To see 'A Christmas Carol' at Harn Homestead was a special time. It was live outdoors and was fantastic. As a member of the audience it felt as though we were involved.
Highly recommend going this year as it may be the last outside rendition. Bundle up.

We showed up at an off time on a whim while driving by. We were able to walk the grounds and look around. We weren't able to take one of the normal tours but the signage around the grounds were quite helpful.
There is a nice collection of buildings from the late 1800's to early 1900's.
Is you're in the area it is worth checking out. I'm sure the knowledge you'd get from the tour would only entrance the experience.

A rustic getaway right here in OKC
It's right by the State Capitol. Bring a sack lunch; there's a place outdoors (picnic tables) to eat lunch after your tour. It's relaxing, you're amongst the trees, and you get to see houses from the land run era. Also... learn how they made rope, ground corn..and you learn Harn is next to the Capitol because, back in the day, the Harn homestead donated 40 acres so the Capitol could have a place to call home. Who knew?

Very lovely place to step back into time! I remember coming here as a child on a field trip and now as an adult with my homeschooled children. Very friendly staff. Knowledgeable on their history of the Harn family and the plantation. Recommend this for anyone. (Involves a lot of walking.)

I was born in Oklahoma and raised in the NE, I've been back in Oklahoma for at least 25 years and never new this place existed. I've even driven by it countless times over the years. I spoke to another gentleman who has been here in Okc all his life and he never knew this place was existed. If you'd like too learn something give it a shot, it's great for all ages
Shanna Norment
Beautiful venue in the heart of OKC! Very picturesque and rustic. We attended my brother in law's memorial here and it was the perfect place to have a celebration of life party.
Dwayne Beasley
Sons wedding is still being talked about as to just how beautiful the surroundings made for a picture perfect wedding. Nestled amongst the hustle of downtown OKC is a treasure of the past.

Fun place to visit. Great old barnes. The old log house is really intestrestin. The old farm equipment is an eye catcher. Well worth the trip. I recommend the tour.

Beautiful place for a wedding. Small country farm feel while staying in town

What else can be said about this beautiful state other than Oklahoma is Almighty God's country. I love my home state!

Buildings are a bit run down but grounds and tour were nice.

I can’t imagine a more beautiful, peaceful, and historic venue for a wedding. Possibilities are endless with ceremony locations/backdrops, photography settings, and reception set up. The grounds are beautiful and perfect for an outdoor wedding. The barn is lovely for a reception (even before decorations are brought in) and big enough for a large wedding in the undesired event of rain. We were faced with this possibility but the weather cleared and we were able to continue with our outdoor wedding. Because the barn is made of stone, it is significantly cooler inside and there are enormous fans available to circulate air if needed.
Kelly Frye, Events Director, is wonderful to work with, responds quickly to emails and questions, and made our experience at this venue so pleasant. The on site manager was also very responsive and helpful the day of the wedding.
I encourage early booking, even a year in advance if possible, especially if you have a specific date in mind. We booked 11 months in advance and didn’t get our preferred date but were very happy with day that was available. The rental comes with the entire 10 acres, tables and chairs, and two beautiful choices for the wedding party to use in getting dressed. The parking is plentiful. Choosing which beautiful backdrop to use for the ceremony was the biggest difficulty in our entire experience.
Many of our guests had not been to the venue and were extremely complementary of the venue choice. Guests enjoyed walking the grounds and seeing the historic building and taking their own pictures.
We investigated many venues within 1 1/2 hours of OKC and found the cost to be more than competitive and what is available for the price to be far superior to other options.
We highly recommend Harn Homestead and Kelly to work with.
Catherine Carte
Kelly is one of the friendliest, most welcoming people we have worked with while planning our wedding. Her ability to be flexible during all of this Covid-19 mess has been such a blessing. She has made it so easy to have Harn Homestead as our venue, and we couldn't recommend a better place for a wedding here in OKC!

Had a great time here on a school field trip. Mr. Sapper made sure we learned a lot while keeping the students interested and engaged. Recommend for home school groups.
James Hoffman
Not much of a museum but several interesting and hands-on exhibits of 89er time. Well worth a stop.

This is a very interesting place especially since it's located right in the heart of the state Capitol! All the buildings are from different parts of Oklahoma and have a story behind them. The staff is excellent and the school master plays his part exceedingly well! 😂 Children get to have a very small taste of what it would have been like to live in the 1900's. Definitely an experience all should have!

We saw Lyric Theater's production of A Christmas Carol and I highly recommend it! It was easy to get to and parking was simple. The production was very creative and enjoyable!

The entire property is very large. It consists of a few homes, a large Barn, a pretty gazebo, a small school, and several beautiful metal sculptures scattered all around. We walked around and found everything very interesting – the original buildings, the furnishings, the artifacts, clear labeling, and informative placards. We were also impressed by the efforts of the Oklahoma City Historical Preservation Commission to preserve everything as nicely as possible.
Willow “Adventures with Teddy” Mitchell
Really neat place. A bunch of old buildings, log cabins, event barn for events. We are cleaning up the broken trees after the ice storm. Recommend checking it out if you are in Oklahoma City and need something free to do or a wide open space to hang out. Within view of the capital building.
Lisa Ross
I'm a third grade teacher from Edmond and we visited your place last Friday and had a fantastic time. Since we study Oklahoma history, it was very relevant and the kids enjoyed "going back in time". Thank you for all you did to make our visit a great experience.
Bill Shipley
Just a few block south of the Oklahoma State Capitol steps sits a homestead own by the Harn family who actually donated the land for the Capitol building. Great old home and barns. Once a working farm right where it sits. Great venue for group outings and picnics. Beautiful well maintained grounds.
Kyle Ross
My wife and I recently had our wedding here. It is an amazing beautiful awesome affordable place to have a wedding our pictures turned out amazing highly recommend and thanks to the staff super friendly and easy to work with they truly care about this place.
jesswhatsername
Very educational, lots of stuff for kids to do, but also plenty if you just want to take a walk for yourself, the barn event area is beautiful.
And there is surprisingly AC in most buildings!
Danielle Mitchell
I am a third grade teacher in OKC and we had the privilege of visiting Harn Homestead in mid April. Our experience was absolutely fantastic! As one can imagine, bringing 60 eight year olds on a field trip is an adventure in itself. The staff was wonderful! They did a fantastic job teaching our energetic students about the land run and Oklahoma history. They taught teamwork and compassion. Absolutely wonderful experience!
Chloe Specht
Came here for a university function. The grounds are nice, but not amazing. Employees are rude and bust through the crowd without so much as an "excuse me". Both barns a small. Could be nice for a small, rustic event.

Each year my 2nd grade class from Dibble Elementary visits Harn Homestead. Our experience has always been amazing! We have done both the regular tour and the Land Run tour. I can't choose which one is my favorite. I have also visited with my family. Mr. Sapper has always been so amazing at answering all my emails and phone calls quickly and is always very kind. He never seems rushed though I know he has a full schedule. His tours are always full of energy (which is fantastic for my little people). He takes the time to answer their questions and speaks to them in a language they can understand. I so appreciate having him as our liaison. On our most recent visit Mr. Sapper could be seen on his hands and knees helping my little friends set up their first tent and smiling as if there was no place else he'd rather be.When I visited with my family, Mr. Sapper took us on a personal tour of the main house and explained everything about its history in great detail. During our trip to the regular tour Mr. Sharp ( a man who volunteers his own time) did the history of the school house tour. He was so amazing! The kids genuinely loved hearing his tales of the pioneer school age and his enthusiasm while reliving the past with them. He also did the pioneer general store during our most recent visit. I cannot say enough good things about his patience and profound love of history. He answered all their silly questions (as well as their wonderful questions) with a smile on his face. He also taught me a thing or two! I could tell he genuinely loved volunteering his time with them. We will absolutely be visiting Harn Homestead again for many years to come! Thank you to all those at Harn Homestead who make it such a fantastic place to learn and have some fun!
Kimberly Bradford
Went to an outdoor wedding. It would be nice if they had a sound system that you could hear outdoors. It was kinda hard to hear. Other than that it was great!
Christopher Nance

My Best friend and I were just looking around Oklahoma City at all the history when we came across the Harn Homestead online. We decided that we would like to tour this and learn the history. Once we arrived we were greeed with the kindest man who welcomed us on the property. We followed the walkway to the gift shop where were greeted yet again with kindness. The young lady told us she would be giving us the tour and would meet us on the porch of main house. We were instructed to tour the remaining property on our own. This home and the land surrounding it is so full of history. I loved the stories that were shared and how well preserved it is. What an honor to see.
Dacia Bergeson
We did a homeschool field trip here. It was a great experience for my kids. The people that gave the tours were knowledgeable and kind. We learned a lot and had fun!
Caleb Martin
Check this place out if you want to learn about some of the history of Oklahoma. There are several historic buildings on the property and the story behind the house and the people who owned it is pretty interesting. You'll also find the surrey with a fringe on top from "Oklahoma!" in the barn. Their Territorial Christmas event is a lot of fun; my historic dance group has performed there a couple of times.
Honest Person
I loved it! It was so much fun and my kids really enjoyed it. I wish everything was open though. Guess we went on a day some stuff was put up. But can't wait to go again!

Always a cool experience every time I’m here whether for a wedding or just a field trip. It’s an oasis in the city. And a blast from the past.
Wesley Money
I was there a few years ago. It is a nice place to see just how far that we have come from that point of time. Sometimes I think that we need to still be in that time point. With all the advancement we have done. We are now in a faster pace. We might of missed something.
Lola Maxwell
I take my 2nd grade class here EVERY year because of the wonderful hands-on learning. Mr. Sapper especially keeps me coming back. His kind, thoughful way of dealing with the children while at the same time maintaining decipline gives my students the ability to step back in time without any worries for their safety. Any time I have had a special need or concern, Mr. Sapper has immediately found a way to meet that need. I will continue to bring my students here and look forward to it every year.
Tim Locke
A wonderful museum that has examples of the lifestyle during Oklahoma's early days. A 1 room schoolhouse, farmhouse, barns and quite a bit of old equipment. Right next to the state capitol.
Patsie Guy
I like the place. The play was very good. The building reminded me when I was little growing up on the farm.
