Absolutely amazing! You can learn so much about the history of pigeons dating back thousands of years ago up to now. I was excited to see the Passenger Pigeon on display as well. There is so many different works of art, sculptures, and taxidermy. The library is full of historic information and diaries.
The artifacts are super cool to view.
This is definitely a great place to visit and even spend some time reading the books, I highly recommend visiting here and of course getting to meet with the live pigeons. They're so soo cute♡

There’s a lot to learn about a simple bird. This museum is small, but jam packed with information and knowledge.
My wife and I went there for our anniversary. It was worth the trip. On top of that, we got to pet some of the pigeons they had. Thankfully the birds were kept indoors and away from the heat.

This place was small and only a few rooms. But the information on the history about pigeons and how they were used in delivering news is very detailed in the museum. Got to learn so much about these beautiful birds. They even have some on display to talk too. But stay far away from slappy. He isn't very nice.

great place to visit for any bird lovers or people interested in military history! Tons of info and art throughout the whole museum. The employee was very friendly and the merchandise was super cute.

The American Pigeon Museum is a wonderful place to visit. It's free admission (though I highly encourage donating if you visit) for a brief and very well curated experience. The museum is clean, brightly lit, and well organized into just three major rooms, but it documents a lot of important moments in the history of this surprisingly influential bird. While it feels tucked away in the woods, it's a very short ways from the science museum if you're trying to assemble an education day.

I've been wanting to come here for months but as they are only open on Friday and Saturday it's been hard with scheduling to actually get the chance to come down here. Was finally able to come and boy was it amazing. I absolutely love pigeons and being able to learn about their amazing history and petting the live pigeons was the most amazing experience I've ever had. Will definitely come back next time I get the chance.

This was an unexpected gem in Oklahoma City. We thoroughly enjoyed learning about the history of pigeons. I would definitely recommend this museum to anybody who is a war buff, nature enthusiast, or history fan. The only thing that I would change would be better caging and display of the live pigeons. The tiny cages sitting out against the building in direct sunlight did not seem adequate.

This is a very nice little museum with 12 breeds of pigeons hanging out there on the weekend. Several good exhibits, a video and a history lesson.
Caitlyn Holmes
Fantastic museum that really highlights how pigeons have served in the military and their accomplishments. Clean building, friendly staff, and adorable pigeons. (Pigeons were brought inside because of the rain and soon transported back to their home, normal cages are much larger). Excellent museum overall that is a great place for any pigeon or military enthusiast.

This is a very cool place to visit and learn about the American Pigeon. What a great unique place to spend some time with your children. Don't miss this OKC gem.

Art meets history in this small beautifully curated museum. So much information and interest in this hidden gem. This museum is visually captivating with it's collection of artifacts and art pieces. To say the staff is friendly is an understatement. Great destination for people of all ages. My teenage daughter and I agreed that the pigeon whistles display was our favorite, and I was impressed with the collection of racing timers. This place does not disappoint!

Fantastic collection of pigeon history and memorabilia. Exhibits show how pigeons helped the military win wars, the pigeon show breeds, and champion racing homing pigeons. Live pigeons are also on display.

A little-known gem in OKC! So cool to see some of their special pigeons up close. An informative video about the history of pigeons.
David Su
This place is off the beaten path (literally) and easy to overlook but it's worth checking out. While 5000 years of pigeon history might not seem interesting at first you get drawn in my the stories of pigeons coordinating the Allied effort in WWI, or certain individuals making a fortune by getting Information through carrier pigeons, or the fact that they're the only flying "best of burden" humans have every domesticated. It's a fun and casual to spend an afternoon, plus you get to meet some cute pigeons. Admission is free but donations are welcome.
Dan Barry
Oddly specific, charming, bright, clean, informative, and brimming over with love for these underappreciated birds.
Becca Childs
One of the most interesting and unique museums I've ever been to!
Andy Bennett
Quite interesting small museum. We weren't sure exactly what to expect, but it was very well done. Basically areas of emphasis, pigeon racing, pigeon breeding/development, and the role of homing pigeons in warfare, with a primary emphasis on WWII. I found the WWII info, pictures, and artifacts particularly interesting; I have a very good knowledge of the era, but knew virtually nothing of the role homing pigeons still played in communicating battlefield information. Plan on 30 minutes or so for a visit
Recommended!

My kiddos and I drove from KC to see the APM, and it was worth the trip. Any and all expectations I had were met and exceeded.
The staff is wonderful and truly care for the birds. The layout of the building flows nicely, and the facility is impeccably clean.
The pigeons and absolutely adorable.
Thank you Lauren and family! Time at the APM is well spent.
Megan
Really cool little museum packed with information and art. They do have live pigeons, too, including a big fat one named Elvis.
Nina T
Super interesting (and so is their instagram.) It was too hot so the pigeons werent out but I'm looking forward to going back to see them.
Christopher Kyle
My friends and I had time to spare and came here. There is no entrance fee! We thought it would boring. It was actually really interesting! The live pigeons were off display temporarily, but they still made a way to allow us to see them. This place seems great for boy scouts, homeschoolers, history and war buffs, families, and animal lovers. I highly recommend this place. You won't regret coming here.

I don't know why Oklahoma City is lucky enough to have the American Pigeon Museum, but I'm glad we do. This is such a fun museum! I learned so much about pigeons. In addition to the awesome exhibits, they also have a variety of live pigeons to see. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. One hour at the museum is plenty of time to see everything.
Debra Helton
WOW. Everyone laughed when I talked about my plans to visit the museum but it was so informative and interesting. I hope everyone gets a chance to visit and support this fun little museum.
Paula Robinson
We saw a variety of live pigeons. Lots of artifacts, paintings, printed material telling of pigeon races and the military use of pigeons during war-time. The visit is interesting and not too long. The facility is nicely displayed. We were glad we visited. I saw a story about the museum on a local TV show.
MATTHEW LAKE

Excellent information about pigeons and they're use.
Laura Eason
This is a small museum but way cooler than we ever could have expected. They have history, cool exhibits, and live pigeons of different breeds you can look at and hold. I'm not a pigeon enthusiast or anything like that, but I was really glad we stopped by.
It's free, so while you might want to bring a few dollars to donate its definitely something you can do on a budget. If you're in okc and have some free time on a Saturday definitely stop by.
Dawson Holloway
Informative, beautiful museum. One of my favorite places.
Matt Robinson
An unexpected roadtrip hit! Growing up in a large city conditioned me to see pigeons as pests. This small museum is a wealth of information on pigeon's rich history, and value as pets and working animals. Totally worth it!!! And you can pet live pigeons!!!
Erin Whitney
Small museum with a lot of information about the history of pigeons, pigeon racing and the use of pigeons by military during the two world wars. The museum is free and only open Friday- Sunday. They had several varieties of live pigeons outside- I had no idea there were so many. They have a small kids area with books about pigeons, coloring pages and a scavenger hunt. We spent a little over an hour reading the displays and saying hi the live birds.
Christeen Graff

Beware! Your world view of pigeons may change in an instant! Museum Curator, Lorrie Monteiro, is an enthusiastic guide to this history of the pigeon. The timing was right, and we were able to see and hold many varieties of pigeons and learned the history of the unique features of many. A definite must see.
Robert Faulkner
