Reviews of OKC Rattlesnake & Venom Museum
michael harris
This is a free museum but donations help. The snakes were amazing, my favorite were the vipers. Its easy to forget how many types of rattle snakes there are until you walk through. The outside might not be much to look at but it's a great place to stop and take a look around
atina tinkham
Wide variety of snakes from all over the world to see. Including a large assortment of rattlesnakes from all over. They also have an amazing Galapagos Tortoise, gators, other tortoises, and friendly and informative owners. No charge...donation based. Please donate like we did though it ensures the reptiles are cared for well. It's worth it!
Samantha Info
Love this place with a passion, and the kids always do as well!! You get to learn about so many different venomous reptiles, and others animals. It’s free, so please leave a donation, that way, it can stay free, and can spread the knowledge!!! Go for an adventure and see what you can learn.
ILOVE 2GARDEN
My son and I really enjoyed our visit! There were actually a variety of venomous snakes, alligators, Oklahoma tarantuala, and a large, beautiful tortoise named Mutley. This museum is truly a hidden gem and I would highly recommend!! What an amazing and educational experience.
James Otis
It was 103 degrees on a July afternoon, but this was still the coolest little FREE hidden gem in town!
We loved it! The boys were completely captivated by the variety of different snakes. It helps to see them in person when trying to identify who’s who. Quite of few that usually aren’t displayed elsewhere. Even tortoises, and alligators! This guy is trying hard, but needs more donations to get more creature comforts.
Michael Davidson
This place is amazing and the staff is very friendly. There is so many different critters there and even a coyote! This a very cool place so you must check it out and entry fee is donation.
Crystal Church
I am so glad I went to this museum today, so many neat reptiles and even a cute little coyote named Jersey that runs around! The staff was very informative and so nice, had such a great experience and will be going back! It is free and they do accept donations.
Chris L.
Interesting little place. Admission is free but they do except donations. Was not expecting to see turtles, crocodiles, alligators, etc. Take the kiddos to see all of the interesting animals.
GREMYENREAPER
Great collection of several species of venomous snakes. They also have crocodiles and tortoises. Definitely going back for another visit!
Clark gable
Super cool place! Tons of animal, well kept enclosures, and friendly staff. They also had a very polite dog lol
Mrs. P Lewis
This place is located in a beautiful small western town, in a small building but the experience is worth it! You get to see snakes of all kind, spiders, scorpions, and turtles! There's a huge tortise that loves to be pet and loves the attention. I highly recommend it!!
Tim Shepherd
We had some time in between some kids games in the area and I visited with my 10 year old. We both loved it!
Alligator, crocodiles, turtles, Galapagos tortoise, a ton of venomous snakes, monitor lizards, venomous lizards, and more. We were able to see them remove a cobra from a habitat to do some cleaning, feed a mamba, feed another cobra, and feed the 450lb tortoise. It’s free! One of the ladies that works there was able to give us tour through the facility and answer all of our questions! I did donate, but there was no obligation to do so.
We spent about an hour there, I’d plan on 30-60 minutes, depending on your interest and if they’re able to do feedings.
John Turner
Super awesome place!! Stopped in this evening for their creature feature with my family. I'm not going to lie, I was skeptical at first but decided to give it a shot because my boys love snakes and I'm so thrilled we did! Not only do they have an awesome assortment of creatures, but they were incredibly knowledgeable and very friendly, answering any questions we had!
Kayla Plazola
Such an amazing place super friendly staff they have an awesome array of reptiles inside a definite must see!!
David Poindexter
Unbelievable collection! Not only snakes, but also other reptiles and creepy crawlies. Visited from out of town, and this was definitely a highlight! Could not believe there was no entry fee for such a cool experience.
Bobby J
Awesome place! Tons of very unique rattle snakes, cobras and more! Some snakes I've never seen and only read about in snake books. I highly recommend visiting! I stumbled across them when I was out and about one day, so glad I stopped!
D3troit Lions

Haley Abrams
The OKC Rattlesnake Museum is a must see!! There was a large variety of snake and other reptiles. It was tucked away but well worth the visit, I was not expecting this small museum to have as much as it did. Well worth the visit!!!!!
Jason Armstrong
Had a wonderful time here at the museum. The staff was very friendly and full of information on the different snake that they had in their collection. They had lots of different reptiles in the museum has well.
Doug Harris
Great surprise! A variety of reptiles, many venomous and exotic. The enclosures are humane and well arranged, and overall clean and easy to view.
It's a small but pleasant, close to home zoo like treat!
Free, but accepts donations (bring cash) and has a selection of t-shirts and knickknacks for sale.
Christopher Morris
Amazing place. Staff are super friendly and so are all the critters. My kids had the most amazing time and the staff helped contribute to that. My kids still talk about that day.
Generally Speaking
Unexpected yet Interesting private collection of snakes, reptiles and spiders located a short walk from the Cattleman’s Steakhouse. We visited while waiting for a table at cattleman’s. No charge to enter and the hosts were very helpful to answer questions.
Jessica Granados

Bothriechis schlegelii
OKC Rattlesnake & Venom Museum was delightful. If you like crocodiles, turtles, lizards, and most of all snakes, this place is for you. They have a large number of native snakes, as well as species you have likely never seen before. As someone who is very enthusiastic about reptiles, I found this place to be better than any zoo I have been to. If you live near or are visiting Oklahoma City, this museum is certainly worthy of your time. Admission is free, however I would recommend donating to them. Go visit, you will not regret it.
Andromeda Mathews
Didn't take many photos, but it was amazing! My boyfriend is a big snake fanatic, so he was like a kid in a candy store. Will definitely be back!
Sarah Johnson
Very awesome place to visit! Especially with kids they can learn & see so much here!
Leigan Worley
What a wonderful place!! My husband took me here on a date and we LOVED it. It was a little cramped, but the displays were amazing. The smell was a little strong - but to be expected with multiple open enclosures.
The snakes were all beautiful and healthy. They had tons of snake skins and fang jewelry to purchase. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming!!
Even though it was a snake exhibit, the Galapagos Tortoise was my favorite!! He just turned 30 and doesn't look a day over 500. He was SO sweet and would have let me pet him all day.
One of the staff brought a constrictor out while his tank was being cleaned and let the kids pet him. I especially loved one of the staff showing me a "ready-to-hatch rattlesnake egg."
The best part was that it's FREE!! What a fun date day when you're on a budget!! We loved it so much we still donated. We will definitely be visiting again!!
Angel SK
Absolutely amazing experience! Beautiful creatures. My kids loved petting Godzilla.
Celia Huntley
Extremely knowledgeable and very kind!!!! Takes time to answer your questions, and show you All about snakes and reptiles!!!!
M S
My nephew and I had a blast today! I highly recommend this fun museum.
Christeen Graff
What an amazing collection of beautiful snakes ! !
Go donate !
Dean C
This museum really was amazing. The variety of cool and interesting reptiles surprised me! The young lady answering questions with a monitor lizard on her shoulder was informative and a pleasure to talk with! Her knowledge sharing really enhanced our experience. Highly recommend this for all ages. Amazing that this was free, but we were happy to donate!
Matthew Pyle
Small, but really cool, and free. They operate on donations. If you love the snake house at the zoo, this will be right up your alley. Don't let the strange location deter you, it is a cool little place.
Elisia Swearingen
Found this place about 2 yrs ago on our first date and loved all facts and knowledge the staff has. We had even told friends about it. Finally got the chance to go back and bring our Littles too. They had so much fun and asked so many good questions about each specimen I could tell they were really engaged in it. Then as we leave my love surprised me with 2 new additions (at a great rice) to my ever growing reptile community. Will update this review with a pic of my newest babies as soon as I have s free min. I would recommend this to anyone looking for something out of the ordinary but not a big time consuming event. Still love my rattlesnake fang necklace from the first trip too.
Ree Rogers
This is one of our absolute favorite places to go. The people that run it are fantastic & we always look so forward to feeding Mutley. HIGHLY recommend this place. Bring a donation!
Johna Hankins
A very cool little museum located in stockyards city! Lots of interesting snakes, a large tortious named Mutley, and iguana and an owl! Definitely worth a stop in.

This place is awesome. Free and frequently updated. A great place to bring the kids time and time again!
Kelli Reyes
Best place we visited in OKC
Sarah Szabo
This place was awesome! Found it randomnly on google maps. They had so many kinds of snakes of all sizes and origins, as well as Nile and Brazilian crocodiles, a snapping turtle, tortoises (including a HUGE one 32 years old named Mutley), a bearded dragon, and other lizards. I learned a lot about different kinds of snakes and bonded with this iguana looking lizard in the back area. They people running it very were nice, and even better, it was actually free. Highly recommended!
Jose Mujica
This is a place you must definitely visit and please bring all the kids they will absolutely Love it! We had a great time, the rattler snake show was way cool, thanks for letting us touch the tortus, monitor and bearded dragon. We loved seeing the cayotee too.
Cali Hernandez
Very friendly and kind staff with some incredible snakes and creatures.
Clare Lin
Megan was the most wonderful guide! She took her time explaining fascinating reptile facts, allowed us to handle Mocha (a lovely nonvenomous kingsnake), and also was so kind to show us a feeding when we inquired if it was possible. I wish her all the best of luck going forward in her animal studies and adventures!
The museum itself is a local treasure! The breadth of reptile types here is really incredible, and just Mutley himself is worth coming to see... PLUS YOU CAN PET HIM! He's a Galapagos tortoise who was born at the OKC Zoo, and the owner's pride and joy. You can also pet a rescue iguana, a big guy named Godzilla! (Of course, there's also no need to pet anything at all, if you don't want to.)
... and did I mention that there's no entrance fee?!
I can't recommend this museum enough. Please come by, learn some things about reptiles, have a good time, and just show your support to these awesome local conservationists!
jared barnard
Not really a Museum, but has lots of snakes and thinks to feed snakes with.
Jamie Bremner
This place was the highlight of my OKC trip. I love snakes and reptiles, this was such a neat place! So many beautiful snakes! Could have spent all day in there. If you visit, say hi to Mutley for me!
Keegan Hymer
So cool! The owner fed some of the snakes while we were there so some of the younger folks could watch. Very cool and interesting place. Lots of snakes; rattlesnakes, vipers, anacondas, king cobra's. Couple tortoises and some alligators and crocodiles. Metal!
greenebuff76

I came here for the first time the other day and it is honestly one of my favorite museums in the city! I found it to be way more impressive than the snake house at the zoo and the owners were such genuine people. It was completely free, although dont forget to leave a donation so they can keep it that way :)
Sarah Childress
This place is really awesome! It looks like a small store front from the outside, but it’s a huge collection of snakes, turtles, lizards, and even an owl inside. My kids said they loved it so much. So did I. It’s way cooler than the snake exhibit at the zoo.
Geno Lytle

Holli Taylor
Awesome place my son would go every day if he could!! Thanks for what yall do!!
Emorose 12
Really cool place, they definitely seem to care for the animals, however one of the big snakes was crawling with mites, he seemed like the only one though... Someone also walked off from the street with a banana and fed it peel, sticker, and all to the tortoise, none of the employees saw him though. They are very friendly and seem to care for the animals I believe they just need money for some upgrades on the small cages and such, otherwise this is a great place to go and have fun!!! I really enjoyed it despite the few iffy things.
Jose Briz
Very cool place in The Stockyards. We drove there for lunch and lingered a little bit to enjoy the flavor of the area. You have to visit this place if you’re around. No cover, just donations, but donate because they take really good care of the animals there.
Hey Hey
I loved being able to take the children to this.It was very informative with information of every snake. The man is very nice that owns it.By donations only but would be very much appreciated by the almost 400 pound turtle they have there and can touch.Amazing! They also have snakes I would never imagine I would get to see other than T.V..The museum also has a baby king cobra....when I say baby..the snake has it's own room and is 8 feet in length and growing 😶.It is a have to family trip or great school trip idea.
Timothy Garrison
The people are very friendly, kid understanding great place to learn about snakes, gators ,spiders ,scorpions

Very wonderful experience at this museum. The owners and wonderful people that are very good with young children. They allowed the children to feed their giant tortoise and pet the python. They were passionate about their work and it was fun to listen to them. They even fed some snakes for us which was brutal but awesome!
It is free but they have a donation bin. Very much worth the trip.

Truly great place to visit to see live snakes up close. My favorite was the king cobra on his throne. The folks here have many interesting stories to tell about the snakes and how they acquired them. Great information about all the exhibits.
Shannon Robertson
We thought it was awesome! The fact that it was free was even more awesome! We all loved it!
Barrett Family
Cool place to go, lots of cobras and other poisonous snakes to see. The turtle exhibit was a little out of place and he seemed sick.
Dp R
Really cool place! Staff was very nice and helpful. Will definitely come back next time we're in OKC.
Ellie S
Kind of a hidden gem. 99% of the exhibits are living, so it's a bit like walking through a small pet shop... Except a lot more informative, and the critters aren't for sale. The staff were friendly and engaged, and we had fun visiting.
Tom Freeman
So many different types of snakes but kids liked Mutley the best! We'll be back for the Sunday Serpent Show!!

Jessica Melton
My five year wanted to go for his 5th birthday and the Absolutely amazing staff was very patient and taught him about everything his little self could think to ask and more! They had a large variety of snakes and most were very active when we went and we even got to watch a few feedings! I can not being to express how thrilled I was with this place when we left! We will be going back!
Danita Gaut
We absolutely LOVE this place. Most unique place around. They all really take the time to share their knowledge about their pets. It shows that they love each of them. Mutley, the 400lb. tortoise, was awesome by himself. What a character. Free entry but please give a donation or buy something to keep it going.
Rodney Criqui
We had our grandkids with us, they really enjoyed it. It was a real education for them. Changed their perspective of how dangerous venomous snakes are. Also what the differences between other none poisonous snakes. High point was a 33 Year old turtle, they got to pet and feed it.
Bill Barber
Lots of snakes, lizards, a few turtles and an owl. Very satisfied with the selection.
Kim Sanchez
This was a great place to visit. Anyone who likes reptiles will love it. 🐊🐢🦎🐍🕷
Thomas Guffey
Love this place so much, they're super friendly.
laura dunn
Very cool! It was amazing to see the variety of different snakes, I never realized how many kinds of venomous snakes there are! Really neat!2
Kelli Westby
I loved going to this place. And the ''best part'' is its ''FREE'' all week long!!!♡♡♡♡
Robert Knight
Very cool little place, packed with many different species of snake, turtle, and lizard, with a few spiders and insects mixed in. An actual King Cobra, gaboon vipers, a black mamba, naming any more would kinda ruin the experience of finding them inside and being surprised they’re hanging out in the stockyards. I had reservations when I pulled up, I care a lot about the welfare of wild animals, but was pleasantly surprised. The owners were very nice to my kids, I hope this place does well enough to expand, they deserve it.
Kayla Hewitt
A super neat place to visit. You must stop and see Mutley. It's only takes about a half hour to see everything. I would highly reccommend!
Tonya Camren
This place gets 5 starts, very neat family friendly and free
Alex Sherman
Only complaint I could possibly make is that the place isn't any bigger! Educational and fun, reptiles you'll never see anywhere else in Oklahoma. Feeding the giant tortoise is a must if you visit!

You can really tell everyone there loves the snakes and takes really good care of them.Everyone needs to see this place. My kids cannot stop talking about it and want to make a trip back to OKCj ust to see it again.

Very cool museum with several varieties of live rattle snakes on display. The owner is extremely nice, and informative. It’s a quirky must see in OKC.

This place is Amazing for it's size! Alot of cool snakes and wealth of knowledge about the different types. We went last week for the first time, learned about a feeding special going on, so we took our girls there today for feeding. That was really cool!!!! We will return as this place begins to grow in popularity and size.
Linda Stevesmomma
My grandson loves it! Their iguana was there for petting. He is very interested in reptiles. The owners are very helpful and knowledgeable. They answered all of his questions.

This place doesn't look like much from the outside but my son and I really enjoyed our visit!
adachic82
I enjoyed it, probably more than my child. Lol. They had more than the RAD in Medford, MN I went to a few months ago. I think my daughter preferred that place because they allowed the kids to touch one of the snakes and take a picture holding it. The place in MN charged $8 for the parent to take a pic with their own cell phone. I did think that was a little ridiculous, but my daughter was happy to have a pic for bragging rights.

Great love snake exhibits, I just felt say for the Galapagos turtle, she did not have to to move around and looked sick.
Jared Varner
This is fantastic. What a great collection of snakes and other animals. I am very impressed

If you're around the area, absolutely worth the trip.

This place is a gem—small, yet highly valuable. Pics are fine; but live and up close identification—priceless. In more ways than one! Fun to take kids “snake hunting” for a particular variety (albino easy to spot for preschoolers) then go home and do a snake craft.

While it is a small museum they have a large selection of dangerous venomous snakes that you can safely view! They also give you a hand out that gives you some of the facts associated with each.
I was most impressed with the King Cobra and the very large Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake. It was a verry impressive display of these guys!
Be sure to stop by and check this place out I think you will appreciate and learn from the friendly folks that work here!

Great place to come if you home school and want to encourage real world connection in Social Studies, and Science. Also literacy as a packet filled with facts about each reptile within the museum is handed out. It is small so if you use mobility devices it will be hard to move and see lower shelf displays. It is a free museum as we all know not many free museum in the OKC area.
Ariana P

Wow this place was awesome, do NOT judge this museum by its exterior, its not much from the outside, but inside is one of the coolest snake experiences ive ever had. Perfect place for kids too they have exhibits right at their level, lots of excellwnt educational materials and a huge variety of snakes in there.
My favorite was the goliath bird eating spider! They do have a few other things like that and a huge galapagos tortoise! My kid loves the huge tortoise.
It is true to visit this place is 100% free but I ended up putting in some donation money simply because it was such a great experience!
Terry Miller

This is the most amazing snake and reptile (and other interesting life!) exhibit you'll find for miles around! It is mind blowing how many different species of snakes tbere are! The owner has a wealth of knowledge, he and his staff are super personable and friendly and it is so obvious he loves what he does and loves and cares so much for all of his "friends" who live there! Today, I asked Mutley the gigantic tortoise to come to me ao I could pet him and after a little bit of coaxing, he did! He loves to get petted! This place is free admission, so relies on donations. It truly is phenomenal! Carl is doing something really good here.

This place is an awesome free stop with a huge amazing tortoise. I dont think anyone should have all these deadly snakes especially in such small cages. This museum is more like a personal collection of over 50 deadly snakes in 20 gallon aquariums built into a wall display. They did a live feeding for a family that stopped in the kids enjoyed watching a little mouse twitch out its last breath between the fangs of a rattlesnake. A testament the the freedom of america i can own as many deadly snakes as i want! Watch what you say here or they might throw you in the pit!
Melissa Moseley
Smell is strong and it's still a little small, but I am happy they have opened it!
