Lots to see here! The volunteers have done an incredible job making history come to life. I was so impressed by all the details (particularly aboard Hazard) I kept forgetting to take pics, so these really don't do any justice. You'll just have to check it out for yourself!

This visit was a birthday gift to my husband. We weren't sure what we'd see but this was more than we expected! The volunteers are so valuable to the experience as are the exhibits and their place in history.

Beautifully situated alongside the Missouri river, this park is home to some of the best preserved WW2 memorabilia available in this century! The Minesweeper, or U.S.S. Hazard, is the only surviving WW2 vessel in it's original outfitting, and being on it is like sailing up the river of time to 1944. Highly recommended for enthusiastic historians, or as an engaging educational tool for children. The park also boasts a full submarine (U.S.S. Marlin) and an assortment of airplanes, helicopters, and a garden of tremendous anchors. I would also recommend leaving some appreciation in the donation box, as this park is deeply underfunded, and run by volunteer efforts.

This place was truely a hidden jem. Have lived in omaha for all my life and had never been here. Such a great place to visit with the family the kids had fun exploring the ship and we got a submarine tour the guide was awesome all theyvask is for a small donation whatever you can do either way they welcome you. There is also some other nice picture spots for you to take with the family we had loads of fun and took hundreds of pictures 📷

A hidden gem! This park deserves more funding from state. How often do citizens get to board a Navy ship or submarine? I enjoy this park!

5 stars cool place and it’s free. Only thing that sucks it’s only open on Saturdays for a few hours but definitely worth checking it out. U can explore the ship and if u want to donate they have a box on the ship.

WW2, Vietnam, and later era battleships, submarines, and helicopters. Vietnam vets maintain the facilities and give you a detailed tour if you'd like. Practically nothing is off limits, you can climb all around inside and out of the boats, subs, and choppers. Not only do you get an accurate and detailed account of the purpose and workings of the boats and subs, but you get first account stories from the men who lived and worked on the subs. A very educational and inspiring experience.

Amazing collection of WWII artifacts with the only surviving WWII minesweeper, the USS Hazard in near fully restored condition. Also the USS Marlin submarine along with SAM radar batteries, aircraft, artillery, propellers, and more.

I visited here yrs ago and at that time toured inside of submarine Saturday 2022 I visited with my fiance from the amazing sight just driving into park and seeing the Minesweeper i knew i was in for a fantastic tour. The nice tour guides and men were there to welcome us aboard and was onhand to answer any questions. I was in awe the small quarters in which the crew indured i took over 70 photos so interesting and the size of the anchors and other things we seen. Just Amazing. We will tour again definitely!!:)

What a lovely gem! So thankful to the volunteers that provide tours, information and maintain the military equipment. Very relaxing spot on the river, casual atmosphere where you can wander around at your own leisure.

There wasn't a lot there for the area that was fenced off. The road in made it look sketchy. It was fun to go in and explore the Naval ship and Sub-Marine.
Hailey Rolffs
TOP NOTCH. The owner took time to get old records out and show us journal entries from the submarine's time in action. Well maintained and so many cool things to see here. Would love to go back again.
Lisa Vogel
We had a fantastic experience at Freedom Park. Dwayne gave us a tour of the Minesweeper ship that was like a walk back in time. Excellent preservation of the past!
Tilden Barnes
Wonderful gem! They have lots of WWII naval guns, a few aircraft, and two naval vessels. These last you get to explore or go on tour. Really exciting if you have never been on a ship but have only seen in those old movies.
Tambra McDowell
We had a great time. I had never been on any kind of ship before in my 59 years of life. This was extremely exciting.

Great place to check out! My 3 daughters aged 5 to 13 had a blast and thought it was mind blowing and so cool, as well as the 4 adults with! The volunteers are great too and knowledgeable! Very sad that with all of the construction and funding going on currently around and in Omaha, spending millions/ billions of $, states can't or won't get funding to keep places like these goin. Nice entrance to a park and gazebo and a restaurant I thought, but people that come to visit have to drive down a gravel road guiding you with hand made signs? No one comes to that park for the nice entrance or dumb gazebo. Pay the veterans! There is plenty looking for a job that would be a great asset to a place like that. Our family went at the end of the day so had to skip the submarine tour but definitely will visit again if in the area and OPEN.

I would like to thank the people who take the time to manage and preserve these memorials. I thank you for preserving our history. And I thank you for keeping the story going about the greatest generation.
Jason Billue
Lots of neat history. Great volunteers that work there and very knowledgeable
Greg Gienger
Glad to see they reopened the park. I was sad to see how much damage was done to some of the displays and no one has even given them a fresh paint job. The naval area has been restored but, the aircraft have sadly been forgotten.
Roy Lambert
A great place to see and explore some US Navy history and warfare.

It was amazing and beautiful if your coming to visit omaha this is definitely one of the places to go its amazing to see how these beasts were built
Eric Lum
Free self-guided tour of old WWII ships and planes maintained by veterans. You can go inside of the ship and submarine. Limited open times, so check days and times.
Logan McCarthy
Interesting place. A "hidden" spot in the Metro I enjoy taking guests. Wish the city would throw a few grand at this place to spruce it up. The volunteers do a terrific job with what they can do.
Jean-Luc Pous
This park is closed as well as the access road:
I called the city and they can arrange for a guided visit, which I did not solicit.
Finally decided to walk to this park, courageously entered it and visited on my own.
Of course I did not try to access the submarine, the helicopter, the war ship but could stroll along
for as long as I wished.
The park is nearly abandonned but interesting. Hope it will be re-open soon.
Anthony Stepka
Although very limited hours, the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Exhibits are quite interesting and worth visiting at least once!
Brad Wells
A US Navy vet guided us through the whole sub, and we were shown through the whole boat, with tons of vintage WW2 equipment. The museum is inside the ship, and you can touch a ton of real history!
It has short hours and is only open on summer Saturdays. Don't let the dirt road deter you, they are still trying to fix it up after a bad flood.
Came last year and came again this year.

This is a diamond in the rough. Visit if possible. Be ready to put your crocks in sport mode!!!

Very cool place to learn and take the kids. Frozen in time and just a great experience
Natalie Barnes
So cool to explore all of the parts of the ships. And see so many other artifacts. And for free! Truly a treasure and hope to visit again soon!
Tyrie Smooth Bundy
I had people tell me they never heard of this place and then we all had such a blast seen so many things. And it was a free tour
HaZy
This is an insane experience for literally no money. If you have like an hour to kill and have any interest WWII military, go here. It's was outstanding.
Grant Anderson
Check Freedom Park's Facebook page for the hours. It's open 10 to 3 on Saturdays right now. Kids love the Hazard and Marlin. This is a volunteer operation, so the ships could really use your donations. You won't find a better naval museum this far inland anywhere else in the world.

Had a blast with Ami

Thank you so much! I found about this when looking at the USS Towers DDG-9 webpage. I served on board the USS Towers DDG-9 from 1969 to 1973 and did two tours in Vietnam. I was the one who actually drove the Captains Gig that sits at the freedom park. I had to pilot that boat up the Perfume River in Hue, Vietnam to a base to pick up mail bags for our destroyer. I am so blessed that it is still alive. I know they sunk the Towers a few years back but I did not know this boat was saved. Amen! Jim Valdez PC3, South Carolina. Y'all made my day!!!
Zach Madsen
We were able to go inside the ship and submarine there. It was awesome to see all the memorabilia from world war 2. Had a great time!
Anthony Olson
Amazing seeing the boats and being able to explore at a self pace.
Russ “Rusty Nail” Johnson
This place is one of omaha s best parks a must see place it's only open on Saturdays and that's if the weather is good wish it was open more but it is ran all by volunteers and they are very knowledgeable and tell you all about the boat and submarine and aircraft that's there great place must see
