Reviews of Superstition Mountain - Lost Dutchman Museum
Steve Garland
Everyone was very knowledgeable and especially friendly. They wanted to make sure that you enjoyed your visit.
I got there about 10 am and left just a little before 3 pm. I spent most of my time outside walking up the hill/mountain. It was an easy walk and there were benches to sit, in order to enjoy the various views.
I highly recommend everyone go. If you don't go into the museum area inside the gift shop, there's no charge to see everything outside, including the barn with it's many exhibits, and the Elvis Presley church, where you can book a wedding or special event.
If you want to make a donation, there's several places to drop money 💰 into a donation box. I would recommend making a donation to keep this national treasure open and available.

Fun & unique area! You can spend as much or as little time as you want here. All the activities are not always available so be sure to make sure you’re going at a time with what you want to see. The mining/ gold panning wasn’t available today but the trains were running & the shoot out show was happening! Not a lot of shady spots to hang out and cool down in outside though. The big indoor museum costs several dollars a person but you can also just come for all the rest of the activities which are free.
Jerica Jenkins
Nice little museum to visit with indoor and outdoor exhibits within sight of the Superstition Mountains. Lots of history of the area and mountains. Even have some of the movie buildings that didn’t burn down from the fire on the western set they had here in AZ. I was sad that the historic model train and settlement display was closed but it was cool to see the old mining equipment they used. I know they do a variety of different events up here from time to time and they are listed on their website. If you are up this way I would also recommend taking the additional three minutes to go up to the Goldfield Ghost Town and Mine Tours. It makes for a nice day activity.

Randomly stopped by on my way home from Lost Dutchman State Park and I was super happy I did! Very sweet museum with great views of the Superstition Mountains. Lots to see on site from a barn, trains, petting zoo on Saturdays, little gift shop, and a labyrinth - and even a chapel dedicated to Elvis. Cute fun stop for anyone visiting the area to learn more about the history of the area.

First water to jacobs crosscut to prospector trail. Plenty of hikers today. Appeared to be many first time and families with small children on the way up as we were coming down. This is a great trail. A little hard to follow at times if you have not been here before. Ask people around you if you are unsure. Plenty if experienced hikers around most of the time.

OMG!! I'm beginning to more and more discover Arizona and its amazing and beautiful but stunning lakes lately. First, you can park for free if no parking available, you can park along aside the road providing you dont interfere or block traffic. Second, you can bring your own food and or, do your own BBQ here. There are plenty of tables everywhere. You can take a swim as well. You can bring your own boat and yes there is a boat ramp. There are at least three to four bathrooms available. Is free to enter. One thing I didn't like about it is the fact there's garbage everywhere and sad to say, people are just lazy as hell not to pick up after themselves. Amazing. You can bring you pets. They don't allow glass bottles of any kind. Thank God for that. This lake is huge. Beautiful and relaxing. You hot to go here. I recommend it.

Superstition Mountain area: Goldfield town is a fun tourist town complete with general, steakhouse, church, mining equipment, train, and Zipline. No entrance fee or parking charges. A must see.
Visit the chapel at Apache Museum and walk the grounds where you will see mining equipment, stage coach, and barn, mill, site of a plane crash, and views of the Superstition Mountains!
There's dry camping in several areas but be sure to check the area out as there are long term camps that appear questionable.
Kurt Willmon
Expect to spend about an hour or so here unless you walk the upper trails. In that case, give it a couple of hours.
There's no entrance fee but, donations are gladly accepted. Lots of historic movie related buildings and artifacts in addition to local historic items and a gift store. Train buffs will get a kick out of the miniature trains. Only the gift store/museum is air conditioned so, if heat is a problem for you, visit between late fall and early spring. That way you can see everything instead of just a small portion.
Christine W
Come on who cannot love the lore of superstition mountain???.. It's great down time for the family. Let the kids run around outside in the heat tire them out. There's a fun little inside museum for a small fee. Which was very informative. I enjoyed it. And this place has Taco the Tortoise!!! Who cannot love a place that has Taco the tortoise? Don't forget to visit the church the king is alive and well in AZ. All hail to the King.
Rita Figueroa
Enjoyed this stop! It's free, no sales tax either if you buy something from the gift shop. Got to see Elvis Presley Chapel and all the volunteers are knowledgeable and helpful
Birdlady
Love this small place too full of history. Used to make alot of cowboy movies here. Free for gift shop didn't go in museum.
Paul Juser
A fun stop on the edge of the desert. The museum was small, but full and well-kept. Staff was on hand to answer questions and illuminate the displays. Great view of the Superstition Mountains on the backside of the property. I bought a bottle of Barf Soda in the gift shop.
Michael Calcinari
The location is amazing, and the museum and outdoor displays are engaging and informative. We enjoyed the entire experience and spent over 2 hours exploring 😊
Lori
Interesting history that I didn't know. The model trains were my favorite. I could have spent much longer looking. We enjoyed a picnic, but needed shade.
Jackie OhhNoo!
To walk around is free, the museum is $7 (if I remember correctly) per person, less for seniors and children.
Ericka Sutton
Excellent! The show they put on is good and I love seeing the donkey. The mountain is beautiful too.
Tabatha Marie
Went on the most foggy day and I had a blast!! What a scenic place!!
Tina Harvey
Beautiful stop. Lovely area. Train set up was terrific. Very interesting. A must see.

UPDATE JAN 18. We visited AGAIN (it's addictive) and renewed our membership and toured the newly expanded & remodeled museum located inside the gift shop. What a pleasant surprise! This museum is not a repeat of other southern Arizona museums. The content is all local and specific to the region and the Superstition Mountains geology, history and native inhabitants. Very well done. Small, yes, but chock full of educational, informative, interesting and entertaining material. A must-see. The gift shop is loaded with fun items for purchase at very reasonable prices. There's also an extensive offering of southwestern jewelry. Membership gets you nice discounts when you purchase items. The museum also hosts free weekly outdoor lecture series every Thursday at 2:00, along with the model railroad working train displays. You have to visit. New pics attached.
We LOVE Superstition Mountain Museum and all that the surrounding grounds have to offer. What a great way to spend a day. A neat little gift store, free lecture series during the winter months when temps are in the comfortable 70s, and much more. A must-visit destination in Apache Junction.
Corey McLaughlin
Such a great place to hike. Views on views... :)
Rene
We love camping here. Very clean and the views are to die for.
Robert Mabrey
Great people, very friendly, knowledgeable staff. Will always retirn. Great old town feel, must see the train Diaroma. Amazing views.
Jennalyn Bayani
I love the place. Great for the whole family🙂 …
Bf Dog
This is a great private museum. Outside exhibition is free, the museum hall is 7 bucks with senior, military and first responder discounts on top of that.
Really nice homage to the legend of the Lost Dutchman Mine as well as the residents of the Apache Junction area.
Pretty nice exhibit on the old Apache Land movie Era.
Outdoor trains and Saturday shootouts along with Thursday area lectures.
Definitely check their website for a schedule of events.
Lisa Kent
I suggest visiting this place! Only have to pay entrance to the museum and the rest of the grounds and attractions are free to walk around.
Tom Ervasti
Very enjoyable, smaller than Ghostfield, less commercial, easier to walk around.
EDDIE VALLEE
Two words: F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C!! The volunteers here are very passionate, friendly and knowledgeable. The huge model train in the back is one of the best! One of my favorite areas as a Tour Guide to go!
:)
Brian Adams
Real nice place to visit. Interesting gold mining equipment. Most is free, but the inside museum was $7 per person. We did not take that tour. Well worth stopping and checking out.
Tracie Y
This museum is great - and the ladies there know everything there is to know about the place. The crew walking around or by the trains do as well. Prices in the shop are amazing. I literally Christmas shop here. Worth the drive out there even if you are a local. They always have family events and things going on all year long. Very educational but loaded with mystery and fun.
Judy Grant
Beautiful park ! Campground looks amazing. I hope to camp there next time I am on the area !
J Millz
Amazing staff full of knowledge. Great museum and gift shop. Loved the chapel and the barn. The trains were mine and my kids favorites. Loved all the history of the natives and the area including the Lost Dutchman.
Devon Bowsher
Beautiful park. Very separated ramadas if you need one so you don't feel crowded
Bill Bogan
Will definitely be going back to hit the 15 acres of trails!
Carolyn Kraus
Always love going through the museum and walking the paths. Great views of the town and the Superstition mts.
Phillip Reed
A nice educational experience. If you are not familiar about gold mining in the past and how it was done, and the machines that were used, this might be a good place to visit, a few small businesses places to snack and eat. It is not far from Queen Creek, about 35 to 45 minutes north of here, and the Lost Dutchman mine is somewhere out there. It's not a bad short drive for a morning or afternoon outing.
Della Wright
We visited this gem the last day of our time in the Tonto National forest. There is so much history in such a small building. The ladies that work there are absolutely the greatest. Very helpful and knowledgeable of the area and history. The outer grounds and buildings were another fabulous find! So very glad we did not miss this!!
Ken Harrington
Didn't know this place existed until I passed by and stopped. It's not as cool as Goldfield across the street, but this place was still cool on its own. When I was there it was deserted. Not a single car there and I was the I was person around. They got some cool old cars, old mining cars and railroad tracks, covered wagon, a church, and a few other cool things. I liked it, if you have kids, I bet they'd love it.
Mike F
The staff is very friendly. The building is both a museum & gift shop. The museum was interesting with good information about The Lost Dutchman Gold Mine. The grounds were amazing. I suggest you walk them and enjoy the town/desert garden.
Cat M
Fun place to visit. Museum is interesting. My mom liked the barn with the movie posters. We used a culture pass which you can get at a local library (if you live in Maricopa County).
Jill Enns
The Muesum cost 7.00
They have attractions on the weekend. Free events
Nicole Kridler
I really enjoyed it here. While the it is small, it is packed with information and visual stimulation if you enjoy history. The museum itself is clean and well organized for the small space it is currently occupying and boasts loads in local history. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable and I am looking forward to returning with my kids. A must see if you are by the Superstition Mountains. There are a few walking trails that are great for beginners and still enjoyable for more experienced walkers as well. The scenery is stunningly beautiful and never gets old. In certain seasons, they also have gun fighters and mule/donkey rides for the kids as well.
Jaime
Learned a lot from the exhibits. Awesome views of the Superstition Mountains
stanley spears
Always a great time, chance to enjoy the beautiful Superstition Mountains while going back in time to see the history and old west!
IRMA PERRIS
Amazing place to take your family for a History adventure.
Debbie Sloth
Great mt to climb if short of time or have all day. Kids could attempt the trails, too. Not that strenuous. Great view on top of mt.
Rob Shannon
Free to visit. Museum costs $7. Lots to see, walk around.
Scott Cummings
Very interesting place. Lots to learn, fantastic scenery, things for the kids to do and learn. Easy walking/ hiking. Lots of international visitors here as well.
Went on a guided herbal walk today. Here are some photos. Note the delicate intact bones of a bird in a cactus. Greener than usual due to all the rain of late. Free tickets are available from the Apache Junction public library if you have a library card.
Come see it. Worth a couple hours.
Connie Novak
Very enjoyable! Lots of historical information on the area. Lots to see inside the museum and on the grounds. Check out the Chapel. And DEFINITELY check out the trains!
dawn daly
My mom and I went here today and it's awesome. They have a chapel that elvis presley filmed some movies in and they have a jail and a general store. Lots of really old, really cool stuff.
Mary Biancalana
Excellent place to learn a lot about the local history of the Superstition Mountains. The gift store was absolutely fantastic and was filled with high-quality books about Arizona and southwest history, folklore, Native Americans, and the Wild West. We especially liked the large selection of locally mined semi-precious gemstones. The staff and volunteers at this Museum we're all very friendly and helpful. Be sure to have a hat and water because it gets hot when you're walking around the grounds.
Keturah Taylor
I’ve been to AZ several times but never ventured up into the mountains until this trip. I was NOT disappointed. There were stores and snacks and even a gun fight. Great scenery and very enjoyable time exploring the old ghost town.
Jan Smith
One of the best and least expensive little museums with incredible exhibits indoors and outside! $5 adults. $4 seniors. Old barn, gallows, and chapel from Apacheland Movie Ranch, amazing outdoor train villages (only Nov-May Fri-Sun), a few trails, general store, good gift shop, ore grinding equipment displays including a huge stamper, burro rides, nice photo ops, picnic area. Stage coach with photo ops. No on site food, so take a picnic and allow plenty of time for the place, especially if you go on one of the days when they have one of their guest speakers/presenters, Heritage Days, or exhibitions.
Parker Long
Great location and special treat for any Elvis fans! Was very cool to find out the chapel was used in the movie Charro that starred Elvis Presley. The Superstition Mountains make an epic backdrop to all the antiques and rustic things around.
Leslie Darling
Had a great time touring the place. Different relics spread throughout the property. Look closely and you'll see bones, old heavy buckets, etc. Really interesting items of note: maps showing the location of the old ranches (would be awesome to see a current day overlay on that showing roads), how the Superstitions were formed including rock samples, the old church and buildings, the drag stone mill, my favorite thing was the giant photograph showing a cattle roundup shot from the same position on the property today. That was incredible! Stop by the general store for an ice cream or soda, get your squished penny from the machine, lots of places to stop and rest for us old folk. I'll have to return in cooler weather to see some of the stuff that was closed for the summer.
sharon walker
We had a good time, did most of the activities during the week day ate lunch which was good steak and chicken. Little one enjoyed the gold mining and the train ride
Bryant G
The museum is a very special place. This is the work of many local people who dedicated time energy and more to make this available for your visit.
The staff is encouraging to me. I visit the site often and stop to admire the little church each time. This is a very important place to my wife and I. We remember the love between us and the love of everyone that helped to make this a great experience for the visiting people.
Darryl Milczarek
Much more interesting than expected.
When we piled three grandchildren and 5 adults ages 6 to 74 into the vehicle and headed out to visit the museum, some were grumbling a bit, but as soon as we arrived, everyone perked up and started exploring. The biggest surprise was that everything except the actual museum was free. And the museum was inexpensive especially with 17 and under free.
We hiked around the trails and explored the old equipment, petted the animals, and took in the Elvis Church as well.
The highlight was the 20 Stamp Mill, where they did a live demonstration of how ore was processed from big rocks into fine powder. It was very loud and totally worth the whole trip. It runs each Saturday morning at 11:00. Don't miss it!
Stephen Carsten
Sweet old ladies run this place. Very cool area. Good lil tourist stop
Linda Leroux
We did our wedding at the chapel. We had an Elvis impersonator singing for us, we hired two of the Renegades to walk up for our ring ceremony. People had a blast.
Shayla McGrady
Fun little place. I love country westerns and watching the Grit channel. So everything was interesting to me.
Nancy Ackerson
A fun little place to visit lots of Kodak opportunities...
Jack Larson
Stopped by and went back because they were going to fire up the hammer mill. When we went back they had a bunch of things happening. The hammer mill was awesome and the horse operated drill was great. I was not expecting to find one of the best hot dogs and Tomales i have ever had. A must visit and donate too
Heidi Geldis
The museum itself might be small but it has a ton on information. They are well informed and have up to date information on the Lost Dutchman's gold. Love taking my family and out of town guests there. Plus they have festivals and are continously expanding.
Scott Napier
Really cool outdoor exhibits you are free to walk around. Nice gift shop with the indoor museum attached that is a very nice professional museum of the area. Appears that on weekends the model trains run and there is a petting zoo, and it looks like there is an area for food trucks across street.
k b
I wanted to hike this beautiful mountain but it was 103°. Instead, I explored Goldfield which was astonishingly a treat. At least I was able to marvel in the beauty of this majestic nature. Aside from the beauty, I've heard that crime & drugs is common in these mountains. I guess when I hike the trail, I'll buddy up.
Leroy Block
Awesome place and if you wanna learn more bout history thats the place to go..... Alot of interesting things there and very great people and atmosphere....
Rodger M
Great museum. Awesome area to take the family. Always has something going on. The people that run the gift shop are super nice and helpful too. If you ever get a chance to take a tour, do it.
Heidi Morgan
It was free to walk the grounds (movie history, model trains, mining buildings, trail with the Superstition Mountains looming over you). Only charge is for the small indoor museum which gives discounts to first responders and military folks. The gift shop was very nice too. We did not get to see the animals or gun fights. You need to go on Saturdays for that. I plan on returning.
Breanne Reith
Pretty cool little museum. Lots of interesting artifacts and displays. There's also a lot to see outside the museum such as the Apacheland barn, the Elvis wedding chapel, and the stamp mill. Pretty cool if you're into old Western movies or just history in general.
**You can get two free general admission tickets from any of the Phoenix Public libraries. Just ask to see the "Culture Passes" or look online for availability.
Barbara Jean McAtlin
Wonderful little museum packed full of cool local info. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great gift shop selection, too!
Natalie Volkoff
Excellent open area museum with free admission. Thank you for putting it all together. Nice photos. You have to drive half mile further for the trails
Brian Reynolds
So much to see in such a small area. From a mine to a train ride to several shops and eateries this place is a cant miss.
The separtarium however is the absolute highlight of the place. An amazing exhibit of spiders and snakes and a Gila monster. Managed by a couple that really knows their stuff and cares about the animals in their care. Miss this stop at your own peril.
Lucas Humbracht
Great place to stop. It was our first stop while in the area. Nice gift shop. Lots of cool stuff to see. The model trains were very well laid out. Unfortunately they were not doing demonstrations the day we were there. We will return to see the demonstration another time.
Brian Davies
Very nice museum, friendly staff and volunteers. Nice trains.
Tammy Holland
An awesome area museum, with a lot of Apache Junction history. So very happy they were able to preserve many icons of our little town, such as buildings from Apacheland, the Grand Hotel sign, the Mining Camp Restaurant sign....and many other interesting items from the area. They also have a great special event space. The views are simply stunning!
Beth Sczerzen
Museum had lots of history! Great place to stroll around. Was very interesting learning about the Apacheland Movie Ranch and all of the movies, series and commercials they made and the stars that were there!
Di
Friendly staff, amazing views and fascinating on-site history from old Hollywood and westerns, and Elvis movies, not just the Superstition Mountains and the Old West. Nice easy way to have some fun, ample parking and easy to find. A must do. While you're there, visit Goldfield.
PRISCILLA de Serna
Excellent roadside adventure. Kid and adult friendly. Even hosted dog watering stations for canine companions. Fun gift shop also.
Carriage Lane Inn
We really enjoyed this museum and visitor area. On weekends they have a great wild west shoot out show. The trains are amazing too.
Recommend for couples and families.
Kathy Hagan
Very interesting museum, fun outdoor exhibits, reasonably priced.
Catherine Meek
I walked around the grounds on a beautiful day, saw gunfights, the trains running, the stamp mill, the Apache village and gorgeous views. All it cost me was the gas to get there!
Carlos Cruz
A great way to spend a Winter or Spring afternoon. Learn Arizona history. Everyone is friendly and will answer any questions. The view of the Superstition Mountains are amazing.
Adam Gamble
Perfect for young children, and there are plenty of attractions for adults, including food and libations. Visited 2 weekends in a row and will definitely be back.
Drew Alpers
Arizonia you do a great job with your State Parks. If your camping make reservations in Loop A & B they seem to be blocked from Interstate 10's noise
Robert Irving
Nice place to visit. The volunteers are always friendly and knowledgeable
k Nelson
Interesting place. Neat buildings to walk through. Lots of history there. Museum is worth the $5 cost to walk through. Very educated volunteers provided lots of good information.
Conny Foster
Pretty awesome place!
Kevin Lee Tucker
Neat place with a lot of history. Many western movies made in this area, now I have to go back and watch them again to see the Mt.s in the background lol. Much of the mock town burned but the church is still there.
Lynnette Stotz
Fun, family friendly historical site with a lot to see including replicas of old buildings, plenty of hiking, a gift shop and free lectures by locals describing how life was like (check their website for details). On Valentine's Day Elvis was available at the church for weddings.
They even had the old rock crusher up and working. (I bought a commemorative bag of dirt pulled straight from the dust box and it was totally worth it to support this free exhibit!)
The gift shop also has an indoor museum. For a small fee you can see items owned by locals and learn all about the local history. All funds and donations go back into preserving the area.
Natasha Sills
It was a fun spot, spent about 20 minutes there. It's a small museum and gift shop with a few other small attractions around, $7 per adult.
Sandy Youngblood
Unique museum. May be able to buy discount tickets through Groupon.
Phaichit Sisoukrattana
Beautiful places n lot's off history
Adrienne Dressler
Fun place for the whole family
Denise Goldsmith
The price is right, if you are a history buff, you are in the right place. It was very nice, and the outside is just as marvelous as the inside.
Christina Cormier
Lots of fun facts during the lecture that day.
The views are amazing and the trains are models of the old time trains of years past.
Mary Nelson
I really enjoyed the museum. There was lots of interesting things to see
Jason Burlingame
Stopped here on the way to the ghost town, free little area to go through. There is a chapel there that Elvis was actually in that was pretty cool.
Felicia Pittman
I went to the trading post to buy souvenirs. I did not do the tour due to time constraints. But this is an unusual place and it's set off from the main roads a bit. But, the mountain itself is amazing. It had rained a bit and there was fog on the mountain. PRICELESS views!!
Aaron Blackburn
Super fun place to walk around and get a feel for the old west. I love to go there for western shoots with all the barns and open areas it's perfect for that. They have a indoor museum and places for picnic. Fun place.
Dan Burdick
Amazing, very hot but a great time... Would recommend it for everyone especially family's
Josh Lamm
An awesome historic place. If you're a fan of Westerns, this is a must see! Also, get all the information of the Lost Dutchman you'd ever need at their museum.
Karri Gradolph
Very interesting and cool place! Walking through museum was full of history. Nice stop on our way to Tortilla Flat.
W Querin
We have been here 3 times. Great place to hike and camp. Very affordable for families. My only complaint is the showers. They need better cleaning and supervision. Boondockers/squatters are sneaking in to us the facilities at night for free. They trash the bathrooms and help themselves to potable water.
Teresita H.
Beautiful! Follow the Acape trail up to see some amazing sights!!
Kayla Snyder
All attractions besides the museum are free but lots to see and do outside of the museum. Very kind volunteers
Jay
So very special, feeling one with earth , history, friendly , right on our street***!!!!!! Loved, loved we did !!!!!!!!!! , thank you for providing these fantastic opportunity for all our community ❤️🙏 …
Jim
I've driven by this place many times and never stopped. Today I decided to stop, and I'm glad I did! This is a wonderful little museum. Parts of it are completely free, but there is a nice section inside that costs $6 for seniors. It is well worth the price. There are a lot of Native American artifacts and history, in addition to Lost Dutchman history. The outside displays are also interesting. They cover topics such as western movies, train history (with an amazing miniature track), and mining history. Stop by for a couple of hours! Oh, and you can get something to eat as well.
Mary Henderson
Been to the museum many times, excellent! However, this time I went to the gift shop for unique Christmas gifts and was not disappointed!
Real Estate Professionals
They have great events here, the kids always enjoy hiking around, and the staff is friendly. My boys already want to know when we're going back!
Misty Mattinson Wheeler

Donna Price

Filled with lots of History ! demonstration of rock crushing amazing the volunteers are very knowledgeable. Fun 4 the whole family[[ free entertainment]]]
Michael Manfredi
Definitely worth the stop, sometimes a trip into the past is needed to see where we are going.
Conrad Law (Scanner)
Just outside Apache Junction heading in to the Superstition Mountains you'll find a quaint little stop that's worth looking at. You'll see an old town jail, barbershop and other displays. There's a grand old church that looks like its right out of a Quentin Terrentino Kill Bill type movie. Most of all, you'll enjoy picturesque surrounding scenery with the mountains in the background.
Darel Hund
Great place to step back into time I would give it five stars but I always believe there's always room for improvement 😉 …
Cynthia Moon
Lots to see and discover the history of the area
A Moss
A place you should really stop in and see the museum is wonderful the staff and volunteers are helpful and it's free to walk around the grounds and they welcome donations stop in and say hello
Dawn M Snell
Very cool lots to see
Fred Pineau
I enjoyed the streetscape and the movie history. Stunning view of Superstion mountain. Reenactors are both knowledgeable. and. entertaining.
Brad Stoops
I've driven by this place countless times without ever checking it out. Finally did a little digging and it sounded interesting. And then I finally paid a visit this past weekend and was pleasantly surprised. Don't expect High Street class; do expect old West charm, plenty of local history and lore, and the beautiful backdrop of the Superstition Mountains, not to mention a surprisingly good gift shop. Saturdays bring the added fun of gun fight shows with a friendly crew that welcomes photos during the show and posing with them after the show. For the price, this is well worth the visit.
Lynn McCarthy
Right on the road and great movieland props at no cost...stretch your legs and have some fun. The museum has history of the local for the past 1700 years and amazing artifacts from the last 400 yrs.
William McMahon
I went back here after 3 years and the place is expanded and there are a lot of interesting things to see. The staff there were very knowledgeable and friendly. They seem like they really enjoy what they are doing. There is no admission charge although they do ask for donations. There is plenty of free parking.
Rachel Avalos
Myself and my kids had a wonderful time. Lots to see and wonderful things to see.
Lisa Boyd
Nice event showcasing Mexican culture today. Not hard to social distance either. Thanks!
Don Kerr
Very educational and entertaining. Come early on Saturdays for the full experience.
janet cook
Great place to learn some history about the local area. Be sure to walk the trail out back beautiful views of Superstition Mountains. People running the museum are most helpful.
Vicky P
Actually had a great time here. The drive in from Scottsdale was beautiful and the old town was super interesting. Some great photo ops and the souvenir shop boasted some awesome finds.
Chris Thomas
It's a very special place. The museum gives you lots of info about the local plants, animals and history. The staff dressed up in period clothing and played fun characters. The grounds give you plenty to explore. Including model trains, mining equipment and the movie sets used in the golden age of Western film.
Suzzy
Nice trails along with a cute little gift shop and a museum with lots of information for a small fee.
harley d
Can get dusty, fairly large ground areas, dirt trails.

Very cool train setup..a must see and a lot more there
Kay Meyerett
Lots to see and do. Occasionally they start up the stamping mill. Elvis is in the church. Go see history of Apache Junction!
Kyme Idema-Fisher
This was definitely better than I expected! The museum was great, with docents to explain and elaborate on the exhibits. And they have so many interactive things, trails, trains, mining equipment, panning station, blacksmith, and best of all was the little western show! Will definitely go back the next time we are in Arizona!
jc myers
I highly recommend couples consider a wedding ceremony at the Chapel. Congratulations to Ed and Kathy, Rev. Joe Myers, Wedding Officiant

It was great! We really enjoyed our time there!
David Blair
Lotsa history here too besides the model trains
Grace Swanson
Very informative. Nicely done indoor (fee) room of computer and still-life exhibit stops about the Western lifestyle, Mining and Peoples that settled in region. Great Giftstore! We grabbed a bottle of cold Sarsaparilla and sat outside in the shade of a large wraparound porch. Nice free outdoor exhibits as well.
Cher Williamson
Loved loved this place! So did the children 🖤💜🇺🇲 …
Phoebe Brill
All the history, friendliness of the people. I had a wonderful time, should you get the opportunity stop in!!!
jbackes12
The views are awesome!
Carlos Navarrete
Had a good time at the museum, enjoyed the entertainment and the beautiful art displayed.
Emily Marshall
This place is great! Tons of history and several exhibits to look at. There is an indoor museum and gift shop where you buy your tickets. But a large portion of the museum is outdoor. There's a western movie barn and church, a huge model train set up, mining equipment and tons of space to walk and look at the dessert scenery.
Ray A
It was a great place to stop and good short hiking and learn history.
Patricia Person
Is a fun quirky place to visit ....of course the scenery is spectacular and the history is so interesting! 4 stars only due to everything was closed during the week and it was spring break and still tourist season...no animals out even the really cool expansive model trains weren't up and running... The grandkids and I still had fun exploring...
Maria Martin
Nice hike. It was cloudy and misting but still pretty scenery.
alexa hackett
Interesting Elvis chapel, great photo ops, and the only walking labyrinth I have ever seen in this area.
Kevin Fleege
Relatives in town and took them to learn the history of the Superstions!
John Garrod
Very interesting immersive museum with personal helpful staff
Barbara Deckard
We stopped at this beautiful park before entering Superstition Mountains which were breathtaking!

Great museum with lots of information on the local history on mining and Indians of the area. Had a great time there. I especially liked the information on the legend on the lost duchman mine.

Stop by and take pictures of this great site and spend some time away from the city.
Ray Chesnut
If you enjoy western history and lore then this is a must place to visit, with Superstition Mountains as a backdrop, this is a place full of historical events.
DIANNE MILLER
Free to walk around in the buildings outside. Trails to walk and see displays.
Nicole Hocking
Not everything was up & running. We only got to check out the outside exhibits. Will have to go back to check out the inside museum. By the time we finished outside it was almost closing plus they were having a wedding party was arriving. Cute little side attraction. Beautiful views.
Jason Costello
Fun lilplace. Awesome hiking in the area.

A must see when traveling through this area.
Tiana Savoy, LMT
We brought tickets on groupon and it was more than worth it with the museum, gift shop, and sights along the land. Great place for pics and great knowledge of the history of the area ... A must see if you visit AZ
Anita Straw
Beautiful sight! Flowers were even booming!!!
Snik
I woul have given this a 5 star if the demos were going.
lAL L
I gave this 5 stars because the outside of this place doesn't do it justice. The 5 stars are price for value or product/service. Be aware though that everyone is a volunteer and they collect tips so have cash on hand. The indoor museum goes briefly over the indigenous cultures of the area and the legends and mysteries of the Superstitious mountains but does so effectively. I found myself enthralled in every bit of history, folklore, and legend I could lap up. You must see the model train set-up. It was impressive. The gunfight show actors made it a point to mingle among the guest and take photos with them and the shows are free. Yes, it's cheesy but its free and my kids loved it. The actors made me laugh. For adults I would choose this location over Goldfields if you want the full historical picture. They have Military discounts, and student discounts for kids very affordable.
Tj RC83
Dawn Wells, an amazing volunteer for the museum, and now my Mother In-law, so graciously helped with accomodations to have our beautiful wedding service at the Elvis Memorial Chapel! Being a historical location, with the cultural film references, it was the perfect suggestion and most delightful experience.
Thank you so much for making our special day memorable! Special thanks to the other volunteers that opened the facility early for us too! Allowing us to bring our guests to share in our forever journey! And most thoughtful of all, a special momento of wine glasses, gifted to commemorate this occasion! Absolutely Wonderful!!
Joie Chitwood
This is a wonderful place! The staff are courteous and very knowledgeable. So much history of the Superstitions. Amazing!
Lori Gustafson
Dan a guide at the museum was so knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Thanks Dan
Misty Jones
Love being close to the Superstitions. It brings me peace and has so much beauty!
Jessica DeBorde
Loved seeing all the amazing historical items and the people knew their history!
Rikki Willis
Great place for both youth and adults!
Jason Keyes (JEKeyes)
Beautiful location and a bunch of historic information
Mike Tomlinson
I'm always suprised at the interesting places we are coming across everyday. This was one of those suprises. I loved it.
Amanda Richardson
Took my in-laws here. They enjoyed the museum, which I got cheaper on groupons, and worth it too. Got 4 txt and 4 drinks under 30$. Interesting information about AZ I didn't realize. Huge out door area with activities and characters. However they weren't out when I visited. The experience was much better before covid19, that's for sure.
Michael Lis
Check out the outdoor train set during the winter and you will not be disappointed! Perfect for all ages! Awesome!
Joanna Loron
Museum was interesting, volunteers were very friendly
Cj Hitchcock
Neat place to visit. Lots of information about the area history and Lost Dutchman legend. Museum seemed small from the outside, but once inside there were additional rooms in the back. Lots of outdoor displays and a small, beautiful chapel that is still be used today. Great for adults and children.
Michael Burnette (Perspective)
Geeat experience, beautiful scenery, Superstition Mountains is where the legendary Lost Dutchman's gold is, that no one has been able to find.
Valerie Hughes
We haven't been here since before the pandemic. We were amazed at all the work and upgrades they have done while it was closed. They even updated the museum! They are gearing up for lots of events for this fall and it is definitely the place to be if you like southwestern stuff.
Liz A
It was a great outing on a beautiful day. Informative and fun with the grandkids. Fabulous views and interesting exhibits. Used a Groupon deal on a discount day so it was a bargain for 4 adults it was under 15$
George Nico
Great place to visit, no charge to visit or for parking
Robert R. Chapin
Cool location, you should check out!
shant meeroian
Real historic treasure.. a must go place
Callean Bocock
This is a new and growing museum but you should definitely come here and throw money at them to support their work. They are trying to raise money so they can do a lot more interesting demonstrations. It's worth the long drive out here. The stamp machine demo was super cool, you will definitely want to see that if you can, it's a very unique opportunity. The museum itself is very small, about 30-60 min to see, tops, but it has a little on a lot of different areas. The gift shop is pretty cool, lots of interesting books. The volunteers have a lot of enthusiasm and can answer questions.
Roy Fellows
Nice place to visit. The rock crusher and many other items are very interesting. Only the museum has an entrance fee.
Patrick Park
Good place
James Monk
Very pleasantly surprised at this living museum run by volunteers. Wonderful historical, hands on look at 19th century mining and 20th century western movie making!
LaTashia Brown
This is a must see when visiting Apache Junction. You will learn more about the history of the Superstition Mountains.
Denice Cousineau
This is a wonderful place to visit AND volunteer! There is so much local and state history in books, exhibits in the museum, gift shops, and in programs. Most recently it was our pleasure to wrap gifts purchased from the Mata Ortiz artists of Mexico! Beautiful items!!
Derric Ellis
Cool for a couple hour walk around. The free parts are awesome. The little paid museum is OK but kinda pricey for what it is. A lot of history and famous actor filmed here in the 50s 60s. Worth a check out if your in the area and much better then the the goldfield ghost town across the street where everything cost money to do.
Andrew Ryan
Wow!!! My friend has lived here for over 10 years and never heard of this amazing little treasure. It is free to visit but filled with incredible history. Many priceless authentic old West artifacts along side detailed descriptions for context. I especially enjoyed speaking with the staff, extremely knowledgeable and happy to answer all questions.
Wayne Mingin
Very nice people running the place. Nice little museum, very well taken care of.
Gregory Miller
Great place to visit
History explained by volunteers
Wonderful exibits
James S
We took a drive to get out of the house. We wanted to see something unique. We ended up at the museum. We did not go into the museum just the gift shop. My wife spent a few dollars on key chains and a snack. If you have nothing else to do it is worth the drive to see a different part of Arizona. Be aware this is also the only road in and out of Tortilla Flats and the lake. Traffic can be heavy at certain times of day.
Taylor Seher
Lots of fun! My two year old loved it! Outside is free but the inside does have a museum that cost. It was worth it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. A staff member got the small train going just for my son! It was the best part for him. He even found train sounds on his phone so my son could hear them! It was a wonderful experience. Can't wait to go back!
Maikel Palacio

Incredible Views! Awesome walk...

I really enjoyed this museum. Keep in mind you can get a free pass if you visit your public library.
Anyhow, the museum has 2 parts- the paid part is their indoor exhibit, and then they have some historical artifacts on the outside. The indoor exhibit took me a little over an hour to see. It was small, but if you take your time reading each sign, it can take a bit longer. I saw exhibits on animals in the deserts, Indian artifacts, geology of the area, and then also displays on the history of the area as well as stories of people that tried to look for the lost treasures. It was interesting to read, albeit it was a bit text heavy and sometimes the font was a bit small and tiring on the eyes. The older man walking around the exhibits was very kind and knowledgeable and really strived to add that personal touch!- kudos to him.
The outdoors part was very fun as well. It took about an hour and half to walk around and carefully look at each exhibit. There was a chapel dedicated to Elvis, old mining and stamp mill displays, historic houses, and even a mini railroad. So much to see! It was still a bit hot though, so make sure to bring you water.
Antonio Thompson
A very cool place to visit loads of information and all very interesting and fantastic scenery
Chop
A perfect place to enjoy an afternoon out of the house!
KAMR R
A MUST SEE! Trails for everyone! You will Not be disappointed!
AZSmallReefer
Hiked to the top of the Flat iron this morning. 6 hours round trip. Awsome views!
Michael Connor
This was a fun pit stop while out driving the Apache Trail. The little museum was a good way to start our trip in the area, and the gift shop had a surprisingly good selection of books on Arizona and the area, plus all the usual souvenirs. Much better than the ticky tacky places in Old Town Scottsdale
Jean Sheaffer
I am looking forward to visiting again soon.
Thom Kwolek
Not a lot to see. But a relaxing time
Sallie Vaughn
What fun this place is! It's also mostly run by volunteers. The gift shop was well stocked and the stamp mill is one of a kind. Be sure to go by and watch a demo of the mill for the full effect. An outdoor train exhibit was also there, but I understand that may be seasonal due to the extreme heat. Many movies were filmed on-site or in buildings that are restored at this location. Definitely worth a stop.
Jason Champagne
This was a quaint museum, but filled with history and interesting facts about the area. The surrounding exhibits were fun for the kids. They especially liked the magic show. The gentleman who did the magic tricks was great with kids and definitely has been at it for a while. This lil stop is worth the time.
Katherine Cook
What a fun way to experience he history of the Superstition Mountain area. Everyone who works and volunteers on the grounds are knowledgeable and kind. My son loves to visit and pretend to be a cowboy for the day. The outdoor part of the museum is free to explore and the indoor is beyond reasonably priced. And the views are spectacular.
Miles Stone
Awesome Experience! Even met the man himself. Two Big Thumbs Up 👍👍 …
Annel Hanson
Very nice visit for us, the star of the show was definitely the Dutchman and his sweet donkeys. It gets hot so bring water, most of the attraction is outside. There is a general store and the gift shop where you can find cool things and also water bottles in case you didn't bring any. Everyone there was friendly and knowledgeable.
Anitta Short
This was so beautiful and interesting history. Shared with my daughter and grandson
Mama Bear
I loved it .....better then tombstone. Train is cute, old mine perfect for little kids, mystery house, seeing the animals. Spent 3 to 4 hours, wish they had the museum open during the week. Beautiful mountains in all of my pictures. Ice cream is really good, and fudge. I will go again!
Steven Intermill
Beautiful view of Superstition Mountain.
Elizabeth
Super nice and lots too see
Kandi Sheets
Wish we spent more time here. Plenty to see and enjoy! Really surprised when the gunfight started. There is a Monument of reflection about a family that lost there lives. Be respectful!
Ashley green
So much fun with the kids 😍❤️ …
vicki kelm
The museum has really informative displays. The skit was a little cheesy, but the actors seemed to be having fun. View is spectacular. My husband watches a lot of westerns, so the info regarding the film/tv productions was fun to learn. Price is right!! 😊 …
Michael Harner
The museum with its indoor and outdoor exhibits is a pleasant surprise and definitely worth your time if you're going on the Apache Trail or to the nearby Lost Dutchman State Park. Everything is well-maintained, and the staff are without exception friendly and helpful. Check it out!
Mark Sterkowicz
Anyone and everyone that Ventures out Route 88 in to the Tonto National Forest Area Superstition Mountain area Goldfield Mountain area any tourist unfamiliar, needs to stop at the wonderful Museum most wonderful history lesson kindest people just a marvelous place ever changing and adding and preserving the past data present can enjoy we are so fortunate thank you to all the dedicated help at the Museum
Big Man Tiny Kingdom
This is a treasure for Mesa. There’s is lot of astounding history to discover. I enjoyed the inside museum that tells the backgrounds stories of the wildlife, the mines, the gold hunters, the cowboys, and the soldiers - including my favorites The Buffalo Soldiers. And then the walk around the complex after brings to life everything I learned inside. Great experience for all.
Rico “UNCLE_BUCKS” 53538
The outdoor museum is very informative on mining, an actual massive working ore crusher. A fair size complete miniature train layout, that you can walk around. A lot of other small buildings to check out. It's all free but they do accept donations. There is a fee to go to the small inside museum. Definitely recommend checking it out.
chloe-symone barnett
I loved this place, looking at how old mines worked, befriending donkey friends, no fee required to look at the outside premise, but for all it is maintaining outside, please think about donating or paying the fee to go inside at look at the museum. Its a cool little place and watch out for rattle snakes!
Katya Maiser
I loved this stop on a road trip through the area, this particular stop has plenty of "old west" town movie buildings and sets to view and explore, a short walking tour, and a museum that takes about 20 minutes to walk through. All was well done, educational, and just enough to satisfy a curious person about the history of the area. I'd highly recommend a stop here.
Gina Gould
Tarot cards lots of crystal s
Rocks... necklaces . Fun place

This place is amazing, must see
AZ Weaver
If you like being outdoors, if you like hiking then this place should be on your list.
Justin Paskett
Extremely cool. The most hammered and shredded looking mountain range I have been to. Tons of history and it looks like the setting of a great Western. Also the legend of the Lost Dutchman Mine is centered right around this area, hand it's hard not to get pulled into the lore
Steve Doyle
Pretty fun place to kill some time while on the road. The Elvis themed church was awesome as one could really get a nice gag out of it.
It's really fast to explore the entire place but you can get some pretty great photographic shots.
Do stay hydrated if you would like to hike the mountain for a bit as they do not have water fountains and will charge you more than usual for some bottled water.
Ken Marcus
Friendly staff, good place for tourist memorabilia.
Rachel Petersen
Fun place to stop by. Cute gift shop. Love looking at the model train set showing the progression of the railroad coming in. The buildings are also fun to look at. You might be lucky enough to try and search for gold. The even have cowboy church on Sundays.
Michael Gambill
Not a great deal of things to see when we went. Some of the stories were great and the people were very friendly. I gave an extra star because we were let on for free because they were honoring vet's and their families for their service. We were told there is much more at other times of the year, but we did not have that experience. Worth a visit if you are in the area though. Wouldn't go out of my way though.
Chris Moore
I only visited the Elvis Chapel today due to doctor appointments. The host was very friendly and gave us a little of the history. I do plan to go back soon. I know it will be an enjoyable day when I do. This Chapel is Beautiful. Take the family, you can't go wrong on this outing.
Heidi O'Dell
Very friendly staff, went for a free plant walking tour. It was interesting. Toured also Elvis Presley chapel from Charro movie, they sometimes have church services there, and gunfights for entertainment, all donations.
Enterprising Captian
Very fun visit! Great history of local area. The model trains were fantastic!

Scott Tracy
Cute little out of the way place. Rustic and homey with a very attentive staff
Craig Tee
(my apologies.... my State Park review showed up under the museum)
(Here' s the CORRECT info on the museum)
This is a FUN place to visit and the price is right. Sometimes it's just no fun going to museums when it breaks the bank.... this one is reasonable.
But, more than that, this is a fun place to visit! Tons of local history here.... both ancient and recent. We've been twice and will likely visit again sometime down the road.
I WOULD suggest that, if at all possible, you visit as a group and arrange to tour with a docent. We lucked out this last time and drew Jim as our docent for the first part of the tour. What a great time. Remember, if possible, prearrange your group visit and request a docent tour. You will learn LOTS of fascinating information. :)
Thanks to the museum, Jim, and staff!
Karboom50/50
Great view of the superstitions well-marked trails
Robert.
It was ine of those things you need to see
Valerie Golembiewski
Attended the dedication on 11/19 with our son and grandson. Went mainly for Thomas the Train, which is our grandson Logan's all time favorite. Looked at the site and was very surprised and pleased to see Logan and his Dad pictured in 4 photos with the Thomas exhibit! Thank you so much! These are definitely going in his baby book!
Mert Pekrul
Worth the visit, & be sure to go through the Museum.
Brian Lamb
A neat place to visit that is close to Phoenix.
Chris Salinas
Very cool little museum. The whole place is volunteer run. Admission to the indoor museum is $5, but all of the exterior exhibits are free. We came on a day when they demonstrated the stamp mill. The ground shook when this big beast of a machine began turning big rocks into little rocks. Hard to imagine this machine is over 100 years old but still runs like new thanks to the efforts of the volunteers at this museum. The museum inside has lots of interesting displays highlight life in the area and legends concerning the Superstition Mountains.
tammy western
Such a wealth of history here!! I loved it SO much! So well laid out, and informative 👌 👏 😁 …
Lil Silver
I enjoyed learning more about Arizona from this Museum. The people are friendly and nice. There's quite a bit of history in such a small place which was a pleasant surprise for me. This is a must see for AZ history lovers.
Morgan Davis
Very good historical exhibits and super friendly staff comprised of older folks! Not a huge museum but they also dont charge much to get in. Gift shop would be perfect for any out of state visitor.
Rick Fowler
We got there right at closing but he kept it open for us and was so informative and fun. Highly recommend!
Renard Gittens
This park is gorgeous, easily accessible and provides plenty of outdoor options to suit just about any picky person. Wanna hike/run/bike some trails? Yep, LDSP has plenty of those with varying degrees of length and difficulty. Wanna gather some family or friends for a nice picnic- OK yes this park has tons of picnic tables and even larger verandas than can be reserved online. Are you looking for a place to dry park your RV- there are over 100 spaces for you. The park even just opened some cabins last summer (Aug 2018) that allow visitors to "camp" with a few more amenities.
Manuela Manke
Loved this place. Very breathtaking, couldn't get enough of it. Could take in the views all day.
Alexander Monson
If you are in Scottsdale and are looking for a nearby place to visit, this place is worthy of consideration. There is a nice gift shop you can get into for free. Insider there is a nice museum that you can visit for a fee (I believe $5 per adult). The folks there were very friendly and knowledgeable of the local area. There is some phony stuff to take pictures at (fake jail, stagecoach, Boot Hill Cemetery, etc.). There is also a church that was in the Elvis Presley film Charro. This is not the original church. The town where the church was burned down year ago. They say the church was moved here, but may have been rebuilt. There is a large figure of Elvis on the altar where you can take pics. An interesting place to check out, but if pressed for time, you won't miss much.
S J Isom
The LDM hosts free lectures on Thursday afternoons during the main season. The ones we have attended have been very well done.
GerikNDaelle Glidden
Excellent and fun learning experience for all ages. Will come back for winter activities from Nov - Apr.
Dennis P Thomas
The people who volunteer or work here love their job. A few things were not operational at the time of our visit but it was interesting. I don't think they promote the Lost Dutchman Mine as much as they could. It was Free to the public. My wife and I had a good visit.
Darryl A. Davis
Great museums and mountain backdrop. Our icecream was great. There is a train, zip line, mine tour, Elvis chapel.
heidi corey
If the beauty could speak words it would tell you to hang out.... A must stop n see. The feelings you can get from this place will transport you back to years ago.. Come enjoy some amazing sights and take in the beauty...
Donna Adams
Wow how fun. Even on a cold day the place was packed. Free interesting and historical displays. They really have done a very nice job. On the weekends there are interactive things for kids to do.
Jennifer Frey
Came for a wedding ... what a Fantastic place to visit.
Duane Shelato
Coming from "back east" I was concerned about ordering pizza. It was great!
Nice people, and their system of ordering was quick.
Ethelynn Hougen
I love being a Volunteer at the Superstition Mountain Musum... in the Gift Shop and General Store. The Museum is an awesome work in progress developing new exhibits and adventures each season. I even visit when I'm not volunteering. It's a wonderful place to be.
Hats off to Jeff (Event Planner/Volunteer Coordinator)and Dave (Gift Shop Manager).
AZboyinWI
Great museum! Usually all staffed by volunteers. Winter/spring speaker program is excellent. ApacheLand is missed, but this is a very nice replacement with knowledgable, dedicated people
Lori Simonis
This museum is small but has a ton of fabulous exhibits about Apache Junction, the native American peoples in the area, and a lot of info about the lost Dutchman's buried treasure. It was definitely worth the trip. Also if you're over 55 you get a dollar discount making the entrance fee only $3. Can't beat it for the price!
Munetaka Araki
It is nice museum to visit. If you like old western movies with lots of cowboys, you should visit this place. The white church on the ground was used by Elvis for his western movie. You can also see many old mining equipments. There is nice gift shop where you can purchase local gifts.
Linda Wagener
Couldn't get into the campground, so we stayed in the overflow area that was a large parking lot... we could only stay there 2 days because it was reserved too. Love the Superstion Mountains... but $20.00 for dry camping in parking lot??? Not sure I'd do it again.
Daniela Emerick
An interesting historical place to stop in! A neat model train set not to be missed, and much to discover!
Misha Chandler
Went here with my son's 2nd grade field trip, and we had a ton of fun. Saw a fake elvis I'm the Chapel, got to listen to a native woman playing a wind instrument that sounded Beautiful, and the kids even got to grind corn on the rocks and pan for gold. It was very educational And very fun.
FD Finley
I love this place to learn more about Our American past .was a great experience !
Deborah Kinnard
Rustic piece of history that my adult daughter and I found to be packed with local mining (and movie making) history.
The little railroad was not operating due to non-peak season maintenance. There is also a several picnic tables and shaded areas to rest
Andy B
Great fun! Great place!
Greater People!
Oh, and incidentally these people ate mostly Volunteers! Try to say thank you if possible.

Charyle Calvert
Attended Heritage Days @ the museum where we watched beautiful hoop dancing. We also watched a demonstration of the stamp mill. Lots of artisans with beautiful artwork for sale. If you get the chance, don't miss this great little treasure in the desert.
Jodi Reutzel
Beautiful place to visit and explore. I like how they show the trees and flora and give you the names of everything. Definitely a must see
Cameron Owens
A good place to visit if you enjoy the Cowboy movies of the past. A great tourist spot to go to for an hour or two with the family. Also a really nice gift shop.
Joseph Gordon
Extremely well maintained and put together but overall museum. I didnt dislike the museum, but it was nothing special either. Worth a quick visit if you have the time and it's on your way.
omar casill
Fun place to learn about Superstition Mountain and its history bring comfortable walking shoes and plenty of water there are a lot of trails behind the museum so be sure to not get lost it can get awfully confusing and you can lose your direction really quick. Don't forget to go down the street and visit Goldfield Ghost Town that's what we're the real adventure begins
Just Being Me
Volunteers are awesome! Friendly and knowledgeable. Looking for free stuff to do, check out their lectures, you’ll learn a lot about AJ (and realize there is more to see and do in the area).
Scotty Lees
Friendly, knowledgeable, and fun. This is a must stop for any visitors, and a regular visit for locals looking to relax and enjoy some history.
The train display is amazing. Be sure to check it out.
Amazing views of the mountain on the back lot!
Richard Mcdowell
beautiful scenery and very relaxing.
Accurate Contracting
I have stopped in here several times for a quick bite and for just some old west entertainment. It is definatly within the old west character and if you haven't been worth a visit for sure. They seem to be adding new attractions as well.
Paul H
Great little museum! There are some attractions and a gift shop you can browse, and there's also a museum part you have to pay a small fee to visit but it's worth it. If you're strapped for cash, there are still things worth seeing outside that you don't have to pay for.
Glen's custom knive's fordging
It is well worth seeing
Roland Beaucage
It's a quaint little museum and historic site. There isn't much going on on week days however so if you're bringing the kids to see some of the attractions like the miniature train or the mule ride, you will find them closed on week days (or at least we did on a Wednesday).
Dale Diemer
Smaller scale attraction at Tortilla Flat. Great food and fun at the local saloon! Lots of panoramic views on the drive up and down...road is really rough in some places while repaving is being done. Canyon Lake is beautiful.
Jeremiah Booth
Free little museum and chapel. Not as much as goldfield further up the road
Teresa E Crum
Really enjoyed reading about the Superstition Mountains
Jim Rich
Everything you expect of the Southwest. Well maintained with a fascinating story to tell. After all, you are within walking distance of the Lost Dutchman if you just knew where to walk. So, just stare in awe at Superstition Mountain and soak up the lore. Getting there is easy, going on to Canyon Lake is challenging.
janice g
Amazing Prickly Pear Margaritas 🌵🤤 …
Robin Olson
Had a very nice time. Very informative, friendly people, not crowded. We will be back.
nancy szura
The view of Superstition Mountain from here is amazing. The church was in the Elvis movie Charro. My friend got married there. The museum itself is very interesting. Lots of cool old stuff to see there. We always take visitors there.
Anne LeSenne
Fun stop. I've got to come back with the kids. The train set is great. So many fun things to look at and learn about.
Paula Aguilar
Looked so cool even just walking the outside viewings. Didn't get to go inside the museum part though
Karen RossGlaser
Had changed in the last couple of years. Expanded, added cabins and paths. Always loved the time spent there. This time staff/rangers were rude and threatening. Left before time!

My husband has been enthralled with all the wonderful tales of the mountains since his college days a long time ago. The museum does not disappoint!
Brenda Pavlik
So much to see and learn , the volunteers are well informed and if you listen carefully you might learn something new about Arizona . Catch the show , visit the museum, take a walk on the path or get a bite to eat.
Mary Bailey
Fun place, kids can be outside and run around, feed the donkey, lots to see inside and out.

Great southwestern / Arizona spot. Take your friends from out of town here. The staff are all friendly and everything is clean. It will take you back in time. There is a great gift shope with Arizona and southwestern stuff. I his a bag of polished rocks.
Patrick Zerarka
Ok to hike, but compared to other places like one of the Maricopa National Parks for example Cave Creek. Not much to look for other than the beautiful Mountain which you are better off admiring at the button before even start hiking. So, the excitement is really all about the far away look of the mountain not the hike.
Estee Pelton
This place is a must see !! Very friendly staff.
Mary Schilling
Nice selection of books and souvenir items featuring the locale. Due to possible rain the feature artist presentation was cancelled. Got to see the beautiful artistry from Mexico.
Tammy Cooley
Neat little place to stop off at when you have visiting family. Not too many places are free anymore, which is another reason to stop in. People are friendly there and it's a nice stop along your way to canyon lake or tortilla flats.
James Taylor
I have taken my family here a number of times and we always have a blast. Between learning about the area's history, getting to see some of the old mining equipment, or just talking to the friendly and knowledgeable staff, we have never had a bad experience.
Karen Strader
Wonderful help. Lived the store and the museum. The outside was very entertaining!

The rock collection outside is amazing. Also, the stamp machine will be running on February 3rd..check it out. Late 1800's too cool to miss

Cool place to visit if you are passing through Arizona, or even if you are a local and have never been! Interesting facts about the Superstition Mountain area and the mining the occurred throughout
Karen Foley
Great place to visit on a scheduled weekend. Events always attract tourists, as well as the locals. It's easy to get to and the whole family will enjoy the various activities, vendors, and food oftfered.
David Richins
There's not *much* to this place and it's a bit non sequiter (a replica movie church and Elvis shrine, a barn with... barn things... a model railroad, a functional stamp mill), but what's there is solid and has a nice atmosphere.
William Tell
Very nice setting near the Superstition Mountains, with a great little museum there. Learn about Jacob Waltz and The Lost Dutchman Mine. A perfect area to visit for kids and adults, and see Elvis's chapel.
George Szymanski

It was nice to learn a little about the gold mining days and see what it might have been like. It was pretty small though overall. But nonetheless definitely worth going to see at least once

Carole Bailey
I worked in the Chapel as a volunteer. I loved telling everyone about the movies, actors and things that happened years ago in that area.I loved talking to people all over the world that visited there.

It's a decent little museum. 7 dollars entry should be like 5 though.
Crista De Silva
This is such a hidden gem. So much history and you are taken back in time! Make sure to walk through the museum (read all the interesting facts about this towns inception) and the elvis chapel.
Dan Varcoe
We really enjoyed the outdoor talks about the history of Apache Junction and Apache Land. The gift shop has a wide assortment of memorabilia, too. A "must do" for visitors.
Sandra Maxwell
I enjoy being at this museum. The people are friendly and helpful. So many interesting exhibits. The stamp mill is operational and demonstrations are given on certain days. This summer they also showed some of the old westerns in the Chapel and it will become a yearly occurance. At different times of the day you can hear the docents tell you some interesting stories about the history of the area and you might be lucky enough to even hear some music from native flutes. Watch for the pass books for the kids. Who is Hacksaw Tom? What is an arista? "Wow! model trains!" mmmmmmmm sasparilla!! Did you see that tree trunk on the patio? How many animals are carved into it? Birds, lizzards.....native people and so much more can you find.
AND SO MUCH MORE
I had and still find more I have seen before!
Jim Langner
Very interesting place to visit and learn about the movies that were filmed in the area and the stars that frequented the place. Good overview of the mining in the area and the lore surrounding the Lost Dutchman's mine.

They redid a lot of things during the quarantine and it's better than ever. Very informative and everyone is always friendly!

If you are going this way it's a fun stop. There is a working blacksmith on the weekend who is happy to share his knowledge. There is still memorabilia from the days it was used to make movies.
Jordon Smith
Kids enjoyed the stage coach and trains. Adults enjoyed the barn and chapel. Make sure you make it into the chapel to see the king.
Paris Paris

Paula Calapez

Virginia Knox
It was just plain refreshing, we were able to get the wheelchair around to see the displays, went on an education train ride, and sat and listened to live music in a beautiful environment.
John Goerger
Excellent historical good exceeds for walking..Barn, Church and "Hanging Gallows" were saved from a second fire which destroyed APACELAND which was operation in 1957. Was a film studio..1st fire, I think was around 1994 with the second fire,in 2004..total loss except the barn, church and "hanging gallows".
Board by board were taken apart of the church and rebuilt/donated to the Superstition Museum.
To walk around the grounds of the Superstition Museum is free, including going through the barn (on weekends behind the barn they have an excellent multi-western trains HO-scale & Lionel train scale.
Also at certain times on the weekend they will run an actual Stamp Mill which was used to crush rock to get to the valuable ore such as; sliver, gold, copper..
The only thing they charge for is to go through the museum which is inside their gift store. .price is around $5-$6 & extremely worth it!!
As a member one can go through the museum as many times as u want.
One of the items on display in the museum is a N-Scale of Apaceland!!
Where Apaceland use to be is the site of homes called GOLD CANYON
Ken Wyatt
Nice place to see a large scale model railroad and some really cool old mining equipment.
Dmitri Witharana (Schfour)
Fun museum and nice walking trail
K Crema
Fun place, great variety, close to town. Nature, mining, western, retail shop w good book selection, special events, friendly staff and kid friendly. Bring sun stuff.
ThomThom
Less a mine museum than a collection of movie sets, but with a bit of decent history explained, though not represented by very many artifacts. If you're an Elvis fan, the grounds do include the chapel used in his nonmusical western movie, Charro!. However, of the many similar closeby locales addressing monies western and the lost mine, this is the one to visit.
roberta benson
Very fun place to visit, lots of old Western style buildings to see. Lot of different ways to see the desert Train rides and horseback riding available.
