.
Susan Kennedy
There's exhibits and hands-on fun for everyone at this museum! My partner and I went to see the new Marvel exhibit and have to pass on the glowing reviews to other fans of the comics and movies! We could not stop saying "oh my," at every artifact we walked up to. We also enjoyed a show in the planetarium and had the BEST submarine tour. It was a first for myself, but my partner agrees that the guide was absolutely amazing and full of great information! I almost knocked a star off for this visit though, as many other exhibits were closed or out of order for the day, which was something we really looked forward to checking out... Guess that just means we'll have to come back again! 😃

First time to visit this museum.
My daughter liked it very much. It has many kids friendly spots for them.
Many things to learn in different topics.
They offer a real submarine tour and a planetarium theater for extra fees.
Avoid weekends for crowds.

Absolutely enjoyed ourselves once again, this time got to take the niece and nephew. The 15 years of laika was absolutely amazing, I would love to go back to check this exhibit out again. The amount of interaction for the kids in the engineering station area is amazing. They had a blast. Spent about 5 hours here, and not a dull moment ever. The amount of knowledge they and we took with us is unforgettable. Best Saturday afternoon ever. Highly recommend, I plan on getting a membership, totally worth it. The gift shop is quite amazing as well. Found quite a few goodies in there as well.
Guadalupe Reyes
Really awesome museum for the Marvel event. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to know some history on the comics and want to see the outfits worn in the movies. Spent about an hour and a half looking at everything
Brandon Edelman
Took the kids, 4 and 18 months, for their first trip here and it was great! We spent over 2 hours just in the 0-6 area upstairs! The staff were all extremely friendly and personable! Everywhere was clean and well kept. Cannot wait to go back and explore more!

This museum in Portland is perfect for kids. There is a planetarium, and a theater with great documentaries. There are these physics and chemistry labs with activities for kids. There is also a section of these creatures and fossils from different parts of the world. I was more fascinated by the section that explained permafrosts in different parts of the world. There is also a tour of the USS blue black submarine. As of Nov 2023, there has been a separate section on Marvel comics and cinematic universe entailing how the comics started and evolved to what it is now. It also has collections of costumes and other items that were actually used in the marvel movies we have watched in the past 2 decades, like the spiderman costumes, iron man suit, Thor hammer, Capt America's shield etc.

So awesome!!! We traveled from WA to check out OMSI. Three kids ages 10m, 2.5yrs and 7.5yrs. OMSI had something for all of us to enjoy, we were there right at open and stayed until 1pm. We weren't overwhelmed by the time we left and are planning on going back soon for the next featured exhibit and films. Highly recommend checking it out. Even if you don't have kids there was plenty for adults to enjoy (I mean who doesn't like building things and having a simulated earthquake knock it over?)
Britt
The Marvel experience was great! It was two floors filled with Marvel comics, costumes, props, interactive displays, informative signs and much more. Took us over an hour to look at everything and we could have easily spent more time. (No food or drink in Marvel area) We also saw the starry nights in the planetarium which was relaxing and informative. We learned about constellations, how to tell which direction North is from the stars, and much more lasted 25 mins. We also watched Superdogs in the theater which was so cute and great for all ages, lasted about 45 mins. You can eat in the theater and there are great food options like hummus and pita, quinoa wraps, fruits, sandwiches, popcorn, candy, soda, juice, and lots more all reasonably priced, but bring a water bottle and make use of their refillable water stations. (Quinoa wrap was $8.75 - Bottle of water $2.50) There are also many exhibits to explore including a permafrost section highlighting the climate change happening in Alaska. Learn about core samples, look at fossils being found, and play with interactive displays to learn more. We spent over 4 1/2 hours there and could have easily stayed all day. If you have young kids and live nearby, I would definitely recommend getting a membership.
Melissa Woolery
OMSI was absolutely amazing!!
The Di Vinci exhibit was amazing!! So well put together. Informative. I strongly suggest giving it a go if you are able to! Plus, they had a James Cameron exhibit there. And that was amazing as well. An added bonus considering we didn't even know it was there. $21 an adult for museum admission & the exhibit cost. Not bad for a day of fun! Plus all their other little science stuff, brain teasers, geodes, earth lab and fossil space. We did attend the theater or planetarium this time, but those were available as well. No cafeteria available but no biggie at all, they had a little cafe type spot for drinks and some snacks.
WELL worth it. Friendly staff and volunteers as well. Definitely be back!
HENU G
Friendly and polite staff. Had nice time here. The best part was the Microscope, the baby process, earthquake simulation, crystals, Dill getting into the sit.
Adam Danielski
What a great place to visit whether you're local or visiting. Loads of fun things for older and the littles. Currently the Marvel display its great so catch it before its gone!
Victoria Birdsong
We love it here. My 5 year old can spend hours going around to all the different areas. He loves to see the babies, then he has to go check out all the machines that use air. First time in their planetarium and it was a Halloween Lazer lightshow, it was pretty fun. 😍 …
Mike Arnesen
I've always thought OMSI was pretty cool, but now that I'm a parent with a 2-year-old, this place is a godsend. My family bought an annual membership on Black Friday and we've never looked back. We take our daughter here at least twice a month and it's a fantastic, safe, and intellectually stimulating indoor activity for us to do together. The kids area (which I didn't even realize existed three years ago) is incredible and is our daughter's favorite place to be the city. Thank you OMSI for being great.
P.S. Please stop carrying dinosaur toys in the gift shop because my daughter wants to bring every single dino toy home with her. ;-)
James Bolognese
OMSI is a truly remarkable place! The exhibits are educational and engaging, making science both accessible and fun. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always willing to answer questions and help with anything you need. I especially loved the planetarium shows and the hands-on activities. If you're looking for a fun, educational experience, I highly recommend a visit to OMSI. Five stars!
Alita Hawksworth
Plenty of parking in lot and $5 per spot which you pay inside.
Niece was two so entry was free.
$14 for adult.
Plenty of stuff for a two year to see and do.
Cafe has food and drinks for reasonable prices.
Restrooms were clean and well stocked.
Friendly staff.
Unfortunately kids have to be 3 and older for submarine touring.
R. UnSir
Expensive, but there is so much to do and see, you will never experience it all in one day. The USS Blueback tour is awesome. The kids love all the interactive displays.
Joshua Guisado
(Story from August 10, 2021) Not gonna lie, this place was actually really good. The so called “Dinosaurs Revealed” exhibit was well done. Other exhibits like the Natural Sciences Exhibit (which had stuff like recycling, the earth in scale, even pregnancy) are also good. Sadly the Turbine Hall was closed on our trip and also the main entrance had to be remodeled too, so we had to use the planetarium exit to enter. But with the bad qualities out of the window, this is a must-do for families. This review will be updated sometime in the near future.
(UPDATE!) I went to OMSI on November 2021 and the Turbine Hall was backup, which I thought was amazing part of OMSI. The main exhibit was replaced by “Mandela: The Official Exhibition.” As I am posting this update, this will be the final week it operates. The main entrance was also back up the time we went. There’s also a LAIKA exhibit by the Empirical Theater I went to in which I don’t know if it’s gone or not.
(Second Update) Although I did not visit, the main exhibit was replaced by a Leonardo Da Vinci exhibit.

OMSI Summer 2022
I am updating my OMSI review from last year. Construction seems to be over and there are new things to see and still some old favorites.
I went primarily to see the Da Vinci exhibit and it was very interesting and informative. There were lots of models of varying sizes and several interactive touch screens. If you are interested at all in engineering you will really enjoy this exhibit. There was also a very large section on "The Last Super" which I found really fun to see.
If you bring kids to the Da Vinci exhibit there are a few interactive areas, however it seems suited to adults or kids that are really into models. I brought a 13yr old boy and he really enjoyed it.
When you purchase tickets for the Da Vinci exhibit there are times entries, once in the exhibit you can stay as long as you like. They ask that you don't take pictures in this exhibit.
Unfortunately, we only spent about 30mins in the exhibit due to a fire and evacuation of the building. (The situation resolved within 20 mins and people were allowed back into OMSI)
We did spend time in the main interactive room on the main level. There were some changes and several parts were the same. It wasn't as crowded as it used to be before COVID.
I briefly noticed an underwater exhibit in the room with the pregnancy display, we didn't have time to explore it fully, but it looked really cool!
This is a great place to take all ages, there is something for everyone!
Alyshia Keenan
The Dinosaurs Revealed Exhibit is so cool! I brought my 5 and 3 year old kids. We loved that the dinosaur models were so realistic, life sized, and even moved and roared. I wish there were other parts of the museum open, but realize we're just coming out of the pandemic. Overall, a unique and fun experience!
Julia Howells
Always love a good science chat. OMSI has incredible exhibits and fun, hands-on activities for kids and adults. This time was about the reproductive system (fitting, considering the recent verdict) and about Titanic. So interesting! There was also a Da Vinci segment which is also incredible.
Veronica Fuentes
Absolutely loved this place, it was our first time visiting. Now we are tired after our fun filled day and already looking forward to our next visit.
Regina McMenomy
Omsi is great! We always have a fantastic time. It’s been awhile since we visited and the kids really enjoyed the new exhibits.
Amanda Emerson
It was great! I haven't been in like 20 years and we took our son. He had a blast and so did we! Will definitely be back again to enjoy the rest of it
Iris White
Nice museum, the staff are really customer care oriented, the exhibits were spacious and not overcrowded.
Randall Biggs-Shaw
As someone who loves science, history and engineering. I love that OMSI is here and able to see fascinating things. The Leonardo De Vinci exhibit is amazing! The exhibit for challenging the deep is also rather fascinating. With movie props from the titanic and the abyss. Always a joy.
S M
Submarine was a fun little experience. It’s been YEARS since I had been so this was a blast from the past. The tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly.
The museum itself was a bit of a let down. I remember it being so much more. The dinosaur exhibit is great, I promise. But, the rest of the museum lost its spark.
Abbie Lu
So many awesome things to do for adults and kids of all ages. Their membership is SO reasonable too! We go all the time and each time is enjoyable. I love their OMSI after dark events. They also have a cafe and the coffee is pretty decent considering. I definitely recommend coming here.
Rodrigo Silva Freitas
The exhibitions had a lot to see but the puzzles were so much fun!
Amanda Isberg
One adult and one kid ticket plus parking was about $30. For that price I wanted to see a bit more. The play area was still closed which was a big disappointment for both of us.
The dinosaur exhibit was fabulous and kept my three year old and I engaged the whole time.
Sabine Richter
nice expirience. Children can so many play something. The submarine tour was gread
Tonia Ferguson
We really enjoyed it, some exhibits are still closed due to covid, so be prepared for that. Some of the gift shop items are twice the price as similar items in Amazon. The kids learned a lot and liked the planetarium and animatronic dinosaurs.
Rebekah White
It was a fun and great experience, so happy they are now completely open and no longer require masks. I absolutely love OMSI
Helen Smith
We enjoyed our visit to OMSI. The planetarium show "Black Holes" was terrific. There were lots of logic puzzles scattered throughout the museum, and although I used to be good at those, I was humbled by how few I could solve. Fun for adults and kids alike!
Cristal Solorio
Took my kids 🌞
My son is a huge dinosaur 🦕 fan
And they happen to have the dinosaur exhibit 😊😊
A lot of things are close right now due to covid which is understandable 😁
My son still had a blast tho! 😊
Definitely coming back when more things open up, also they have the Planetarium which I personally found super cool!!! 🌍🌋🗻🪨🏔🌚🌝🪐🪐
Joshua Carter
Lots of shows/videos to see, some activities for the kids. Nothing great, but it's not a bad way to kill an afternoon.
Angel G
Dinosaurs revisited exhibit is AMAZING! All the dinosaurs are animatronic! Our 7yr old is on the spectrum and LOVES to obsession dinosaurs! He was so excited! Also, a lot freaked because they moved. I'm so glad we got tickets! It was an extremely enjoyable family outing.
julie sheets
Love going to OMSI it’s a great indoor place to spend a few hours especially on a rainy or cold day. A few things could use some maintenance but over all we enjoy it. It’s especially great if you can get a membership and pay $5 for the year long parking pass. Totally worth it.
Melanie Tam
My husband loves science museums, so we always try to go to one whenever we visit a new city. But they can be a hit or miss because sometimes, it's too kiddy, which I understand that that's probably science museums' main target audience, but adults like to learn about science too! Luckily, OMSI was one of the good ones. There were a lot of interesting exhibits, and we learned a few things that day.
We bought tickets online ($13/adult) for a 10:45 AM time slot for a Saturday. Although there really is no point in pre-purchasing tickets because we still had to wait in line with the rest of the people who didn't buy tickets, which made no sense to me. Thankfully, it wasn't too crowded yet and we probably waited only about five minutes. However, we passed by the entrance at around 11:15 and that's when it started getting crowded. The line was probably at least 50 people deep and wrapped down the hallway.
We spent about 1.5 hours there, which was plenty of time for us to see everything. But we didn't purchase tickets for any of the special exhibits, so if you plan to do this, I would recommend allotting more time, and definitely coming early - preferably when it opens, if you can.
Brad Reay
The dinosaur revealed exhibit was a great time with our 5 year old grandson. The dinosaurs of Antarctica movie was well done & informative, even keeping our grandson's attention.
Sarah Gunderson
We had the very best time with John L. And the submarine tour, he was so informative, and excited to share with us! We had a great time otherwise, but I do wish somebody had tried to sell me a membership...I ended up spending more than the membership would have cost, without realizing it! It was still a blast, but it cost me and 3 kids a pretty penny!
Marty May Masek
Probably better for kids than for two adults who enjoy science, but still good. If you want to tour the submarine, buy tickets early! School groups had booked the tours, so we couldn’t book anything until hours later. Planetarium show is extra, too. Great insects to see. There were also decent exhibits on the human fetus and permafrost.
LiLing Wang
It is a great place to bring kids there , kids will definitely have fun there. We are adults but still found our fun time there. We actually were looking for the submarine but didn’t know there were only guide tour to enter .
The Dude
Probably a little outdated on a national level compared to other science museums but the family had a good time.
MrLewisCarter
Really wish this pandemic would go away so we can go back to enjoying OMSI to it's fullest. Okay so mainly I would like to be able to get some hot food which at the moment is limited to popcorn 😑. The kids loved it, not a surprise, they always enjoy a trip to omsi. …
Black Widow
A favorite destination for four generations of my family. They curate exhibits that interest children and adults alike. The submarine tour is a must. They've done a great job of adapting during the pandemic. This visit we saw the dinosaur exhibit.
Amanda Moraes
Amazing museum, good infrastructure, liked the shop store. Beautiful location.
Different galleries (planetary, anthropology and itinerant exhibitions). Tickets are not expensive, it also has a small cafeteria. I really liked the place.
Pep per
I had a good time at the museum. They implemented COVID safety procedures like masks, hand sanitizing stations, social distancing procedures, and limited capacity for tours and events.
I attended the submarine tour and the dinosaur exhibit. The volunteers were extremely helpful and the store staff. However, young man working at the front ticket desk was extremely difficult and rude. Luckily, there were others there to provide assistance.
RetroGamingAutobot
Hit up the Marvel exhibit. Absolutely fantastic display. Well Done!!!!
Debra Johnson
We had so much fun at the dinosaur exhibit! Totally worth the trip. We learned even more about dinosaurs than we knew. There are live exhibits to see. The exhibit on babies is phenomenal.
Alan Gould
Very awesome piece of history. Guided tour was wonderful and knowledgeable guide.
Laura Silva
This was a very neat museum. A lot smaller than I expected though. We went to see the submarine and that was definitely the highlight of the visit. Very cool experience!
Jason Cowin
Highly recommend the main exhibit the with all the insects and animals for all. The science part of the area was more geared towards kids. The pregnancy exhibit was very interesting but a little eerie to look at.
A fun trip for sure. Wouldn’t be apposed to going again.
Hint: purchase tickets in advance and the just pick them up at the concierge counter where the line can be significantly shorter.
Parking is $5 and adult admission was $15.
Michael Aigner
Very cool exhibits, but completely overrun by children on weekends. Do yourself a favor and visit during school hours if you can, or be prepared to fight your way through a horde of mini humans.
Apryle Roe
Our twin 8 year olds and our 7 year old had a great time. My husband and I enjoyed ourselves too. It's quite a task to keep this family's attention but OMSI sure accomplished that for us.
Erik Bailey
O I love this place. I've been going here since I was a kid, it's been great to see all it's iterations and the few exhibits that have been here since the 90s. Apparently every generation loves filling bottles with water and air and blasting them towards the ceiling. Often wonder how often they replace those!
It's great for ages 2-118. I loved it as a kid, my kids love it and I hope their kids love it too someday. I have a Seattle science museum membership and it's reciprocate here so I always try and stop by when I'm in town
Isaac Mendoza
Great experience, great staff, definitely recommend going there, take your kids and family they will love it! They have a great area for kids to explore and learn my baby loved it there!
Ben Barlow
Great experience and awesome Marvel exhibit!!
Sarah Bailey
Went to see the exquisite creatures exhibit and was not disappointed. The museum is a bit far from us but well worth the trip! My kids always have a blast and there are so many interesting hands on learning opportunities. If you have kids and live in Oregon it's a must see!
Elizabeth Brenneman
This place offers so many cool attractions! Submarine tours, changing exhibits, movie theater and more. OMSI after dark is really awesome for adults with adult beverages being an option. They're currently under constructions and I'm dying to see what they have in store this summer!
Dustin Erdman
The draw here are the traveling exhibits which need to be rated on their own merits. OMSI has attracted national tours of some truly fantastic exhibits which should be given due respect. Unfortunately, the rest of the museum itself has little to offer if you’re not under 10. It seems the museum board/curators have decided that their only audience is young children and their parents. Even the planetarium show is reduced to a scant 15 minutes as if catering to the attention span of a toddler. Two adults won’t leave the museum - or should I say enter it - without paying nearly $60. Museum memberships would save money but that would require wanting to go more than once. Here’s hoping for expanded offerings in the future.
I have attached pictures of one of the more noteworthy features of the museum which traces the development of human life. Also attached are pictures from the recent King Tut exhibition.
Micah Jamieson
Wonderful location to visit, especially if you’re able to attend the after dark events later in the night. If you see the staff, in particular Joseph B., do make sure to thank them for their time and efforts in making it such a wonderful experience
Lisa Ostrom
There lots of activities for little and big kids! We love having a membership and a parking pass makes it so easy to go! The upstairs area changes themes every few months and we love the planetarium! The music ones are our favorites! The submarine was fun to learn about too, even for little kids. And the physics and chemistry labs are really fun for big kids. The exhibits are a little spendy so we haven’t gone to those though:( and we miss the sand in the little kids area.
Rob Moore
Lots of really cool exhibits. Outstanding really. Great place to take kids. I found an unused wrist band, put it on and walked around all day for kids. I gave a 4 star due to the prices of admittance. Robotics not included in membership which probably should be included. Can't complain as I paid 0. Definitely more things to see than you can fit in 1 day so if you have a membership and kids definitely a good deal. I had a good time. There is a snack bar which is nice - waters and gatoradies
christopher mangan
Great place for the kids, and the whole family. My two year old loves the kids play area, but there's stuff to enjoy for the young and the old.
Rob Stitt
The submarine was very cool. The Black Hole "planétarium" show was cool.
This is a great place for kids.
Tina Gunnels-Day
enjoyed taking my grandkids to the OMSI, went ahead and purchased a seasons pass, so many interactive displays for busy little minds
Beatrix Ryerson
I haven't been to OMSI in years! Many of the rooms have changed their appearances. I am glad I went because OMSI is awesome. Really recommend.
Kay Thompson
It was fun place to visit. Especially USS Blueback submarine tour was awesome. We could know all about Navy submariners and submarine mechanism.
Christopher Marley's exhibit was also great. The place had a very mysterious and sacred atmosphere.
Kiran Chowdary
There are lot of science and technology things happens here every day every weekend. There is also Kids science play area am sure Kids will enjoy here. If you are 4 people then a yearly membership is worth and check Groupon for very good deals (40% less). I like the Submarine trip and my kids enjoyed it. We watched Incredible2 movie and enjoyed lot in big screen especially my kids enjoyed a lot. There are lot things to visit and this is re-visit place.
Jamie Bichelman
A fascinating museum, learning center, and historical site with endless possibilities for adult and child alike. There are several packages to find the price and experience that best suits your needs. I cannot speak highly of the Starry Nights Live show in the planetarium; the instructor’s voice, enthusiasm, and the setup of the room was absolutely breathtaking. The games/activities throughout are neat and engaging ways to learn scientific concepts. Compared with other big city museums, I’m not so sure it stands up as well; that Starry Nights Live show was simply outstanding, though!
Donny Top5
Had a ball at OMSI last weekend. The King Tut exhibit was amazing, get there early if you can. I had always wanted to do a tour of the Submarine they have in the Willamette by the OMSI and it did not disappoint, the guide was a hoot. We also hit the planetarium for a stargazing tour. The staff was helpful and polite. 💚 …
Amber Schippert-Bell
Has everything, science labs, biggest theater I've seen, play ground, planetarium, and a submarine tour. By the way Doug is the best at the tours. So much to see n do. Gift shop is awesome, we brought home so many projects to do. Couldn't fit it all in one day! Become a member
Eric Hiller
Great for kids, relatively informational, as well as interactive. I do wish more of the exhibits were more fully explained, but I don't think the museum is aimed at adults. If we'd come with kids, it would have been a treat.
Andy Jensinger
We went in between featured exhibits but still left there feeling like we didn't have enough time to see everything we wanted to. Awesome collection of exhibits and activities for the kids. Definitely check out the USS blueback submarine.
Shaun Wray
Excellent afternoon for a family outing. Plenty of fabulous learning opportunities and items of interest for all ages. Thoroughly enjoyed the submarine, earth science, turbine hall, illusions..money well spent as the children in our group ages six to sixteen all had a wonderful and memorable experience.
Jay Huckins
Used to go here all the time as a kid. First time I've been here in almost a decade. I just had to see the Science behind Pixar. It was fascinating. But there were WAY too many kids. I could barely think through all the noise of those brats. I loved the face rigging and the scenery rigging stations the most. The rest of the museum was more sparse and more dirty than I remember it being when I was a kid. So that was disappointing.
Stacy Lee Ferguson
Came to town and asked around about what to do. Locals were unable to provide much help, so we went off the hotel provided map. 8 adults went to the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. Bought ticket for admission and extra tickets to the planetarium for the Dark universe show. The 30 min planetarium show was really cool and informative, but the museum itself was directed mainly for children. Great for the children, if you have them, but for adults it was not worth the money. A lot of labs and kid station and not much for adults. Had it not been for the planetarium it would have been a total bust. Submarine was closed for maintenance and main exhibit room was closed for maintenance. Also on a plus side is there is a bar with wine and beer, yeah! I had the Italian sandwhich and it was very yummy! Wife had beer can chicken sandwhich and hated it. Would I recommend it, if you have kids, yes. If not, no.
Lloyd Waggener IV
Omsi is great to take kids or adults to. My 2yo son loves to play with the foam blocks and water exhibits. We also love the submarine. I enjoy how the special exhibit changes every few months. We have a member pass which makes frequent visits better as you don’t feel like you need to do everything while you are here.
Danielle Lohmann
The staff is really what makes the OMSI special. Locals - I highly recommended purchasing an annual pass and breaking things up into multiple visits, especially if your kids are under five.
We went to the limited run Robot exhibit today (during spring break). Lines all over the place at the museum, but the special exhibit was pretty decent and all the kids got to take a turn on the interactive stations.
Deanna Rivera
The King Tut exhibit is the most amazing exhibit I've seen there and it's always a great experience. Those special exhibits are always worth the extra money. I do wish, however, that they would not charge for parking. also if you're going to go more than once it's worth it to become a member and the lines are shorter...and if you become a member of another science center like Science Factory in Eugene you pay less for the membership and can use it at OMSI.
downtownsoccer
Been visiting since I was a child and now get to take my kids here as well. Have areas for all ages including an age 0-6 exploration area (bring a kids change of clothes if they enjoy splash time). Check the website for exhibit rotation, some areas are also permanent.

If you haven’t been to see the Exquisite Creatures exhibit at OMSI, drop everything and go now! It closes Feb 17. Granted, OMSI always does an amazing job, but this is spectacular. Christopher Marley, an Oregon born and raised artist creates truly awe-inspiring displays of form and color using insects, reptiles, crustaceans, birds... anything that lives, basically. There are 2 floors to explore and it’s enjoyable for all ages.
Kelly Grant
Always an amazing time. Have been visiting for decades, since their days next to the Zoo in Washington Park. Love the atmosphere of science and learning made fun and exciting for all ages.
Kay Klaver
The King Tut exhibit reminds you how thrilling it is to go back in time and visit another time and place in the history of our planet! The tour is just over 90 minutes. Give or take more time if needed. I was enthralled with explanations of all I saw!!!
Jason Heglund
Took the kids here for the first time and they had a blast. the exhibits are so much fun and educational. Great place for kids and adults. There are exhibits for all ages. Will definitely be coming back.
Raschell Smith
What a great museum! I took my 4 year old wondering if he’d be old enough to engage and he absolutely loved it. They had an amazing temporary exhibit on robots. We also loved the science playground. As a bonus, we’ve been trying to get him to accept that we’re having a little brother soon, and there was a huge display on human life in the womb. Very helpful to have visuals!
Pearl N O
I thought OMSI will be fun just for the kids but it ended up being really fun for my husband and I so we became members. The STEM activities are endless and will really challenge your kid to think outside the box and be innovative. I've had the zoo, children's museum memberships and if I have to pick one, it will be this one.
Luke Yellowtail
This place has been on our to do list for quite some time now. We had finally taken our family. I must say its totally worth it. If im not mistaken the featured exhibits are only 5 dollars a person and children under 3 are free. The planetarium is awesome. They also show certain movies in the theater they have. Jad a blast plan on returning. Excellent place for families.
Andrea Z
Excelente place to spend the day with your kids. Lots of interesting activities to learn science, math, physics and more. A very enjoyable place for adults as well. Consider going early to avoid long lines to buy your tickets.
The eatery was very organized and staff is very efficient. Tasty food, fast service and you usually manage to find a table even when the place is busy.
OMSI is a place you can't miss when visiting Portland, OR.
Scott
This place is just fantastic. It's so much fun and just a higher interactive facility fin and friendly for all ages. I love the fact that they have a laser light show and even activities for adults to enjoy. If your in town with your family or friends, it's worth making the time to stop in and enjoy everything they have to offer. Be prepared to spend a good 3 to 4 hours in this wonderful place because there's just so much to do, see, learn and experience. I've been to many science center, but none as such as this. Kudos to wonderful staff and an amazing display of what Portland is really about.
Christopher Kaegi
My Daughter and I went to Omsi (3-21-19) a few days ago to see the new exhibits and visit the Dysney Pixar event which was very interesting. My daughter being 3 years old was having more fun climbing on Buzz light year and building robots. Over all the Pixar exhibit was definatly worth the extra money. If you want your child to get a lot of energy out the playground upstairs is definatly a great place to go! They have a huge sandbox, thousands of large lego blocks and trains and a play kitchen. There are several stations where she was able to learn about gravity and physics. Theres small library and events inside the playground all day long. Omsi also has the Planetarium and IMAX theater which are both amazing. Lets not forget about the hydro staion. There are so many things to do here that you would need a good 5 hours to enjoy it all.
Brandon Orndorff (Moki Mofiki)
Incredible! That pretty much sums it up :). We spent a day here but could have spent 2 easy. We took a tour of a submarine, watched an imax movie, hung out in the planetarium and so much more. The brain teasers and puzzles are awesome and everything was so much fun. Whole heartedly recommend.
Elizabeth Maxson
Loved it! You need a whole day if you're going to do the ultimate experience. If you go to the planetarium sit directly across the entrance, right hand side, 2nd row in and the first few seats for the best experience. Dark universe was the best show!
Christina
This place is amazing!!! A go to for kids and adults of all ages. If you are visiting Portland, you have to make the trip. The robots exhibit was by far our favorite. My 10 year old and 6 year old loved the coding, chemistry lab and cause and effect hands on exhibit the most. We only had 3 hours to spend and could have easily spent another 3 hours taking in everything OMSI had to offer. I am a frugal Mama, but this place was well worth every dollar spent!
Reggie Wallace
Seems like paradise for a kid. Me on the other hand did enjoy the charm of this place. I went during the day before my flight back home. The planetarium was really neat, but the show seemed short. I heard OMSI after dark is what you should do is you're an adult, which I'll be trying on my next visit.
Anita Shuler
We took my great nephews to Omsi to see the robot exhibit. It was Spring Break and crowded, but they didn't have to wait to long to participate at any of the exhibits. They especially enjoyed the all the interactive educational games. A good time was had by all.
Mike Warren
WORTH IT! whether a school trip for an annual experience, or a regular monthly trip, this place always satisfies.
You've got your puzzles, science exhibits, live sciences lab, chemistry lab, dinosaur bone, embryonic development exhibit, and on top of that a rotating exhibit of amazingness like Human Bodies, and Pixar. If THAT doesn't do it for you they have a submarine, a REAL submarine, you can go on. I've heard legend that you can even have a sleepover inside... Just saying.
Did I forget the words planetarium, turbine room... You need to go here! OMSI wins! 🏆
Georg Wuitschik
Very good science museum, especially all the little puzzles and the things one can do there. It's a little bit rundown (hard to avoid), but I loved the emphasis it lays on letting children (and grown-ups!) explore for themselves without too much guidance or explanation, e.g. the rolling-disk table.
Brittany Ashbaker
I was a little skeptical visiting because I thought it would just be for kids... However it's fun for adults too! The robot exhibit is worth the extra money! I love this place. The food court is spendy, but good food.
Joshua Johnson
This place is a blast for kiddos and adults alike. Their attractions are fun and their employees are engaging. You can definitely learn a thing or two from the exhibits.
Jeremy Brown
I went without kids and that was a mistake. If kids had been with me it would have been 5 stars. Without the special events (planetarium, movie and sub) it would not have been worth it. Getting those totally made it worth it though and I’d recommend those.
Julia DeGraw
The visiting Discovery of King Tut exhibit was incredible. My 10 year old nephew and I enjoyed the science lab, everything is super interactive. I've also really enjoyed the OMSI After Dark events.
Jordan Chamberlin
Absolutely great, if you have young kids. My family (2- and 4-year-olds) and I spent three hours there and left well satisfied. The main exhibit (exquisite creatures) was also great, and even my very restless kids were enthralled.
Jennifer Fitzgerald
We enjoy OMSI and the special exhibits. Would be nice to see some new things added.
Alesya family
Fun place for all age kids, hand on learning science, lab chemistry, gravity, earthquake, water pressure, animals, art, and much much more to see learn and touch. But one thing I didnt like was parking lot fee $5?!?! Whhhhhy!?
Cameron Birrell
This place was great. They had lots of informative areas and exhibits. The brain teasers were especially fun and challenging. However, the brain teasers could stand to be cleaned a bit. Try to time your visit when one of the featured exhibits is open. Also the "starry nights live" show in the planetarium was neat to watch.
Li Li
Really cool place for children to play and learn. Clean and well maintained. We had a great time. Unfortunately, our EBT card is not "permanent", so we didn't qualify for the museum for all discount. We did get 2 dollar military discount.
Starla Goldade
OMSI has something for kids and parents. The dinosaur reveal was awesome. My son still can't stop talking about it. The gift shop has some very unique items. We finished our day with a ride in the dino safari simulator.
Patricia Brintnall
The new exhibit about Ghengis Khan is amazing and beautiful. Because there weren't many people, there was plenty of time and space to read about different parts of the exhibit and enjoy what was being seen without feeling like I was holding up visitors. There is so much more to the man than just a conqueror as shown by the exhibit. I highly recommend grabbing your mask and going soon.
Tickets and parking can be secured online. Make sure you allow adequate time to find OMSI if you are unfamiliar with going there.
Cody Rayl
Great place to take the kids while in Portland. Worth a visit! Get there early if possible and plan on staying at least 1/2 a day. The process of buying tickets was slow and laborious, but other than that, the experience was wonderful!
Mandy Tang
Took the $8 submarine tour which was informative and immersive. My kids who are 5 and 8 enjoyed the exhibits and hands-on labs. We walked across the bridge and it was easy to get to. Cute gift store.
Becky Jesse
Our girl scout troop visited OMSI for their scout family night and had a blast. We enjoyed looking at Venus, craters on the moon and the face of the moon, highly magnified. We also thoroughly enjoyed the robot experience- one of the girls favorite part was playing tic-tac-toe with a robot! We will definitely be back!
Caylen White
Always love the exhibits here. Interactive and educational. The new exhibit, Illusion, was a great experiment in human perception. The exhibits that played with a variety of sensory perceptions and was a real mind trip. Thanks for always being awesome, OMSI!
Karen (華蓮)
I came here to see the Robot exhibition and it was very amusing experience.
Also, I had a chance to navigate different exhibition rooms in the museum and i found this place very family friendly.
There are many brain teasers and a water rocket launcher.
Outside the museum there is a nice path to walk or bike along the river.
If you are a tourist like myself i highly recommend to bike.
Konamaneti Sreenivasa Reddy.
A well designed structure in red bricks with V joints like carved notches and pleasant blue glasses, happened to see in the evening. We were on a trip to Mt Hood and Portland.
The time was over when we reached. The submarine timing also over. Took some beautiful photos covering the sub Marine, Wilmette river and Portland on the other side.
Bianca Esteves
Very nice museum. Great for kids, lots of play areas and interactive exhibitions. Planetarium Starry night live show is awesome and current robot exhibition too!
Moon Dragon
Absoloutly a must go family experience. The first Sunday of the month is $2 entry. Now the imax movies cost more as do the special exhibits like King Tut which is there right now. Please consider calling in advance and asking questions. I believe there are also some Facebook groups dedicated to OMSI so you can learn from the regulars/locals.
Vanessa Cade
Overall family fun! I suggest going on weekdays or early in the day to get the best interaction due to less crowds! Beautiful views of the waterfront. Fun for all ages! Many various tour attractions (king tut is through end of january) from space, history, science and a kids / toddler area! Fun way of teaching and hands on learning
Claude W
Great exhibit called, Exquisite Creatures, by Christopher Marley. He organizes bugs, butterflies, birds, etc. into beautiful pieces of art collages. A must see at the OMSI!!
Claire Wang
We have small children and enjoyed the science playground thoroughly during our visit. Spent a couple hours here and the kids loved it. Other exhibitions and installations are pretty cool to check out too.
Shane LoGreco
There is always something new and exciting at OMSI. From the Planetarium, a real submarine, motion ride thingy, movie theater and just other awesome permanent displays to see and play on. Then throw in a few feature exhibits that are always kid friendly and hands on and you are guaranteed to have a great time and learn something.
Robin Sampson
We love this place! We have a very hands on 8 year old. It keeps his interest and gets his approval too! My parents got us a family membership this year. Can't wait for our next trip and for it to warm up a little so we can do the submarine tour!
Ann Sawyer
This is an amazing 2 story museum with many hands-on science exhibits, interactive displays, and some science labs.
The submarine tour is worth the extra money. The sub has original equipment.
Our 9 yo had a blast! Some favorites of his: the laser planetarium show (didn't want it to end), the robotic arm game, boat building and testing on a wave machine, earth life lab, chemistry lab, and physics lab.
Elizabeth Martinez
If you live in Portland I recommend the membership - I got the 225$ patron membership and it has already paid for itself several times over in just 2 months! We go to OMSI often and it is my son's favorite place to go. Literally every day school is not in session we are here. Not only do they have varied, interesting exhibits, they have many many rooms and areas dedicated to free explorative play for kids and it's a great place to go on a rainy day where the kids can interact with each other and the exhibits. Plus the planetarium and movie theatre are great go to attractions that make it so you can spend the whole day at OMSI. Also, they have awesome activities such as soapmaking in the chemistry lab which I got to do with my son. He was so excited to learn about the chemistry of soap and then get to make our own! Right now he really has been enjoying the Port of Portland interactive exhibit. All in all it is a great museum for all age groups with great visit-again appeal. Our cool star soap is pictured below.
Michael Purpura
I had fond memories of this place from childhood, and decided to visit while in town for a few days. Personally I would say this is geared mostly towards children, but there are still some exhibits that adults can appreciate. The unborn baby exhibit is absolutely amazing.
Irshad Khan
An exciting experience to get into the submarine. A chance to sense the Years of sweat, machine and diesel. Each section of the submarine has its own story to reveal. Overall a very informative tour. Though it allows 3 year olds to visit inside, it is better suited for older kids.
Natasha Foster
The planetarium wasn't bad, but I wouldn't go back for the rest. Basic ticket is $16 (for adults), the planetarium is an extra $7.50, and parking is $5. So, total amount spent (for one person) was $28.50.
Lakaia Thornton
A super fun interactive experience even for teens and adults 😜 We spent hours here and it still felt like we didn’t have enough time to experience it all! The staff is super helpful and kind and the whole experience is sort of magical …
Cristina Garcia
Even though we have no kids, whenever we go to big cities that have science museums we get lost for hours. The OMSI was amazing! It has a lot of science stuff catered for kids but that can still be extremely entertaining for adults. They're fetus display was one of my favorite things I've ever seen in a museum, I can understand how that can be controversial, but being able to see the human development is amazing.
Lu Tim
Very family oriented/educational and worth the visit! We came from Maple Ridge BC, this is our 3rd time here. With Canada Telus world of Science membership, your entry is free of up to 2 adults & 3 kids. Come visit!
John Figueroa
DaVinci exhibit was very interesting, kids all had a blast from ages 9-16. The deep sea exhibit was pretty cool too! Love omsi, can't wait to go back!
Viet Mai
An eye opener for all kids and adults of all ages from science discovery, body anatomy, fetus, physic, mind games...there's so much to learn and enjoy, so we and the grandkids spent 5 hours and not even covered the entire venue. You should try visit the OMSI.
Tyler Gubala
A very nice museum.
Many of the activities on the base pass to the museum are taylored to children. They had some very interesting skeletons and fossils from extinct creatures and a cool skeleton of a cassowary too.
There are a lot of add on options for the tickets for the museum. You can even get an option that gives you a pass to get a submarine ride! I'm sure there are plenty of new events in rotation, too.
I was able to see an exhibit where two FANUC robots played connect four. It was a good way to engauge kids. Lots of hands on activities for kids.
Terence Lee
Great science museum for the kids. Many activities for the kids to do. We did try any of exhibits like the movie theater or the sub tour though. Those are $5/person. There was still plenty to do and learn for the kids.
Romeo Archila
I really love visiting this museum, there are so many different exhibits and they keep bringing new things all the time. Also the employees and volunteers are really friendly and helpful. Great pizza too.
Teresja Nelson
This is a really great science museum for all ages. It's very interactive and informative, and the exhibits are well-thought-out. We spent hours in the puzzle/science hall, and the chemistry lab has great activities to help kids learn about chemistry. Plus, part of the building is an old power plant, with a turbine still on display.
Omar El-Sherif
Loved the museum, we'll worth the cost for admission, featured exhibit, planetarium, and the theater. Only thing that seems lacking from other similar museums would be more frequent adult only nights.
Wendy Gritton
The body worlds exhibit is so much fun and the staff is kind! The exhibit is well set up for social distancing and is super interesting!
Kai Shook
Good stuff to do, solid exhibits. It is a bit prey but I think it is worth it. The fetal exhibit was by far one of the coolest thing
Seth T
This is a great hands on museum. Very kid friendly and has lots of puzzles and crafts. Great place to spend a day and their exhibits are very well done. Not sure if it's a place to come to on a regular basis but as a once in a while place it's a great place and worth checking out. If you have been to other science museums, this one is on par and well maintained.
Gowtham Natarajan
Nice challenging puzzles to solve. Good explanation of star systems in the planaterium. Robot revolution had very good exibits and demos of robots. Good experiments in the physics and chemistry lab.
Nathan Millet
Every time I go here I have a good time. I mainly go for recent events now since ive already seen their main attractions. Most recently Pompeii exibit. Awesome and eerie.
Leon Anavi
A friend recommended me this museum. It is a fun place but primary for kids. At the time when I visited it the museum was partially closed for renovations of some of the rooms.
Lettuce Taco Bout ‘it
2nd Review: Took a guided tour of the USS Blue Back Nuclear Submarine. $7.95 all ages. Started at 1:20-2:10. Kid friendly. Be ready to reach out and touch someone, it can be crowded. Will post 1 pic of inside and outside as to not ruin the tour. See pics of tix.....
Room for questions and picture taking. Photo tip.... see if you can get a photo with your phone through the periscope!!! Took my 15 year old human & 71 year old dad.
MWent to Pink Floyd The Wall laser light show last Friday night. Slow night, hardly any folks. Try it again though.
Harrison York
Excellent museum. Lots of activities for kids and still a bit to cater to the adults. For the grand admission (museum access, sub tour, movie showing, planetarium, and parking) it ran me about $31. But I was definitely entertained the entire time. The submarine tour was fascinating and afterwards I had made a stop into the Theory kitchen for a bite and a beer (pictured). Great food. This place is awesome. I just wish it was bigger.
Jeanie Cox
OMSI is always a blast! Kids and grown-ups alike can learn and have fun here. There are special exhibits that change on a regular basis so that no two visits are the same. And of course there are the old favorites that are always there. We love how hands-on everything at OMSI is. It is pretty expensive but worth a visit every once in a while!
Sarah Montoya
This place is amazing! So much for the kids to do and interesting for adults!
Tracy Roland
Took the Willamette Jet boat tour. It was so fun, witty captain/guide. It was a very hot day but we stayed cool the whole time.
Rustell
OMSI is a large open spaced science center. There are plenty of activities for a wide range of ages. Today we visited the Science of Pixar exhibit which was really well done. The Theory food is great but I wish the Mac n cheese was more kid friendly instead of funky.
Olivia Shoaf
The place was full of children but they had tons of cool exibits but if u r one of those people who don't like children then don't go here their food was awesome great for space nerds and children
Nocolate Nipnookee
Omsi is amazing!
During the day it’s an amazing place for kids and adults to explore and interact with tons of really great exhibits.
They have an actual submarine you can tour, and the tour guides make it really fun for kids.
At nights, usually on weekends and special event dates, they show movies in the imax theater there. Usually science fiction, anime, fantasy... but also some good documentaries.
They also have adult only nights with tastings and the like.
The redline has a nice close stop.
Rene Fragall
Not a lot of exhibits open because of Covid. The dinosaur exhibit was pretty cool though!
John Bradford
Great museum. We loved our afternoon there. The chemistry and physics labs were standouts.
Tell Burger
Great Dinosaur Exhibit! Due to covid... much less is available but we were certainly happy to go!
THECpt PHOON
Spent 4 hours here! There is alot to see so give yourself the time to get everything in! The sub was a highlight for me with the tour done by a veteran who spent 20 years in a sub! There is a robot Exhibition at the Museum right now.
Jaymee Blue
Always fun and there's something for all ages! The Marvel exhibit was really cool.
Ethan Kane
Number of areas had no exhibits or were currently closed. Maybe if they offered lower prices during off peak season it wouldn't have been as much of a deal.
Dylan Filkins
This is a really cool place! They have plenty to see and plenty of activities for kids and adults. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is playful. I always recommend this place for families coming into town.
Martha Muro
This place is good for small children, they can really have fun playing in the museum and the legos and for adults, thr movies are very educative, ghey are very interesting.
Salinas Shadow
Very cool, fun and interactive.
Carla Olson
Just wow! What an awesome experience. We did all the exhibits and shows and I highly recommend it.
Terri Hohl
It is so interactive for kids and adults too, a lot of activities that even make the adults get their thinking caps out. We spent 4 hours there and ate lunch. We didn't pay the extra attractions: Submarine tour, the planetariam and the movie theater. Went on the first Sunday it's 1/2 price.
Nicholas Parkin
If you go by more than 2 times in a year, I suggest the memberships. They are crowded on the weekends.... But wonderful place to take the kids whenever.
A P
A wonderful day out for our group with ages ranging from 7 years old to 80 years old.
First off, the submarine tour is the most interesting thing I've done so far this year. I will say I byam a little claustrophobic but I bit the bullet and joined my family and I couldn't have had a better time. Our guide was the highlight of the tour. He was eager to answer our questions and his ease on the ship got rid of any anxiety I had. I would highly recommend it to anyone who's remotely interested in technology or warfare.
Of course our 7 year old guest enjoyed almost everything. The earthquake machines was a little too much for them, but the adults loved it. The whole interactive wing, with brain teasers and science/education focused toys, was engaging and a great way to spend time learning alongside your friends/family.
I would hope in the future with COVID slowing down and things opening up fully that they would fully staff the "labs" they have scattered throughout the exhibits. A little more personal interaction and it would have been 5 stars.
I look forward to returning once things are fully open and a new featured exhibit is set up. We came between exhibits and felt something was missing from our experience.
Kryssi M
This is a great place to visit if you're interested in science, history and technology. They have a lot of interesting and well thought out exhibits that can be viewed and interacted with. They make it so that it's immersive and fun for the entire family.
John Mullen
Great place to visit. It has something new all the time
Ari T
Great place on a rainy day. I do wish they would maintain the old exhibits. It's not fun to play with broken or missing exhibits.
richard (ukchard)
Great place for family and definitely for the little ones. There's a lot to explore and discover. Definitely worth visiting at least once
Gavin Pham
Pixar exhibit was so cool and SUPER well made. Would recommend for any age, it explains very complicated animation principles through simple, interactive experiences.
Mallory Wilson
I took my one year old recently and we had a wonderful time! He loved the robot exhibit! The children's playground was also a great hit! I've never been in there before and we could spend all day in there.
Katharine Foster
My 4 yr old had a great time. He especially enjoyed the area where he could build things with woodpieces, plastic nuts and bolts, and plastic gears. He made an awesome boat car :) There's a variety of stations so it's great for all ages and interests.
Tee Savagee
I visited Portland twice and each visited this Interactive museum both times.
I purchased many things from the gift shop and unfortunately a few of my item got misplaced for shipping.
Even with time much time passing ( since spring break -summer) Phil made sure I received my items plus MANY extras for the inconvenience. I appreciate their time, dedication and customer service.
You’ll learn many things at this place.
Nathan Crosby
OMSI is pretty magical. I worked there for a time leading the Mythbusters Exibit and got to see first hand that the people who run the show are always innovating and bringing new and exciting exhibits and demonstrations to the museum. And getting adults back in with OMSI after dark was a stroke of genius. Adults can have just as much wonder at the world as kids, sometimes we just need a push to remind us.
Tyson Smurov
A very fascinating museum for children and their parents))) It was interesting!
Adeline Weyland
A family favorite for years, we also love the classes. We've been doing homeschool classes there for 3 years now and they have been amazing. They are exploratory and allow the kids to really understand the scientific process while having a lot of fun. We are there every week and still have not tired of it.
Elaine Rem
It's good to be back at OMSI. I haven't gone there since 7th grade. It was Human Body World.
Aline Vega
Great family time exploring Omsi's Dino exhibit. Highly recommend😊 …
Drew Hanft
The robot exhibit was a ton of fun, with lots of interactive demos. Add that to the kids area and other shows and it's a good way to wear out the kids (and parents tool.
Tyler Christensen
Great for kids! But it would be nice if some of the exhibits considered an adult audience too. The laser show was fun though!
Alicia Johnson
The Dinosaurs Revealed Exhibit was AMAZING!!! We all had fun from the 2yr old to teenager to my old self, it was a blast!!!
Tanis Justice (tanisjustice)
Don’t get me wrong, I love OMZI, but the prices... I was happy to get to the King Tut exhibit but still overwhelmed with the price.
Jeanette Fox
We love coming here for all the events and exhibits. Random side note the hotdogs at the concession stand were oddly amazing!
Mike Karen Fallows
So of fun, I thought I knew everything about dinosaurs.... Learned a lot today!
Victoria Brown
Amazing exhibits. My family had a blast. The space show is a must see. But the new born birth exhibit is definitely the highlight of our trip. Absolutely incredible experience.
Averi Edmister
If you haven't had a chance to check out the exquisite creatures exhibit yet you should! It was amazing!
Dahlia Ramos
Currently they only have the dinosaurs exhibit. And a selected cinemas open
Palitha Liyanage
This eye opening center of science and technology is a place you should go with kids. I have none so I went with my wife and we had a great time visiting USS Blueback- the decommissioned navy submarine.
Jessica Nelson
Wonderful, safe and learning environment for kids of all ages. My daughter and I love the kids play area. Hours and hours of fun!
James Stasi
Great museum, something for the whole family. We have been several times. The pompeii exhibit was worth the extra money, you can finish it in less than an hour.
Maureen Fike
Had a wonderful time with my daughters. Would go back again.
Tanya Young
Yeah family thought we could get to the center early veggie they opened so we wouldn't have to wait, plus it was a weekday so shouldn't be busy, of heck no! Never seen someplace so busy and they just kept letting people in. The exhibits were cute, way more geared for small children. My favorite part was walking through the submarine, that was awesome, plus we had a talkative informative guide which always helps. Waiting an hour to see Lego's.... really that was not all it was cracked up to be. Yes he's very talented but we spent less than 10 min walking through. So if you are looking for something that will take all day and a big chuck of money, go for it.
[Fu]Z NaVeL
Fantastic Marvel Exhibit.
Tommy
Great for kids, tho adults could also find some interesting exhibits and things to learn.
Gerard
Finally made it! The King Tut exhibit was absolutely incredible! My kiddo loved all of the learning opportunities and puzzles as did we! Get here!
James Hernandez
Great time for a date or a family outing
Maddy Lindstrand
We recently became members after moving to the area and we loved our first visit. There was lots to do for kids and our 3 year old and 10 month old loved the inside playground room. we went on a Wednesday afternoon and it was pretty much empty which we loved. It was fun having the place to ourselves. We can’t wait to come back
K. Drake
I have loved visiting OMSI since I was a kid, and it is still such a fun place. Love the encouragement for hands on exploration and experimentation. Every visit makes me feel like a kid again, and I get excited to learn and do something new.
Maleah Upah
Good for younger kids. Great geology and biology exhibits. Super interactive
iLarold
Wait time was a bit ridiculous to get in, I don't understand why you have to wait in a line that wraps all the way down a side hall if you've already purchased everything online? They had only 2 of the 5 or 6 windows open for general admission... We had fun but some parts are still not open, and my kids are about at the age where it wasn't very engaging but we still liked it.
Chris James
No matter what age you (or your kid(s)) are, there is something here that will pique your interest!! Also, of you're over 21, you absolutely need to check out OMSI After Dark!!
Michele Berionne
Fantastic day with 5yo. He loved it and we spent the entire, without visiting it all. We need to go back! Only negative part is the restaurant... super long wait for a grilled cheese sandwich, quite unprepared. The submarine is really cool.
Lusi Hong
Tuesday morning visit review: second floor playground for age 0-6 is definitely fun to visit. Park stroller outside, bathroom, changing table and diaper is provided, many cube shelf for putting your backpack and water bottle. * Reminder: rain boots with a changed clothes and pant is a must to bring. That water splash section is popular and little ones love to make the water splits every where.
Tuesday is not busy since we came on 9:30AM, it gets crowded in playground around 11AM. There is a sand playing section and eating area inside playground.
Overall, great place! Worth membership.
Amber Mina
It was a nice and very informative experience. Unfortunately, there wasn't a whole lot of people thar worked there so it was hard to find someone to ask questions.
Conour Reviews
Very cool exhibits and was great fun two of us got in for about $40 submarine tour is worth the money (its short but very interesting and some great photo ops)
Jeana JT “MsDiabla” Steinborn
Not as many exhibits, but a ton of hands on activities for all ages to enjoy.
Trillion Cooper
Had a great time at the dinosaur exhibit, we missed the north exhibit that was closed for Covid.
sarah zellner
So much family fun science exploration we had a blast
Ted Voelkel
All in all, OMSI costs more than it’s worth. The submarine, planetarium, and theater are great, but you have to pay extra for all three. The museum’s main exhibit halls are borderline ancient and haven’t been updated in what feels like decades. It’s too bad, because it used to be a great local place to take your kids, but now it’s too expensive for too little. Also, if your kids are more than about 10, they probably won’t get much out of the exhibits, most of them are for pretty little kids.
Krystina Louis
We have been there before and it was great. Went there for the first time since covid. The restaurant was closed, the Cafe didn't have food available, only chips and bottled drinks. This wouldn't have been a problem if they didn't still have signs up, and the website, stating that they had food. The teen area and natural science areas were closed, there were parts of the da vinci exhibit that were non functional. The interactive areas of the exhibit were missing pieces and torn up (I blame this more on parents than the staff). Additionally the areas that were open were not well maintained(see above note on parents). Hoping it is just due to getting back into the swing of things but it was not worth the almost $80 for two children and two adults. Glad we pre purchased our tickets though, as general admission was sold out.
Susannah Krug
Had an amazing time at OMSI, as always, but PROMSI was extra fun!
Serina Gee
Pretty fun visit, though we were probably the only couple in there without kids. Most of the attractions are geared towards kids but we had fun kind of playing around anyway. It's not as large or interactive as the Exploratorium in San Francisco, but it's very similar.
joanne haberlin
Really enjoyed the two exhibitions we saw. We did Tutankhamun and the USS Blueback. Wish we had come earlier in the day to see more but it was really our poor planning.
Sara Coulson
I remember OMSI being much more fun Pre-Covid. I do understand that's much has been closed or shut down due to health reasons but I was surprised to see the exhibits to be lacking in one way or another.
The Da Vinci exhibit was fantastic for those who are interested in him as an inventor. I'd suggest it for adults and kids over 12.
The hands on area for kids was always a boon to OMSI but I noticed that some things were not really working due to overuse. I know that happens but also there were pieces from one experiment mixed with other experiments making it hard for kids under 10 to know what they are supposed to do. That area really needs volunteers to keep the objects where they belong and to explain what they are intending you to learn.
Chem lab was closed. Sad...but I do understand everything can't be open all the time. I noticed an exhibit past the gift shop and it was just a lot of presentation stands about nature. I wasn't even quite sure what the exhibit was for as it was not part of the Nature Science wing despite it seeming to belong there.
Every exhibit had some weird thing lacking. I'm sure this is due to loss of staff, due to COVID. It seems OMSI needs to have a new "project manager" if that's the correct word, or needs to offer incentives for volunteers and ideas that will keep OMSI interesting again. The Oregon Zoo is also suffering from this problem of lack of volunteers/speakers. Hopefully next year OMSI will be able to rebound from COVID.
At this time I can say it's worth seeing, but the cost of seeing all available exhibits and attractions is not. You really have to pick and choose otherwise the total cost does not substantiate the experience.
Ian Crosno
Awesome experience for kids and adults! Lucky enough to see the robotics exhibit last week and it was eye opening. Loved the films and the planetarium. Will be back again!
Casandra Hylton
Pompeii was a great exhibit. Informative on the daily lives people lived before the horrific destruction.
Michelle Whitt
If you or your family love science, this is the place you! My daughter and I took the kids, although grown, everyone enjoyed the experience as though we were kids! Yes, including myself! 😁😊 P.S. Remember your parking stall number! 😉 …
Roger Moya
It's always a pleasure to visit OMSI. The Pompei exhibit was mind blowing, no pun intended. I boarded a submarine for the first time here. The Star Trek exhibit was also a great experience when the complex was up by the zoo. As you can see the many exhibits are worth a lifetime.
Jackson Karaganis
Had a great time with my partner and really loved the King Tut exhibit!
The Many Adventures of Hawk & Kee
Went to the Animatronic Dinosaur exhibit! Awesome! Checked out the Paleontology Lab! Aaawsome!!!
David Poulin
Only is a fantastic place to bring your kids for educational fun. And also just plain fun adults can have fun playing with all the equipment too. The only negative is that some of the exhibits are run down and broken and they need better maintenance. The laser light show is definitely fun for kids and adults.
June TwentyEighth
I had such an amazing time at OMSI after dark. I went with a few friends to see the king tut exhibition. I can't wait to go again.
Tim Blalock
Best place for kids or adults that are still kids at heart. The submarine tour was probably the best, mature experience here but overall was good for a once in a lifetime visit for us as tourists.
Alesha Horrocks
I don’t understand the no photograph rule for the Da Vinci Exhibit. Most museums allow flash free photos of artifacts. Since the exhibit is primary reconstructions or replicas, it seemed like an especially unnecessary rule. Maybe it was to help keep people moving through???
I appreciated the teen area, since my 13 year old was getting annoyed by all the little kids. It insured he had a good time as well.
I wish everything wasn’t a separate add on. It has the potential to be a very expensive for a family.
Nichole Curtis
It was disappointing, paid a bit of money lots of closed rooms😪 …
Chelsey Hoge
My kids had a blast for our first time there. Also, check out this walking, biking, running path on the river right behind it. It was gorgeous
Daniel Cooper
Absolutely love it. King tutankhamun exhibit was incredible.
Ria
One of the coolest and most interactive museums I have ever been too. The exhibits are fun and kids will have an awesome time learning with hands on experiments.
Joe Kronner
What a great museum. The submarine tour was excellent and the museum was a lot of fun and very hands on. The Pompeii exhibit was amazing. A great day!
Krystle Berry
OMSI is great! If you are in the Portland area, definitely make it a point to visit. Be sure to check the website to see what their featured exhibit will be and give yourself lots of time in order to adequately experience everything.
Brian Stillson
Omsi after dark for Bacon Bourbon night was fun and eventful, although it seemed almost too crowed that was part of the appeal and kept others moving. I would attend another function there but have plans to do some local things as well if the crowded area becoms over whelming.
Sean McEwan
Such a great space for taking young kids to get them engaged in STEM
christine kenaston
Love this place..right under lots of construction, so it was less expensive. So didn't get the full OMSI affect!
Dustin Weisman
Love OMSI! Did the sub, watched a show in the planetarium, and saw the Dino exhibit! What a fun day, absolutely worth every penny!
Kel Shaw
This place rocks...the whole family lives this place, the big kids as well. There is so much to explore at this awesome museum. Rates are quite fair. Definitely a stop, while in Portland.
Teodor Olson
OMSI is definitely a fun and interesting place to go. There'a a planetarium, theater, and two levels to the building, containing different attractions during different times of the year.
Joyce Chan
Very expensive. Basic admission won't get you much. There are two movies and both are extra. Da Vinci Code exhibit is extra. Submarine tour is extra. Didn't enjoy the Da Vinci Code exhibit but it's a personal thing... Maybe I was expecting it to be more artsy. It's actually about his role as an inventor with a lot of nicely made models and detailed currations. Food in cafe was affordable and filling. AAA card gives you $1 off!
megan payne
The kids had so much fun and you can just walk around for hours
Christine K
The staff is great! The Pompeii exhibit was beautifully arranged and presented. The museum is smaller than I expected. Brought my 14 year old twins and they were bored. We have been to Sioux Falls', Chicago's and Baltimore's Science & Industry museums and expected it to, at least, be up to grade with them but it wasn't. Extremely disappointed with their Planetarium wing. Nothing there that doesn't cost money. Great for young kids, school groups and members but don't make it a stop if you have limited time in Portland.
Gerard Gousman
Never a dull day, and the exhibits are always top notch. For the staff to be volunteers, they Embrace visitors with great care.
Nakita Benjamin
a little over priced. we're not from that area, but where we do live has a children's science museum for a fraction of the cost. but the hypothesis experiment was fun to watch. would've been awesome if the "animal lab" would've been open to public
Louis Manzi
Fun and interactive for kids and adults alike. Price is worth admission because there is plenty to do. There is also a retired submarine tour for an additional cost. @offgridphotography
Brittney Lee
Very fun for the family. Not as good as it used to be but would have had a better visit if we went to one of their showings.
Echoleo O
Been going here since I was very young, a very special place. An amazing place to see all sorts of things, (they even have a axolotl!).
John Panzer
A really good exhibit on King Tut. Tons of activities for the kids to do, just get there early, because it gets busy!!
Salem Rabliman
This museum great for people of all ages, I'm 24 and I had a great time!
Raul
Had a great time learning many different things about the evolution of the human body, plus during this time they did a great job maintaining space and providing an interactive experience while adhering to safety practices. Definatetly worth checking out with kids, friends, family or significant other.
John Roberts
Four Stars I love this place it's constantly changing there's always new exhibits you can keep taking your family back here to something new
kelli bingham
Great place for kids. Lots for them to do and learn. Our 7 year old loved it.
Bekki Lowrance
Super fun for all ages. Touring the submarine was definitely our favorite part of the day.
Chace Marlow
The staff was amazing and helpful!!! There new dinosaur exhibit and tour was very cool and exciting for children and adults alike. It was different to be able to experience first hand the uncovering/exposure of new fossils by an actual paleontologist. All around an amazing experience and we will definitely be doing it again
Clay Walker
Great place to do interactive science with your kids on a wide variety of "experiments". $2 Sundays are a cheap outing.
If you are an adult without children, the museum will probably be boring save for a couple exhibits - this place is all about kids. It's definitely not worth the regular price of general admission alone. If you're going to do a tour go on a $2 Sunday.
The museum has a small collection spread across several disciplines. The human development exhibit of actual fetuses was unique and fascinating.
Mike on the USS Blueback tour was fantastic. His first hand anecdotes really helped give you a sense of what life was like on a diesel sub.
L Wong
My teenagers enjoyed all the games and brain teasers. They learned alot about earthquakes, wave movement, sound, and wind. Fossils, minerals, snow, life stages were interesting as well. Spent over 2 hours there.
JoAnne Scalf
Went to get out of the heat. Great visit. Great robot exhibit for young and old! Kids loved the hands on.
Jason Fobes
Nice and clean searing in the imax. The Lazer show in the planetarium was dizzying and I would not recommend it. Kind of boaring. Not sure how the other shows stack up to the one in NYC. They have some cool labs you can participate in and some fun since gizmos to play with. Very hands on. Was a little disappointed with the room for the really little kids because many of the machines were broken.
Kevin C
Always educational and fun. Fascinated by the Body World exhibit
Richard Daniels
Very cool place, for kids (and adults) of all ages.
Sabrina Lightfoot-Montero
It’s…smaller than I expected.
There are some awesome exhibits though. If you’re going to go, I’d suggest a weekday. Because of the size it gets overcrowded very quickly.
Pam B
Always a great place to hang out on a rainy or sunny day and go visit a submarine and see a special exhibit! Great place to bring the family.
Chantia Clarke
Love, love, love this place. I recently did OMSI after dark here and had a blast! The view of downtown is not bad on the eyes either.
Michael Doublin
OMSI is a great place to bring your kids, so many interactive exhibits to expand your mind. The planetarium is awesome and they have a theater that plays educational documentaries and other things. The gift shop has done interesting things you can do with your child. If you are interested in engaging your child with nature and the world around them this place is a must go!
Beverly Wolfe
Took our 3 grandchildren and thought it was done well and stimulated some good conversation regarding what we think we see actually isn’t. Thought it was too expensive that my just turned 14 yr old was charged adult fare.
Victoria Quick
Fun gift shop and interactive exhibits. Admission was a tad steep.
Thomas Greer
Had a company here and the environment is excellent. They have food and a movie theater and awesome exhibits for the whole family
Alex Hill
OMSI OMSI OMSI OMSI OMSI OMSI!!!!! That's the sound running in your head after a visit (or 100 of them). Great fun, a first rate science center. Includes an imax theatre and a great planetarium. It also attracts popular and interesting traveling exhibits, so check what's 'showing' before you go if interested. I'd say age range is from early (5ish) to maybe 12? (although fun for adults too!).
Lepetit Rigory
Great place for kids 👏 customer service needs some improvement …
Aura Hijleh
Nice place, went in for the king Tut exhibit, too much in the moment, no pics.
Lindsey Robison
This place was awesome for all the kids. They have something for everyone here including the parents. The general admission will get you into about 60% of the building with tons for the kids to explore. A hand full of attractions do require additional fees for entry but you can make a whole day out of a GA pass. As a parent it was great to sit back and let the kids explore the physical world around them: from water runoff, to wave power, bridge designs, to turbines. They offer so many hands on activities you will just have to check it out for yourself!
As an engineer I thoroughly enjoyed the clockworks they have on display. As well as the other whimsical engineering contraptions they must collect to keep things interesting.
troy smith
The special exhibits are amazing. Just plan ahead before you go to have the best experience!
B Mang
Very nice place for kids especially. Lots of fun little stations for kids to explore different aspects of the sciences. Personally thought planetarium was not worth the money. Should have headed to the claymation instead.
Natasha V.
Great afternoon out. The Da Vinci exhibit was amazing and the tour of the submarine was cool. Lots of interesting and educational games for the kids.
Peyush _ऽ
I loved the Planetarium show, the submarine tour and the robots inside science museum...
Alyssa Buller
My son and I always have a blast here!!! Of you take your time, you find something new and exciting each time you come back!! Worth every penny of membership.
Andrew Dang
So many things to do and learn, but so little time. One of the best science museums I've ever been to. I wish I had one of these near me as a kid.
lita maffi
I took my 11 year old to the Nelson Mandela exhibit, which was really well done. However, the downstairs activities were run down and the boats in the water zone were broken. It’s just not what it used to be. I realize with COVID there’s likely been some changes, but my daughter was really disappointed.
Jindriska Kosakova
I got this for my friend, her name is Crystal, and her birthday is next week. The guy at the store was great, I asked if they had any water for sale cause I was parched after walking around the Body Worlds Exhibit. I left and came back and he brought me a water. I couldn't believe how kind this human was to me. Over all great day at OMSI.
Jennifer OAKES
Spectacular event. So grateful we got to see the treasures of King Tut
Brianna Belew
Went to PROMSI (an after dark event, 21+) and everything was well put together and fun! Several drink stations and food spots, a lot of different exhibits and events going on and the laser show was SICK haha. There was also a coat check which was nice because of the cold/rain. Only thing that could have been better was maybe one more food truck, just because the lines were longgg.
Erin Baker
It's amazing and definitely a place you could spend hours in.
michael dunn
DaVinci exhibit is fabulous and a must see. Also be sure to see the James Cameron on the second floor.
Matt Burns
OMSI is always a big hit with the whole family. One could spend an entire day there and be ready for more the next day. Even if you think you don't like science, you'd still find a few things there to enjoy..
Shawna Koch
I fondly remember the OMSI from years ago. Unfortunately the OMSI I visited today is VERY different. Perhaps it was because I visited during the winter season but I will not be back. The staff was incredibly rude, and large crowds of unaccompanied children were running around rampant. almost 100% of the interactive activities were broken and unusable. We couldn’t enjoy even a fraction of the exhibits due to them not working or children cutting in front of us and mashing buttons. I recognize that it isn’t OMSI’s fault for bad parenting but it completely ruined our experience and as I said- we will not be back.
Ted DeRuyter
Great place, especially for 8-14 year olds. Be sure to check out the submarine.
L Wyman
My family spent several hours exploring all of the fantastic art displayed for the Portland Light Festival. We also enjoyed riding the Portland Spirit across the river during the event.
Emmanuel Marin
My son and I enjoyed going to omsi it there was so much activity for the kids.. and lots of learning facts.
kendi oldshield
The dinosaur exhibit was great. We had a blast. Even bought a membership so we could go back and the parking pass was only $10 for the year. Can't wait to check out the planetarium on the next visit.
Hana Krahenbuhl
OMSI has amazing exhibits, the most current one being King Tut. I was truly impressed with the care they took with creating a creative and informative exhibit.
Daphnie Lowery
2$ admission day is kind of a summer family tradition for myself and my babies. We really enjoy learning something new each time we go!
kduffmccall
Great museum - we saw the dinosaur exhibit and had a blast!
Mrs “Lacey” Martini
Although the explore by touching spaces are still closed due to COVID, we really enjoyed our visit. Kendall Planetarium shows a cute 25 minute animation about our solar system, along with several other shows. The Dinosaur exhibit has some amazing moving models that my kiddos loved. The Live Lab has really cool creatures such as snakes, geckos, tortoises, fish, stick bugs, and a hissing cockroach! The gift shop is a great place to grab some space and science kits, games, toys and great learning books.
Geri D
OMSI offers some of THE BEST views of downtown Portland.
Mahan Kaur
Love this place it’s a family tradition. I have been going here before it was in this location.
They have stayed true to learning and growing.
Leah
I'm very disappointed that they removed the Oregonian tower clock. Still was very fun visiting again, but the remodel they did was a huge mistake.
Jahuu
I totally recommend the submarine tour! Our guide worked once on a submarine and was the perfect tour guide. Good job John L.!
Jay Derderian
A Portland institution! Been going since I was a kid and now I'm bringing my own kid :)
Karyn Reinebach
The Marvel Exhibit is amazing and worth the extra fee, just expect to be in there for about 3 hours if you plan on reading everything.
Blake Soft
I have been here in a while but my children and I love OMSI. There are so many different exhibits and places to explore. This place is great for children of all ages. There is this cool war submarine there that you can buy tickets and go in it. They also have a movie theater with really good movies playing there. There food is outstanding! There are also sometime special exhibits during the summer like robots. There are a lot of places to walk around by the museum. They do charge you to park I think the fee is about 10$ per car. They also have a great gift shop with a lot of things to get. Last summer my son got a cool science set from there and is still using it. There is also a house where you can feel what it is like in a earthquake. There are also summer camps there where you get to explore the museum with the other kids and the teachers. When your at the summer camp you get to see a bunch of cool stuff. You can fill a tube with a certain amount of air and water and make your rocket fly really high. There are so many things to do and explore there this is the best museum in the world in my opinion. You should defiantly go to this museum.
Jamie Cooper
What a fantastic place for both kids and adults. A fun museum full of science and learning! We recently saw the dinosaur exhibit, it was lots of fun and educational too. The imax theater and planetarium are also great. Wonderful place to spend an afternoon!
Mickylene Delgado
I had a lot fun there with my family. Laika was amazing :)
Omar Naji
The museum is great, and the gift shop actually had some really cool educational toys for our young kids. The submarine was a real treat and even my wife, who normally isn't into that sort of thing loved it. The volunteer guide was informative and very nice.
Paul King
Good, but large amount closed, about a fourth of the hands on broken, missing parts, rode hard and put up wet. Right now a let down from three or four years ago. Assume it will get better but today was not that day.
Leo' Travel
First visit here. On a Father's day weekend around 11am parking was not a problem. We ended up getting a Family Plus membership with parking pass. Totally worth it. We have been to many tech museums and always feel a bit rushed in trying to get to everything. This way, kids can spend as much time as they want on whatever they want and I wouldn't care. The way it is right now, I think we just going to spend the whole day in the Turbine Hall today. We are doing everything there is in the Chem Lab and don't feel rushed. Staffs are friendly as well. Obviously we will be back!
Trey compton
great time and always fun with the kids. It does get extremely packed on 2 dollar Sunday.
Colby Reynoso
Always an amazing time! Amazing exhibits and they are ever changing. Highly recommend for families and just anyone that is interested in the wonders of the universe. Went to see Body Worlds this time around and was not disappointed. They were great about social distancing and had you select time slots to make sure there weren't too many people flooding in at the same time.
Brian C.
Greatest museum in all of Portland! Sooooo much fun stuff to play with and explore. No need to bring the kids.
SC Norvell
Such a fantastic time. The kids all want to be scientists when they grow up.
Deniece Halford
Too expensive. The movies are on paid tv and the planetarium is closed for remodel. If you have a discovery center it's about the same. Very tight streets, no rv parking. There is an overflow lot that you can park in if space available
Bonnie Etson
Always a great family day of learning and fun. Fantastic OMSI after Dark date nights for my husband and I.
Dan G.
Fun for the whole family and very affordable. Exhibits for all age groups. Lots of hands on things to explore.
Tom Parker
Not as good as our Exploratorium in San Francisco but fun for kids. Tickets required.
Tyler Gore
Always super fun for the kids and adults
Steven Kinley
I love this place. Great views of the river and nearby bridges. Plenty to do and see. Great place to take visitors from out of town.
Robyn Juarez
I took my family to omsi for the dinosaur exhibit and the tour of the submarine. I have a 6 year old and a 4 year old and it was truly amazing. Omsi is amazing at keeping safety measures in place for covid. Even in the submarine, we were with another party but only 6 total and they made sure we kept a safe distance. They made sure the kids still got to be interactive with as much as possible. Everyone was super nice and amazing. Very welcoming. We will definitely come back. Hopefully soon we can take them to the interactive play center. Thank you omsi!
Yolanda Santa Cruz
Great place to take kids, watch movies and go to the exhibitions.
catherine oyanagi
Long lines on weekend. Little overpriced. Toddler had fun at the sandpit and water table
David Silver
One of the best science museums. Appropriate for kids of all ages. The exhibits that rotate through are always worth a return visit.
Paul and Linnea Quam
It's a very nice museum. Either because of covid or wine other reason, it didn't seem like there were navy exhibits, especially to engage the tween age. Other than the dinosaur exhibit, the quality was very good.
Brian Wilcox
Fun for kids off all ages from 2 to 200. We were able to see the Tutankhamun exhibit and it was great.
Chris Day
I think the target age group is above 5 years old. I won’t be bringing my 2 year old back till he’s a little older. Lots to do and explore for kids full of curiosity.
Thomas Brandt
I love coming down to OMSI, they have wonderful city scapes of Portland and the experience is always intriguing. Highly recommended.
Katrina Jones
We love OMSI! Such a fun, interactive experience when not taking precautions due to the pandemic.
Right now (July 2020) only the Body exhibit and the submarine tours are open, general admission isn't an option. I felt very safe and still had a great experience with my two young boys. The boys enjoyed the exhibit, even though it was hands off, but definitely knew the experience wasn't as rich as the last time we came. (Only because they're young and need more tactile experiences).
They have great ideas of what to do at home and videos on their website to help create those tactile experiences at home.
Jason Waldron
Always a fun time at OMSI! Visited the dinosaurs this time.
Deivid Cardozo
We went to Marvel studio comic history and it look good.
Jennifer Ponce
We always enjoy our visits to OMSI!
Gwen Murbz
The Festival of Light at Omsi was so fun and interesting, it was a little too crowded but that's not their fault, I'm decently gonna come again next year
Bonnie Lundgren
Christopher Marley is the best exhibit ever!! I LOVE that it was included in the admission price. We came back pretty much just to see that!
Be aware of your have little kids that the regular science playground is shut down until spring for renovations, so there is just a consolation version (1/3 the size, not secure, no handy bathrooms). Otherwise, good times as usual.
Emily Roth
Great science museum with interactive exhibits for all ages. Kids room upstairs is good for babies through preschoolers, the other rooms are good for a wide variety of ages. Sometimes exhibits get tired, but they seem to consistently change stiff around and bring in interesting new stuff. I wish the big cafe was open past 3pm and that the planetarium show was better, but it's still a very fun place to take family and visiting friends.
Kim Rutley
Phenomenal experience. Perfect for kids and adults alike.
Jonathan Graham
Kids love it here. The main exhibit is always changing which is nice. They also move and change around a lot of the other exhibits. The planetarium is great for movies. We haven't hit the submarine yet but plan to next visit as we got an annual pass.
Seth Doray
Just visited this really awesome museum. There are lots of exhibits but as of the time I type this, most of them seem to be closed down for a while. They are only allowing 25% of their top capacity in via online scheduling. It's $20 per adult to see Body Worlds. Which was just fantastic. You really get to see how intricate and complex the human body is. I mean, every facet of what keeps us alive and helps us interact with our world, is so detailed. And the museum helps you see that detail in a relatable and visual sense. Mind you, I believe everything in this exhibit is real. It's actual preserved bodies. This includes the prenatal section as well. So a little surreal and maybe a bit daunting, but definitely inspiring. Lastly! The submarine that you get to tour as well is so cool! Built in the 50s I believe and super cramped. Really amazing tour of that as well.
Jason Taellious
What a blast. Serious fun for the adults and kids in our family.
Josie Lange
Loved the submarine tour! Super friendly and helpful staff. The planetarium was sick, have to go back for more shows there. The featured exhibit was neat, the other exhibits are super interactive but more geared towards kids, so perfect for families. The package deals for the sub, movie, and planetarium is definitely the best deal.
Christy Wheeler
OMSI is great for all ages. For 0 to 6 there is a play area upstairs that had a sand pit (super clean, sparkly sand), water area, nature area, and much more. Young kids can spend hours in there. Then there are exhibits upstairs and downstairs that are great for age 2 to teenagers (I often see parents participate too!). They also have fantastic rotating exhibits that are always very interesting. They have a great gift store, bathrooms everywhere, two food cafes, a submarine tour, a planetarium, and a theater to watch science movies. Their memberships are the best in town and I'd highly recommend getting one so you can go back and explore the place over and over.
Judd Everts
OMSI felt like a entirely new experience this time. I really enjoyed the Illusions Exhibit.
Chris Nelson
This a great museum fir the whole family. Tons if hands-on exhibits (pre-covid) for kids, and plenty interest adults. The IMAX theater, planetarium, rotating exhibits, and US Navy Sunmarine tour make fir a day that everyone can enjoy - not just children.
Samantha Martin
Pretty cool, but very pricey if you want to see all the exhibits. The basic admission does not allow you to see much. You only get to really see 2 rooms. However, maybe if I had children it would have been more enjoyable. The museum is very kid friendly and there is a lot of different activities to do for them!
Adrian V
My family and I had a great time! The museum is excellent, we spent the entire day there; however, we enjoyed the submarine tour the most. There are different museum packages to choose from which I wasn't too happy about because it gets pricey real fast if you want to see Everything.
Gabe Cordova
Was a great experience for my family and I. Son loved the dinosaur experience(reason we went). He was surprised that they moved. It was well managed and flowed really well and kept covid ruled in mind. Kids and adults alike will love the experience.
Tami Cook
Love all the hands on activities for the kids. My boys love it here
Martina Clements
I like OMSI. I like that it still offered some fun things to do while COVID happened but they are WAY WAY OVERPRICED for those things. The submarine tour was AMAZING. We got SUPER lucky because we did the last tour of the day and it was 4 of us; my friend and her son and me and mine. My son wanted to do something with his bestie so we went. The tour was so great; we all wore masks, kept socially distanced and had an AWESOME tour guide.
We also did the Bodies exhibit. Now IMO this is a HUGE waste of money unless you're super into anatomy and science. I was also really disappointed in the other patrons desire to keep masks on and to socially distance the tour; and there were no staff members to ask them to do so either once you were "in" the exhibit.
My personal opinion is do NOT visit unless you're doing the submarine tour, and do NOT go back until they're fully opened because the pricing was insane to basically have access to nothing.
Jessica Ebarb
So fun for kids! We were there during a deal where it was only $2pp to get in. Great deal! It took us about 2 hours to cruise through. We didn't do the extra exhibits due to toddler nap time but would have loved to do the submarine and the planetarium! The growth of a human baby was the most interesting to me! Wow!
Travis Woods
Always an awesome experience. They do great with all of their exhibits. My 3 year old loves the kid play area. The kid area is educational as well as fun. I noticed the OMSI employees using lysol on most of the surfaces on several occasions which during flu season, makes me feel more at ease. Can't wait to take my little one back for the next exhibit which is Robots.
Pete Richardson
Followers of my local reviews will know that I’ve danced around this entry for a LONG TIME. Kind of a “will he or won’t he” dynamic. Honestly I didn’t feel I was ready to tackle a landmark like OMSI until now. But after fourteen trips to OMSI over the last month, the time for my official review has finally come!
Before I get into the Oregon Medical Science Institute, I’d like to thank my followers who show their support by reading, liking, commenting, and sending donations so that I can do this important work for our community in Portland.
I’d also like to take this moment to thank the board of trustees who lead and administrate OMSI so that we can come and see these exhibits year after year.
Of course I can’t go on without saying that I would be nothing without my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who bought me with His precious blood and called me to His kingdom as an heir of grace and unmerited blessing. All the glory and fame and recognition truly belong to Him alone. It’s not just that He helped me see the error of my ways — no it’s so much more than that. He continually shows me the infinite goodness of His character, His redemption, His recreation of the world: one soul at a time. Yes He is good! So let’s praise him, Portland!
As for OMSI, who cares? It’s a family-friendly place with information and art … but it pales in comparison to the presence of the holy God, dwelling in my heart and giving my life meaning as I offer my whole self to his service.
Does it sting to deny myself in favor of God’s likeness? You bet it does. Is it agonizing to know that I’ll continue sinning every single day even though I say I love God more than anything? Uh huh, big time. Does it grieve me that I don’t have all the answers to satisfy the valid questions of unbelievers and skeptics? That’s gonna be a Y-E-S, brothers and sisters. But I persevere because it’s not about me. I’m just an ornament of celestial praise, pointing to the real star of the show: God almighty, the maker of all things and the king of the universe!
Thanks for reading and don’t forget to tap the 👍 if you appreciated my in-depth review. This helps others find my review and make informed decisions about their next trip or meal. So until next time: peace out, Portland!

So much fun for the whole family! I could bring the kids every week, and there would always be something new to see!
Jason Hitzert
It was crowded, expensive and we didn't get to see everything we wanted to but my kids had a great time.
Shane Rooney
Cool place to check out if you have time specially if you have kids!
Paul Gonzalez
Lots of great activities for the kids. Start with museum access. Come back for the extra stuff. Just to much to do in a day.
Jeremiah Beene
Great museum with very little to improve! The rotating main exhibits are typically really interesting, the attached food spot is was well above average, and there is a kids section that is pretty great! They could maybe throw in some seasonal activities or other incentives to keep my membership value up, though.
Jeremy Engman
Unless you pay extra for the main exhibit, it was just ok.

Always a fun place for the kids!! Great customer service!! Gift shop is a little too expensive, though.

There is something here for everyone. You can see a movie on a huge screen, pet a snake or visit the special exhibition then enjoy good food at the Theory restaurant.

Saw the Exquisite creatures exhibit today. Fantastic!

A very interesting museum. As an engineer, I found it very intriguing for myself, let alone for kids. Engineering concepts such as shuttle launching, seismic waves, telephone, etc are delicately modeled in such a way that is useful not only for kids but also for adults whom are unfamiliar with the concepts. There are puzzles throughout the museum that, I've got to admit, are sometimes difficult even for adults. Strongly recommend it and I regret that I didn't buy the ticket for the planetarium.

Nice experience, lots of people after 1p.m so I recommend going earlier. Really pricey but my daughter had fun.

Kids never want to leave and always go back. We sure are happy to be going back. Perfect way to stay dry on a rainy day.

It was interesting. I love the rocks and the bones and the baby exhibit was very interesting. Little bit of a warning the babies you are about to see are real.

What a fun place for both children and their parents. The place is so huge we could not go through everything in a day.
Your children will learn by playing, which is the way to go!
We have an infant and a preschooler. There was a big playroom you get in without shoes on you and it has a fenced infant play room where non-walkers or a mature walkers can play safely.
Good place to take a break for parents too.
Their cafeteria has surprisingly good foods. The quality is good, the quantity is great, and the price is average.
We went there on the first Sunday. Hence the admission fee for an adult was 2 dollars.

Very fun and big place to take your little ones to go to. My kids love going there. Quite a few activities that they can do there. They can interact and learn about science and technology. They have some regular shows in their planetarium. They also have quite different movies or shows in their main planetarium. Although some of the fees are very expensive. The staffs are very friendly and helpful. This place is actually kept quiet nice and clean.

Great place very open space. Plenty of room and accessibility for disabled persons. Lots of cool photo opportunities with tanks, planes, space crafts, and plenty more. Unlike other museums this one takes a lot longer to explore for the size of the exhibits and facilities is grand. Only one star off because they got cool water park next store and cost a little high for low income.

Leonardo da Vinchi exhibition is great! Adults and kids had so much fun.

OMSI is usually better. I understand why things are not as great as they used to be. Some areas are under construction. Some are due to covid protocols. Still, it was a bummer to be there and only have 1/3 of the attractions open. Still a great visit. Loved the Dino exhibit.

Love this place. We have been members for a few years and mainly use the kids section. My kids (4 years old) always have a great time. It's a bummer that part of the room is under construction because my kids loved the water feature the most. It's also a bummer that we have to pay to see the traveling exhibits. Personally, I think it should be included in my $100+ membership.

A great place for kids, but if you're just a group of adults visiting, be prepared for crowds of kids running around everywhere. I just did the basic museum admission today. It was an okay way to spend an hour or two. If I go back, I'll check out the submarine tour and the movie theater, which both seem like they would be interesting. Nice views of the river and the city from the outside of the museum grounds. Easy access to the museum from the MAX and Portland Streetcar.

They have really interesting shows there. I saw the Pompeii show the last time I was there. It was amazing!
Julio Hernandez
Went during covid on a weekday. It was not as fun as it was for the kids even when we went on a weekday under normal circumstances. A lot of the activity areas were closed and they basically denied us to enter the submarine attraction because we had a party of 8. I understand the rules and regulations but I think having controlled amounts of children would not affect anything at this stage.
