I enjoyed touring the house, but I wish that either the tour was shorter or more time was spent in the house. The first half-hour of the tour was a lecture that I didn’t find that useful. I had a reservation but I think you could walk up and get on a tour.
If you want to see how another area of Milwaukee dealt with creating affordable housing then see my reviews on Greendale, Wisconsin. If you want to see how one communist country did it, then see my reviews on Dimitrovgrad, Bulgaria.

The Tour was wonderful!
Parking on street was easy to find. Just a few minutes wait to get in on the next tour!
Tour took about an hour with the explanation of the history and how it all came together.

Great tour! If you have even a passing interest in Frank Lloyd Wright architecture, a tour of the Burnham Block is well worth the time and cost of admission. The gentleman who served as docent did a fine job presenting the background and details of the homes on the tour. We had been intending to tour the Burnham Block for some time… glad we finally took the time!
Julia Taylor-Young
This is the Burnham block and the Fredrick Book house. These houses are not in tip top shape like you would expect but still worth seeing! I loved them! These houses t in a neighborhood so you can only see them from the outside.
Alexia Tillman
Fantastic tour given by an organization solely run by volunteers! A must see for Frank Lloyd Wright enthusiasts well worth the trip and the $15 donation! Cute little gift shop as well

I’m not a fan of FLW, but I really enjoy his art. Even now, his concept is still very practical and give people a lot of thoughts about architecture and home.
Samadhi Nurse
Absolutely stunning! If you have a chance to tour, highly recommend. Frank Lloyd Wright is always just pure genius

FLW's American System of housing. Take the tour and get to see the renovated interior of a B1 model. Beautiful living space under 1000 sq ft.
When the renovations on the other structures are finally completed it will look like a very smart and attractive tract development.
Tammy Bokern
Great tour of the American System homes. So glad they are being restored and preserved.
Samuel Crisanti
Pretty cool place! And some of them are open on Milwaukee Open Door weekend and even to Airbnb! At the homes were designed by FLW for his American Built home system in the early 1900s, and they all have such a unique feel and a lot of character. Very neat that this is in Milwaukee.
Jeremy Ebersole
Amazing preservation work happening here. Awesome to see Wright's houses for the masses.
Cin Brinkman
Toured 2 FLW homes. Fabulous. Models made currently locally
Nick Tallyn
Even with the modifications made by more recent homeowners, one can see the Wright influence and similarities between the homes.
deb calvey
it would be lovely if these could all be
restored.
Ignacio Alvarez
This area of Milwaukee, Wisconsin is memorable because of these houses and other very old homes. There is nothing particular about it just an old neighborhood with old homes.
Shawn Brotherton
If you're a FLW fan, this will be definitely be worth the trip.

My mom and I were on a weekend girls trip from Minneapolis and this was a must see for us. The tour guide was so friendly, knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the organizations efforts to restore these homes to their original glory. They have a ways to go but with the help of fundraising & the tours, they will get there. So cool to see the homes in person and get to go into a few of them. One major suggestions to help raise more funds is to have water available for those there for the tour. We were there on Saturday July 13th and it was incredibly hot & we forgot out waters at the hotel so we were very thirsty and would have gladly paid a good amount for bottled water. you could put it in a cooler outside of the done home on the deck. Easy $ to help the cause! Otherwise, fantastic tour & cant wait to visit again once the other homes are restored if they open those to the public as well in the future!

We took a group here from all over the country. They all enjoyed the experience of seeing the Frank Lloyd Wright designed homes. Will be back again. ArchitectureTravelCompanion.com

Frank Lloyd wright made money from rich clients but his dream was well designed affordable housing. The docent explained the ideas and history very well.

Interesting to see a whole row of FLW houses in one block. The Model B1 (the gray one) has had extensive rework done and looks great. The others, not so much. In a dodgy neighborhood, so it's best to go with a friend, even better with a group.
Christina Kolb
Great small house museum shows off Frank Lloyd Wrights ideas about how the average American should live. These were the homes that he designed with the idea of making it possible for everyone to be able to live in an architecturally designed home and the ideas he incorporated were far ahead of their time. It is a very small house. 800 square feet i believe, but well worth seeing.
Heddy St George
I live right down the block from these historic houses so I see them every day. They do give tours of the houses about once a month but I think you might need a reservation not to sure about that. I have been inside one of the houses about 40yrs ago and it is really nice
Bill Brown
Beautifully preserved private home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and available for rent. This is not a "rich man's" house but part of a failed effort to offer housing for "regular folks." Many interesting architectural features
billy tyler
Nice house I wish I was rich I'll own that house
Matt Byers
Rather well maintained homes. But of a shame more were not built.

Was just that. Frank Lloyd Wrights block. Nothing else. Was nice to see.
Jason M
Pretty cool to see but quite a drive thru a seedy neighborhood in order to get to.
Raleke Ekwena
very cool to see what architectural history there is in milwaukee. They restore the houses and turn them into airbnbs. One they keep for tour's. If you have a few extra dollars I would donate, they lost a lot of their funding to covid last year.
Far Together
Very neat to see, looks like they're hard at work on these places, there were some guys walking out with tools in hand when I was walking up to the buildings.
Derek Schneider
This is a must see on the Frank Lloyd Wright trail. So many cool models of the American system. It was an absolute treat to see some of these houses. They find raise and you can see where the money is going. They are beautiful houses. Come support a national heritage landmark.
Dale Sanderson
Wonderful buildings hopefully they will get funding to bring them back to their full beauty.
Bridget H
Small but, with exquisite details. Take the tour if you can! Where else can you see a full block of F.L.W. designed homes?
amy townsend
Cool to see several of his houses in a row!
Teresa Young
We didn’t have the time to go inside (so I can’t give my experience a full 5 stars), but they were really cool to see from the outside!
Nick Lazaris
Great to see these living examples of the prefab approach to lower housing costs while maintaining an asthetic uniqueness for the time ... 1915. The restorations are quite nice but not open to the public.
Karl K
I just find it fascinating to grow in knowledge Frank Lloyd Wright's concepts and practices.
Robin Sievila
Wonderful tour guides/volunteers. Very glad I saw these homes!
Linda Edmondson
Fantastic insights into what the famous architect dreamed he could make possible...which was interrupted by the start of World War I. Wright believe that every American could enjoy a better life in an architect-designed home!
Randall Raymond
A very interesting historical place
Manika Shrivastava
Anyone who loves architecture or has anything to do with architecture must visit! It’s located in a quaint neighbourhood and the timing of tour visits are limited. So, planning a tour is better to visit the houses from inside. Also, conveniently located near the bus stop.
D Drake
Very interesting to see smaller frank lloyd wright homes and very knowledgeable docents!

This place is awesome I love the architecture and style of Frank Lloyd Wright
Don “Thesian” Heim
Beautiful buildings. Great presentation. The care taker who lives on the block is knowledgeable and friendly!

Historically and needed still, the nonprofit trying to save these homes are doing good work at restoration and preservation
Gina Bunger
I've been to many of the FLW house tours, but our tour guide simply wasn't interested in giving the tour.
Graciela Hernandez
House is nice to visit and know the history of it
Robert Bucio
My Brother lives there with his wife.
Jay S
It's an ok place with some interesting history, but not something you need to see twice and certainly something I am glad I didn't pay to see.
Mike H.
Wow! I wish these had taken off
Daniel Brandt
Awesome tour of home would like to have seen more
Thomas Joseph
I would catch the bus on 27th + Burnham and always looked at Wright's house without knowing who's originally it was.

We stayed there 4 nights on a recent trip to visit family in Milwaukee. What a unique experience !!! Great place to stay. Large home with sleeping to accommodate up to 9 people. Full size kitchen with everything you could need to cook or entertain if you wished to do so. WiFi, tv, even movies to watch and games to play. Also ,3 bathrooms. This is one of 6 Frank Lloyd Wright homes on the Burnham Block in Milwaukee. One home is a Museum. The others are being restored. The Museum does offer tours and lots of info on these homes.
A great history experience and very convenient location. Less expensive than decent hotels with lots of privacy. It is an experience that should not be missed.
We loved it ! Awesome !!! So glad the Milwaukee Historical Society is involved in helping to save this bit of history !!! I lived in that area many years ago and remember how sad looking those homes were. Everyone involved with the restorations should be very proud of what they have done and continue to do !
YAY MILWAUKEE !
