Reviews of Bonanzaville USA
This is so much more than just a museum! The Cass County Historical Society has put together a fantastic complex of historical building on this gigantic site! Every building has its own story with several dedicated to specific displays. One building houses law enforcement memorabilia. Another is dedicated to firefighters, their apparatus & lifestyle. Some of the building were moved to the site from all over the area! My favorite by far that the airplane building. It’s not got the most of the best displays but it’s the only place I’ve ever been able to walk through a C-47!! We were there for four hours and didn’t see it all. Well worth the price of admission. It’s a must for anyone interested in the history of the Red River Valley.
Cute historical museum with focus primarily on American experience. I love that you can explore at your own pace and it was not very crowded when we went. Our favorite part was the old school telephones that actually worked and seeing the setups of how people used to live back in the day.
Interesting place! I think it has seen better days, but over all it's still a good stop for the sake of history. There is a facinating small courthouse and if you enjoy old tractors and other farm equipment this is the place for you! 😊 Enjoy! …
We were attending an International Tourism event and part of our tour was a visit to Bonanzaville. A step back in time and the townsfolk we met were real characters and just added to the experience. Our travelling companion 'Bike Bear' @bikerbearaus had a great time meeting such friendly people.
We didn't realize they were in the off season now, so most of the exhibits and buildings were closed. It was free to see what was available though. The exhibits we did see were very nice, with excellent, informative signage. I would definitely like to go back in the regular summer season and see what else there is to see.
Lots of nostalgic items here, food and pies , butter making, music, old first buildings, train rides,, tractor parade,, threshing, antique vehicles and planes,, lots of history. Would recommend a whole day to see it all
Bonanzaville is the best way to get to know the past of the Red River Valley. Meandering around and through the historic buildings and seeing all the artifacts was amazing. They have a fantastic antique car collection. So worth the stop!
Wish I could have stayed here much longer to see all of the exhibits! This was a great stop we made. I do wish there were a bit more items at the gift shop to choose from. Bathrooms were clean and staff was friendly. My favorite part was the classic car museum.
Such a deal! And so much fun! This place is a ton of different "museums " into one: old cars, antique tractors and farm equipment, a historical village and train station to wander through and etc... fun for family!
This was such an unexpected experience! So much to see and do, including getting to go through a couple of different old trains and an old grain elevator. The museums were so interesting and we loved going through the old houses. I didn't allow enough time to really see everything that was here. Note for next time!
Such a fun experience for the whole family. The amount of stuff they have to see here is very impressive. You really don't want to miss any part of it. I would suggest carving out at least 3 hours to take it all in and even then it may not be enough. The people are really helpful. The gift shop is closed due Covid right now, unfortunately
Way more than expected. Don't let the name fool you. Yes there are plenty of original dated buildings. Also there is a hanger full of really old nice cars, airplanes, and carriages. Well worth the stop.
Great for a few hours. The have some cool exhibits. It's fun if you go with a group of people. Support the preservation of Fargos history and the history of America!
This place was really nice and we got to see the demonstrates. We love the blacksmiths and they even made something simple for us at our request for a souvenir. We were hungry when we went and the food truck and the ice cream weren't what we wanted but as we left we went into the girt shop and main building only to see that they had a big menu with a great selection beside the elevator
This would have been perfect if it was set outside for everyone to see they would have sold such. As we were walking away another family saw the sign and said wow that would have been helpful for us to know. So put the big menu sign outside so everyone can see it and you will absolutely get plenty of people wanting exactly what you are serving.
This attraction has multiple buildings and homes located on the property for touring. One building was full of old tractors, a fire dept., a telephone museum, saloon, bank,, etc. Great opportunities for learning for kids.
This is a really cool place! lots of neat stuff to look at! so much history! I kinda wish some stuff would be better maintained (such as the cars and tractors) but it's still pretty cool. I'd recommend visiting this place since in my opinion, it's worth the $12 (or however much you'd pay for admission). 10/10, would visit again.
I loved ALL of the historic houses and Buildings I went there for a school field trip. There were church's, fire company, a town hall and much more. You sould visit Bonanzaville if you end up in West Fargo.
Amazing place. Felt like 5-10 museums in one. Go if you like American History. Trains, Planes and Automobiles are only the tip of the iceberg.
Such a great place for a family day out, they have a incredible amount of artifacts ranging from early native American, to a real helicopter used in the Vietnam War, real recreated vintage homes, saloon, firehouse and so very much more.
All the staff were so friendly.
We were very impressed, and the kids loved exploring, I would highly recommend this place and look forward to visiting again.
Brilliant day out.
Came here for trunk or treat and it was good to see a lot of faces from the community. My kids had a blast. Hope to take them back here again!
Went with a 4th grade field trip as a chaperone so we were on a time schedule. Beautiful day (might be a different experience with poor weather as there is walking outside). I enjoyed the exhibits with 'character' interaction, especially the German frontiersman and the old time store. It would be even better if there were this characters explaining things at every exhibit.
Great place to get a taste of the history of our great country. Live performances, actors, ancient planes, tractors, bars, and general stores.
Never been there before and have lived in the area most of my life! So glad we went! Would highly encourage it!
My favorite place in Fargo .You get to walk in places .Its like stepping back in time. A very good understanding and appreciate what we have now.
It's a very nice place, well worth the visit. Although visiting during the week without a guide or animation felt like walking through a ghost town.
We held our 25th wedding anniversary party at Bonanzaville and had such a wonderful time! They were so great to work with. The space was perfect for our family and friends to eat and dance the night away. Our security person was amazing as well. We felt very taken care of. Highly recommend this space to anyone!
We Loved It and there are so many buildings to tour. Everything was Interesting and the Church was very Beautiful!
Amazing place great price and just as fun as it was when I went 20 years ago
Unique museum with a lot of old-timey history. Worth checking out for sure. Staff was very friendly!
Fantastic place to spend an afternoon! Lots of interesting pieces which tell the lively history of the town. I was there volunteering with some friends, and the staff were absolutely wonderful.
A few interesting exhibits. The place was pretty much deserted. The car museum had several interesting cars.
I have lived in the area for 14 years and can't believe I have never been here. They have everything here from cars to farm equipment and telephone operator systems to even airplanes! You could easily spend an entire day here and still have things to see. This is a must see and I will be going back! Still just blown away from the amount of history this place holds.
It was so good.... really enjoyed our time here. Please keep up the great work.
Bonanzaville is amazing!! There are so many interesting things to see. They have all the building you expect to see in late 19th century America. They even have a car museum and old airplanes. I was enjoying looking at the first couple of buildings, before I realized how much there truly was to see. I had to pick up my pace or I wouldn't have time to see all the things that sounded interesting. You can easily spend the entire day there and not see everything. It's a great place to bring children too.
Very informative. A fun experience.
Great visit! We enjoyed all the displays. Prepared to spend 4-5hrs.
Lots of interesting facts and vuildings about North Dakota.
Had a great time there during a 2nd grade field trip. The telephone history museum was fantastic, with lots of hands on exhibits.
Loved this place...love that you preserved history
By far the best stop of the day. Worth the admission! So many buildings to explore, and so many artifacts to examine and ponder over. A bit dusty, but makes it feel more authentic!
Staff was kind and helpful when the church door wouldn't open. So glad I stopped by for history, specifically North Dakota's involvement.
Loved this museum! So much to see and very well maintained.
Great place to bring kids to learn about history
We decided to take our daughter on the advertised "ghost" tour on Friday night. I was very let down that it was not a ghost tour, and just a regular history tour. However, the tour guide, I do not recall her name, she said she worked st the front desk. .she deserves all the praise and a raise! She befriended my very talkative and sassy daughter and included her in everything and made sure she felt comfortable. It was such a great connection, that my daughter talked about it for the rest of the weekend.
An interesting mix of history to view. Somethings there for everyone to enjoy.
Was pleasantly surprised.
Wide variety of interesting exhibits in a town like setting.
Had a great time here. My 5 year old son is still talking about the train, classic cars, tractors and airplanes a week later.
My 11 year old daughter had fun also walking through the old homes and checking out the old telephone area.
There's something for everyone here and I can't believe I've lived here so long and never came. We learned a lot as well. Should be a must visit.
Wish we had more time here.
But what s great way to experience some ND history.
Very friendly, helpful staff.
This place is AMAZING!! Seems to have it all. Some of the items are old planes, homes, school, church, courthouse, train, stagecoach, cars, fire trucks, farm equipment, etc. The bonus is you can actually go into some of these original displays.
It is well worth the money that you pay, which is very economical for a family outing.
Great museum of historic Northern life!
My fiance and I went to look at what their buildings were like as we're looking at possibly booking one as our venue for our wedding. The staff there were really nice and thorough.
I love this place! The history about our little town and our state in general makes for this place to be a great day for adults and kids alike! I love their different days they have! Like Pioneer days, or their 4th of July Parade. They also do fun events such as Murder Mysteries and Paranormal Investigations. Worth the $ and fun time with friends and family! Check it out!
Very enlightening! Super interesting the entire way through. It is quite the experience being able to literally walk through history! I give it four stars though, due to some of the back/non display rooms in the buildings having a bit of visible trash in them. A great place to visit though! Especially on a slow day. Some of my favorite rooms/houses are the telephone section, where you can see the gears and machinery move around as you use the rotary phones to dial and the real old passenger train that you walk through. They also have many houses from different eras, old fashioned stores, barber shops and more. These places aren’t just recreations of the past, they are also a way to submerge yourself into the history of the state and country. Would definitely recommend.
Fun place to go see some cool history of our area.
Drove from the Twin Cities to visit, and it was worth the drive. Tons of early buildings to tour and old original antiques and machinery. Cars and airplanes were really fun to see. Loved the Telecom building
Wonderful way to spend a relaxing and interesting day.
I adore all of the local history! We went for Pioneer Days and they had guides everywhere and all the buildings were open. We even gave our information to hopefully volunteer to help keep our history alive! Thank you for all you do!
It was closed when we arrived today, but have enjoyed seeing all of the antiques and the way of life in the early days on previous visits to Fargo. We called ahead before they closed and asked if we could park our RV in their parking lot overnight. They were very gracious and allowed us to boondock.
I took my Wife & Mom over there, they really enjoyed the time.
There was a lot to see. Everything is well kept filled with surprises. I was expecting just a quick place to tour, but there was almost endless amounts of buildings and things to see in them. Took a few hours and was an enjoyable experience
Only went there 1 time to watch the fireworks show, the grounds were not open, everyone just parked in the parking lot and along the street.
Great place to spend an afternoon. We had our wedding reception here. They have two venues on site, and we went with the main building venue. Priced well, very accommodating, flexible payment as well. Have a contracted bar on call with a brand new bar area. Plenty of room for lots of people. Best part was how easy it is to find and get to. One exit off of 94 and you're right there. Missy is great to work with and actually cares about what YOU want. Many of our ideas were met with "oh sure, we can totally do that!". She was there from well before the start of our day to the end! The thing we loved most was that we got the venue for multiple days, so decorating was done at a normal pace, an no cleanup that night! I'm glad we went with this place and not one of those generic overdone venues that people have been to multiple times. Our guests loved getting to tour the meusem during the reception and kept stir crazy kids entertained.
Cool spot. My son enjoyed the gift shop.
Preseason for the outer buildings, yet, but still a good visit to the year around indoor museum !! Many outstanding displays from "the olden days" !! One such exhibit was the Dalrymple guides to farming !!
I've lived in Fargo for 5 years and finally got to Bonanzaville last summer, and I can't believe I'd never gone before.
It's like stepping back into pioneer times. Docents dressed up like its the early 1900s are staged at various buildings to talk you through life in pioneer times.
You can walk through 41 different buildings and they are all original structures from back in the day, including a church, schoolhouse, general store, and saloon.
ALSO, one of the coolest things you can do is attend a murder mystery dinner or one of their ghost tours.
Everyone who works there is very knowledgeable about the buildings and the thousands of artifacts, so ask questions for sure.
Wonderful! So much to see! Don' miss going there if you are in North Dakota ! You get to see things in the buildings that you just could never see anywhere else. The staff there is also very helpful and knowledgeable.
Fun, neat to see the businesses from back in the day
Bonanzaville is fun for the whole family while learning about the history of Cass County!
This is the cutest quaint town. They did a murder mystery party and it was one of the most fun things I have ever done. I would come here again to tour the place and do more of their events. Everything was clean and taken care of and staff was amazing.
Certain parts are not well maintained. The pioneer village area was OK. The airplane display, the car display and the telephone museum were the best parts.
I came her with my mom because she came here a long time ago. It was a great experience to see all the buildings. My favourite was the telephone building because there were old interactive phones.
This old town set up in Fargo is just the coolest. The buildings and houses have props from the time era and I thought it was like walking into that time period. It was quite the experience! We went on 4th of July so there was a parade when we arrived. I thought it was the coolest! Perfect atmosphere for the day. Go see this town with your family. But you need a few hours to see it all. Worth it!
I love the the antique cars and airplanes. I've been there numerous times and still find new things.
What I love most is volunteering at Bonanzaville. There is always something that needs to be done and they are so appreciative. It makes you feel great.
Awesome and extensive local history in the most original and unique ways possible. There are REAL buildings to explore on a lot. Every year they have "Pioneer Days" that is a memorable and magical experience.
Really nice place with great displays. The staff seems very hard working to show the history of the buildings.
Bonanzaville was wonderful. I was passing through the area with my 83 year old mother and 7 year old great niece. There was something there for all of us! I have many pictures to prove it. It was great hearing my mom say I remember this; we used that; and telling her great granddaughter what different things were for. I love history and it needs to be preserved. Good job Bonanzaville .
Very educational and amazing to see how individuals lived at different times
I had my wedding reception and dance in Dawson Hall. It is a beautiful venue and Missy and her crew were great to work with!! Everyone was extremely helpful. I received so many compliments!! I highly recommend Bonanzaville for any special events!!
Love the historic nature, beautiful buildings.
Bonanzaville is a collection of historical buildings, artifacts and dioramas mainly from the pioneer times. Bonanzaville is laid out like a small town with various buildings including a train depot, church, log cabins, newspaper and barber shop. The main building is very well done but the out buildings are in need of general maintenance and cleaning. It's a little hard to find so be sure to google it and allow 3 to 4 hours to see everything. It is well worth the admission fee.
Amazing historic buildings. A huge collection of vintage tractors, Bobcats and farm implements. Homes contain furniture and other items typical of the late 1800's. Plan on a visit of at least 2+ hours.
I think everyone that lives in Fargo should see this place and anyone else that doesnt live there...Give it a shot. You have a really neat history lesson on North Dakota at your fingertips...They let you tour it all on your time...dont forget to call your friend in their old fashioned telephone system!
This place is awesome! There is so much to see, very easy to get lost in history and step back in time! Great for all ages and the staff is always friendly.
Such a variety and loved learning something new about North Dakota history and the amazing people that paved the way for us.
The museum looks actually amazing. However, the biggest disappointment was to drive here from Minneapolis to learn that it’s actually closed for season... you should update your information on google maps
Toured July 1st, awesome bldgs. Favorite was the Kathryn Depot with the Spud Valley model Railroad and the Moum Ag. Museum. Very warm day!!
A worthwhile fun museum experience for the entire family. Highly recommended!!!
Great place to go and look at some cool historical items. They do a good job at keeping the place up and their special events are a blast for the kids.
Bonanzaville had a special experience for Halloween 2020. My wife had never been there. We enjoyed ourselves. There are bathrooms throughout the pioneer town.
Very detailed history of that part of North Dakota. Amazing collections of antique cars, trucks, farm equipment, fire-fighting equipment, old buildings, even a massive snow plow in the train shed.
Lots of history and great parking, and easy to move around to see all the wonderful North Dakota history! A very large variety of items to see!
I had a good time at Bonanzaville. Fun stuff for adults and kids!
Loved this place. Great exhibits. Some "hands on" exhibits. Lots of walking, as there are multiple buildings. You need to go outside to go between buildings.
I took my 5 year old granddaughter and we both enjoyed the place. Lots to see and do. An excellent walk through history.
We went and enjoyed this place. 👍
Unique stop in West Fargo that is a replica pioneer town from the 1890s with also a history of the Bonanza farm. One minor criticism is GPS directions to get to it try to invent a road that doesn't exist to get there.
Car museum portion is the only part I saw but I was VERY nice with around 60 cars. Also had a very nice line up of Model T's.
Nice displays but all the lights were out to dark to see all the displays . Guys outside kinda acted like we were invisible. No food or drink on a hot day
Went to a 1920s who done it here. Love the scene they had set up for it. Nice old buildings to walk through and great history lesson for kids.
Park was interesting. Lots of antiques to look at. Old buildings and history cool to see. We basically had the entire park to ourselves.
My wife and I were rather disappointed as there wasn't any staff in any building facilitating anything. Bonanzaville does have an awesome collection of items that are of interest to most age groups. Audio would be of help.
It is amazing, we got really good information from the cashier about the museum
Was there for the antiques roadshow show and enjoyed looking thru some of the displays. I am planning on returning to really enjoy the many buildings and history.
This is a pretty cool place to take elementary-aged kids. Some fun interactive stuff, but the freedom to wander wherever is a plus.
Great place to visit. The buildings are really cool as they are original, something rarely seen. Highly recommend!!!!!!
Cool place. Lots to look at. Spent a lot of time here. Kids enjoyed it also.
Bonanzaville held a Support Small Business Market today, and we found it to be very successful for us. We found some nice treats and treasures to take home.
Always a great place to visit.
If you are even the slightest bit interested in history, this place is a must see! There are lots of antique vehicles, planes etc. Lots of history about the settlement of the area.
Do know who invented the roll film camera? Go to this fun place and learn who did. If you like history. Come and explore.
This place is huge! We will go back again to see more! Very Rich History!
They don't advertise the food upstairs in the Event place. Highly recommended going for that. Very nice outdoor exhibits.
So fun to look back at how things used to be. The had people playing rolls in some of the buildings also! Went with my daughter on her School field trip.
I really hope this place is around for a long time and hoping we can keep these land marks all the history of it all in good shape I love learning and seeing history everyone there are very nice I recommend everyone to go there fun
Cute little museum. Well priced. Wonderful little outdoor town full of history.
Loved the history at this place. Spent 6 hours there and didn't see everything there was to see. Would definitely go again
Fun to go c all of the buildings there.like old houses.
Great place to spend an hour to all day. They have so much to see and enjoy.
My husband loved all the old stuff
Was very fun and had alot of different thing to do and look at...was cool they had a tractor pull for the kids
Definitely worth the price of admission. My wife and I are history buffs so it's easy to say we loved it.
A must see if you visit Fargo. A GREAT place to spend a while back in a simpler time.
Lot things to see for those who like about history specially for north dakotans
I went there in the 80s and 90s as a child. I loved this place. I am excited to carry on the tradition bringing my own children there.
A place the whole family can find something to enjoy.
Very cool way to see history. The experience is 100 times better than reading from a text book.
Lots of 19th and 20th century historical artifacts, buildings, cars, trains planes, inexpensive admission
Great place for you and your family and friends ❤
I attended a show/comedy presented by a local production group.
Lots of historical items from many eras of the Red River Valley.
So much to see and do! It was actually a quick stop on the way back home. I could absolutely see spending a full day here!
I love having all of our local history on display, makes me proud of our community!
Always a blast here! They set everything up nicely and the staff is awesome at making you feel welcome.
Love the old Steam locomotive "684". What a beauty of a Iron Horse!
Cool place, lots of old houses, trains, planes, and tractors. Also a nice museum
Christmas on the Prairie. Was fun. Used to have a lot more things going on and were less people there then in the past but still enjoyable.
This place is full of iconic history and a great educational experience for your young children
Great place to learn about historical buildings
Very historic, the place actually gave me the "cold" air when I go into some of the house. Very interesting experience
This place is the heart and historical reference of Fargo and its earliest days. You’ll feel like being transported in time.
Alot stuff to see very historical well worth money could spend whole day
It's a wonderful historical place to spend the day. Great everything.
Went for an event there tonight and the kids had a blast. The staff there is great!!!
I love Bonnanzaville, but this time several of the buildings were locked. My favorite is the horse drawn vehicles building and we couldn't get in.
Love going here.
History lesson 101... Go and learn about our states and our nation's rich history. Well worth the lazy walk thru.
It's nice.
Great venue for a wedding reception and dance. One downside was not enough bathrooms.
Great taste of history especially on the days they have active docents there for a more immersive experience.
Loved it ! Great job preserving history at this place !
Lots of buildings were closed. What was open was very interesting.
A great place to walk through history and see how business and homes were in the 1800's.
Nice place to visit, just wish the tractors and cars were easier to look at.
I visited Bonanzaville to find a geocache. I have been here for events before and I had a great time. I will come back again.
Loved the olde town experience! I can't believe rotary phones are considered antique! 😲 …
If your interested in the history of the area. Well worth the visit.
This place was so neat!! My 11 yr old went here for school, and begged to go back

Went to Christmas Village
A treasure trove of local history.
Hab schon einige Museen besucht, die interessanter waren. Bonanzaville ist nicht das "gelbe vom Ei". Dementsprechend war auch die Besucheranzahl.
Excellent historical place.
Bonanzaville is a historic reconstruction of a pioneer village. For this, old houses and buildings were demolished and rebuilt in bonansaville. This way you get an idea of how it used to be without having to drive several KMS.
