Reviews of Lotz House Museum
L Floyd
If you are interested in American history you will enjoy touring his house. The man who built it was a wood worker and he used this house to showcase his talent. The staircase is beautifully made as well as many other details in the home. The house was located in the middle of the historic Battle of Franklin. There are still bullet holes in the house. They don’t allow photos to be taken inside. They have a gift shop if you would like to purchase a souvenir.

Definitely different than any other guided tour we've taken. Chuck was great, he made it fun for everyone. He was engaged with his audience and made it personable for all, we were in a larger crowd too-5 or 6 different parties, around 12 to 15 people total. Very impressed.
Justyna Jozwik
Great tour for the history buffs and those that enjoy viewing historic buildings! Tour guide was hilarious and very knowledgeable about the surrounding civil war battles (could point out where your state's regiments were off the top of his head) and what happened to the family living in the house. Beautiful period furniture and wallpapers make you feel as if you stepped back in time.
Sarah Price
My husband and I just finished the tour at Lotz House. Chuck did a phenomenal job! He was full of information. And humor, which I find an important part of tours. There is nothing worse then a dry, boring guide. Chuck is the opposite of that. We absolutely recommend the tour!
Gary Brown
Passionate tour guide (Kelly 🙌) was very knowledgeable, and unlike many other historic home tours weaved the history of the area and Battle of Franklin into the tour! Would highly recommend if visiting Franklin.
Date: 8 January 2022
Standard adult admission: $12 (discounts available)

The curator was very informative and had answers for every question we had. His story telling of the events happening to the house before, during, and after the battle paints a vivid and clear picture. We learned a lot from this experience and would suggest it to others, and for less than $15 a person it's well with it!
Tori R
Chuck was great! He did an excellent job of making each person feel welcome and painting a picture of the history of this home. ‘Lotz’ of great information. Highly recommend.
Cherubina Tafilowski
What a fun find! 30 min drive from Nashville, it’s worth the visit. Mr Burn was our tour guide and he was informative, friendly and interesting. We really enjoyed all that he had to tell us about the area! Thanks!
C Hall
We took short tour through it was well maintaned small house. Tour a bit expensive. $14. You cannot take pictures inside. Right across street is Carter house go there first in visitot center where you get tickets for that tour there are coupons for $1 off Lotz house
Andrew Clinard
One of the best house tours I've had in many years. Make sure you get Chuck as a tour guide; he is a retired teacher and it shows in his professionalism and his ability to engage any audience, from experienced historians to families.
The tour not only covers the battle, but also the Lotz family, their history before the war, and their life afterwards. I would encourage anyone who is in town to make it a point to visit.
Elaine Messineo
I love American history, and this was a tour that didn't disappoint. I had no knowledge of the battle of Franklin and our tour guide expertly brought it to life. The house itself is full of period antiques that are out of this world. The paintings are outstanding, especially "black sheep". I would go again.

Great tour! Seth was our guide. He is very knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor. Highly recommend this tour for history buffs or the average person who did not know about the Battle at Franklin like me.
Lisa Kaliski
OMG! What an awesome place. Thomas was a wonderful tour guide. He told the story of the Lotz family and the Battle of Franklin with such passion it was easy to picture myself there during the battle. Highly recommend checking out the Lotz House!
Beth Hepworth
Chuck was an amazing tour guide! He individualized the tour, was very very knowledgeable and you could tell he was passionate about history! Couldn’t recommend more! Absolutely worth the stop.
Kay Dean
Wonderful experience and a plethora of knowledge/artifacts here. If you are visiting Nashville or Franklin, make time to visit this house. You will be greeted by two wonderful staff members. Chuck, a former history teacher, did our tour and we can't praise him enough. He was very engaging and full of information to share. You can tell that he really cares about the history and property of this house. Be sure to check out the restaurant across the street. It is connected to the history of the home.
Susan Walker
Chuck was our tour guide and he was GREAT!! Very knowledgeable! My husband and I felt like we watching a history documentary. I would highly recommend stopping by.
Brittany Adams
Such an amazing piece of history, and the staff know that history super well!!! Chuck was an amazing guide through the home and history of the Lotz family, who were smack dab in the middle of one of Tennessee's fiercest battles. Literally had bullet holes in the chimney and cannonballs coming through the roof! Please go visit this amazing site!!!
Donna Pivonka
Chuck did a great job sharing the history of this beautiful house and the Lotz family. This was our final stop after tours of Carnton and Carter homes. Recommend to tour all 3 to get the complete picture of the Franklin battle.
Spurlock Fam
My daughter and I love touring old houses. We took the Women’s History Tour with Kelly and had a great time! Kelly is super passionate about sharing, and we had a great time! ❤️
Stormy Lee
Seth and Jonathan are knowledgeable, funny and very personal able young men. Seth can answer, and with humor, any questions. Jonathan gave me a little bit of modern history , and information for a great scenery ride! Seth, this is your " Alabama" friend, with the spitoon! Very available, and not pushy on history reproduction items. Worth a visit just to speak with them!
Brian Ashbach
A very interesting tour, the tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the battles fought in the area. Also very knowledgeable about the Lotz family. If you are in the area I would suggest stopping for the tour if you have an interest in history.
Julie Evans
Hubby and I just loved our tour with Thomas. Feb 18, 2023. I would recommend this knowledgeable tour guide to anyone, and the Museum itself was great too. His heart felt presentation really touched us both. Thanks Thomas!
kenna bunch
Chuck was very knowledgeable about the lotz house and the history surrounding the time period!! i would go back for a haunted tour! i was sad i couldn’t get the chance to interact with the spirits of the house. but it was lovely to hear the stories from chuck & the cashier (i couldn’t remember her name but she was a very sweet woman!) if you’re in the nashville area and looking for something to do, get out to the lotz house and learn some history of the area!! i’m a big history buff so it was really interesting to hear the stories of the house & the franklin battle going on around that time period. Mr. Lotz was a fantastic wood worker!! very impressive to see some of his remaining work along with his daughters art work! this was worth it!!!
Natalie Frank
Amazing tour!! Chuck is so knowledgeable about history and goes in great detail on thr battle outside the Lotz home! Definitely recommend this tour!
Chris Cordes
The tour guide was very knowledgeable. Overall it was well done. The house is limited by the fact it is just a house. The upkept is fine. Interesting little slice of history.
Jen C
If you're ever in the Nashville/Franklin area, we highly recommend stopping at the Lotz House Museum for a guided tour. It was fun, informative, and not boring in the slightest.
Julie Olah
A tour started just as we got there. Seth was our tour guide. He was funny, informative and very knowledgeable about the house and battle that took place in Franklin, TN.
Linda Becar
Lovely house with a great tour guide. The tour guide really gets into his role and the hustory enthusiasactically Lots of history to learn about and take in here. You bad you're not allowed to take pictures inside.
Cecilee Shull
Seth our tour guide was great. He was animated and funny. He shared lots of tidbits that you would normally not know about the battle of Franklin and the family history of the owners of the original house. The house is operated by a 501(3c) and is non-profit. Please visit so that this piece of history stays standing!! So much of Nashville and the surrounding areas are being turn down for mega hotels or huge tourist destinations. Save the history of this amazing area!
PitBull Patriot
Very informative and interesting. Love history the fact that the man built the house from the ground up and crafted all the wood work himself was amazing hats off
Gary Morales
The Lotz family endured the battle of Franklin as civilians and their home still bears the scar of the Civil War. No pictures allowed inside, but please trust when I say it is worth the visit. Our tour glad was pleasant and knowledgeable. I recommend coming here the same day you tour the Carter home across the street. There is a small gift shop.
Paul Tomasello
Excellent tour guide was very knowledgeable. Just amazed at0 the history of the town of Franklin
Paul Blumstein
Chuck, the docent, gave an interesting tour. A lot of history was connected with this house and Chuck knew it all and conveyed the information in an easy to understand way. Well with the time and money spent.
Josh & Mindi Montgomery
Chuck was our tour guide and he was the best! The house is full of history and intrigue. It’s truly a gem!
Greg Gonzales
In plain sight lies a very interesting story and gem of the area. Though the overall tour of the Lotz House is small, there is an enormous wealth of knowledge to be seen and heard. The tour guide, Seth, in our case, was highly educated on all aspects of the home, the story, the battle, and the history. It is well worth the price of admission. I would recommend you read up on the house, the battle, and the family, that way you have questions to ask as you walk through the home and are taken back to the end of the civil war. I appreciated the intricate woodwork of Mr. Lotz as well as the painting by his daughter and other pieces from the era. Overall great experience and great way to spend a couple of hours.
Jul ofDenial
Awesome tour and American Civil War (Battle of Franklin) presentation. I was riveted. The tour guide brings history to life as if it were happening now. It's well worth the time and effort if you're interested in culture and war history. The Lotz House Museum is beautifully restored and preserved and will transport you back in time. The tours are small and discussion is welcome. There is also a gift shop on site. Many delicious eateries can be found nearby as well. It's a great way to spend any day of the week - window shopping, finding unique decor and gifts and simply enjoying being alive and loved.
Vickie Norris
This home is rich with history, from the workmanship of the original owners to the historical tours given by the staff. It takes you back in time to enjoy and learn about the past. Mr. Thomas is the most entertaining tour guide I've ever listened to he definitely keeps your attention the amount of knowledge this man knows from the past with dates, times, people and places is remarkable! Then you have sweet Kelly she is who is a joy to be around and listen to she's really good with the children on the tours, and in the gift shop. Mr Chuck who used to be a teacher is also extremely knowledgeable and has done countless reenactments of the battles. During the haunted tours you will also encounter a volunteer Mrs Nikki who is amazing as well. The home in itself is just amazing from the stairs case, to the fireplaces. The beautiful antiques that are in the home. The owners have such a love and admiration for this home and it shows from the upkeep to their workers and volunteers. It truly is a must see! I have been their several times and will continue to go back and enjoy this beautiful historical place that just reminds you of home.
Pamela Coughlin
Great home and museum! Seth really was an excellent tour guide!
Jess Wilson78
WOW!!! I’m so thankful we decided to visit. I had no idea about the history of this place. The tour guide did a great job of painting the picture of life during the Civil War. I was very impressed by the amount of relics inside the home that were also original to the home. I would love to go back for the cellar dig and ghost tour! I heard from a former employee this house is EXTREMELY haunted 😬😳
Paul Wroblewski
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the battlefield tour. Our guide Seth was terrific and very passionate about the history surrounding this site. He also had a great sense of humor and was very polite! We loved it!!
Ophelia Grace777
Friendly and professional staff. I like how personable the tour guide was and was fascinated about the little details and artifacts in the home. I bought an old 1800s lock 🔒 as a curiosity. A must see place & tour in Franklin. …
Meaghan Prendergast
Seth was amazing. The stories were interesting and he had great jokes. House was beautiful inside and out.
Peggy Murphy
Great place to visit with lots of history…you might even catch a glimpse of a ghost. We came here over the weekend but didn’t have enough time for a tour. I did stop by the gift shop and purchase a few books. The lady in the gift shops name was Kelly? She was so very kind and super informative about the property. Next time I am in Nashville I will definitely make time for the tour.
P.S. Be sure to ask about the twins that may or may have not departed from upstairs.
Christine Boulton
This was a great tour with an informative guide. You cannot take photos inside but that is ok because it makes you pay more attention to what you are being told. I learned so much here about the civil war. I cannot remember our guides name but she was a very knowledgeable lady in her 20’s....maybe 30’s but doubt it haha.
sandra webster
Seth was our guide. He was super knowledgeable, witty and got to know the tour participants during the time we were with him. I wish we could have taken pics inside the house but that was typical of all the Franklin museum houses.
Brittany Wilson
Highly recommend doing this very informative historical tour. Our guide was Chuck and he is so captivating this his story telling skills. Your lasted slightly over an hour and well worth it.
Colleen Mila
Great visit. Learned a lot of interesting local history. Our guide was very knowledgeable. Used a very inexpensive Groupon.
joshuasmith417
Very informative and educational Chuck the guide was awesome I have been to Gettysburg and I learned more here about a battle than I ever did there.
Amber Holder
Chuck, our tour guide, is amazing at what he does. He makes history come alive during the tour. Beautiful home in the middle of a tragic story. Go see this tour!!!
Lavonda Curtis
My husband and I were in Franklin celebrating our 34th anniversary and we decided to tour the Lotz House. Our tour guide Seth did an amazing job. It was very interesting. When we were standing in front of the house and Seth was telling us where the battle would have taken place there was a loud sound of thunder. It was a millisecond of what the Lotz family probably heard that day. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Thank you Seth for doing an amazing job. We highly recommend touring the Lotz House Museum.
Joe Petergal
This was a great experience! The house is full of beautiful antiques, artwork, and evidence of the violence that happened right outside the door. Chuck was very knowledgeable and charismatic.
Steph M
Interesting little gem. Small tour size ensured knowledgeable guide could answer questions and personalize the tour.
Jamille S Hawkins
Very interesting tour. I love history lessons.
Cara Davis
The house is amazing. Our tour guide was super nice and extremely knowledgeable. I love old houses and my husband is interested in Civil War history. We both thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
Emma Nation
Seth the tour guide was super. Knowledge and funny. We learned tons. Definitely a great stop. (Good for families with kids too)

If you are in Franklin Tennessee this place should definitely be on your list to visit the history here is incredible.
Leila Duka
If in the area, the Lotz house is a must see! Even if you aren't a history buff or enjoy history a whole lot the guided tour will change your mind. My tour guide Seth was absolutely wonderful! He was a great storyteller, extremely intelligent, and kept the whole group engaged. The stories are eye opening and the staff are well informed and friendly. Would recommend to all!
Kyra
The tour of this house is full of history, all be it, not all of the Lotz family artifacts, but still interesting none the less. Our guide was much more interactive and full of stories than some of the other historical tours in the area. If you buy the value ticket package you can also see the Carter house and the Carnton plantation for a great price.
sarah
Beautiful place! The tour was very informative, and Seth was an excellent guide. I did feel that it was a tad bit too crowded since the rooms in the house were pretty small, but I guess that's also my fault for coming later in the afternoon, lol. Overall, it was a great experience.
Colyn Wheaton
I wasn't sure what to expect going into the tour, but the tour was fantastic and I'm so glad that we took the tour! So much history told to us by our tour guide. You could tell that our tour guide was from the area and knew a lot about the history, civil war, and Franklin. In our short stay in TN - this was by far our favorite thing we did the weekend were were in town.
patty dillon
It was very interesting and it was surprisingly great. Kelly was a very good guide. Any history buffs should go
Tiffany Tye
Wow!! What an experience!! We’re huge Civil War history fans (my husband and I) and we came with my parents and daughter. Our tour guide, TJ, engaged all of us. He told so many interesting stories and details! History came alive today!
Peter Wroblewski Jr.
Such a good ghost tour. We saw one!!!
Jessica Ahmed
A lovely peice of history preserved here. The tour guide was very informative and entertaining. Hopefully this beautiful home will stay available for tours for years to come. I have pictured a part of the floor where a cannonball fell through the roof.
Tim Both
A must stop for anyone interested American history. I arrived later in the afternoon and was able to jump into a tour with tour guide Chuck aka Fidel Castro. It was very clear the man behind the massive Wilford Brimley mustache not only shares and educates history with all those around him but has also live a lot of it himself. I found the tour to be super informative and also very entertaining due to Chuck. This house is very well preserved and just full of period artifacts and will not disappoint. Take some time out of your shopping and BBQ filled day and patron this truly amazing part of our legacy. Great gift shop with more then just your normal "trinkets". Chuck recommend a book to me about the Battle of Franklin called "Five Tragic Hours" and I have not been able to put it down.
Michele Cervetti
The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and willing to answer questions. What a great story of our not so distant history and the struggles one family endured. Beautiful home
DHS 87
Knowledgeable tour-guide willing to answer any question (had the answers). Battle of Franklin was larger than most people think. Texas troops were there in 1864. Lotz is the owner of the old farmhouse that was used as a hospital during the battle. Nice original artifacts from the actual battle. This was worth it!
Brenda Wood
Seth, our tour guide was wonderful! He was very knowledgeable and kept us interested throughout the tour. It was a very eye opening tour of how regular families were impacted by the civil war.
Stefanie Watson
Took the Women's History Tour. Guide was very knowledgeable and loved answering our questions. Fun to learn more about local and civil war history.
Megan Murphy
My friends and I loved touring this house! Our tour guide Seth was engaging and fun, and the history of the family, home, and what happened there during the Battle of Franklin were all interesting things to learn more about.
JG MANAGEMENT
Amazing experience! Jonathan our tour guide was very informative and detailed with the history. I definitely recommend stopping in and experiencing the beautiful home and all it has to offer!
Madelaine McLaughlin
We had such a great time at the Lotz house. Our tour guide, Seth, was very informative and passionate about the history of the house and the family. I loved how he personalized the stories he told - I'm from Canada and my partner is from Ireland, and he worked in several interesting anecdotes about Canadian and Irish presence in the Civil War. We had a great time and would heartily recommend the Lotz house to anyone visiting the area! Also be sure to check out the gift shop as they've got some really great stuff!
T.L. Coulter
Years ago a friend and I went to visit the Lotz house. Unfortunately it was closing, but they let us take a quick look around. After 10 years later, we are back and got the full tour with Thomas who is just amazing. His knowledge of the history of Lotz house and the battle of Franklin was more than we could have hoped for. I highly recommend!
Rochelle
Me and my husband stumbled upon the lotz house tour. It was our favorite tour out of all the tours we did over our trip to Franklin. Our tour guide brought this history to life! We loved how much they told about the house and everything in it. Very interactive, you can ask questions throughout the tour which was so great. You felt like you were with kind family members. We will recommend to anyone going to Franklin.
Jason Laser
Great tour! Well worth the money. I was very skeptical looking from the outside, but our tour guide Seth was exceptionally knowledgeable on everything. He definitely had a good combination of humor and facts. It was interesting to hear the history of the house, family, town, and battle.
Darren Barnett
Really enjoyed the tour with Kelly yesterday. The house is interesting but it's the civil war history as well as the domestic life story that brings everything to life!
Eli_S jolieangelo2001
Oh goodness what a gem. The guide was a bit whacky but very professional he always asked us questions and had so much knowledge abt the civil war. The gruesome details were kept very mellow because my 8 yr ild daughter was present, and when he wanted to tell the others something that was not meant for my 8 yr old to hear he announced very politely what he was going to say so I had time to wonder off and spared my child the sorrow. I do not recall his name but he was very sweet absolute buff in history and very theatrical. Which I good for an attraction. The house is full of so much beauty and very well cared for. The gift shop is absolutely amazing. And one feels like you have just stepped in to 1700s with a slight modern twist. I do wish there was a tiny caffe where one could absorbe the information while being surrounded by the history. Something similar to Belleview plantation. But still I was very happy we went here. There is a restaurant near by with some funny name of pigs or something. The food was amazing but the staff not so much. I won't be visiting the restaurant again but I will most definitely be coming back to the Lutz house.
X Hunter
We visited Lotz House with the family. Took the 1 hour house tour. Seth was our guide and did a good job. He was knowledgeable and encouraged questions. “Lotz’’ of Civil War history and artifacts. Well worth the admission. Happy to support a local museum.
luke omiotek
Our tour guide Seth was about to answer all our questions and told us every fact he knew about the house. Everyone was friendly and I recommended everyone to go.
Tim Cannon
Amazing history and great tour guides really bring the history of Lotz House to life!
Kris Davis
Fantastic tour! Chuck is a wealth of knowledge and was very personable. Highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting the Franklin area.
Mary ann Citraro
The tour was very interesting, the guide was very informative. When we walked into the house we thought it was going to be a quick 15 minutes and out, but two hours later we were immersed in the Lotz family and the hell they endured during battle.
Robert Finlayson
Chuck was an amazing guide beyond knowledgeable great experience
Kari Federico
The person who did the tour was very informative, nice and added in humor where he could.
My areas of critique are that due to the weather being as cold as it was in the day we visited and the house not being 'heated', us standing around in one spot for a long time during his explanations got us cold. In the beginning, we ended up with two other families that tagged along after the tour had already began about 15 minutes in. He then quickly ran the 1st family through the first quarter of it again, but thankfully he told the other family to just pick up where we were.
Personally, I feel he should have waiting to re-brief BOTH families at the end.
It made for a longer tour since there was a repeat of the first quarter of it.
They didn't want photos taken at all(hence me not being to add photos to this review), not sure why when every other place I've been to for museums, etc don't mind photography, they just tend to ask for no flash, but they said no photography at all here.
The staff was very kind though.
Dave Horton
Very experienced and knowledgeable tour of Lotz House Could not have asked for a better guide than Chuck! Well worth the reasonable cost and time. Gave real insight into the time period and the family!
Ellie Cervantes-Gros
Wonderful place to learn about history first hand. Please take the tour! Well worth your time and money.
Ryan Stone (Ryu)
The tour here was just packed full of information. It's great for those with a little history knowledge or a lot. My tour guide Chuck was fantastic! Don't be afraid to ask questions. There's a lot of history around the house, with the Lotz family, and the furniture within the house.
Brandy Powell
Seth was a wonderful tour guide. It’s a Beautiful home, with tons of interesting history. Highly recommend touring
John Drolet
My wife and I went here on our last day in TN. She loves history and I will say I enjoyed it too. The tour is an 1hour long. They have other events that we would go back and do also.
abigail van horn
We had a great visit and tour at the Lotz House. Our tour guide Chuck was great and very knowledgeable. It was an excellent experience and would recommend to everyone!
Chris Brown
Haunting stories of the past. Beautiful home. You should visit all of the Franklin houses!
Sandie Iverson
While not knowing a lot of the details about the Battle of Franklin this tour of the Lotz House was a good way to be introduced to what happened and how the battle affected the Lotz family. There are a few original carved pieces left in the house but the rest of the furnishings are from other places and create an atmosphere of how people lived during that time. Our guide Seth gave an enjoyable narration and wasn't boring. Plus he also brought me a chair to sit on when it was uncomfortable for my back to stand for a long time which I really appreciated. Also recommend to buy your tickets on Groupon first.
Thomas Garner
Great place to take family or friends for a little historical trip with rich civil war history. And our tour guide was from my girlfriends and I’s hometown. Love the staff and the tour.
Robert Bobinsky
I was so unprepared for such an amazing experience! My tour guide, Chuck, was amazing! So educated in the history of not only the house itself, but the happenings from the area. He really made history come alive!
If you're in the area, definitely take this tour!
Thanks again, Chuck!
Kristy Branson
Such a wonderful tour--so educational and informational! Highly recommend for all ages!!
Mandy Bentley
The Lotz House is one of the most remarkable places I’ve ever been! And our tour guide, Seth, was very knowledgeable about the history of the house, the artifacts inside, and the family who resided there during The Battle of Franklin. He also made the tour personal and he had a wonderful sense of humor. The gift shop in The Lotz House was small but mighty! At first glance it would seem as if only a few gifts and souvenirs were contained inside. But after an in depth look, this little shop had everything you could ever want to take home with you. You can also order online or over the phone. Overall I give The Lotz House five stars. I would love to visit again sometime!
Sun Shyne
Far one of the best historical tours ever experienced. Very educational and great attention getter. Highly recommend ask for Seth as your tour guide.
Court Pugh
Great tour and the guide was great. Thanks Mr. Burns!
Priscilla Joy
Had a great time touring the house yesterday! The history was fascinating, and our tour guide Seth was very engaging and funny. Would recommend going if you love history👍 …
Richard Dierenfield
Bought a Groupon and took a tour around lunch. Tours run every few hours so be prepared to wait if you missed one. Lots of standing and walking but lots of cool history in that area.
Tracey Pullum
We really enjoyed our tour of the beautiful Lotz house. Chuck gave us the tour and did an excellent job of telling us the history of the house and former occupants. Very interesting and informative!
Tim Brock
Very informative. Enjoy our tour guide Chuck. Would recommend to visit.
Jim Tallant
Seth our guide did a great job sharing how the Lotz house played a key role in the Civil War. Lots of artifacts to look at.
Mila F
Wonderful place to add a personal story of Lotzs’ family to general story of Civil War. Great passionate knowledgeable volunteer docents.
Christine M
We took the tour yesterday and everything about it was great. The tour guide did an excellent job of telling the family story in detail. The house and the furniture are beautiful. No pictures allowed inside. I definitely recommend this tour if visiting Nashville.
Stayton G Slaughter
This was a very cool tour. I loved seeing the beautiful woodwork of Mr. Lotz and hearing about the part the house played in the battle. Our guide was very informative. I think that the only bad thing I can say about this tour was that it contradicted a few small details from the other tours, but I wouldn’t blame it on any of the 3 historic houses we went to on the tour. Great tour overall and a cool museum!
Deb Merritt
Interesting tour of a family home that lived in Franklin during the battle of Franklin. Tour guides know the history and gladly discuss it with you. $12 PER ADULT. No photography allowed.
Tara7355
Seth was our tour guide today he was very knowledgeable and also added some humor to the tour which was great as a lot of info is taken in during multiple house tours. Helps you remember what he is talking about. Highly recommend this tour, learned a lot about the battle of Franklin from touring the lotz house and the Carnton plantation alone before touring any others!
gloria gail pacific
Wonderful tour, the guide wove together the story in a way that you felt it. So knowledgeable.
Go here, it's great!
Jim Joseph
If you're visiting the beautiful town of Franklin you must stop at this Historic site. To know Franklin is to know it's History. This is a great start.
Lisa J
Our 1st visit to this museum & going back there for a ghost tour later on.
Jennifer Syamala (Jen S)
I thought that the Lotz House was a really exciting place to visit. The lady who was the tour guide did a great job and I loved learning about all of the history and the women's fashion. 5 stars for sure. They even have ghost story tours I would love to come back to see that. Ella Syamala age 12
Andrea Asher
This was a great place to start our day in Franklin!! Staff was very nice and enthusiastic about sharing the history of this talented family!
Steve Hewkin
This is a very interesting and significant place in our history. Excellent tour and I'll be back because there was so much information about the family that it can't be absorbed in one visit. It's such a great testament to those things that have made America great.

Really unique experience. Thomas, our tour guide, was an amazing wealth of knowledge. He really brought the battle of Franklin to life. Highly recommend
Rann Johnson
My family and I had a great time learning about the history behind this house and the family that lived within in. There is a fascinating museum with many unique artifacts, and our tour guide Seth was fantastic. He was very entertaining and engaging.
Dee S.
GO NOW! Fantastic tour with bits of Lotz family perspectives of the Civil War throw in. It brought history ALIVE!
Our guide did a wonderful job conveying the history of the area & this average family's life in an easy to understand way. Even though our group was fairly big, questions were answered & encouraged. Also, the guide made sure everyone had an opportunity to see & experience this gem of Civil War era craftsmanship.
A fantastic tour with a very reasonable price. Very accommodating & engaging.
Steve Gambill
Very interesting historical review of that era of time at this particular location. Glad I went to see what it was all about
Monica V
So informative, if you are a history buff this should be on your list of places to see.
Cherie DeBlois
The tour was excellent with a well informed guide. Seth told the story of the battle, and added in special information about each guests home state participation (along with some cheesy jokes). I did not feel the presence of a spirit personally, but the house is a gem of a piece of history.
Sylvia Gonzalez
Chuck was awesome, very knowledgeable, extremely friendly and provided such a wonderful tour. Loved the fact that we are able to view the rooms and not through a plexiglass.
Anthony Jones
Great little house full of history. Seth was a great guide.
I would recommend a full day "house hopping" in Franklin.
Brenda Joan Bivens
The young lady tour guide was very knowledgeable and was interesting to listen to! The period furnishings were beautiful my husband and I enjoyed our guided tour very much ❤️
Cindy Jenkins (Cinn Jenn)
Informative tour with personable guide. It's just rather small. The tour guide did indeed help me to feel a personal connection to the home and family in particular, and the historical times in general.
Debbie Nault
This was amazing. We were greeted as we walked up to the house. The history and stories were so interesting. We honestly didn't know what to expect. So great. We are fairly new to the area and have a lot of family and friends that visit, this will Definitely be on our go to!
Update:
Still just a great visit!!
Eric Leisner
Request Seth! Great tour guide and very informative!
Judy Schliesman
What an interesting tour! Our guide, John, was wonderful! He was funny, knowledgeable and answered all of our questions! I would highly recommend this tour as a way to learn about the Battle at Franklin.
Gail Guarini
LOVED the tour guide Thomas! So informative, the history behind the house was so interesting. Definitely tour the Lotz house when in Nashville!
Heidi Dini
We totally recommend this tour if you are interested in the civil war and how it effected a family that was caught up in it. Our tour guide, Allison, was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic! Unlike other tours you were actually allowed to enter the rooms rather than viewing from the doorway. Highly recommended. Tour lasted over an hour and with a Groupon only cost $6 each.
Debbie Bender
We love the town of Franklin & was very excited to go thru this Museum because we also love history. I just wish we could have had more time to actually look at the items in each room & we felt that we just got pushed onto the next room. There were only 4 of us yesterday to do your & yet just don't feel we got to enjoy or take it all in like we wanted.
Robert Saucier
Very informative, interesting tour. One of several Civil War landmarks in Franklin TN. All of which are worth visiting, but if you are only going to take in one, this is your best choice. Our tour guide was super knowledgeable, and colorful. He told lots of little side stories that you probably don't get with other guides. I am not Civil War buff, but this held my attention for the little over an hour walk through.
Michael Starkey
Incredible piece of American history with tangible links to the past in the form of Civil War artifacts. Our tour guide, Allison, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful while providing insight into the time period, family, and house's role during and after the war. Additionally the setup and description of the battle, home restorations, and Lutz family's legacy was also riveting to hear. Definitely worth visiting if you are in the area.
Tim Warriner
We did the house tour and learned and discovered a wealth of information not only related to the Civil War but about the Lotz family's life before and well after the Civil War. Our tour guide (unfortunately cannot remember his name) is a wonderful story teller. Getting a tour is well worth the time and ticket price.
Jordan Baer
Great house, great tour, and it was awesome getting to purchase actual civil war used items in the gift shop. The tour guide Seth knew everything about everything which was amazing given how much there was to know. The only thing I would add is that I wish non-flash photography was allowed inside the house. Highly recommended. Thanks for preserving this building from the wrecking ball!
Mackenzie Wang
Wonderful, knowledgeable staff. The tour takes you through the whole house and they tell you the story of the Battle of Franklin and of the family that lived there (average working-class people who didn't own slaves). The entry fee is reasonable and the house has so many antiques and historical objects. The story of the family and the Battle of Franklin is fascinating. It's a privately owned museum that saved the house from being made into a taco shop!
Mark Turner
What an experience learning what people went through during the Civil War times. Chuck was very knowledgeable and made us feel like we were in the house during the battle.
Lauren Ivy
I love the Lotz House! The staff is great and very knowledgeable about the history of the home and the role it played in the Battle of Franklin. I highly recommend it!
Natalie Roddy
Very pleased with the hospitality offered by the staff especially by Seth and Tomas. They were both very knowledgeable about the history of the Lotz house and presented information in an engaging manner. I would for sure recommend the Lotz house to anyone new to Franklin or visiting the area. Very refreshing southern hospitality and even recommended other historic sites of interest. Thank you Seth and Tomas!
Evad C
Seth gave us a great tour. Worth the trip from Nashville. Also did the Carter house and it was great as well. I would recommend doing at least a couple tours in the area.
Con Con
This tour provided a narrative that inspires you to visualize the agony of war and is a really important reminder of why we, as a nation, need to never repeat the Civil War. A very touching tour and wonderful artifacts in the home. If you're in Franklin, don't leave without a visit to Lotz house. Jean was a wonderful tour guide!
Rebbecca Mcanallen
Chuck, new his stuff. A must do if in Franklin or nearby. About an hour and a half full of civil facts regarding the Battle of Franklinand local history. Very knowledgeable about Lotz family. Definitely check it out!
Paul Nagy
Lotz house is great but they're associated with the lady that does the ghost tours in Franklin. And her story was kind of Shaving it best she had a tablet that she failed to bring and showed us ghost pictures on her mini phone at $45 a ticket I don't think I got my money's worth. I learned more from just taking the Lotz house tour then her ghost tour I don't recommend taking the ghost tour!
Rachel Thompson
Hands down best tour from my weekend in Nashville. Seth was the guide and he was nice and informative and answered all questions! You can go into the rooms of the house which is great to look around.
Mark Machado
We thoroughly enjoyed are tour. Our guide (Laura) was passionate about the history of her home town and it made our experience so much better because of it. Highly recommended this your and I would definitely pair it with the Carter house tour across the street to get the full experience.
Hope Veronica
TJ was our tour guide. He was excellent! He is very passionate as well as knowledgeable about the Lotz house. It is amazing to step into history. That is what the tour is, a glimpse into history. My teenager liked learning about the civil war in school so that is why we did this tour. We all learned so much!
Stuart P - LexMedic
We toured last Saturday on a very rainy day and it was a perfect day for a house tour. We had an knowledgeable re-enactor named Seth (or Robert if you don't like his tour) give us a detailed history of the Battle of Franklin and the Lotz House. The home is furnished with beautiful and unique antiques not related to the home, but as a collection of the owners. There are a few pieces related to Lotz. Lots of items from the Battle or period can be found on the walls and in display cases.
Isaac Armstrong
Fantastic little museum, we were blown away. Being from the west we don't get to see civil war era history and I thought this museum was phenomenal, bringing a touching, tragic story to life! Learning of the calamity that fell upon a tiny town of 750 as 50,000 soldiers tore the place apart was powerful, harrowing, and fascinating all at the same time. Great tour, great guides, great museum!
Christa Cooper
Very cool history. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, but it was hard to understand & follow his speal at first. After 5 minutes or so, once you got the hang of the style in which he spoke, it became more enjoyable. (Although him expecting the group to laugh at his amusing, but far from laughible jests was obnoxious)
The house & area are so full of history, & overall a very cool experience. Worth the cost :)
FreeRangeChristian
I really enjoyed the story that was told with this house. I enjoy history when it gets close and personal and you get to hear about individuals and their experiences. That's what you'll get on this tour. If you go here, I would recommend you get the tour package that includes the Carter House across the street and a third site. But give yourself at least 4 hours to do all 3 sites.
Felicia McDaniel
Lots of history and you can feel the "presence" when entering certain rooms. Tours are $12 pp and last about an hour depending on the group and the questions asked. They do offer ghost tours so that's next on my list.
Nadine Wisler
This is a great tour for all ages. Our guide was fully knowledgeable in the history that surrounded this house. She showed great passion and you felt the history come alive. Highly recommend
Angie Scates
What a great way to spend an hour. I've lived in Nashville my whole life, and had learned about the Battle of Franklin. However, this tour was packed with information I had never heard before. Our tour guide Allison was very knowledgeable and lively.
John McKeon
Amazing place to visit. If you are new to Franklin's history, I suggest going here before any of the other historic sites in town. The tour lasts two hours (compared to competitors' one hour). Admission prices are cheaper. And the staff is insanely knowledgeable on a huge variety of historical information.
Emilee Schneider
Very good and interesting. The tour guide was very friendly and knew all of her information well. Both of the staff members were very nice. I would definetly recommend anyone to come here, especially if they want to learn some civil war history.
Louise Jaskoski
A small but key battle was fought during the civil war in the little town of Franklin , TN. I highly recommend you take the tour of the Lotz House so rich in this history. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. I also recommend that when you finish at the Lotz House you head across the street to the Carter House which played a vital role in this battle. Once again we encountered a friendly and very knowledgeable staff. When we finished at the Carter house we went back across the street for lunch at the Bunganut Pig Pub where we had a fantastic lunch. Not a big history buff like my husband but I highly enjoyed this day
Brian Baker
We enjoyed our tour of the Lotz House and our visit to Franklin, TN. Chuck, our tour guide, did an excellent job explaining the history of the home and the Battle of Franklin.
Vada Kolish
Our guide was very knowledgeable and equally passionate about the house and its builder. He made the history real to visitors and brought the horror of a war fought in your garden to frightening life. Seeing the restoration of the home with its artifacts was a powerful experience. I'm a proud Canadian but felt profound sorrow for the Lotz family's experience during this time, and their flight from the state of Tennessee. A truly memorable site, so many young lives lost.
Paul Cushman
Nice house and museum. Every room is full of interesting things to look at. Best part is the tour. We had JT give us a tour, he has some amazing stories and is super enthusiastic. Highly recommend you do this tour.
Kimberly Us
Calling all History Buffs! During the tour of the Lotz house, you learn about the Battle of Franklin. You can see blood stains on the floor because the house was used as a field hospital for the Confederates. The house has rare furniture and china. It even a taxidermy display created by James Audubon and an old Victoria wreath made out of hair. The owner was an artist and her animal paintings are on the walls. The guide tells the stories with great details and can answer every question thrown his way.
Kay Mcmillan
When we were told the tour was an hour we almost didn't do it. We were SO glad we did. The gentleman that led our tour was so knowledgeable and good the hour flew by. I found myself wishing it was longer. My husband is the history buff out of the two of us so I find myself struggling through some of these things so he can enjoy the. But I really did enjoy myself here....maybe more than he did.
payton shearer
Stopped in on our way out of town and had such a great experience learning all about the lotz family from Seth!
Jenei Aguon
A great place to visit when you are in the area. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Chuck Byrn was entertaining and a fun guide! Highly recommended to all! Great Job Mr. J.T. Thompson! Biba!
Brenda Jones
I really liked the tour. The tour guide did a wonderful job. Seth was very informative.
Eric Samuelson
Great historical site! Preserved by the historical society. Has actually scars from the Civil War battle! Great tour guide and he was VERY knowledgeable on the history of the museum and the house. Gift shop items was overpriced because it is a tourist attraction. Great thing to see with kids who are into history. Gift shop and ticket sales go directly to the house preservation fund so basically your admission fee is a donation to the house. The only bad thing was we couldn't take photos or videos inside the building (they had cameras inside the building for monitoring).
John Shipley
The Carter house is much better, but overall a great experience and a ton of history!
Ashton Lee
A must attend tour! The tour guide was lively and energetic, painting the story of the Lotz family so vividly we could see them waltz through the house and hear them talk of the battle. Privately ran, supporting this venue is an honor.
Ashley B
We went on the tour using the $1 off coupon we found in an advertisement. It was worth it even without the coupon! The story of the Lotz family was interesting and the collection of artifacts was impressive. Robert, our tour guide, was well-informed and kept the tour interesting with his humorous anecdotes. We'd be happy to stop in again for the tour and bring other family with us in the future.
Dylan Patel
What really made the tour, however, was our amazing tour guide, Seth. Not only was he super knowledgeable, he was funny and engaging, and really tailored the tour to our interests. Highly recommend!!
Joel Anderson
I think the other Google Reviews hyped me up too much for this place. It was good, but nothing that I would have classified as "wow!". They were a half hour late to opening the museum, which was fine but definitely unexpected. The tour content was good, but I felt the delivery could have been more informational in relation to all the things that happened on the battle at Franklin. We talked about it in one room, and then hardly any more mention.
All in all, I still would say this is a place to visit. Just don't think it's going to be a super incredible tour that knocks your socks off.
Laura Marcus
What a fantastic tour!! Jean was our amazing tour guide. She was so very nice and answered all of our questions. We were visiting from St. Louis and highly recommend visiting this house that is so rich in Tennessee history!!
Millie Guidicelli
Not worth the 14$ entrance fee. Maybe 8$...Kelly our tour guide could have started with more information about the house and it's family instead of starting with the battle that was going to ensue. And photography should be allowed.
Eric Brocker
it was wonderful! thoroughly enjoyed the tour, worth visiting if you haven't :)
I love history, and having gone through the home, I managed to learn more about the history behind the battlefield of Franklin and the Lotz family.
Heather Daniels
Great tour! Allison was our tour guide and she was very informative, interesting and able to answer many questions. It is well worth the trip and should be seen with the Carter House.
April Franklin
I've been to many historical places related to the Civil War. Most of them were bigger, well known conflicts. This town's devastating experience will stay with me. The tour guides were knowledgable and you see this awful war from another perspective. The Lotz family's heartaches and triumphs are touching. If you are near Franklin, TN it's worth checking out.
Rebecca Jo
Our guide was very pleasant. A history teacher in his previous life, he may have found his calling. Be sure to cross the street to the Carter House when you're done.
Philip LaRocca
A truly wonderful learning experience. Our tour guides very were knowledgable and each room in this civil war era home held new facts to be discovered regarding the Lotz family and the battle at Franklin. Eye opening.
Helen Cherry
History right before your eyes, under your feet, in your ears! Our guide (a Franklin native) was very knowledgeable and entertaining, willing to answer questions along the way. House is great, could see a family living daily life in the 1860's there. Definitely a must-see on any visit to the area!
G R
What a great tour. The guide was fantastic and interesting, and the historic value of the place is high. My 8 and 12 year old loved it as well. Highly recommend if you love history!
Felix Martin
What a wonderful historical location. And the employees were so knowledgeable and very courteous. Learned so much about the history of the battle of Franklin and areas. A must see location. I knew about other buildings, but didn't know anything about this one. Very interesting history and antiques of the period.
J A G
Great informative, colourful look at the past. JT was an excellent guide. He really knows the history of this home and brings it to life for you! Definitely a great stop to make on your visit to historical Franklin. A must see!
Sarah Mercier
Great tour and wonderful to see the staff so passionate about the history. We purchased a package deal including this tour, the Carter house, and Carnton. Definitely recommend the package and visiting in that order. Some people in our group were complaining that there wasn't enough civil war info, but I disagree. They focus mainly on the family's story and experiences through and after the war, which to me brings the history alive way more than random fact regurgitation. Also probably one of the best tours because almost everything is original (which is rare), and you are able to enter every room (not just peer over a velvet rope, which is even more rare). Hope people visit and support them as they receive no federal support or grant money which is unfortunate.
Steve David
The house is full of Civil War history. The guides are well educated and answer questions regarding the house and the Battle of Franklin.
Brendan Hufford
A really great tour. I had my two kids with me (1 and 4) and it was really family friendly. Also, they were cool when I spilled my coffee (what a catastrophe) and were extremely welcoming and forgiving.
Nathan Hug
Learned so much about the history of the Lotz family, the civil war, and the surrounding area. Our tour guide Gene was knowledgeable and friendly. Fantastic experience.
Jacob Schneider
This was a great experience. It was great!! The tour guide was good. It was very cool to hear about the history of this beautiful house. You should go for sure!
Eric Schauwecker
well worth the time and expense if you want to learn about what happened in Franklin. make an appointment and ask questions. very knowledge, all the way down to individual soldiers history. it's all right there and one your done with the tour, you can go outside and walk the actual battlefield.
Karl Stelly
This place is a true gem. I have taken many tours of historic homes over the years, and this one was by far the best. J. T. Thompson was amazing. He has an intimate knowledge of the subject, and gives a tour to be remembered. He is very entertaining, engaging, and very passionate about his subject. If you are in the area and have some time, I urge you to check this place out. A tour taken with Mr. Thompson has to be experienced to be believed. This place is wonderful! We visited the Lotz House with a group on April 4, 2014. Excellent!
Coby Candies
Wow this was the best tour ive had. The guy doing the tour makes the whole thing he includes everyone and makes you feel a part of the story. Wow my mind was blown afteer leaving. Give that guy a raise!!!
Steve Morgan
Very good tour, 50 minutes. A lot of Franklin history. No photos allowed inside. Very close to roadfront, limited parking.
Bob Knake
Went to Lotz House while in Nashville/Franklin visit. It was our 1st time there. Thomas Cartwright was our tour guide. If you ever get a chance to get to down to the area.... You NEED to come and hear this guy. He is/was amazing. You can feel his "PASSION" of the topic. His tour was very enjoyable and very informative. When we went to LOTZ house, I went with my wife (who is a civil war period nut), My 14 year old daughter, my 9 year old daughter and my 10 year old niece. T.C. adjusted his stories to my family. He gave FACT, and though didn't want to include gore, but it is all part of the Civil War. There is no way to avoid that. He gave us fair waring to tell us what was about to come.
While there are other Civil War sites in the Franklin/Nashville area, the LOTZ House is one that should be on your list. Beautiful SHOW home and great stories/history.
Jim Marriner
Seth Breon was our tour guide. If you wanted to know something about the carnage at Franklin,or the War in Tennessee,he,or Thomas Cartwright are the gentlemen to ask.Wish it has been a spring day to amble more, but it was a cold, and rainy Feb.2.Nonetheless,the house was warm, and welcome even more so.Would this Virginian go back?Yes,and buy a round of Pepsis for my two new friends.
Missus G
I had not expected to receive such detailed and relevant information from Chuck and Kelly. The depth of knowledge on matters of color, creed, gender, and religion during this era are often overlooked and certainly misrepresented. I appreciate the conscious efforts to bridge the information gap in an effort to encourage appreciation, unity, and patriotism.
Bobby Harris
Tour was great and other sites are located close by.
Philip Johnson
Very old history. Handmade house by a single person.
Jim Paar
JT is by far the best tour guide in the world. This is a small house but was completely amazed by the history and the incredible story of survival. Thank you for bringing us into the time of sacrifice and struggles this town went through.
Reanna Thompson
It was incredibly powerful to visit the Loftz house. Thomas was our guide and he was absolutely amazing. He was knowledgeable, animated and tailored our tour based on our home state. Thomas's passion is contagious and brought history to life.
Ken McBride
The house is nice however the tour guide made it real recalling the military history in detail that happened here. Also the furniture and furnishings we were able to be up close well in front of what normally would be roped off. I would have included pictures however they are not allowed lol
Lisa Foster
Loved it! The female guide was very well versed and held the attention of my usually disinterested teenager! Will be returning to the area in part because of our guides storytelling!
David “The Redneck Garage” Sutton
If you are a history buff this historic home is something you shouldn't miss. JT gives the most engaging tour of the home which stood during the Battle of Franklin. If you get a chance take also Thomas Cartright's battlefield tour - he brings the history to life with humor and knowledge - amazing storyteller about the sad tragic last days of the Confederate Army. Don't miss this glimpse of what it was like for the Lotz family as this small city was engulfed in the brutality of war.
María Fernanda Martínez
Great place to show a little piece of History. The tour is the story of the family, very shocking but interesting. Beautiful stuff that remains from war times is displayed, definitively worth visiting.
Jon Fraser
Very interesting visit. We learned a ton about the battle of Franklin. Robert, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, ask for him if possible. I highly recommend visiting the Lotz House.
Susan Edwards
Excellent tour with our grandchildren! Fun and very informative. Our tour guide, Seth, was awesome. We highly recommend this tour.
Terry-Ann Akers
Highly enjoyed the tour, along with our tour guide Seth. He was informative and encouraged interaction. I recommend this museum for anyone to visit as it an enjoyable piece of history to see.

Great experience! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and answered every question that we had! There is so much history inside this house!
Dean Ruzicka
Very interesting history in a beautiful house. Staff was friendly and very informative on the tour. Very sad story and it really brings you back. I would definitely recommend this place.
June Strickland
Must visit if you are a daughter or son of the South or if you are a Civil War enthusiast. Beautiful architecture. Gentleman who is the tour guide is amazing. He makes you live the history.
Mike “Woofstock” Woodstock
Very energetic & informative tour guide, Laura. She not only explained the historical facts, but also the emotional and economic aspects affecting the general town population and the Lotz family in particular, kind of putting you in their shoes.
Peyton Southworth
Very great historical gem! We found a deal on Groupon and it was a steal. Thomas was our very enjoyable and informative guide. I would definitely recommend this to anyone willing!
Josh Williamson
Probably the most entertaining tour I’ve ever taken. That spunky 21-year old gal really makes the history and underlying way of life come to life. I’d go again. Rate them on trip advisor
Christine Henderson
Awesome Allison was our tour guide. What a great tour. Loved so much of it.
Allison, my aunt owes me $20! LOL
Definitely a must tour experience
Tommy DiGiacomo
Beautiful home with a horrid history built by an amazing man and all expertly retold by the staff at Lotz house. My 10 year old loved feeling the history with his own hands.
Laura McMasters
The house was beautiful! Our guide JT was very informed about the family who lived there, the battle that took place, and the era that they lived in. I learned a lot. I highly recommend this tour.
Deanna Barnes
This was an amazing tour and our tour guide Allison was amazing!!!
Gordon Granger
Seth provided an excellent tour of a uniquely crafted home which stood near the center of one of the most deadly assaults in American History.
ebida3
The Battle for Franklin was found around this and other nearby houses. The shelling from Fort Granger and the fierce hand to hand fighting that ensued left the house a mess. However, it stood as a testimony to the builder. Mr. Lotz
Here are battlefield artifacts as well has other time period furniture.
Carolyn Floyd
Preserved in its near-original condition and tended by very invested historians, this house provides a wonderful addition to the story of the battle of Franklin. The family who lived there and the role it played in the battle are served well by the Lotz House caretakers.
Robin Winton
The fellas outside were awesome we did a walk through beautiful
Paul Nickel
Beautiful home from the civil war era. A wealth of history here. Take the tour with Laura!!! She is an excellent tour guide and shares history with a passion.
alex brown
We bought a group on that out the carnton plantation, carter house and lotz house together and it was awesome. The woodwork in the lotz house was amazing. Our tour guide was very passionate and was very thankful for our visit. Would recommend everyone to do this!
Lori Laramore
Really cool place to learn about history. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and made everyone feel welcome.
Bryce Nolbertowicz
I am a Yankee from Cincinnati. I was born with a passion for the Civil War. During my first visit to Franklin in Sept. of 2016, Mr. Cartwright brings to life the tragic events that took place on Nov. 30, 1864. He is a true master of eloquence. I highly recommend anyone with a remote interest or if you just happened to be nearby, take the time and visit the epicenter of one of America's most tragic events. I am also a veteran of Afghanistan and Mr. Cartwright numerous times during the tour gave honor to me personally and thanked me for my small service to this nation, but I beg to differ in that Mr. Cartwright 's contributions to keeping alive the events and vivid details of the Battle of Franklin and Nashville, has done more fr this nation I love than i could ever so humbly do myself.
Bob Jones
Very beautifully furniture & antiques. We had a very hard time understanding our guide. He tried to be informative and humorous but talked too fast
Patricia Todd
Beautiful house involved in the Battle of Franklin. The house is full of ghosts.
Alexandra Laser
There is so much to learn about the Battle of Franklin just by visiting the Lotz House. Seth, our tour guide, was great!
Wade Starkenburg
A fantastic tour of one of the biggest battles of the Civil War. Tells of the experience of this family caught in the crossfire.
Gene Henke
Great place to visit for a step into the historic past of Franklin, TN. If you enjoy learning about how the Civil War impacted lives, on a personal level, this is a must see.
Tom Fauria
Great way to learn a part of American history. Our tour guide enthusiastically educated us about the battle at Franklin and how it affected local residents.
Lilly Lapcakova
Allison was a great tour guide, very knowledgeable about history of the house, owners and civil war. We learned a lot, highly recommend!
Albert Rasch
Wonderful Clvil War era home. Well worth the time and money. Parking adequate, other sites nearby as well. Home is well appointed with period correct accoutrements. Staff is knowledgeable and articulate.
James Bobo
Great staff and a fabulous place! The only thing wrong is you have to go up stairs and that you may have to park on a hill so I would not consider taking someone with a leg issue or injury!
Karen McNeely
Very interesting story about how one family got caught up in one of the deadliest battles of the civil war. House was cool. We didn't get a chance to do the ghost tour, but heard it was great.
Huyền Phạm
The tour of the Loz House was the highlight of our visit to Franklin. The tour guide knew her history and made the tour an ‘in the moment’ experience. Thank you!
Michael Auslander
More of a museum. Not a lot of original pieces but interesting to visit.
Charles Schmiesing
Seth, our guide, was very knowledgeable. We stopped by on a whim, not knowing anything about the battle that took place there during the Civil War, but I now want to learn more.
Hilton Butchard
Got lucky and stumbled upon the last tour of the day. Seth, the tour guide, was incredibly knowledgeable, not just about the Lotz house but the Civil War in general. I learned a lot. Thanks Seth!
Melody Tunnell
Very enjoyable and informative tour. Looking forward to returning for an evening ghost tour.
charles genopwr
My favorite of the 3 plantations. Seeing the actual damage to the house from the civil war and learning about the success of the children made it so. Tour guide was excellent.
Marissa McIntyre
Very interesting learning about Franklin and the Battle that took place here through 1 family's experience and home. Tour guide engaged me and my family and enhanced our visit to Franklin, TN!
C Bortfeld
Part of history totally worth seeing. To be where people lost theirs lives and fought to protect their families, is amazing and reminds us how fortunate we are to live here today. This home is part of the story of who we are today.
Alexander Lopez
The tour guide was fantastic, she not only explained how life was during the time but described the battle that took place there very well...
Meg Borowski
The tour was very passionate and knowledgeable in the history of the Lotz house and shared it with enthusiasm. So much history and you could imagine the events as JT unfolds the Lotz Family’s story!
Elizabeth Fontaine
