Reviews of Andy Griffith Museum
Jody M.
We decided to make the trip here and we were not disappointed. Lots to see and read. Touch screen interactive video clips and information is new. We saw , read and heard things we never knew. Beautiful tribute to a beloved actor. His life is well documented. We recommend you plan a day or two and come here. Beautiful town with wonder people.
Larry Loveday
It's a nice museum if you're old enough to remember Andy Griffith and most notably his namesake show. We enjoyed our visit a great deal. The building is small but the exhibits were nice and the clothing and other materials from the show put a smile on our face as we remembered a time far far away.
Michael Hagen
The Andy Griffith Museum in Mount Airy NC is a sweet little museum. This was a great visit with interactive monitors (Which my wife loved) and lots of keepsakes from the cast of the Andy Griffith Show. In addition it has some nice memorabilia from Andy Griffith's singing days and some of his other movies. There's more to see downstairs too. The museum doesn't take that long to visit, unless your wife likes to press every button on the AV displays like mine does, but it's just about right. Then, when you're done, take a visit down on main street for more souvenirs, visit Floyd's Barber Shop, and grab a Barnie Burger at Barney's Cafe. ...oh...oh... loved the coffee at "Page's Books and Coffee Shop". Really flavorful and not bitter. Sweet staff too! I really hope you found this review helpful! 😊

An amazing place with such amazing TV history. The museum might not be too big but it's about what it represents in a person like Andy Griffith and the characters that were on his show. Many memorabilia items on display. And a small shop to buy items. If you're a fan of Andy Griffith this must be a place that you have to go.
A Campbell
Cute! Cost $10 each adult. Knew he could sing but didn't know he had recorded albums. Was fun. Recommend.
Ron T
I still love the Andy Griffith show. So I liked this cute little museum. Even better is walking around Mt Airy which has a genuine downtown. Leon’s Burger Express is a place I could imagine Barney and Andy eating at.
Dave Cipriani
When in Mount Airy, you must go to this museum. This museum dedicated to the life of Andy Griffith is so good. So many memories of his life and works. We stopped and watched a clip from one if the shows about Aunt Bea and her Kerosene pickles and died laughing. This is a can't miss part of the city!
brogabe
Although on the smaller side, the Andy Griffith Museum is worth your time, especially if you are a fan of the Andy Griffith Show.
Within the Museum are several individual exhibits featuring aspects of Andy Griffith’s life.
Out in front of the Museum is a bronze statue of Sheriff Andy and his son, Opie, carrying their fishing poles.
They offer a small selection of souvenirs. The clerk, Alan, was very helpful.
Laurie Maynor
First thing we seen as we got in town was an old cop car driving down the street. This place was very small but informative. I was impressed with Andy's talents made want to look some up to see how good he was. And to see the clothes they actually wore!! They were so small!! Even the big ones were small.lol. I liked the music recording of the song...it originally didn't have words.
Martin Silva
My wife gave me a special birthday present by taking me here. I am a huge fan of The Andy Griffith Show and I enjoyed seeing all of the memorabilia and actual props from the show. You will definitely learn a lot of things about Andy Griffith that you maybe have never known. This is a must visit place!!
Edward DeToma
Very sweet walk down. memory lane. It was fun to learn more about his movies and records. Great info on the first known conjoined twins who settled in Mt Airy when they retired from public life.
Elizabeth Childs
We really loved this place. It was so wonderful to learn so many facts about TAGS. It was really great to see all the artifacts from the Andy Griffith show. This place is very educational and exciting.
Tracy Anderson
It's kind of small for a museum, but boy is it full of neat things from the Andy Griffith Show! Original costumes, set accessories, scripts... definitely a neat place for fans of the show to visit. They do charge admission, but it's not very expensive. If you grew up watching the Andy Griffith Show, the museum is worth the drive and the admission cost.
Aimee Lim
If you watch AGS then this is for you. The place was busy when we came. Dont come on a weekend during fall season. Parking problem. The museum has a fee. Staff are friendly. I got my souvenier magnet.
Backwoods Grading
Loved visiting here with my wife on a simple day trip! Highly recommend the guided tour through Andy’s childhood school! Museum was very cool and even bought shirts and the cookbook!! We will be back for sure!
Anita Russell
I grew up in Pinehurst,NC so The Andy Griffith show was an Awesome show for the entire family to enjoy watching together. So to visit this well put together Museum is just an Awesome experience for me. A must visit if you're in Mt.Airy, NC
Nancy Steadmon
Awesome walk down memory lane. The museum is a great asset to mount airy. It is well worth the money
Nancy Hodge
If you like The Andy Griffith show you will love this museum it's all about him and the show and madlock and any show that he's ever played in I really enjoyed myself more than what I thought I would
Travis Hudson
Was awesome to take a step back in time again. Those days are long gone, they just don't make them like that anymore! If you were a fan, it's a must see!
Elaine Baumann
Just adore this show so made a day trip just to see the area & absolutely loved it, so glad we came!
Larry H.
Wonderful collection of Andy Griffith memorabilia. Lots of personal mementos and props from his TV shows and movies.
Well layed out and very informative. Really brought back some wonderful memories from a simpler time.
Kevin Randolph
I always loved Andy and Barney. Lots of pictures and memorabilia. Brought back many good childhood memories.
Tim Trimble
I enjoyed the museum, but for the size, $3-5 would be more appropriate than $8. But a nice museum though
Charles Hudspeth
My grandson had been wanting to visit for a while and we finally made the trip, he was happy to see all the great history
T C
I'm not big on little museums....I mean I've never really sought them out....but how could I turn away the chance to visit AGs museum?! I'm not sure I could say I'm a "fan" but I've always had respect and I've watched NY share of Opie, Sheriff Taylor, and the gang. It's a small museum with all things Andy. Pretty neat to see and worth the 8.00 to go. Showed his childhood and the remarkable feat of a man from small town Mt Airy to the big lights of Hollywood-and an impression to last beyond.
Joseph Rivera
Cute lil throw back. I never knew Andy was so talented and his career spaned across all the entertainment platforms.
Stan Stinson
We had a great time learning more about America's favorite Sheriff, Andy Griffith. Any fan of Andy Griffith will love it.
Staria Morris
This is our fourth visit to the museum. It is not very big, but holds some special memorabilia for Andy's fans. The cost had increased this year. It was around $9.00 +tax for adults and $7.00 + tax for children under 12. They do offer a few gifts as souvenirs. You get a silver sheriff's sticker as admission ticket.
Bruce Thundercock
It's a really nice place to see some Andy Griffith memorabilia. Barney's salt and pepper suit was awesome to see in person and they have actual props that were used on the show. The museum is very clean and organized but it is a little small. You'll be in and out in under an hour (30 - 40 minutes is more than enough time). Definitely worth the trip !
Glenn Johnson
Great experience seeing all the history of TAGS. Well worth the trip from Alabama.
Bryan Kissig
It's cool , very small museum but it was interesting to see. The town was really cool! Fun to walk around. We lucked out there was a car show too!
Glenda Hunt - Wright
This is my favorite show in all the World and the experience was amazing! There was an aura present that exudes perfection. People were walking by whistling and singing and everyone was happy! The displays were exquisitely designed and it was a Good Day!
Doug Wallen
Great place to visit, especially if you grew up with "The Andy Griffith Show". The outside statue recreating the iconic opening moments is amazing. The museum is a bit cramped, but you can take all of the time you want to view the memorabilia. Fascinating look at Andy's career.
Whitney Honeycutt
We loved all the information & cool collectibles! We watch Andy all the time!
Sherri Barham
Andy does not disappoint...Very well done! The timeline of Andy’s life is very well communicated. Facility was handicap accessible with very clean restrooms. The staff was informative, personable and delightful. Highly recommend!
Mark D
It's okay to check out just to say you were there, and see some of the items on display but there is not much to see. I literally was through there in about 15 minutes, probably could have stayed longer but the people I were with I couldn't keep up with. The gift shop only had one kind of extra large t-shirt, all the other shirts they did not have that size. Also if you'd go on a Sunday the entire town is closed up so you may want to rethink that if you want to visit the Snappy Cafe and other stores. One time is enough but would not go again.
Yvonne Stephenson
It's a really cute museum. Probably my favorite museum visited so far..I highly recommend it.
Mommy2Malykai
I've been once before but, recently got to take my Andy Griffith-loving husband to the museum and tourist sights. A beloved little gem, even by our youngest three (5-8), who were able to interact and enjoy the exhibits. The museum staff is delightful, knowledgeable and always happy to chat about all things "Andy Griffith" and other local treasures!
Virginia Borgmann
Lots of information about Andy Griffith and the show very interesting.
Raven Charlotte
It is great visiting Andy Griffith's life story but I was a bit disappointed with the small size museum for a rather large entry fee. However, the town of Mt Airy was worth the visit. It was very much like visiting Mayberry.
Jamie Martell
Masks are required to get inside! Very cool museum, cute town. I recommend going during the festival or if you're passing thru. It's a much smaller museum then I thought, but 100% worth going and seeing! Loved andy griffith and matlock when I was a kid. It was rewarding to see the artifacts!
Jessie GeeeMfff
The guy up front was super friendly ❤️ I enjoyed the scenery, but only flaw I have is having to pay the same amount for a 5 year old, that isn't paying attention, or doesn't care about Andy lol other than that loved it.
Chelsea Bostic
It was informative and nostalgic. The building was clean and well lit but difficult to navigate and portions of it were inaccessible to those with wheelchair limitations. The rates were affordable. Unfortunately, part of the museum has been closed off due to Covid-19. They do offer masks for 5 dollars and you'll need it because there wasnt a capacity limit. Elbow to elbow with no social distancing measures enforced.
Cindy Scott
If you are a fan of the show you will love this place. They have a lot of items related to the show and a lot of pictures of Andy and other cast members. We really enjoyed going. The people are really nice and ever so often one of the cast members is at the Museum. Also in another building down the steps is more information and a room dedicated to the Siamese Twins Eng and Chang and more photos of cast members of the show. A great place to visit and we will be going back. We saw people taking a rise in an old Police Car.
Lynda Poe
Small but nicely laid out. Lots of fun memories in all of the memorabilia, movie clips and sound tracks. We enjoyed it.
Fred's Internet Island
Nice museum with lots of information, photos, videos, scripts, props, wardrobe items, etc. They also have a small gift shop. Out front is a statue of Andy and a young Ronnie Howard that is photo worthy.
Festus
Very beautiful place. More like a room though & not a museum (Referring to the size of the place). Great place for anyone young or old to come and check out Andy Griffith show memorabilia and there's some things in here from Andy's personal life as well and things from his music career also. They have interactive touch screens hanging on the wall also that you can learn new things from. Very clean museum with very clean bathrooms. I definitely recommend this place for anyone to take a trip in their mind to Mayberry.
Bob Lewis
Very nostalgic with a lot of information on Andy Griffin and cast members from Andy Griffin Show. Learned quite a bit about Andy that I did not know. Very interesting and talented gentleman. Tickets only $8 + tax for adults. Also Chang Siamese Twins museum next door, which was puzzling.
Shane & Melissa M
Nice experience! Love Andy Griffith. Tickets are reasonable. I gave it 4 stars because it was a little confusing where the different exhibits were. The staff is friendly.
Jenifer Carter
The museum was small but contained many interesting items. There is another building on the grounds that contains an exhibit about Siamese twins.
Hunter Wrenn
What a fantastic place!! If you're in the area, it is so worth stopping by. Even if you're not a huge fan of the show, just all the old stuff they have is so cool! I would even go again if i was in the area. The surrounding area is very nice too, great shops to go around in.
Scott Byerly
An amazing museum full of all things Andy Griffith! If you have the time (and it doesn’t take but an hour or so to get through everything) make sure to visit here. You won’t regret the time well spent!
DJ Luzzo
A must visit for any TV/ movie fan. The museum was small but they really packed in a lot of artifacts and information. Tickets were under $10. I missed out on Main Street. Definitely want to make a return trip.
H Chesher
This place was so very fun! We loved visiting this place with our family. It was very clean and organized, and the staff was friendly. It was easy to follow all the way through with the original artifacts from Andy Griffith himself and the show. We even got to see Betty Lynn who played Thelma Lou on The Andy Griffith Show. The museum seemed a little small, and we wish there was more information/artifacts on other cast members of the show itself. All in all we loved our time here and would love to come back to Mayberry for a visit once more.
Gary Griffith
It's a walk down memory lane. The exhibits are thoughtfully arranged and the descriptions informative. One can't help but get the warm and fuzzies going through. Of all the small towns we've visited in our travels this museum and the entire town exemplify the quaint, pleasant atmosphere of what we all wish life was truly like. An absolute must visit if you're ever in the area.
Jack McKeen
Awesome place to visit. If your a fan of the show. The ride and tour in a vintage police car and knowledge tour guide is well worth the price. A must stop for fans .
Carrie Anne
Love it! I highly suggest making this trip! So much interesting info on the show and cast members. Very ambient atmosphere. Great service from locals . I want to live in Mayberry. 💕😊 …
Karmen McGuire
Had a really good time here, people were very friendly, they have alot of things to see would highly advise to come here, they are even selling hometown made Christmas ornaments.
Misty Rogers
This was a fun, interactive little museum. We did the 45 minute tour for an addition $4 per person and found it enjoyable. I wasn't excited to visit originally. I was just going because my hubby wanted to. However, after visiting. I'm looking forward to watching some Andy movies when we get home!
Erica Jo Byers Pelton
If you were a big fan of the Andy Griffith show or the man himself, this place has tons of information about him and his growing up. There’s also lots of facts about the show and replicas of certain sets. For anyone who is not a huge fan, it is $8 per person to walk through and it only takes about 20 minutes total. The staff was very nice and it is a good way to complete a visit to Mt. Airy North Carolina.
Earl Cagle
A great place to look at the story of The Andy Griffith show, and Andy's life.
George Denning
Excellent tribute to one of North Carolina's(America's) icons. Learned so many new things about this amazing man at the museum. I highly recommend taking a relaxing vacation in Mt. Airy and visiting the museum.
Tommy Lunceford
Really enjoyed this place Andy Griffith mean so much to me and my childhood memories and still one of the most iconic TV shows ever ever made love it in the local shops are really nice for shopping experience highly recommend this for family trip one weekend!
Pork Chop
Very nice but Is very small.. you be in and out in just a few minutes..
Kathie Carter
So much fun and memories. I grew up watching the "Andy Griffith show " It brings you back to simpler times and the right values. For less then $10 it's a good investment. It's not large but I walked out enjoying a walk down memory lane. Plus a bonus is right next door with the Siam twins museum.
Sharon Dolby - Kelly
Great museum of Andy Griffiths career. Enjoyed it immensely. Highly recommend even if you are not a die hard fan, as the history of early television and movie making is interesting as well. Then take a walking tour of downtown "Mayberry". Visit Uncorked....really nice local place.
Logan Smith
It's a neat little place, I recommend going down main street though. If you like information about Andy Griffith definitely go to the museum.
Becky Rogers
Loved it ! We really loved the whole town . Bought this Chevy bench first thing lol thank you !
Ella Spence
Loved stopping in this little town! It was like stepping back into Mayberry!
Gregory Fox
Went a few years ago and they have done a complete facelift. It is so organized and informative. It's a great museum even for people that aren't TAGS fans.
Sante Boninsegna
Wonderful place. Very reasonable admission
Judy Moules
A great day trip. We visited the Andy Griffith museum, the gift shop and several downtown shops. This was a wonderful experience!!!
jack larrabee
Enjoyed the visit, had a great time. Bill , Floyd's the barber's son made Mayberry one of the trips best days. He was a great man. Fun for people who remembers The Andy Griffith show. Two thumbs up
jim catalfamo
it's not worth driving just to see the museum. its small but thats not why i gave them 3 stars. they need to make it more interesting. so if you need a filler on a day trip or want something you can spend an hour. then you may wanted to stop here.
D J
We had A great time there while traveling from ohio to South Carolina. Actually spent more time than we anticipated and well worth all of it. The lady working the front was polite, friendly and very knowledgeable. Would recommend adding it as a stop if traveling. Also have squad car tour that we unfortunately did not do. Be sure to book the car a day in advance. Great stop to relax and learn a few things when passing through. If you are the diehard fan the house Andy grew up in is a bed and breakfast
S T P Pearson
If you are a fan of Andy Griffith, particularly a fan of the Andy Griffith Show, I recommend this place. There are plenty of pictures and memorabilia from when Andy was a little boy all the way up to the era past Matlock. They have some of the actual clothes that the cast members wore while making the show (including Otis Campbell's well worn hat and jacket).
If you don't know who Andy Griffith was, or you hated his TV shows, I recommend going elsewhere, so you don't waste your time and money. The nearby downtown area has lots of tourist trap amenities (e.g., candy, T-shirts, goofy hats, that knickknack you buy because you think it's genius when you bought it, but you wonder why you wasted money on it ten years later when you are cleaning out your sock drawer because you are moving, so you donate it to a charity, etc.), if you like that sort of thing.
Regina L
Wow, it was great to see the accomplishments of their local star Andy Griffin. We enjoyed the museum and learned more about Andy. We also liked the other exhibits which included the Siamese twins which we were not aware of.
Gordon Rayner
Does not take long to see; however, it is amazing for any Mayberry fan. I still watch Andy Griffith show almost every day and it kinda brings you closer to the show. Too bad gift shop was not bigger. I would visit again.
Julius Edwards (Jules)
We decide to do a day trip to My. Airy to visit the Andy Griffith Museum. What a sweet town they are so proud of the home town Andy. We ate lunch at Walter's Soda Shop. Treated ourselves to a cheeseburger and hotdog. Both were delicious. The museum does an excellent job giving you a sense of the history and contribution Andy Griffith had on all of us growing up. When you finish the tour stroll around Main Street and you just might see Andy's patrol car ride by. The folks in town are supper friendly. Don't forget to stop by Floyd's Barbershop for a shave and haircut.
Charles Jenkin
A must go- to, for any fan of Andy Griffith and the Andy Griffith show. Great memorabilia, authentic articles. Very well displayed.
Bill Powell
If you are a fan of the show , this is a can't miss. It's very small but chocked full of memorabilia and film clips from Andy Griffiths career. It's quaint, quick, and well worth it.
Sean Holland
A charming small, very small museum, devoted to Andy Griffith and Mayberry. If you like either it is worthwhile to visit, if you like both it is a must visit place. Much fascinating memorabilia from Griffith's life and from the cast of the Andy Griffith Show and it's cast.
Garry Sinchak
If you are a fan of the Andy Griffith show you will enjoy the museum. It takes about an hour and it is not real big but it is extremely satisfying. We also took the squad car tour and enjoyed it very much.yhid was a great way to spend a day in this small town
Bryan Hammons
If you're an Andy Griffith fan it's well worth the $8 admission fee. The employee up front was very friendly and informative, they have plenty of exhibits and several interactive videos.
TheBwsymons
Nice, interesting, but small. Best to go in good weather when you can walk in the town
Kim Bridges
Great visit at the museum. We enjoyed the information that was shared about Andy’s life. Great stop if you enjoy The Andy Griffith show.
Matthew Kirby
This is quite possibly the nicest little detour we have taken. On our way to our vacation spot, we decided to visit this town and take in the sites of where the Andy Griffith show was based off of and it did not disappoint. A lot of original memorabilia on display which brings the show to life. I did not get to watch a lot of this show as I grew up but this town makes me want to check it out.
We also visited the little replicas of Wally’s service station, Emmets fix it shop and the replica of the jail and courthouse just miles from the museum.
It’s well worth the drive to see this gem. Definitely recommend!
Crystal Lefler
Love Andy but museum is very tiny for the price of admission. Only one room but still pretty cool if your an Mayberry fan.
Shelby Eschman
Super cool! Learned about Andy Griffith and how Mayberry was modeled after his hometown of Mt. Airy. Lots of memorbiala from sets and Andys personal life. Theres also an exhibit about Chang and Eng Bunker, Siamese twins who settled there.
Robert Cerquoz
Very informative information about his life and times while living in Mt Airy. Also there was a museum for the lady who was Barmeys girl friend. But most people missed because it was not noticed on a lower level outside.
David Hale 865
If you are a fan of Andy Griffith well then you will enjoy this place. It isn't really a big place but it is worth seeing.
Rick Lester
It was very interesting. I learned things about Andy Griffith than I didn't know. Our guide was very nice and knowledgeable
Gerald Sanders Sr.
My wife and I are from Mobile, Alabama this is a must see we a big Andy Griffith fans and we loved it. We had a great Mayberry experience
Will Allphin
Cool place but a little bit overpriced, but it's a must see if you're a fan... #nipitinthebud
Kathryn Wesserling
Not a regular vacation activity for me, but I enjoyed it. The museum is loaded with memorabilia, pictures, and personal memories. It covered all of his professional life in addition to the Mayberry stories. It struck me how talented all the actors were, not just the main ones. Each person made their own character so believe and real, that it took just seeing an exhibited costume to remember episodes. We knew these people.
Perry Abel
Small but gives you alot of information about Andy and his history. You also get access to 2 other historical sites in Mount Airy.
dan johnson
Came across this small town looking for a place to sleep for the night while traveling. Turns out we spent a good portion of the next day here learning about the life of Andy Griffith. The museum is very educational filled with great exhibits. The lady at the front desk is very helpful polite and knowledgeable. Highly recommend this stop if you're a fan of Andy Griffith.
Clayt Newsome
Small but has lots of pictures and show memorabilia.
Rhonda West
An absolutely wonderful experience! Go and be ready to take your time and read and watch all the videos! It is a beautiful tribute to a fantastic and dear man!
Ann Marie Ward
What a great collection of memories, memorabilia and all things Andy Griffith. Located in beautiful Mt. Airy, NC.
Christy Bowling
Fun and informative. Andy and the gang are our go to for relaxing wholesome television. Enjoyed our visit and learning more about Andy's earlier career, music, and story telling. And of course Matlock and his cameo with Brad Paisley.
Dan Hiland
For those of us that grew up with Andy on TV is really cool to see in person articles we seen back in the day. Nice employees too.
Stuart Weisberg
Nicely laid out nostalgic journey. Artifacts and video bring a smile to those who watched the various Andy Griffith shows and films.
caroline nelson
I loved this town! Everyone was so nice. It was fun going to the shops and looking at the antiques. I enjoyed the Andy Griffith museum. Loved the show! There also was a museum on the Siamese twins that was next door and it was very interesting.
Sani Free
I enjoyed the downstairs area I didn't want to pay for the museum but I still had a great time
Stephen Cook
Cool little museum! A must stop if you're interested in Andy Griffith and Mayberry!
Benjamin “Ben” Taylor
Awesome town to visit. Plenty to do a and see.
Desiree Holz
Such a cool place! I grew up watching Andy Griffith and loved being able to be there during Mayberry Days.
Sandy B
If you're a fan of Andy Griffith it's worth stopping. Entry fee was less than $9 per person. The statue of Andy and Opie is well done. We were glad we stopped.
Brian Franklin
I loved the show so of course I would love the museum. I wish that there were a "Mr. Ed" museum too.
Jeff Baker
Good museum that highlights the life of Andy Griffith.
Mark Rinehart
If you are an Andy Griffith show fan, this is worth the visit. Some reviewers said it was only an Andy museum, but that’s not entirely accurate. A lot of memorabilia. Really glad I went. And the statue out front really looks like Andy.
Julie Wallace
Great place full of memorabilia from Andy Griffith, Matlock, and Don Knotts.
Barbara Holtze
What fun seeing all the memorabilia for one of my favorite shows
Sally A Davis
It was great. So much stuff to see. Interesting things I did not realize. Highly recommend. The place that it is located is beautiful.
Deborah Baird
Quaint little museum. It houses artifact's from the show Andy Griffith. Very well presented. Also in the basement are artifact's from the lives of the Siamese twins who moved there and lived.
Rochelle Garza
If you loved the show you'll love this! Lots of pics & info & pieces from the show. Definitely a tourist spot. Some of the museum was closed for renovations but still has a lot of photo opportunities.
Paul Isenhour
The museum was nice, but it was small. Good history of Andy Griffin, learned a lot. Good place to visit.
Samuel Borrelli
Very interested museum with an large collection of items mostly from the Andy Griffin Show. Clothing and items of interest are displayed nicely in showcases. Many items from his personal life are featured along with many interesting photos.
Jessica Dunlap
My kids and I visit the museum a couple times a year. It never gets old and new things are added often.
Amber Weekley
My husband & I enjoyed it. There wasn't much to engage the kids. Loved driving around town looking at the old cars.
Kellie Brock
Very fun and interesting
Sandra Blanchette
In depth Andy. Lots of memorabilia from his entire career. Also other people from the area like Betty Lynn and Chang and End Bunker. The people who work here really seem to love their jobs.
Michelle Gates
So many memories and such a great collection. I loved the handwritten notes from Andy with items he donated.
Renee Grimes
This place was awesome, we will definitely be going back.
Misty Specht
It was very interesting, what really surprised us all was in the other part of the museum. I don't want to give anything away but really you should go and check this place out
luke penniman
Awesome little museum that will take you back in time. Wonderful staff.
Hans Garcia
Took us less than 45 minutes to walk through all the exhibits. Lots of props and costumes from the TV show. Admission also includes the Historic Earle Theater on Main St.
Mark Kemper
This museum itself was well done. For me, the $8+ admission fee was more than worth it. But I think it is a much better experience if the show has some nostalgic meaning for the patron, as was the case for me. The displays document Andy's life nicely, but the focus is on the show. Andy's sheriff uniform is displayed, as are the jailhouse keys. My favorite was the re-creation of the courthouse desk to look just like the show set. Some of the props in that display were original like the stick telephone and Deputy Fife's chair (which has since been bronzed), which made it all the better. But there are a few displays that go beyond the show. There is a display about Matlock, Andy's other successful but less iconic and often forgotten series. There are also displays about Andy's early life, early career and his music and recording ventures. In the annex is a display about Betty Lynn, who played Thelma Lou on the show and who had a special tie to Mt. Airy. There were also displays documenting the lives of Eng and Chang Bunker, the conjoined twins who gave rise to the term "Siamese Twins". They had ties to the Mt. Airy area.
I would highly recommend this museum for anyone who has fond memories of the Andy Griffith Show or who is an Andy Griffith fan in general. Even if not, it offers a nice peek into Americana and the 1960s American experience. Make a stop here and spend the day in Mt. Airy. It's worth the time.
April L Chastain
Small area but interesting
Bob Hamernick
Was a very interesting experience. If you love Andy Griffin you'll enjoy this museum
Kelly Boggs
It was great. We had a great time with the family getting to see "Mayberry" again. I use to watch the Andy Griffith Show every day. It was fun.
Paul
The Andy Griffith Museum and the entire town do such a great job of keeping and recreating and continuously breathing life into the Andy Griffith Show and its beloved characters. And the town has some iconic characters of its own. The museum and this entire town do so much for North Carolina that I highly recommend that you support Mount Airy, the museum, The shoppes, the restaurants and the surrounding communities and North Carolina in general. On your way into Mount Airy and during your visit you will discover that even if you've never seen an Andy Griffith episode, or herd of Andy Griffith you will love the town and all the surrounding communities anyway. And once you learn of the wonderful iconic man Andy Griffith and the beautifully charming and funny show I think you will become a fan of it as well.
Timmy Griffin
Me and my wife went July the 5th and spent the day in Mayberry it was great. I'm a big Andy Griffith fan. Just need a little more time to see everything. Will be planning another trip soon and staying over. The Museum the Tour in the Police Car and the Food at Snappy Diner was absolutely great. 👍👍👍👍👍 …
Troy Greene
If you go make sure you do the guided tour..100% worth the extra $4.00. Surry arts council nailed it.
Kimberley Murphy
Just wonderful. Loved visiting My Airy. People are so friendly.
Tom Davenport
The museum is small but it has a lot of cool artifacts from Andy’s showed and movies.
Jubal Music
Smaller than expected but interesting. The digital exhibits were very nice.
andrew barrett Worland
My Graceland. Finally after 40 years have made it to the Mecca of southern charm, philosophy of the open heart and what it means to be accountable. Thank you Andy and the staff of dedicated devotees to this original man who had the courage to be completely honest with himself and show the world what a southern gentleman is. Go to this museum and celebrate a phenomenon.
Jean Cloyd-Temple
Had a great time something I always wanted to do love it
Gary
Great museum for an iconic tv actor with very informative museum and very cool photo op with Andy and Opie statues.
Rachel Elkins
$8/person for 1 room.
If there's a lot of people in the museum room it can take a bit to go from one display to the next.
The good:
You can pay the entrance fee by card.
There is 1 bench in the entrance room & 2 bathrooms & water fountain & AC
There is a soda vending machine at the other building
If you take the time to view the pics of others reviews that's the whole museum.
You can then exit the building, go down a path & there's 2 rooms in a different building that isn't Andy Griffith related. It was VERY humid in this building.
Brandy Manley
We loved it! Went for my birthday and had a great time
Sonya Miller
I had a lot of fun reminiscing and the town of Mt Airy is just beautiful.

Cool place, small but expanding I'm told. They had some cool artifacts. I learned some things about a few characters from the Andy Griffith Show. I would say on average an hour is about right but you could certainly stay longer.
Ted Kidwell
We had good time this a great place for the hole family we. Had a good time so will you.
Clint Blunt
This is an amazing museum for an American icon. The gift store could be bigger because I don't think they are prepared for how popular the place is.
Will Stanley
If you're a fan of Andy Griffith or the show, this is a must see! The statue is very well done and is right on the walk to the museum door.
hot rods by Smitty

Tony and I visited the Museum the Saturday afternoon we visited Mt Airy, NC. It was $8. per person to get in to see all of his items and photos from his life. It's a small museum so you need to be a real fan, because it is very small and takes about 20 minutes to see it all. The doors to the courthouse and his desk are there. One of his uniforms and other tokens from the show and his home life growing up in Mt Airy, NC.
There is a parking lot that is free to park
brian baumgarten

I was really looking forward to the Andy Griffith museum but it was a let down. Only the one floor for the museum and one case for his role in Matlock.
SCOTT BELLS
Great place to revisit good memories a must go
Debby Gonzalez
Kind of small for the price but very interesting if you're a fan.
R “Bailey” K
There is plenty of parking and its easy to find.
The Andy Griffith Museum was OK. The staff wasn't as pleasant as I'd expect. The museum had some nice artifacts in addition to the Thelma Lou and Siamese twin displays in the next building.
Chad Bright
Really amazing museum about the life and career of one of NC's most famous people. Great exhibits and displays of Andy Griffith's life and accomplishments. The entrance doors to the Sheriff's office and Andy's desk are really neat, and provide great photo opportunities. The bronze statue of Andy and Opie in front of the museum are also a great place to get a family photo for all "Andy Griffith Show" fans!
Beverly Beadles
What a fun place to visit. Enjoyed the displays, videos, and recordings.
rebecca lester
I love watching Andy Griffith show and it was so neat to be able to see items from his career. A must do for anyone.
Blu Walsh
There is more to Andy than Mayberry. Theater, comedy, singer actor and home towner.
Tim Salsgiver
Small museum cost under $9 to get in. Small but has all the right items. More importantly the memories of the show is priceless. Highly recommend going. Take about an hour to go through. Pictures by the statue is a must.
Emory Craft

This is very small. It is great for people like me that don't want to be there all day!
Jerry Jackson Jr
I love the museum...A lot of good things to see. Love the Betty Lynn tribute!
Michelle Miller
If you love the andy Griffith show you have to stop in and visit this museum and visit the locals who are so friendly and are so knowledgeable about most of the actors in the careers like they grew up with them. Got to meet betty lynn(thelma lou) who comes out the 3rd friday of every month for pictures and autographs.
Edward Cotton
8$ to get in. Make sure u have enough time to enjoy.
Kerri
If you loved the Andy Griffith Show growing up you will enjoy the museum. Lots of facts and interesting reads.
elviscilla2
This is an excellent museum displaying artifacts on the life and times of the Andy Griffith and the TV show the Andy Griffith show. I loved this museum as much as I love watching the show. There’s everything in here regarding from the beginning of Andy Griffith’s childhood up until his final days. The museum is well laid out, it’s not big but it’s full of memorabilia relating to Andy Griffith. Next-door has a smaller museum with some stuff of the Siamese Twins Chang and Eng Bunker and of Betty Lynn aka Thelma Lou. Highly recommend checking out this museum.
Andrea Reynolds
We had such a great time touring the museum. It was a ladies get away and this was our first stop. Learned so much about good 'ol Andy.
Bob Price
Could have been better..parts were closed off.. no discounts
Linda Hines
The museum was great! Lots of interesting things from the show, clothing, office set up. Clips from Andy's movies. Very enjoyable

Wendy Rich
Lots of Andy Griffith memorabilia. Very friendly staff.
Kathy Wood
Lots of detailed exhibits in a small museum. Very enjoyable.
Laurel Hendrickson
We really enjoyed the place and seeing things “in color” but remembering it in black & white. Barney’s salt abs pepper tweed suit was something I knew whose it was right away. We learned things too. They also have a section in a different building on Eng & Chang Bunker and Betty Lee. The story on the Bunkers was very informative and interesting.
Kyle Berry
We were absolutely blown away at the amount and quality of authentic artifacts from Andy Griffith's life and career. I went back to the beginning and walked back through so many times.
Tom Brannan
So much more to Andy Griffith than Mayberry. Great museum!!!
Donna Reed
Such a calming came over me just being in this peaceful town full of friendly folks
Layne Burroughs
Nice collection of Andy memorabilia including school yearbooks, show scripts, and audio recordings.
Ellen Richardson
Not huge area, but lots of memorabilia and information. Well worth visiting.
Tracey Lennon
Lots of memories there!!! Loved it...
Rocky Grim
We just went to the little town but it is something to say and I would go back when I have more time to spend there and get there earlier. We did it there at the place that's a diner that used to be the pharmacy and the show and they do have great burgers I would have been happier with some homemade french fries with the peels on them instead of Frozen
Desiree Broadwell
The town is very friendly, Museum is so cool and very interesting. Make sure you take the squad car experience as well. Any questions you have...ask!! This is our second time to the town and museum. The price is PERFECT, you can’t beat $6.00 OR $8.00 for video. We stayed at Andy Griffith childhood home and it was quite the experience!! Waking up having coffee and watching all the DVD seasons .. feels like he is right there with you at heart.. love Mt. Airy
Robert Holden
Just and incredible visit and worth the time and the money. We are big Andy Griffith Show fans and we were not disappointed!! If you’re in the area, make sure to stop!! You won’t be disappointed
Jeffrey Mcwhorter
Just remember if going it's not about the show its about Andy Griffith and you see one suite from Don Knott's and the town trunk other than that you see noting else about the other stars. Betty Lou has her own museum that's very good and enjoyed it did not know what all she did beautiful woman and patriotic a must check out. Down town was very crowded could not find parking space and if looking for refrigerator magnets go look around don't buy at museum way over priced. Great Chinese restaurant as well wonderful buffet under $10. Enjoy this is my sister
Chris Long
Definitely stop here if you are in the area. Adults are just over 8 dollars and kids are just over 6. It's not a huge museum but it is packed with stuff about Andy's life and the different shows, and ventures he was involved in. A couple of highlights for me were the original rocking chair from his boyhood home that his mother would rock him in, his year book from school showing he was the president of the Glee club, and his platinum record. You also get admission into the conjoined twins gallery, which is also very interesting. Be sure to take the picture with the statue out front. The man at the front counter was wonderful and explained everything. There is a small gift shop near the entrance with tshirts, ornaments, DVDs and the like.
Kerri West
Great memories of the TV shows I grew up watching!
Lester mac
Amazing. Small but worth the stop
Major 4X4
Amazing I highly recommend it best trip. Service was good the people there was nice ask around great place
Steve A Northcutt
The gentleman working the front counter was super nice. Just not a lot to see in the museum. Clean facility. In my opinion, it will be a place that I'm glad I went but would not have to go back.

Roy Munsey, CSHP, OSHP
That was great. I loved the show and this was great. We look forward to seeing it again.
Allan Zacher
I really love this place, it makes me want to watch all of the Andy Griffith series. Matlock too
Jim Stephenson
I really enjoy Andy Griffith and his body of work. The museum is definitely interesting and worth while on its own for the price, however i would advise you to make sure you bring a mask. I had to pay $4.00 per mask for masks that walmart sells in discount isle for .99 cents. Not cool guys not cool :(
Hazel Lavigne
Loved going here. Still watch reruns daily
Kathryn Bloodworth
Very friendly staff. On scheduled days you can meet Thelma Lou! Nice history of Andy Griffith.
Wicket Cricket
Lots of interesting information for fans of the show. Short tour so wait your turn (Andy is popular) and you'll discover a lot of cool facts. Overall a must stop in Mt Airy.
Merri Bass
Fun to see Griffith's memorabilia. Very small facility and hard to navigate with so many visitors. Would have been much better with am audio tour or interactive exhibits.
Robbie Deaton
While we enjoyed seeing the many authentic items from the Andy Griffith show to include scripts, clothing, photographs and other items, overall the experience was average. We thought the museum was small and needed much more considering the over 8 dollars a person charge to enter the museum. More effort to recreate a real life experience of being on the set such as being able to visit a replica of the Mayberry jail would have added to the experience. We realize that none of the episodes were filmed in Mt. Airy and the museum had to rely on donations by Andy Griffith himself, the museum needed to tell a story about Andy's time in Mt Airy, how he started and developed the show and how it ended. This could have been accomplished by all ticket holders watching a prepared video in a theatre or with larger story telling readable wall boards. The museum needs to feel organized in a way that makes sense versus just a hodge podge of some items and a TV showing an episode of the show. We left feeling like we didn't really know anything more about his life than before we visited. We love the Andy Griffith show, but this museum needs someone with experience in creating a better experience and feel to it or the price should be lower. However, the way the story of the simese twins was told was excellent.
Phil Delcambre
Amazing little museum. It was fun remembering the good shows with these amazing actors.
Josh Cross
Pretty nice place. Everyone should go check it out.
Phillip Adams

Great museum and reflection on the life of an amazing actor
Kaye stott
It was SO much fun reliving the old days. Andy Griffith was a program that was always watched growing up. I highly recommend it to all the "older folks" and take your grandchildren and let them see "good, clean humor". Afterwards visit downtown and go back in time.👍👍👍👍👍 …
Michael G
A great trip for any family. Plenty of food and shopping.
Robert Derek Holden
Cool to visit while your in Mount Airy
Marilyn Womack
Wonderful place to visit. Downtown shops a little pricey but great experience.
Mr. Kelly Covelli
Delightful place with a lot of memorabilia. A must do when visiting Mount Airy (Mayberry).
Frank Koelling
Enforce patrons to wear or buy a mask, but the employees wear them on their chin. Makes a lot of sense.
j paulley
We absolutely loved the Andy Griffith Museum. It was the main reason we came to visit Mt Airy. The props and wardrobe were definitely worth the admission price. If you ever come to Mt Airy, make sure to visit the museum. You won’t regret it.
William Shorter
Awesome memorabilia.. very thorough collection..and reasonable admission to.. like 8 or 9 dollars
.
TerryLynn Melody
Nice afternoon excursion if you're a fan.
Christina Rowe
Loved watching the show as a kid and with my kids now. This is a smaller museum, however take the time to read about everything display. The price was very reasonable. Afterwards, head to Main Street! It was like stepping back in time!
Jack Hagewood
Great time. Very glad we visited.
Allen Riley
Nice way to relive memories of a great actor and TV show
Ebony Barr
This museum was much better than I expected. I grew up watching this show with my family and so did my husband. We thoroughly enjoyed the museum. Its not to expensive for entry fee (8.00). Children have a different rate. We went on a Sunday and it was not too crowded. Everything in the town is geared towards the Andy Griffith show which is really interesting as well. If you or anyone in your family are fans of the show its definitely worth the trip.
Brenda Morris
This is a great place to visit. Make sure you take in the other sites around town.
Robin
Experienced the Playhouse for the 1st time. Clean, felt refreshed, quant, which makes every seat a good seat. My disappointment was with the speaker before the show. I was with school age children (5th grade to be exact) that have been wearing makes for almost 2 years, which is sad enough in itself. When the lady speaker stood on stage to prepare everyone that the show was about to begin, she HATEFULLY (even in a louder tone), told the children to keep their masks up (then even more hateful said →) so OUR actors don't get YOUR GERMS!!! ~ First off, we were all squeezed into every seat (not distanced) and the actors were on stage, not around us. I'm not saying that I disagree with the children keeping their masks up, but she spoke as if they didn't matter and that they are "dirty" and the spreaders. (Which, btw, our schools haven't had breakouts within the school buildings.) This was very inappropriate!!! If the Playhouse is so worried that any visitor is going to make an actor sick, then why "risk it" and act as if they're the only healthy/clean ones?
Brittany Robinson
I loved it 🥰 went with my boyfriend had a blast …
Lorna W
It was very informative. Small, but it is about just one man. Bronze statue is very sentimental, very sweet. Nice little visit.
Tom Bechtel
Don't blink or you'll miss it. Some interesting tidbits on how the show represented Mt. Aires.
Beth Johnson
It was worth going in once, It's somewhat underwhelming for the price you pay
Trey Maestas
We had a blast remembering the show! Loved it!
David B
A very nice museum. Lots of artifacts from the show. Unusual facts. Great photo ops for the whole family.
Jean Thurman
Andy Griffith Museum
Mount Airy, NC
Met Betty Lynn (Thelma Lou)
Mike Mahorney
Great place, take a walk back in time.
Kenny Latimore
Enjoyed our visit to the museum. It is basically 1 large room that is put together well. There's also another smaller room in another building that honors Betty Lynn ( Thelma Lou of the Andy Griffith show ) My only complaint is the price. $ 8,56 per person. For what they had, I thought it was overpriced.
terri walker
Awesome and informative place to visit!! Stepping back in time to one of the most watched tv shows. They have Andy's memorabilia from his time on other movies, Matlock and recording artist days!! A must see if you're in Mt Airy!!
Warren Eck
I was fortunate to grow up with Andy on TV. This museum was a great place to catch up on memories and on the background story to his shows and movies. If you made it this far to visit Mount Airy, do stroll over here and make the museum part of your trip!
Joe Blair
Absolutely perfect stop on our way home from vacation. WHO DEY!!!
Victoria Williford
It was a great little display. It did not take long which is great if you have kids as they do not get bored and it is a great time for those that grew up watching Andy shows. The price is DEFINITELY reflective to what you get. Worth your time and money.
Melisa Avalos
It was cute and loved seeing the memorabilia
Kevin White
My 4th visit. Every tome family or friends come to visit we recommend checking out the museum and town of Mayberry. Always a pleasure to show them around.
Monica Bonds
We made a spur of the moment visit to Mayberry for our Anniversary. We were impressed by the collection of items this museum had and the wealth of information we learned about Mr. Griffith. Be sure to stroll thru town afterwards and enjoy his home town. We had a wonderful day.
Stephen Beatty
We spent a very nice afternoon. Make sure you have plenty of time go and read about the siamese twins. It's included in the tour.
Samantha McClaskey
Really nice Museum, but it wasn't as big as I thought it would be.
Rockets Rock

Rich Stylinski
Smaller than expected, accidentally for garage and court house
T L Muhammad
Great museum of his life and greatest accomplishments.
Gary nolan
Drove down from Pittsburgh definitely worth the ride had a great time
John Hayduke
Highly recommend taking a making a day of it. Most of the exhibits were within walking distance of each other. Only two were where you had to drive to see them, like Andy's homestead. Great museum with so many memories. I would go back again in a heartbeat. It is small but packed with memories. Please take the time to stay near Pilot Mountain and visit the town of Mayberry.
Alyson Kap
Nice museum, very reasonably priced.
jim43fan
The museum is nice with laid out exhibits, however there is not much to see or do.
Kappu Srivats
Very interesting to see their collection! Awesome museum, I was transported to the 1960s of Andy Griffith days!
Marvin McFadden
It was a great experience would love to go see it again one of my all-time favorites
Kimberly Seymour
We had an awesome time reminiscing and looking at all the great exhibits. Reasonably priced and the staff was great. Seeing so much history was a very nice birthday gift for my hubby. Grew up watching and we were really happy
Bobby Baker
They weren't doing anything special when I was there. It's really cool if you're a hardcore Andy Griffith fan, may I have one exhibit showing Matlock memorabilia. All in all it's a decent place to stop. It was pretty much pouring down raining the whole time so I really didn't get to walk around and enjoy the area but not the worst Museum I've been to, but definitely not the best.
Margaret Wilson
I have been wanting to spend a few days in My. Airy for years and I am glad I finally got to go.
Susie Mcclellan

Hours and hours of information and pictures to keep you wanting more. It makes you feel like you are walking with Andy throughout his life.

Very awesome to see the show in a town where Andy grew up. The old show thought so.e good family life lessons and showed how we should react to lifes is and downs
Great admission price and always nice to see the artifacts from that era and show. Glad to have such historic places to see and visit.
mike bryant

David W Calhoun
Was totally mesmerized by the life lived by Andy Griffith who was born here. The only person I've seen bigger than this was Dolly Parton and that was quite impressive at Pigeon Forge. Andy Griffith has done quite a bit putting Mount Airy on the United States block. There's never been a program that is so Americana as The Andy Griffith Show. It's like a part of humanity in the south. I actually grew up in a outskirt community of North Carolina that reminds me of Mount Airy. And that was Salisbury North Carolina back in the day. I think everybody in North Carolina can identify with this Museum. We have so many great small towns in North Carolina. Such towns are like Banner Elk,Lexington,Linwood,Marion,Mount Ulla,Troutman,Denton,Oxford,Old Fort, Rockwell,Faith,Swansboro,Taylorsville, Graham,Faith,King,Elon, Boone just to name à few. So a lot of traditional North Carolina people can really relate to this wonderful Museum. And for those who grew up in more metropolitan areas they can get a taste of a more simpler time in American history. Thank you Andy Griffith. May you seek your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ daily. God be with you always.
Mrs. Frankenstein
We have been to this museum numerous times, and love it more every time we go! The lady working the desk was very informative and kind. It is $8 to get in but if you truly are a fan you won't mind paying that much. For the people who say they walked through in 5 minutes didn't really take everything in. Take your time and read and look at everything bc there's a lot of little things you might miss!! It is a small space, however, it's filled with clothing from almost all of the original cast. It has plenty of photos and memoribilia from the show. It also has items from Matlock. Andy's life is well detailed. The gift shop is slightly expensive even though it is a tourist town. The Siamese Twins exhibit didn't interest me so we didn't go see that. Meeting Thelma Lou is also worth every penny. Enjoy downtown Mt. Airy lots of shops and great places to eat!
Lynn Thomas
The Andy Griffith Museum
We made our way over to "The Andy Griffith Museum."
Emmett Forrest is the founder of "The Andy Griffith Museum."
Mr. Forrest, Andy Griffith's life-long friend, began collecting "All things Andy Griffith" a long time ago.
Whenever Andy would come across something that he thought his friend could use for his collection, he would send it to him.
If you've visited The Andy Griffith Museum in years past, you might want to visit it again. It is significantly updated.
It now has State of the art improvements.
Many TVs, touchscreens, and Andy's music recordings can get found in the museum.
The tour starts with Andy Griffith's early days and goes all the way through his life in the spotlight.
I thought I knew everything about Andy Griffith, but there were many things I did not know.
It is well worth the money.
It was around 9 dollars for an adult and even cheaper for children.
Be prepared to spend over an hour at the museum. We spent over two hours.
I took over two hundred and fifty pictures. They do not do it justice, though—Some things you have to see for yourself.
If you are ever in Mt. Airy, NC., a trip to "The Andy Griffith Museum" is a must.
(I did get permission to take photos while in the museum)
PATRICAe

Great for all ages.
Okie Doke
Great museum with helpful staff.
G J
Family friendly. An absolute ride back years ago. I loved going back in time. It was smaller than I thought, the size of 2 average rooms but it was filled with so many memories and things that I never knew about Andy Griffin.
Robbie Boswell
Nice place to stop in and say hello to the past. The museum is a bit small, but of you're around please stop by.
Sherry Kolyno
The museum is pretty small and doesn't take very long to go through, but it is layed out well. Learned a few things about Andy.
The twin exhibit was really interesting to me. I didn't know much about them so I learned a lot.
william warren
Very cool experience !!
Well work the trip !!
Clark Zealand
It seems like some reviewers complain about the entrance fee however, I think that in today’s world, you have to consider how your dollars will be used. In the case of the Andy Griffith Museum, the entry fee supports the operation of a place curating one of the few truly wholesome, family TV shows ever made (historically contextual). I wish the museum could be larger but inside you will find several great treasures from the history of the TV show as well as many other incredible accomplishments by Andy Griffith that few know about. If you take your time perusing the museum and really consider what you are supporting, the entry fee is not exorbitant. The staff do a great job and are very accommodating. In addition, you gain admission to the exhibit on the Siamese Twins which, besides initially seeming strangely out of place, is fascinating, disturbing and fitting, once you read the details about the twins’ lives. Once done, make sure to take time to patronize the other local Andy Griffith-related (and other) sites; tourism is so important to these small towns! In sum, definitely a great place to bring families as well. Overall, this is a great place and I strongly recommend taking the time to visit!

Great museum. I didn't look up from the walls until I was halfway around and noticed that it wasn't even that big of a facility. The stuff is packed in so it still took a while to see everything. Lots of cool facts about the show and the man. Glad someone had the forethought to gather so many pieces. Took me a while to get through it all. Any Andy Griffith fan will be sure to enjoy it.
Quartermiler
Absolutely wonderful, like going back in time to see all of the wonderful cast of the Andy Griffith show. We went durning Mayberry Days, the town was packed and those who dressed up to play their prospective parts didn't disappoint.
Beth Breininger
Very interesting. I love Andy Griffith. The history was very interesting. The photo history was amazing. And the family ties. Great main streets, with restaurants and shops.
steve rorabaw
Neat place, not very large. Inexpensive
jim schafer
Fantastic tiny gem to honor Andy Griffith and his career!
Criss
We had 2 kids under 13 with us and they enjoyed the museum as much as the adults.
Spike Hopkins
It's pretty small but has some very neat memorabilia. When we went masks or mandatory. There's a small fee to get in.
Scott Harleman
The museum is quite small, but admission includes displays about cast members from The Andy Griffith Show, plus interesting Surrey County history. Big fans of Andy Griffith and of the show could easily spend a couple of hours taking in the information provided.
Besides the museum, much of Mt. Airy (including downtown) is "Andy Griffith Show" themed. Definitely eat at The Snappy Lunch. It doesn't look like much but it is a real bargain.
Thomas Honeck
It was small and sweet, go if you are a fan
Derek Pitman
Fans of the show will love the museum
Seth Skinner
Very nice museum. We had no idea Andy had been in that many movies. Museum was smaller than we imagined but they let you into the other 2 exhibits for free. So overall it was a good experience.
vickie ashwell
I thought the price was a bit high for the size of the Museum and the exhibits. Also the lady at the ticket counter was quite rude when we asked if they offered any discounts. "We have the price set to a reasonable amount so you don't need a discount".
Michael Porter
The staff kept this from being a 5. I call it the Covid-19 Crankiness. Simply asked if there was a veteran or senior citizen discount available as a few museums offer. Rudely told no. The exhibits are fun and includes an exhibit on the siamese twins and the actress who portayed Thelma Lou.
Joe Watson
Awesome if you loved the show and the man.
joehammer75
The museum was very nice and had a lot of original items from the show, from Andys sheriff's uniform shirt to Barneys suits. Front desk worker was very friendly. Admission was $8 per person and would be a visit worth making if in the area.
Rebekah Burgess
The Andy Griffith Show has and always will be my favorite show! So visiting the museum was a huge bucket list item for me! Very emotional. Tons of items from the show and lots of information on the lives of the characters. While small, anyone who loves the show will be very impressed by what was saved. Andy in real life preserved so much! I was super emotional!
Chris Moore
Not a whole lot of original items from the show, but still worth a visit. Being a mask or else you will have to purchase one with your admission.
Sarah Usher
Would have gotten 5 stars but the little bitty at the front was so rude. I wish I had gotten her name. We went in all with our masks on except my 3 year old who isn't even required to wear one at her doctors office. The lady at the front told me my daughter would need one to enter. Fine. Well I explained that I didn't have one and the lady snarkaly says "I'll BUY her a mask then". I'm thinking it was going to be a mask tilored to fit a child properly. She gave me a regular paper mask for adults and rolled her eyes continuing to speak down to me. My thing is this, if you require one, provide it especially if the admission is 10$ per person for a 30 minute tour, if that.
Sorelle Levy
It really is an Andy Griffith museum! Not too big but would take a bit of time to really read through everything. Staff were friendly but weird about buying postcards outside of the set! Really nice time there though.
Kevin McDevitt
Had alot of fun there.
Terri Argentieri
Wonderful seeing place. Enjoyed it all
Henry Powers
Tickets cover admission to several historical sites. A great deal and a great way to spend the day. Lots of shops and places to eat.
Jesse Smith
I brought my to the Andy Griffith Museum for her 70th Birthday. She got pictures with the Bronze statue of Andy & Opie. We also visited the rest of the points of interest Mayberry (My.Airy). My Wife and visit Mayberry (My.Airy) several times a year. We Love this place!
Dolores Farmer
If you're a fan of the Andy Griffith show, you will love it here. Many of the original props and set pieces from the show are on display. Costumes, furniture, the doors to the Sheriff's office, quilts, posters, and more are all on display. It's not a huge place, but it's a friendly one and you will enjoy the visit. $6 a person admission. It took me less than an hour to see everything. Would definitely go back!

Absolutely love this place. A must see! Got to meet Betty Lynn (Thelma Lou). She is an amazing lady. So sweet and down to earth. If you have the chance to visit..GO! You won't be disappointed.
Matt Thomas
Fun if you grew up watching this show. The museum is nicely done.
Shannon Natale
This is a great place to visit if you're interested in going back in time... Everything is cheap and everyone is nice. The museum was as expected from a small country town. There are a lot of displays with printed info, there was a theatre with a mural, and there was a photography exhibit while we were there.
Isaac Wilson
The main building is interesting, educational, and engaging. The side building has some relevant history on Thelma Lu and also a section on the Siamese twins which is not relevant to the museum at all. Good place for a day visit.
Sherry Cortinas
This was a wonderful place to visit. The people are very knowledgeable of Andy Griffith. They told us some things that we never heard before. Loved this place.

Such a great place to visit. I’m so glad I went to Mt. Airy to visit the Andy Griffith Museum and was able to meet and chat with Betty Lynn (a.k.a. Thelma Lou from The Andy Griffith Show). That was such a life time experience that I’ll never forget. Miss Lynn is truly an angel from heaven.
David D
Clean, well organized and incredibly informative on the incredible life of Andy Griffith. The museum and the court house / sheriff's office are separated by about a half mile, but can be seen altogether in about an hour. A must see for anyone passing through the area.
Doug Taylor
Patrons waiting outside to get in. Saw old cars riding in museum lot w friendly folks waiting to get in.
Stacy Martin-Duffy
We had a great time going through all the memorabilia in the museum. There is a mural in another building and a Thelma Lou and siamese twin display in another building. Then we walked through the little town. Very cool!
Caleb Turner
For a fan of Andy Griffith, this is a MUST-stop! Even if you are not a fan or do not know who Andy is, you should still consider pulling off the interstate and visit MT. Airy, specifically the museum! Great exhibits. Nice t-shirts available for purchase and quite a few DVDs and books.
Sue Fincham
This was something I had wanted to do for years. I really enjoyed it. If you get the chance to go you need to make sure and take the tour through the town. You not only get to ride in the police cruiser but you get to go see the granite quarry.. unbelievable!! Nice way to take a walk down memory lane and spend an afternoon. Tour quide's name was Craig and he was awesome!
K Agler

Highlights the Andy Griffith Museum and Andy's career. Very cool for people who have watched the show or followed Griffith career. There are other exhibits downstairs like the twin exhibit, there is alot of history covered there as well. Very cool all around worth a stop.

Being a part-time Barber at Floyd's Barber Shop, we have routed many folks to the Andy Griffith Museum. It's a very short walk from downtown Mayberry, Main Street.
Everything you knew and wanted to know can be seen and verified here. If you love the show, then this is a must to visit while in Mayberry, "Mount Airy, NC.
Tyler Fagan
Nice staff, a good bit to see! The museum is undergoing renovations currently, which sort of undermines the experience, but the curator said it'd be done by July! All-in-all, a good stop, especially if your a fan of Andy.
DEBBIE TINDALL
Loved the town of Mayberry
Danene Bloch

Pretty cool museum if you are an Andy Griffith fan or Matlock, kinda small but they have some neat memorabilia from the sets.
William Cory
After visiting Trump Winery we headed to the Andy Griffith Museum. Wholesome television shows like The Andy Griffith Show are rare we enjoyed the museum
Joan Lowder
Museum was good and my mom really enjoyed it. We would have stayed longer but she needed a place to sit and rest and I think only 1-2 seats.
Go with cash. How crazy that they would charge you a $3.00 service fee to use your credit card. I rarely carry cash and just has to use my cash at a local restaurant who didn't even take credit cards.
L Whynot
Great display of Andy Griffith memorabilia. We spent an hour at the museum (not a huge museum but nice) and then a few more touring this quaint town. Had a fantastic time at Floyd's Barber shop. Floyd's is an absolute must see!
Beverly Vichich
my husband and me were there in July of this year (2015) and loved it. Lots of things about Andy Griffith we didn't know and the best part was meeting Betty Lynn who played Thelma Lou. She is a wonderful and delightful lady. She's there the 3rd Friday of every month and is well worth waiting to see her. Will definitely go back
Travis Pagans
I am a big Andy Griffith fan and so glad I got to finally visit Mt Airy! Museum provided lots of interesting info and also provided authentic props from the shows. At $8.00 a person bring the family! Just wish we would have came on a Saturday when the town has more shops are open.

I enjoyed seeing more to Andy Griffiths career than just Mayberry. There is memorabilia from everything he has done. There is a lot of information that the locals share that I enjoyed hearing. Also included is the Simease Twins exhibit. It interested me as I had read a book about them recently. Mt. Airy in gereral was wonderful to see. I hope to return one day.
Keyra Dodge
I absolutely loved this place!
I grew up watching Andy Griffith, and seeing all of the historical articles of his life and his accomplishments being displayed made me happy.
Standing by the Andy and Opie statue was surreal, the detail that went into making it made it seem like the statues were alive.
They even give you a little sticker sherriff's badge to wear.
If you are a Andy Griffith fan I would highly suggest you visit this place and the little town of MayBerry.
Sandra Crowe
Really enjoyed the visit. All my children grew up watching this show.
Michelle Jones

Be sure to give yourself time to check out the other exhibits included with your admission. I was so happy we stopped on our way through, wish we would've had more time before it closed, since most places close at 5pm.

A must to visit but only if you are a Andy Griffith van from days past. You will appreciate the memories if you watched the Andy Griffith series.
Jeremy Harper
If you are an Andy Griffith fan…. Take the tour. And sign up for the guided tour of the theater.
Jerald Truesdell
We visited in 2014, and then returned this year to see Thelma Lou. She is a very delightful person to meet. The museum is packed full of items spanning Andy Griffith's life. At the door is memorabilia from Andy's high school and college days, and as you walk around the museum you can follow the chronology of his life. The visit was definitely worthwhile. The local arts council has done a great job in putting all this together, as I am sure they have done so with very limited funding. It does get a bit crowded while Thelma Lou is there. If you want the museum, visit while she isn't there. It would be nice if they had extended hours when she is there, or if they had her sign autographs in a separate location.
Amy Dockery
Very neat and lots to look at.
stephen joest
Go see this tribute while it lasts. Andy's hometown, his actual house you can rent nightly, Floyd's barber shop, Emmets repair, old vehicles, playhouse where Andy acted, Snappy lunch counter, Aunt Bees kitchen. Quite authentic, low prices, close together.
Natalie Everett
It was very much enjoyable but wish I could have had alil more time but had to leave so give urself atleast and hour or so to go through the museum!!

I've seen several plays some from professionals and some from mentally challenged persons. All were great. Enjoying.Funny. Enlightening. Heart feeling. The actors were very authentic to the play. I hope they continue to perform such. Great productions.
