Reviews of Oklahoma Railway Museum
Crystal M
Our family was there to see The Polar Express. It was well worth the money. I had such a great time I think even more than the kids. The staff was very professional and everything looked and sounded great. I would definitely go again. I think it's better to go at night time though I think it will make your experience better.

First off the museum was very accommodating when we had to cancel our Easter Train ride due to illness. They could have easily said to us “sorry no refunds” but they offered to reschedule us to another train ride day. Thank you for being very accommodating.
Our day came and we enjoyed our visit. A small but wonderful museum about the history of Oklahoma railroad. We thoroughly enjoyed our 30-40 minute ride in a restored passenger car. Our daughter kept telling us thank you.
This place is a great place for adults who love history and for kids. Highly recommend this place if you enjoy history and trains.
David A.
The family had a fun time visiting and seeing all the trains. Some were closed because of the heat but we still enjoyed it. We also took a train ride that wasn't spectacular but we still had fun. If you're looking for a fun activity and something out of the norm, this might be it.

Price: free
Duration : 30min - 1 hour
Worthwhile stop if you're interested in trains. It is a fully volunteer run organization with the mission of preserving and restoring historic trades. You get the opportunity to walk through a number of train cars and cabooses from different time periods
Bryan Smith
Fantastic experience. From the check in to the vendors on site to the crew aboard the train. Our girls enjoyed the train ride for the Polar Express. The hot chocolate was super delicious the cookies were TASTY also. I'm very excited to do this again in the future. The value was worth it in my perspective. Whomever is in charge of logistics did a great job and should be commended.
Respectfully,
The Smith family of Yukon, Oklahoma

I loved my visit to the Oklahoma Railway Museum. I’m not into trains at all but it was still interesting to see the Engines and rail cars. I really enjoyed walking around the property and trains. There is so much to see and a lot of opportunities to take industrial photos. You can literally smell the history here as the smell of grease and oil is still on a few locomotives. What a wonderful place to bring kids. The trains take some effort and strength to actually pull yourself up to their steps so I can easily see myself bring my toddlers to check it out. I loved the time I spent here and I appreciated how knowledgeable and friendly the staff were. All around great experience and location to spend a summer afternoon.

The collection of engines, railcars and cabooses, built over 20 years is amazing. Some of them are accessible to the public, others need a volunteer to be present. On select days there are scheduled train rides lasting 45 minutes, which sounded like fun.
Heather Rainbolt
Oh what a wonderful experience. ❤❤ Before we went to get off the train, the train car hosts approached us and gave us another bell a piece because we couldn't hardly hear because of some obnoxiously loud people in front of us and they complimented how well the kids behaved and interacted with the cast on the train. My daughter was also asked by the Polar Express Conducter himself to help with the ending of the train ride by helping deliver the first gift of Christmas to the kid who had a hole in his pocket. ❤❤ My heart is so full. ❤❤
Bob Sibley
Several cool old trains and cars! I hear if you go on the right day, you can schedule a ride! I have goals next time i am in OKC!
Free will donation Museum! They were doing a bunch of work when we were there, its worth donating!
Kara Baumann
Polar Express was out of this world amazing!!! Very professional and actors/actresses were insane good! The whole performance was good and the singing brought tears to my eyes. Loved it. May go back again before Christmas.
Matt Billen
Participated in both diesel & steam “At the Throttle “ events. To live out my dream of not only operating a diesel, but the opportunity to be in control of a steam locomotive were the greatest gifts ever received for my birthday. Both engineers on each piece of equipment were friendly, patient, and extremely knowledgeable of their locomotives and “rail history “ associated with the old Katy Line the museum operates on. I learned so much in my short time spent on the rails. Thank you ORM members and volunteers for making these events possible to the public.
Danielle Hollars
I took a couple of my children to The Polar Express production, and it was FANTASTIC! All of the cast and staff members were incredible! I am disabled and they were great helping me off of the train. My ticket wasn't punched initially, and my train's conductor did it for me. I will be back next year with the rest of my crew!
Rohit Srinivas
The people who set this up have gone a yard or two extra to neatly explain the various components used in the rail industry.. color coded stuff which anyone can easily understand.
Nice collection of locomotives and coaches. Ranging from diesel to steam piston. Hard to believe some of these locomotives were built decades ago, such amazing feat of engineering!! Kudos to ppl who built these and the ppl who collect and maintain this for us public to see.
This place offers a 45 min train ride up until end of August.. you can also host parties here (as it says at the entrance on their notice board).
Julie White
Went for Father's Day...so neat...we've never been on a train before. My dad has but a very long time ago.
Kaylie Phillips
We enjoyed our day at the museum. We went on a Saturday so we did the 45 minute train ride. It was okay. It was an out and back trip that didn't really have much to look at and you couldn't hear/understand the conductor very well who was telling you about the ride. I wish there was better signs when walking around the museum area. I honestly have no idea if we saw the whole thing or not. It was a neat experience but not someplace I will go back to multiple times. They did mention their Christmas train rides and that sounds like a much neater experience as you travel to the "North Pole," especially if you have younger aged kids.
Vontisha Welter
I still believe! What an amazing experience and train ride. Words can't express the love and excitement we felt from the Polar Express crew. We will make this a family tradition ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Lafe Cain
Very fun show and Train Ride for the kids. The Train host were spectacular and fun. We will be back next year in the evening this time. You have to book early they sell out fast. And remember to wear your Pj's. To get the
Polar Express experience.
Yogis Dogie
Really interesting museum for train enthusiasts. It is a 501(3c) so they run it off of donations and entrance fees. It has a lot of really neat trains and the run the trains in certain days. Tours are available. Interactive displays and working restorations are in progress. They have special weekends full of events. Christmas Express in the fall.
Terry Bowler
I did the Easter ride on the train with my grandsons, daughter & wife. It was great for the grandsons as they wanted to ride the train and do the Easter Egg Hunt.
I’m assuming the Easter egg hunt was to be safe and only small trinkets in the eggs. So no candy!
The grandsons were excited and had a great time. Worth the adventure to be with them!
Megan Jester
First time on a train and we had a blast. The entire staff was very kind and professional. It was a great experience!
Bernadette Stitz
I love how all the programs work. We are really having so much fun on this show while the train are running.
The Cook's Family
We went there for the free self guided tour outside. It was fun and we got to go into a few trains. The volunteer even showed up the model trains and told us the plans for the museum. It was a fun experience and we will be back to ride the trains during the holidays.
Sal Lima
Nice place for pictures and we even ride on a small unit that pushes cars from railroads to park and accommodate them. Beautiful.
Randy Black
Polar express event in Christmas Eve was outstanding, the production and actors were great..
Alex
This place is awesome! Took my two kids for something free to do during this pandemic. I was not disappointed. They have little work sheets and scavenger hunt. They also have a small park my kids had a blast and got their energy out at. High recommend
Patric H
While on a business trip to Oklahoma myself and a co-worker had some spare time and wanted to see something interesting. We found the museum, and thought we give it a shot!
So glad we did! When arrived, the museum admin greeted us at the entrance. She told us about the history of the place, the trains and what there is to see. The lady was so passionate about the museum, which is great!
We had a look around all the train carriages. It was a Thursday so no trains were running, but that was OK with me! The whole museum was very well layed out. There's a lot of cool equipment around to see. The restored station house from Oakwood, Oklahoma is in brilliant condition and houses the museum shop.
Some of the trains and coaches are open, some are closed. It's a really nice place to visit, and something there for every generation. If I'd live a bit closer I'd volunteer!
Would go again and recommend to everyone!
Set aside a couple of hours if the trains are not running.
:-)

This museum/historical playground is THE BEST. It's not one of Pc's better known attractions buy totally worth it. The Day Out With Thomas event is awesome. The staff are all volunteer and passionate about their duty here. Kids love the place.
Susan Martin
My 3 year old son is obsessed with trains and Thomas the tank engine, so when Thomas was coming through for a visit, we just had to go! It was amazi mg, so fun and very cool to ride the train and walk through the others. Definitely will be going back!
Benji Lietzke
My family and I greatly enjoyed the train ride and museum. The ride was very informational, with beautiful views of the Lincoln Park golf course on half. They offer open cars or air conditioned cars. There's plenty of exhibits for the kid's to check out, and a small playground. The gift shop was very reasonably priced, and had some pretty cool stuff.
Charlie Miller
My family visited here for something fun for the kids, but honestly I think I enjoyed it just as much if not more than they did and they loved it.
It was neat to see the old engines and train cars, as well as getting to go through some and see a little bit of history.
The toy train setup was great, the kids had never seen one that large with all the details.
Everyone we met working there was friendly and full of information, it was easy to tell they enjoyed what they were doing!
Definitely worth a trip, and something I'm sure we'll make our way back to at some point.
Paula Briggs
It was a very interesting place my good friend Karl Stevenson built a whole train station display in one of the passenger trains it is cool need to check it out.
Kaetee Bruns
We always love any events put on here. I usually bring the kids for Thomas the Train when he is in town. This year we rode on the Polar Express. It was amazing! The staff was friendly, energetic, and involved the audience. Even my 4 year old had a great time. This was his first train ride and he loved it. My 10 year old loved it as well.
Michelle Whitlow
Besides hosting incredible events like Thomas the Train and the Polar Express, the museum is also the perfect place to experience anytime! With tons to see, experience, touch and tour! All ages are thrilled to be there.
Iris Sanchez
my 7-year-old son my 15-year-old daughter had a great time, only my son told me mom because he doesn't go faster 😂 he wanted more speed , delicious 😋 hot chocolate and cookies …
Shawn Ta'
This was an awesome experience for the kids they were able to get on the trains and touch things. The playground was good for the baby. I wish we could have taken a train ride.
Totemwolf67
Very interesting place. Any rail fan must go. Great for kids of all ages.
John Seratt
Perfect for the young train fan or the young at heart. If you've always wanted to play on trains but we're never allowed, this is the place to get it out of your system. You can climb in and go on many different kinds of cars and learn a little history to boot. This adventure can be a little smelly, hot, and dirty so be advised to bring those little extras, like cool water and wet wipes, for the ride home.
Suellyn Nuckolls
I love trains it was really nice. I wish they can get the Big Boy engine sitting in Altus,ok
I would donate money to get it restored.
jewels white
Had a good experience..everyone was nice... Cant remember his name... Jason...I think... we were in car C and he told jokes..lol...
Mo Kasem
Great place to learn about 🚂 and History of working woman during WW2 also free …
Drew Noecker
We went to the Halloween train ride from the Railway Museum. It was a great time, and our 2-year old loved it. Many adults wore costumes, and all of the kids. It was an event with many things to do, and it ran really smoothly.
Shawna Bailey
Wonderful experience. Go do the Polar Express at the railway museum in Oklahoma City. Take everyone you know with you and enjoy a wonderful exciting rendition of the movie. Worth every penny.
K Jones
My child and I went for the Polar Express train ride and had an AMAZING time!!! Love the museum as well. We had time to walk around and see the trains. 🚉 …
Re re
I think this is a great place to take your kids. Especially if your kid is into trains. Which mine are. And the fact that it's free is even better. And around December they have a train rides for the kids.
Jezire Akin
We went to the Polar express train here as a family and it was so magical and well done. My 3 year old niece about died of happiness.
terjen55
We just stopped by on a wim. The gates were open and the staff was busy working, but they were kind enough to let us walk around and look at the trains. They really do a good job.
Scott Williams
This is a very interesting museum. If you love the history of trains and model trains this is the place for you! People that run it are very nice and informative. And it's free!
Susie Hurst
We took our 3 year old grandson and he loved it. He’s really into trains and this was a special memory for us all. Plenty of trains to look at and climb on. So glad we have something like this to ride on. Very informative too.
Kathi Jensen
A small but great place to go and visit. Walk through some of the cars still with original seating and debt forget to see the car that holds the large working train set. If you like trains you won't want to miss this little gem of a place up.
Justin Finley
Excellent place to check out. The lead lady, Anne, was wonderful and accommodating to me and the video I was making. I used the trains as a great backdrop and loved walking around the train yard. More exhibits coming soon. The train engine was built in 1879 and was used in a movie called "The Pale Door"
Todd Brennfoerder
I came down from Missouri for the day with three year old son, and he absolutely loved! He went through every car and caboose at least three times, and we even rode the train twice. This is a pretty neat place, and you could tell the people here really love what they do. Thanks for the great day!
Roy Clover
It was interesting and looking at the old train engines and and Passenger cars but there wasn't any one there to give information out or to ask I just wandered around the lot looking at the old times. They did have tents up like they have a food booths and tours but like I said there was no one around and it didn't cost me anything I did it was all open so I just wandered around and took a few pictures.
Justin Finley
The only reason I give it 4 stars is they didn't have any of the buildings open but were "Open". Love the history and the trains themselves. Amazing!
Kirsten Stevenson
This was such a fun trip for our little boy. We rode the train and then looked around the museum. My son thought it was the coolest thing ever. I hope to take him back next year for another train ride.
Edward Jinkens
We did the polar express, out grandkids had a wonderful time. All was well preformed by the preformers.
Barbara Johnson
We rode the Polar Express foot Christmas. Great entertaining train ride for kids and adults too.
Edward Jinkens
We really enjoyed the Polar Express with our Grandkids and Great Grandkids. The performances were great.
Derek Corzine
Free museum to see and go inside trains. Seasonal train rides offered with a ticket purchase. Really neat place and great for the family!
Jason Winn
My wife and I had a good time here. Her dad is a collector of model trains and we got to see the actual trains that he has models of. That was really cool
kehively
Interesting railway trains and cars.free free to walk around. A few were open to walk thru.
Sonya McLendon
Loved it! 2 year old and me went. He is really into trains and found this fascinating. A guy gave us a tour and we got to go into most of the trains. They are well kept up and cool. There is a museum car that has old artifacts in it. Then another car with a working model train set. Very cool. Will def return.
Christopher Fernandez
What a great time on the Polar Express. My daughter loved it. Ty for the great memories.
Rosmin Maharoof
This museum is an amazing place to visit. There are all kinds of trains that we were able to get inside and explore. This museum is mostly run by volunteers who are extremely knowledgeable and gave us personal tour though out the museum. I personally recommend this place to visit.
Erin Elizabeth Cook
We had an amazing time with our nieces and nephews on The Polar Express! Looking forward to going back and visiting the entirety of the museum in Daylight.
Mrs Thor LLC
It’s FREE!!!! My 4 year old som loved it. & they h e a play ground
Randy Vallejo
A nice overall clean museum. You can walk around the whole yard and see train car and tank engines up close. The whole station is built to bring back memories when trains were mainly the only transportation. They have clean bathrooms and also have a gift shop. You can also buy tickets and go on the train ride. It lasts about 45 minutes and they give you history of all train cars and other projects that they have in store for the future. During the winter time the have the polar express, which they recreate the movie with cool lighting, cast, and can't forget about the hot chocolate.
william whitaker
Great. Took our girl on the polar express ride she loved it
Amanda Foreman
We attended the Halloween Train in October. While it was a blast, I think they could have added a bit more decor for the kids, and maybe some candy as well.
Stephen Parker
Railway museums such as this provide an important reminder on railroad history. The caboose displays especially show how the word we now understand as the tail played an important role in trains. Restoring and maintaining aging equipment is a real labor of love for staff and volunteers. The station and passenger cars reminded me of early childhood memories of rail travel.
Clayton Wilson
Great pieces on display, only 4 stars because the train layout was closed. Gift shop was closed and we never encountered an employee.
Alex Wisdom
We went in the off season, but it was still pretty cool, and they are planning a big renovation!
Susan Nettles
Have been here multiple times for various events and it's always a lot of fun for our family. You can explore the trains, one has a huge model train set inside of it and others you can just explore. The train ride itself is a good 40mins and the conductor is very informative and answers all your questions. Highly recommend for any family or persons that love trains!
fuzzygarfunkel
Super cool, operating railroad engines and cars and a REAL steam engine. We visited this weekend and rode the steam train 2x. The people are all great and friendly and ready to answer any question and tell railroad stories. We drove 3 hours from TX to visit and will be back again soon. Definitely recommend booking a steam train ride, and having plenty of time to explore the cars and model railroad setup inside the Pullman. Thank you for a great visit!!!
Tami Hunt
We had the best time on the Halloween train!! Everyone was so nice and the kids loved looking at the trains!!
Natalie Lawson
Trains! Great place to take kids, or adults. Train ride, history, and adventure. Handicap accessible, can even get wheelchairs on the train for rides.
Megan Davis
We enjoyed our train ride and looking around at the old trains on site. It's a nice visit for someone (young or old) who loves trains. I would recommend on a hot day to pick the train car with air conditioning.
Keith Galumbeck
Amazing experience and well worth the visit.
Wilfredo Melendez
A place to come and enjoy with the family. its staff very friendly and very organized.👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 …
Dav Andr
We had a great time are kids loved it the staff was very friendly the lines moved very fast ,it’s like a little carnival out there when they have Thomas the train.
G.Humphrey 04
Fun for the whole family and so much history in one place. I would highly recommend to anyone who loves a FREE and wonderful day out with the family!
Terry Bruton
Great place to take your family to see and ride vintage trains. The Polar Express around Christmas is exceptional especially for kids.
william allen
Could have been better. They were a bit pricey compared to other state railway museums we have visited. The polar express didn't have the best show. The song and dance was great though. Hot chocolate was good. Parking wasn't well designed. The start time was not what we were told.
Otto Stokes
Went for The Polar Express event at night and really enjoyed it. Drove from Texas to experience it.
Rebecca Andrews
The Polar Express was AMAZING! We loved every moment of the entire experience, it exceeded all expectations! The cast and crew in the Silver Bell Car were top notch and the hot chocolate was delicious! Santa made the whole thing over the top for our kiddos. Thank you for putting on this wonderful production. We look forward to visiting the train museum another time!
JD Kirk
This was an absolute blast and my children loved it. We did The Polar Express show and it was perfect! I look forward to doing it again next year, and the year after that, until my kids out grow the experience! Please if you're ever in Oklahoma around this time of year (December) check it out. It's so worth it.
Edit: just so you know I went in skeptical as all get out, I did not think it would be as good as it was. Your kids will enjoy this train ride and it's well worth it, to see the smile on their faces!
Andrew Jackson
We went on Easter weekend it was pretty busy. We got tickets in advance most people didn't know where their seats were. Our seats were in the caboose and we didn't realize they had a second story of seating in there luckily we could all climb the ladder to our seats. The train ride was less than 5 min and they had a very small area setup for about 100 kids to go Easter egg hunting. Unfortunately they did not split up the age groups or make sure all the little kids were at the front to get a chance. My daughter got about 5 eggs and my son didn't get any luckily they shared. This was not the case for many families that didn't get eggs at all lots of kids crying overhead one family of 5 didn't get any eggs for any of their kids but I was unable to determine which family it was. Just wish it had been better organized and all kids were able to get to enjoy the holidays.
J. Polliard
We enjoyed the Railway Museum and the train ride. The kids, ages 5-11, enjoyed the model train, going inside the kabooses and the train ride.
MeLissa Whitesell
Not enough volunteers to open exhibits so it simply looked like a graveyard for unwanted railcars. My childlike anticipation for the train ride was quickly deflated as we literally rolled slowly from the middle of the track to the south end, all the way back to the north end then back to the middle. Only faintly heard the "All aboard!" call but the narrator directing us to wave at the volunteer standing at the crossing came through loud and clear! I was so disappointed in the experience and feel like I wasted my money. I guess I should purchase a ticket on the Heartland Flyer if I really want to experience a train ride.
J SL
Polar Express was awesome. Great job by all there!!
Nicole Chilton
We went on the Polar Express last night. It was a magical experience. The whole family enjoyed it.
Michelle Schwoebel
My three-year old loves it here-he ran around from train to train for two hours before we dragged him away. The volunteer staff is amazing and the train ride was fun: it was the first time in a train for most of our family. It's outdoors and only open certain days, but it's a great way to spend a morning and very unique. Zoos and children's museums are everywhere, but I haven't seen anything like this before.
Caleb Martin
There is not a lot here, but still interesting to see. A few trains to look at and some small collections of historic railroad items.
darrel snider
I saw polar express think all need to go ride train you love it.
zachary
Did the polar express ride and it will be a family tradition from now on. The staff was amazing!!
William Carrell
Wow what a great little place to take a couple of kids who have never been on a train before ,the train had a variety of different types of cars and it was just enough time to bring good information to the kids and have them really enjoy the ride with an informative review of the history of the train, even the conductor we went up and talked to him after the ride we had a great day at this Museum on a rainy cold day
Shanyn Velasquez
We really enjoyed looking at the trains and speaking with the people who work their! Very friendly! And they have a great little playground for your children to play on
Greg Masterson
We had a great experience! We rode the train and the conductor gives great information on the train we are riding on as well as all display trains. Definitely recommend to anybody and everybody.
Stanford “Boots” Williams
Are you a train enthusiast? Well, so am I. I felt like a kid again.
Mandy
Took kids and had a great time! Playground and they loved looking into the trains! We will definitely come back! They even had scavenger hunts for different age groups of children. I think this would also be fun for a date night, just walking and looking at trains.
GLENDA PEGG
The nicest people ever!!! We had a fantastic time. Train ride was relaxing. My 2 year old grandbaby had a blast looking at all the trains. Not a big museum but we enjoyed almost 2 hours looking around. Thanks Ms Judy for all the fun facts. The Sallisaw family!!
Kathy Hall
Went to the Oklahoma Railway Museum to go to the Polar Express show and ride. It was a well run, entertaining, show. Would highly recommend for families. The Actors were excellent in engaging the audience. Wear your pajamas and go!
Tim Roberts
Our 2 years old grandson thought the train ride was awesome, I would have liked it better if had been a loop in the City instead of just forward and backwards a couple of times. There wasn’t much scenery to see on the ride , but if all you are after is a train ride it will fill the Bill.
Shawn Hudson
This is an amazing spot for kids and adults. I'll have some pics soon. But this place is open, without cost, to the public. (except train rides.) There's a small play area if your kids get bored. The whole place is nicely kept and well maintained, the staff gives you a very warm family feel. I was impressed! The train ride was good, a straight shot one way then back the other. I took an open car with benches, next time I'll take one of the passenger seat cars. There's also cars with thing like model trains that run, gift shop. Most importantly, there are cool trains! Definitely worth a membership!
Sherry Brannon
I stopped to if they were open and they were not, and I was just checking to see if Thomas The Train is coming to town. I also was reading and getting info off the board out front about the Ok Railway Museum.
Paiton Fancher
We did the Polar express experience and it was beyond amazing. Our kids had a blast and the train was decorated beautifully on the inside. We all had so much fun.
Colleen Dallman
Such a cool place for kids and adults. A few times a year you can pay to drive the trains. Lots of fun!
Jason Swanson
A great way to spend a few hours with kids. Just off I-35, easy on-easy off. Several train cars open for touring. A model train layout inside a train car. Several locomotives available to view on the grounds. Train rides on weekends and special occasions. Check website for details.
Carolynn Doerr
Day Out With Thomas is the ultimate railway day for families! We had a great time!
Ryan Eakins
We took our kids on "The Polar Express" over Christmas. My 11 and 8 year old absolutely loved it. My 15 year old liked it more than he would let on. It's an expensive event but very memorable. The museum itself looked very interesting with lots of old equipment and memorabilia. Hope to travel back there this summer and see all they offer during the regular season
Dale Withers
Had a great time on the North Pole Express, loved it
Griff OKC1
I had the opportunity to take my oldest granddaughter (age 3) on her first train ride at the Oklahoma Railway Museum. The sign-up for tickets was easy, all of the staff were wonderful, and we ended up making great memories. I highly suggest this for any family who wants to share something which is unusual and fun! The facility has a number of restored railroad engines and cars, some of which you can climb on which was also a highlight!
Holly Yocum
Our whole family loves the OK Railway Museum. The train rides they offer are great for kids and adults alike. My kids love passing the other trains during the ride. Try the open air car- it’s the best! Walking around the train crash is also very fun as you can typically go in several of them (The inside of the cars is closed right now due to COVID), but even just walking around the outside of them was super exciting for our kids. This is a fun, unique thing to do in OKC!
Lilia Suarez
There is so much to see in this tiny museum I will come back and bring all of my family members to see this awesome place 💗 thank you so much!!!!! …
Dave Ward
Great place for a half day trip. Small, but in a good way. Museum staff is great. Took the short train ride. It was perfect for a young child. The guides always have a story about trains and history. Entry is free, the train ride is 10 to 12 per person, kids 3 and under are free.
Staci Henry
It's not as big as we thought. It was neat to walk through a whole linked together train and view how each car used to be set up. The people are very friendly. Thomas Day was fun for my 2 year old.
Valerie Arnold
My kids loved the polar express!!
Laura Spriggs
I liked it but most of the train cars were locked so couldn’t go in them but I’ll probably go back when the weather warms hope so hopefully they’ll be open then.
Great collection of trains & looks like they have train cars you can rent for Birthday Parties & special events so that’s pretty neat if you know a train enthusiast. Admission to the museum was free but looks like they have events at other times that have ticket prices attached to them. I’ll try again later in the year when you can ride one of their trains. Still a fun place to check out on an afternoon 👍🏻🚂
Rosemarie Brown
This year was my family's 4th year to enjoy the Christmas train ride. It's a nice 40 min ride and we enjoy singing carols and the kids love getting to visit with Santa on the train. There's also an opportunity to take your own photos with Santa after the train ride. Once the ride is over we head to the large indoor facility for hot chocolate and cookies. It's been a wonderful start to our holiday family celebrations.
Kay
We had a great time. The air conditioned train car was nice and comfortable (consider a light sweater if you get chilled easily). The workers were friendly and we learned a lot. There are a few train cars that have exhibits inside - very interesting and informative. We will visit again! It's always enjoyable to support small museums.
Joe Dickerson
Oklahoma railway museum was a great place every parent needs to take their child just for the experience of days gone bye

Took my grandkids to ride the train with the Easter Bunny. They enjoyed seeing the Bunny and getting an Easter Egg from him. The train ride was fun but there wasn't much to look at out the windows. At the train station there was more for the kids to do. Bouncy house, swing set, model train, birthday train if you would like to reserve it, gift shop and plenty of trains. It was a fun morning about 2 hours or so.
Jerad L
Great times. Fun place. Defiantly a hidden gem.
Brandy B
We've been here for several events and it's always been fun. We went for Polar Express most recently and it was a lot of fun. We really enjoyed the whole experience! We've also gone to Day Out with Thomas and that was a lot of fun also. This is a great place to take your family!
Ashley Ray
We took our two year old on the train ride for his birthday and he had so much fun! It was the perfect trip length. About 40 minutes. Not too short, not to long. He also enjoyed playing around outside on the trains and the playground.
Alan
Had a great time at the throttle 10/15/2021! Great folks at the museum.
Nathanael Vaughn
Great place for kiddos to see the trains up close and ride one too.
James Bowling
This place was amazing for kids. They perform the Polar Express Movie around Christmas time. They were phenomenal while performing. Would highly recommend. They give the kids the golden tickets, hot chocolate, and cookies all while performing. Amazing hands down.
jesswhatsername
A little bit small, but lots of trains! Pretty good for solely volunteer based company.
If you love trains and their history then you will enjoy this place (which I assume is the point in a railway museum).
I was expecting more however, the train ride was very slow and felt a little pointless, the "play ground" was really just a slide with swings, but I would NOT consider that miniature golf!
Lindsy Kelley
Very friendly place! My kids loved it! They got to ring the bell and they thought that was totally cool lol. They ran all around the train yard and talked about how cool the trains were! We will definitely be back!
Justin M
We have been here countless times as our boys love coming here and climbing aboard the trains and checking out the running models. The grounds are very well kept and exhibits are well done. It's a neat place for the kids to learn about engines and how America was expanded by rail. They have several events throughout the year that amount to countless hours of fun for the kids like Thomas the Train and different holiday train rides.
Judith Rex
My train-loving 3 year old was in heaven! It's free (though they do take donations). We went during the week and it was totally empty, so we had the place to ourselves. We loved walking around trains and getting to go on/inside some cars. On the 1st and 3rd Sat each month, you can pay to ride a train (we haven't done that yet).
Bloki Broz
My wife and I took our kids here to meet Thomas and Friends. The kids had a blast and it was an overall great time. We got to ride the huge life size Thomas train. The staff there really put on a great show for the kids. Outside of Thomas, this place is still really cool. Lots of history and interesting info.
Christian & Zoee's Headquarters
Had a good time at Thomas the Train event!!
Tiff NI
Great experience...the operator was funny and very friendly.
Laura Deal
We had a really nice time here. Cute little gift shop, small playground, fun hands on rail cars for the kids to climb and we enjoyed a nice open car train ride.
Cait
I took my son here to meet Thomas the Train. They needed more shaded area. It was so hot I thought all the kids there were gonna be sick. Besides that they hosted a lovely event and I would love to return for Christmas to see Thomas again.
Chris R
This place was our choice for a 3-yr-old's birthday party, and it was great. Even though it rained, we had a great time at his party inside our own historic train car, then enjoyed a train ride afterwards. The staff were very accommodating. I would recommend this place for similar events.
Maximus_Prime_ _gsd
It was cool! Because we went in during holiday the museum it's self was blocked off for the polar express rides.
Dr.Debasree Biswas
Okay for this one take your kids, take your friend's kids, take your neighbours kids! This place is perfect for them, the more the merrier. Its mostly outdoor fun. Sadly I did not get the gift shop open. Oh, and there is no entry fee. You only pay if you ride.
Deanna Paladina
I loved the museum. It's free but they have a donation box. They are static displays of about half a dozen diesel locomotives and one steam engine. You can walk through a couple of passenger cars and cabooses. The cars have many pictures of Oklahoma celebrities and a few national ones as well. They have a lovely HO train layout in a baggage car that is very well done, and the kids can ring the bell of a steam loco or blow the horn of a diesel. On certain Saturdays they have short passenger train rides. As you enter, there is a display of a freight car truck (wheel sets) and the block of a diesel engine, which are fascinating for the mechanically inclined. There is plenty to see but it's small enough to not be overwhelming. And you can schedule birthday parties for the children. A fun little museum.
April Shipley
Christmas train...fun little adventure. I was disappointed but I think I expected too much. I loved the caroling while in transit. Lots of fun. I also thought the hot chocolate was served on the train. By the way I still am unsure where you get the hot chocolate. This is definitely best for younger children, maybe 7 and younger. My son is only one so we will probably do it again.
ron wiley
If you like railroads don't miss this one
Jessie McFarland
This is my second time visiting and it was just as good as the first time. I brought my grandson both times and he really enjoyed himself. There were various activities and exhibits. But, the best was the train ride.
Lisa Erwin
We had the best time!!! Would recommend especially for the younger kids. They were so amazed the whole time and every single staff member made it their goal to make us feel welcome. The explained everything so well!!
Jessica Burris
The volunteers were SO nice. Everyone was so excited to give you information on the tracks which was so fun. We took the train ride and although you dont go fast it was still an incredible experience for my whole family!!
Phyllis Aussieker
Train ride was entertaining, the crew were friendly. Santa spoke to each one of the children & there were a lot of them. Also liked that they had a warm place to wait before boarding the train.
Rebecca Grayson
I gave yall five stars because yall are such a cute little family out their and it cost like five bucks to get on a train and go always up the street back down then repeat enjoyed the day of the dead yellow train so sweet we r able to buy a brick in our loved ones name for 50 dollars it was nice and sweet thanks for the treat
Sean Gray
Excellent stop in OKC, great for all ages, the trains are awesome, you can explore the caboose, and Allen is a great engineer and tour guide volunteer. Bob does a good job mowing the grass too!
Becky Deitenbeck
Went on the Easter Express train ride. This is the best railroad museum i have visited. They also have a large model railroad and many train cars you can walk around inside. Would definitely recommend this to family and friends.
Ventus keymaster
A fun and cute place. Loved the Halloween decor.
Ryan Massey
Cool museum to see railroad history. My kids absolutely loved the visit!!!
Rick Phillips
If you love trains, like I do, this is a great place to visit. I remember my mother taking me on a train when I was just two or three. Ever since then I've been in love with trains. You can stroll through luxurious club cars, see how the crew lived in the Caboose, and see all of the other displays including an enormous model train set up.
Ellen Smith
We stopped randomly and we all loved it. This museum (of sorts) is free to get in but completely run on donations. Be sure to donate so this piece of Oklahoma history isn't lost! There is one car dedicated to running model cars and some of the other train cars you can get in to and explore. Over all worth the pit stop off of the interstate.
Shawn Barnes
Pretty cool! We were there for a family member's 94th birthday party, and we really enjoyed ourselves...
Robert and Pam Cunningham
Here for Thomas. Grandkids loved it. They also enjoyed Laura's singing and interactive dancing and Marty the magician. Sir Topham hat is still scary for our three year old, but older sister enjoyed him. They also liked the model Railroad layouts, Thomas movie, golf, tattoos, bubbles and bouncy houses. There are two bouncy houses one was empty while we were here.
David Stock
Very friendly knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend!!
Barb Barela
We took the grandkids on the Christmas train and they loved it! They had caroling and hot chocolate and cookies. We had such a fun time but wished the ride was a little longer and the train went a little faster. We would do it again.
Anna Chan
The main reason I stopped with 3 stars is because the current operation is simply too small. The model train exhibit, for one example, is cramped into half of a converted passenger car. Great one time attraction for singles and groups with a separate play area for kids. The model train exhibit would make it appealing as a repeat attraction, if it were in a larger space.
stephanie Smith
Cute. Pretty tiny. Not much to see due to cdc guidelines. Can't go any any carts. There is a small eating area. And a small playground. Plus a cute little gift shop.
Anna Ratliff
This museum is free to the public and has a lot of neat trains to see. The best thing they have is the train rides on the weekends and the seasonal train rides. Day out with Thomas is also a really great event here. They also rent train cars out for birthdays and it's a lot of fun.
Roderick Wells
There's no official tour guide there, is mainly self serve. It's interesting but don't expect to spend a lot of time there. But if you really want to see it it's a great spot to stop but if you're deciding between other places it's not. Not all of the trains are open but you can still climb into some of them.
David K
Went and rode on Thomas the train . My son had a blast. Can't wait to do the Polar Express with him in December. Lots of games for the kids, magic shows as well.
Clare Lin
It would've been really nice to be able to enter some of these rail cars and sit inside. The model railroad exhibit is also closed for COVID. The hand sanitizer at the entrance path was out of juice. There's a little gift shop, and a handful of railcars to ogle. That's about it!
Jorge Gomez
Took my son for a thomas the train event but I had never been here before there was alot of cool things to do and I will be coming back again at a normal day just to check the museum out when they relocate. It is a neat place to take a kid that is under five and especially one like mine that is fascinated with trains.
Jillian Coghill
We did the Polar Express Train and it was amazing. The actors were great. Mask enforcement was a little weak.
Marissa Ragaglia
I have nothing but positive words! Amazing Staff, Fun Train Ride! LOVE LOVE LOVE! Check out all the trains because, you can walk through some of them! great place for Birthday parties!
Craig Davidson
Want to give a shout out to the ORM, we had a birthday scheduled this weekend. With all the lockdown stuff we had to cancel and ORM gave us a full refund no questions asked.
I encourage anyone to come out and visit the ORM, it’s a great little museum to get to see some neat trains and artifacts up close. Best of all is the free admission. Our 2 year old son would spend hours there if we let him.
We look forward to rebooking with ORM once this craziness passes.
Cameron Campbell
We rode the Thomas the train experience, it was fun for the little ones. A trip out and back on a single track. Lasted approximately 30 minutes. Pricey, but enjoyable
Debbie McEachin
Go visit this gem! They do great work in preserving history. And be sure to check them out near Christmas. . .they run the Polar Express!
Ashlee Osterberg
We had a fantastic day with our train loving little one! He was happier than a kid in a candy store. We did the train ride as well and it just made his day!
Jeanie Manion
Wished we could have went in more than 1 trai
Justin Parmley
Traveled from the St Louis area. Easy to find from the highway/street. Very interesting "new" museum.
Easy to transverse even with all the storms recently. Excellent display of engines, passenger cars, etc.
Enjoyed the experience! Hope to come back and find that it has explanded further.
Shannon Landsberger
Excellent railroad museum with train rides every couple of weeks, an indoor railroad set, some Oklahoma history, and always adding new stuff.
Jim Brazell
My son loves trains and he lost his mind. He had the time of his life.
Johnny Hicks
Wish they had more steam engines. Go to the Griffith park railway outdoor museum in Los Angeles for some very useful tips.
Matt Cousins
Great place to learn and explore!
Robert Longhofer
This is a great place, smaller museum but a train ride if you get there on the days on the website. Nice layout. Keep in mind some of the volunteers are mechanics or railroad guys, and some are docents. But everyone is interesting to talk with if you give them a chance! Check it out, you'll like it!
shenee penn
Really cool. Model trains in one car. We rode in the caboose. The little windows up top have seats you just have to climb the ladder. Nice volunteers on the train . Slow and steady ride. Get your tickets punched on the train. Gift shop was nice. Little play structure for kids. Couple other cars to enter into. My neice 3 loved it. A gem in OKC. Been here 37 yrs and finally went...
Ranae Cooper
You can't see the inside of the trains which sucked. I know its due to covid but I would think at least 1 train can be walked in. Its a nice place though. My 3yr old loved seeing actual real trains
Josh Butcher
This place is great. We go every chance we get. My kids love seeing the trains and being able to walk on them. They especially love seeing the car with the model train inside.
Sharon Pruiett
This is a great place for your kids and get an authentic train ride.like they did back in the old day leading up to Christmas they're going to have a Christmas display you should go see it
Bill Shipley
One of the best places to see and cover all things trains. From steam locomotives to todays diesel engine. Old Pullman cars and a dining car. Lots of caboose and on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays you can get a train ride. Great museum of the trains. Worth seeing and it's free to explore here.
Dirk Hooper

Merry Christmas??? I paid over $65 for tickets on the Christmas train at this place. Nice people except the music was supposed to be Christmas music and the guy sang about a rusty chevrolet?? Worst song I have ever heard and I asked about it the girl just giggled thought funny? Never ever would go back to hear that music . Horrible song and terrible voice RUINED THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE for my girls....
Gregg Garrett
Attended the Polar Express train excursion and experience. Would like to visit again with the boys during the day to get the whole experience..... pretty well laid out and maintained.

Great place. Went on the Polar Express Train ride. It was Amazing!!!

This was alright I guess. The train ride is disapointing because, it's not like a tour, you go up the track....then back down the track....blahsay really.
The museum and scale model train layout is awesome though.
Paula Killian
Nice staff. Train rides are fun. My grandson had a wonderful time, and so did I.

Thomas Johnson
It's a free museum run mostly by volunteers. It's not very large but the history is awesome.
william davis
Overall I had a nice time. I was confused about what areas we could go in and if we could climb on the trains or not. Also the door to the restroom on the left did not lock.
Ashley Boyce
My kids loved it but could have made our ride a bit more festive outside of the train.
Robert Thompson
Can for the Thomas the train event.. we had a blast... wish Wichita KS would put on event like this so we did not have to make the drive... that's my only complaint.
