Reviews of Pabst Mansion
William Reed
This was a very nice experience. Well worth the price of admission. The tour guide was friendly, pleasant, and knowledgable. The tour was absolutely beautiful. We were able to see the mansion the was it was back in the day. The decor and craftsmanship was beyond fabulous! I would definitely recommend taking the tour of the Pabst Mansion if you are in Milwaukee, WI and have an hour to spare.
Tara Salvaterra
This Mansion has been beautifully preserved/restored and is a true gem.
Booked tours are well priced and well worth doing. The history of this place is very interesting.
We loved our visit!
Ryan Martin
Pabst Mansion is fun detour from from downtown. It’s about a 2 mile walk from the Third Ward. The volunteers were very nice and informative. We did the self guided tour with the brochure, which was perfect. We really loved the craftsmanship, furniture, art, and fixtures which were from the house or the period. I highly recommend the trip is your visiting Milwaukee!
Nikol Richards
When I decided for the kids and I to go here I had no idea he was a beer baron. I don't drink so I don't really care about those things. I wanted to go because it was an old, well crafted 20000 Sq ft house, and I am an Architecture and detailed craftsman geek. And it did not disappoint. I want to mention that this place is a medium on the price scale, and if you have children not used to standing nicely and being quiet for an hour + then this might not be a good stop. But if you are an adult looking to be both educated and entertained than this is the place for you.
Bonnie MacSwain
Very nicely restored mansion. Tour guide was very knowledgeable about the house history as well as the family history. Great tour! Woodwork on the inside is extremely detailed. Definitely recommend a docent guided tour so you don't miss anything.
Scott Moll
A great historical place to tour. Some dates have guided tour, others are self-guided. You may want to reserve in advance as they cap max people by time slot for covid reasons. Through early January they have it decorated for Christmas, too. Amazing art, architecture, and decorations. You can easily spend an hour going through the 3 stories. Worth a tour and donations.
Victoria D
A beautiful historical monument of a bygone area. Tickets for classic guided tours or self-guided can be purchased online in advance. The docents are very knowledgeable and so informative, I would suggest the group led tour for the full experience.
Outdoors With Shawn
Truly a unique place with an interesting history. It's worth the minor admission fee by far. Once we left, I learned my great grandmother worked there as a servant for the Pabst family.
Dejan Braki
Unfortunately, after visiting other great places in Milwaukee we came too late for the tour that day.
However, we explored the grounds and souvenir shop. Very beautiful mansion with European character of the 19c beer king.
ron burkett
Beautiful mansion! The craftsmanship is marvelous.
The restoration of this home was done with such effort and care that you truly have to see it to appreciate it. Excellent tour guide. He really cared about the mansion and gave detailed information.
Chad Warner
Pabst Mansion is a fantastic view into the luxurious lifestyle of the wealthy at the end of the 1800s. The restoration and care for the property must be the result of a lot of hard work. The story of the Pabst is one of the American Dream. Worth the stop.
Kelsey DeAnna
Barb was an amazing tour guide! She was funny, sweet, and last but not least informative. The Pabst Mansion is beautiful even with restoration still in the works. Will be returning and hopefully getting Barb as a tour guide again.
Rynne Griggs
Beautiful location to take a great history tour. Tour took about an hour, maybe a bit more, and showed a beautiful mansion restored to immaculate condition.
Patrick Schommer
We visited the Pabst Mansion between Christmas and New Years and the place was beautifully decorated. Busier than I expected, a self-guided tour will run you $18. We made our reservation online the day before, but they admitted it was a soft start time. I believe walk-ups are welcome. There are knowledgeable people (volunteers?) wandering the house who will gladly offer tidbits of information regarding specific rooms or peculiar artifacts. The pamphlet they give you is well written and worth someone in your group reading aloud as you traverse this 3-story home. If you’re looking to kill a couple hours in Milwaukee indoors, the Pabst Mansion should be in your list.
Jackie Rosenwald
Just beautiful. Took my mom to see the Christmas decorations. Such an amazing family story from humble beginnings. Beautiful home.
The Borg Cooking Show
Very beautiful mansion. I'm so glad this has been preserved so we'll over the years. Hopefully they can fully restore it all one day
Denise
2nd visit, very interesting and beautiful mansion. Informative tour with much history. Learned more about Pabst this tour. The woodworking is stunning.
Sandy Erickson
What a beautiful mansion. The Christmas decorating is amazing.
They recommend buying tickets in advance, we did not and were able to get in.
Stephen “Mr. Haubz” Haubenstein
A very informative tour, of a very Cool mansion !! Amazing amenities and "modern" conveniences considering the home was built in the late 1800's.
Jess W.
I enjoyed seeing the different rooms and the different floors throughout the mansion. My guide was super knowledgeable throughout the tour. It's crazy how well the mansion has been maintained over the years!
Judith Iverson
We went to the gift shop 1st and watched a movie and shopped around and bought some goodies and then went on a wonderful tour of the mansion ❣️ Nice to learn there was a good captain behind all that beer👍🥃🍺 …
Brandon Murray
Really incredible home and experience. TONS of knowledge is gained by having the guided tour. Very cool experience and I promise many things you didn't expect about the Pabst family.
Brandon Wendt
This mansion is stunning. A beautiful piece of Milwaukee history as well as brewing history that is so well preserved. Our tour guide was excellent. She was very thorough and made sure that any questions, concerns, comments that we may have had. She would answer to the best of her knowledge. If you're in Milwaukee Wisconsin and enjoy visiting historical landmarks. I highly highly recommend stopping in and taking a tour. It's a wonderful way to spend an afternoon!
Jason Brown
Unbelievable it was planned to be demolished in the 1970's. Such great history and the details in the house is awesome. Must see.
Judith W
We had a lot of fun learning about the history of Milwaukee! I highly recommend it.
Megan Kuhl-Horbin
Spectacular! Definitely take the guided tour—worth every penny! So much information, history, emotion, and architecture. And you get to see A LOT of the house!
Mary Kubicek
Wonderful self guided tour for Christmas. Just gorgeous! Nice gift shop too!
Jennifer Fravel
Really pretty, a must see around xmas time. Grab a beer somewhere else but the mansion is worth a stop and a tour for sure!
Tara Zochert
Exceptional place to see, the tour guide was older and didn't wait for you to get in the room before he started speaking. We had kids in front of us so we were forced to wait for them to move, and because of that, it took a minute for everyone to see the rooms. He also acted like he was all knowing and that was a damper. But the house is exquisite!
Jen
Such a beautiful Mansion. We took the Pabst Brewery Tour at the old brewery first to hear about the history.
Kevin Scott
This is definitely not a traditional tour but I really enjoyed it. If you’re in the Milwaukee area and you have a beer enthusiast with you I would definitely check this place out. If you want to standard brewery tour MillerCoors has one.
Tom Borchardt
Painstakingly preserved and restored 19th century Mansion built by the founder of the Pabst Brewery and subsequently owned by the Diocese of Milwaukee as the Archbishop residence. Guided tour or self-guided tour options available.
Alyssa W
Our guide was knowledgeable and engaging. This history buff enjoyed the mansion and then headed over for the Brewery tour.
Zoe Kastanias
A truly exquisite and well maintained mansion from before the turn of the century. We visited on New Year's Eve and the home was beautifully decorated for the Christmas season! My daughter counted roughly 80 Christmas Trees throughout the mansion, which is 3 floors high, complete with very modern amenities for its time! The staff at the museum is friendly, knowledgeable and very professional. A delightful and wonderous experience that should be included in every Milwaukee tourist's agenda!
Jim Buetow
You will be impressed with the amazing craftsmanship of each and every room. Wonderful history. I would suggest a guided tour or at least read the provided brochures as each room has its own story.
Domenique Comparetto
Very interesting and informative tour. The home is beautiful.
Stephanie Tibbetts
The staff was so sweet and knowledgeable and the home is absolutely stunning. Plus the Christmas decorations were so beautiful. The simple white and gold in the music room were stunning and the grand tree by the staircase were my personal favorites but honestly the whole home was so beautiful. Probably my favorite stop in all of Milwaukee.
Joe Waskiewicz
Excellent woodwork and other furnishings throughout the 3 floors.
Katherine Kolins
Had a very nice experience at the Pabst Mansion yesterday. We did the self guided tour and read the brochure while we walked the house. The staff was very friendly, especially the new guy Mani, and we're very accommodating with any questions I or my husband had. They also offered little treats and drinks for guests, which was a nice added touch to the experience.
Probably wouldn't recommend for children though. They would likely get bored and be frustrated with not being unable to touch things, run around, etc. Meant more for adults.
Michael Reinders
I hadn't been here in probably 10+years. Seeing the mansion decorated for Christmas is magical. Wonderful presentation, friendly volunteers, a nice relaxed experience.
Highly recommended!
Lucas Brandt
The guided tour was nice! I learned a lot about the Pabst family and the history of the mansion.
Stephen Manuel
Due to some structural issues the old gift shop that is attached to the mansion is closed. The gift shop is just outside the Mansion as you face it to the left in that first building. You buy your tickets in the gift shop for the tours and for everything else. The self-guided tours are only from 12 to 1.
Dawn Kirschner
2nd year of our new holiday tradition. I absolutely LOVE the decorations themed by room. Thanks especially to Roxie for her amazing decorations and her excellent guidance. The decorations overwhelm with their beauty. Much recommended
Tom Bedford
Beautiful house. It is a self guided tour. However, they have knowledgeable people throughout the house to ask and obtain additional information. You can buy drinks, including beer, as you walk through the house :-)
Daniel Anderson
The Mansion Tour was great. Lots of time put into the Christmas Decorations. Lots of History to learn about the family. I enjoyed it very much.
Samantha Shivers
Absolutely stunning, couldn't get enough!!
peter blaul
Great tour with a lot of historical information about Milwaukee and Pabst. Been here 3 times and would go again just to see the beautiful architecture.
Ben P
Beautiful building! Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. I hope the church portion can be reopened soon. It's too pretty to stay in disrepair.
Riley Woollen
David, our tour guide, was funny, knowledgeable and approachable. The museum itself is stunning and surprisingly interesting. 10/10 would recommend for out of towners.
Theodore Mall
We were there for their annual Christmas themed decorations. You not only get to see a classic mansion, you experience the glory days in it's holiday majesty. All the antique rooms and decor with Christmas trees and custom decorations put together with painstaking effort together with volunteers present on every floor to answer your questions or to explain the background. Great experience.
SJ Bey
A great house museum with lots of beautiful woodwork inside. They offer guided tours everyday. Other than the architecture and the brewing business I was fascinated with the art collection here. Some amazing paintings are shown here which were collected by Pabst family. If you enjoy art and history, a visit to the Pabst Mansion is a must.
Dale McCord
Oh my goodness.... you have to see this place!
Roughly $15/ person to take the tour, very interesting facts and history about this place and the "memorabilia" included
Very cool home to check out, definitely a good place to check out while anyone is in Milwaukee area, if you have a couple hours to burn.
Narine Harut
I got a ticket for 3 p.m. tour and because I was the only one, my tour was kind of private 😊
Place was beyond amazing, amazing history, beautiful decorations for Christmas, nicely preserved and they still working to continue getting items which was belongs to that house and she told me that they got the money for renovation, which going to happen next year and it's going to be more beautiful.
Thank you to everyone who's working hard to preserve and make better for future.
VL Rydberg
Holiday at the mansion. This is so beautiful and full of history. The staff is very accommodating and very helpful. They answer any questions you may have all the way to the heatung system. It is very accessible in restrooms and entryways and elevator to each floor. It is walker-friendly. the aisles are wide and comfortable. There is a marvelous gift shop and throughout the house there are areas where you are able to purchase ornaments at this time of year that are made of beeswax. You can take advantage of guided tours in tours with special lighting at night. There are not many of these types of mansions left in fact the Pillsbury Mansion is now being destroyed as it wasn't able to be kept up. As you see in the photos there are upkeeps being done here and your patronage is key to keeping Milwaukee history alive. If you are from out of town this will be one site you do not want to miss out on. If you're from Milwaukee be a tourist in your own town learn your history feel your history and if you think you liked living in Milwaukee before you will love living in Milwaukee once you learn about the Pabst Mansion and see its beauty..
Alexander Alexander
If you're an architectural nerd, then you would enjoy it like I did! It's the most wonderful estate I've visited!
Lori Paczkowski
Spectacular architecture and woodworking/carving. The staff was very knowledgeable about the history of the home and the Pabst family.
Jim Rood
Wonderful place! We went on the evening Christmas tour. Three floors were decorated for Christmas. The restoration of the rooms is incredible. Plenty of woodwork and period furniture. Very informative self guided pamphlet. Volunteers are also available to answer questions. Gift shop has plenty of Pabst gear!
John Bacelis
Was a fun tour of one of the Beer Barons homes, it was great to hear the history of the home and its surrounding area. Enjoyed hearing about the process of restoring the house and seeing room brought back to the life of yesteryear. Though several of our tour companions felt the need to try and talk over our tour guide. Other than that it was a great time
P. Kahn
The Pabst Mansion gives a great guided tour providing insight into the Pabst family, its history and all of the details of the home they built in Milwaukee. Our guide Barb did a fantastic job and answered all of the questions with just the right amount of detail. The fees help keep the house in shape and provide funds for restoration, so it feels good to help out. Definitely recommend you provide an hour of your time if you're in MKE.
Keysha Valentin Pedrosa
Very interesting place our guy was a very nice and fun lady who made the tour awesome!
Martin Rudd
Highly decorated for the holiday season and a gently placed self guided tour made for a great visit. The styles of the rooms are amazingly different and each one has a story with it.
Mitchell Musack
One of the last remaining great Mansions on what was Grand Avenue. The Pabst Mansion is a time capsule of the late 19th century and it houses a good portion of the original furnishings. After 40 years the foundation is still bringing this Milwaukee gem back to its original glory. So if it's been over ten years since your last visit I would recommend a return trip.
Meeyun Y
Great tour! My third time coming to the Pabst Mansion tour in the last few years. We had a great tour guide, I didn’t catch his name but he had brown hair and glasses. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Took my boyfriend here for his first time and he also loved it! Thanks so much. Will come back again. ☺️
Trisha Johnson
Our guide was extremely informative and answered all our questions. She even involved my 4yr old twins who were not so interested. 😄 …
Kevin Walker
Wonderful guided tour to really convey the history of the home.
Cassie
Great tour (Dave was wonderful tour guide, very knowledgeable) of a beautiful mansion with lots of history! Recommend, even if you're not a lover of Pabst beer - very cool!
Anna M
Great tour guide who was obviously very knowledgeable and enjoyed communicating his love for the historic mansion! He answered all questions and had good stories. Parents from out of town enjoyed the experience.
Julie Ponsler
A most remarkably maintained piece of Milwaukee history. The craftsmanship of this building and its contents are simply amazing! I highly recommend visiting the Pabst Mansion!
Shelly Kueny
The guided tour was awesome and really interesting and informative. Our tour guide was amazing!
Lynn Winston
Great tour with Roxy. We took people from out of state but I think locals understood much more of the local references. But so many great stories. Beautiful place slowly getting restored.
john wolfe
What a great experience to learn about the history of Pabst and get a chance to see original items from that Era. This is a must see for anyone visiting the area.
Alex
Such a gorgeous house with amazing tour guides and lots of things to learn. It is not completely renovated but 95% done and looks beautiful.
Shelton Freddy
Superb architecture. It’s a 1 hr guided tour, but for the small kids it will be a bit boring.
Abdelrahman Ellithy
The place is not giant as I thought, it is just a big house, however the interior was breath taking, and the staff are super friendly, Barbra our guide worked there for 9 years and seemed to know every single detail, great respect to her!
Stephanie M
Beautiful architecture. The detail of wood work, stained glass and the history was impressive. The tour guide was very knowledgeable of the family history and home restoration. I wish we were able to take photos of the inside for memorable moments, but was told we could not.
James Carroll
The tour was out of this world. Barb was so knowledgeable like able and friendly. She made it such a great experience.
Linda Kapovich
One of the best tours ever!!! Beautiful home restored to it's original grandeur. Great knowledge staff
Jeffrey Svarverud
Great 👍history and a a beautiful home and tour. I highly recommend this tour. Do not worry about the stairs there is an elevator. …
Karaline
This was a really cool tour. The only way to see the house's interior is through a tour. They offer tours on the hour and they have senior and student discounts available. Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. There is a floor that is largely unrennovated, but the rest of the house has had incredible work done to restore it to it's original splendor. There are also photos of the family so you can kind of envision their life in the home. Definitely a fun activity to do if you enjoy history and walking tours.
Larry Glick
Beautiful place, especially at Christmas time!!
Andrea Newton
Visited the mansion with my family for Christmas. We were told there would be a docent in each room but they were not very accessible to us. I did mention to a docent that I wondered how they traveled the tight staircase with their gowns and she condescendingly stated, “Mrs. Pabst would never use the servant’s stairs”. I simply smiled and mentioned to my daughter that I believe the servants wore rather wide gowns also. There was no furniture in the master bedroom which was disappointing and the sink in the kitchen was full of ornaments which made it difficult to see it. There were a few advertisements of who decorated the individual rooms which I thought was unnecessary. Outside the home there was a very distasteful sour smell, the ground was covered by what appeared to be fermented fruit. It would seem to me that the caretakers would pay equal attention to the outside as they did the inside of the house.
Natosha Melton
This place is beautiful and architectural details are stunning.Barb, our docent, made it even better. She was an excellent guide and the history she provided, really brought the mansion to life.
Randall Fleer
The mansion is beautiful and extremely well preserved. The tour was interesting and compelling. Kudos to Karen for her knowledge and her gift to share it.
George Dawson
excellent tour. Mansion is amazing
Therese Davis
Amazing details inside, lots of handcarved wood built-ins and trims. Go on a Pabst/The Best Place tour afterwards to see and learn more about the Pabst family.
Jason Giles
Beautiful historic tour. The mansion is very well taken care of and restored.
Jessica S
The Pabst Mansion Twilight Tour was a wonderful event and would highly recommend. It something the whole family can enjoy.
David Paredes
A gorgeous home filled with intricate design, no room or detail was half thought out. Not to mention the sweetest tour guides!
Sarah Curry Link
Beautiful mansion with so many ornate flourishes and detailed craftsmanship. The docents were knowledgeable and every staff member we encountered was helpful and friendly. We visited during the ikebana floral exhibit, which was so lovely!
My one suggestion would be to put a number sign in each room corresponding to the numbered rooms on the map to indicate which room it is. It was sometimes confusing to figure out which room we were in. Overall, a great experience though.
Jillian Ollry
Unique place to kill and hour or so of time and learn the history of the midwest's more famous beer. Get there at minimum 30 minutes before a schedule tour as tickets go quickly!
Michael Garrido
Amazing tour and history of the area.
C Ackerman
This place at Christmas was magical. The history and architecture was a dream! The staff was so knowledgeable too. It’s a must go!
Colleen Dunlea
We took the guided tour and had a really great experience here. We are from Boston and essentially knew nothing about any Milwaukee history and our tour guide, Jim, was really informative and we learned a lot on the tour! It is really a beautiful mansion with a rich history. So glad we made this part of our Milwaukee trip.
Jayme Hancock
A nice tour of the historic mansion. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, and the staff was friendly. The house has a lot of beautiful and interesting details with stories to match.
Scott Jackson
Great tour of this fabulously restored, fully furnished home. The tour gave us a detailed look into the Pabst family as well as the American beer industry. An EXCELLENT value for the price.
Helen Engberts
Beautiful building with lots of interesting history. We were very lucky with our tour guide who was energetic, knowledgeable, and visibly passionate! If you get a chance, it is more than worth your time!
Chris Herrera
Honestly, you have to go and experience this enchanting Pabst Mansion. The tour guide was AWESOME! The history you get from this is worth going again to show off to Family and Friends . They have a cute gift shop as well, so make sure to take home a souvenir with you. My Fiance and I will be going back for Christmas.
They decorate the mansion beautifully.
fran B
Great brew tour Ken was great. I'll be back to see that top floor in the future
Chad Byler
Absolutely beautiful restoration work has been done to this building. The tour was great, very knowledgeable tour guide. Highly recommend going on the tour, well worth it.
Erik Jesinski
Cool historical mansion, great tour.
Beth
I've had the pleasure of touring a few different restored historic homes across the US, but this one is definitely near/at the top of my list. It was clearly very well cared for in-between the time the family owned it and it was restored, plus much about the original state of the home was documented. This greatly assisted in returning it to its former glory, which is evident throughout the tour.
One the coolest things about this mansion is the variety of decorative styles you'll see from room to room- very unique and incredibly cool. I've never seen anything quite like this house, and I would highly recommend to anyone.
Sergio Perelli
I think our tour guide may have been new because I could tell she was trying to remember all of her information. This made her a little awkward and her jokes fall flat. The house itself is impressive, especially given its historical context within the city, but I just couldn't get over our tour guide.
Mark Delmonte
Tour guide was very rude and felt rushed. But amazing house.
Bill Gately
Excellent tour of an old mansion
Tilottama Lokre
There are many historical things.roof carving ,furniture ,all rooms are well maintained and attractive .
kdbe923
So beautiful, especially decorated for Christmas 🎄 …
Robin Fox
Beautiful old Mansion. Loved the ladies who worked there in the gift shop and giving the tours. A must see when you are in Milwaukee.
Amy Tropp
One of 3 mansions remaining in what was once a very affluent neighborhood. Support historical preservation and enjoy a visit to this time period. The tour includes an impressive remnant from the Worlds Fair.
Samuel Crisanti
What a beautiful place! Located right near Marquette University, it is in a cool section of Milwaukee. More impressive though, are the 37 rooms of this mansion! Amazing woodwork, and a great prince of Milwaukee history. I learned a great deal about The Captain! A recommended rainy-day activity. It's a little pricey ($12 for 75min tour) but worth seeing once.
Bryce Caster
Very large mansion that has been undergoing a restoration for the past 30+ years. Most rooms are in pristine condition. The tour takes about 90 minutes and is extremely informative. A must-see.
Wilson Wright
Fascinating history of the mansion and Milwaukee barons life at the turn of the century. Also the history of the house after it left Pabst family hands. Knowledgeable tour guide able to answer questions.
Gloria Witt
We got married here 9 years ago. It was such an amazing backdrop with so many fantastic rooms and history. It was decorated for Christmas and it was amazing. This is a wonderful place to visit and learn about the history!
Michelle Cresswell
Roxie was a great tour guide! She had really interesting information about the mansion and family. The tour is really quite interesting and gives you a peek into the life of luxury in the past. Must see!
Carol and Mac Todd
Fabulous mansion with amazing furniture and paintings. The free beer included in the cost of admission was appreciated
Tamara Budjac
...Our tour guide Roxy was exquisite! wonderful tour, fascinating history!...
L. P. Stokes, MBA
Fun and very informative tour. I don't drink beer 🍻 but I sure had a taste this day. Not disappointed either. …
Britt Saunders
Simply beautiful! Staff is knowledgeable l, helpful and friendly. A recommended place to see.
Rock Beauchamp
Tours are very reasonably priced. I went to the Saturday evening Beer tour, and each guest got two beers each. Two beers alone was nearly worth the cost of the ticket. Our tour guide Ken was very knowledgeable and also had a very good sense of humor. The house itself was in phenomenal shape, and there was a lot of fascinating history. Items in the gift shop were reasonably priced as far as gift shops go too. My only complaint is the beer tours do not get to go to the 3rd floor, and apparently the other tours do. Would definitely recommend and look forward to going back.
Valentine Lewis
Wow !!!!!!! Worth every cent!!!! So beautiful! Highly recommending it ! 18$ for an adult
Jeff Cowman
Highly recommended, beautifully kept and restored mansion. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining.
Audrey Hart
Wonderful tour and history, I enjoyed learning about this family and their influence on Milwaukee. They are still in the process of renovating some rooms and it's great to see that this is possible. It's great to hear it has functionality also where it can be rented out for events.
Carla Centeno
First time I've been here. Had a one hour guided tour to explain the whole history of legendary beer baron Captain Frederick Pabst and his wife, Maria Best Pabst and their whole family through the years. Completed in 1892. Simply magnificent, such stunning architecture and craftsmanship all hand made. Stunning art collections, furniture , light fixtures, wall paper, hand made as well. I highly recommend taking a tour here. Worth your time to witness living history up close and personal!
Vanessa Waroff
Pasbt Mansion 10am Mimosa Tour was lovely. Guide knowledgeable and witty. Parking on site and nearby. A must see whilst visiting Milwaukee.
Scott S
My friend had his wedding reception here. One of the most fun weddings that I can remember. Such a unique and fun venue.
Nancy K
Beautiful old mansion. The woodwork & furnishings were stunning! Our guide was informative & enthusiastic. So glad this was preserved.
Anna
So beautiful! Lots of history. A must stop.
Jeremy Anderson
Our guide Aaron was great. The details the builder put into the mansion are amazing. Highly recommended
Gerri Nguyen
Very cool mansion. We didn’t do a guided tour (we did a self tour) but there were plenty of great folks on each floor to answer any questions and give more details about each room. Spent ~1hr+ there. Purchased tickets online but can buy in person. Wasn’t busy when we went (12pm on a weds). Employees were super nice & resourceful of Pabst knowledge and Milwaukee go-to spots!
Guided tours are every hour, parking in the back / side of the mansion
Chelsie Mattek
The tour was fantastic, our guide was extremely knowledgeable and the mansion is gorgeous. I didn't realize anything like this existed in Milwaukee! I highly recommend checking out this local gem.
Diane Griffin
Beautiful mansion!!! Very friendly, informative staff! We greatly enjoyed our visit there!
Regina Cecconi
Great docent lead tour. It was interesting to hear the history of the family and home. Well worth the trip, the renovation is spectacular. Amazing the detail in the woodwork.
Trex Trex
Beautiful former home.
Theresa Bollhagen
Very cool history here! The staff was very knowledgeable about said history which made it even more enjoyable. We went for a self guided tour in the early evening and could even have a beer (Pabst of course!) while we walked around.
DD Wilson
Our guide was knowledgeable but very short and dismissive of any inquiries from the tour, even when she asked if there were any questions.
Debra Wiedemann
The day we were there, we only had time to view the building from the outside. The intricate details were just amazing. The upkeep of the building has been done right! We will make time to view inside the next time we are in Milwaukee!
Margaret Larkin
This place is chock-full of beautiful art, not just on the walls, but in the superior craftsmanship that's in the woodwork, molding, painted walls, furniture, etc. There's a lot to take in, so the tour seems sort of rushed.
Karen Copper
It has been many years since I have visited the Pabst Mansion. My Milwaukee Ikebana club has been invited to put on a floral exhibition throughout the rooms there, on all three floors that are open to the public now. We got a private tour to see the surroundings and furniture, etc., so that we could pick out the areas for our many arrangements and be able to coordinate with room colors, themes, and accessories. It is a beautiful building and they are doing a great job of restoration. I especially enjoyed the music room and its small table - sized music box. The exhibition will be set up Thursday, April 28th and run through Monday, May 2nd.
Fitzgerald Scott
They have beer
Amy W
Wonderful piece of history. Carole was a great tour guide!
Theresa Malloy
Hubby and I have gone here a couple years at Christmas season. The volunteers are so knowledgeable they have every room decked out for Christmas it’s just gorgeous and you learn a lot of history
Robert Stevenson
Beautiful artwork, well decorated, great history, incredible carved and ornate woodwork, original fixtures...a must see!
Heather C
So glad I got to tour this place, it was decorated for Christmas and so pretty.
Scott Perdue
We weren’t sure what to expect, but we really enjoyed this tour! We were visiting Milwaukee for the first time and this was one of the top rated things to do. We weren’t sure if it would be worth $15/person for a guided tour, but it absolutely was! My wife and I were the only ones for our particular tour (10a on a Thursday), so we had a private tour. Beautiful house and it was cool to learn how a wealthy family lived in those times.
Queen B
We went to see it decorated and I highly recommend it!
david kindness
Was amazing ..Tour guide was awesome.. Recommend this tour..
Jeff Salefski
If you like history or architecture you will love this tour
Fort Couple
Fantastic tour of one of the only mansion's still standing from that era. Very informative guides! Highly recommend if in Milwaukee.
John Nitis
Only two left from this Era in Milwaukee. Only Pabst open for tours. An exquisitely designed home inside and out. Pabst was ahead of his time. He had home wired for electricity but also set to revert to gas if electricity didn't catch on amongst populace.
Don Byrne
Awesome tour.
Robbie & Stefani Beierle
Went on a tour here, very good information!
brittany buie
Don't like guided tours but there was no choice . Older lady running the tour was very curt and off putting. The mansion was gorgeous. Hope they can continue restoring it. College town so parking was a little harder.
Kim McGarr
Beautiful home and the story of the Pabst family was so interesting! Our docent Barb did a fantastic job!
Richard Seidemann
Made reservations for tour in advance and printed out the tickets. When we got there, they scanned our tickets and tour started on time. House has been restored to late 1800s to early 1900s. Family descendants have donated many items back to the house and some members are on the board. Much of the house has been restored as it was based on original photographs of the period. Very beautiful. They are still doing some restoring as it's a slow and expensive process. However most of the house has been restored. Represents a period of Milwaukee's history.
Elma Platte
Learned a lot about the history. Amazing place to see when you are in Milwaukee. So beautiful inside.
Jill Fagan
Pabst Mansion was a must see. Incredible how historians try keep it to its history. I love tour of mansion . I have no cons on this place. My opinion.
Merry Sea
This was well worth the entrance fee. A great experience. Not only do you get the history of the Pabst mansion but you also get a wonderful Christmas display. The gift shop is pretty cool too
Michael Hamilton
Very informative. Knowledgeable hosts, beautiful interior. Made me a fan of PBR even though I hadn't tried it before.
Amy Zesbaugh
Swoonworthy home! Our tour guide, Ken, was entertaining and knowledgeable. What a treat!
Thomas Faust
Great to be here! Wonderful tour!
Steve Capps
A very interesting place to visit. I learned a lot about the Pabst family and the time period they lived in plus the history of the mansion by taking the tour.
Jorge N (Nuts4d)
Absolutely stunning architecture and interior design. Tour was entertaining and educational while also including interesting technological innovations for a house of the time. Would definitely take for a second time.
Lewis Butler
Well run tour. Mine was a bit crowded (15+ people), the one after us had 2. Interesting mansion, not a must do if your in town, but interesting none the less.
Roseann “LEXI” Way-Nollette
What a BEAUTIFUL mansion. We took the tour and learned a lot.
Glen Campbell-Adams
Really fun and informative tour. Staff was friendly, and mansion was really cool to see and learn about.
Marshal Lane
Great tour super informative!!!
Patrick
I had a low bar set in my mind for this tour. The guide was incredible, and I learned a lot of unique history. Definitely worth the visit.
Debra Schoenike
Absolutely beautiful! Christmas decorations make it perfect!
Jeanne Waelchli-Traut
Because we had a very large group, we called weeks ahead to set up a tour. Everything went so smoothly. The docents were well-informed, with a great sense of humor. The house has beautifully detailed woodwork and stained glass. It was interesting to learn the process for restoring the rooms. Excellent tour!
Jason Erickson
The architecture and history are amazing the guides are friendly and informative. Definitely worth a stop.
Skin Quilt Productions
This mansion tour was really fun and interesting. They have spent an unbelievable amount of time and money into it's restoration. The admission price was fair and the guide did a great job. She was a little old lady who knew literally everything about the mansion and made sure the large group I was a part of was included and comfortable. I would definitely recomend this if you like mansion tours.
Jonathan Espiritu
Gorgeous mansion of the family that started PBR. Kept in amazing condition
Heather Rose Morris
One of the best preserved old historic mansions I have seen (and I've seen more than a few!). They have given meticulous attention to detail and everything is very accurate and well explained by the very knowledgeable tour guide. Absolutely beautiful woodwork and hand painted wall coverings. Just stunning! And just enough history of the Pabst family to inform but not bore. The only complaint we have is that our tour guide really rushed us from room to room and refused to give you any time to look or take photos at all when she was done with her explanation of the room. We really felt like we had to look really fast and rush to the next part. We left feeling a little bit dazed and wanting more. The tour was just over an hour; we felt another half an hour would have been plenty of time to take away that rushed feeling. Overall, though, totally worth the time and money and visit to a not-so-nice part of town. Beautiful place!
Jacob Forbes
Beautiful old Mansion in the process of being brought back to its full former glory. Great history behind a great beer.
Gary Carnahan
Very interesting - took the tour. Would reccomend it.
Ken W.
An amazing period house that reflects Milwaukee's German and beer heritage. Beautiful architecture and furnishings. A real snapshot of a bygone era.
William Finn
Amazing historical self-guided tour. I would highly recommend during the Christmas season as the decorations around the Mansion are incredible.
Jim Wilson
Beautiful home, and our guide was very informative and clearly loves teaching the history of the home and the Pabst family. A great attraction, well worth visiting.
Jim House - gMail
This was a great history of the man and the company through where he lived. Highly recommend doing this tour and then do the brewery tour. The brewery is no longer in production but the combination of both gives you a great understanding of the man and his company!
Annie Salvaggio
Such great history! The architecture is amazing. If you can go to see it at Christmas it is beautiful! It is a Milwaukee treasure
Thomas Repsha
Great guided tour, a must do when visiting Milwakee! Caroline our guide was extremely knowledgeable and made our tour very enjoyable.
Jessica Poindexter
So this was a pretty cool history tour. Ken was our tour guide. Very informative. You can tell he's interested in the history of the home which makes a difference on the tour.
Peter Folkert
We went to the Pabst Mansion for a tour. It was awesome. Our guide was super knowledgeable and was willing to take questions as we went along. She interacted with us and told us anecdotes about Captain Pabst's life. Not being from Wisconsin, it was fun to learn about it's history and the founder of Pabst Brewing. When in Milwaukee, make sure you do this tour!
Matt Padleckas
Nice tour and a fun experience for any history lover. Karen was a wonderful tour guide.
Brandon Williams
I went to this place thinking it would be an aokay experience but I left with having one of the best tours I’ve ever been on. The tour guide was super knowledgeable and did a great job leading the tour. The home itself is one of the coolest estates I’ve ever been in. The home tour is also very cheap for what you’re getting. The home is nice but if more restoration money came in then the home would be even more perfect. Do go to this place if you have the time.
Daniel Koehnen
Very nice historical home, very well done restorations being done. Our tour guide was very informative of the home and family history. It's a must see if you are in the arra
Evie Enderle
Such a fun and informative tour! Our tour guide, Carolyn, was very knowledgeable and kept our attention with every detail. The mansion is beautiful and accommodating for visitors with physical disabilities. It does not look like much from the outside, but is very impressive on the inside. We are excited to visit again in a few years to see the changes made during the upcoming restoration.
Linda Kamikawanolan
A glimpse into the elegant past. The art and craft man ship is beautiful. The guide was very knowledgeable and fun. Well worth the price of the ticket.
Ironman Detectorist
Took the tour today with my family! Excellent example of what it was like for the wealths living conditions in the late 1800’s! Tour guide did an amazing job describing the different rooms. And, the hand carved and painted features of the rooms are a great example of the 19th century pride the craftsman had! Plan on a two hour time frame at this wonderful site!
Katie Skrzypczak
Enjoyed the tour and learned a lot about the history of the area and the Pabst family. A must see while visiting Milwaukee.
Austen Gage
Extremely knowledgeable docents! Very thorough tour.
Adam Lim
Great mansion with friendly tour guides.
Ada Hanson
Well what can i say that others haven't lol. We were lucky and had a really private tour on a slow day at the end of May. Lovely tour guide who clearly loved the home and what she did. Very informative, can't wait for the atrium to be restored to the way it was when moved from the World's Fair original location and before the church got ahold of it. It is very exciting to see all the works in motion here. The home itself is fantastic and inspirational.. what a great place this must of been to grow up, the best it could of been for the times with electricity and utilities and kitchen. Great place do drop in and take a visit if you have opportunity.
John Chatfield
The home was nicely decorated for the holidays with Christmas trees in most of the rooms. And the history given by the staff was interesting. A guided tour followed us and the tour guide had much more interesting stories to share. I would recommend a guided tour rather than a self guided one.
Natalie Plaszewski
We ended up catching the last tour of the day and there was just my husband and I and another couple. I am not going to lie, I didn't want to go, but my husband really wanted to. However, during and after the tour, I really appreciated that we went. It was VERY informative and a really amazing mansion. I highly recommend attending the tour and wearing comfortable shoes as some details in the house is explained that one will miss if you have no prior knowledge of the mansion. Alongside the tour guide, they explain almost every piece of the house along with some stories/history that has occurred. I asked if the mansion is haunted and got a "Not really haunted". Enjoy!
Roya Karimi
Liked it. Friendly staff. It worth visiting there.
Karen Jahns
This was my first visit to the Pabst Mansion. I would highly recommend going here when they have their Christmas display up. It's a beautiful historic home. They do not allow photography inside the house. There are volunteers throughout the house to answer any questions. You are given a nice guide booklet that describes different details about each room. They are working on getting some restoration work done on various parts of the house.
Allen Zwieg
Tour guide was very knowledgeable and kept the facts interesting and entertaining.
heather Little
Lawn hadn't been cared for, looked pretty run down on the outside. Tour is overbooked. Couldn't fit in rooms or hear what she was saying. Too many people on the tour. Think with a smaller group it would have been really good.
Kevin Howard
Fantastic tour of a truly fascinating history and era. The architecture and antique furnishings were were supremely impressive. I highly recommend this visit.
Seth Pratt
Very cool. The Christmas decorations were very well done and the house itself was dripping with class snd craftsmanship. Its disappointing how much we've devolved.
Karl Henk
Beautiful place. Great tour.Roxy was very informative and she really made the tour special. My wife and I will definitely be back at Christmas to see all the trees. What will you have??? A PBR of course.
Bill Cleveland
The Pabst Mansion provides a glimpse at how one of Milwaukee's captains of industry lived at home. Far more opulent than most people, certainly of the time. The mansion is well preserved and the docents do a good job of bringing history alive with stories about the family and happenings at the mansion.
John Hester
Fascinating tour and docent (Barb) did a great job describing the history and architecture. It appears a "behind the scenes" tour is offered to go more in depth with details and visit more areas of house (attic and basement) - would have loved to do that, so will try for it on a future visit.
Giselbert Parkhurst
We are so glad we toured the mansion while in Milwaukee. It's well worth the time and the tour price is reasonable. We toured on a Sunday and wanted the noon tour since we were heading onto Green Bay that day and didn't want to be delayed. A good tip is to check if the gift shop has opened early to sell tickets. We got there slightly before noon to find out others had bought tickets already. We snagged the last four tickets so it worked out.
Warren Smith
We arrived right at closing. Nice mansion.
Bob Paxson
Very interesting with the tie in to the world Fair, any place that supplies free beer during the tour gets 4 stars.
cat m
Amazing, nice staff, beautiful mansion.
Amy Henze
Great tour, definitely reccomend the curated tour!
Mary Hayes
A very impressive mansion. Beautiful detail throughout the house with mahogany, oak, birch wood etc. Gorgeous gold and satin walls. An amazing family one would appreciate. What abplus that many items are original to the house or have been returned or donated! Loved the experience. Carolyn was a great guide host!!!
Cyndi Kramer
A tour rich with the history of Milwaukee, the Pabst family, and beer in a masterpiece of architectural design and decor. The restoration is phenomenal (and ongoing). With so many tantalizing details and very knowledgeable docents each offering a little different twist on the extensive history, it warrants more than one trip. Affordable, would recommend a weekday visit for a slightly more intimate experience, although groups are capped at 25 even on weekends.
Kelly Pinter
Went at Christmas so the extra decorations were beautiful. Only draw back at that time it's self-guided. Other times a guide will tell you info about the mansion and family. Well worth the money, I might go again
Scott Scanlon
The mansion is really nice. The tour was informative, and the gift shop has good stuff. The only suggestion I would have is to make the tours smaller, or when there are large amounts of people split the group up. It was difficult to see some of the rooms since they were small, and with 10 or more people it's a bit cramped.
Jamie S
I would definitely recommend going here! This is my second time going. My first time was about 15yrs ago and then 10/14/17. Many new restored rooms to see! I heard the best time to go is during the Christmas season. Will go back again someday. It's educational and tells how close the Pabst family was and still is. If you bring young children please realize that you should pay close attention because they are strict on touching anything in the house. If you are in a wheelchair or have a hard time with stairs they do have an elevator for you to use.
Yorgo Latimer
The Pabst Mansion is a stunning Flemish revival structure - very ornate with heavy German influence as you would expect from a leading beer family. The tour guides are well-informed and make the tour interesting. Guided tours are on the hour, but what is not clear in advance is that you MUST take a guided tour - you cannot walk through at your own pace. So don't show up at 10 minutes after the hour because you'll be waiting awhile for the next tour. Plan ahead and you will be glad you visited this property. Pabst Mansion makes the family and beer industry culture more understandable than if you only tour a brewery.
lindsey lindlbauer
Attended on a free admission day while looking for something fun to do outside the city. Was a unique experience. Multiple tour guides in the house, stationed to guide you but most did not have any information or ability to answer questions. While they were volunteers, it would have been nice for them to share a bit of insight or knowledge about the rooms of the house. Overpriced for a short visit, not something you’d return to do multiple times.
Kathie Ruelke
Beautiful architecture and interior finishes. Tour guides were friendly and well informed.
Frank Lucas
It was good to see history. Was visiting Milwaukee and been here numerous times but I've never been on any tours or anything it was exciting to see and to learn about the Pabst Family.
Paul Concannon
Beautiful old mansion. Tour guide was great. Been meaning to go here for years and glad we finally did.
D G
Beautiful building and our tour guide were great at informing us about the building. My only issue was with his flashlight. He uses it to direct peoples attention to objects in the building but if you're the person standing in front of the object he'll shine it right in your face (very bright light). It happened to me twice and a few other people in our group as well.
Thomas Shoback (TomS)
The mansion was beautiful and the tour illuminating. You will walk away far more knowledgeable not only of the Pabst family history but of the greater Milwaukee city history and the life they lived with other major local entrepreneurs. Our tour covered the history of the Pabst family life while moving through their 3 story home over about an hour and 15 min. I think you'll appreciate the intricate woodwork and detail throughout the house.
Kay Schwob
Neat building, lot of history to it. Nice tour.
Andrew McGowan
Beautifully decorated for the holidays. I didn't take the tour as it seemed a touch long but the pamphlet you receive gives a good synopsis of each room. Admission fees are a little higher than I would like but not completely prohibitive.
Felicia Johnson
Was something was wrong with the Pabst's? The mansion is over the top Ostentatious. But the tour price was cheap. And the docents were really knowledgeable and kind.
Amanda Pedersen
The architecture and design is amazing. I wish craftsmanship like that still existed today. The docent was very knowledgeable and I learned a lot. The gift shop has cute gifts like a beer can candle and beer soap. I would definitely recommend.
Bridget Johnson
Gary the volunteer was amazing! Very knowledgeable and could answer any question you had and had history to add to it!
Michael Morien
Great piece of history that was saved from destruction. Tour is well worth your time.
Zola Cater
Beautiful home with great guide. The wood in the house is wonderful, as well as all the details. Don't miss seeing this mansion.
Mitchell Horton
The tour was great and provided a comprehensive history of the Captain and his family. The tour lasted about and hour and was worth the money. The architecture and preservation of the house were impeccable, I highly suggest you go if you have the time.
John Lester
Very cool place. High admission price, but the tour was very informative and much of the things you'll see are true and authentic - some of it isnt. Great tour guide. Would go back in a few years to see if or what they've updated more
Michelle Urena
Visited Re-opening weekend. It was wonderful! Staff/volunteers were helpful & informative. Very neat piece of Milwaukee history. Highly recommend for anyone.
Anita Sacia
It's great fun stepping back into the early 1900's! Such beautiful original ornate woodwork to view everywhere. The bonus is to have its original restored furniture and a great deal original to the home!Thank you for the for foresight of many generous people to save and restore this historical timepiece. A must see!
Shannah Dutka
This was a great tour. The guide was informative and we had a great time learning about the Pabst and Best families. When visiting Milwaukee, it’s a must.
Jim Horst
I’ve been to many other house museums in the country and I think this is one of the best. The docents are very knowledgeable and the staff is friendly. I’ve been to many events here, but make the Christmas Gala an annual tradition. I actually liked the Pabst so much, I became a volunteer.
Emma Guelde
Great workers provide interesting information and humor with the tour. Also went into further detail into the refurbishment process.
Laura Hott
Our tour guide was incredible! Very factual and entertaining. Definitely worth the visit.
Amy Anzia-Dodson
Really lovely tour!! House is beautiful, especially during the holidays. There is an elevator, very accessible to all.
Michael Lopez
It's a great tour that fun and beautiful place. A quick tour that's worthwhile.
Ryan Simons
What an absolute historical treasure. The docents are very knowledgeable and friendly. Many art pieces to marvel at.
Tracy Smith
This place is undervalued. It is a big piece of Milwaukee history and so few people take advantage. Yes the kids will say it sounds boring, but once they get there, they usually change their minds. The membership is very much worth the 85.00 because you can go back and be a part of this evolving restoration. Mother's Day is a day with open self guided tours of all 5 levels. The daily tours take you to three of these. According to staff, they are adamant there are no hauntings and nobody has died in the house so ghost hunters might strike out. On the other hand, those afraid of old buildings because they may be haunted, no worries. I was hoping to hear a ghost story or two but not only do they squash that question if you ask, they do not like you to ask within earshot of other guests. Usually I can tell if there is a haunting and I felt nothing. But it is a great place. The house, for being as old as it is, is very structurally sound. The floors are all level, the walls show no cracks, and the stairs feel stronger than newer grand staircases so again, no worries for people afraid to go in old buildings because they fear something might cave in. (Yes, there are ppl out there and I am one of them) It is a great introduction to Milwaukee history and just might build your thirst to learn more either here in Milwaukee or elsewhere. Don't forget Mother's Day. IDK the rates, but well worth it and again the memberships because you just might want to go back to see what they do for Christmas or other holidays.
Mike Thurman
Absolutely worth the visit. This is what a mansion is....everything custom built and handmade. The technology back in the day was impressive...intercom system, etc for a home built in mid 1800's. Each room has its own theme. I will be back to soak up the historical home again!
Steve Filipiak
Don’t count on seeing the Burke Brise Soleil wings open on schedule. No one will alert you when the lake breeze prevents the sculpture from moving. A shame. They should post on Facebook when they are not operating. Or send a junior employee out to explain to the 23 of us who were disappointed this morning!
Cole R
One of the best Museums I've been to. So much history and so much to learn. We could have asked the guy questions for days and he wouldn't have run out of answers. There is always something being brought back to its original quality or brought in and it's unbelievable the ways they've been able to recall the past in order to do what they've done here.
Shaun Yonts
Small group tours were relatively inexpensive and very informative. As a heads up, the Pabst family only lived there about 13 years, it was later owned by the Catholic Church who whitewashed the place, and it's in the midst of a long, long-term renovation.
Great thing to do for an hour or so if you're in Milwaukee!
Rick Socha
Very interesting and informative tour. It was our first stop during our first visit to Milwaukee. Beautiful mansion. One of the better former homes we've had the pleasure of walking through.
Jarrett Prickett
Was a great place to visit and Carolyn was a very informative tour guide. Well worth the $12 if you have the time. Amazing wood craft throughout the house and interesting to see the rooms that are restored.
Nancy Bayer
Have lived in Milwaukee my entire life and this was my first time at the Pabst Mansion. Very interesting and worth the time.
J E
Great history here..nice way to peak back into the past of one of the areas foremost citizens...especially nice to see at the holidays all decorated up..very nice...a tad speedy but its worth it...
Paul Marin
Excellent tour with plenty of great history and information.
Branch
Great place. I was lucky to see the mansion decorated with beautiful Christmas ornaments and this is only available on December. It took about an hour to look around the whole house. Must visit place in Milwaukee. Absolutely, if it is Christmas season.
Jen Espino
The Pabst Mansion is a must see in Milwaukee! It is especially lovely during Christmas when it is all decked out. There is limited parking in the lot next to the mansion but there is additional parking across the street which is also free. Certain times they do guided tours of the basement and attic which are areas usually not open to the general public. I believe this is the nicest Mansion in The Midwest. They did a great job of restoring and preserving.
Melinda Smyczek
Father Time event was excellent.
Pam Elbers
Tha History is fascinating! It was so interesting to see how the privileged lived during that time! The craftmanship of that time is astounding! We were in AWE! Our guide was superb as well! Go see this if you're in the area! I still think back on it!
sarah jump
Love love love. The pabst mansion is beautiful and amazing. It has an amazing history and I really enjoyed learning about it. It a must see especially if your really into historic stuff. I would go back multiple times it's that good
Dawn Ritter
We stayed here with friends and couldn't have been happier. Great location and really cool atmosphere. Rooms were really nice too. We booked a room with the view of the city and given the view of a parking garage so that was disappointing but beisdes that it was nice.
Kyle Milligan
I took the 1 hour museum tour and it was amazing! The mansion is beautiful and the tour was very informative. I would definitely recommend coming here if you are in Milwaukee.
Doug Wells
A hidden jewel in Milwaukee. We were surprised by the ornate woodwork and the restoration that was talked about by the guide.
The reason I didn't give '5 stars' is because the tour was TOO short! I would have liked to have the opportunity to look closer at some details, but it was the last tour of the day so I completely understood.
Loretta Korba
Great place to visit! Beautiful inside and Ken our tour guide was full of information and made the tour fun!
Eileen Kennedy
Absolutely loved this tour!! Very knowledgeable tour guide with a sense of humor. If you love historical places this should definitely be on your list of places to see in Milwaukee!
Kristopher Good
Extensive tour with knowledge staff. The house restoration is 90% complete. Whether you like old mansions or have a passion for Captain Pabst's history, this is a great tour.
Shelly White
Very friendly employees. The Mansion is beautiful. The tour guide was very informative and happily answered questions.... Very worth it!!! Thank you
Scott Neurauter
Love touring these old homes. Captain Pabst incorperated some really nice features into his home. Glad it was saved from the wrecking ball many years ago. Guide was great and gave history as well.
Brandon M
Really cool piece of Milwaukee history. The house itself is truly artisan and the knowledge of the staff makes this tour worth while. I am not a huge history buff but I really enjoyed this house
Kevin Atkins
Beautiful mansion and our tour guide was great. Historical society has done a great job restoring to it's original state and continues to do more.
Judith Magestro
We visited right before Christmas. House was absolutely gorgeous. Very few other people were there. . .the staff was very informative.
Had a wonderful day. Definitely want to redo this in the spring.
Arthur Peavy
How did a family like the Gates or Bezos live in the 1800's ? Come here and see...great docents explain so much!
Peter Rodionov
Great tour! I loved the guided tour, my family not so much. They like to do at on pace. I like the history you learn from the guided.
Zoey B
Highly recommend the guided tour if you find value in learning about the history of Pabst and the mansion. Guided tour was 45 min.
Lisa B
Absolutely an incredible piece of history! Well worth the time to go. Tour is very informative and the price is reasonable. Definitely a must see!
Micah G
Great historical site for those who are into architecture. Right under your nose in Milwaukee. Get tours ahead of time.
David Robinson
Built in 1890, this mansion has withstood the test of time. Early American craftsmanship at its finest, with attention to all the details. Tours are available to learn more about Captain Pabst's historic estate. A must see for architecture buffs.
lori haggard
Wish I could of gone through the basement. But the home is beautiful.
LaRaye Rodriguez
The mansion was decorated for Christmas and quite lovely. Docents posted in various rooms gave helpful historic information. My first visit to this historic home
Virginia Annala
This was a neat experience. Wait and take the tour so you can hear about the history.
Jeanette Wozniak
Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of visiting this beautiful hidden jewel while visiting Milwaukee. The tours are self guided but there are wonderfully knowledgeable folks there who add so much to the story of this beautifully restored home. If you were a fan of Downton Abbey or have visited the Biltmore in Asheville, NC you will love this place as I did. I am from Michigan and can hardly wait to visit Milwaukee again. If you live in Milwaukee you need to support this amazing part of your history!
Chris Hernandez
Don't expect beer afterwards but do expect to learn a lot about the days when electricity was being introduced to the masses and what the rich did to make their homes stand out. The house is crazy and the history of the building is pretty cool too.
Jeanne Mease
The history and architecture was amazing. We had an excellent tour guide that was very knowledgeable. It is such a beautiful building.
Warren “WAL” Lange
Great place. Lots of detailed wood work and craftsmanship. I wished we could have seen a floor plan of the place. They give you access to most areas of the house. Very friendly staff.
Praveen NG
A nice mansion worth the visit. Only guided tours were allowed, so we had to wait about 30 minutes. But the guide was knowledgeable and had a great time.
john luman
Beautiful spot. Guides were very helpful and knowledgeable. Great that places like this are still around to get a look back in time.
Michael gnad
Awesome spot if you like history. Our guide was amazing and the house is beautiful
Marypatricia Barrett
The mansion is in desperate need of repair. It has been neglected for years and it really shows. You are free to roam the grounds while waiting for your tour and even get to use one of the bathrooms in the mansion. You need to watch your step because things are falling apart. That being said they are working very hard to restore the mansion to its once beautiful state. It is very costly to redo all the terracotta on the outside.
Peggy Onwiler
Our guide was so informative and the mansion is gorgeous. It was a wonderful step back in time with both the setting and the stories. Highly recommend..
Michael Strong
Very interesting! Great tour
Wes Ridinger
Really cool historical site that has been extremely well preserved and restored. My tour docent was very knowledgeable and friendly. I would recommend visiting this place to anyone visiting Milwaukee.
Shilpakala Chetan
An amazing architecture. It was a good tour and a well informed guide. Only inconvenience was with the restroom, it was on the other side of the building. Restroom was not clean n they have only one common restroom.
Michael Wesolowski
The tour of The Pabst Mansion was well worth the trip and money. The volunteer guide was incredibly knowledgeable and we left the mansion with so much interesting information about the Pabst family and their business.
Brett Bar
Odd place huge, beyond rich worth it and it gives back
Mike Clark
For Milwaukee this is historic. But be sure to book spots on the tour, or you will be left with nothing but a few moments in the gift shop. Not a lot of parking on property, but plenty of streets nearby.
Ethan Tusic
This mansion is so beautiful, with nice tours that take you around to all the most beautifully restored rooms.
Peter Angelos
Great winter tradition visiting the Pabst Mansion
Jeremy Wescott
A fun tourist attraction. Not everything is completely renovated yet, the tour guide said it will be another 5 years. Restoration that has been done so far is amazing.
David Clark
Well restored thanks to the fact that the Catholic church owned the property for years. They added onto the building, but didn't change the integrity. Worth the price of the tour.
Zeno Wilson
Such a wonderful place. This astounding landmark has quite the interior, and their holiday events are just lovely! I would recommend this amazing stop to anyone.
Alan Arenz
History tour provided much background of the family that lived here. Hope the world's fair addition can be saved as it needs a lot of work.
Gina Lenzen
There really isn't that much to see. Nothing really stands out. It does kill an hour if you have out of town guests. My recommendation however, would be to bring them to the museum. It is far more interesting and you can anger if you choose to.
Randall McDonald
Very good example of "state of the art" housing in the latter 19th century. Exotic wood paneling and trim different in every room. Very knowledgeable tour guide.👍 …
Frank Billeck
What a wonderful time. A stunning home. I was so taken by this wonderful museum, that I am volunteering to become a member of the tour group. A fantastic step back in history.
David Young
Well restored early 1900's mansion. Docents are very well versed in the history of the times and the Pabst family.
J0sephine Lee
The tour was fun and the woodwork is amazing. I wasn't all that drawn in by the tour guide though. A few of his stories and the Pabst Brewery tour stories don't quite line up.
Christa Dunker
Maryanne was a great and knowledgeable tour guide!
Sheri Zeiders
great and interesting tour to learn the history of mr. pabst and his family and house in America. they are in the process of restoring peices in several rooms, I would give it the 5th star after restoration is complete.
Geoffrey Gawne
Really neat house, with great decor. If you want like historical houses, this one offers more than many. Looking forward to the chapel restoration.
Jeff Scholz
A gem in Milwaukee's history. Beautiful building and furnishings. The tour brings the entire site to life, giving a glimpse into a few years of the lives of Milwaukee's great citizens.
JMW24
