Reviews of The Frick Pittsburgh
Tricia Cunningham
Amazing self tour of the ground and professional tour of The Clayton Mansion. Exquisite design and history are abundant throughout the glorious home. The museum is full of masterful displays, and the cafe is warm and inviting with a palatable menu of variety and thoughtfulness. My favorite was the botanical gardens in the greenhouse. It is a wonderful place for a first date, romantic getaway, the history buff, and is a lovely place to enjoy a good book while enjoying the grounds. I would not suggest bringing small children to the Clayton house for you're up close and personal with all artifacts, and small children tend to be hands-on. 5 stars Plus!

Wow, what can I say about this place. We were just driving through Pittsburgh and wanted to see what was there to see. We drove past the frick and decided to take a look. What an experience! This free attraction was better than many paid museums I've been to. The tapestries were beautiful, the sculptures and exhibit on the temporary BLM exhibit were fascinating. The cars on display were amazing. A very worthwhile museum to visit. The staff were very helpful and even the store was tastefully done and not overstated. If you have not been here yet, make time to come.
Savannah Perry
Nice museum to visit when in Pittsburgh. We checked out the green house, gift shop and car museum and just walked the grounds. You can also get a tour of the Frick house or grab some dinner which we opted out of this trip. (Everything was free other than the house tour and of course dining). Very interesting and knowledgeable friendly staff in the car museum. Worth the stop!
Sarah Kostelac
I've been going there since I was little and have always loved it. The house is stunning, the car museum has a great collection spanning decades, and the art museum is great too. Their permanent art collection isn't very large but they have some beautiful pieces. Though the best part is they have some amazing temporary shows, with a huge variety in mediums, styles, eras, artists, etc. I've never eaten in the cafe so I can't vouch for that but everything else is fantastic. I've also taken Pre-K students on a field trip to the car museum and they really liked it
Dave Harlan
I liked it, and liked the temporary exhibit on fashion much more than I expected. It was a smaller museum than I thought and is a quick stop.
The permanent collection on display was very small, though since that is free one can’t be too critical.
I would like to have spent more time strolling around the grounds and nearby park, but had places to go.
Jen Gallingane
Frick has done it again with really fun and interesting exhibits. We enjoyed ourselves so much checking out the sweet ceramic centerpiece art, antique sporting fashion, and dramatic hood ornaments. Perfect summer weather for a little walk around the grounds, too. They have great outside seating if you want to bring food or Doordash since the cafe is being renovated. Get there asap if you like a little culture on the side in beautiful Point Breeze.

During June 2021 there are just a few galleries open-- you can easily view this art museum in an hour to an hour and a half-- but don't forget there is also a car and carriage museum, a small greenhouse and a lovely garden area to explore. It is free, but you need to reserve a time slot which you can do online. We went on a Tuesday and were nearly the only two people there! Don't miss this lovely place! The visitors center is now open (June 1, 2021) - it houses the restrooms, soft drinks and snacks, gift shop and water bottle refill station. There are benches and tables outdoors, where you can eat your snacks. Plan to spend 2-3 hours on the Frick grounds. The family home (Clayton house?) is undergoing repairs and is not currently open for tours. So there is an art museum, car museum and small greenhouse to visit here.

This place is so cool! Really old painting and tapestries with beautiful grounds. Really nice and informative staff as well.
Renata Rozovsky
The excellent small art museum. Amazing old cars in Carriage museum. Nice park. Everything is free. The Clayton historical house is temporary closed.
i dunno “Hippie” but yay
Fairly small, but scenic grounds
Even though the museum is a bit small, the collection is very beautiful and seeing the vintage cars is interesting. At the visitors center and throughout the grounds, keep an eye out for Luke, a friendly local cat who visits every now and then who appreciates pets!
Kathy Duncan
Beautiful little museum, gardens, and greenhouse. Free entry to galleries, gardens, and auto museum. Thursday through Sunday there are tours of the gilded age house and there is a charge for those and you need to reserve in advance. Various parts are undergoing renovation so the parking lot was closed when I was there ( plenty of free street parking) as were some galleries but there were several special exhibits. The auto museum is about to close for building repairs. So it's hit and miss for the next year what's open but you can't complain because it's free. The gardens are always changing so there is always something new to see.
Conner Griffin
From the beautiful grounds, to the amazing art, to the educational experiences, and all the grandeur and splendor; the Frick is a stunning plethora of museums, galleries, and vintage collections.
Plus, I will not dare to forget to mention the quant and delicious cafe set in a adorable cottage. I had afternoon tea and a fromage board; both were amazing!
I recommend anyone come here for a great experience and such little cost.
Carolyn Cary
Ventured out late on a fall Sunday so didn't have time to visit the museum. There happened to be an open house at the Clayton, though, which was a nice surprise. All the docents were welcoming and informative. Lovely grounds and greenhouse with a nice variety of plants. (Don't miss the aptly named goldfish plant.) Also a number of benches and chairs throughout the grounds which (IMHO) encourage visitors to turn away from devices for a bit and just enjoy the surrounding nature. From what I learned, this is very much in keeping with Helen Clay Frick's mission and wishes. Will return.
Cheryl Rumbaugh
My children took me to the cafe for tea and scones with clotted cream for my Birthday celebration day. It was our first stop and it was an absolutely wonderful start to the day! Delicious scones, as was the tea. Beautiful morning, seated outside, gorgeous surroundings. Looking forward to returning when I'm in Pittsburgh again.
B. Morgan
Very much enjoyed the Frida Kahlo exhibit and the rest of the museum. Also the Car and Carriage museum was very enjoyable with the hood ornament exhibit. Not crowded on a weekday and easy to socially distance!
Brian R. Peterson (HIH The Pale Emperor)
The Frick Mansion is absolutely beautiful inside and out, the tour takes you through the entire house, except the forth floor, there are no ropes or barriers and 90% of everything in the house is original to when The Fricks built and lived in it.
Natalie Burkes
Beautiful setting, originally a private estate, now open to the public. The art museum is free, other than any special exhibition. The grounds, conservatory and carriage museum are also free and are well kept. There is a small charge to tour the Frick Mansion. Well worth the price, especially if you tour the rest of the property. There is a cafe and a gift shop on site. Parking is also free and they are open year round.
Walt Ellison
You'll get a good taste of the early 1900s as you tour the grounds of the steel baron's home. There's a fascinating cars and carriages, ask how the headlights work. There's an art museum with items collected by Helen Clay Frick. And then there's the Clayton, the Frick home. Parking and admission are free.
Y. Milo Burton
The Frick Estate is definitely worth a full day visit. With the museum, the carriage house, the gardens and the Frick House to tour and see the wonderful paintings and the beautiful carriages that the family has collected you can get the full experience of the history of this family and an era in time called the Gilded Age where the econonmy, government, technology and the social customs of America were going through modern transformations. After touring the estate you can end your tour with a wonderful meal at The Cafe at the Frick where you can enjoy delicous food, prepared from scratch, for lunch during the week, a lovely dinner on Friday evenings, or take part in an Afternoon Tea on the weekends. It really is a well rounded experience for people of all ages.
Jessica Hettrick
Had a wonderful day at The Frick! The museums are free of charge except for the tour of Clayton House, which was $12/person when we went. I highly recommend the art museum; I was charmed and entranced by many of the pieces displayed there. The house tour was well-curated by the docent, and shows off this last of the mansions on Pittsburgh's Millionaires' Row that's still intact, but be prepared to take all your photographs outside and leave larger bags in your car or in the lockers they provide in the visitors' center, as photography is not allowed in the house. Also be sure to eat at The Cafe at The Frick; I had their Bird Burger (blend of ground chicken, turkey, and duck) and found it to be sublime. They also have a nice selection of cocktails and wines; I enjoyed a Pomegranate Fizz champagne cocktail.
Krystal McNaughton
Fantastic little museum... there is alot to look at this place is a great place to spend an afternoon. There is even a resturant.
You really should check this place out... did I mention the museum and the garden and everything is free... you can park at the park and walka round the park and wonder through the museum and the garden and green house make sure to check out all the old cars they are beautiful.
I am not sure how popular this place is with the locals because it wasnt crowded at all it was nice and spacious and you had lots of time to enjoy everything. And there is a little gift shop of you feel compelled to spend some money on something lol
Joshua Weber
Despite some if the rooms and one if the building being closed, the Frick was great. A realitjvky small museum with some great renaissance and middle ages artwork.
Darlene Murray
Nice museum and grounds. Worth a visit only if you have the time. There are many Pittsburgh sights to see, after all.
Mary Anne Meade
We visited for the first time ever to see the Isabelle de Borchgrave xzibit and it was fantastic. The museum staff was friendly and helpful it is clean and it was well worth our time to visit this exhibit. We will return again very soon. Parking can be a little iffy when it's very crowded. I would highly recommend and this is obviously a treasure in Pittsburgh that has been untapped by me and my family but that all changed yesterday.

Gorgeous! Absolutely gorgeous. Step back into time while touring the breathtaking Frick home and exquisite grounds. Our docent Deb was amazing! Truly made our tour informative and fun! A visit to The Frick Pittsburgh is free. This includes the grounds, art museum, carriage house, and greenhouse. If you would like to tour the Clayton it costs $10.00. It was well worth the fee. The Frick Pittsburgh Visitors Center is where your guided tour of the Clayton begins. It also has a lovely gift shop in it, along with lockers, places to sit and relax, and gender neutral restrooms. Make sure to stop and get something to eat and drink at the Cafe. It will not disappoint!
Holly Healy
Offers some world class exhibits in a small museum setting. While the grounds are lovely for a lazy break people watching strollers on the green. The grounds as well as the car museum (not main museum) are free to roam. The car museum even has a vintage car you can crawl in and the volunteers that work inside it are eager to share their knowledge. My 80 something father loved the car museum part. Gets 4 instead of 5 stars from me because special exhibit cost are steep in comparison to special exhibitions in major cities with more extensive displays and the small greenhouse, while free leaves much to be desired.
M. Victoria Kline
Beautiful campus with free museums. Very clean restroom facilities and a nice gift shop.
The car & carriage museum was very cute and informative. If you go you can take a photo in an old Ford. The docent in there was kind and helpful without being pushy.
I wish I could say more on the Art museum since that's actually what brought us to the Frick. When we were there almost the entire Art museum was closed off except one short, looping video and their $15 special exhibit (a wonderfully curated Romare Bearden exhibition) so it wasn't really free for us if we wanted to see anything while there. Neither of the two people at the front door bothered telling us while taking our ticket money.
The single docent in the rotunda (directly behind where you enter, the rest of the museum branches off from it) watched us wander up to all the closed off doors and said nothing until I finally asked if we were supposed to open the doors because only half actually had "Closed" signs. It was very awkward, especially when they said something about the museum not putting all their signs up. What??
Shannon McAleavey
Beautiful place, stunning pieces and nice variety. I was disappointed to some extent because art museum was really small and I didn't expect that. But it's great for a short trip and it got a beautiful selection of flowers and park next to it is nice.
Amber Larson
I feel like I missed something while I was here. I came on free reciprocal membership day where they partner with local museums and offer free membership for a designated day. The art museum was very lack luster. Not too much history was shared on the pieces and what I primarily saw was jewelery and vases. I wasn't too impressed with their limited supply. Congrats, you bought Tiffany jewelery. If it were on the free day, I would have been very dissapointed on the cost of admission vs delivery. I also feel like I was not fully informed on what they had to offer where. I was not aware of the carriage house or greenhouse (not sure if that was open in the middle of winter though. When I visited there over the summer there definitely was a prudish atmosphere. Don't wear jeans and a t-shirt if going. Their food did smell good but the prices seemed a bit high for what everybody else was getting. It is nice that they offer free admission on certain days/times and concerts for people to enjoy during their stay. I would not pay admission to come back but the park next door is nice and if I happened to be there visiting and I notice it's during free admission hours, I'd take a brief stop by here and see what their next exhibits are.
Aram Fingal
We always enjoy the Frick! They have rotating exhibits every 6 months or so. We really enjoyed the paper dress exhibit.
Anita Nwaobilo
Went to see art exhibit, SLAY, paintings by artists depicting Judith. Liked the exhibit, though quite graphic. Was not familiar with that particular story. The female artist had a very interesting background. The male artist is the one who did the Obama portrait, his canvas was huge, reminded my daughter of a quilt. I was glad we went, it was quite informative.
Stephanie Duffield
Unusual/rare exhibits taking place multiple times a year. We've enjoyed the history of the high heel, the history of undergarments and the recent monet, manet, digas installments. Across the street is frick park, a great spot for a picnic or a stroll before or art the museum.
Mickey Revenaugh
Under renovation but key highlights still accessible. Loved Romare Beardon and the Car & Carriage exhibit. Gorgeous grounds!
Michael Rosen
The Frick is an amazing complex incorporating an art museum, carriage and car museum, historic house museum, gift shop, cafe, and garden. During sumner, the Frick remains open late and hosts live entertainment and special treats. The Frick is a must-visit cultural attraction.
Nora Venezky
Had a great experience talking to one of the gallery guides in the car and carriage musrum, very engaging. Loved walking around the beautiful campus while covered in snow. The visitor center and gift shop was a lovely and cozy space. Will definitely be back to wander the free sections again.
Jorge Luis Hernandez
Fun at the Frick!! Having just moved to Pittsburgh, my wife and I were excited to check out the Cafe at the Frick and it did not disappoint. The weather was good so we decided on brunch al fresco. The food was bangin! upscale service and great prices. Sitting outside was perfect with our 1 year old. I would recommend without hesitation and I will be re-visiting soon. The grounds and the car museum were also worth the trip.
Rebecca Olsen
What a beautiful place! Although Clayton (the house) was closed, the art collection was thought-provoking and impressive and the green house was beautiful.
Cris Rockwell
Nice art museum. Not too large.
michael gaska
Tough rich and wealthy man from over 100 years ago! Carnegie's right hand man! America was built with Pittsburgh steel. Come to the Frick museum and smile for the cameras 📷 in the restrooms!
Elizabeth J
The grounds and house were beautiful. Tour guide wasn't very friendly and it felt very rushed.
Stephen Lohrmann
This place is really neat. The Frick house (dark inside, our guide had to use a flashlight at times) and the family history is a must, our guide Charles was excellent ( five stars!); the kids will like the carriage museum, however I think the entire campus is more for adults. The Cafe is worth visiting, food is good, it's convenient and the atmosphere is comfortable.
Eloise J. Li
One of the better traditional art museums on the city. I've been here a few times. They have great travelling exhibitions and the free car museum is so fun. I like it much better than the Carnegie )since the Carnegie has so many replicas). The mansion is beautiful too and worth touring. The cafe has a decent afternoon tea service too if you happen to be there
Ever Greensoul
The cafe is tiny! The pictures are very very deceiving. Unfortunately, we could not eat there because there were no high tea accommodations available when we went. They don't take reservations either so you take a risk if you plan your day around it. Over priced too. The grounds were beautiful though. We took great pictures in the greenhouse and the museum.
Andrew Wolff
One of Pittsburgh's best spots.....
AJ Maxey
Neat place, especially because admission is free. I really liked the car and carriage museum. The greenhouse was pleasant as well.
Timothy Liebrock
You have to check this place out. If you're a history buff you'll love it. If you're a car fan you'll love it. Tours are $12 and you get to go through most of the house. Seeing the car and carriage museum is free and the kids will love it.
Leah Kozak
A lovely gem in Pittsburgh! Wonderful exhibits. Family friendly. Lots to see and do for everyone. I look forward to going again soon.
Deborah Coles
Frick has new exhibits on occasion. Today, I went to see the exhibit currently on display that included Degas, Rousseau, Redon, Pissaro,
Van Gogh, Monet, etc. The permanent collection is very nice, too.
Nina Gettemy
The grounds are free and open to the pubñic dawn till dusk. Hidden gem. Bring a picnic and frisbee! No pups
Margaret Smith
Amazing paintings! The eyes were so realistic. Clayton house is open for tours and it was really nice to see early 1900's living. General exhibit is free. Clayton house and rotating exhibit was $15 each. Very reasonable.
W G
Much automotive history to explore based on one person's life. As a transportation buff I really enjoyed this exhibit with my near-80 year-old uncle. I am grateful for something as simple as this for an attraction. This was a must-see item while visiting from Florida. Thanks to all of those who make this possible for the public to enjoy.
Jen Kwiatek
ART MUSEUM -
I have been to two exhibits at the art museum and both were gorgeous. I didn't want to leave! The staff is extremely polite and very helpful. Remember to bring a small purse or handbag, and no backpacks.
CAFE -
I first attended the café the day it reopened after being closed for the pandemic. It is such a beautiful and peaceful setting, the staff is wonderful, and the food is delicious and reasonably priced. Take time to stroll the grounds (small, but quite lovely), or maybe even cross the street and take a longer hike through Frick Park. The security guard on duty allowed us to remain parked at the museum while we hiked.
Daniel Pike
Have been there many times in the past but upon this visit it was under New Management or ownership potentially. The experience was nowhere near previous experience. The food was lackluster and paled in comparison to previous years... Sorry to see current situation
Len H.
A Victorian Era gem in Pittsburgh. Do the house tour. There is also an antique car collection and an art gallery. Nice little cafe on the grounds as well. Great place to spend an afternoon.
Rita Drake
Loved the carriage and car museum. As a master gardener I was disappointed in the Conservatory. It's not Phipps, but it would benefit having more of the plants identified. The art was very good; just not styles that I enjoy.
Erin Kelosky
Went for RAD days and it was a lovely time. My kids are begging to go back and visit again.
Constantine Domashnev
One of the very many terrific features of The Frick Center is docent-led tours. During my last such tour (Collection of British Sporting Art), our guide not only provided us with historic background ("live-and-learn!") on the events and gentlemen depicted but also decorated her stories with clever 'Horse' puns. I felt fortunate to enjoy it.
Nick Groh
Awesome place to visit and take some time to enjoy some history, art, classic cars, flowers, and the great outdoors. Everything being free and accepting donations with the exception of the house tour which is paid is amazing.
Dahn Tahn
Great well kept house and fantastic museum grounds always well maintained it's a good tour
Sir Harves
It's a nice place to stop by. We visited the art museum, it had antique painting and good location. We walked around to the small green house. Unfortunately, the café and Frick residential was closed so we will go back someday again.
Celeta Hickman
You'd be surprised! Something for everyone ☀️
Robert Craig
Small museum but beautiful location changing art venues but magnificent car collection. Most of the time admission is free with just a donation box.
Andra Carpino
Thoroughly enjoyed the Romare Beardan exhibit! The rest of the museum and grounds were lovely as well!
Sherry Snyder
Be sure to see this exhibit before it leaves. If you are a sewing lover,. This is a must see
Sue Kuroly
Wonderful experience, well worth a visit! Definitely take the time to tour Clayton, the house is amazing.
Kristal “Kick it With Kristal” Bartley
Beautiful park,greenhouse and museum
George Haw
A premier spot to visit in Pittsburgh for out of town visitors and local residents. Beautiful grounds with exotic trees and flowers. Art museum with an excellent permanent collection of fine art plus diverse, visiting exhibits. An extraordinary antique car museum. Gift shop with quality merchandise. Small green house.
Cafe for gourmet food. One hour docent led tours of the beautiful 1890 Clayton house.
Adequate on site parking plus street parking.
They charge small fees for the special exhibits and tour. Hiking trails available at the park across the street.
Janine Hannan
Nice property grounds, Mansion nor open, no tours or cafe due to covid.. after covid will be back to normal routines at the Frick
Michael Work
Car and buggy museum is very nice, and free! The house tours are not free but worth the price of admission. Consider getting a membership.
Eric Fialkovich
I saw works by Monet, Cezanne, Pissarro, Van Gogh, Renoir, Toulouse-Lautrec etc...!
0ctaind 86
It's a nice, small, historical place for Pittsburgh. There are a good bit of places to explore.
C Richardson
Docent you as excellent. Did a great job explaining the paintings
Henry Paiste
Absolutely incredible. A genuine Pittsburgh Jewel. If you’re on a time crunch, in order: art museum, Mr. Frick’s house, the gardens, and then the car museum.
Must visit.
Arin Canbolat
Great place to see the origins of Henry Clay Frick. The car collection is very interesting and the exhibit is great as it pulls together various elements of us history particularly Women's Sufferage. You also see the beginning of Frick's art collection, but definitely see the Frick collection in NYC for his greatest pieces.
Projectile Objects
This place is a gift. You don't have to be a history enthusiast or care about Henry Clay Frick, but you can walk around the grounds (visit the greenhouse in winter / very warm) use the grounds as a cut through to get to Frick park. Hang out in the museum with their rotating exhibitions or kick it at their cafe on a nice day.
It's a bit of a sprawl with some beautiful places to sit off the beaten path.
Go explore or enjoy a stroll. It's hard to go wrong.
Marty John Miller
Locational museum and grounds of the original H. C. Frick family home in Pittsburgh. Gardens and carriage house are free of charge. Great place for a family stroll.
Rebecca Bucky Willis
The tour of the mansion was really lovely and the entire campus is beautiful!
Jim Wachner
Tour of the house (Clayton) is very interesting. Unfortunately only the 1st floor is open to tours currently.
Sam Boyarsky
The art museum’s permanent collection isn’t really to my taste, but it is small and relatively quick. There are some stunning pieces of pottery/porcelain that are really worth seeing, and you can’t beat the price of admission (free).
The car and carriage museum is really awesome. Particularly cool to see a progression of vehicles focused around the turn of the century.
Also, the greenhouse isn’t large, but it was a lot of fun to wander in, particularly on a cold day.
roloB747
Pleasant place to spend a few hours with a few diverse exhibits.
Main exhibit is OK. Carriage house is great with the historical cars, and the greenhouse is worth a visit too.
Its a funny concept to go spend a few hours looking at old rich peoples stuff. Really gives you an appreciation for how the 'gilded age' ones lived.
The grounds are really nice to wander through.
Parking is on site and plentiful.
Jerry Reed
Only visited the Car and Carriage Museum Admission is Free. Car and carriages are well maintained and displayed. A hidden gem
Elizabeth Melton-Grace
Although a small museum, there are some extremely interesting pieces including Flemish tapestries, renaissance panels, etc. Plus it's free!
Cynthia L Meshanko
A smaller venue of art, usually with a traveling display. Today, a paper art -dress and costume display - fascinating! In the Frick style, tastefully exhibited.
Krister Schwertfuehrer
It's beautiful. Went in the morning and it wasn't too hot. The grounds are great and the garage and art exhibits are very nice. The gift shop was cool. The restaurant was also nice. Didn't make it into the big house, though. Everything we did except for lunch was free. I'd like to make it to a Friday event with a performance and food truck.
Mark LoGiurato
Terrific gardens and collection! Don't miss the car collection!
Tiffany Yanosky
The Frick Pittsburgh museum is the former home of Henry Clay Frick, the coke/steel and railroad industrialist who lived from the 1800s to early 1900s. Several years ago, I visited the Frick’s Clayton mansion, art museum, greenhouse, and cafe. Today, I walked around the five acres of land, and I visited the car and carriage museum. I had purchased timed tickets online, and they were FREE! Upon my entering the car and carriage museum, three employees courteously greeted me. I saw many antique cars and carriages, and nearby signs informed me about the vehicle’s horsepower, speed, distance, etcetera. Surprisingly, most cars were reasonably priced, although a couple such as Royce Rolls would be worth six figures today. Afterward, I visited the gift shop, where I bought a few items. The cashier was friendly and prompt in her service.
Kachina Mooney
Excellent exhibits, moving and powerful
Alisha Zanath
The Frick is very pretty. Take a tour of the house if you can. It is beautiful and the tour was informative and neat. The area is beautiful with lots to look at in the garden and in the museums. Staff is friendly too. Friday night at the Frick was a little crowded but it was a great experience and beautiful in the dust. I liked it and had fun.
David Heathcote
We went here for a show. The Pittsburgh Public Theater presented; "Barefoot in the Park" on a stage setup on the ground of Frick Park. The grounds are lovely, the show was incredable. A great show and perfect venue. Lots to see at the park, I want to return when we have more time, there's tours, and manicured grounds to walk.
Michael Rusanowsky
Such a beautiful home and grounds. The tour was excellent and highly recommend. Very informative and the guide was able to answer all questions, even went into detail about the art that was collected by the family. The carriage house was very nice as well, we didn't stop in at the art museum at the front due to lack of time. If parking is full in the lot on site, the neighboring streets offer street parking as well for free.
John Stubbing
A small but really fantastic art collection, and a very interesting house where the family lived. Gallery is free and the house tour full of useful information and a reasonable price. Good car museum and a nice café in a relaxed and enjoyable setting. Not great for children but for grown ups lots of interesting history a lovely art.
Thiago Najdek
The museum is small but it's free for the general exhibits and the property itself is well-maintained and beautiful to explore. The open greenhouse was a great touch to the experience.
Daniel Rodriguez
Excellent small art venue with interesting exhibits. The permanent exhibit is also very good. The carriage museum is excellent. Make sure to stop in the greenhouse, look for the bananas! Well worth an afternoon or evening visit, impressive that this is almost completely free (only the Clayton requires payment in the form of paying for a guided tour).
Dante
This place has more than a single days worth of entertainment. (1) The cafe has AMAZING food and the tea service is incredible. (2) The tours of the mansion are great and very informative. The docents are knowledgeable and entertaining. (3) The greenhouse is small but worth a quick visit as is the play house. (4) The garage is one of my favorite parts! So many cool cars that have been restored very well. A must visit if there. (5) The museum itself is small, maybe an hour's worth of browsing but they host great artists and the porcelain exhibit they had when I visited was superb.
Donald Dudley
Overall, this was a good experience, but not a great one. Even after re-reading their website, I still am convinced that , as an out of town visitor, I would not have know that to maximize my visit, I should spend time in each and every building, not simply the art museum. The special exhibit from the VA Museum of Fine Arts, was very nice, but even coupling it with the standing exhibit of the Frick collection, overall, it was a little lacking. Had we realized the full extent of the property, we would have arrived earlier, allowed more time, and white probably had a much better experience.
Kim E
Awesome to be able to tour a largely intact estate from a bygone era. A treasure that should be on everyone's "must see" list. Enjoy a delicious lunch at the terrace cafe prior to a docent-led tour. Reservations for both are highly recommended. Wonderfully unique books can be found in the gift shop for avid readers. I enjoy introducing visiting friends and family members to Pittsburgh's rich history via the Frick Art and History Center. Always a most pleasant experience.
Ian Cain
So many things to see and do here and most of it is free to the public except for the special exhibitions. We regularly go on nice days just to walk the grounds and visit the cafe. You can definitely lose some time wandering through the carriage museum, art collection, green house, mansion, and even just the gift shop. There are always events happening too. The event planning staff here is certainly creative and community minded.
Chris LeClere
Great collections and well curated exhibitions.. Especially considering the size of their space..
Lolly Owens
Terri conducted a walking tour of grounds and it was very interesting. The car museum was filled with amazing old cars
Didn't get to art museum and house is closed until Spring
We will return
Rita Eazoru I'm k i8
It is a beautiful facility, was interesting and educational. Our Docent was quite knowledgeable, friendly and very accomodating. We did not feel a very warm welcome or from the other staff and/or volunteers. Our city has this reputation which is something to be proud of and would enhance the enjoyment of tourists coming to the museum. Intellect with a warm heart can't be beat👍
Susan Saltos
Currently closed inside. Car museum is open. I didn't take pictures.

Great museum to visit. We enjoy our time there and love to explore the space! The cafe is somehow famous and always seems to be loaded of customers. Staffs are friendly and welcoming. The museum area is very clean and well organized.
michelle aul
Bridal shower held and it was perfect. Window wall gave great lighting. Staff was outstanding. Clean and grounds was fantastic
Jean Anne Matter
We are members and go often. Small museum with varied rotating exhibitions, well mounted and (for us) invariably enjoyable. Beautiful little building in a park-like setting adjacent to Clayton, the Henry Clay Frick mansion. Nice visitors center. Old car and carriage museum interesting and a hit with the kids. Cafe has great high-end cuisine, but usually all booked up. Large parking lot. Wheelchair accessible. The art museum is not really for little kids, but one adult could run them around the car museum (or outside, weather permitting) while others view the art.
Jenn Landsberg
The Frick is an amazingly preserved piece of history. Clayton house has been meticulously frozen in time and is a great piece of living history. The art museum is surprisingly stocked with various types of art from different genres and artists. The car and carriage museum is a must see even if you aren't a "car person". Make sure to have a guided tour by one of their highly knowledgeable docents to learn lots of interesting historical information about the family, the house and the art.
David Walker
I think the most important thing to remember is that the Frick is not just the one small building with a once privately held art collection. The Frick, as the brochure says, is an ‘experience’. From start to finish the entire estate needs to be savored; one painting at a time, one building at a time, one automobile at a time, one flower at a time, and one room of the Clayton at a time. Enjoy the Visitors Center, the souvenir shop filled with all sorts of amazing items, and last but not least, enjoy the Café. If you arrive first thing in the morning when they open, allow a couple of hours to see everything, and then have an elegant lunch.
Yes, the art museum is small - one of the smallest I’ve seen next to the Kennedy Museum of Art in Athens, Ohio. But it’s the small museums that are the most manageable - ones that when you’re done there’s no ‘burn out’ syndrome. I love art, all kinds of art, and there are some truly fine examples on display. Take the time to appreciate what is there, and don’t try to critically compare it to museums you’ve been to ‘all over the world’ as far as the quantity or quality. I too have been to museums all over the world and still found this enjoyable. Loved the collection of fine vehicles in the Car and Carriage Museum. The Greenhouse was mostly under renovation and only the center room contained plants and flowers, but there was still something beautiful there to enjoy.
The staff were all very kind and helpful, we shared names of artists and influences, and they couldn’t have been nicer.
Overall my time at the Frick was amazing. I plan to go back again in the summer to see what’s new!
isaac serbin
I work at the Cafe at The Frick and have been a patron to the museums and grounds many times even before working there. All are great and the grounds are great for a nice stroll. To the cafe, the food is truly to dye for. So delicious. The menu changes all the time, so if you come back more than once you can try plenty of new things. Same with the deserts. The pastry chef is always trying new creative things. Making a reservation in advance is very important to getting a table at the cafe. However, if you are not a member you can only make same day reservations (become a member 🙂 ).
Duane Hawk
Very nice museum for its smaller size. Includes art work, car and cartridge section, children's section as well as special exhibits. The current is dresses, gowns, mens attire, jewelry, as well as shoes all made of painted paper. You look at these and have to remind yourself this is all made from paper, but you would swear it is cloth. Even the lace looks real! Well worth the visit, planning on returning again.
Ryan Stock
I enjoyed the exhibits! The China and Art were beautiful to behold, but probably the best part is the car exhibit--lots of history and interesting facts behind those first automobiles!
Kellie Putnam-Miller
Very pretty grounds, great for a family day out! Younger kids, I would not recommend as it is "keep your hands to yourself" and very buttoned up.
tania oliverio
Small boutique museum. Beautiful art, the mansion is just stunning and full of history. Almost all original to the house furnishings and the cafe and the setting are to die for. Oh, and don't pass up the car museum! Lots to see and free summer concerts too
Courtney Vock
The museum has some of the best rotating exhibits in the city. The house is gorgeous and the docents are very knowledgeable. The grounds are beautiful to just enjoy a walk. Great gift shop!
Katie McCartney
Very nice tour of the Clayton. The Car Museum was fantastic. The Art Museum was alright but I'm not into the art that was displayed while we were there. Really did not see the "Killer Heals" exhibit because there were a bunch of people there looking at it and it was a very small exhibit that did not allow the crowds to disburse. Overall, pleasant experience. I would highly recommend.
Wayne G
Beautiful evening filled with great music and delicious food.
Deb Saia
I have never been there prior to this visit. I think I was expecting a bit more from the Van Gogh, Degas, Monet exhibit. Fairly small, and only a few I liked, but that's art! The small gift shop is nice, with a seating area where one can peruse books. I wanted to try the cafe, but my group was not amenable. Perhaps another day.
Patrick McCoy
Always a great experience. Even if you haven't booked a tour at Clayton, you can come to your the grounds yourself for free. It's a fascinating look at Pittsburgh's history. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, always willing to answer questions and help.
Jackie Cruz
Free entrance and beautiful artwork. Employees are polite and gave us so much information about pieces and the history of the museum. Also, there is a lovely park across the street.
Buck Bogie
Great museum. A true treasure. The exhibits are so well done.
Lyl Rose
This is truly a treasure in Pittsburgh! So much to do and see during a visit here and a lot of it is free! The Carriage Museum is an amazing collection of classic transportation through the ages. The buggies are a hoot! Just need a horse to attach and take a ride. One car is allowed to be "touched" so you can climb in and start an imaginary adventure. The kids loved it. The Frick Art Collection is fabulous and the visiting Van Gogh, Monet & Degas exhibit of the Mellon Collection from The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts was spectacular and impressive. A wonder filled opportunity to see some amazing pieces. Degas ballerina is my most favorite. We enjoyed High Tea in the cafe afterwards and it was nice enough to side on the patio where we could enjoy the gardens and people watch. We didn't have time or space to visit Clayton (so make your tour reservations before you visit!) so we will definitely be back. Make time to stroll through Frick park which is adjoining for a visit with nature!
Stephanie S
Absolutely incredible. I can't believe I haven't been before. It's really so lovely. Do be aware, no children are permitted.
Chris Napolitano
A museum that's free? Can't beat it. They have lovely art and some seriously neat cars and carriages. If you want to tour the house, that does cost money. But if you just want to kill an hour, the museum is a great place to do it.
J. B. Van Wely
We went for the Frick Mansion tour, but ended up spending the entire day. We took in an Isabelle de Borchgrave exhibit in the gallery, and the separate Carriage and Car museum. The Tea Shop is supposed to be very good, but you need to make reservations. Everything was very well done. It was a day well-spent.
Natalie K
First time there and we were impressed that it was free. Very beautiful antiques and buildings.
We had planned on eating lunch in the "cafe" but there are only five tables, which where full of course. I asked if we could leave our name and was told that they are having "tea time" and were booked the rest of the day (it was 2pm). Meanwhile, a couple by the door were in fact ordering meals.
Someone in the museum said it was for gms only. They don't seem to want to serve outsiders.
Besides this, we had a lovely time and plan to return.
Mike K
It's a beautiful place. The Frick is a place the you might enjoy more with a group of women than men. The entire property is a little more slanted towards something that a woman would enjoy. There is an antique car museum too. Great food at the restaurant!
Sara Davis
Hubby and I are both photographers and were disappointed that we were not allowed to take any pictures inside the buildings. It would have been nice to show them off to bring our friends to see the museums as well. Also the woman behind the desk at the art museum was very unfriendly, and kind of snobbish. Although the first gentleman in the car museum was great we walked around the first room with us giving us the history of all the different carriages. The only thing good about our visit was the first guy and that we were able to stay out of the rain.
Delsa White
Loved the photo show of Frieda Kahlo's life. It was special as our daughter was visiting and we had not seen her due to the pandemic for over a year. The exhibit was a sensitive rendering of the times.
Harvey Butts
Great place to come walk daily.
bob lange
Beautiful and varied museum on beautiful grounds. There is a special exhibit when we visited, so I would like to return to see more of their permanent collection.
E Pardalis
We really enjoyed visiting The Frick in Pittsburgh. We had gone to the one in NYC and this was a nice contrast to it. The Frick in Pittsburgh feels like an actual home vs the museum like feel in NYC. The home boasts progressive interior details from it's time period and the guides are very knowledgeable. The car museum is an added bonus.
Mr Forex
Interesting collection of 1800s art and the life of the PA back in the day.
Jenna Chung
Fridays at the Frick are our favorite thing to do in the summer! A beautifully manicures lawn, Serene museum and all the trimmings from the greenhouse to the exhibits to the cafe and shop. The Frick is always a great place for a classy lunch, but in the summer, the Friday concert series are to live for! Thanks for hosting an always organized, EXTREMELY family friendly (how are there possibly that many babies in Pittsburgh?!), Fun, and well-staffed, dependable regular event!
Mark Schneider
The Frick house is a very cool experience. The house tour takes about an hour. You get to see some interesting turn of the century architecture and learn about the Frick family, Pittsburgh history, and get a view of what daily life for the wealthy steel executives of that time. The grounds and art museum are also worth a visit.
Jacquie Walters
Visiting Pittsburgh with a friend and we were looking for fun stuff to do. The underwear exhibit caught our eye in the local paper so we decided to check out the Frick. What a great little museum! We had a blast. I think our favorite part was the carriage house!
Chris Tabb
Third time I've been in ten years. Tour guide(can't remember her name) was very knowledgeable. Shared many things I hadn't heard before. They had a few "new" things on display inside the house. A few "new" cars were on display in the car and carriage museum also. Young man on staff there knew a lot.
Matthew Arroyo
They have some amazing artwork and very nice antique wagons and vehicles. There is an antique vehicle that you are even allowed to get into so that you can pose for pictures etc. This is all free! The tour of the frick house you have to pay for, which we did not but not because of price. Prices were actually reasonable, would go back here in a heartbeat.
Monika Safford
The grounds, regular collection, and auto museum are free and well worth a visit. We saw the Monet/Degas/van Gogh traveling exhibit, a nice bite size show with some jewels worth the ticket price. Came on a Friday, when the cafe serves dinner, the only night of the week when they do. Normally reservations are a must. Great al fresco meal, 3 delicious choices on the pris fixe menu. Highly recommend this lovely spot!
Haley Balles
Not too big but, that is a good thing. The exhibits are accessable (to see) and interesting. I viewed a traveling exhibit of Katherine Hepburn's clothes and costumes. It was so well done.
Ken Frazier
Cool place even with the rain that we encountered we still could run from building to building. The carriage display was impressive we had fun walking around the greenhouse had no issues with parking and will come back on a nice day. Also the neighborhood was much safer than I expected
Hannah Childs
This was a fun experience. The house tour was unique experience. If you are looking for something a little bit different to do in Pittsburgh, this might be worth looking into!
Thomas Parker
The hood ornament show was nice. Here are a few pictures of the show. And the cat, best I can tell is it roams the grounds and is friendly to pet.
Chris J Fry
The Frick in Pittsburgh is a secret treasure. An excellent museum, whether you want to see the gorgeous grounds, the antique cars, or the fancy old home where the Frick family lived their lives. I love the conservatory as well! I recommend visiting, and planning to have a light bite at The Cafe. Plus the new visitors center is comfy and has an excellent local gift-shop. It's a fantastic place to surprise an out-of-towner with a gorgeous view of Pittsburgh history.
Lourdes Quiroz
Loved the property. Eventhough the Clayton Mansion is closed due to Covid. Enjoyed the Art exhibit, the vintage cars..will recommend
Builder H
This place is great. You can tour the original buildings on the property. They have a car museum with really cool cars from horse drawn carriages to rolls royce's. During the summer there are events that have food trucks, wine, music, and kids activities. It is a very well taken care of part of Pittsburgh hstory.
Nicole
We didn't make it for the Van Gogh, Monet, and Degas exhibit, but we checked out the museum otherwise. There's not much to see. The recreated 19th century sitting rooms are magnificent. The building itself gives you a real sense of the era of the height of Pittsburgh and the influence of men like Henry Clay Frick. But as far as extensive exhibits, you won't find much here.
There is, however, an impressive car and carriage museum on the site with impressively restored cars from the 1920s and earlier. The guide was extremely knowledgeable, and we got to sit in a 1930s Model A!
Alicia Templeton
LOVE. One of the most beautiful gems in Pittsburgh. Free parking, free to walk the grounds, free carriage house, free art museum. Take your mom here, take your grandma here. Put on a hat, order a round of mimosas at the cafe, feel fancy, and support this cultural treasure because I have Downton Abbey fantasies and need it in my life.
Autumn Dewey
Beautiful grounds & collections! Toured the house, worth the price of admission, although a bit disappointed that no pictures could be taken. Also disappointed that free art museum actually charges to see the "special exhibit" so we missed that.
SR PRIYA
4.5 stars. Lovely car and carriage museum. Pretty library. One wants to sit there all day and read and gaze out. History is always in the air, especially with the guides giving tours to small groups.
E L
The Frida Kahlo portraits exhibit was stunning! And I loved the installation piece created by Vanessa German!! And the grounds are beautiful at The Frick, too!!
A. A. Akhtar
Lots of choices for folks with a variety of interests. Very good restaurant.
An addition to my older review: the cafe offers Harney teas, which are excellent! Recently I had àn outstanding Japanese Sencha there.
Cocktail Chef Productions
Very interesting cars/carriages exhibit. Permanent collection is very old and interesting. Beautiful grounds, cant wait for more buildings to open after covid. Will go back.
Nick Palmer
Very nice exhibit showcasing a couple van Gogh paintings and the degas dancer sculpture. A few Renoir paintings also. To me, well worth the 15 dollars. There were other paintings by impressionist artists that i wasn't familiar with such as Gauguin i think and Cezanne. It was packed tho. I think they should stream people in a little slower. Some people like to look at the works for longer than others, and this caused kind of a backup of people. Knowledgeable and friendly curators.
Andrew Talbot
Had a wonderful time here. They let you wander at will and there's no pressure. The food and service at the cafe were first rate but pricey for lunch sized portions. Be prepared to wait for a table and for your food but worth it when it comes and ambience is wonderful.
Suzanne Werder
Truly a treasure. Make sure to check out the art museum and the car and carriage museum. Someday I want to have high tea here.
Fred Irvin
Fantastic and FREE. (Mansion req's a fee)
Karen Vickers
If you want to have a small manageable museum to visit, this is it. The exhibits change on a regular basis, so you can go back every few months for a totally new experience each time.
cynthia willis
Would love to have seen the inside of the house.
How ignorant of the disease to make us wear masks. Read and learn from experts, not the news.
Deborah Corsini
Everything from the grounds, the architecture, the classic and exquisite main and free exhibits from the permanent collection, which includes decorative arts and a vast array of painting, to their wonderful special exhibition, occasionnally for a nominal entrance fee, the lectures, docent tours and musical perfomances in an acoustically excellent space...outstanding local treasure not to be missed. Summers on Friday nights include dinner available in the delicious Cafe, musical perfomances, food trucks and an incredible selection in the gift shop, which is also beautifully designed. The carriage house is a newly reopened and refurbished space housing an amazing collection of actual vehicles from carriages to classic cars that will delight car enthusiasts. And, if you are from out of town, reservations and an admission fee are required for Clayton, the original home of the Frick family, still beautifully decorated accurately to the period. They also provide and recommend tours. Children may not be permitted under a certain age, so do inquire. The Cafe for daily lunch is excellent, but if you are not a Frick member, it's wise to call ahead and reserve the morning of your visit, as prior to same day is only for members. The menu is wonderful , and the atmosphere charming. Well behaved children and grandchildren will usually enjoy the food, but it is a cozy and vintage style, but outdoor door seating is available wheather permitting. Families will enjoy the easy acces across the street to wonderful Frick Park, one of Pittsburgh's several 19th century large and varied urban oases.
Jeff T.
Decent permanent art collection that is augmented periodically by outside collections. Interesting antique auto display (about 10-12 vehicles I think), beautiful, relaxing grounds, with a nice cafe that serves lunch, afternoon tea 2-4PM and dinner (only on Fridays).
Ray Marks
Visited the Frick for the first time to view the Mellon Impressionist paintings. It was wonderful.
Very nicely displayed. We enjoyed the large print booklets. Thank you.
Very curtious staff.
Austin Keay
The Frick museum is a great way to learn about Pittsburgh's past and how it has evolved from the steel boom to now being a cultural gem in USA. The amount of art and technology in this city is great and the Frick holds on to a segment of what made Pittsburgh into what it is today. The main art pieces at the Frick are a collection from the family's private collection. The exhibits that come through make it worth going back for each one as they explore a wide range of mediums and subjects.
Brandy Lee
Loved our visit here. Cyndi our tour guide was very knowledgeable, we really appreciated having her take her time to tell us all about the house and it's history. Thank you so much!!
Margarita Paizer
I didn't go in but visited many times over the years. A charming place to visit and learn about Pittsburgh's industrialists and their contributions to the history.
Riley Bronaugh
The frick is one of my favorite places in Pittsburgh. They always have great shows. I've never been disappointed going. You'll probably spend an hour or so at the museum.
Jon-Paul Berexa
One of my favorite places. Love coming here for tours, performances, lunch, tea, museum visits and more. Beautiful and historical. Don't love the modern buildings they're adding but I guess that's what people do these days. Still great.
Ian Everhart
The Frick is a neat little collection. There is a decent survey of European art in the main museum and a number of cool antique cars also on display. You can also walk around the gardens and grounds including the greenhouse. The mansion is the only part with an entrance fee but they have occasional free days. It's an overflow of gilded age opulence and worth a visit. Bonus points if you also go to the Frick Collection in New York and see Frick's more famous paintings.
Brian King
Lovely collection of Italian Renaissance works in a boutique like setting. Antique cars and carriages are intriguing. Beautiful gardens and a charming cafe.
Judy Casella
I love their exhibits. Very interesting. And the house tour was excellent. What a rich history Pittsburgh has. They've done an excellent job keeping the place up.
Alexa Faillace
We had an amazing tour of the grounds with Sue who was excellent at answering any and all questions we had! We cannot wait to come back and see the inside of the house when it’s open!
Garth Schafer
The Frida Kahlo in photos exhibit was great and Wear and Peace was interesting but small, but then so is the Frick. It's a great place at a great price
Polina Chernomorets
We loved the car radiator ornaments exhibition! Beautiful Art Deco pieces. Very informative.
Pro Photographer Don Orkoskey
The Frick always has great visiting exhibits and the regular collection is worth a visit too.
John Sennott
Something for every interest. A very nice art museum. The family mansion with guided tours. There is also a car and carriage museum displaying Frick family carrages from the late 1890s. Also on display are antique cars from a 1898 Panhard, Rolls-Royce, Ford Model T, 1932 Lincoln, 1940 Bantam and several other cars.
Steven Chiado
Have been to the grounds and toured the mansion several times, but just recently got to experience the Summer Friday event and it did not disappoint. A great event in a beautiful setting.
Edward Streiff
A stunning place to visit and see artwork in a small, comfortable setting. The rooms have various themes and they had a live person playing the flute which really added to the whole experience
Megan Lloyd
Wonderful place to spend a few hours. Lots of nooks and crannies to see, and grounds to explore. Good rotating exhibits and menu. Frick Fridays are a family favorite.
Shivaun Corry
Great space and free (with the exception of travelling exhibits). I hope that they bring back some of the outdoor events which were cancelled due to Covid last summer.
Jamie Bennish
Great historical house with an art collection. The tours are well-rounded and provide a fascinating look at the lives of the Frick family so long ago. This is a great overall experience.
Sarah Malecha
The estate is beautiful and everything but the house is free to see! The museum's only take a couple hours to look through if you read all the signs.
April Roberson
An interesting, small museum. I really enjoyed the cars and carriages. Unfortunately it was 97 degrees and humid out so I didn't get to spend much time enjoying the garden and grounds.
Emily Quebedeaux
Neat little museum! The car exhibit was more interesting than I expected.
Michael McCoy
Great historic tour of the house of a Pittsburgh millionaire. Painstakingly preserved and maintained. Wish there was less mention of the vast expanses of the house not open for public viewing.
karen florian
Amazing permanent collection and traveling exhibits. Gift shop with beautiful items and books. Historic home and museum.
Jason Sacramento
Very nice place to take the kids. Friendly staff with a lot of knowledge.
Summer Rae
Beautiful, free and peaceful city park.
Sarjoun Skaff
Really nice. The property is very well kept, the restaurant is OK, they offer outdoor events on summer Fridays, and the collection of vintage cars is remarkable.
Kathleen Murray
Venue is lovely set on the grounds of the family home...the museum has frequent special exhibits...the small dining area is a wonderful experience, including good food
Heather Thomas
A small art collection. Clean and free!
Rose Bosler
Love this place. Don't miss it. Intimate art Museum with wonderful special exhibits.
Frick home not to missed, especially at Christmas, Frick cafe is a treat.
Kacper Jarecki
It's free! There is no reason not to go. The exhibits change and are definitely worth checking out.
Victoria Graham
First of all, we discovered that this estate was the only one remaining to visit and tour of the industrial/commercial tycoons that made this town so prominent in the industrial revolution (Carnegie, Mellon, Phipps, Boggs, etc...). Unfortunately, it was for sad (but understandable...) reasons: most of these people were not only in the top 1%, but they were also active opponents of unions and workers' rights (which did not leave them very loved by the rest of the city's populace…). Thankfully, Henry Clay Frick's primary heir (his daughter, Helen...) became a philanthropist after his passing, and greatly redeemed the family name in Pittsburgh. Note: besides putting together a team of nurses to tend to the soldiers in WWI (where her interest in art also led her to create a catalog of the extensive artwork in Europe...), that very catalog was used by the American Monuments Men that went behind enemy lines in WWII to save the artwork that Hitler had stolen!
Grant Dervishi
Nice on the outside and inside. Beautifully kept gardens and European old Master art but they should ditch trying to incorporate modern, politically themed art.
Stephanie
Loved the history. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. The house is kept in great shape and the greenhouse is exquisite!
Laura Duncan
Love the Victorian Pre-Raphaelite exhibit...favorite painting of Morgan LaFey was there in it's resplendent glory!
Christopher Dudley
We got there an hour before closing so didn't get to explore much, but what we did see was great. We look forward to visiting again next to we come to Pittsburgh!!
Jeanette Curry
Car and Carriage museum is free on the Frick Grounds. See the way the Carriage Trade traveled during the Gilded Age.
Carey Rote
Ok, fantastic! The end.
Pamela Gianni
A beautiful venue! The house museum is a Victorian gem, the art museum has permanent collection, and the Frick Cafe is my go-to place for new visitors to Pittsburgh.
Hannah Hitchens
very enjoyable, wish it were a bit larger
Daniel Klein
Great small collection with fantastic traveling exhibits, Friday's at the Frick with music and BYOB is wonderful, just lots of people enjoying the air, being well mannered and drinking (i.e., no drunks).
Maia Hochheiser
I have been to many of the special exhibits at the museum, and each one of them has been great
Ms. E
History. You can access the museum, greenhouse, antique car display, and all the grounds for free. Only pay to tour the house. Lovely look back in time.
Annalisa Haughwout
It is free to see wonderful works of art, the gift store is unique and delightful, the horse buggies and elegant vehicles are amazing...an awesome way to spend a day!
Joy H
It’s just a beautiful spot. I love the cafe - the food is very tasty the staff are great and it’s beautiful to sit outside in such a pretty spot. Rare to find such lovely outdoor seating. Good for kids too’
Shelly Ford
Absolutely loved the women's sport clothing through the ages exhibit and the car and medallion hall was amazing
John LeCornu
The Frick Pittsburgh presented Van Gogh, Monet, Degas: The Mellon Collection of French Art from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. I believe these were the private pieces of the Mellons. It made for a facinating exhibit not only because of the artists but an opportunity to see perhaps lesser known works the Mellons loved. There was a wonderful intimacy created and being escorted by two Fine Art majors filling in the blanks and getting tidbits on brush strokes and paint mixes etc made for yet another awesome day at The Frick.
Ng TatSang
Excellent car display. Art gallery was ok. The gift shop glass building was really nice. Wished they had talked about it.
Tony Milczarek
As always a pleasure going there.
Marijude Lowman
Hi again, last month I posted about being a new member and talking with Paul in the cafe, always a delight! Lastnight was awesome, Bourbon and Bocce 😊everyone had a fun time and the staff was very kind. My friend and I were one of the last to leave. The girls helped, along with a very nice security guard. In retrieving our things from a locker. Thanks again for opening the shop so we could get our things! You will be seeing us soon. Keep up the good work to everyone 😊 Marijude Lowman!

The Art Museum is the less well-known partner to the Clayton house tour. Displaying a standard core set of artwork along with rotating installations, it's worth the extra time to visit.
The Enchanted Cottage
Always helpful and friendly. Interesting temporary exhibits. A wonderful little Cafe with outdoor seating. Free summer events on the lawn.
Karen Wick
The Frick Clayton house is a trip into the past. It holds the wealth of Mr. Frick's family as if they still resided there. It ,(if you get a dosset that gives a good history), contains tales of the lives of the Steel Barons and their relationships to Pittsburgh and dignitaries.
Just remember the immigrants that worked to make them have a lavished life.
David Rice
Great exhibit - Victorian Radicals. $10 for this special exhibition. Final week.
Scott Stuit
I'm sad that you now have to have ropes around the carriages and cars on exhibit. I understand why but am sad it has to be. I wear my Frick hat proudly especially to car shows.
Carol Jozwiak
The little gem in Pgh. The special exhibits are always outstanding. Not to mention the beautiful property, Clayton and the cafe for dinning. Luv this place!!
William Woodward
Great museum. The cafe serves great food. It was awesome to visit this place and will definitely come back here soon.
Taylor Brost
Beautiful museum however backpacks are not allowed... kinda strange rule, although lockers are provided for you to keep your belongings.
Margi Wysong
Loved 3 museums--carrage and cars, art , and mansion. Low prices. Free parking. Incredible displays!
Jill Forsthoefel Grant
Interesting small museum.
Karan Singh
Picturesque. Ideal for leisurely walks or running or biking
Michael Steiner
Pittsburgh Disruptive Museum. We, LOVE It
Patricia Schartner
Beautiful exhibits. The cafe is one of my favorite places to eat. Have been to the Frick 3 Times this year. Never disappointed.
James Reed
It's a wonderful house with an excellent museum on the grounds. Knowledgeable staff obviously love their work👍👍👍👍. …
Christina G
So fun. Lots of neat stuff to see and learn about.
Rasky Bukowski (Rasky)
I enjoyed the Street Photography to Surrealism exhibit quite a bit, in particular, André Kertész. :) Very kind and welcoming staff.
Gretchen S
Wonderful place to learn and see Pittsburgh history. But it the luck of the draw if you get a good guide to go through the house then it's a better experience.
Charla Gloyd
Beautiful place. We had a great guide, Charles.
Kurt Stahlfeld
Mellon paintings very special. Incredible that a family can own that many pieces, but relatively limited for a museum.
Justin Everett
Beautiful historic property with many amenities.
Mathew Hill
Great park, with plenty of well groomed trails. Family and dog friendly. Wish would have had more time to explore.
Bob DAlessandro
We visit the Frick often. It's such a nice gem in pointe breeze. Highly recommend going and checking it out. Stop by on Friday nights too!
Claire Crawley
Loved the Katharine Hepburn exhibition!! Good write ups about Kate's films and the costumes.
Mark Alonso
Loved the house tour. Our guide was exceptional. Car museum outstanding.
Carol Coyle
Went with several friends to see the Impressionists exhibit. It was delightful. We loved seeing the Mellon collection.
Gail Jordan
Beautiful day with good friends. Lovely place to see. Gardens are magnificent, food at the Cafe was good, sweet waitress. Good day!
Cory
The Frick made for an enjoyable afternoon. The Clayton tour and home was beautifully and interesting to see and it was nice to walk around the grounds.
Karen G
The Maker and the Muse was amazing! Unfortunately, it ends tomorrow. The Frick is taking all safety precautions seriously.
Victoria McNemar
My friends and I went on Valentine’s Day and had a blast. All the art was beautiful.
Ashley Baskin
Grounds, cafe, the Frick Clayton home, and museum are all spectacular. Staff are kind. Parking is aplenty and free.
Frank Moreno
Really unusual cars at the museum. Well worth a visit. Kind of a history of very early cars from carriages to lincolns.
Lewis Zellmann
Great art exhibitions. Presently, the Victorian Radicals are on display.
Nada Quever
Beautiful grounds and many free options, but we paid for a tour of the house and found the tour guide to be both lacking in knowledge and exceedingly rude, so visit the grounds, but steer clear of the house.
Lisa Marie Bruno
Great Act 48 Workshop
John Scheib
Went to see a traveling exhibition, and the location was very enjoyable. There was enough of a crowd to make things cramped, but it was better than traveling out of state to see some of the art
Tom Doran
Great museum. Lots of interesting parts to this museum. Some art, some cars, and some flowers. Also a nice spot for lunch.
matthew pingor
Is Hank around? My buddy Hank, or Henry I guess, told me to meet him for some good fishing at his lake outside Johnstown. Not only did he stand me up, the lake is gone!
MJ Ferguson
Worth going to for the exhibits. If you get a chance to get into the cafe it a fun lunch place.
Elizabeth Seay
