Reviews of Currier Museum of Art
Cool mostly modern museum. Late night Thursday and w free concert maybe free for all after 3pm (?). The atrium is gorgeous and music is tasteful. Some big names like Joan Mitchell abstracts (featured in Masterworks platform). Parking on their lot is free.
They also own 2 frank Lloyd wright homes nearby. The spring/summer tours are often sold out in advance on weekends. I haven't been able to get mine!
We spent some time experiencing the museum's collections and had lunch at the Café (delicious!) before our main purpose of being there, which was touring the 2 Frank Lloyd Wright designed homes the museum owns. The home tours were fantastic, with very knowledgeable and personable docents.
We would like to go back and spend more time at the museum itself.
We highly recommend the museum, the cafe' and the home tours.
Fantastic local museum in a beautiful facility. The staff is very friendly and unobtrusive. The works on display are unique and they have a nice cafe if you need to take a break between exhibition halls. Definitely recommend if you are in Manchester.
Beautiful space with an expansive collection of works across many ages & styles. I love getting to see a Picasso, a Monet, and a Hopper in a smaller museum with more intimate viewing. I went prior to the FLW houses tour and combined the experience was a perfect day!
"Art After Work" is Brilliant!
Hopped in last Thursday between 5 and 8pm, for the free "Art After Work" event; and the gentle folksy music was the perfect way to end the day...
There's Sangria in the Winter Garden Cafe, and the Museum is open for strolling during the show.
Wonderful and Relaxing. Will definitely be back for another one, the next time I'm in Manchester.
An amazing museum, though compact, has a lot of variety. You'll find some nice European art, as well as American art, including several paintings from the Hudson Valley school. There's some nice modern and contemporary art, as well. The American crafts are nice, as well.
A lovely museum. Many interesting and creative pieces. Anyone who works here is terrific and professional. My rice bowl of "smoked salmon" poke (with hard boiled eggs in the bottom) was "a lot" less than what I expected. Coffee was great and service was excellent! Tons of dedicated parking spots.
There is a lot to see.. the whole museum can be done in 45 mins - 1 hour.. highlight pieces are Monet, Picasso, and they had a Van Gogh piece.. I definitely recommend it
Absolutely amazing and beautiful time spent on MLK day. Well orchestrated tour and community mural, and getting to hear Richard Haynes speak about his upbringing and art truly inspired me🙏 …
Excellent small museum in Manchester NH, American and European sculptures and art work of special interest was WPA in NH, and 9/11 art. Definitely worth a visit
Small museum, but several expositions are pretty interesting, especially Arghavan Khosravi works. Second floor is closed for restorations until July. $15 for entrance seems a bit expensive.
A well laid out smaller museum! Some incredible pieces from well known local artists as well as world renowned. Would absolutely recommend checking it out.
This was my first visit. I was really impressed with the variety and amount of work from classic to modern. The featured contemporary exhibit with work by Arghavan Khosravi was spectacular.
This museum is really nice they had Van Gogh, Monei..Picasso...prominent artists and a beautiful cafe, which viewed the original front of the museum while you are seated inside listening to music I really liked this museum a lot! Worth the trip, but pay to take a bus tour of the Frank Loyd Wright houses, 8 min. Away, and the museum fee is included!
Wow, who knew you could have a wedding here. Something a little different for sure. We captured some fun and amazing photos here
Awesome museum. Quite a bit of variety and the best map drawing exhibit I've ever seen by their former artist in residence. Very much worth the price. Glad we found this place.
We only had just over an hour to see museum waiting for rest of our group to meet. But we packed A LOT of viewing in that time! From early European to modern day art and visuals museum covers a great deal of art.
It still amazes me that we have such a good museum in our small city. The permanent collections are great, there are regularly interesting temporary exhibitions, and there are frequent events for both adults and the family.
This is easily one of the best things in Manchester.
We did the tour of FLW homes and it was amazing! Staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, homes were fascinating, staff took all the time to explain and answered every question. A MUST if you visit the museum
A great little museum that you can get through in about 1.5 - 2 hours. There's a litttle bit here for everyone. Whether it's early European, American made furniture, modern contemporary or an extensive collection of glass paper weights, you're sure to see something that you like.
Well stocked little art museum, lots of works, but not so many as to not be able to see it all in one day, it's the perfect size I'd say. Wide range too, lots of different works spanning various media.
Good museum with some nice pieces of historic New Hampshire furniture, lovely glass pieces, and thoughtful exhibits. Plus you can tour its associated Frank Lloyd Wright house!
The museum and gift shop were excellent on my visit. The collection of art was varied and well done. I loved how the American Art was displayed and information on the placards was interesting and gave a vision into what was going on with the artists. I finally learned why Rouault outlines his figures in black. He studied stained glass!
The cafe needs some spicing up in the food. I recommend eating before or after visiting. The gift shop professional was helpful with product information and general information.
Amazing museum with plenty of nice glass art including some Paul Stankards. Also has a cool Picasso and interesting exhibits that change regularly. I would recommend getting a half off pass from a local library and if you have a BoA credit card stop by on the first weekend of any month for a free pass. Friendly staff and beautiful building.
This museum is a little smaller than I'm used to. That doesn't change the fact that there are amazing works of art here. This is a gem in the city of Manchester and for people who enjoy art and museums, not one to be missed.
The front of the building is a little boring in architecture, but then when you get to the main staumir case it's eye catching. Of course the heart of the building where the café is, marble structure, is beautiful to sit in and relax.
This is a nice art museum. It’s fairly small, taking only a few hours to do thoroughly. But they have some impressive exhibits and a few standout works, including a Picasso and a Monet. The staff is very helpful. The gift shop was also nice.
Great place to visit. Lots to see and enjoy. Reasonable price. Great family place for all ages. Well worth a visit
Very nice museum. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My favorite was Monet.
Museum in the heart of Manchester. Free parking. Super friendly people. There is an onsite cafe making a bite to eat convenient with a good selection of items, reasonable prices, and a comfortable setting. The museum has a good mixture of exhibits. At this time they have a special exhibit of guitars.
They continue your opportunity to explore to the outside. There is also as number of programs and community events offered. Much more than just a your traditional museum.
My wife and I have the New Hampshire Heritage Museum Trail Passport and used it at the Currier so we didn't have to pay admission when we visited. Always a great museum and such a huge part of Manchester's history.
Came here for a tour of the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Zimmerman house. Tour was great with helpful and informative guides. The museum has a nice collection and a moderately priced deli inside. Blue trees looked beautiful but a bit bare as it's winter.
It’s amazing. A lot of 1400-1600 years art pieces there and it’s beautiful. Nice staff nice place.
Very nice museum. The collection is eclectic - bit of this, bit of that. I really enjoyed the modern section, which features some very interesting lesser known artists and a few big names. Definitely worth a visit.
If you have a local library card, get a museum pass from there before going here. Only paid $14 for 2 adults that allowed us to enter all the halls. Bought something small from the gift shop to support this local museum. Thrilled to see so many local New England artists being featured. Worth the visit.
Just the outside sculptures and feel of the Currier Museum is captavating. I stumbled upon it just exploring the awesome architecture around the area. I had a blast and cant wait to go back.
The Currier is a gem. This was our first visit to the Currier. It won’t be our last. From old to new, it’s an intimate experience in an interesting building. The huge WPA paintings are wonderful and we were thrilled to see a John Constable and a Lawrence Harris - unexpected treats. Childe Hassam, Marsden Hartley and Arthur Dove were not far behind in the ‘treats’ category. Before we left we enjoyed lunch in the airy restaurant. Someone knows how to make a true cappuccino. Thanks!
The Currier Museum was a great time for the whole family! We stayed there a couple hours total. I liked that you could see all the art in a couple hours, wasn’t too overwhelming. Baby friendly, super kind staff, places for mothers to nurse. There was a children’s space in the lower level, some sort of fun looking event for older kiddos. Nice cafe with great food, beautiful views, and great little museum gift shop. Loved it!!!
I really enjoyed my time in this museum. It is a small museum with decent European/American collection of old and modern art - paintings, sculptures, furniture, objects, temporary exhibits and Zimmerman house tour. Currier After Hours - first Thursday of each month. Second Saturday of each month 10 to noon is free for NH residents. Regurall admission fee Adults $15. Coffee and small shop.
This is a small museum, but the collection is well curated and displayed, and does not pretend to be comprehensive. The galleries are ample and we'll lit. The staff is helpful and welcoming, and there is a close dedicated parking lot. I particularly enjoyed an American gallery with several Saint Gaidens and Sheeler.
What a fantastic collection! We were visiting family in New England and wanted a weather neutral activity and this surpassed our expectations. A Picasso, Monet and Matisse. We didn't get to the Frank Lloyd Wright homes, but want to on a future excursion. An excellent afternoon and well worth the admission.
Lovely museum well worth a visit. Light and airy with a peaceful atmosphere. Fascinating historic furniture and art.
Had a great day at the museum. The artwork is very diverse, and the descriptions and introductions to each section give you a good understanding of what the artists of that time and region were trying to do with their work.
Very worth the trip. Especially if you have a library card. Many libraries offer free passes to various museums.
Upon moving here from NY we found the Currier to be a wonderful resource one of my favorite rooms was on the second floor , there was a wonderful collection of early American furniture and clocks many of them made in NH . Lately the collection has been removed with no explanation as to when it will return or why it was removed . The collection has been replaced by some later period pieces the clocks all of them notable have completely disappeared .I am saddened by this move to curate a vision that does not consider important facets of our local and national culture and history .
Excellent visit with friends. Clean everywhere, excellent food in the cafeteria, had an art program for vets and their spouses. Very, very nice.
A must stop in Manchester to tour the Frank Lloyd Wright homes. They take you in a shuttle. The museum also has a nice collection and a pleasant cafe.
Loved the paper weights.. really interesting collection full of tiny details and fun colors. Other exhibits were great as well. Went here for an event and their courtyard was comfortable with good food and a great atmosphere.
Love this gem of a place! Lots of new exhibits. Had a lovely lunch.
For where this museum is and the paintings it contains, it's fantastic. Now mind this can not compare with the Getty, Art Institue Chicago, etc. but it is a nice little museum. They do have a section of the museum set aside for visiting exhibits. They have a very nice selection of landscape paintings of New England.
FANTASTIC!!! I would add photos of the pieces, but it's best to experience for yourself. They have a Van Gough, Monet, Picasso, O'Keefe, and many, many more! Go to this museum... as soon as you can! An little known gem of a spot in Manchester !
Fantastic local museum tickets were 15$ at entry. Personally I enjoyed the contemporary art section and found myself lost attempting to decipher the work of these great artists!
An absolutely lovely museum with a well organized and diverse collection. The monthly art for vets event won me over so much so that I had to get a job there just to spend more time there..... Don't tell my wife.
Surprising collection in beautiful space. Easy parking. A must see.
A small but varied collection of art. The paperweight collection spanning over 200 years is incredible. The gift shop has unique items and art-related scarves and prints.
Hurrah! We at last were able to get out and visit a museum. We are so thankful for their admission policies to keep visitors safe. The exhibits were small but very interesting. We ate in the little cafe which was quite good. The only thing I would change is the use of so much plastic in the cafe instead of reusable dishes or compostable bowls and plates.
Who said small can't be beautiful ?
fabulous museum.
Fine collection of european art and even finer collection of american mid century paintings. The modern art collection had some amazing pieces too.
Local museum, took us about an hour to see everything. They had some really cool exhibits (obviously these change over time). My favorite section was the European art 16th century. Has parking and cafe. They also do brunch. Highly recommend.
Lovely experience. A short walk from the Ash Street Inn where we stayed. Loved the paintings by Picasso, Monet, Hopper, Moses, Wyeth and more. Loved the exhibit of historic Islamic rugs. We were glad that the museum requires Covid vaccination and face masks - my wife and I are vulnerable and so glad to be comfortable in the museum's environment. We plan to return this summer to tour the museum's Frank Lloyd Wright homes.
Small but very good collection. Loved the crystal art the most. It was really beautiful.
Very nice staff, art was exquisite and informative descriptions.
This art museum should be a staple for any family looking for a day trip in area! Two stories, varied and beautiful selection! It has a restaurant, as well as family art time depending on the day!
My mom and I went here on a whim as we ran errands nearby and were so pleasantly surprised by what a great collection this bite-sized museum has to offer. I look forward to returning!
Great variety of art and the perfect size. I took my mom, who is in her 70’s, and definitely not a fan of museums. Not only did she love it but she ended up buying one of the art reproductions from the gift shop to hang in her home. This museum is a wonderful treasure close to home.
Visited with a field trip, welcoming and engaging, so much to see, field trip was too short to explore it all. Clean, organized, helpful staff. We will definitely be going back as a family to explore more. One staff member told us that museums are a community resource and they want people to feel welcome. Which was definitely felt.
Small, but had some surprising pieces that I did not expect. A Picasso, Sargent, and a few others. Beautiful place and a nice experience.
Music is great. Food could be brought up a notch for the price!
A cultural oasis in an environment starved of positive stimuli.
It's affordable and the staff have always been welcoming in my experience. In highschool I would covertly visit after class hoping I wasn't seen by classmates. I don't remember paying but I've gone back to donate since.
Nowadays I take my kid so she can also return in the future and appreciate the development the growth in that span and different perceptions.
Not a big museum but beautiful place .My family and I went there and saw how beautiful this place was.My favorite was the crystal carved fish.
This is a lovely art collection. The museum of fine arts in Boston and the world Ester art museum are more comprehensive, but the Currier has some lovely pieces well displayed. The museum Cafe is quite good.
It's very beautiful and (I'm assuming) even a curator or staff mentioned some interesting things to check out. It's got your standard art things: European art(religious art), Modern art(less clear art), and then American Art(uncanny valley art).
At the time we visited, they had exhibits on Rug Art, Ceramics and Materials, and Women in Art.
Very cool art and their coatroom is pretty big.
1 weird point, we were followed by a docent and told to maintain at least a foot distance. We never touched anything or got close, but I understand they gotta keep that stuff safe.
Very nice museum with many unique works of art. Cafe on site is very pleasant with a diverse, lighter fare menu. Wine selections are also good and compliment the food offerings. Give yourself about 1 1/2 hours to tour the museum. The gift shop is also worth a visit; well stocked and curated!
If you like art, they have a lot of it. I'm no expert, but there were artists I recognized. I enjoyed the experience. It's a fun, relatively inexpensive way to spend a few hours.
Fantastic museum. I was pleasantly surprised we found this gem in Manchester, NH. Book the Zimmerman House (Frank Lloyd Wright) tour in advance.
One of the hidden gems of New Hampshire. Out-of-state visitors look at us and say "why didn't you tell me about this place?" Probably because we want to keep it for ourselves.
Small and easy to do in a couple of hours. Everything is well-spaced, well-lit, with excellent descriptive labels. An excellent mixture from the Baroque to modern eras, with an extra eye towards New Hampshire artists and collections. You'll see unusual pieces, such as early Monet and Van Gogh. Special exhibits are always interesting.
Plan your visit to coincide with food service in the cafe. Lovely atmosphere. And if you're a Frank Lloyd Wright fan, make reservations for a tour of the nearby Wright homes that the Currier oversees. It's an extra charge, but well worth it. Highly recommended.
We are members and visit frequently. The Sunday brunch is very nice and we even dance a little to the wonderful music of John Chouinard.
The Arghavan Khosravi exhibit is a must see. Fabulous works of art! Made me wish I could own one of them.
The Currier Museum of Art is a superb small museum!
Delightful museum. Saw the exhibit on relationships, very interesting. So much to see, a leisurely pace.
What a wonderful little museum. We went mostly for the Frank Lloyd Wright house tour, and explorers the museum beforehand. Easily walked in an hour or two, and just the right amount of art. Such wonderfully curated pieces and cordial staff. The Frank Lloyd Wright tour was excellent. Our docents were top notch as was our driver/security.
Excellent museum. And so glad they have a Frank Lloyd Wright House as part of the “collection.”
Very nice talk from a docent about the works of various artists of the Hudson River Art Style. A very nice exhibit of Islamic rugs which was finishing its local tour. Easy to tour most of the museum in a short time.
Sorrell & Kaitlin were great to work with at their annual gala. They are very professional, attentive & responsive. We look forward to working with them in the future to continue our support of the museum!
This is one of the best art museums I've ever been to in my life and I'm a New Yorker I was very impressed I've been to several times with my family and with students and I've never had anyone ever complain it's just simply amazing
Loved my first visit! Can't wait to visit again. Nice range of art for any interest
Super friendly and open minded staff, curious and enthusiastic to showcase their collection. Bring the human side of displayed pieces. Very enjoyable atmosphere in the coffee shop.
This is a very nice local art museum with a surprisingly good collection. Well displayed, clean, and uncrowded with great art; what more could you want from an art museum. Well worth the cost of admission.
I liked this museum. I spent an enjoyable afternoon perusing the various works of art. It's not very big and I was able to view everything to my satisfaction in a few hours. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area.
There was a very nice collection here and it was well laid out. The building itself is beautiful. I'd recommend giving yourself about an hour and a half for a basic museum tour. It's not a very big museum, but it's not a very big city.
A wonderful museum and awesome art lots of different activities throughout the year.
Excellent collection and special exhibits, perfect size for an introduction to art without being overwhelming. Staff very courteous and helpful.
This museum is a little gem. They have a great selection of pieces and are continually showing new exhibits. In addition, you can book a tour two Frank Lloyd Wright houses which are close by.
One of the best smaller museums in the country. Great selection of the Old Masters, newer artists, Americana and so much more. The current exhibit (July 2021) was absolutely wonderful.
Loved the art and variety of sculptures. Was really impressed with how well maintained the museum looked, and how clean it was. The cafe was really nice and not too pricey. My big complaint is with the "security" watching over the guests. The lady walking around the place was watching everyone like hawks, really intrusive, and followed people around instead of allowing people to just look at the artwork in peace. I've been to plenty of museums, and this was the first one where I truly felt followed, and it made for an uncomfortable experience.
I was here for a wedding that was hosted at the museum. We had some time to look around and there are some beautiful works on display. Could've easily spent a couple of hours. Some of the staff either hate interacting with people or are sick of dealing with trouble patrons, they can be unfriendly or cold. Maybe they don't like working late for a wedding, who knows.
Very beautiful museum love the layout
I've been here only once with my friend who loves art as much as I do and I have to tell you, this place is MAGNIFICENT! I love how everything was so different and beautiful. And I was definitely happy when I heard they had a cafeteria there. Most of the employees were very nice and helpful. I didn't really think I was going to enjoy it but I totally thought wrong! But you should try going there and see how it is. I hope you like it. Well if you love art you're gonna love this Museum.
This was the first time I have ever gone here, and I am not typically an art museum type of person, but it was very interesting walking through and seeing all the different styles of art. The current exhibit on the human body was fascinating, and I loved the gift shop, where I bought a necklace made by a local artist.
Great event, block party, and open house of the museum. Small but great museum with variety spread over great time periods.
I loved seeing all of the different types of art on display. I brought my 10 year old with me to walk through the museum. Now he can say he's seen an original piece from Van Gogh and Picasso. The staff was friendly and everyone was COVID safe with keeping distance and wearing masks. I'll definitely be back and maybe even take a class or two!
We toured this museum and met with Courtney, the venue coordinator, in March. We decided to book it for our wedding we originally planned to hold in June. When the COVID pandemic hit, we had to postpone. Courtney and the Currier staff were super helpful and patient during this unsettling time. Once things started opening back up, we moved forward with a new date in October, as we really wanted to have our wedding during a special exhibit. They were super flexible about our ever-changing event and working with us when our guest list shrunk almost by half. ALL of the staff during the event were amazing and super nice and helpful. Everyone worked with us to host a safe and socially distanced event. We had the best wedding and I am so happy we chose the Currier! Hopefully we can revisit each year to remember the experience. We can't recommend this venue enough!
The family membership is a great deal! We can come when we want, for however long we feel like. Multiple special exhibits and events throughout the year and a nice permanent collection. An extensive art education program for all ages. A true gem!
Great assortment of new and old art. I didn't think I'd like it but the tour guide Jim did an awesome job capturing, keeping and building the children's attention.
Came here on a whim and because we had heard about the "Block Party" they we're hosting, and we had just the best time. The museum had a lot of really interesting pieces and exhibits, and it was a beautiful building. The staff was all so lovely and helpful. I definitely recommend the Currier Museum, it's a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.
A really sweet place. I love the community work they do with local schools to get kids into the museum. They really are part of the community and care about giving back. They also have some great pieces by big names like Picasso and Monet. It was great to,see some of my favorite artists in the Currier. They also have a fun childrens section so this really is a place for all ages!
In addition to seeing the Frank Lloyd Wright Zimmerman house, your tickets also grant you access to this lovely art museum.
I was here for the Shaker Furniture exhibition. The facility is very nice. The collection of works was excellent. I wish that more emphasis had been given to the craftsmanship of the pieces, instead of just their historical provenance. None of the cabinets had drawers pulled out to display their joinery, which was a disappointment. A better historical furniture exhibition can be found at the MFA in Boston.
So many interesting things to look at and paintings to admire. A great location for education and tourism
Where else in NH can you see a Picasso up close? Amazing experience !!!
Absolutely great exhibits in the museum ,knowledgable staff.
Spacious. Varied exhibits. Highly interesting, esp human body and 9/11. Standard hangings (eg picasso, monet) very good.wonderful resource for northern mew england.
Amazing museum and Zimmerman house must see
Great museum with lots of wonderful artwork, a large variety of artists and types of work. Loved the exhibition of bead work of the Ubehli women. Looking forward to the next exhibit. The Currier's cafe is great for lunch and a break in between viewing and enjoying. We'll worth visiting several times a year.
An absolutely amazing place! Free to New Hampshire residents on the second Saturday of the month with a valid instate ID. I was lucky enough to view a Picasso and an exhibit on the Shakers. It was a wonderful experience and I will be returning soon!
Great museum to spend a few hours. I got almost all the way through with the kids. We went on the Saturday that is free for residents and they had crafts for the kids throughout the exhibits. We spent just as much time drawing and sculpting as looking at art.
Beautiful museum with stunning pieces of art. There is always a changing display which is always fun and educational to go to. The Sunday brunches are great to go to with good food and good music. Love the gift shop where they have gifts around artists plus a focus area in the gift shop that is linked to the display that is being focused on by the museum. The tour of the Frank Lloyd Wright House, the Zimmerman House, is well worth the time and money as well.
The people were great and always happy to greet everyone who comes to their door. I love the displays, the pieces, the giftshop, but the people are wonderful. I will continue to keep going back time and again. Hope to see you there soon.
Was very impressed with the art collection but very disappointed with the volunteer staff. An older volunteer continued to follow my guests, and my children around making sure they did not touch anything (they didn't, we visit museums around the world and make sure to have high levels of respect for the art pieces.) We felt singled out. Not sure what we did to cause her particular dislike of us....
Having been to several museums, my guests and I were very eager to leave after such an unpleasant experience. I was quite excited to see the works they do have (O'Keefe! Picasso's! And more) but probably will not return again.
The museum is small, but perfect for the Queen City. I loved the Roberto Lugo exhibit that is currently there as well as the Critical Cartography exhibit. Both are very thought provoking. If only I had had more time...
Wonderful art museum. Such a wonderfully curated collection on display. Easily digestible without getting museum fatigue in 2-3 hours. Also loved the tour of the Zimmerman house (Frank Lloyd Wright). The docent was very knowledgeable about the house, and the architect.
A lovely way to spend an afternoon. Beautiful art.
Went for the monthly veterans day craft it was awesome. My 3 year old absolutely loved her day.
Art after work: free admission on Thursday nights
NH citizens free on 2nd Saturday of the month and can find discount coupons at library
This has got to be one of the nicest small museums in the country. My daughter has a PhD in art history so I have been to a fair share of museums. Parking was free and convenient and the basic galleries were free as well. The Currier has a very fine collection of American, European and contemporary art as well as a very interesting glass collection. Also a nice gift shop.
Wow a touch of upscale art in hometown New Hampshire! We live an hour away and I ended up buying a season membership, since one other visit this year more than pays for that. I look forward to the changing art section and revisiting old favorites. Plus the cafe has really good food. Delicious and different. I'll definitely be back soon!
Well curated with a wide range of artists across multiple galleries including American, European and Modern art sections.
A wonderful local museum featuring many of the “greats” of American art; tickets for tours of their Frank Lloyd Wright “Zimmerman House” are available online and I would recommend purchasing them in advance. Museum admittance is free with a ticket purchase. The museum itself is a family friendly and reasonably priced snacks and meals are available in their Winter Garden. An art lover’s must see!
What a great gem in the community. Great permanent collection as well as different rotating collections. They have great events too like Second Sunday Brunch and After Hours events on Thursdays. They also do a free Saturday morning general admission once a month, and on school vacations. Be sure to check their website for all kinds of different events for all ages.
It’s funny I don’t think a lot of people in NH realize that we have our own Art Museum! The Currier is awesome though, they work hard at getting new featured exhibits and keeping their collection fresh! They also offer arts classes and have a bunch of events throughout the year!
The Currier is always creative and I enjoy it each time I go. Refreshing, thought-provoking, fascinating, joyful, diverse, friendly. I would use all these to describe my experiences there. Wonderful exhibits and activities. Community engagement. Family friendly. Plus the winter garden cafe, the gift shop, and the Frank Lloyd Wright house. Marvelous.
Always a special time when going to Currier. The special guitar exhibit was fabulous. Leads you through the development and some of the extremes. Wonderful day. PS lunch at the cafe was terrific. Hot pastrami was delicious and tuna melt Devine. And very reasonable prices and very convenient.
Can't wait for the next big thing.
Museum was awesome, super friendly people all over. The standout was the guy who runs the cafe. He went the extra mile for us whipping up some food for our baby. Such a great afternoon here.
Interesting collection. Wasn’t able to visit the Frank Lloyd Wright homes (because of covid) which could’ve made it more worth the trip. Just the exhibits have a nice broad taste of different genres
Welcoming, relaxed and always changing incredible art!
Love this museum always changing their exhibits and they are always very unique and beautiful
I thoroughly enjoyed the Currier Museum of Art. It's a small museum, but I enjoy small museums because they are not overwhelming and you don't feel like you are missing something. The collection is mostly American and European and spans the ages through today. The contemporary gallery was my favorite.
Great Buffet. Omelettes prime rib even cereal for kids. Pancakes french toast scrambled eggs even some salad. Different kinds of rolls cinnamon xcetera English muffins
Islamic rug exhibit with Persian tent was an amazing treat!!! Thank you for bringing such a unique display to this area.
Recently went for a Family Night. There were stations set up for arts and crafts. Puppet performance and short films available for the kids. The Currier is a great museum with lots to offer. We enjoyed our time there and became members which allows us to private events and reciprocal admittance to a lot of other museums around the nation.
Nice size, relaxing. Great special exhibits. Much world class art, if that painting you really like looks strangely familiar, yes it is a masterwork.
Best place for first timers and kids to learn about art and the beauties. a lot of the art will be leaving soon so i would make a trip as soon as possible. there is bead art that takes the women months to create that are just stunning and they leave in june so get there fast its worth it. the textures the story they tell and there is much diversity in the art itself. Worth the trip!
Loved getting visit here and the various collections were beautiful!
We really enjoyed spending a Sunday afternoon here. They have a nice collection of all types of art in a beautiful setting. They serve Brunch one Sunday every month with live music and we will plan to do this at another visit.
Beautiful museum, well organized, great staff and volunteers. Parking is abundant. Docents are knowledgable. Fees reasonable and many libraries offer passes. Attended the tour guides Money exhibit and Theatre Kapows dramatic play reading.
Found this little jewel in the American collection. Light filled cafe and interesting gift shop.
Fascinating exhibit "Deep Cuts: Contemporary Paper Cutting'
My husband and I enjoyed our visit to the museum.
Very friendly staff.
Great little Museum. They have a really nice home collection, but the best thing is the monthly exhibitions. This month’s was The Guitar. They had them from the 15th century to
Modern times, very cool. Worth seeing.
I liked the wide array of displays this museum allowed you to experience. Paintings from several different times and different places all over the world. Very cool experience and well worth the price.
Beautiful paintings and furniture. Loved it
Amazing art museum. I can't believe I have lived here my entire life and waited until now to check this place out. Wonderful collection that never seems to end. I will defonitely.be back again.
Remarkably good provincial art gallery. Nice cafe area. Knowledgeable docents. Decent shop. Great art programs for children and adults. We've been supporters for years because of the leadership they show for local arts.
A great small museum with a wide selection of art and some surprising masterpieces on hand. They do a lot of rotating exhibits on different interesting subjects, for example a collection of paintings and old photos of Mt. Washington and the White Mts. wilderness from the 17 and 18 hundreds.
What a gem! My wife decide to do a road from Portland to visit the Currier. It was well worth the trip. The mix of items in the regular collection are great, but we also enjoyed the current special exhibit (due to leave soon). If you're in the area, put the Currier on your places to visit.
Plenty of parking. It's a museum. If you like art but don't have it in you to visit the MFA in Boston, this place will do the trick.
Great art museum in NH. I mostly looked at the visiting exhibits, there was some amazing glasswork and an exhibit on the history of the guitar which was very interesting. Of particular note is the Zimmerman house, which you can tour through the museum (it does cost extra). The House is really an architectural marvel and was, for me, the highlight of the trip.
I had a lovely time, it was a pleasant evening and I enjoyed the gift shop as well!
Great museum. It's a smaller collection than some other museums in the area - what's in it is well done.
The museum is spacious and very clean. There are a lot of art works which I enjoy. I also like that they are military friendly so we did not have to pay for our visit. The customer service is good.
Nice little museum in downtown Manchester. Interesting collection of contemporary artists. Good programs for kids. Sunday brunch on Mother's Day. Frank Lloyd Wright Zimmerman House is also an interesting place to visit (free for members). You will be pleasantly surprised.
Nice displays and they change it up periodically. Some of the staff are a little miltant: while reading a painting description I had my hand on the display counter (not the painting, which would course would be wrong!) and was told not to touch the counter. 😐 …
What a beautiful place I have been there twice and had an excellent time every time !!
Would definitely recommend checking it out...
An anonymous donor has generously loaned the museum a beautiful Van Gogh painting! Getting to see it was an extra-special bonus on top of all the other wonderful artworks the museum has on display. Definitely worth the trip!
A small but enjoyable art museum focusing mostly on American and Western paintings. They have a mixture from medieval to modern and some great displays.
I enjoyed my visit very much. I grew up in New Hampshire and only got around to seeing this museum after I moved out of state. A great way to spend an afternoon.
Very enjoyable afternoon. I might have even learned a few things!
Currier Museum always has new and exciting exhibits. Being able to see a Picasso in the matter of a couple of minutes is amazing! Plus being a student and getting in free is awesome.
Have been here a couple times, always great!
Tickets are about what you pay at the ISGM in Boston. Parking is free and was very easy to access.
The site is well kept and clean. I found the map to be slightly confusing though, so it was difficult to understand where we were. Aside from that, it's a nice little gem in the city of Manchester.
We enjoyed the special ex and I was delighted to see a JSS painting.
A superb small museum but an absolute must if you are in Manchester, NH. Allow 2 hours if on your first visit but a bit more if enjoying the excellent food in the cafe. It normally have 2 visiting exhibitions but their own exhibits are superb.
Currier is a wonderful museum. Until June 5, 2019 the Ubuhle Women's bead embroidery is on exhibit. Their work is stunning! Their story is amazing. There is a cost to visit the museum but the exhibit is free.
Although some exhibits are still closed, the staff was wonderful, the exhibits were great, and the food was delicious. A very enjoyable trip
Not hate. I love this place. Next time I review, I will start with the stars on the right, not the left. This museum is everything I want in a local museum. The collections are good, the changing exhibits are varied and interesting.
This is a great "little" museum with plenty to see for a half-day or more. The selection of European and American art includes many fine examples of the best work of big name artists, and there are many gems from lesser known local or regional artists. The displays of American folk art, furniture, and other artifacts from the 17th through early 20th centuries is fascinating and revealing of different aspects of New England's history and culture. The rotating glass exhibition, which mostly displays work from the museum's rich collection of paperweights and other glass objects, is always delightful. The special exhibitions are thoughtfully assembled and provide an enriching experience--no matter what the topic. The cafe makes it easy to stay and linger over lunch or coffee or tea. And -- the Frank Lloyd Wright Zimmerman House, the only Wright-designed house in New England open to the public--is a must-see for architecture fans (transportation is by van from the museum). There's a sweet little gift shop in the museum, also, and there's always activities available in the galleries for children. .
Master Furniture visit.
Space too small for event. Difficult to explore pieces c masters and discuss their furniture.
Pieces for silent auction randomly exhibited instead of being a select part of the affair.
This was our first visit to this event and we were disappointed; Except, for the furniture exhibited that we were able to explore/ discuss.
Thanks for asking.
Lovely small town museum filled with all types of art! Loved spending the day here. The cafe inside was a huge plus, my food was very good.
Lovely museum with an impressive collection. The cachet of two Frank Lloyd Wright houses in the city makes the Currier a fantastic destination.
Great place to spend the day. Small children's Area, my 13,10 and 4yr olds enjoyed it enough to visit it twice during our visit. Cool gift shop with some really unique items.
Great place. We were there for the kids New Year's Eve party. Was lots of fun. We look forward to going back to see the art. Maybe without the 5 year old. Here he is imitating the grumpy painting.
Nice little museum with decent mixed collection.
Such a gem in Manchester. The exhibits are beautiful and I like the explanations and descriptions of individual pieces of art. And the cafe is amazing.
A great place to go with your spouse, other people or your young adult children. The perfect size to spend the afternoon viewing the exhibits. Staff is friendly and knowlegable.
Great artwork by well known artists and shows in rotation like the latest series showing children's book illustrators. We find something new to see every time we visit.
Great exhibits, friendly and knowledge staff.
I have enjoyed bringing the kids on the second Saturday, when NH residents get in free. It's large enough to have an amazing variety but small enough to where it's very comfortable.
Small Museum in Manchester New Hampshire with a nice collection of art it's been several centuries into the modern era . Went to see the Zimmerman house by Frank Lloyd Wright was worth the tour definitely go if you have the time
Cute downtown area to walk around and check out the Currier Museum of Art. The museum has some beautiful paintings, glass, pottery and American antique furniture. Great 2 hour tour for $20.
This is a gem of a museum that you should find the time to visit. Also has a very nice cafe which, on the day we visited, featured live background music (guitar/vocal). Definitely recommended.
The Currier Museum of Art can be a two-fer... It offers a great 2 hour opportunity to see a well curated local museum (modern section is very nice) plus you can also add in an additional secret side trip....So here's the secret, if you get to The Currier Museum of Art make sure you also schedule a trip to the Zimmerman house. The Zimmerman house is a Frank Lloyd Wright original, built in the early 50s for two doctors. It was built just outside of the downtown area in Manchester, and The Currier Museum provides a shuttle bus to the location. You can take pictures outside although you can't inside, but it's a wonderful well-maintained time-warp trip back into an era when low-slung, mid-century homes were all the rage and Frank Lloyd Wright reigned supreme. All in, I'd rate the experience a straight A!
Very nice people who work there, fantastic exhibits, can't wait to go back. My husband and I went to the special exhibits and didn't quite make it through the regular exhibits. Next time!
NH residents get in free on Saturday mornings. Even without the price break it's still a good little museum to spend a few hours perusing. Made the rounds with a Kindergartner and his attention was held for about 2 hours.
This is a small but well-curated museum. It is in a gorgeous building and they have a nice variety of exhibits. You can definitely spend 2-3 hours here.
Worth going again and again:. Augustus Saint-Gaudens
For a place that has a lot of really cool old art and would assumed to be "stuffy", they offers some quite contemporary exhibits. The Changing Landscape Video Exhibit was amazing, with the Rock & Roll and Shoe Exhibits were quite edgy.
I love this museum. Came up from Boston for a special event and found a gem. Intimate enough to feel close to the artwork, yet grand enough to give respect to the artwork. Well worth the drive.
The "As Precious as Gold" rug exhibit is quite interesting with a wide span of styles and time frames. Cool stuff!
The upstairs was closed when we visited but otherwise it was very good.A nice selection of at work and sculptures.
Great collection and great facility. I visited the place looking for something to kill time with. Oh I enjoyed the experience. They even had live music on that day. It is a place to visit if you like art
A Picasso, Monet, some Hoppers and best of all the museum owns the local Frank Lloyd Wright Zimmerman house which they run tours to with a short bus ride from the Currier. If you're going to see the FLW make sure you build in time to see the museum too as it's all part of the FLW ticket price.
A real gem in the city! I'm not much of an art museum goer but what started out as a dreaded visit turned into a great way to spend the day.
I'm looking forward to going again!
The Currier is a wonderful museum. I attended a private function there this evening. It is kept immaculate. There are many exhibits and displays to see. A 'must go to' place!
Very pretty museum with some key pieces.
Lovely little cafe which my uncle spotted was the original entrance to museum.
nice range of work, and interesting gift shop as well, recommend visiting. It’s free Thursday evenings so there’s no excuse not to visit
Lovely small art museum
A wonderful museum! It's bigger than it looks- plan on a half day at least.
Good collections, not everything I wanted to was on display
Got to see stuff I would never have known existed in New Hampshire they have some very cool history and a lot of friendly people highly recommend after 10 years of working for the school system more schools make it mandatory their students go although it might offend some of our PC crowd they have Renaissance paintings and I know they get offended over the littlest thing kind of funny we're the laughing stock of Europe it's art not a real person grow up
A fine museum and venue. Nice cafeteria, a bit pricey. Great shows.in historic downtown Manchester, NH near major arteries. Good parking.
Great local museum. My husband and I love to go to their after hours exhibits for unique date nights! Great food in the café too!
Some cool art. Some old art. The modern stuff was cool and the guitar exhibit was real unique. I especially loved the air guitar on display since I've only seen one of those in pictures before.
For a small museum, it offered more than I expected, beautiful glass paperweight collection as well as period furniture, plenty of parking, cafe closes at 3
Best small fine art museum in New Hampshire. The collection is fascinating and the curated special exhibits are always fascinating and informative as well as beautiful.
Wish we had more time to explore when we stopped into the museum. The artwork was beautiful and we enjoyed seeing the works of so many local artists.
Great gem in central Manchester. They have a wide collection of art as well as great informational staff. Definitely do not forget to tour the Zimmerman House!
Small, manageable museum that has some very interesting and beautiful pieces. Visit the Zimmerman house as well...well worth the admission price.
Elegant museum with well curated exhibits. Gift Shop has many creative items. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
So friendly. Great presentations. Wright houses tours exceptional.
Very calm peaceful and relaxing. Took our time looking at all of the beautiful art and learned so much also. Great environment. I will definitely be going back.
Great selection of art.
The current exhibit of beaded art by the South African woman is amazing
I was blown away by their collection. Truly impressed by the gems they had.
Loved this place since I was a kid.
Hidden gem in Manchester. They host special exhibits throughout the year and have plenty to see any time. They also have tours of a Frank Lloyd Wright house.
Great local museum. We went to see the Art of the Guitar exhibit which will be there for a while longer. Check their website for times.
It's small enough to enjoy many of the main exhibits, but they are always changing for a new experience!
Excellent museum with beautiful collection. Be sure to take a break at their coffee shop. They also participate is BOA's Museums on Us!
Too expensive for top floor being closed. Did enjoy tours of Frank lloyd Wright houses.
Excellent exhibits and programming.
Great place to visit.
Small art museum but had memorable pieces in it. I wished it had been bigger
This is a small gem of a museum. The collection is varied and wonderfully presented. The Currier also features travelling exhibits of national caliber. The cafe tops it all off.
The new Usonian Frank Lloyd Wright home, the Kalil house, is amazing! So rare to be able to see two Usonians in the same day!
Lovely museum, solid collection, good docents, and their guitar exhibit is accessible to people who know nothing about guitars. Well done
Always an interesting exhibit or two! If you're not from the Manchester NH area, you should plan a day trip here, and plan it around the museum!
Wonderful art museum with displays from all over the world
Had a great visit! Very helpful staff! Learned the hard way to make reservation for jazz brunch. Special exhibit latrec was great. Thanks
A small museum with a great variety of quality pieces. Specifically, went to visit an exhibit that has since closed. Always check for upcoming events and exhibits and go!
Amazing place didn't know they have a picasso but one thing I found odd was that someone said they do not allow backpacks mind you I had a camera pack on me and was told this....needless to say my mother and I were two of maybe 5 people in the place at the time?
I had an amazing experience. I went with the expectations of completing an assignment and ended up having an amazing time. The environment mixed with the lively people made it an awsome experience.
The Currier has managed to display really exciting mixture of historical art and contemporary art. Three NH living book illustrators are shown in their wonderful talents:. Beyond Words. See previews at currier.org
Great art collection.
We went to the museum and came back the following Sunday for the Music At The Museum brunch to celebrate our anniversary. It was lovely !
Love this place! They always have new exhibits and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Great place to bring a sketchbook.
Nice collection of art so close to home
What a wonderful show about Augustus Saint Gaudins.
We went to the Music and Mimosa Brunch todsy. Great food and music. We then followed it by viewing the exhibits.
Attended a wedding here. Wish I had more time to see all the exhibits. Definetely worth a visit.
Amazing collection, super event that was well attended. Great staff & easy location / parking.
Can't wait to go back!
Beautiful art. Rotating exhibits. Free admission times regularly including weekend mornings. Easy on site parking.
Decent small art museum, usually has some type of timed exhibit to keep things fresh, offers tours of a local Frank Lloyd Wright home
Great local museum, there are always great exhibits, and they let in NH residents for free on Saturdays
The Currier Museum of Art is great place to visit with your friends or family's who love the Art from American painting, European paintings, Modern Art and Contemporary Arts! I really love this museum!
Great place to spend time with others. The atmosphere is quiet, but silence isn't necessary. They had really neat kirigami displays.
Nice museum, can cover the entirety in about 2 hours. Great staff and nice cafe.
This small museum is full of treasures and great special exhibits. We enjoy the cafe too.
Very cool museum! Nice selection and range of pieces, plus the food is good too!
Great museum, very active in the community and great marketing. Inside you will see great and intriguing art
Great museum. Better than expected. Very clean and many good things there!
Beautiful small art museum in Manchester NH, also owns a beautifully preserved Frank Lloyd Wright designed house.
Great exhibits! Wonderful experience and sound protocols for viewing while respecting pandemic rules
Nice, small art museum. After-hours on the forest Thursday of the month makes it convenient to check out.
Sit back, soak it in. Great experience for adults and for young children
Very impressive for a small museum covering 1000 years of mostly western art.
We completely ignore this surprising museum. Hopper, Picasso, Rembrandt...wow. Small but amazing! Go there!
World class, beautifully currated collections, and super accessible: the Currier, and the exhibits and performances it hosts, are a New Hampshire treasure.
Amazing art museum in a good area
Very interesting museum, recommended both for young scholars and everyone that it interested in art! They switch their exhibits very often!
Friendly staff and great collections. Balanced background and insights about the pieces make the visit even more enjoyable.
had an event here and they closed the bar and never made a 'last call'. The food was OK at best. I would not suggest hosting a party here.
Lots of beautiful pieces
A gem of an art museum. Puts on incredible special exhibits and has a good permanent collection. Currier after hours is fun as well!
The exhibit we saw, "Deep Cuts", was fascinating. Some of the pieces were so intricate and detailed. Others were fun.
As always, a delightful, uncrowded, outstanding visit to a first-rate art museum. Challenging, eclectic, and manageable.
A jewel of a museum, very 'big city' quality artwork in an easily accessible location. The staff has done an amazing job!
Second Saturday of the month is free for NH residents before noon! A beautiful facility and the cafe food is great!
A small but pretty nice museum. Been there a few times an always pleased.
It is very inspirational, and it's perfect for art lovers, if you rate badly, it's probably because you don't like art, and if you don't like art, why would you even go to this place and rate it 1 or 2 stars???
Great experience, use to bring students here on the free Saturday mornings and they loved it. Connected to the community.
Very nice small museum. Spend as much time as you want and enjoy!
I brought my 9 year old son for family night and he really enjoyed it. He even asked when we can go back!
Excellent regional museum - don't miss the docent tour at 1 pm.
I loved the time the staff takes to teach the kids a new craft in the classroom & its free on the second sat of the month!
I'm not a fan of art, but I enjoyed my visit. I was amazed that I actually appreciated the exhibit.
Love this museum. Not too big, easy parking and wonderful cafe.
Very nice small art museum. Must addition is a tour of the Zimmerman House which the museum owns.
Went there to meet friends for the brunch with live music. Walked around the museum after. Good time.
gorgeous museum! Not every museum is for small children but this is great for 5 and up.
Outstanding current show of prayer rugs and other Middle Eastern rugs.
The best!
