Reviews of Belmont Mansion
Magi Sunshine (Magi17)
We loved this experience! Our tour guide (so bad with names, but she was from originally California) was passionate, well spoken, full of information and so very patient. This was the best tour we did in 5 days we explored Nashville and other towns. Mansion is beautiful, absolutely stunning, unlike any other you will see. Well worth your money and time!
Gillian Schultz
The Belmont Mansion was Beautiful. It was a fun self guided tour. Students get a discount of some kind because they asked me if I was a student there. The museum is on the Belmont University campus. Finding parking was tricky. It's a tiny parking lot up a hill that says guest and staff parking. The University was Beautiful as well. The people were very kind. All your belongings will be kept in the gift shop while your doing your tour.

Nice free place to visit if you're in Nashville. I didn't do an official tour of Belmont Mansion, but it was still very nice walking around the grounds to see the nice buildings and scenery. There's some signage to give you the history and background of The Belmont. There's several nice walking paths and sitting areas if you just want to take it all in. Although it's on the campus, it wasn't crowded at all and was very quiet.
Lisa Depies
We randomly came across the Belmont Mansion while in Nashville and decided to check it out. There was a 10-minute guided overview and then we were free to explore on our own. There’s a lot to see, and the details put into each room make it fascinating - it’s also neat to see rooms - such as the children’s study room or the trunk room - which aren’t always shown in other period mansions.

Excellent tour! We were so fortunate to be able to take a tour with Jerry, the curator of the mansion. He was an excellent host and was genuinely happy to answer all of our questions about the mansion's history. Would definitely recommend taking the curator's tour, it was worth every penny.
Nathan Gesner
Interesting history, very friendly guides, lots of interesting things to see. It's also nice to walk the grounds and the university. In all honesty, my favorite part was the toilet chair and "Medicinal Paper" in the upstairs bedroom.
Katrina Robison
Educational, informative, and delightful. Park in the visitors area. But the little girl upstairs made us feel uncomfortable. She made sure she followed us around like a hawk. It was uneasy. I mean my husband and I were not going to touch anything, we heard the rules.
javier Anoro
Highly recommend! Just took a tour and it was so informative. Our guides were very kind and helpful throughout the duration of our visit.
Larry Dixon
This place is very cool to go and learn some history. If your on vacation take some down time and see this mansion.
Make sure you take the guided tour and really hear about the mansion and you can ask questions. I saw people walking around on the non guided tour and you will not get much out of that. It's only 4 bucks more so do it.
By the way get there early cause parking is odd and the direction are not great on where to park. Make sure to walk the campus and see how beautiful it is and take it all in.
The mansion is right on the campus and attached to the back of a building. Go check this place out and expand your perspective on life and learn something besides having your eyes attached to your screen like I'm doing to write this lol.

I got married here 9 years ago. The “mansion” is actually a historic museum for any history buffs out there - the family built their fortune on slave labor from cotton (?) I think that was the export. Then became a women’s college. A beautiful venue. They did cheap elopement packages at the time I got married if you want pretty pictures but no big audience. I still recommend. The tour was so good. My mom still thinks the heiress murdered her children but the tour people say they all died of natural causes. She does the true crime stuff. Sorry no makeup in the pic- was rushed out the door for activities and forgot
Charles Huber
A must-see grand house. with friendly staff, The gift shop is worth visiting.
Kboo
It was full of history. It was a beautiful home and I felt like there was much history unknown on the deaths of the children and husbands. Makes ya wonder. Was a little disorganized in regards to tours.
Janet Cottrell
Everything was absolutely beautiful for my daughter's wedding and I would definitely recommend the mansion to anyone. The only reason I give it a strong 4 stars instead of a 5 is because the guy handling the music accidentally disconnected it and couldn't figure out what was wrong for several minutes and my nephew had to go over and plug it in. He possibly just needs more experience or to work on troubleshooting. This didn't ruin the evening though. Beautiful wedding! Thank you!
Tally Jackson
Beautiful place. Would recommend anyone ans everyone to visit Belmont Mansion. So much history.
Matt Hutchings
Good historic tour especially for a self-paced walking. Staff were knowledgeable and helpful.
Part of the pace is being remodeled so be aware of that but along with that train of thought, Atleast the tour will improve.
This tour is family friendly but it does involve stairs between floors.
Mike Whittaker
Beautiful on the outside however I was too late for the tour. Very quiet located on the campus of Belmont University.
Mark Robinson
Great tour and great tour guides. The mansion has an interesting story and history. It is a bit difficult to find because it is between other new buildings and not really visible from the road. Worth the time and $18 adult admission.
Sarah Pearson
This was a really fun museum to tour! They give you a great little history lesson in the beginning and then let you explore at your own pace with employees placed around if you have questions! It was beautiful and my brother and I walked around the campus a bit afterwards too, which was super enjoyable as well!
Brooke Crook
Absolutely gorgeous. There was a short introduction by a very knowledgeable guide, then we were free to view the mansion and grounds on our own. The gift shop had a huge selection of items. It took us about an hour.
Jenn V
We enjoyed touring Belmont. It’s not far from some great brunch places. So it made for a lovely morning. The mansion is on a lovely campus. Even though we didn’t pay for the tour, the guides are placed around the mansion and they share information with you and answer questions. The estate does not contain any significant collections but has many of the original pieces of furniture and reproduction wall and floor coverings. I would budget about an hour here. Afterwards we didn’t have concrete plans so we went out to one of the many gazebos to enjoy a few moments to plan out the rest of our afternoon. We took an uber from downtown over to Belmont and then again to the riverfront. About $15 each way. No flash photography. If and this venue also hosts weddings. It was decorated for Christmas in an era accurate portrayal. And lovely portraits and sculptures of the family.
Matt Rowland
Amazing history of the mansion, the family who owned it, and all the details in between. Please, PLEASE....take the time to ask questions to the staff, especially Greg. He was so cordial with anything we asked, and we had so many great conversations. We even found out he lived in our city for 9 years, what a small world.
Do yourself a favor and visit this place.
Jessica Lau
Spend the time and money to walk around with Jerry, the home’s Curator. The house was amazing, and what remains of the property is a beautiful campus. I would’ve sat in the grand atrium for tea to soak up all of the history that Jerry has been able to uncover and display for the modern visitor.
Fash Lavender
Super nice little adventure! I took my 7 month old to visit, took the tour, and walked the grounds here in early spring. It was a very detailed and interesting tour. Our guide was a highly energetic young lady who knew everything there was to know about the resident heiress. Tour was a bit long for me and the baby but we spent 2 hours there all in all, walking around, taking the tour, visiting the gift shop, etc. Highly recommend if you want something to do that won't take up too much time but boasts historical, outdoor, Tennessee-specific charm!
Andra Meyers
Excellent period museum that accurately captures the lives of Victorian-era Tennessee. It is impressive to see many of the original owners personal items - furniture, china, artwork - on display. Our guide, Chell, went above and beyond in sharing her vast knowledge on the history of the mansion's proprietress, Adelicia Acklen. This was a great way to spend a dreary November morning and certainly brightened our trip!
Kiara Janee'
Nice way to spend a few hours. I enjoyed my visit and the insight offered by the staff about the mansion. There’s also free parking right out front.
Elizabeth Hopkins
Such a beautiful place to visit! Very well restored! The staff on site are very friendly & happy to share their knowledge of the home & family. Parking is super easy too!
David Mckerney
Guided tour only. Would like to wander and explore at my own pace.
This was an amazing home to walk through. Fascinating decor in every room. Endless antiquities to ponder, as you are shuffled through the house.
While the tour guide was knowlegabe, and pointed out a great many facts about the house, her lady, and many other things, I felt somewhat rushed. She would speak, we had maybe fifteen seconds to look around, and we are told to move again.
Heavy emphasis on the gift shop. Not really interestex on gaudy jewelry.
Amir Ehsaei
Good for those interested in the history. Not a plantation tho. Also, you can't walk around and must be part of a tour that takes 60 minutes. Lady who gave the tour was very knowledgeable...
Wouldn't recommend it for a quick stop.
Tom West
Had a great tour of the mansion! 40% plus of the furnishings are authentic. You definitely get the feeling of opulence of the original owners. I feel this is really a "must see" for anyone visiting Nashville. I think you will be in awe, as we were.
Gene Henke
This is the perfect time of year to visit the historic Belmont Mansion, while it is decorated for Christmas! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly as he led us through the estate, captivating our attention with fascinating stories in a beautiful setting. They say, "a picture is worth a thousand words, " so here you go...
Topless97
I wasn't expecting too much from a partial renovated historic mansion but I was surprise how interesting and how much I enjoyed it. The staff was really nice and informative. I would give it a five star if the entire mansion remained unchanged. Five stars to the staff though.
Majid Syed
Historically restored mansion with 30% of all pieces from it's original time period. Gail, our tour guide, did an amazing job explaining the time period, the art, the decor and home layout with restoration project. If you enjoy touring old and historic homes throughout the county, you must see the Belmont.
Stephanie S
We had a lovely guided tour at Belmont Mansion today. Very informative. They have tours on the hour and half hour during buisness hours. It's worth a stop.
A N
The tour is a little expensive but this house is incredible. If you are interested in 19th century architecture or history i would recommend taking the tour. The tour guides are extremely knowledgeable and the house and furniture are extremely well maintained.
Luna Salaver
Great tour! If you're a history buff, love antiques or want to learn about a woman who was definitely before her time, Belmont Mansion is definitely a must see if your visiting Nashville.
Mary Morrison
Beautiful mansion. Tour takes an hour. Nice little gift shop as well where you can get your own tiara! In the middle of Belmont University so parking is available. Worth the stop.
Clover Hill
Nice historic home with lots of original furnishings & art, that's also researched and decorated for the holidays consistent with the period. The interpreter did an excellent job sharing details about the family, the furnishings, and the construction as you moved through the home on the tour, tying the pieces together and sharing how things varied from the modern perspective. The property has close ties to the Civil War and the owner, Adelicia Acklen, was a fascinating woman, especially for her era. I highly recommend reading Tamera Alexander's fictional books that highlight aspects of the mansion before your visit.
Located in a nice quiet corner of the Belmont University campus, with lovely grounds (including a garden with statues & adorable gazebos) that merge seamlessly from the historic property into the campus. We walked around for almost an hour after our house tour enjoying the grounds & campus, despite the slightly chilly weather. Also has a lovely gift shop inside the mansion where we found several high quality, but reasonably priced, gifts for loved ones.
Nicole Cronauer
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about things and having the books in the room is nice to check facts. I wish parts of it hadn't been torn down in the past though.
Richard Stanizzo
My wife and i loved Belmont Mansion. It is beautiful. Unfortunately not all the buildings and land remain. Kelsey was our guide, and she did a great job telling the Belmont story, especially the story of Adelicia Acklen. My wife and I were still talking about the mansion, artifacts and stories two days later.
Google Maps did a good job getting us to the mansion from Belle Meade Plantation. There is a small parking lot beside the mansion. Walk up to the front door, which is locked, and ring the doorbell once. It is heard in the gift shop, so someone will let you in and escort you to the gift shop where you purchase your tickets and where the guided tour starts. I recommend trying to avoid driving to and/from Belmont Mansion during rush hour.
Belmont University is on Belmont, covering almost all of the land. The little that is left is nice to see.
The guided tour is about an hour long and covers two floors. The cupola is off limits, but as every room, it has a story too.
Adelicia's story is very interesting. Her story and all the stuff she accumulated made the tour very interesting and entertaining.
Jason Wade
Amazing location. Rich history also. There's a place called the gig in the library where you can play vintage guitars
Alyssa Terranova
Very cool experience if you are into history. Translators are very good with explaining the history of Belmont Mansion and Belmont University
Chuck Ratermann
Lovely one hour tour. Our guide was relatively new to this job but she had a ton of facts plus she sought out reference books seven or eight times to answer questions. The house itself is very interesting but the furniture and other accouterments were pretty close to spectacular. They allow you to take photos as you tour!
The gift shop was a little bit disappointing as we could not find anything compelling enough to make a purchase. The items on display mostly had nothing to do with the people who had lived there.
One very nice sidebar was that after the mansion we went to Belmont University and walked that property too!!
Jackie Becker
Nice Nashville stop if you enjoy history. I really enjoyed the mix of a short guided intro but self guided tour. Gave you the needed base to understand what you explored on your own!
Mike Trantow
Beautiful Greco-Roman architecture!
Nice peaceful park
Nathan Gesner
Interesting history and beautiful mansion with a lot of original artwork and furniture. Seemed a little over-priced but still worth the look.
Adrianne “AD” Alexander
Beautiful with historical interesting and grounds are awesome. Quietness in middle of downtown!
Michael Copley
Enjoyed my visit. Staff were really eager to answer questions as we roamed the mansion on our own. We were also allowed to take pictures inside which most other mansions don't allow. If you are short on time and have to pick one mansion to visit I'd go to the Jackson Hermitage to see what a plantation was like. This mansion was funded from wealth generated from slave trading rather than through a plantation. Lots of statues and artwork everywhere.
Tristan Greenlaw
Staff were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly and the historical nature of the home is well intact and beautiful. Come early and you'll avoid some crowds and get the place to yourself.
The Laguna Chef
Rich in history with friendly staff and tour guides. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area!
Lloyd Sylvis
Also known as Acklen Hall.... Built in 1850s.... Part of Belmont University.... Rumored to be Haunted...... Largest House Museum in Tennessee 👻
Jon Hale
Beautiful! Go for sunrise before the people start getting there. (Park in the Visitors Parking) You will pretty much have the whole outside to yourself!
Sasha
Beautiful piece of architecture! The history behind it and how they got to be wealthy was unsettling but the mansion was beautiful.
Kelly E
Beautiful mansion. The parking is tricky, as the mansion is now buried in the middle of a college campus. It is maintained by event-hosting & admission fees. Beautiful detail in the art & architecture. The garden path in front leads to a bell tower. Very serene. No pics inside house.
Xanthe Joiner
Beautiful. Didn't go inside, but will next time.
Cassie G
Interesting facts about the owners were told loved our tour guides would recommend to anyone who likes history on Nashville in the past
Kathi Jozaitis
I've always enjoyed touring historic houses. I didn't know anything about the story behind this house. I found it fascinating and enjoyed touring the house very much.
Becca Lynn
Pretty great place to check out if you're into historical mansions. I only docked one star because our tour guide was very mumbly and we couldn't really hear her.
Nelly Bordonaba
I nice place to visit. The inside is a must see and the history is of this Mansion is interesting. Really enjoyed seeing the statues, and the gazebos outside. The garden is beautiful.
Lynn Dahle
I had some spare time to kill while visiting Nashville and decided to take in some historical sites. Belmont didn’t disappoint. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and the tour was very informative. I loved seeing the historical stuff in the house. My favorite was the artwork.
Mariah Campbell
Wonderful experience. Truly enjoyed the tour and the history. She took her time and gave us tons of information.
Harold Drew
Beautiful, loved the gardens.
Old south!
Keke Chocolate
Thank you Belmont Mansion for hosting our wedding ceremony and helping a couple sign- seal- and delivery a lifetime of love!! A Beautiful Mansion that has to be seen in person! Its a place for couples to do things simple and their way with still all the charm!!!!
Note: it's locates on the back side of the building up the hill to the right.
Holly Dorman
Always love the historic locations, this mansion tells the story of late 1800’s southern wealth. Also I appreciate the up-lift of women and education.
Dan Bruning
The Belmont Mansion tour was great and very educational. A part of history that should never be forgotten.
Cole Peterson
Very interesting Antebellum Mansion. Did the self guided tour. The price is right to walk through a piece of history like this.
Emma Nation
Tour guide was super. Took time to answer questions. Got to see much more of the home than I expected. Far exceeded any expectation.
Valerie Hunter
My husband and I were on a brief trip to Nashville, and we thought this place looked interesting. We bought tickets online for a guided tour 2 days before. The tour was very informative, and our guide, Anita, was excellent. The mansion was beautiful, and we really enjoyed learning about the stories of the people who lived there and seeing all of the mid-1800s furniture and decor. The tour took about an hour, which was just the right amount of time. While in the mansion, you are permitted to take non-flash photos, but no videos. After the tour, we were then allowed to walk around freely so that we could revisit the areas we wanted to see again. The gift shop was also very eclectic and fun. I would highly recommend this as a stop while visiting Nashville!
Carrie Finnegan
Great historic home tour. The standard tour leaves every 30 minutes and lasts about one hour. Adelicia was an interesting woman! The Mansion is closing Jan 2019 for flooring restoration in the grand salon. I can't wait to see what it looks like when they are finished!
Matt Tremmel
We enjoyed this tour and the college campus around it. This is worth at a walk around as the grounds are spectacular.
Tom Pagano
Very nice grounds. Peaceful place to walk and relax.
St. Ivan
Great place to visit and see the history of the South the sunlit owned 750 slaves in Louisiana the owner of the house and you Napoleon Bonaparte
Scott Jackson
Great tour. So much wonderful history has been meticulously preserved here. Definitely worth the price of admission.
Sean Williams
The Mansion is still in amazing great condition. Alot of history. Great place to learn about early times in Nashville pre-1900.
Jacquline Michelle Burns
Such a wonderful tour with loads of history. It is very intimate and beautiful college campus
Jack Luke
Loved the decor, knowledgeable and personable staff, their flexibility to host our event in the main salon. Parking is an issue however- be ready to walk and carry.
Hayley T.
The tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and made the tour interesting and fun.
Susan Moquete
Well informed group tour guide Kelly gave wonderful insight to era. Well maintained museum.
Ádám Srej
Nice atmosphere, very kind staff. The gift shop worths a visit.
Todd Baslee
Very interesting mansion and museum. I love the attention to detail as they restore the mansion. This, in itself, makes it very worthwhile. The furniture, artwork, settings, flatware, etc. are absolutely stunning and enhance the mansion all the more.
The staff was very kind and informative and took the time to answer any questions, large or small.
They were doing exterior renovation work whilst I went, however, they remain open and the work did not detract from the mansion at all.
Very worth the admission fee. You may throw in an additional donation after seeing this one.
Leslie Russell
Beautiful place to visit...and get married...and visit again over 6 years later :)
Heidi Russell
The tour was really cool. Takes about an hour and is amazing to learn about a very successful woman from that time period.
Angela Hagen
Beautiful home and grounds. Guide do a great job exaining the history of the house and its occupants.
Tyson Porter
Very knowledgeable staff. The history was fascinating. The property is absolutely outstanding. The surrounding campus was gorgeous.
Brewski
Don't forget to ask for student and minor discounts! Nearly half the price!
Kristi Simmons
If interested in history, this is a good place to visit. The tour was great, the house was amazing, but it was so hot, and stuffy, I almost passed out.
Jane Karren Baker
Looked for something to do on a rainy day. This is a relatively small house/museum with a great story. The guides were knowledgeable and helpful. The gift shop had fun things in it. My only complaint is the signage could have been a little better explaining the things in the room (and two had typos in them, which is a pet peeves of mine). Definitely worth seeing if you want something for a few hours one day.
Annie Bowman
Loved this as a family outing. Very different type of museum and important history lessons for kids. The tour guide was excellent, funny, and very informative. We walked the grounds afterwards and enjoyed the beautiful, spacious estate.
Marion Siman
Beautiful mansion with an interesting history. One of the best historic homes tours I’ve seen in the Nashville area - our docent was fantastic and knew so much about the home, the family’s story, and individual art pieces. He had great flow and pacing, and we were highly entertained the whole time. Definitely check this place out!
April Fuller
Very cool! The house was beautifully decorated for the holidays and the guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended for history buffs and those who appreciate old-stuff!
Chrissy Howard
The private tour was well worth it... our guide was extremely knowledgeable. Private tour was 1 hour. The mansion itself is an interesting glimpse into a wealthy woman's life in the early 19th century. Highly recommend!
Jack G
This historic mansion is beautiful and full of interesting facts and artifacts. So much history here, and the staff does a great job of explaining it. Terry was our guide, and he did such an excellent job. Very knowledgeable and personable. He make an already great experience even better.
Kris Smith
This place is amazingly beautiful! I love that you’re allowed to take your time in the tour and take photos. I didn’t want to leave.
Christina Aro
Nice stop with a lot of history if you have time, though I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to visit. The staff there was friendly and eager to answer questions. The grounds are lovely and Belmont University overall has a nice campus.
I'd recommend using the GPS address provided on the Belmont Mansion website; we just typed "Belmont Mansion" into our system and it routed us incorrectly.
Todd Mendez
Fun stop for a quick visit on our sight seeing your!
Donna C
Kurston was awesome! Thanks for the amazing knowledge that you shared!
Carlos Diez Sánchez-Muliterno
18$ to enter in the Mansion seems too expensive for me, under my opinion not worthy at all…
Janie Krogman
Great tour! Beautiful house.
Gabe Gaul
Absolutely wonderful tour. The amount of history and original pieces of furniture and art is staggering. Highly recommend the tour and I will make sure to walk through again next time I'm in the area.
Susan Ringgenberg
Excellent tours. Great historical story.
Sue Bertoncini
Great tour! I expected to get some knowledge of the structure and all the stuff inside, but it turned out to be an informative story of a strong independent woman and her family. Filled with facts and examples of what it's was like way back then. Highly recommend!! Oh... Not to mention they have the cutest little giftshop with a wide variety of souvenirs. All the staff very kind and nice.
Diane Palmer
Loved it. I took my Mother who was here visiting. She really liked it. Beautiful Mansion. Interesting part of history. Good tour guide. Bought darling coffee cups and books in the gift shop. There is no elevator. Must hike up stairs for the bedrooms. Can watch a video of the bedrooms.
Zoe Owen
We loved touring this mansion and the interest and intrigue continued through reading the historical fiction we bought in the gift shop.
Ramon Espiritu
Very impressive however I could imagine guests staying at the hotel are put off by the hoardes of people passing through it as part of the shopping mall to which it adjoins.
Dale Swett
A must see! The story is compelling, the architecture and the decor is so incredible. We only had time for one historical mansion and this one won over the Hermitage. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and entertaining, very glad we toured.
Sharayah Garcia-Vivar
Purchased tickets online and they were good anytime from opening at 10am-3:45pm closing. Knowledgeable and friendly guides. With Covid restrictions, this place did very well, masks required and they limit how many people can come in at a time (plan ahead if possible). The tour was self guided with “interpreters” in the rooms and plenty of space to social distance. Gift shop has some cute things. St
Robert Greene
$32.00 for two adults. A 10-minute history and then a self-guided tour. Several ladies were around explaining and answering questions. Loved it!
Stayton G Slaughter
I really loved the house and all of the work done on it to show it’s beauty. The tour was very fun and I enjoyed the history of the family. However, I think that our guide didn’t tell us much about the family history before the lady that lived there, and didn’t explain many features of the house. I wonder what is on the third floor, we didn’t get to see it.
KimSie13
Beautiful place to tour and it is loaded with history. Go on a pretty day where you can tour the gardens at your own pace. The House is amazing and a very fun experience, it's like stepping back in time. However the tour guides are ok, ours was fun but did not seem to know a lot about the house. She got a little annoyed at our questions
Lizz Comer
Beautiful campus and gorgeous home. Definately worth the trip!
John Arens
We did the guided tour. Our guide did a great job. Very informative tour that talk a lot about the Civil War period.
Julie Rankin
I’ve toured many historic homes, but this one was not my favorite. It was under construction, so it really took away from the experience. There was not that much to see in my opinion - maybe 8 rooms?
Shay Arnold
This is a fantastic home and the tour was fabulous! Highly recommend taking a look if you are a historic home buff.
Tim M
We really enjoyed our visit to the Belmont mansion. I love architecture, and the Italianate style is one of my favorites. The tour guide was knowledgeable and thorough, easy to understand. I feel like we actually got more out of this than we did Andrew Jackson's Hermitage. It's always fascinating to dive back into history and find out how people lived and worked, and realize that they shared many of the same personal struggles as we do today, in spite of the lack of technological advances.
Judy Egbert
Beautiful home a grounds on Belmont Campus. Guides are very knowledgeable.
Ryan Ploeger
The Mansion and grounds are excellent. The interior of the mansion is better than any I've seen. The women working this day were top notch and very helpful. Definitely worth the price and time.
Jessica Cloeter
This mansion has a lot of interesting history and characters. I enjoyed that we could take pictures if we wanted to and all the areas we were permitted to see within the house. Our guide was very knowledgeable and kind. She was able to ask numerous questions. My biggest thing was that the actually tour was structured in a way to impart that knowledge without us having to ask. As such, we bounced around from topics quite a bit.
Sebbychandoezstuff (Sebastian Marshall)
I loved it here it looked amazing, and the scenery was great.
Marine 3531
Currently the house is under restoration. The entry fee accommodates the fact that you can not see the whole thing. What can be seen is very good and we enjoyed the guided tour. Would be 5 stars if we got to see the full tour. They are working on it though. Please keep in mind of when this was posted as the remodel may be finished. Would not hurt to call first.
Sean Gauslin
Anita was our guide and really made our visit that much more memorable. She was incredibly knowledgeable and extremely polite and friendly. Highly recommend if you visit Nashville!
Diana P
Definitely worth the price of admission. And they let you take pictures inside, even if it is without flash.
Jennifer Conner
Interesting and the tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable. The mansion itself has been kept in good shape, and the furniture is either original or from the time period. The grounds are beautiful and kept up well.
Jennifer Welsh
This is a really neat historic site to visit and learn about in Nashville. The history of the property is fascinating, and the staff is super friendly and informed. Loved our visit, and highly recommend. You can see the whole house in 60-90 minutes.
Rob Knapp
The guided tour was very informative.
Anu Mukerji
Nice tour and beautiful mansion. They put in a lot of effort to recreate the original look of the mansion
Laura Ewen
Went for a guided Christmas Ghost Tour and it was absolutely fantastic. The guides were highly informative and really did the place justice. I've had Belmont in my life since it was regarded as a College and this is it's crowning glory. Well worth a closer look and visit! Definitely opt for a lengthy, informed guided tour!
Mark Fleis
Nicely preserved historic landmark, and I'm sure she did a bit with her money to help the education or school has arose around it but I just couldn't get over celebrating in any way a rich lady who got her money from her first husband who was a slave trader.
Deborah Bukowski
I would recommend this tour. Our guide was Gail she was very knowledgeable and very friendly. She really painted a real good picture of the times when all this history occurred . Thanks Gail for sharing another piece of history with us.
Jennifer Bradford
Loved the history and beauty of this house and college. The artifacts are amazing and the tour guide exceptional. She really brought the family to life. Two stories are beautiful decorated. A must visit!
R Gr
What a tucked away place. Love that you ring the doorbell to enter. Enjoyed while on the hop on/off tour. Would recommend stopping! The staff was friendly and always around to answer questions.
Janice Girouard
Very interesting history for Adelica Belmonte & Nashville,1st girls school. You can read more on the web.
Worth the visit.
Abigail Owen
Wear your mask. Or the girl who gives the intro to the tour will get the big bad man to tell you to put your mask back on. Even when you are in a room by yourself and social distance can be maintained at all times.
Other than that, it was a nice tour. Rooms were very dark so the info was hard to read and you cannot use the flash on your camera.
Rose garden was amazing!
Meg Borowski
I definitely recommend for history buffs, but even if you’re not it’s an interesting tour! The amount of original pieces was very cool and the story of the house is quite interesting. I would speculate that it is haunted, as there was weird really cold spots randomly and it has a slightly eerie feel to it.
Phil Dill
Very cool story about this place going all the way back to the mid-1800s. Took the self guided tour. Lots of placards to read along the way. Two thumbs up!!
Jennifer Hackley
Visited the Belmont Mansion in a recent trip to Nashville. The home tour was great, my husband and I ended up being the only ones on our tour but the guide mentioned they cap the number so each tour is still small enough to hear and see everything. The story of Adelicia and her life was great, the many artifacts and original pieces made the tour even more interesting. It was raining so we didn't have a chance to visit the grounds but the home tour was my favorite historic/museum attraction on our trip.
Vincent Estrada
The people there are very knowledgeable. A little pricey but I can see why. The home, the articles inside, everything looked amazing. Definitely a place I will visit again.
Josiah Colborn
Beautiful grounds, rich with history. Many fascinating artifacts, friendly and informed staff. Updated floor and wall painting feels cheesy and can be a distraction.
Cory Burke
This is a very cool place to visit. There's a lot of history in this building. We learned a lot about the woman who built it from the tour guide. There's also a nice gift shop that had lots of reasonably priced items.
Scott Rubin
Located on the Belmont University campus, I consider this a must-see if visiting Nashville. In addition to the mansion tour itself, a visit here gives you an opportunity to check out the beautiful Belmont campus, which quite frankly, I knew nothing about beforehand and was a wonderful surprise.
Carlene Baurichter
Our tour guide Katelyn was incredibly knowledgeable and charismatic. The house was beautiful and amazing and we learned a lot about the Belmont. It was difficult to find on campus for us out-of-towners, so make sure to use your phone is charged to use for navigation! If you are interested in the Victorian era, this tour is a must-see.
Janette
I LOVE history so I love touring historic homes. Really, really nice!
Carsten Kreuzer
Really nice Mansion of the richest lady in the 1800s.
Beverly Rose
Was closed today but absolutely lovely outside.
Ric Rini
If you enjoy strolling through 1800 opulence than this is definitely the thing to do. A very grand estate with fine furnishing and design right on the Belmont campus. It's an easy self guided tour that can accomplished within 30/45 minutes or obviously longer if take your time.
Bob Bomar
Brandon and his staff are the most caring and helpful people . They made our special day even better that we ever could have imagined. His contacts for photographers, music and all the needed people made it seamless and amazing . I can not say enough about what an amazing job they did . If you want an intimate, classy event , you found it !!
Amber Baughman
This is a wonderful place to visit when touring Nashville! The mansion is BEAUTIFUL and Seth our guide was the best! We asked a lot of questions, and he was so knowledgeable and passionate about the mansion and it's history! If you're debating between this and Belle Mead, we really liked this tour a lot more.
Louise Blair
Beautiful old home that showcases the exceptional life of an extraordinary woman in the 19 th century
South. This is a must see for all Nashville visitors that have a passion for history. Our interpreter Andy was excellent in his knowledge of all of Adelicia's family as well as all the paintings, sculpture and antiques in the home. I took my 12 year old granddaughter and she loved the tour as well.
Misty Young
Our tour guide Lane was awesome! She really knew her stuff- if someone asked a question she didn't know - She didn't try to make up an answer- It was great kept my 6 yr old attention especially the free floating stairs
Rob Lipon
Nice tour as long as you can get past the disgusting torture and slavery that settled most of the south👎 …
nick wronkiewicz
Very interesting home. The tour guides are well informed and very happy to help and very friendly!
Gary Standke
Massive mansion decorated in the period of the civil war for the really rich. It is in the middle of the college campus but parking was easy and free. The tour was fantastic. You really saw what it was like for the wealthy to live before, during, and after the Civil war in the south.
Romero Mariano
We took the tour of the Belmont Mansion on our recent visit to Nashville. Learned a lot about the history of the home and it's main occupant, however we both felt that our tour guide was not the best. If you asked a question she made you feel "inadequate" and my husband felt like she was condescending. I got the impression that she thought she was above all of us due to her being a tour guide. We've taken lots of tours on vacations and never had this experience.
Erin Guevarra
What an interesting tour! Our guide, Priscilla, was fantastic and really brought the story to life and had wonderful knowledge of the history. Would highly recommend.
Martha Stuffler
Adelicia was a rock star of her time. One strong and smart lady. Gail did an excellent tour. It was so interesting. Look forward to the nonfiction book currently being edited. Enjoy this mansion
Gary Neat
Great tour, enjoyed the personal touch of a small group tour. House and story were both very interesting. Tour was around an hour and only felt 15 minutes.
BoBeau Reagan
This is such a little jewel right in the middle of Nashville and on historic Belmont University campus. You get a very personal guided tour of a mansion rich in colorful history leading up to and including the civil war. So hop off the tour bus, or come and park right next to the mansion during your tour for free.
MaryLouise P
Shannon was our tour guide and was great!! A beautiful mansion, they're doing fantastic work restoring it. Really gives you a feel for Victorian America.
Kayla Dixon
My friend I took a tour of this mansion when we were visiting Nashville for the day. Our tour guide was informative and was able to answer most if not all the questions the other guests had. Most of the tour focused on the life of the home's owner, Adelicia Acklen. It was cool to see the history of the place!
Lysa Locke
A Nashville must see if you love history. Tour guide is friendly and extremely knowledge. Great gift shop, perfect place for gifts/souvenirs. I picked up handmade soaps: I've got friends in Aloe places and Stand by your Mango.
Kausar Wali
Belmont Mension is historic building which is converted to museum style.
Rhonda S
Interesting, and a good way to spend 45 minutes. The majority of items are not actually from the family. However it is still interesting. The guides in each area are very knowledgeable.
Joshua Lewis
The tour was very nice. Our guide did a wonderful job! The mansion was clean and presentable. Lots of information.
D C
Do not miss this. Best tour I have ever done bar none. Better than any home tour I have ever had. Very knowledgeable and fascinating story. Favorite thing we did!
Robert Scheel
Very ornate carvings, sculptures, and wall coverings.
Joe Chiarella
Nice from outside! All tours are guided and start at top of each hour. You cannot just walk around yourself. Cost $15 for adult.
Kathy Pasha
Tale the guided tour, it's well worth the money.
Amber Vigneault
This was an amazing tour! Not only did we have THE BEST tour guide, Seth, but Adelicia is a powerhouse of a woman and I loved learning about her life.
Beth Rogers
A beautiful mansion full of Tennessee history. Enjoyed the architecture and the story behind the house. Can't wait for them to finish the renovations of the second floor, would definetly like to return for a second visit just for that tour. It's on the grounds of Belmont University, which is where the university gets it's history too.
Penny Sobczak
Amazing place! Well worth the visit! Hosts we're very knowledgeable. Would love to be able to tour some of the other spaces in the home, like the kitchen, in the basement.
Jessica Starr
Absolutely gorgeous property, staff was very patient about answering all questions or directing to someone who knew the answers. A very neat piece of history hidden in a University Campus
Katrina Koerper
A very unique historic home that is a nice quick visit for anyone looking for something that won't take too much time. Friendly, informative staff and very budget-friendly!
Jennifer B.
The Belmont Mansion is yet one more beautiful historic home to visit while in Nashville. If you're visiting the Belle Meade mansion and/or Cheekwood, make sure you add this one to the list. Situated on the campus of Belmont University, this small mansion showcases many beautiful gilded antiques.
Joy Dodge
We were so impressed with our tour! Rachel, our guide was very knowledgeable about the mansion and took time answering questions and providing information. We had a great experience!
STEVE CURRERI
A hidden gem of history! Must see if you're in Nashville!
Mariah Wilson
A great tour and look into the life of a civil war family!
Anna Vaughan
This was a self guided tour, and if you wanted to know something, you have to ask. They also require masks outside, which I don’t see the point in because you are not close to anyone. I personally didn’t enjoy coming here.
Robert Lapp
Very beautiful and respectful tour of a magnificent mansion built prior to the Civil War. Outstanding knowledge of staff and preservation. Don't miss this visit!
Jama Smith
My daughter and I loved this experience! Our tour guide Sarah was super knowledgeable and we learned so many interesting things. Belmont Mansion is beautiful. 😀 …

Clayton Lissow
Great little excursion with the family.
Sarah Beth
Lovely home with lots of history. The rolling tour was a bit awkward and I think the docents could have either been more knowledgeable or shared more information. I was left with quite a few gaps.
Lucinda Thomas
The tour of the mansion was wonderful and enlightening for the time period. We highly recommend taking the tour if you have time. Our guide was fun too.
Barbara Lugibihl
Didn't have a tour. They were closed due to fall break. 😔 landscaping was amazing.
David M.
Amazing mansion. Lots of history.
sharon atwood
Informative tour and interesting history. Walk around the campus to seethe water tower too.
Sarah Mercier
Informative tour, focused mainly on the owner/mistress of the house who was very before her time. Interesting to hear how she ran things and required her husbands to sign marriage contracts (pre-nup). The only criticism I have was that on entry we asked if we were allowed to take pictures and were told yes, just no flash photography. However, when my boyfriend snapped a photo he was chastised and told it wasn't allowed. We explained that we were told it was ok, and the guide replied that there is a difference of opinion on photos. They should really reach a consensus on the topic so visitors aren't placed in that awkward position again. Overall beautiful home and grounds, enjoyable experience.
Vlad Betancur
We came here with our ESL group from TSU and the staff was very helpful and kind. They kept the pace and vocabulary easy for our students to understand. We love the Belmont Mansion

Our tour was done by a knowledgeable Belmont U. student (sorry terrible with names). He even took the time to look up a piece that had a relatives last name (T. Fry.) after our tour had finished.
Adam Relayson
Interesting place and a knowledgeable staff. I will say that the spiel about the woman who owned the mansion was kind of dry. It just felt like an info dump.
