Reviews of Newfields

What an awesome museum! I was visiting out of town from Raleigh North Carolina and was super impressed! We saw the MONET show and stopped in to the clothing showcase also. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The show was spectacular and shouldn't be missed even if you aren't into art it was such a wonderful presentation and to feel like you were in the picture was unbelievable! There were children chasing butterflies on the floor and wandering streets. I can't say enough good things about the show and all the many shows on the other floors AND then there are the grounds! Wow! So much to do and see and a paragraph doesn't begin to describe it! I will be back!

This was a fun art museum to visit. The different works were displayed well & had pieces on display that attracted all ages. I appreciated that they even had family activities for younger visitors to do. We will have to come back to view the outdoor garden when the weather is nicer. I would reccomend purchasing tickets online in advanced for the special traveling exhibits. Sometimes the showings of the special exhibits are full if you try to visit the same day.

Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The exhibits are exquisite. A fun educational experience my family loved from mom in law to 10 year old child. I very much recommend a visit.

Winter Lights at Newfields is such a great time! Fun filled time for the family. My Mom and Step Dad were here visiting for Christmas and we took them to see the lights and they loved it. I'm a member of Newfields and love everything they offer. Tonight was the best weather to go, it was 60°. I give the people who put up the lights Mad Props for doing that! If you have not been you need to get there and see the lights!

I was able to wander around the second level. The museum is open a bit later than others in the area. I enjoyed the furniture and home goods immensely. I was surprised to not see any Homer Laughlin, but there were a lot of other amazing pieces, and I was happy for the time to explore!
We are very thankful for the neighborhood membership...we are able to visit free of charge!
Bobbi Craig
Was only able to stop in for a short visit. We had a wonderful time experiencing LUME. The little bar inside was adorable and inspiring (I want my home bar to look this good!) We really enjoyed playing with the interactive pieces - pics on the bridge, impressionist filters and our faces joining the gallery. Such a fun idea!

We’ve been to Newfields many times and this was the time we got to see the Monet Exhibit! I want to see it again! It was magical! Beautiful! This is also a great way to get children to appreciate art. So grateful I got to see this and hoping to go again before it’s gone!!
Jesse Jones
Went for the Gough exhibit and was not disappointed. I know this exhibit is about to (or already has) leave but I'm glad my girlfriend and I got to experience this. I definitely recommend this exhibit to anyone curious. But Newfields also has some really awesome other exhibits too! It's a pretty great art gallery.
Ray Lemar
This place is so much more than a art museum. Lots to see and do year round. I definitely recommend becoming a member and making it a point to visit this museum on a regular basis. It is very difficult to take it all in on just one day. I enjoyed the entire museum and park. Indianapolis should be very proud.
DeAnn Marston
We came for the lights and they did not disappoint. It was lovely, like walking through a magical land. I thought it was pricey until we got there and I saw how they transformed the place. I loved it. Dress warm and plan to stop to warm up near the nice fires they have just for that!
Kelly Koehler
Newfields is a great museum to visit to see beautiful art displays and explore the unique grounds. Plan to spend a few hours there if visiting the art galleries and outdoor paths. We went during the Monet Exhibit which was immersive and worth every minute! There is even a bar/cafe halfway through the exhibit as well as in other locations on the property.
Saranya Ravva
I really enjoyed The LUME especially , there’s a 45 minute theme show that features every hour and the interactive activities around are pretty good too! The entire main art Museum has a great collection and is one of the biggest museums around!
Dan Shoemaker
Amazing place... combination traditional culture center and leading edge multi media emporium. The Monet exhibit was as good as anything I've seen in NYC and Newfields had a beer garden... what's not to like??!!
Sanjukta mandal
For a Van Gogh enthusiast this is a place you must go. They have done an amazing job by bringing his paintings to life. The paintings are in one hour loop and there will some fillers by other current artists too. Definitely worth a visit. Loved the experience.
Melanie Taylor
The museum is beautiful, stopped in to see The Lume, and it was breathtaking. We spent 2 plus hours here. We want to visit again to see the gardens. Would recommend visiting. The Clowes pavilion exhibit was insanely relaxing.
Brandon Castro
Newfields is a beautifully done art museum, it never gets boring as they always have new exhibitions and activities. As someone that loves art, fashion, and art this is a peaceful place to get inspired or have a good time with family and friends. I will share some pictures I took in 2022 and look forward to taking more this year. Lastly, the staff members are friendly and always willing to help.
Tyan Traster
Fantastic experience all in all, the gardens are beautiful and the museum itself is stunning. Do yourself a favor and get a yearly membership and spend as much time enjoying the artwork, ambiance, and scenery as possible.
Beth Copeland
Love this museum. It has nice exhibits and brings interesting exhibits to town. I just visited the Lume Van Gogh exhibit and it was amazing. The facility is a bit unwieldy to navigate but their are lots of volunteers and employees throughout the building who are extremely happy to help you find where you are going. My only complaint is the parking if you park in lot A, there are no sidewalks to the building. People and cars share the road, and it can be a bit precarious for pedestrians and drivers alike.
Allison VonIns
I have only great things to say about Newfields! It has tons of beautiful artwork outdoors and the mansion/estate is gorgeous for photos. I am an engagement photographer based in Indianapolis and I LOVE shooting here because no matter the season, it is always perfect!
MC
AMAZING VAN GOGH experience. Like nothing I've seen. You are part of a live art show. The entire room comes to life. Incredible!!!! Thank you for having this .... just WOW!!!!
Not posting the pictures (just 1) of this show and 1 of the room out of consideration 😁😁😁😁
Betty McKenzie
My favorite art museum. Beautiful exhibits. We've been to 2 immersion experiences (VanGogh and Monet) and loved them both. So much cultural beauty.
Michelle Louer
What a treasure Newfields is! Their curated exhibits feature stunning original works (like those from the current glass exhibit). There is an intentional effort to create meaningful engagement with the art, artists, and themes through compelling questions and interactive response. I appreciate the intentional efforts to expand the traditional collections through juxtaposition with new/emerging artists and cultures.
Viviana Shanks
Beautiful light exhibition to kick off the holiday season. The park is lovely and so nicely decorated. Kids and adults alike will love to. Their apple cider is amazing!
Nicki Muhawi
It’s one of the best museums in the country for a reason! Love the building and the diversity of art inside. The grounds are beautiful to walk around as well.
Erik Mylenek
Finely curated museum. Beautiful grounds were icing on the cake. I wish the top floor had more art and not just "projection van Gogh", but I know a lot of people are into that, just not my cup of tea. I'd rather see more art.
Katherine White
Beautiful experience at Newfields today. Went specifically for the Lume exhibit. It was pretty incredible.
The young man selling snacks at the installation's cafe (on the 4th floor) wasn't very knowledgeable, however. A friend was asking about exposure of snacks to nuts, and he just didn't seem to *get* what she was asking. I asked about a canned lemon tonic to figure out whether it had alcohol or not. He said no, so I purchased two, one for my husband and one for myself. Started drinking it, and I stopped to read the label...4% alcohol.
There was one hallway area near the cafe that was somewhat disorienting, with moving film going in opposite directions during some parts.
The interactive parts were cool! It was busy, so the kids couldn't really play too much with the Van Gogh Yourself, but they loved the Antipasto piece.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience. So glad we were able to attend.
Cheryl Forsythe
The immersive Van Gogh exhibit was breathtaking and awe-inspiring, and the rest of the exhibits were likewise stunning and educational. There's something for everyone.
Parking is free and plentiful, and the grounds are beautiful.
Htayni Sui
I loved coming here when I was a student at Butler University. They have free membership available for IUPUI, UIndy, Marian, and Butler students. I enjoy going there based of the different seasons because they have the most beautiful flowers. It is a breath of fresh air because they keep changing their arts.
Natalie Franks
Winterlights was a fantastic experience! A walk-through beautiful Christmas decorations. The Lily house was decorated amazingly. The gardens had a musical light display with over 350,000 lights! There was a lot of stroller parking, there was hot cocoa, popcorn, cookies and holiday goodies for purchase along the way.
Kendra Travez
The Van Gogh exhibit is an immersive, multi-sensory, out of this world, exciting, first ever, digital display of amazing paintings. It felt like spending the day walking through artwork. Awesome for kids and adults to explore art in a creative, fun, new way! I highly recommend a trip to Newfields!
SC
Beautiful and specious gallery with outstanding customer service. Special shut out to a gentleman at the ticket master for pointing the direction based on the called out interest.
Some exhibitions are well designed and thought through. The meditation or chill out room on the second floor with the screen on the ceiling and running fountain is to die for.
Would love to see more of a modern American and world art, if possible.
Helen Wheels
Fantastic LUME exhibit for this VanGogh nut! I loved it. Walk through and sit in a farther room for unobstructed viewing.
Metal detector and handbag search slow the entry, so plan for that. We grabbed a snack on the way out. Super friendly staff, nice cafe onsite.
We will definitely be back to check out the other beautiful exhibits that we missed seeing and also the grounds!
Top notch!
Charles Vega
Newfields is one of the best things to do in Indianapolis. They have beautiful exhibits on art from all over the world. The space is very modern but the art is not which I enjoy. They have a nice cafe as well as beautiful gardens to walk around. They also have a section called LUME which normally features projections of Van Gough but they have a special Monet and friends exhibit which is worth it for anyone wanting to go. Their memberships are affordable, especially for students and families.
Casey Lupkin
I have been to the Lume to see the Van Gogh exhibit twice now. it is really worth the drive from Fort Wayne and the cost . I will do it again too . like it's nothing ! It's THAT great to me. The staff are also very kind and helpful.
Michael Johnson
The Lume at Newfields was a great, immersive experience, plus our ticket included the other areas of the museum.
P.S. Don't forget to check out the photo op at the end to get your photo superimposed on one of the van Gogh backgrounds.
William West Hopper (DC Car Guy)
Gardens are amazing. Then you realize it has an outstanding collection of art. Not just sculpture or paintings, digital creations, fiber art and more.
April Sexton
Such a great atmosphere. We've been so far for Halloween and Christmas and have enjoyed each time. We should just get a membership because we will be back for other events as well.
Dawn Kurchak
The Van Gogh experience was amazing! I love crazy furniture and was excited to see a whole exhibit of different designs! My kids really enjoyed the interactive sections. I learned new things about Van Gogh at the Lume. It was fun to see the Love sculpture.
Nicholas Klein
There is clearly a LOT you can do here and we only had about an hour of time, but I could see spending a whole day here and still not exploring everywhere. We came during the fall to see all of the pumpkins and gourds outside. The Gardens, Lilly House, and Greenhouse are absolutely stunning and I would love to come back to explore more.
Andrew Jones
This is an amazing art gallery! Beautiful art with chairs to sit throughout. Lots of inspiring work on display. My one complaint would be the music. It's certainly a different experience than most art museums, but that just requires a slight adjustment of expectations.
Betty Mansfield
I feel happy everytime I go to this beautiful art museum and gardens. I walk in and feel the weight of life lifted. Such serene environment, especially when students are playing the grand piano and the music wafts throughout! And, of course I learn something new everytime!
Cory Bemis
This is a fantastic place to visit. The gardens are amazing as is the collection of orchids they have! Touring the estate is delightful and the museum has a great collection as well.
Zach McCombs
Amazing van Gogh experience!! If you love art, if you "get" van Gogh, if you're even slightly cultured, if you're simply human... you'll enjoy this place. Great for our three kids. We've spent hours here each time we visit from Evansville, IN.
PG Madden
Newfields Indianapolis Museum of Art is wonderful museum with gardens. The Lume immersion exhibition of Monet & Friends is a must even though it isn't included in general admission. Two restaurants on site, one on 1st floor and the other in the Lume exhibition area. Interactive sections for children and those young included in several of the exhibit areas. Gardens were a little disappointing but only because most of the flowers were off the bloom. Also an event location so sure they stay booked in the spring and summer.
Brandon Holle
Beautiful place. Lots of great art. The Lume displays have been awesome. Saw Van Gogh and Monet exhibits.
Wee Lass
Viewed Winter Lights. It was incredible. The Lily house was filled with trees, candles, cakes, woodland animals. A light show set to the nutcracker on the lawn in front. Multiple areas with themes and lights. A must see.
Deb O
We had a lovely experience at Newfields! Our first stop was the Lume Van Gogh exhibit. It was very well done. People of all ages seemed to enjoy the exhibit. I loved seeing the little kids running around and interacting as the screens changed. We worked our way down the 4 levels. I liked the glass and Asian art. Got some great gifts in the gift shop. The surprise for me was how much there was going on outside. Don't miss all the orchids in the greenhouse and grab a beer or tea. The trails were fun to explore . . . But we ran out of time. We will definitely be coming back to do the house and other trails. I've heard the Christmas lights are great!
Tanisha Kline
We went during Winterlights and had a magical experience ✨ Fabulous holiday ambience created with the lights and music! We had hot cocoa and warm cookies 🍪 A great outing for families with kids or even girls night out.
T L
Beautiful museum and grounds with many different types of art throughout. The Clowes Pavilion is my favorite spot. It is an amazing spot to relax and be surrounded by the ambiance.
Jon Key
This place was amazing. My wife and I celebrated our 15th Wedding Anniversary by visiting the Lume for Vincent Van Gogh's illuminated, interactive, and awe inspiring exhibit. I was looking forward to seeing it, but it had a much bigger impact on me than I had at first expected. The size of the screens, coupled with the art being projected everywhere (even onto you!), the way that it moves, and the sounds/music that plays really made this a multi-sensory experience.
Debi Pierson
Went for the Lume exhibit but LOVED the whole museum experience! It was the perfect way to spend a cold Saturday!
David Bursten
Great family time seeing Winter Lights. For those over age 21 wine and bourbon spiced cider are available. Took my brother and his family there over the Thanksgiving Holiday and visited again with friends after the New Year. If you've not been before, add this to your 2023 Holiday plans.
Holly Sonday
Monet and Friends was fantastic! So beautiful, colorful, peaceful and informative. The rest of the museum was great also, we didn't go through the 100 acre gardens because it was too hot for us.
Nika Lucks
Did not expect this to be sooo amazing!!! The Garden, the Fashion exhibit and we got to go into the Lilly House!!!! It was a great experience and I'll definitely be back!
Jessica Jenkins
My family went for the LUME exhibit and were blown away. Learned so much about Van Gogh's life and art. The employees were all helpful, especially the lady who scanned our tickets.
Catherina Vasquez
I love museums and this one was particularly amazing.. great exhibits and gift shop amazing.. couldn't visit the outside but I'll definitely be back for that!
Mariam Othman
Visits to this art gallery were enjoyable. The various artworks were attractively exhibited, with pieces that appealed to viewers of all ages. I liked how they also featured kid-friendly family activities for tourists. We'll have to return when the weather is nicer to see the outdoor garden. I advise getting tickets for the unique traveling exhibits in advance online. If you try to visit on the same day, the special exhibit showings may occasionally be packed.
J R
The Lume was well worth the price and there rotating exhibits are great in my experience. Overall collection is not as good as I've seen in other cities, but it is definitely worth the visit.
christine b
This is my favorite Indy museum. Winter Lights is a beautiful tradition. The Monat and Friends exhibit just as wonderful as the Van Gogh one was.
Rick Raxton
Great museum. Very well presented. However lots of walking, if someone in your group has a hard time walking plan ahead and get wheelchair or something.
mikaileykat
I came here as a child and absolutely adored the gardens and all of the art. As an adult I got to bring my daughter for the first time and our experience was nothing shy of amazing! They were featuring the Van Gogh exhibit up at The Lume and this was the primary reason we went on this occasion. She absolutely loved it and already wants to go back to see more of the amazing art on all four floors!
Rafael Polidoro (polidorobio)
It was great this year. The changes looked nice. Hanukkah even got us free hot chocolate and snacks!
Manli Davis
Monet immersion experience was very impressive. It’s a great format for kids to enjoy classic arts.
Courtney M
Our favorite things to see are the immersive exhibits in the Lume. The Van Gogh was awesome, and so was Monet! We checked out the WinterLights for the first time this year. It's very pretty and a neat experience. The museum has a lot of interesting exhibits, including the big iconic Love statue by Robert Indiana. It's fairly accessible, but there is a lot of walking if you are using a mobility walker, especially to the elevator to the 4th floor.
The museum has a lot of open areas and natural light.
Caitlin Crisp
Attended the opening exhibit of The Lume and it was phenomenal! A must for anyone! Beautifully done. I had never really explored the grounds before, but there is much to see. Seemed to be a popular place to run.
T'Jay Jefferson
Took my grandson to the Van Gogh experience for his birthday. It was very, very nice. Better than I expected. If you stop by the Grab & Gogh or the gift shop please know that it is card only. Oh and the design gallery on the third floor was very inspiring. Great taste is timeless.
Jason Winstel
Very nice museum to visit! The staff are very friendly and professional! Very clean inside and the outside grounds as well. We saw The Luv Van Gogh exhibit it was Amazing! Highly recommended and one of the best attractions we have ever experienced!
Dena McCune
We were there today with 3 kids age 15, 4 and 2. They all enjoyed the Van Gogh Experience. We walked the grounds and visited the Lilly house. Wish we could have stayed longer.
I must compliment the employees. Some of the friendliest people.
Joni Heredia
We came especially to see the exhibit for We. The culture. It's amazing and everyone in Indy should definitely stop by and see it!
Andrew Downs
We went for the Van Gogh Lume exhibit and it was amazing! The rest of the museum is still great and we will be back!
Ken Hayes
Wonderful experience! Beautiful grounds and so serene to just wander and view art. Just wish it didn't cost so much :(
Jeremie Aubert
Great museum and grounds. Spent six hours exploring everything and could have stayed longer.
Ratthee RPSS
Great collection and don't forget to visit Lily Mansion! (What a pity they don't decorate anything on the second floor)
Brooke Lewis
Really fun art museum. There’s lots to look at, very interesting pieces, cool exhibits, and has a nice modern structure. I did find that navigating the museum was a little tricky.. I kept going in circles, and there are very few maps. I realize this is an art museum and not a kids museum, however it would be nice to have more of an option for the kids to get their hands on than just a piece of paper and pencil. It’s an art museum, so I fully understand that it’s not geared towards kids, but if you’re going to have a kids option, could you make it a little more entertaining?
Anyway, really cool museum. I tell all my friends to go here. The grounds are fabulous, and absolutely beautiful. Definitely take a walk around. The Christmas lights here are well worth the visit as well.
Jeff Griner
Harvest Night at New fields - family had a nice time at the harvest nights display at New fields. It is a nice blend of lights, mist and auditory affects. We went on a Tuesday night and it was still busy but not too busy or scary. We just had to go at a slow pace. Once you get to the mansion head toward the middle for a better show. There are 3 big trees we you first walk up that will obstruct your view.
Cassidy Jones
Wow- I came to see Van Gogh at the Lume and was so shocked at how amazing the whole museum is! I drove from Illinois because I REALLY wanted to catch the Van Gogh exhibit before it was gone, but I am already planning a return trip to have more time in the rest of the museum! I would highly recommend this place for a day of art! I can't wait to go through the gardens on my next trip!
Maggi Simpson
Wow! We spent a beautiful fall day exploring the gardens, then visited the stunning immersive Van Gogh exhibition in the evening. Fantastic day!
Philip Greenspun
We couldn’t get the 6- and 8-year-olds out of the Lume Monet experience. “This is the best place on Earth”, they said at the 2-hour mark. You could definitely spend the whole day here.
Jolie Li
Beautiful Van Gogh experience! We also stopped by the free exhibit of Africa too. We should have prepared that we would want to be there more than 2 hours though. If we knew they close at 8, we would have bought Van Gogh Tix at 5 instead of 6pm . Overall we loved it
Debbie Givens
Beautiful place, inside and out! The immersive digital experiences are not to be missed! Five plus stars from me!
Cecilia Hicks
Great place to spend an afternoon! Personally, I enjoy the 100 acre woods and Gardens more than the actual Art Museum, but that's just my opinion. The vast array of plants and flowers make the trip exciting and beautiful. Anytime you're near the lake, be sure to look for turtles. We counted 11 on our last trip. It's such a simple pleasure in life to be able to just enjoy nature and all it has to offer.
Dave Harlan
This is a fabulous museum! I had a great time and thought it was a good collection. The two Edward Hoppers were my favorites, but there were some good modern and impressionist works as well.
The only downsides were:
1. There were an oppressive number of docents. The masks make them seem rather in friendly.
2. Tickets have to be bought online even though there are three employees stationed at the door. It felt weird.
Debbie Paugh
I love the art museum. We spent a couple of hours here seeing all the galleries, and the gardens. The gift shop was very nice.
Rachel Phillips
You have got to check out The Lume and everything else in the museum as well! Amazing experience. I could spend all day here!
Carrie Mann
We visited for the first time recently, mainly to see the Lume exhibit. It was fantastic! It's definitely worth the price of admission. We are not museum members, so admission cost $25 per adult which included the Lume as well as general admission to the museum. Although there were many people arriving at the same time, museum staff were efficient at directing everyone to overflow parking lots. The Lume exhibit is located on the fourth floor. We found adequate signage throughout the building pointing us in the right direction. The Van Gogh experience was incredible. The show runs for approximately 40-45 minutes. There are several areas to view the show, so I do recommend spreading out and not just stopping at the first viewing screen as many people did when they arrived. I was also excited to see an actual Van Gogh painting in the gallery! While you visit, be sure to check out the other galleries. All in all, it was a great way to spend a Saturday!
Daniel Bennett
I'm loving the events this place offers. My partner and i have gone to two so far this fall and I only wish the tickets for the events stated if we could visit the museum while we waited for the event to start.
Eric Marasco
Second time visiting and this time to the Monet exhibit. Fantastic! Such an amazing place to have here in Indy. So many amazing works of art…walk around and enjoy!
Darian J
Absolutely spectacular. Very clean, modern art museum. Love the pieces they curated here. The grounds and gardens are pristine.
Monalisa Tailor
New fields has been on my go to list for quite some time. In 2021, they had the Vincent Van Gogh immersion experience that was in the museum. I really wanted to go but did not get the opportunity. This year, the immersion experience became Monet & Friends. From Louisville, I drove up to Indy to experience this. The Newfields museum is expansive. It’s on the previous property of Eli Lilly’s home and land. There’s a Lichtenstein to welcome you as you come into the museum. The gardens are beautiful and open and encouraging you to spend time in nature. At the museum, you will go through security to enter. You can order your tickets online or at the window. There’s a lovely gift shop and restaurant on the first floor. For the Monet & Friends experience, it was on the top floor of the museum. We explore some of the other floors while we waited for our time. There were incredible glass pieces and Asian pieces at the museum. The Monet experience was well marked by signs to ensure visitors could make it to the top floor. When we did get there, they scanned our tickets and advised we could enter. The area opened into a small room providing an introduction to Monet and how the colors and images were created. When you were ready, the small room opened into a larger room with multiple screens on all the walls with people standing, sitting, admiring the images before them. The Impressionists paintings were being projected onto these screens and at the same time told a story. Some of the images even came to life with the boats rocking in the waves, butterflies flying to the plants, music playing. It was breathtaking to see these classic images come to life. I sat down to admire the images, and just hung out for about an hour. There was an inspired little bar in this area as well which you could find French inspired treats. This was followed by Monet inspired interactive activities. This was such a well done experience and I was so impressed. Thank you Newfields, I plan to be back for these incredible experiences.

A nice little museum with a variety of artwork. And a beautiful museum with good use of green space to bring the art and nature world together
bill duffey
I don't normally hang out in art museums, but the immersive Van Gogh experience sounded nice todo. We made a date night out of it and we were not disappointed.
I found the different medium of moving pictures on the walls & floor an enjoyable way to appreciate some of the finer things in life & easily recommend to you!
Lily Siu
Monet Lume exhibit is well worth added cost of entry
Hairy Heartsmith
The winter lights event was outstanding. I thought it would be pretty but was pleasantly surprised with the beauty that was put on display. However, arrive early due to parking.
Sarah Easter
Very nice art museum. I couldn't feel relaxed as I was run down in one of the rooms so that could be told to wear my purse in front of me with no explanation as to why. There was 0 chance of me knocking something over. I honestly think it was just a power trip on her part. So leave your purse elsewhere and you will have a lovely time.
Mike Campbell
Had a lot to see and didn't get to everything. Unfortunately it was raining and they were a bit short staffed (like everyone) to be able to have some things open. We will definitely try again as they have so much to offer.
Stephen Francia
Top notch world class level art museum! SO much to see, do and interact with! Great people there as well! You'll need all day (at least 3-4 hours) and it is handicap accessible. Go and enjoy!
Travis Mumford
Super cool Vincent Van Gogh exhibit with laser projectors and an interactive gallery. Lots of facts about him in different corners of the gallery. I think there were 2 actual paintings by him in the far gallery. Would have obviously been fun to see more originals, but it was still a very cool experience
Evgeniya Rangaeva
The Van Gogh Lume exhibit is awesome. You are immersed in of Van Gogh’s world, can live inside his colors and imagination, become the part of his creations…
Ed Hesik
The lights were amazing and the experience was magical. A truly great memory for all of us.
Shelly Israel
What a wonderful way to enjoy a day of art. Van Gogh Lume is a fantastic exhibit. Nice cool day to relax and have lunch by the fountain.
Mark Barnes
We had such a great time at newfields for winter lights. We had to change our days because of the storm so we went after Christmas but it was actually not busy at all. They do such a good job out here.
Flighest One
Good variety of exhibits always something dull haven't gosh to The Lume but I've heard it's an awesome experience. The fashion and music exhibit on the second floor is really interesting. The grounds are spectacular as well can't wait to see the winter lights hopefully it's not too cold this yr
Caroline Boattini
Because I have a military ID, my family and I were permitted free entry. I love this museum, and it's remained one of my favorites in the U.S. there are so many activities for kids, which is great while adults are viewing art! I love it here. Such a wonderful place.
Liana Cartasegna
Super fun! You need good walking shoes and plenty time to visit all the exhibits... probably you can complete the tour in three visits. they have a lot of enjoy!
Debra Newman
Newfields art museum is wonderful! The garden's are beautiful & relaxing to walk through. I love the new beer garden. It is one of my favorite places to go. I'm not sure on the cost of the museum if you're not a member. I do believe one day a week is free.
Cindy Canfield
There is so much to experience here! The monet immersion is fantastic.
The fashion exhibit is very educational. I love the chaise lounges with the moving ceiling.
The gardens were in beautiful summer bloom.
Robin Stone
Beautiful!! And Fun! So much to see. Might need a day 2
Paul Seigle
What a wonderful place for adults and children too. Their Christmas programs are second to none and the staff are wonderful, very very helpful.
Salma Bakr
What a wonderful place to easily spend a day! We visited for the museum and the gardens for free, as we had reciprocal access via our local botanical gardens membership. Loved everything about this place, and especially enjoyed the design gallery and Lily House.
Will Jewell
First time going to see Christmas lights at the museum I can't imagine the team that it took to do all this and how long it took excellent work
Kiko
I visited Newfields when they had their Van Gogh exhibit that absolutely blew me away and recently revisited for free admission first Thursday of the month. It took me almost two hours to explore all of the grounds. So beautiful!
Rebecca Dawson
Always beautiful loved the Monet and friends exhibit at Lume
Da-Wang Wu
Very beautiful museum, gardens and the mansion! Lilly’s house was beautifully decorated. The green house and the beer garden had many interesting plants and flowers that I have never seen before. The fountain, the little bridges and surrounding walking paths and gardens were all beautiful and well maintained. Highly recommended for people looking for a leafy and relaxing place!

Came for the lights. Wasn’t the most impressive display I’ve seen. But they tried hard.
Renee Weller
Newfields is a top notch museum! We thoroughly enjoyed it!
lily marie
I had such a great time at the Monet exhibit at the Lume! I was very nervous to go because I have some social anxiety but everyone was very helpful and kind which eased my nerves. I also love that they have a piano for people to play:)
George Snyder
It was $18 to get in to the art museum, we had a great day. Lovely gift shop. Delighted to see one of my favorite artist's work, William Adolphe Bouguereau. They feature art throughout the generations displaying a wonderful variety. We finished the day off with some tasty orange soda in the food area.
Erik B
We visited the Monet and friends exhibit and it was amazing being immersed in the art and history of the impressionist movement. The only downside was the very high priced snack bar...$7 for a little bag of popcorn; hopefully the proceeds go to those starving artists we hear about, because last I checked Monet and friends are all deceased. Lesson learned, make sure the family eats before you go.
Joo-Yun Kim
I went there this winter for Monet live experience and to enjoy paintings. Love this museum.
Mike X
You MUST reserve your time online ahead of time. Once you pay, you get a pdf ticket per person that they scan when you enter the museum. Please wear a mask at all times.
Well curated exhibits, especially the African art section. Not a ton of items in comparison to some other art museums in other cities but the pieces they do have are great representations of the art history and style of each timeframe on display.
Allie B
What a wonderful Halloween light tour!!! It was beautiful, spooky, clever, and fed all the senses. We enjoyed a cocktail and snacks along the way. The staff were great! The patrons social distanced appropriately. I only wish it could have been a bit of a bigger display for the price.
David Riggleman
I recent attended the Harvest Nights and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was without question the most illuminated pumpkins I have ever seen in my life at one time and the attention to detail was impressive with each of the pumpkins having a unique face. The Lilly House show with the projections and music was equally fun to watch, although slightly crowded. Overall, I felt pretty safe with the covid precautions in place (masks required even though outdoors), but there were a few spots where the flow could have been improved slightly to minimize congestion. While it is a bit costly per ticket, I will say it was well worth it and it must have took considerable time and effort to make this experience what it was.

Newfields is fantastic. I've been there to see a ballet at the Toby, and more recently for Harvest Nights. It's a well maintained facility, free and easily accessed parking, and fair pricing for a major art gallery. I don't feel like pricing for entry and food is too surprising, and it's comparable to other galleries I've visited. In fact, I felt their membership pricing was better (more affordable) than others. The staff are very helpful and easy to find. Some really wonderful artists come through this museum, so keep your eyes peeled!
Rachel Blade
My family really enjoyed our visit. It is still in the back of our minds the former IMA/ Newfield president's words, however with us being members we went back out. This is our 1st time after that event. And really enjoyed ourselves 4 stars for now, may go backup to 5. Just as wonderful as remembered though. Great for families.👍 Thank you.
Jo Ellen
Nice museum with 4 floors, periodic changes in exhibits, and a wonderful outdoor space with paths/sculptures. You could easily spend a full day here if you are casually seeing eveything. There's a cafe and nice gift shop.
Shel
I really love to see the Halloween & Christmas lights. I'm really excited for the Van Gogh experience next year also. Everything is very clean always. I do wish they would've put more lights out, on every tree this year! Especially since we are in a pandemic & you have to return if you want to go inside the Lily house. I also think the price of $25 per adult to see the lights is expensive for what it is. Yet, I also think it is all beautiful and worth going if you can get a discounted ticket to the lights.
Alena S
We went and saw Winter Lights for the first time. The lights were beautiful and the experience was great! They do a fantastic job with the lights display. It just seems overpriced for our kids that don't slow down. Then, buy drinks to enjoy through it. We skipped the merchandise. It seemed really short for the price. And then with people crowding the space and making you feel like you should rush because you did slow down.
Shawn Hudachko
Absolutely love coming to this place. Peaceful and beautiful. Walk and enjoy nature while enjoyinh a beer or glass of wine. The Lilly house is a wonder to see along with the gardens.
Quintin Whitaker
Gorgeous place and wonderful staff!
John Kurton
Great night out at the Winter lights at Newfields. We went early and was able to enjoy the beautiful lights on a wonderful and warm evening.
The lights are spectacular and with reduced numbers and social distancing we were able to enjoy them without the feeling of being part of a crowd.
Marjorie Fernandez
It was a great experience for me and my niece Andrea who came from Perú to visit wonderful places in Indy 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Megan Anderson
Once I had my baby and he was able to go places, Newfields was and has been the only place we consistently feel safe to explore. It's beautiful and there's room to distance.
Christopher Blount
Amazing place with an awesome interactive Monet exhibit.
Jasper Delphos
"I would not have been President had it not been for my experience in North Dakota" - Theodore Roosevelt
This perfectly describes our experience. Watching, wondering. Always breaking forward to the next adventure. Calmly looking to the future, but onto ourselves, another, eventful day.
Rissa Strong
Pricey but lovely place. Wish I could've stayed longer. Only real criticism I have is the hours...i wanted to bring my nieces however they are only open until 4p ...most kids are in school until 3 so unless it's the weekend or they have a weekday off I can't take them. Outside of that, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and was well worth the price if you are an art lover
Jami Pereira
Lovely museum. Definitely a must see if you are in Indianapolis. It started raining so we missed the gardens but from what we could see they looked beautiful. Staff was friendly. Everything is presented well. I wish there was more Greek just because that's my favorite but otherwise it was great. The shop was a real treat. Can't believe how much they have in there. They are handling Covid well too. Little better direction on where to go since escalators were down would be nice. We figured it out though.
Mary Ash
Saw Winter lights after Christmas. Great experience
Wished the prices were reduced. Candy in gift shop was so that was a good thing
Aatif Ansari
The Christmas lights set up is something everyone said we must see around the holidays. I’m glad we did. Even though it was raining, we got to enjoy the walk and a tour of the home. Worth it. Took us about an hour or so to walk around and take pictures of everything.
gabe martin
Winter Lights are extraordinary. One tree has 50,000 lights and takes 2 weeks to decorate! The synchronized lights and music in the Lully House yard are fun to watch. So much to see and worth the price, BUT buy the 5pm tickets. You will have ample parking and the grounds get dark shortly afterward in December. When we left at 7pm, the line just to get onto the grounds was backed up quite a bit!
Stefan Munker
Interesting museum of European, American, Asian and African art, and examples of design. Beautiful gardens with an impressive mansion.
Jerry Ellis
Beautiful place to visit with awesome artwork pieces, beautiful gardens, and Eli Lilly's house is on the grounds to walk through, so much to see and do, make sure you have a few hours to take it all in!
Dan Bowers
The winter lights was beautiful. The only reason that it didn't get 5 stars from me is the price. The entry fee is a little steep for the amount of time that I got out of it. We strolled through fairly slowly and even stopped a few times to take in the lights. The entire time took us around :35-:45. Additionally, the amount of money they charged for addition items is rediculous. They are charging $9.99 for a light bulb necklace that you can buy at Dollar Tree for $1.
jennifer pennington
I went with my dad and my stepmother they took me the first time I had been to a light display and it was beautiful I definitely recommend going if you like to look at lights there was no wait time to enter I don't know the cost as my stepmom had bought the tickets but it was well worth going
STEPHANIE MEALS
A wonderful spacious venue to see fine art and exhibits and close by. I enjoyed The Lume and I hope they bring the Prince Immersive Experience here. I would love to see the Newfields sign lit up in purple on the corner of 38th and Michigan Road.
Milli Verma
Went during Harvest days. Beautiful decorations and arrangements. They made special effort to follow CDC guidelines for COVID. Worth the price of ticket.
Shaun Hussey
Newfields is a wonderful museum. So many interesting piecesin their permanent collection and great exhibits come here often. Check out their Holiday lights event as well as their immersive art experience.
Lisa Tollefson
Wow! We went for the lights, and I have to say it was well worth the cold. They had the finest light displays I've ever seen. They even had little fireplaces along one of the paths so we could warm our hands. And I loved the tree made of plastic toys.
John Bates
Only went for their light displays. Harvest Nights was better than Christmas lights, imo. A bit pricey but beautiful.
Mike Kuebler
Awesome museum. Great art. Cool place. Great grounds. Was so much better when it was free. Wish they would go back to that or at least lower the prices to make it more affordable. Worth going once/year based on their current pricing model.
BA Walker
Winterlights at Newfields, the Indianapolis Art Museum. Every year special and different.
Larry Harrison
My 11yo granddaughter and I went to see the Newfield Lights. They really went all out to create a great showing. The work put into this was obvious. I think she was most impressed with the Lilly mansion. Not only was it decorated up to the max, I think as she went through the house, I think she was trying to imagine what it would have been like to live there. A great time was had by all.
Grant Helms
There are too many good bits of interest to point out in one small review of Newfields, so just take my word for it this time and go experience the museum firsthand. When you do, you’ll understand why Indy rightfully claims this internationally remarkable cultural institution as its own. From the sculpture collection, painting and furniture design exhibits, the LUME art exhibitions, and the popular Winterlights festivity exhibit, Newfields is a crown jewel of the Circle City with much to explore and love.
Michael Abel
We enjoyed our visit very much. We only had time to see about half the art museum, but we were impressed. The Design section was particularly interesting. We also enjoyed the gardens.
Nancy Naujoks
Great collection, amazing special exhibits. A truly patron friendly art museum with detailed information by the art and lots of benches and chairs so you can sit and take it in. We had the best day ever on our visit. We were blown away by the opening piece in the foyer that is motion activated. Truly amazing.
Patrick Martin
Lights were cool but it’s a little pricey for what it is. If you really like lights then go for it but it’s nothing crazy for the cost of the tickets.
Amber Brocken
The LUME at Newfields was stunning! So well done. The music that played along with the artwork was beautiful and so fitting. It's definitely visually interactive. Easy entrance, no lines or waiting. Space was large enough to stand or sit along the walls. I highly recommend this event
Taylor Zang
We visited Newfields during Harvest Nights. The decoration was perfect. The lines were manageable and COVID safety protocols were in place. It is mesmerizing to see so many lighted pumpkins. Recommend advance booking the tickets as they sell out very quickly.
M Peacock
Go. Just go. Don't think about it. The Lume is so creative. Hard to tell where floor and wall meet. Loved the name of the cafe...Grab and Gogh. Try the Self-portrait cocktail & dessert.
Cindi James
1st time visitor and fell in love. Well worth paying the membership fee if you plan on coming back more than once. I appreciate the free parking. Excellent contemporary and traditional art. Something for everyone.
Lucas Burlingham
Cool museum and exhibits. Got me and my date in for free with an Active Duty military ID. Had a great time.
Philip L.
If you want a unique Halloween experience or want to be dazzled by millions of Christmas lights Newfields is the place. Make sure to dress warm enough as you walk through the magical lands Newfields creates.
Angela Addington
Stunning art museum - well laid out. Spend an entire day here and make sure you check out the gardens, beer garden and lilly house as well.
Ally Bright
We absolutely loved the lights this year! The staff was so incredibly kind!! The whole place was magical and perfect and made our holiday session!! Everyone was in awe of the amount of lights!! There clearly was a lot of work that went into the creation of this event and we are grateful to those who decorated, worked the event, and those who are going to have to take it all down!
L Payne
My daughter and I went to the wee wonders activity and then toured the grounds and museum. I haven't been there in quite some time, we had fun! We loved the recycled art pieces everywhere. I got some great pictures too!
Cari Morales
As much as I love this place, the only reason why I'm giving it 4 stars is because I no longer have access to it as to when I was a teenager in love with the gardens and the museum. We went to Harvest for the first time thanks to community tickets provided by United Way. Newsfields will forever have a special place in my heart but it will take serious commitment from their staff, donors and community to make things right.
Juan Blak
Had an amazing time at the van Gogh emersive. Checked out the rest of the museum. Definitely will return.
Michael Tome
Loved the Van gogh experience and all the different masterpieces through out the museum
Kaylee Explores
I really enjoyed my visit today for the Van Gogh exhibit. I ate at the cafe and had a pleasant experience as well. However, I wanted to mention that it was a bit disappointing that we couldn’t tip the waitstaff with our card. I didn’t have cash and felt terrible that I couldn’t tip my waitress after her efforts. I hope that can change for the sake of your staff. ❤️
James Fridie, II
Great experience here, always a great idea with such thoughtful exhibits. Be sure to browse the gift shop.
Mussie Tekle
It was an incredible momentous experience to share it with the love of my life, Love Love the whole experience!!! We would definitely be coming back again. Love from Canada ❤
Jessica Truman
Van Gogh's works expressed thru digital art did not disappoint. This was an incredible show of talent of art old and new.
Adrienne Ludwig
Well done Lume Van Gough exhibit. Kids (10 & 6 loved it) The rest of building exhibits could not even compare. Disappointed in the Art & Blooms, rather oversold.
Whitney S
This was a fun place. We visited the Lume exhibit. Wish we had more time to explore the museum
Anisha
Great museum, enjoyed the exhibits plus the outdoor space. Liked how the themes are tied together at the end of every section. Plan for more time than you think you need! I couldn't see all I wanted to see with the time I had so will have to come back soon. The gardens are also nice and you can get a drink at the beer garden at the end of your visit.
paul fackler
Beautiful place albeit a very wet day for the outside sculptures.
David Wentland
From the galleries and exhibits to the gardens and walking paths, Newfields had a lot to offer for everyone. I really enjoy their seasonal events and special exhibits.
Jeanette Escue
The VanGogh exhibit was fantastic! Great overall experience.
Frank Hettlinger
Amazing Christmas lights! Highly recommend visiting this before the end of the year.
Bill Kerr
The Monet and Impressionist Painters exhibit and information was interesting and educational. I enjoyed seeing the other pictures and exhibits throughout the rest of the museum as well.
Branka
Both inside and out a wonderful experience with many interactive things to do for children. The African exhibits were incredible as were the design ones. I felt that while almost all parts of the world were represented they appeared to miss Byzantine impacts in art. I wish that there was better signage to direct visitors . But overall a must see.
Satwik Krishnan
Had a great time here. You get to experience the art and get to know the history behind it, which makes it even better. Totally worth it. A little crowded for my taste, but again it was a Saturday afternoon.
Cynthia Warren
Went to Winter Lights and it was fabulous. Very pretty displays, especially the one with music.
Andrea Todd
I really enjoy museums and this was no exception. Beautiful displays. How could I pick a favorite! We also toured the beautiful gardens. I'm seeing quite a few plants here that I don't see in California.
Nova Locs
What's not to love about art?! And you've got to go to see Van Gogh! C'mon 😅 …
Karyn Hood
My daughter and I loved it! We went mother's day weekend and it was pretty busy. We had never been before and we didn't know that you had to have a reserved time to go in so we went in with general admission but didn't get to do the LUME experience but we will definitely go back to do it. The art museum was pretty cool to walk through. You could probably spend a lot more time than we did there. The gardens were beautiful, even though we we there at the end of the season for some of the flowers, there were still a lot. The Lily house was so cool and had a lot of things that I learned while walking through. The grounds of the house were amazing and had such great views. You could spend an entire day here with everything from the museum, garden, Lily house and the nature park. We will definitely be going again and again and again! Thank you so much!
paula rees
Beautiful, and shared the visit with my daughter's family, making it extra special. Will spend more time watching the dancing lights next year.
Mike Collier
Beautiful experience! We're definitely going back to see the things we missed.
Glenn M
The Lume was a great experience. It was nice to see all the exhibits at your own pace. It was great to wander around the gardens at the property. Worth checking out!
Jennifer S
Had a good time at Newfields last week during the free first Thursday. The birds of prey show on the lawn of the Lily House was entertaining, and the inside exhibits were nice, but a lot was closed for renovation (the Clowes Pavillion, the textiles area etc).
Tatyana Fedorikhina
Amazing Lume Van Gogh exhibition! Beautiful landscapes in the gardens themed based on Van Gogh painting.
JustStylin4Life
Amazing. I absolutely loved my visit. My husband surprised me with a date night there and I was like a little school girl. 🤗 …
Dave Albin
LUME video show is a good immersive experience, BUT be aware there is only one minor Van Gogh painting on display as part of this exhibit. They have a Gauguin and a Cezanne along with it but the three pieces together do not make much of an impression.
Kim Lea Mays
What an Amazing exhibit very organized parking was easy on a busy day. The museum was clean well kept. Great time and art.
JS Humfleet
I do like newfields, I feel like they have a pretty good collection. But I have been waiting for Clowes Hall to open for over a year,(I'm not sure what it's been two maybe, three years?) and I'm not sure why it took so long to do what they did. But what really irks me, is that it has become more or less, the European painting section. Which is fine, I'm a painter, I basically go there to look at paintings. I like to see the history. I like to see the progress of painting from the 1300s on up to today. So I'm really disappointed that they decided to make it into a jumbled up mess. I understand the idea of juxtaposing a painting from one time with another, but really, do we need to put clothing from a Buddhist monk, next to Catholic priest outfit? When I go and look at the Nazca pottery, I don't expect to see a Greek bust shoved in there, so why do we have to do it in this section. And why are we taking contemporary pottery pieces, and mixing them in with work from the 1600s? Come on. Do you put an ancient chariot on display, and then put a Lamborghini right next to it? Furthermore, it seems like half of the paintings were missing. And to make room for a light show? I understand that people like the light show, if it gets people in there fine. But on the whole, I was disappointed.
Sonia Simison
Visited the Lume exhibit. It was beautiful and informative. I highly recommend wandering ALL the rooms while Van Gough art is playing. It is best experienced this way rather than standing or sitting in one room.
Joseph Ciesiel
This is a great place. We were I'm Noblesville fir a wedding and we spent the night, so the next day we visited Newfields and we saw the Monet show, just wonderful.
I will say this. I will travel to Indianapolis again just to visit Newfields.... everyone on the Indy area really needs to see this place ....love it
Andrea Skirvin
Absolutely loved the LUME. It was a fantastic experience. I was thrilled to see them support one of our favorite local businesses, Gallery Pastry Bar, in the exhibit bar. (Newfields needs a full time bar!)
Kendra Panchot
We went to the Halloween light show and are going to the Winterlights next week. This was such a wonderful experience and my little kiddos loved it!
Brian Joyce
Fantastic, spacious art museum with special exhibits (for an additional cost). We experienced the LUME presentation of Monet and Friends. I urge everyone to go to that interactive exhibit while it remains in Indianapolis.
The main museum has a couple floors of wonderful paintings. There was even a piano on the second floor inviting people to show off their skills, which is a nice touch. While there, be sure to eat at the restaurant. Of course, it is expensive, but the food is delicious.
yao wang
Can't express in words how awesome this place is. Just have to go check it out for yourself 👌 worth it. …
Julia Mclane
Christmas lights were beautiful!
I needed to sit down towards the end, but no benches. ThT was really tough.
Fredrick Miller
New fields is an amazing place to get lost in the art around you. The space is beautiful & the staff is friendly yet lets you explore the art in your own way.
Tack
Awesome museum ! Make sure you see Lume
Holly Brown
When I was planning a trip to Indianapolis a lot of friends told me Newfields was a must-see. I get why now! Bring your walking shoes for this one--there's more than you're going to be able to see in a day. Admission was only $18. A wide range of cultures and time periods are represented. There was a great selection of impressionist and pointillist works, which are a personal favorite (sadly I didn't realize that taking pictures was ok as long as the flash was off until we were mostly past that section). Placards do an excellent job of putting each work into its historical context. I'm sad that my trip didn't overlap with the coming Van Gogh exhibit, but I was still very pleased with the experience!
Luis E. Alfonzo
Excellent museum to visit with the kids in any season. You can walk by the beautiful gardens or see the changing exhibitions galleries. Every visit will be a different experience.
Charbel Harb
Very nice place with a big variety in the art collection. Really enjoyed the Van Gogh exposition a few months back, it had a very special feel with how the sound and the pictures were aligned. Other than that the garden is amazing and very peaceful. Plus they offer free membership for UIndy, UIPUI and Butler students which is really good and gives student the opportunity to develop their artistic side. The gift shop is very diverse so you might find something interesting and you should definitely try the modern art activities.
Angelique McVey
Only got to look from the outside because it was so pricy I decided not to go in and see the exhibits. I’m not used to paying for an art museum- so expect to spend over $20 to get in. From the outside, it looked beautiful. And I did get to see some sculpture art outside in the garden. Beautiful building and I hope to go back to see more of the museum!
Amy Babcock
I was able to see this museum for $18 so beautiful visit. 4 floors firework mazing
Tom Stmyer
There's some really nice art here.
Highly recommend seeing the monet exhibit if you can, but if you miss that there are still some very nice pieces.
Tapan Katwala
Definitely recommend going. The art and the outside garden grounds are beautiful. Beer garden is nice as well.
Steven Hallmark
I had not been to newfields since it was the Indianapolis Museum of Art. I was very pleased with the updates and overall new vibe of the museum. This is a pleasant place to spend time, admire art, and to simply be. The Lume is an interesting new way to experience art, and I’ll be looking forward to the next exhibit and any others as I would love to return.
Kelly B
First visit for us at the Newfields Museum. Where else can you get a self portrait picture of yourself "Van Gogh 'd", have a drink with edible flowers and play Pokemon too! Beautiful grounds to explore.
Jason Christenson
This place gets better and better with time! This place is one of the most amazing, beautiful places in Indiana to visit. Great history, amazing artwork, well-informed, incredible staff and exceptional detailed information placards. It costs about $18 per adult, but it is worthwhile, especially on a sunny day for the Gardens. This place will always be a special place because I got engaged here! Parking is free and underground so it is covered in the event of rain or snow. Go!
Uwe Oertel
Newfields (IMA) is the art museum in the region with four floors of precious and unique pieces of art including the impressive new Monet multimedia presentation on the fourth level showing animated paintings of Monet and his colleagues on the walls and the floor of three huge rooms.
Also the garden area has several different flowers and plants to offer.
Heather Metzger
Amazing experience. Spent 1.5 hours, but easily could have spent all day.
Darla Powell
We saw both the Van Gogh and Monet exhibits! We absolutely LOVED them? Wonderful place to visit! We tell everyone to visit New fields!
Heather Wells
Loved the experience of Monet and Friends. Show lasts about 35 minutes. So I would plan 2-2.5 hours to see everything if you don't watch Monet twice. 😁
Suzanne Fortenberry
Such a great place to spend the day inside and out.
Sandra Ndichu
A wonderful place to spend am afternoon...both indoors and outdoors. You will always find something to enjoy! I'm looking forward to visiting in the winter for Winterlights.
Patti Lacey
I love strolling through the gardens here and viewing paintings and learning about the artists in the museum. A membership would make a great mother's day gift.
Shannon Fells
The LUME is a must see program! It runs about an hour. The other exhibits are interesting. The gardens are astouding! This is an excellent place to visit with plenty to see.
Vanessa N
This place is a MUST SEE! Staff is friendly, all of the exhibits are beautiful and breathtaking, and it is worth the trip! I will be returning during the Winter to see the Lightfest!
Elizabeth Coffey
Fun for Mentee, she enjoyed as well as myself. Alot to see but on limited time. Free first Thursday of the month helps with allowing those less fortunate to gain great knowledge and wisdom. Explore all around you!
Lori
Love the IMA and all of the grounds surrounding it. Such a beautiful place to visit year round. Went to the Winter Lights and was overjoyed at the lights, the Lily house, the smores at the fire pits, the vendors in the venue space. It was so wonderful! And the gift shop was open!
Carol Weintraut
We went to the Lume to see the digital exhibit of Monet's and others work. I have to say it was not as good as Van Gogh.
There were more than Monet's art work. So, that's why I was disappointed. It still not like standing in front of the real painting.
Amaya Tarrants
The garden area is wonderful. Lots of flowers and beautiful views. Although, I wish the fourth floor was open. This museum was pretty, but doesn’t take very long to walk the inside. Hopefully more art will be available as the fourth floor opens!
Jason A. Bright
Interesting exhibits, fun summer programs, easy parking and an exceptional green house and garden make this Museum one of my family's favorites!
David Diamond
Had no idea how much time we would spend there. So much to see. Great art, wonderful gardens, helpful friendly staff, really had a great time.
Nick Balsley
Hadn’t been here in years forgot how wonderful the art museum was. Lots of interesting exhibits. Looking forward to going to the gardens this spring
Sam LeVon
Fairly nice art museum with a few pieces by some Masters. A cool exhibits of household goods from back in the day and whatnot. Really nice gardens and grounds surrounding the museum as well. The rebranding is a little odd, but a really nice place to visit. Somewhat pricey and only offer military discount part of the year..
Gretchen Berger
Such a fun place to come year round as the exhibits are always changing. Good for solo visits as well as with friends!
Christian Little
We had a great time looking at all the lights! Hopefully we get the chance to see them next year ⛄🎄 …
Sue Smitha
Went to latest Lume exhibit today. It was great. We are blessed here in Indianapolis to have such a great art museum.
April Wilson
Just recently had my first Visit. Loved it! Definitely plan on going back in the fall!
Marilyn Dodds
I enjoyed the exhibit on Chicago Imiagists. It included many artists I didn't know, which is always fun. I was happy to see the Museum full on a free day. Newfields has work to do to rebuild trust in the community. More outreach, more free days will help.
Tina Barnheart
I had the opportunity to help a friend at the Penrod Art Fair. I was simply impressed with the organization of traffic control by Butler Police and volunteers. I plan to volunteer next year.
Chrystopher Burns
Great experience for Art lovers and novices of the arts... Took my 6th grade class there in a field trip.
Ashley Salazar
Went for a day trip and ended spending the entire afternoon there. Loved all the different exhibits and interactive activities!
Amy Harris
I always love coming here. Gardens, art, food and a very nice gift shop.
Michelle Marcotte
Beautiful year round, indoors and out. Several floors of art (paintings, sculpture, pottery, furniture etc) and beautiful garden on the grounds. Don't miss the greenhouses either.
Ann Ngo
This art is so huge and amazing. We've should spent more time here lol there were so many exhibits here with different style, African, American, Asian and Mediterranean and contemporary art. We went to all places they have, even the garden, and it's worth it. However, my friend was not allowed to wear the camera from the back :/ still don't get it
Josh Grossman
Great museum! Incredible collection. Great art from around the world and through time. The building itself is interesting too. They have gardens also, but we didn't see them as the weather was cold and rainy and only the 1st day of spring, but they are supposed to be very nice
Ginger Ann
Very nice clean gallery. Everyone was super nice and helpful, and there was lots of staff on hand. Beautiful art of many styles to view. The gift shop had many beautiful things and the employees were very friendly and helpful. Compared to the art museums in Chicago and Philly, the gift shop prices were extremely overpriced. That being said, everything else was wonderful.
Lazaro Gonzalez
Great space to enjoy art. Not the best in the region regarding renown art and artists but very vary. Outside space is great.
Joseph Lee
Beautiful and fun art museum. A definite must see!
Alex Cross
One of the best art museums I have ever been to. The collection was diverse and very interesting. I particularly enjoyed the European collection and the special seasons of Japan sections. The entire building had a very nice atmosphere and I particularly enjoyed how different sections were themed differently to compliment the exhibits. After spending a couple hours here, my visited the gardens and even though I visited during the winter and the Flora was not yet blooming, it still was a pretty area. I would definitely visit in the spring or summer when the gardens are at their peak.
Overall a wonderful museum and I would highly recommend visiting!
Evan Kelsick
A little expensive, but they have great exhibits and its very clean and nice. Not much here before 1600 though I don't think.
Charles Smith
What an amazing place to go and relax . Great views and architect.
Dr. Nyla Fleming
The most illuminated pumpkins that I’ve ever seen. There were pluses & minuses to our experience. The pluses were free well organized parking, tickets were easy to purchase, and well decorated. The minuses were the price & crowd size. The attraction is relatively small, so it’s not like you’ll spend a lot time time there. This made the ticket price seem a bit much. I was disappointed how quickly we came to the end. The crowd was larger than I expected. I felt mostly safe since everyone was wearing a mask but in some areas traffic stagnated. Maneuvering the crowd took away from the magic. We went on a weekend, I probably should have opted for a weekday. But...the pumpkins were beautiful.
Ann Brown
Beautiful exhibits. Great fun for the family. Will come again.
Danielle King
What a gorgeous museum! Beautiful walking paths, lovely art.
Frank T
This was a fun place to go to for a date. My wife and I walked through and enjoyed the exhibits.

Awesome! It was the Christmas Light show at the Art Museum.About 1 hour of walking pretty cold but over all awesome!
Trevor Bergman
This was a really unique holiday experience. The grounds were beautifully decorated and the volunteers/staff were incredibly friendly and helpful without being overbearing. They even had warming stations to take off the winter chill. A very nice touch!
I could easily see this becoming a yearly holiday tradition. If you have kids this is a must see!
Daniel Blankenship
Great place to spend the day. Get there early, budged time before lunch with your choice of galleries, gardens, greenhouses, lake, and a historic house that’s open to the public. Grab a bite to eat and then explore some more! You won’t be sorry!
Kylee Gall
It is a lovely mueseum in a beautiful setting. The museum is set up well and has interesting exhibits. The trails outside are fun to walk on to view some of the outdoor pieces. There are some play sets outside as well. My family could even get in for free with a reciprocal membership to a botanical garden.
Helenmarie Chamberlain-Snook
Went for the Monet experience. Awesone place, plenty of parking. Woukd love to go back in warm weather and explore the grounds.
Megan Rector
One of my absolute favorite spots in Indy. Amazing art, beautiful gardens and outdoor art installations. They have vhsnged the layouts on some of the floors, so if you haven't been in a while you should go back. It's interesting to see what you will find around the next corner! We also really love the new LED ceiling installation on the 1st floor. It's very relaxing just listening to the music and watching the changes in colors and designs. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because within the past 5 years, the museum has significantly increased their prices, as well as restricted opportunities.
Just a few years ago the grounds used to be free to visit, as did the museum. To go from free to $18 a person for the museum and the grounds is a huge leap and really decreases access to those who can't financially afford it. In the same line, the grounds used to be accessible to anyone, but now are gated/blocked and there is a cost to walk around even to get to the greenhouse. If you can afford to take yourself and your family, it's a great experience. Go and enjoy the beautiful art!
mashiro white
Great art museum. It gets what you want to see
Alyssa Brandon
Such a beautiful place! We could have spent all day here!
P Justice
Loved it! Magnificent displays and interaction. Friendly staff. Must see.
David Huang
It is so beautiful and peaceful. It is more than a museum.I love the nice garden and amazing Lilly House(Really hope I could live in the fantastic house). There are so many arts in the museum. The paintings, the sculptures, the furnitures, the clothes and so on. You can enjoy all kinds of stuff from all over the world. I highly recommend it. Definitely will come back(maybe in the Christmas holiday to see the light show)
Retro Playz 667
Very beautiful art gallery, workers are nice and will help out if you are lost or are trying to start somewhere
Jasmine Scott
Winterfest at Newfields was magnificent. I recommend taking everyone to take your family to this event.
Tim Frost
Absolutely stunning displays. Also, the spiked bourbon cider is off the hook! It's kind of a hassel to pigeon hole yourself I to a time slot, but it's is well worth it.
Ryan Benczik
Great place, amazing displays! Penrod art fair had tons of talented artists!
K. Michael VerKamp
Always a pleasure to visit, the LUME exhibit was the ultimate treat! Beyond words, taking you into the world of Van Gough!
Whitney Colón
Managed to snag Winterlights tickets before they sold out and spent Christmas evening enjoying all of the beautiful displays. Unfortunately, Christmas night was incredibly cold, so our visit was a little rushed but I still had a wonderful time and look forward to going again in the future!
Chin Ng
We went to see the Van Gogh digital art show, but we also enjoyed seeing the rest of the museum. We did not realize there was so much to see, otherwise we would have set aside a lot more time. Very nice museum. Good cafe and plenty of free parking.
MaGz iLy
These were just a few pictures from my trip but there were plenty more and it was an amazing experience
Aaron Lawson
Took the family to the Holiday Lights outside at Newfields. Great time and it wasn’t too packed, even though it was on a Saturday night after Thanksgiving. The hot drinks and festive decorations and music make this a holiday classic and fun family tradition, if not just a tad expensive for the whole family to go. Im happy to spend a little extra cash in order to support our local museums and events!
Benji Craig
Gogh today! The Lume exhibit was amazing.
Kris Deutsch
Spring has sprung at Newfields. Unique VanGogh immersive Lume experience inside too (4/30/22).
Kay Wells
Wait a really great experience. Staff hovered a lot which made us uncomfortable at times. But overall we really enjoyed ourselves. Things were executed well.
Wendy Longacre
The Lume VanGogh exhibit was stunning - new and old - visually breathtaking in parts.
Muktanil Duttaroy
Beautiful Christmas light and sound on winterlight. Too much rush so get your tickets in much advance.
Paul Davis
Lume exhibition is excellent! Many other great exhibits!
Regina Smith
Nice experience, visited for MLK day by the way the hot chocolate there is so delicious 😊 …

Jason Stoner
The Museum Is Beautiful and Unique. The Glass Sculptures Are Incredible !
Kimberly Kelley
Always a pleasure! Even with the current state of the pandemic, we were able to browse, enjoy the installations, and truly get lost in the pleasure of viewing. I absolutely recommend this for enthusiasts young and old!
Brian Fedje
The Lume exhibit featuring Monet was very good. Highly recommend! The grounds are great also. The entire facility is a great gem for the city.
Roger Peter
The Van Gogh experience at the Lume is a must do if you are a fan of art. It's even more fun if you're not a fan!
Don't go if you're feeling motion sick! The show is about 45 minutes long and the extra features have 3 more shows of other creators. It's worth your time and trip!
Ron Reid
Went to visit because of the traveling Van Gogh exhibit. Was pleasently surprised by the modern design gallery and the other exhibits available. Will go back to walk the grounds for the exterior exhibits when the weather is more cooperative.
Alec Boykin
Amazing museum with wonder artwork. The outdoor area is huge and a wonderful place to walk around on a sunny day. Kusama exhibit was particularly interesting.

Arbitrage Addict
Such a great place. Always enjoy our trips here. Always clean, bright and provided a great experience. Visited the Van Gogh Experience this time and it was fantastic. Exceeded my expectations.
Deb Popson
A wonderful visit to an expected collection of art. Indianapolis offers great opportunities for culture and, while this museum was too big for me to see in one day, the list of coming events makes me want to move to Indy!
christianna herb
The spring blooms exhibit was beautiful to walk and admire even on a heavy trafficked day. Staff were friendly and helpful. The grounds were well kept and easy to navigate.
Forrest Brem
Love the place but they could be more kid-friendly and I'm having a hard time getting over that whole racist job post thing, but at least they responded and I hope to see more black and brown people there in the future.
Jason Sappenfield
We had a great time walking through looking at the Christmas lights!
Kenton D. Mills
The Museum was great in terms of the experience. We enjoyed viewing the Van Gogh exhibit on the floor and the walls. It gave the movie-like experience along with the art show experience. Thank you for the wonderful experience. My family and I enjoyed and appreciated very much.
Mark Toskin
Loved it! Best art museum I've ever seen.
Jane
Came to see the immersive Monet exhibit. Very enjoyable, beautiful artwork.
Jae Leigh
The Lume was a truly wonderful experience. We also wandered through several different exhibits and plan to return soon.
Sherri Pace
Enjoy the wide range of Art, the Art Gallery also enjoy the gardens immensely. They are redoing a small portion of the walkways ,part of the gardens but the gardens are still well worth seeing. I also enjoyed the orchids in the greenhouse there.
James Hall
Neat little museum, nothing fancy. Horrible hours. It really is too bad.
WarPaint Custom
This place is Beautiful. Did not get a lot of time to tour the inside but the gardens are amazing, the views are stunning and full of lots of great photo opertunities. If your looking for a place for an outside venue or wedding you should consider Newfields.
Alexandra Kathryn Pearl Bookamer
Wow, amazing array of art pieces! I appreciated how many kinds of media there are.
Clark Wright
Awesome country estate and gardens in "our own back yard"..didnt realize it was here (connected to art museum)
Matt Therault
We love going to IMA. We were really unhappy when they started to charge to get in, but since they have started to charge. They have been steadily improving the grounds and the events that they are holding. We love going in spring for the flowers, and in winter for the lights. Of you are visiting Indy it is definitely a good place to visit.
Julie M
Looove this museum! Great exhibits that always surprise me. Happy to see some old favorite pieces and noticed some newer acquisitions. It was a free night too so that was great, donated since I wasn’t charged.
Shreeja mothi rupchandar
A very good place to leisurely spend an entire day in Indy. The Lilly house (about 52 acres) tour is attached to the museum. Can walk along the estate and also relax in the Beer Garden.
Ry
Old world meets new world charm, so many different mediums of art and so many collections that a membership is worth it!
Julie Hogue
Their holiday events are so much fun and well thought out. Family friendly or a great date night! Always look forward to the next event!! Harvest nights was a fun, spooky time.
C Sparks
Amazing place with wonderful exhibits. If you want a full experience plan for most of the day and explore the musuem and grounds.
Dennis Wells
The Christmas lights @ Newfields are outstanding. We took 2 grandchildren & they had a great time. Create your own s'mores were great for the kids. Beer & wine for the adults equally super.
Roger Evans
A great art center including a fountain and natural gardens. The restaurant and gift shops are with the stop off I 65-70. Something for the whole family as well as nice rest branches
Curt Gauen
Bloom was a very enjoyable afternoon. It was a mini vacation in the middle of our week!
Stefanie Schleeter
Great family fun! We had a blast here our favorite part of harvest nights at Newfields was the talking pumpkin that's interactive and the ghost train.
Christopher Logan
Beautiful gallery with many beautiful things to do outside
Natalie Waite
Van Gogh interactive exhibit makes his art fun for all ages & appreciations of art! Family even got to 'Gogh & Van Gogh themselves!'
Robby Lawson
A good light show. Opportunities to get food and drinks along the winterlights event trail. There was a s'more making event with the girl scouts, too, with a monetary fee of course. Overall, it was ok.
G Santana
The museum is huge, the building connected to the outside garden Jennifer Bank. You can spend the whole day in this place, the garden and park is free, only the museum you need to pay an admission fee.
Dana Davidson
Amazing! We spent almost an entire day at Newfields. We did the outside portion first. We love flowers and visited during early May, so everything was in bloom and was stunning. We had lunch at the cafe outside which was delicious. Bring your walking shoes. Lots and lots of walking in order to see all that this place has to offer. We did not think the inside art museum could compare to the outside but it did! Tons of beautiful and interesting art. I could have spent hours looking at their Monet paintings. Wow!
Ashley Adams
The word WoW can't be said enough!!! Such amazing details of beauty everywhere you look!! Can't believe this was our first year! We've told everyone we know about it and recommend everyone go! Will be going annually now! Online pictures do this place no justice!
Sydney Hale
We came for Penrod and had the best time! My family has a membership to come in and we love every time we're here!
Kevin s
Just experienced the Lume exhibit at Newfields and absolutely loved it. Newfields is an amazing place and we are lucky to have it here in Indianapolis. I definitely would recommend the Lume exhibit and I look forward to my next adventure at Newfields.
Andrew Shively
Awesome museum with cool events around the holidays. Photo creds to Danielle Shively.
Spencer Ryan
Awesome place. The membership is affordable and well worth it. The Vincent Van Gogh Lume Exhibit was out of this world. The best experience of my life. 🤩 …
Doug Kichler
First time there. Very impressive. The Monet and friends experience was outstanding!
Daisy Hibbard
Since moving here in 2006 I've only walked through the whole museum once. I typically come here for the special movie events like B-Movie Bingo, the Internet Cat Video Festival, and Summer Nights Film Fest. Every now and then I'll visit a new exhibit and they are put together very well, but I love the effort they put into the special programming to celebrate the arts in unique ways.
The grounds are also an incredible outdoor experience. Try walking the whole trail around the lake! Overall this is a very fun place to visit with friends!
Fantashia S
Very diverse collection of art and by far the largest art museum I've been to!!!
Phil Shafer
Epic art collection and amazing grounds
Eleni
Beautiful space, well taken care of! Visited for the Winter Lights and I was blown away! Excited to see what the gardens look like when the flowers are in full bloom.

Clair Purtell
Firstly, huge shout out to guest services who helped me with a ticket scheduling issue I was having. Very helpful.
Second, I really enjoyed the Lume exhibit. I would recommend getting tickets while this exhibit is still going on.
Nick Cockerham
We went here for their Winterlight show, and it was pretty amazing. The staff was all very helpful and friendly and the event was well organized. We would love to come back for a different event or just to see the museum without all the decorations sometime.
Butch Cassidy
Came for the Christmas lights and had a blast. The hot chocolate was amazing and we got to make s'mores. I highly recommend going.
Amanda Stahl
We had a great time at the Winterlights at Newfields on Jan 1. I tried to get tickets before Christmas about two weeks prior and they were sold out but that’s ok because when we went was fine. It was rainy but it still was pretty nice and we got some great photos.
marvin pribble
Gardens are wonderful this time of year.
Brittany Latoz
The Lume was breathtaking.
The rest of the museum has some amazing pieces! There were some points where I didn't understand the flow of art from one room to the next.and I wish the museum was bigger. Still 5 stars!
Candace Batten
Harvest was a great evening! Beautiful setting with food & drinks.
Goodykos
The gardens are extremely beautiful and well tended. The old architecture and infrastructure within the park give is a charm that is both nostalgic and calming. It is nature's art and it is fitting for it to be at the same place where art made by man is located.
Don Current
Excellent art museum. Loved the outdoor gardens as well as the exhibits. It was very busy but didn't really feel like it for most of the museum. The Vincent Van Gogh immersive exhibit was INCREDIBLE. Very well done.
Tessah R
Cafe food was good little pricey but recommend the shrimp bahn mi sandwich. Overall loved the Vincent Van Gogh exhibit and the museum and outdoor garden trails and Lily House was so pretty 😍 the art work on the second floor, Asian Art Exhibit, and Design Exhibit on the third floor were so cool and extremely informative. Loved the Japanese Tea Ceremony interactive setup and I was very thankful for the escalators and elevators available. Overall would love to come back and see the giant cloud again and would love if miniatures were available for sale of it would buy it in an instant 😊
Kristin Cox
Winterlights was amazing. My girls (both teens) loved seeing all the lights, had fun roasting marshmallows around the fire-pit, and enjoyed sipping on hot chocolate as we listened to music and walked the beautiful lit-up grounds. Would definitely recommend and will be back.
Laura Mings
The lights were amazing and even though there was sort of a crowd, there was ample space for it!
Morgan Fleck
Had such a great time at winter lights. Absolutely gorgeous! Volunteers were so helpful and the snacks and drinks were very good. Such a lovely date night!
Evie S
Super nice and very fun! Van Gogh experience was beautiful and the Lilly House was very interesting to go through. Very organized where everything is and lots of very cool items and art.

Jasmine O'Conner
I visited Newfields on Sunday, February 13, 2022 with my girlfriend for an early Valentine’s Day celebration. We had such a good time. We were able to find parking and were greeted immediately upon entering the facility.
We visited almost every portion of the museum including each floor, The Lume and the cafe. The museum was so beautiful and welcoming. It has been some time since I have visited an art museum and Newfields definitely understands the assignment when it comes to a museum. The Lume and the cafe was so breath-taking and mind blowing. I was just lost for words as I was walking through the exhibit. Our server that we had was so friendly and talked to us about the items on the menu and drink selection.
I would definitely recommend this location and would like to return once they change the exhibit.
Mary Ann Paris
The WinterLights exhibit was amazing! It was so beautiful. We will definitely be going again next year.
Surisa Richardson
Good place but a lot of mean employee.
1). When calling, no one answered while they have a lot of employee walking and standing around there. You have to leave a message every time, and they will contact you back a day or two.
2). I went with a little kid, I asked if there's any art he could touch. The guy took me to the area where it has a dark & empty spot looked like a gian black screen TV. He told me to put my hand over there to touch it. Of course there's nothing there and he laughs on us.
3). We went to Christmas lights with our friends and kids. It was rainy, cold & late night. So we had the kids ran around inside the building by the garage afterwards (hallway before the garage), no one was there. We thought we would have them play for 10-15 min before we separated as they didn't see each other for a long time.
The kids didn't even scream or anything (as we were so cautious about loud noises) but they just playing with each other. the employee came down and said very rudely that "I want you to leave immediately!"
With the hand on her hip and acted like she is ready to punch us! We were so mad, this is the rudest person we ever met in life! And it was from the art museum? I won't complain if it from the bar or somewhere else.
I wish this place can treat people with kindness.
Jeremy Crutchfield
Loved the Van Gogh exhibit. Nice variety of exhibits throughout the museum and grounds. We had a great time with our 9 year old.
Steve Roberts
Fantastic regional museum with excellent special exhibits. Permanent collection is sufficient. Somewhat limited to donor's taste in art.
H. Anne Weiss
Whether you are exploring the grounds of Oldfield (the Lilly House, beer garden, paths, etc.), or the art park on the other side of the White River, or the many art galleries, or taking in a show at the Basel Theatre, OR dropping your kiddos off for a camp... Can you see where I am going here,... There is so much to do.
I rarely think of this place as "something to do" but that stops now, especially because the membership gets you into EVERYTHING- including some stuff down in Columbus, IN.
Definitely 5 stars for ages 7 to 107.
Definitely a spot to go to in all seasons- I'm excited to go back to the grounds (bier garden and amazing landscaping) in the warmer months and to go to the art galleries multiple times throughout the wet and cold days.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff throughout all my experiences.
I highly recommend checking it out.
NOTE: if you reside in on of the surrounding neighborhoods (I'm in Crown Hill) you get a FREE household membership! 😎 👍🏻
Jacob Bower-Bir
Excellent encyclopedic collection situated on beautiful grounds. The beer garden is a nice summer addition. Its unfortunate the grounds are not as accessible as they once were, and there could stand to be more free evenings than are currently offered, but well worth a visit. The 100 acre sculpture park is always free.
Mo Arazi
Really nice art museum, even compared to big cities.
Chris Jackson
The Impressionists inner active exhibit was incredible..... highly recommend it
Nic Craig
Really cool exhibits and there is always something new each time I go (Personally, I go about once a year). I especially enjoyed the new digital art displays that show the creativity that exists online as well.
Pamela Knotts
Amazing art, so much to see. Definitely need multiple visits to fully explore everything. Chipmunks in the garden are sooooo cute!
Elise Lenehan
Fabulous Christmas experience. Very well done!
Daniel Harris
Wow wow WOOWWW !! amazing museum in indiana! you have to enjoy every space that newfields offers !! IT'S CRAZY !! each floor takes you to know the art. a beautiful garden lily's house is amazing !!
Tiara Nibbs
The grounds are beautiful and you can learn so much from the audio on each sculpture
Nick Schroeder
Fun museum to visit. It has a diverse collection and a beautiful design. The grounds surrounding the museum are pleasant and you should take the time to walk around or have a picnic.
Spike Wilson
My wife and I recently visited the Indianapolis Museum of Art, located on the newfields campus. While I feel the name change was poorly explained it advertised, our enjoyment of the facility and all it offers remains consistent. The rebranding does not apply to facilities or services, but to the campus as a whole, which includes the museum Gardens and other historical buildings. We are excited to see the over 1 million Christmas lights later this year. The art is especially diverse. However, there are some historical and factual inaccuracies that are quite disturbing. For example, the Asian Art Exhibit prefers to two branches of Buddhism, the Mahayana and the Hinayana. To Modern Buddhist throughout the world, this latter term is considered a slur, because it means lesser vehicle in Sanskrit, compared to Mahayana, which means great vehicle. Also, in their ancient Mediterranean exhibit, there are some problems with their spelling and translation of ancient Greek. In the picture below, the word for "hi" should be "chaire" not "cairi." I am surprised that a facility with so many experts would make such basic mistakes in their use of words and their spelling. Aside from these and a couple of other minor il mistakes, however, this is a great facility that is worth many visits, and not just a single day.
Jacen Smith
Such a beautiful experience overall. I'm not an "art guy" and the presentation of the art really made me look deeper into Van Gogh's art style. I would highly recommend this museum.
Layla Talbert
Love this Art museum employees are wonderful great customer service and love what the do during the holidays
Jedna Vira
Must see during the holidays! Lights are amazing. They offer beverages, adult and regular drinks, all along the walk. Awesome experience.
Nicky Lee
Harvest Nights was very fun for our family. A++
Terry Bradley
What an amazing art museum and situated on beautiful grounds.
Dylan H
Nothing bad to say - great parking situation, wonderfully clean and tidy atmosphere, and great selection of activities (art, rotating exhibits, Christmas lights during winter, etc.). Makes for a fun outing whenever we go!
Side note: they sell alcohol and food which is a plus, and it is very close to a great selection of restaurants nearby (within 10 min drive).
Sharon H
Went to the Van Gogh exhibit. Great for the whole family.
Anna Hartman
With zero expectations going in, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves to the tune of 5 hours on this campus! Special shout out to the docents at the Lilly House, so kind and knowledgeable.
Garnet Vaughan
Really enjoyed Winterlights despite the weather. Smooth logistics and always friendly staff. :-)
C Snider
The Lume was amazing a must see!
Dustin Hall
Had a Good time Beautiful seeing all the lights... like walking in a light wonderland lol...
Flair Hayden
I had a great time here, especially in the Lume. Worth a revisit, i wasn't even able to see everything in one day, there's so much to see!
Diana Biddle
Enjoyed the afternoon walking the gardens, drinking German beers, and running into old friends.
Katie Ruffing
My only complaint was that there was so much to see that I rushed through the exhibits. The orchid exhibit was a must see!
Leslie Dubs
Just a wonderful art museum. We really liked the family day on Saturday that was Indian themed. The music and dancing was great. My 2 year old was fascinated by the children's area. The sequined canvases were such a good idea. Newfields is a great place. I recommend to anyone who lives in Indy or just visiting as I was.
George Taylor
This place never disappoints. There are cool events throughout the year, interesting exhibits and a gorgeous biergarten. Happy to have been a member for 3yrs and counting.
Mike Garrett
This is an amazing gallery with a surprising world class collection of masterworks. Very tastefully curated.
Nikhil P Naik
Good place for art lovers, a huge place with lots of exhibits and displays.
Bryan McCorkle
Loved the Lume experience. Such an immersive experience. Well done Newfields!
Barbara Napier
Beautiful grounds, amazing art collection... go see Van Gogh exhibit
Dianne Frick
Went to see Van Gogh Lume. Wonderful. Cheaper than others. Looking forward to Monet and Friends.
Lee A McKay
Very much enjoyed The Lume featuring the works of Vincent Van Gogh. It was a great way to experience his paintings through sensory, colors and mood. His post-impressionism work was magnificent and filled with emotion through his broad paint strokes and vivid colors. Some of his paintings became animated with flying birds and floating clouds, making you feel like a part of the painting as it enveloped you with sound, smells and surrounding views. If you enjoy Van Gogh, please don't miss this one.
Steven Berg
Been a member for two years and went to renew my yearly and they increased the cost. Unless they’ve increased the employees salary I don’t see how they justify the increase of membership.
Dean Trester
Lovely art museum with many events and programs. Friendly hosts, summer night movies, cultural themes, and many more.
