Reviews of Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum
Victor vazquez
Great tour of the facility. We did the tram tour with 3 kids and it entertained them too. The museum has plenty of old cars to look at and examine. The information about the history is amazing! Ferrari’s were on the track the day we where there and sounded amazing.
PG Madden
Even if you're not a racing enthusiast, you'll enjoy this stop. We added the tour to our package and it was well worth the additional charge. The guide was great, shared his life experiences as a Indy 500 fan which made the tour much more informative. Only item which couldn't be included was the speedway lap because it was in use by Chevy running Corvette test trials. Museum has many of the past winning cars and an interactive area with racing simulators.
Michael Scala
If you are a racing fan, you must visit. I did the kiss the bricks tour and museum. Very impressed with how big this place is. They took us around the 2 1/2 mile track and stopped at the stop finish line so we can get out and look at around. I loved being on the track itself and being able to walk around and see how big it is. I'm definitely going back to watch a race. I just wish they had some NASCAR memorabilia inside the museum.
Chi Babich
The Kiss the Bricks Tour is worth it! The tour includes a lap around the actual track and an opportunity to get out and walk around at the Start/Finish area and of course, kiss the bricks! The price of the tour also includes admission to the museum. Which has an amazing collection of actual winning race cars dating back over 100 years. The experience and the museum took about 90 minutes. The museum is located inside the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, enter at gate 2 and drive under the track to get there. Yes, under the actual race track! It was a fun experience, go.

For motor sports fans and car speed lovers, it's the place to be. You'll see real cars which won the race in last more than 5 decades. Great place for car racing fans overall. Those of you who know nothing about racing or formula one etc, you may just click some pics here n there, but may not enjoy that well.
Amy C
So fun!!! Never been before. Spend a little and do the private golf cart tour. It was wonderful! Wish we had enough time to do the BMW driving experience. Looks like it is a lot of fun!
Jeremiah Reising
We visit here about once a year. I've done the tour and it's great. The exhibits change yearly, so there's always something new to check out and it's just not Indy Car. They've had cars from Nascar, Dirt Tracks and Le Man's. Highly recommend if your a racing fan.
Deepak Sahoo
Have enough time in hand to spend at the historically rich place.. so much information and cars to explore. Must visit place if you are in and around Indy, I could not stop clicking pictures. If you get lucky as me then you can enjoy some of the cars practice for racing and can see the engines revs up and hear the music of the car roaring...
Sofia Briones
Husband and I came here from Illinois, we couldn't WAIT to visit this place! It was so freaking awesome to be inside the racetrack and also to see all the history inside the museum. Our whole family had a great time! Next time for sure we will go earlier so we can go on one of the tours!
Brandon Dykstra
Great to see the evolution of the cars over the years. The museum felt like just the right size. The tour was fun and very informative. I would recommend to anyone interested in cars and in the area
May Bo Hubbard
Super fun museum for the kids. We spent about 45 mins there. The younger kids were done by then but my oldest could have spent longer. It was fun to see the cars save displays. The r ladies were welcoming but my kids did get in trouble for touching a few things they weren’t supposed to touch. The photography room was great!
Rhonda M.
Nice museum. There's a short movie on the history of the Indy 500. Cars that have won the 500 are on display. In addition, there's racing simulators and an Indy car to sit in for a picture opportunity. I would suggest 2 to 3 hours for your visit. Also good to know is that it is wheelchair accessible. We really enjoyed this museum!
Martin Riggs
What a great tour! We were so much in talking, the 60 min tour lastet almost 90 min. Great guides, very experienced and informative. We will come back!
Javier Chavez
Excellent hands on experience of the most famous racetrack in the world. Took a bus tour of the track (unfortunately only at 20 MPH), got to kiss the bricks. Took a tour of the museum. They say every car starts up and runs. You can try to break a speed record in their video game race game (free). Price breaks on active military, veterans and seniors.
Jaime Soto
Nothing like car racing history to make a car ride seem more pleasurable. Enjoyed this experience. Alot of history in the sport here. A must stop if a fan of racing.
Garry Thompson
No trip to Indianapolis would be complete without a visit to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame and Museum. The museum is actually located inside of the Speedway Infield and you gain access through the tunnel under turn two, off of 16th Street. During my visit, track tours were not available as the speedway was in use. There are several track tours available ranging from a quick 30-minute lap around the track to a move inclusive 60 or 90 minute tours. I strongly suggest you check the Museum Website to see if the speedway is in use and if tour are being offered on the day of your visit. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum is a well-managed facility with a very knowledgeable and helpful staff. The staff is more than willing to answer any questions and can give visitors good insight about the many vehicles that are on display. There are a large number vehicles on display including the original pace car from the 1911 Indy 500, Craig Breedlove’s, “Spirit of America” and a large number of past Indy 500 winning cars. Overall I enjoyed my visit to the Museum. Overall I enjoyed my visit and would encourage anyone that is in the Indianapolis area to make it a point to visit this very fine museum.
Martinez
Enjoyed my visit at the Indianapolis Speedway Museum! Not really into the Indy 500, but wanted to stop anyway. It was really interesting to see the exhibit and cars of past years winners.
Mike McGuire
I've lived in Indy most of my life and have gone to several races but have never been to the museum. There are the actual winning cars and plenty of history to be seen and told. There are quite a few "guides" available to answer questions, and even if a visitor to town doesn't go to the actual race, the Museum is a must-see!

1st time here, but a longtime Indy 500 race fan..this was awesome..
Had some formula 1 cars racing /practicing...
That was so cool..
Hearing how loud......wow
Imagine it being race day and with spectators...can accomodate..350,000.
And infield...up to 20,000..omg..
This place is massive...
Took the tour..which took 1 hour..and included the museum price too..
Took us to private places...
Went to the winners spot..where they celebrate the winner..with the wreath..n drink the milk..
Went to the media center..where all the tv broadcasters... of the race...and are from all around the world..that was huge..great view right by the track..
Went up in Roger Penskes private suite..
4th floor in the pagoda...wow..what a view..can see all the turns..of the whole track...
Great tour guides and our bus driver..
Very friendly and answering questions.
The bus is air conditioned..
Really fascinating to see...
Museum and gift shop..
The museum is really cool..see many years ago winner cars...whole wall of pictures and descriptions of winners since 1911..

Just a really really..enjoyable visit..for a long time race fan..
Ian Waugh
Did the behind the scenes tour and LOVED it!! Ferrari was racing 10 cars around while we were there... was Sweet! I wish the tour would have been timed alittle before lunch as when we started the tour, the racers went to lunch 🥺. The tour guide and driver we VERY educated and super friendly. A+
Ryan
Informative group tour of the speedway. Outgoing and friendly guide. Many photo opportunities. Great price at only $15 got an hour tour.
Brian Stricklin
The cars they have at the museum are amazing & interesting but I did expect more cars from & especially more cars from the the '80s & '90s. Access to the cars for photography is amazing. I couldn't walk all the way around every one but they aren't jammed together too tightly & there are just ropes around the cars so a visitor can get very close to them.
I got there just as the last track tour of the day was starting. They offered to hold it for me, which was very nice, but I didn't have a lot of time before the museum closed as it was. Everyone there was quite friendly. I didn't engage any of the employees but I did see some of them chatting, answering questions & sharing their knowlege with other patrons. There was a room with some interactive exibits but I didn't spend much time there & I don't think everything was available during my visit.
Matt Widhalm
Surely an amazing experience. It took me back 35 years to the first time I remember watching the Indy 500. My family really enjoyed the history and excitement. We can't wait to come back!
Cordero Ortiz
This was a really neat museum to visit. But the real experience was the tour. Our tour guides were both great, very knowledgeable and fun to interact with.
Griffin G
This place is absolutely a must-visit place for motorsport and auto racing fans. Seeing the hundreds of displays of incredible racecars from the early 20th century to today will make anyone develop goosebumps. The staff here were super helpful and kind, and I did not want to leave. The SCCA Runoffs was held here in 2017 and 2021, and the Museum just keeps getting better each time I visit. I could spend all day here, just standing in a room with these legendary machines.
Michael Carr
Not even into Indy racing and this place was cool. Spend the $$ to take the track tour. Very informative. VERY knowledgeable staff!
Laroy Burgess
We did not reservations prior to arrival and were offered the track tour and the museum for $20.00. The museum only has the driving experience as it's hands on exhibit all the rest is just viewing cars from the start if the race to current time. The track tour for us consisted of the road course as they were testing tires on the main track. We did get to view and photograph the "Bricks" up close. The picture I took was a panoramic of the home stretch.
bryan dres
I'm handicapped and in a power chair. The facility is accessible in every possible way. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They even have large golf carts you can drive your chair on and be taken anywhere. The place is clean and very family friendly. A great place to visit!
Jerry Reed
Very nice and informative. Your guides are very knowledgeable. If you love cars this place is a must visit. I thought the gift shop was overpriced (hence the 4 stara) but overall a good experience
Marigrace Bailey
Great museum on the history and present day activities of the Indy 500. Everything was nicely labeled and easy to read. Staff was helpful and informative.
Kevin Keegan
Tremendous museum about the history of Indianapolis Speedway. Many, many cars to view, artifacts and memorabilia. Also, a nice Van guided tour of the Brickyard, not accessible to the General Public. A Must see when in Indy.
sebastian pendas
One of the best places to go in Indiana !! Why ? Because it’s gas , nice People , history and obviously cars😍 !!! The best plan I ever made in USA and locals said if you go in may to the 500 is the best race in the year !! …
Dusan Stojkovic
It was amazing! Make sure to take the bus tour! Me and my son had awesome time.
Amanda Peterson
We decided to do the VIP tour and it was totally worth it! There was something going on at the track that day so we couldn’t go onto the track which is why this isn’t 5 stars, if you pay for the tour to go onto the track it should be part of it or you should be told that ahead of time, we didn’t know until we were already headed out and asked about the track.
Michelle Wolfe
Passing through Indiana we stopped here and it was a great experience even for someone like myself who has never watched a race. Very nice volunteers and you could tell they enjoy conversing with the guests. Chevrolet was testing Corvettes whe we were here so that was neat!
Charles Green
Lots of great racing history which should be on every racing fan’s bucket list! It won’t disappoint!
Steve K. Laskowski
Awesome sports venue! Excellent museum to visit if you like race cars and Indy racing.
Michael Noerr
I'm going complete two-year-old here. This place is awesome. The museum focuses completely on the history of auto racing, not just the Indy 500. The cars, collections, trophies, and everything in this place is amazing. The staff is friendly and really knowledgeable about everything on display. It can take a few hours to get through if you stop to read every placard, but definitely worth it.

This is the best second

Louis MINGUET
A must see for the racing fans !
It’s a really impressive place, with great and passionate staff !
Be careful, it close nearly 5pm
Ashley Gutowski
Great place for a visit and learn about Indy car racing. Neat to see cars from start to current. Get to sit in car. Lots of different tour options from just museum to taking a lap.
Gareth Hancox
Excellent experience in the museum. When in Indy, this is the place to visit. Superb cars on display and really helpful and knowledgeable staff all around the museum. Shame we had to catch a flight!
Jack Nikolson
Fun and interesting experience for the whole family. Be sure to make time to see everything, we only got to scratch the surface. We'll be back fo re the rest!
Charles Scanlon
Took a quick day trip with my son.. Not disappointed.. Everyone that works there is nice,we had a great time..
adrienne a
The museum, the tour, the experience, and the view!
Pleasantly surprised by the total environment of this place. Everyone was friendly, encouraged interaction, answered all questions any of us had. Definitely going back!
Trey Felton
Did the behind the scenes tour, thoroughly enjoyed it. The guides were very good and the experience was well with the $30
Lorna Cole
Very awesome museum. Take time and book a guided tour, it's amazing.
Raul Huerta
If you ever stop by Indianapolis this is a must location to visit. Indianapolis race history is containment within these walls also do not forget to buy the kiss the bricks package this Way you can experience on first hand of what is left of the original brickyard .
Andres E. Hierrezuelo
Historic Old Indy Car Racing Museum, you can visit it in 30m, then go to the Track Tour, the most impressive
Camille Combs
Great place for memorabilia if you're a fan of Nascar. Got lots of great pics to show my dad. All of the staff was pleasant. They took down the famous quilt 😞 but a nice guide took me back and showed me a picture so at could at least see it. Bless the woman that created it, she is still at it. …
Nancy Palmer
Go visit. Not racing fan but we were impressed. Worth the tour. Very friendly staff.
Adam DeJans
The museum is nice. The "Kiss the Bricks" tour around the track was VERY cool!
Kevin McClure
Museum was fantastic. The tour of the track was really good. Super clean, comfortable bus with great narration. The displays in the museum were immaculately staged. The workers are incredibly polite and knowledgeable. Well worth the admission fee. Plan on 2 hours or more for your visit.
Micholene Marczak
We aren't really race-goers, but we still really enjoyed our visit. There happened to be a few Fararri drivers zipping around the track for practice runs, so we got to watch them as well as walk through the museum. It was great t9 see the history behind this great racetrack.
J
Yeah why we haven't been here before beats me. It was Super fun and super cool!
Katie Jhonson
This place was amazing to see in person, worth the visit.
The heritage and history of this track is unknown to a lot of people, myself included.
The museum of the old racecars is awesome and the staff is super friendly.
If you visit take the long tour, you get to see some cool things people don't normally get to see.
Also they have a really nice gift shop and it is very moderately priced compared to other places I have visited.
Purchased quite a few items, nice selection.
One side note, this facility does NOT take cash.
You have to use a card to make any purchases.
Oh and if you get the chance to do the Indy car race experience, DO IT!
Worth every penny! 👍
Enid Gangler
History of Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Indy cars. See actual race cars. Bus track tour available. Open all year round.
T MILLER
Great Indy racing history at the museum. Recommend the "Behind The Scenes" tour with visits to the Media Center, Winners Circle, Suites, and Gasoline Alley plus other areas - gets you close to the track and guide provides great info.
Hanny Phanny
It was cool to go through the race tracks and see all the racing cars 🏎
Arlene Coates Koritko
Indy car ride experience is awesome! Highly recommend. My husband hasn't stopped smiling.
Danielle Calhoun
On National FFA Convention and the staff at speedway was super nice, Mike was our tour guide and he was Awesome. Thanks again Mike!! Louisiana group Appreciates U!!
Joshua Fager
We took a behind the scenes tour and our guide was super open to answer questions and share all of his knowledge. Super informative and interesting! Now we have added the Indy 500 to our bucket list!
Ray Dehler
Awesome museum, as an F1 and a MotoGP fan I have been wanting to learn more about Indycar. There was a lot about F1 and MotoGP crossover drivers and races at the IMS. I am definitely going to be watching the next Indycar season, new fan for sure!
Sam Baker
Staff is very friendly and probably the best part. The cars were cool but very poorly described on the signs. Give me all the technical info. I know someone there at the museum knows it. The car you can sit in is cool but I wish it had a real seat and steering wheel not just a piece of wood. I understand the idea of a basement tour but I think $150/person is a little ridiculous.
Steve Bagnato (nissanlord)
This place is awesome. We took a 2 hour tour, visited the museum and gift store. So much history here. Really cool place!
Mark Ultz
The history is so amazing! You have to experience it every time you visit because things change inside. Take the tour if you get a chance. 🏎️🏁 …
Emrick Ong
Take the kiss the bricks tour, and try the simulator in the museum! The museum basically has almost every winning race cars that participated the indy 500. Every staff is very knowledgeable and willing to answer questions. Great experience!
Will Stein
What a great place to visit. A huge facility! Did the 2 hour tour in a golf cart but since it was raining, just two of us with guide in a mini bus. Great tour! Did one complete lap, toured the whole facility. A great experience. $65 a person. Absolutely loved it!
Sharon G
Interesting tour around the track. Not as many cars as expected.
Ashleigh Kellis-Carr
Stopped in for souvenirs and ended up taking the Kiss the Brick Tour. It was short but informative. We had fun and our tour guide Jason took a bunch of pictures for us.
They had a whole museum and other things to take advantage of but we just did the tour and hit the road.
Praharsh M. Patel
A must go place for all Petrolheads and car enthusiasts.
It gives goosebumps on witnessing the heartthrobing wrooms of the sports card in the track.
They charge $15 for the Museum that takes you down the history and evolution of F1 cars from 1911 to 2021!!
Try a simulator to feel the guzzling sports cars on track.
T-roy Sierra
The tour departed 3 minutes early and I missed it by 30 seconds. The museum is great
Chris Shetler
Lots of Indy cars, simulator was fun, lots of history of racing.
Joy Jemison
Very cool experience even if you aren't a racing fanatic. Make sure you take the trip around the track and go into the museum as they complement one another. Interesting to hear the history of the track from after WWII to present day.
Terie Dohrman
Went to the museum and took the Kiss the Bricks tour. Fantastic time. The place was swarming with teenagers during FFA week, but we enjoyed seeing them learn and have fun. I would highly recommend taking at least one of the offered tours. Make your reservations in advance on their website.
B
There's not enough room here to say all the awesome things about our tour! Tim was our guide and he's what made our experience absolutely the best. He knew so much history and also current news. He also offered his photography to my friend and I and we got the best photos and videos ever! They will be keepsakes. I've lived here my whole life and I have personal family history at the speedway but this was my first time to take a friend on the tour and boy did it make an impact! We went right to the admin and got race tickets for 2023! Thanks so much for making our experience so memorable!
Bill
What a great experience for our family of race lovers. The museum immerses you in the cars and history. Our grandson was amazed and ready to hit the track.
Ben and Cara Adelmann
Took the tour and the buildings museum. Beware that some tours are unavailable if the track is being used by anyone. We arrived 7 minutes before the last tour and barely had enough time for everything!! Phew!
Good stuff! Thanks Debbie for the great tour and historical insights!
Randy Sparre
Amazing experience, definitely recommend the guided tour!
Whohas Mylogin
This is a must stop for any race fan. It is an amazing piece of history with a great collection of cars videos and experiences. It is open during the winter so if you have time to visit you should definitely do so!
ku4uv
I visited on a Friday afternoon. I spent a few hours at the museum. I had never been to the track before, and one day in the near future I plan on attending an Indianapolis 500 race. If you are a race fan, you HAVE to visit this museum! It was so cool to be able to stand that close to cars that have made racing history. I was a little bummed that they didn't have any of the Johnny Rutherford cars that won the 500, as he is one of my favorite drivers. Maybe they were on loan or something, I didn't ask about them. The film about the history of the Indianapolis 500 that had some of the former drivers and race winners was really cool to see. I am planning on going back in the fall and doing the VIP tour. Be sure you check the museum web page for tour dates, as they don't give the VIP tour every day. The day I was there, there were actually cars out on the track zooming around. I will most certainly be going back to this museum!
Bill Dodson
We had the pleasure of going on the 90 minute golf cart tour with Mr Kevin Clark. Kevin is very informative and loves what he does. Couldn’t have asked for a better tour and tour guide. A job very well done.
Brent Koenig
If you're a car guy and a race guy you'll probably love it, not a lot of interactive stuff, mainly just cars. It was cool to walk around and it's located in the i field of the track so we ended up seeing some cars racing/practicing. That was the coolest part
Swapnil Bodele
It was a great experience to learn the history of Indycars and the races held there. They have done a good job explaining the timeline of the race history.
Frank Cannon
I have been waiting to visit the Indianapolis Motor Speedway since I was a kid. Yes, the basement tour is $150. But, seeing ENGINES and so MANY historic racing cars was amazing. Daimler Benz horseless carriages from the 1800's. A GT40 and Ferrari. Bugatti, Cord, Mercedes, more cars than I can name and enough history to stagger the mind. If you love cars you will find the Basement tour FASCINATING and well worth the money. Thanks again to Bernie, my tour guide. VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE!
Ryan Tapia
So much racing history! Exhibits are really cool and educational. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Not a huge race fan but visiting this place makes me want to go to next year’s Indy 500!
Gerard Stahl
I have wanted to see this since I was a boy. Great experience!
Krutika Simon
My husband is a Indy 500 fanatic and taking a trip to this museum was long overdue. The museum itself is fantastic, with lots of history, and a display of many of the previous winning cars. We enjoyed the timeline display with significant moments throughout the history of the IMS. Deducted one star because the museum itself is not very big and we expected a bit more considering the amount they charge for tickets and the spectacle that it is. Overall a great experience!
Charles Dotson
The museum is amazing in racing history. Really enjoyed the experience
Daniela Quiroz
Beautiful racing cars and lots of history.
Terry North
Awesome place to be. Museum was great all old car up to present time. Tour was awesome and speakers were great talk all about history of the track.
Ashley Murray
Had so much fun. Got to take a tour of the track by bus and got to even get out at the finish line. Best part $50 for me and my husband with access to the museum.
Roger Webb
Great museum of the indy winning cars. Cool to see their progression thru time. The "Kiss the bricks" tour was well worth the $10. Fun time on the track and very informative.
Tammy Roberts
My visit was short as we arrived late in afternoon. I enjoyed the museum, however; they dont accept cash in gift shop. That was disappointing.
Robert
The cars on display are awsome. I do wish they wouldn't cram all those cars in the main room. I wish they would kind of seperate them and tell more of the story about the cars (pictures, and video if available). Vey interesting. Great place absolutely loved it.
Nick Nolan
A must see for race fans and car enthusiasts alike. Try to beat my time on the simulators, see the amazing car collection of replicas and race worthy cars and view the various awards that make indycar so special. 10/10
Amanda Holmes
My dad was a photographer. I found some pictures he took back in the 80's so I donated them to the museum. This place is so awesome especially if you are a race car lover
john hill
The Speedway Museum is a treasure. The history and love of the Speedway is abundant. Have been there many times and every time is a new experience.
Paulo Bueno
It was an amazing experience. I could go to a Porsche race.
Clayton Eckert (Clay-Vibes)
Very interesting history and fun helpful guides
jason sierakowski
Great experience! The tour is $20 a person, free for the kids under 5 years old. Gift shop is awesome with tons of indianapolis souvenirs. The museum was awesome. Tons of cars, actual winer cars! Coolest was the 1911 winning car! Great family and racing lover experience! Gave a 4 of 5 just because of the price for admission....plan on spending about $100-200 for a trip.
Ruben Sanmiguel
The museum is bright, roomy and affordable. All our racing heroes are featured on the wall of victory. All aspects of the speedway history are displayed. On certain days you can tour the entire track in a van. The gift shop is pricey but fully stocked with many unique items. Fun for all. Don't miss it.
Gidget Dietz Beck
QdAn amazing experience... the museum is chock full of interesting items, memorabilia, and facts. Totally worth the ticket just to experience this museum!
The race must be a sight as well. Only saw the qualifying on Sunday but was fun as well, 230+ mph...that's fast! To think the first winner avg speed was 74mph. We have come a long way baby!
Richard McClelland
The museum was great. The staff members were extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. There exhibits on display represented the history of the race really well. I liked the garage exhibit, I just wish it didn't feel so hidden. I would have liked to see more on the technology built into the cars and how its has evolved over the years. I also feel that they should involve the race enthusiast more with a better simulator setup and make it more competitive by having the ability to race against multiple people. Needs a pit lane exhibit; the under sung hero's of racing. Deffinitly take the bus tour of the track and take the opportunity to kiss the bricks. If you've never been able to step on a world renowned race track, it's a really great experience that will give you some perspective.
Edward “Ed” Nead
I enjoyed the history of it all, the story of the Indy 500 seeing the cars and the winners from those races was really cool.
John Doty
Wow! Best racing museum I have ever visited. Awesome collection of historic Indy cars and memorabilia. Their sprint car display is awesome as well. If you are a racing fan, you owe it to yourself to visit! Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The entry fee was well worth the price.
John Cordell
We got the "Kiss the Bricks" tour with museum access and it was totally worth it. The museum itself is a historical panorama of race cars, drivers, and background about the the speedway. They also have a rotating display that included sprint cars when we were there.
As cool as the museum was, riding around the 2.5 mile track (even at 30 MPH) was tremendous. Stopping at the start/finish line to stand on or even to kiss the Bricks was awesome. If you are in Indianapolis, this is a must-see attraction.
Michael Fortenberry
Absolutely an amazing museum that shows all the contributions that car builders and drivers have made to this awesome speedway over the last century plus. A must stop for anyone that enjoys international motorsports and is interesting in learning more history about this wonderful place. Highly recommended to anyone passing through.
Danielle Parr
Absolutely amazing. Seriously. I think my expectations were kind of low, honestly. We aren't a huge racing family or big into the sport, just casual observers when it's on.
The staff were all incredibly friendly. Pay the little extra for the tour around the track, it's worth the experience. Very surreal!
So many cool artifacts and cars from the past races. The little movie they play is also pretty neat if you have the 15-20 mins to spare.
My kids loved it, my husband loved it, I loved it. Go! You won't be disappointed.
elo oleP
Muzeum has a lot of historic cars. This place is very unique, one of the must see in the entire USA. On top of that you could take a bus trip and visit the track. There is short breake at the end of the track so you could take a few pictures. I want to come back to see the race there.
Dan Wilding
This was a really fun so on a long road trip. Dozens and dozens of fabulous historical race cars. All cars on display are Indy 500 winners, as well as other significant race winning cars. Deeper into the displays the are race engines on display. If you get a chance, try the Indy 500 simulator.... wow, that wad fun!
Kevin
Recommend doing the bus lap- tour guides are knowledgeable. Great exhibits with lots of classic and modern cars. Even if you have no experience with the Indy 500 it's still interesting. You can take a picture in one of the cars. This museum is also part of the Bank of America program so check if you can get free admission as a cardholder (usually the first weekend of the month).
Alicia Campbell
Very cool! Plenty to look at and so much history. Didnt get there early enough to take the tour but I would have loved to! I'm not a racecar fan but I still enjoyed this museum.
Ernie Woods
Such a cool place to visit! Was lucky enough to attend a couple of the 500's but was easier to get around today.. not enough time to check out much, but worth the trip if you're in the area. Friendly staff! Enter gate 2...
Jimmy Mollet
Very cool, I'm not even a racing fan but this is a must visit spot in Indianapolis.
Curtis Nelson
The only thing about Indy that I found slightly underwhelming. The cars and exhibits were fantastic but the fluorescent lighting and drop ceilings sucked but are easy and cheap fixes.
Don't let that stop you from going.
I'm just spoiled by the Museum of Flight here in Seattle. The IMS Museum is steeped in history and worth every penny of the $15.
Max Jolley
Great short tour of Indianapolis Speedway. If you are a racecar fan, you have to visit.
Greg Catcott
I have been a casual Indy fan since I was a child...so cool to be there even though no racing was happening. I recommend the VIP Tour at $30 with guide Craig. It was a hoot and well worth the time and money.
Dawn T
Very nice museum. We did the self-guided tour, which was nice. All of the employees were super nice. I would like to return and do a guided tour. They had many different options for tours.
Stephen Johnson
There is a vibe in the place!
100+ years of history, loved my visit last year in October.
The workmanship in the older cars is amazing.
A highlight of our trip in the US.
Kathleen Annel Cooper
They have cool old race cars outside the museum. Inside there are a couple of merchandise stores but we didn't enter as entrance fee is $10 per person which is kinda expensive. Anyway there is a Titus cafe outside (still in the building) where you can get coffee and another merchandise/souvenir store where you can buy shirts and caps at less expensive price. We got a shirt for our nephew for only $8 and a cap for $18.
Jason McMyler
Fan any race fan this experience is amazing. Indianapolis Motor Speedway is steeped in tradition and history. A bucket list experience would to come here during the 500.
Stephen Hailey
First off, we are not race fans. We were killing time and thought we would stop in. This was really cool. Got to see old Indy cars all the way to the new ones. The i formation was fascinating and got to go down on the track as well as drive a simulator. It was a lot of fun and i can see how a race fan would be in love. The Mario Andretti exhibit was there...dude was good.
Christine H
An unexpected bonus thst admission was FREE in honor of MLK today. Quite a walk down the history of the track and Indy car. The simulator and selfie car were added bonuses. Worth the visit.
Mahmoud Abdel-Rahman
Very nice collection of racing cars 🏁 🏎
It is suitable for family members of all ages 😍
Highly recommended 👍
Sai Kamalnath Chitirala
It's a must visit place for petrol heads and those who love the Indy 500 races, and to get a feel of the legendary race track. The museum was good too with the vintage and current race cars. Would recommend visit as it is one of the top 3 race tracks in the world.
george spees
Very cool place if you are a race fan, great historical displays
Nathan A
I'm not really into racing but the visit was pretty cool!
Riley
Came here during a short weekend trip to Indianapolis and i do not regret it one bit, the cars are all beautiful and well cared for, and with it being in the middle of the track you get some awesome views when in the inside of the building. All of the cars have their own sign to give you information about them, and the walls are covered in memorabilia and other cool items. The staff were friendly, and the entire building was quiet, which was nice. There's a small simulator setup in the back, for $5 you get 3 laps of Indianapolis Motor Speedway inside a Forza game, in an Indycar. Going through all of the history of the track is an incredible experience that i recommend any racing fan to come see if they have the chance.
D. Majesty
It was an amazing experience just being in the stadium that usually holds 250,000 fans and take pictures where the champions stand with their trophy, That was nice.. our tour guide Rick, he was the best. He's got an amazing memory..
The entire staff was very awesome 👍👍
Stephanie Kelly
We are a family with young kids, and it was the perfect vacation stop! We took the tram tour onto the track and got to stand on the finish line. The tour guides were great and helpful with taking family photos. We also all had a chance to sit in an indy car!
Terry Harroun
For an Indy fan, this museum is the epitome of all museums. They have almost all of the winning cars from every 500 on display.
Guus de Koster
Nice heritage collection of racecars.
Hellcast Radio
The tour that took us around the track was cool. Kissing the bricks at the Brickyard was epic. The museum was very cool but smaller than we anticipated.
Mark Johnson
Had a great time watching qualifying! The facility is clean and well maintained.
Neam Zalzala
Great 2hr experience!! I've only heard of Indy500 but this really educated me of a national/international cultural icon!
Katherine Roberts
Prices can be aweful for food, yet you can bring your own. Bathrooms- as you would expect, disorganized staff and method of operations at times. However there is plenty of good times to be had here. And it only gets messy after an event of course, it's well maintained otherwise. Expect rowdiness to stay outside the grandstands, security is visible and perhaps not always actively paying attention, easy to get their help when need be.
Nick Archacki
What else is there to say about this place? State of the art and worth the money to visit. All the history of the Indy 500 and IndyCar is here. I came here in 2016 when they had the Tony Stewart theme, it was really cool to see his career in dirt, Nascar and IndyCar. The staff is so kind and accommodating with so much knowledge of racing. Having the track less than 4 miles from my college is so cool!
Jordana Bolanos
Pricey, great collection If you are a fan! Didn't make it on time for the tour around the racetrack but enjoy looking around the museum. Nice experience for the kids.
Matt Cussen
This is an incredible museum for fans of IndyCar racing and racing history in general.
Phil Lambert
Super cool place! If you are in from out of town or even a local resident, this place is a must see. You never know what or who you will see here. Open year round. Good place to go outside of races
Monica Heiserman
Awesome experience!!!! The education and going around the track is fantastic!! Always exciting!
Rob
This place is cool even if you are not a racing fan.seeing the evolution of cars throughout the years and reading about the history of racing as well as IMS is just an incredible experience
池端大輔
When you enter the museum, you can feel how this race track is legendary. You can see the "borg warner trophy", and many winning-car of Indy500 race!
And they have seasonal theme exhibit, so you will enjoy it. When I visit there, "the pace-car Chevrolet Camaro" special exhibit was held, there were many pace-car camaros. That was very good.
And, you will see many engines (from past to now), and will see memorable goods of racing held in Indianapolis Motor Speedway, just like Formula One. You can see Michael Schumacher's helmet.
You can learn the history of motor racing at this museum!
Don't miss the museum shop! There are so many goods and some goods are discounted!
Viviana Tabares
Did the tram on the track! Great experience.
Keith Studly
Took the "Kiss the Bricks" tour which is extra but if you haven't been there before you should pay for the experience. Museum admission is included.
J.T. Nicholson
We are museum members. You should join. Went to opening of new exhibit: Sleek - helmets. Met the artists. Saw the exhibit. Cool racing experience. Merges racing, art and history.
Dee Jay Hartley
Really enjoyed the VIP Grounds Tour....lots of great sights with accompanying history relayed by the guide!
Jason Gropp
My 6yr old twins enjoyed it although there wasn't much for them to do other than view the cars. This is a great museum if you're a fan of the 500 race. There's a good variety of cars to view.
James Stewart Jr
Good stuff for the race fan, big gift shop, clothing and other fun race stuff, staff was great, lots of site knowledge, as well as tips on local places to eat for the out of state folks..
Jennifer Von Busch
Awesome tour! We did the "kiss the bricks tour!" So happy we did!!
Kristy Kitchen
Everyone was great. All the employees are awesome. They made us feel welcome and safe. They let my pups come along on the tour. 🤩❤️🏎️🏁 …
Gretchen Brown
We went on the golf cart tour and it was well worth it! Mike, our guide, did a fantastic job showing us around and answering all our questions. We are so glad we were able to do it.
Vladislav Kutin
very interesting stuff, excellent tour only for $25, staff knows everything about history of races
Family VanderLinde
Well worth the extra money to spend on the "kiss the brick tour" awesome place to visit to see some racing history. You can even sit in a couple of the cars.
Colin Barfoot (Colin59)
Great display of actual winning race cars and a special display of the Unser family contribution to Indy history. I was there on a day when track access wasn't available but it would be a recommended experience when at the museum.
Mat Larson
One of the best collections of race cars in the world. They even have a few stock cars including Petty's car from his last season.
Jason Hodge
Very pleasant establishment! I would recommend anyone and everyone here...
Rebecca Newburn
Loved this place!! A dream come true!! The museum staff were friendly and very knowledgeable on all things Indy!! Make sure you take a trip around the track!!
Connie Ralston
Nice museum. Worth the time. Liked the tour. Very informative!
Monika Bardell
Awesome place, interesting , with benches, clean, nice people.
Ethan Crowell
For a required field trip for the Lakota East Marching Band (from Ohio), it wasn't the most interesting experience, but the track is laced with bits of history. The collection is essentially separate from the racetrack, and all of the funds from the gift shop go to the museum itself.
Red Allen Diesel
Super cool place to visit! The kiss the bricks tour is a must!! The gift shop had tons of great bargains on merchandise!
Traci Sullivan
The .museum itself was small but nice. We were surprised there was hardly and NASCAR memorabilia in the museum or gift shop. We recommend the VIP bus tour, an excellent experience making the trip worth the stop.
Bill Compton
Took the $25 tour that includes the museum and a shuttle ride to visit the pagoda building. Great tour guides and amazing seeing the old cars!
Rickardo Yoder
Loved the speedway! It was my first Indy 500 and it was amazing!
The staff were really kind overall.
But parking sucks
Jason Grider
Lot of great history and people to help bring it to life. Well worth the trip
David Sheffield
Depending on how much of a race fan you are will determine how long you stay. But it is neat. If nothing else you get to drive in side the track for the museum, so even if you dont take one of the tours you feel like you are there. But take a tour. I am not much of a race fan but being able to be on the track and see upclose is something.
staticbird11
We arrived at 450pm and were told by an employee that the museum was closed already. The kids didn't care. They were just thrilled to be there. Plenty of things to look at outside of the museum!
Rhonda Tallon
Take the tour so you can see the raceway up close and personal.....totally worth it!! We will have to come back and experience a race in person!!!
Aidan Moulder
Went today for the Ferrari challenge, tons of great-looking and great-sounding machines! And all for free. Really cool parade of Ferraris, including some retro ones. If I could attach all my pictures I would.
Sports Center
This museum is incredible! Many, many, many cars, artifacts and other things to see!!!!!
Douglas Powell
it was good to visit. what is disappointing is that there are not any current winners on display. owners, it seems, keep them for their own collections Too bad
Mario Marik
Couldn't make it for the race but the visit to the museum as well as the track tour was well worth it. Nice gift shop too!
David Greenlees
If you're even the least bit interested in racing or just a little curious, this is a great place. Lots of racing history. I actually have a piston from the Pennzoil car pictured here. A friend of mine was a master engine builder for the team and presented me with it in a display case he made. It was cool to see the car in "person."
Freedom Of speech
Fabulous people work here.
It was a lot of fun and really enjoyed the stop on our way to great American Sportsman Showin Harrisburg pa.
D. L. Redman
Always a great time with different drivers featured each year. This year was Mario Andretti. Awesome cars and stories.
John Wilcox
This just a review of the museum. Where else in the world can you see the artifacts of one of the most important racing venues in the world. Exactly
Maria Carroll
A great place to kill time before a concert (from Cincinnati). It was affordable and interesting to learn about the history of the Indy cars!
Cassie Salzwedel
My dad and I were life long race fans. After he passed I knew I had to make the pilgrimage down to see the race. Unfortunately I didn't make it to the race since they were calling for rain but I made it down the following day. It was amazing. Loved it! So much to learn and see! Definitely worth the drive!
VENUGOPAL PARAMESWARA
Great experience. They offer motorway tours on fixed schedules. Visit the museum before proceeding for tour. Save money by taking combo tickets
Eric Leski
If you are a race fan or a gearhead this place is for you. Full of history and racing stories. A must see!
John King
Really interesting tour of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as well as a nice museum of classic Indy cars.
Andrew Wiley
This place is awesome! A must go for race fans or car fans!
Mike Moore
Recommend taking the bus tour around the track.Great exhibits, had the 1911 winner alongside the 2011 winner. Lots of good looking cars in a well lit, well organized space. Would have given 5 stars except the gift shop prices were outrageous.
Rexton K.
I go here alot, and I always have a good time. Very cool selection of cars out, this is a must if your a race fan. They also have an amazing gift shop with plenty of diecast and t shirts.
Christopher DeCurtins
Thank you to my tour guide Kevin for bringing so much excitement to his tour!
Jennie Hehe
Throughout the summer and fall, in the parking lot next to the museum, they also have Cars and Coffee! So, you can walk around with a cup of coffee while browsing the cars and talking to their owners. Then, you can head into the museum! It’s great!
Jessica Jackson
Well worth the trip! Kids 6 and under are free. Expect to spend 1.5-2 hrs here.
stacy barlow
First time here, but for someone who isn't used to this kind of stuff, I've got to day it was amazing. Just have to see it for yourself kind of experience.
Max Olack
Lots of history and people in the know jumping to answer your questions. Informative and easily able to digest what information they have to learn from here.
*you can know nothing about cars and come here to still have a good time.
Craig Hartman
Not a particularly well-organized exhibition nor very entertaining. Given the wealth of historic Cinematographic film that exists, one would think there would be at least one well-produced film with good audio. Also, the visitor demographic skews to elderly, but there are no places to sit in the exhibition area. Only a few benches in the central space with nothing to see. The cars are great, but otherwise a disappointing experience.
Neal Kern
Fun place to visit, quite a few amazing cars that were winners of the Indianapolis 500, including the first to win in 1911.
Otto “Jay” Lehrbach
A must visit place for any racing enthusiast. Features a Granatelli and a Mears exhibit
chris baker
Toured the iconic track, kissed the bricks. Seeing all the winning cars in the museum was wonderful. Brought back memories of being at the track in 1969 for Indy 500
Marijana TheQueen
Historical place, nice for lovers of cars!
Taylor Ness
A phenomenal little museum with Indy 500 winning cars dating back to the very first running in 1911. Best to come when it's not Indy 500 weekend - if you're in town for the race I can highly recommend the day after, or Thursday.
Lynn Lent
Awesome. took the deluxe private golf tour well worth it. had a ball.
mary pearce
Thank you to Carol at the gift shop. She was amazing.. so above and beyond helpful...
No wait when we went... but we got there very early on a race weekend. As we left the line was very long and I'd guess the wait was likely about 20 to 30 mins. Just an FYI
Laura Morgan
Surprisingly interesting. I would recommend paying the extra to take the bus lap around the racetrack. There is a taped narration as well as a live guide and a bus driver. Both men were very friendly and helpful. Their insights were added to the taped information. You get to stop at the start/finish line for photo opportunities. Inside the museum there were interactive sites, 2 vehicles you could sit in and 3 virtual driving video machines. When we were there only 1 was working but everyone enjoyed the experience. There is also a movie and of course, a gift shop.
Les Buchholz
Got to check this place out if you love racing. So much history at this track.
Mark Reid
The IMS Museum is the "holy grail" for automobile racing history. The staff is awesome! Maybe pull out a stock car or two for NASCAR's next visit...?
Joe Proctor
The greatest racing facility on the planet with Roger Penske at the helm. The museum is a walk back in time with machines driven by some of the legends of the sport. Attending he Indy 500 is a bucket list item.
Russ Rybolt
Fascinating stop for few hours of discovery. Very reasonable entry fee and helpful friendly staff. Thanks for a pleasant visit!
nater 1
Great experience and the people who work there were awesome!
Brooke Nichols
Love Indy!! Always an amazing place!! Just wish we could have seen the whole track! (Cars practicing, testing, etc would be cherry on top!!)
Michael Stone
Speedway is enormous. Get there early and take the tour.
Nan Algieo
An awesome racing Museum with IMS at it's heart. Highly recommend getting the basement tour!!
Nadya Shestakov
It was very informative for me. I dont know much about cars, but I was still able to understand a lot of it and I came out with a lot of cool facts!
Dan C
Nice museum if you in to cars
Michael Schwartz
Excellent museum with track tours and many race winning cars.
Wyatt Arvin
The home of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing! A bucket list place to visit and event to attend! It's the largest single day sporting event in the world! So much history and pageantry! I love it!
Seth Kleinglass
Definitely a museum worth visiting if you are a car person. The history and the stories of the what has happened here are incredible.
Edward K
It’s the Greatest Spectacle In Racing. 2020 improvements to the infrastructure by Roger Penske have paid off nicely. Better bathrooms and more fan friendly confines. Bring on MAY!
jared davis
Saw a person lose control in a Corvette but they saved it probably cost him a set of tires but you didn't wreak the car who ever you are... Thanks for the show and great driving!
LAWRENCE HANSEN (hansenontheroad)
An incredible museum and the VIP tour is a must. Gets you on the track and lots of behind the scenes.
Callie
Very informative. I suggest watching the short movie. Very cool cars.
James Carroll
Outstanding museum. Really check the site for tours.
G Santana
Nice speedway with great museum and youth can see a lot of cars inside the museum and the story behind it.
Jim Kelley
Fantastic display of cars over the years that have won the Indy 500 along with biographies and stories of the drivers who drove them. Well worth the price of admission
Gansito Petersen
The kiss the bricks tour is the best $20 you'll spend for racing or history fans. This place is wonderful.
Sarah Lunn
We did a VIP golf cart tour for our engagement pictures and Mike was the absolute best! He helped us get to all of the spots we wanted pictures in while also providing the tour, helping us achieve both in the allotted time for the tour! The staff was also beyond helpful planning and replanning this with us. We had to change dates several times due to on track activities and weather issues, but we finally got it all done!
Daniel Devadatta
I was like a kid in a candy shop. Toured the museum and took the kiss the brick bus tour on the track. The track is narrower than I imagined. Fantastic. And thus Sunday I go to the Indy 500. On my bucket list for decades.
Alfredo Perez
Loved this place. Very informative tour. Very nice museum. Very cool gift shop.
Vidar Liverød
Good service and knowledgeable tour guides. Amazing place. For sure worth the visit
Matt Kisker
Really cool place . We have been wanting to check it out for awhile now. We were not disappointed. Also definitely go for the bus ride around the track. Worth it to stand on the front stretch at the brickyard
Ed W (Hurricane Ed)
The museum was one of the highlights of our month highly recommend well worth the $25.
Alison
Large space with a lot of cars that held my kids attention for over an hour. The men working were very friendly and helpful in getting us to the most interesting spaces.
Todd Olejniczak
Went to get warm during practice and qualifying for the Grand Prix and thoroughly enjoyed the Mario Andretti exhibits. Well worth the $10 entry fee. Lots to see and read including a nicely done 8 minute movie covering the history of the speedway.
Laurie Carder
IMS is amazing. I go to multiple races there a year and also go to the museum several times a year. It is very clean and the staff are very nice and helpful. If you are ever in Indy and need something to do, I highly recommend the museum and the Kiss the Bricks tour.
keshav Prasad
The museum is a treat to racing lovers. It has a detailed account of indy racing history. The racing sim and the real indy cars are the best features imo. Must visit.
The Punisher
Amazing time and the brick tour was fun. Lots of great history and place is big. The only down side is to see the Ford GT and Ferrari you need to pay an additional $150 for each person to see the special car collection in the basement. The regular tour is $15 or $25 for the I side tour and the brick track tour.
Rick Fowler
The most amazing museum for open wheel racing history! Always something new to see and learn about!
John Phillips
What a great experience. Staff is very knowledgeable and pleasant to talk with. My family had an awsome time.
Dara Buchy
Super track tour of the bricks followed by visitkng the outstanding history of racing!
Dana R
Did the mystery and kiss the bricks your... Worth the money for both
Joseph Cazier
World Class. A massive venue. Hope to be back on Race Day. Very courteous staff.
Paula Felt
Fantastic place to visit!!! Glad we made the time to go while here in Indy.
Matt Gause
I absolutely love this place.....the men, the cars, the history, and well laid out.....what a beautiful way to spend the day
Supun P
Ticket is priced at $20 Kiss the brick. Check the calendar before you go. On certain days some of the tours are not available. The guides are really nice. Giving a 4start is because I think this tour is worth around $15. This is my opinion.
Chuck Fennell
Very disappointed because we could not ride around the track.... Did go in the pagoda & stood in the winner's circle.
Curtis Stoltz
Awesome experience and great venue including tours and interactive activities and photos
Tom Boman
Fun look at the past and present Indycars! Don't forget to kiss the bricks!
Robert Balagyan
Great place. Great history.
jerry stephens
Had a fun afternoon. Saw a race in progress and visited the museum.
Dougie Fresh “Dougie Fresh”
Staff super friendly! The whole staff and museum experience is amazing for any race fan... you can even go out in a little bus and do a lap at certain times
Wirayen Albert
Amazing Experience. History written all over the place. Friendly and welcoming people.
Krissy Sanders
Was pretty cool to walk around the museum. It cost $10 for adults and my year old was free. Plenty of interesting facts.
Karl “Dolittle”
If you're into history of the Indianapolis 500 you have to spend time visiting this museum. It seems like everybody you talk there is into the Indy, they all know great details about this historical race. In the museum has some of the most exotic classic Indy cars that have ever been run. A must see when you're visiting Indianapolis.
Maureen Henry
We stopped here because there was a detour. Our son races go karts and he loves everything about cars.
It was okay.
I think the price of admission for the museum was excessive. We were in and out in like 20 minutes So for a family of five spending what we spent seemed too high.
The grounds are beautiful and it was really cool to be at the infield and see how much is involved but unless you're a die-hard race/car person it might not be worth it.
Jeff Castle
Went for the vintage race, great way to explore the facility. Pretty much unrestricted access to everything except track/pits. All the staff were super friendly and helpful.
Janette
Very nice!! We'd wanted to do the guided tour on the track there were were different cars on the track which was fun to watch anyway!
Johnny 2373 (Johnny2373)
I come in here everytime to see whats new. Great store. Aside of Daytona, this is world class store!
Ryan Gamber
Could be expanded and updated a bit, but always a good experience. Staff in museum always able to answer questions.
Lars Pridat
Great experimente and a must to go for All rate Fans.

All personnel friendly and helpfull and they can answer all questions.

Milana OHair
What a wonderful experience. The tour included a lap around the racetrack. The exhits were well documented. The video game allowing you to drive 4 laps on the racetrack was fabulous.
Jim Case
Wow! Amazing museum, a lot of history and legends here. 👍 😎 …
al rogers
An awesome place, full of amazing examples of ingenuity. Not ridiculous expensive either.
David Goodale
My first Indy 500 at 73 years of age. Great experience! No where else in the world can you watch people racing at speeds over 200 miles a hour!
Dennis Fex
Loved the tour of the track. Lots of racing history to see in the museum.
Mark Edward
So much fun it's unbelievable !!
Matthew Woods
I was very thankful to have the opportunity to visit the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum over the weekend and it was absolutely wonderful! I was shocked at how not crowded it was. All of the staff were wonderful the displays are magnificent and informative. There is even a couple places for kids to enjoy themselves! We spent two hours there as a family of four and it was a great time. There is an admission fee, but it is totally manageable compared to other places around. Great experience and a great day!
Joshua Smith
Visited the museum and did the track tour. The tour guides were very helpful, courteous, and considerate. Tour includes a bus drive on the 2.5 mile track and a stop for pictures at the starting line and a chance to "kiss the bricks." Museum includes a lot of great championship Indy cars. Gift shop was very nice. If you are more of a NASCAR fan, you will still appreciate the racing education experience but be advised that the museum does not hold any Brickyard 400 NASCAR cup cars, only Indy 500. I would think IMS would consider this a missed opportunity to capture a very important part of their history.
DadandMomRule
Jason was an incredible guide. Golf cart tour is the best way to go. I wanted to kiss the brick but my knees are bad so if I ever get a chance to go again I will bring a pad to kneel on.
Nelson B
It's a great place to visit especially if you're an automotive enthusiast.
Kaitlyn Danielle
Very fun! We went on a tour of the track and got to pose at the finish line.
Arthur Zepeda
A must see if in the area. So much history is here. You will not be disappointed.
Ingmars Birks
Museum is quite small. You will see Indy500 winner cars since 1912 through nowdays. Only cars, nothing else. A place worth visiting for race events, not for the museum.
james finney
Went for bmw track day and owners program. Had a blast.
dan davidson
If your into open wheel racing and want to see the cars that made the Indy 500 what it is this is the place to go. Spectacular displays, interactive things to enjoy and lots of history. All for only $15 (2022).
Amos Hobbs
Was an excellent way to kill some time and stretch our legs on a long trip. Some nifty exhibits to be seen.
Danny Medley
Really fun place ti visit
Frank Sch.
Great Tour behind the scenes! Definitely a place to visit!
Michael Magree
Always a great time, make sure you visit the museum!
G T
I can't wait to go back! We did the behind the scenes tour. It costs an extra $15 but is well worth it.
Jo Anne Curran
Great history and tour through race track. Was sorry other tours weren't available. We would have GLADLY gone on some of them.
Robert Killebrew
We had a great tour at the track, we got to see things there that I will never forget. Our tour guide had answer to all our questions and had pictures and a lot of history to show us. I would recommend that tour to anyone who like racing.
Mark Ralston
Fun place to tour! Museum was great! Took the behind the scenes tour and really liked it. Only thing they need to do is get more sizes of tee shirts in the gift shop! All the had in most shirts was smalls.
Ross Rozeboom
Museum and track tour were great!
Rich Trzyna
Cash or credit card or debit card may be used for payment to enter the museum, however, NO CASH ALLOWED in the gift shop. Sales clerk at the gift shop said cash not allowed because of COVID-19. WERE IS THE LOGIC.
Rochelle
Really nice display and history to learn about from all kinds of car races
virginie gonzalez
If you love the Indy race, this is your place. Great antique cars and friendly staff.
Andrew Hart
Great fun for the family and for all ages.
Sheri Meehan
Found out stuff I never knew, like kissing the bricks. Plus the eagle tower from the SS Indianapolis is their start and finish line
Kenneth Clayton
If your a car racing buff, this is a must visit place. The history of indy cars and racing.
Abdul Shariq
Amazing experience and a good track tour
Jorginho Mattos
Awesome!
Super hospitable, knowledgeable and race passionate staff. They love to talk to us about any of the memorabilia, merchandise, history and all Indycar racing events.
Loved the experience. Will be back again for sure!
Maureen Gray
We loved it! The staff is very friendly and the cars are gorgeous. We took our kids ages 7 and 9 and we spent about an hour and a half looking around. The bus tour is really fun too but it was closed today (there was a race today).
Fred Perkins
Enjoyed the visit. I just hope like hell that the IMS does not cave in buy in to the political scam that is the 'carbon' scare, climate scare BS. If the IMS we're to declare entry of electric cars , much less, combustion engine cars out electric only, my response would be go to hell. There is abundant proof that this climate change scam is the real fake science. One thing that is absolute truth is that Brandon is a puppet.
Larry Huerta
Excellent place! Great people... 100% Recomended!!!

Longtime fan of open wheel racing. Enjoyed seeing the marmon wasp again. Showed the kids where the crank was inserted, explained venturi tunnels, and old vs new suspension. But half the place is closed while they're still charging full price for admission. They don't have a current indycar on display at all. I lingered through the historical Indy 500 winning cars, gave the trophy a close look, took pictures of my kids in an old, old Lola, and took a turn in the simulator. It's something to visit IMS, and to see what they deem their fans worthy of.
Chris Goodwin
Museum is fun for all. Golf cart tour was amazing. Very friendly staff.
Jennifer Wintrode
Great experience! The bus tour is worth the extra 10 bucks. Do it!
Adam Morello
Great museum and great tour!! Make sure to kiss the bricks!
Michael Mengelt
Huge, historical place with alot to see with fair prices
Joseph Lehman
Great time visiting race track. Museum isn't as big as I thought it would be but still worth the stop. Definitely do the tour of the track or it won't be worth it. Pretty expensive $$$ for what you get but overall was satisfied.
Cheryl Allen
What a thrill and fun place to see and shop. New key chain with compliments from the track. At just a few dollars they told me about a November Sale.
Mark P
We did the golf cart tour with Jason as our guide, he was extremely knowlegeable, personable and very entertaining, highly recommend. Tour takes about 1 1/2 hours,
Leonard Williams
Went to the IMS museum today, March 19, 2022. Have twice before, the last time about 15 years ago. To say I was disappointed in the changes is an understatement. The number of cars on display is at least half of what used to be in the upper area that you can see for the general admission price. The two bays on the left as you walk in from the lobby used to be packed full of historic racers, including the Marmon Wasp up through the roadsters and early rear engine cars.
Now it holds less than a dozen cars that are all Pendle. In short, a display of one man's vanity, not the historical collection that it used to be. You have to pay $150.00 to see the majority of the collection and most of the displays that used to be upstairs. Everything else is in the basement.
Truely disappointing.
Luke K
Cool place for people who love indycar
John Mullen
Awesome experience, meticulously maintained facilities, very reasonable pricing for a sports arena.
Charles Ritter
Very easy to update
Daniel Lally
Even if you're not a huge motorsports fan, the history here is fascinating. Some of the best docents at any museum in America. Bonus: you may get to see some test or practice runs on the track as part of your visit.
Robin Drake
Had a great time at the museum and on the tour!!
Lora Carlson
Friendly people great place to visit.
Harry Rybolt
I love going into the museum to see the displays. Always changing so it's never the same. I can bore my wife with stories of cars I've seen win (lol) but she also enjoys the experience. I go every time I'm at the track
Kerry Stevens
Loved this place. The museum was interesting. If you're a race car buff, it would be fascinating. The guided tour of the grounds was excellent. There were cars on the track during our tour so we couldn't get on the track itself. But standing next to the track while they zoomed by was awesome.
Caitlin M
The museum was great, very clean, and everyone was friendly. But I think there could have been more child friendly activities or exhibits.
James Sellner
Awesome experience walking around looking at the history of Indycar racing. Very well put together and well worth the $15 dollars cost of entry. Plus they have a store inside to buy merchandise.
Wayne Whiteside
Our Golf Cart tour of The Indianapolis Motor Speedway was really cool. Our guide Scott was full of knowledge about the track and you could tell he loves this track. Remember to reserve early for your tour, they book up fast. This is a must for any race fan.
Kevin McKamey
Great display of history and vintage race cars

It would be nice if the staff in the gift shops were more engaging. I love that they hire older people, I just wanted my grandchildren to have a better experience, and they never came out from behind the register leaning on the cabinet. It was NOT busy!
My grandchildren had lots of questions, they would have sold more if they were more engaged with the customer.
If I was part of the team and saw a grandparent, I would think cha-ching...and make some sales!
Monica “Mona” Abrell
Cool place to visit especially if you like/watch the Indy 500. They have a vast number of winning cars in display. Bonus was that there were Ferraris testing the track! So fun to see what we could!
Oldskool Pautz
Going to the Speedway. A must to visit the museum; read and see motoring history!! Me a Motorhead!! 😎 …
Ольга Демидова
An interesting museum with very friendly staff
Javier Isern
It is small but you can experience some of the racing history.
Polly Baker
Fabulous collection of cars that ran in the Indy 500 (dating back to 1911), along with artifacts and great descriptions. Experiencing the Borg-Warner trophy feels surprisingly personal -- it's behind a rope (of course), but not behind glass.
The current special exhibit is "Roadsters 2 Records". It highlights cars from 1960 to 1972, and the evolution from front-end to rear engines.
Museum also has a nice gift shop, with hats, shirts, souvenirs, etc, and friendly staff.
Claud Ferguson
Great place to learn the history of the Indy 500.
David Franklin
One could easily spend a day at this place, I was there for over 4 hours and if I hand not had other plans latter in the day I would have stayed longer
Mike L
Absolutely stunning historic museum! The cars, memorabilia, photos, and information were beyond my expectations. Definitely a must see for anyone who loves racing, automobiles, or even simply history itself.

Worth the entrance fee. There is some cool history in there. You can see the evolutionary progression as you walk around. Interesting side exhibits also. Pretty cool place for me.
Dirtzoo International
If you care anything about the Indy 500 or gearhead stuff at any level, you have to come into the museum. It's almost as great as the race itself
Mike Wainwright
It is absolutely amazing! Had s great time and got to kiss the bricks.
tina bailey
Not as many cars on display since Penske bought the track. Still a great museum for anyone interested in race cars.
Mike Rettig
A great museum but It could use a refresh.
The same cars have been on display for years.
The Basement tour looks interesting but $100 for a 30 minute your? Come on guys!!
Radhakrishna Hari
Loved this place. Lots of cool old cars.
L TejadaSanchez
Awesome and mind blowing. Enjoyed seeing classic race cars as well as newer models. Wished we could have taken a ride on one. Tour is separate, but worthwhile. Guide was friendly and knowledgeable about what goes on behind the scenes.
Michelle Coates
Participated in the Kiss the Bricks Tour and it was awesome. The tour is only 30 minutes long but you get to ride the racetrack and hear about the history of it. The museum is beautiful and very informative. Definitely a place you want to take time and check out as a tourist if you ever came to visit the beautiful city.
Anya SV
A really special experience to be able to go out onto the track as part of the tour / museum!

My husband and I loved seeing the speedway and the museum. He's a huge racing fan and even though I don't normally watch it, I greatly enjoyed the museum and I learned a lot. There's something there for everyone to enjoy. We'd love to visit again and do the tram tour of the track!

Radomil Jean-Francois (Mighty Olympian)
Very cool place if you are a fan of racing i highly recommend the virtual.
Nathan Oppie
Fun place to see if you've never been here. My first time and we went on the track and saw the yard of bricks. There is a lot of history here. There was about 300 elementary school kids that showed up on buses so it was a little crowded and hectic but the museum is well laid out. I'd like to come back and see a race here one day.
Jim Blaszyk
This is a must see! I'm not a race car guy. But the history of this museum shouldn't be over looked. That day was my first day in Indianapolis and this is an attraction I chose to take the family to. We all enjoyed the time together and the atmosphere of the museum. I would recommend to a freind!
Grant Dotson
Great museum with excellent exhibits.
Hannah Sabo
Really Greta museum! I'm not a huge fan of Indy car racing but I had a great time there. They had a lot of interesting things to see even for a non-car enthusiasts
Mary Leatherman
I would give more stars, but there aren't any. I am not a big fan of the 500,however after see this place which is amazing I'll start watching. We took the tour and saw the museum. DON'T MISS THIS PLACE!
Tony Carlisle
Great track and am awesome museum of the history of the brickyard!
Carl Edwards
On a recent visit I was extremely impressed with the professionalism of the staff. Safety and service are excellent. The quality of the displays are outstanding. I would highly recommend checking out this local experience if you are in the Indianapolis area. Local and visitors alike.
Aaron Bailey
Great place, I recommend the track bus tour too
Sergey Krupin
I strongly recommend to visit with children
Ashley Baynard
This place was pretty cool! Did a day trip from Ohio! This museum was informative and lots of old time racing cars, the first ones! I think every car that won the indy 500 was there! It was raining really hard the day we went, so no tours of the track, but it's a nice pit stop! Montana Mike's finished our trip, it was so good!!!
Alex Bordeos
It’s fun to visit ❤️
Suzanne D. Rogers
The tour guide who showed us all around was GREAT! He was using a cart and I'm disabled and he made sure I was comfortable wherever we went. Thank you for everything!
Austin Mills
Super cool way to see what the Indy 500 is all about before or after the race weekend.
James Barthelme
Great place to visit
Lenna Wiebe
Daughter, son, and I took the 30 minute tour which was well worth the ticket price. Rode in a tram around the entire track. A young man was our guide. He played an excellent recording (made by a long-time track announcer) that provided a lot of history of the track, its founders, and the many types of races held there. We received an added plus when daughter started a conversation with the tram driver.
We are not especially big racing fans, but we did enjoy seeing all the cars in the museum. It was fun having our family picture taken with son sitting in an Indy car.
robert smith
Awesome experience
Oscar Love
This is the place, forget any other sports venue
Kenneth Engling
Seems as though Roger Penske was trying to get his money back in one year. The prices increased dramatically on everything, I'm a little worried about how the ticket prices will be next...
Mark Frye
This place is awesome! I always go here to get my race stuff before the 500!
Angee Humes
Laid back, cars were Awesome, golf cart tour was well worth it and our guide was soooo informative and funny!
Homeagain Jiggity Jig
This is the museum at the speedway. It is small but reasonably priced and interesting. There's a car you can get in to take a picture and also a place where you can dress like a pit crew member and get your picture made. Luckily we heard they were able to do the track tour just before we left. We enjoyed the tour and the museum. Take it in if you're in the area.
Greg Reed
We had a VIP tour schedule last month. Unfortunately it was during nothing but rain the entire weekend. Since the VIP tour uses golf carts, they had to adjust our tour a little. They also reduced our cost and lengthened our tour a little since we were in the last group. Our guide was not just a guide but a life long fan. We saw much of the sites that you only see from the out on TV. The infrastructure is phenomenal to understand when the world's following one race in many languages, countries and mediums. If you have the chance, go for it.
Vickie Clark
Awesome visit. Had a great time
Jack Frost
What an incredible place to visit and see the automotive history of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for just $10! See the race cars that have made fans cheers for the last century! Marvel at the men and women who made history on the track. I enjoyed the film on the history of this place in the small auditorium. Very well made mini-documentary. Walking around through the various exhibits was amazing: admiring the cars, trophies, photos, posters, and car parts was memorable. I also got to see race cars practicing outside for a weekend race. The gift shops are pretty neat too. Definitely stop for a souvenir. Nice to see lots of families present enjoying the experience together.
Benoit Robillard
Even if not a race fan, impressive collection and lots of history
chris evans
The most amazing weekend ever, all the experience one can enjoy in a lifetime.
Heidi K. Black
Donny's sister was here from South Carolina & others were working so he suggest we go to Indy to the Museum instead of just sitting around. We've never been to the Museum. I enjoyed it very much. Looking at the cars & there is a Pace Car Pool Table. Lots of memorabilia & things on display about the Drivers, Winners & their cars, race suits through the years. Also a view of the bleachers in the distance.. And Gift Shop. Photos are welcomed.
Sharon Lezama
Very interesting. We did the track tour too, you get out at the Brick line and can take pictures. I did think it was expensive. The museum itself is very small.
Tyler Peacock
I recommend anyone and everyone to visit and check out the museum.. The museum is not only very informative but also very clean and organized. Literally, from the gift shop to the racing cars and on to the timelines of various important individuals, I thoroughly enjoyed myself as I became enlightened on who made the Indianapolis Motor Speedway what it is today.. Excellent customer service. 10/10.
Josh Grossman
If you are a gear head or just like auto racing, this is a must to see. Many winning cars in the museum and you can take a bus ride around the track. You get to stop and kiss the bricks! I was here like 10 years ago and they have expanded the museum since then, so new stuff to see! Nice gift shop as well.
Jose Angel Treviño Navarro
It is amazing
Last First
There is so much history! Even if you're not a racing fan (I'm not) it is hard not to get caught up in the history of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I remember my first race and thinking is the museum really necessary? Absolutely! It used to be free but unfortunately that is no longer. It's now $10 but it's worth that.. but what you should really do is add the "Kiss the Bricks" tour as well for $20 (museum admission included) and you get a guided 1-lap tour of the track and weather permitting, you get to stop at the start/finish line for an AWESOME photo opp at the most historically important spot in automotive racing! I cannot recommend this experience enough.
David Bursten
Took relatives there during the Thanksgiving holiday
Joel Grant
Greatest spectacle in motor racing. Pretty much says it all
Raeesa Ossama
