Reviews of Buffalo Soldiers National Museum
Alisa James
We enjoyed visiting the museum. There's an informational video to start and a laid-out map of the entire museum exhibit. The welcome committee, Mr. Larry Coleman, was very attentive and gave clear instructions and directions. We purchased shirts from the gift shop and ended with photos on their backdrop. It was a great experience. So much information about many who have paved the ways for African Americans in the military and their contributions to the wars of this country.

A wonderful slice of American history, that highlights the good, the bad and the ugly. The museum is not just filled with artifacts, but is a living testament to the triumphs of men and women who saw themselves called to a higher purpose in service.
Even though found off-the-beaten-path the museum is easy to get to, with ample parking. Even though a small venue, the staff was very knowledgeable and helpful (without being intrusive) in pointing out what was essential throughout the space.

Great information. We absolutely loved the reenactment in the theater. Then there were organized sections with weapons, uniforms, artwork, videos, etc. We need to go back a few more times to absorb it all!! Glad I bought a year membership. 😁😁 …

I was awestruck by some of the unknown or untaught history of Black American men and women of the US Military! I'm going back for a slow detailed walk through of everything in that museum! It's free on Thursdays 1p-5p! Highly recommend💯 …

Staff was nice. Lots of information to read. I loved how our kids were able to dress up and have fun learning. They front desk was able to give the kids some crayons and paper to keep them busy.

My visit to the Buffalo Soldier Museum was both entertaining and disappointing. The items and the history was very good. The service from the customer service rep was awful. The place was a little beat up but it was understandable because they are renovating and still trying to hire tour guides, which is needed. They had some good artifacts for the different war areas which African Americans were a major art of in this country. The gift shop had some excellent memorabilia which we bought t-shirts. If you are looking for history, I do recommend this museum.
DEBORAH MCKINZIE
The Buffalo Solider Museum was top of my list to visit when planning a long weekend in Houston. It didn't disappoint. Rich of history and culture. I showed my 85 year old Mom pictures of the old iron and stove.
Jeffrey Wacaser
I thought this museum was super interesting. I learned about the Buffalo Soldiers, and thought the displays and artifacts were educational. I found this letter, written by a freed slave to his former master (I shudder even using that phrase) to be INCREDIBLY INTERESTING. I'm inspired to look further into this incredibly smart man's life to see if I can learn more about him. Great museum.
Keisha “Kiki” Smith
Amazing, learned so much from our recent visit. Even had some info on my school's history, when it was the segregated school for blacks on the east side of Austin, TX (Anderson Yellow Jackets, now L.C. Anderson Trojans once integrated). My son was in awe to learn about those black soldiers and got a little more understanding of what it was like when our grandfather's fought in the military. Even more grateful to learn about the women's role, especially during National Women's History Month.
Lord Nitram
A must visit. You learn so much about the African American struggle in the armed services.
Andrew Lasner
Very interesting museum. Loved learning about the Buffalo Soldiers long and distinguished history.
Thomas Beard
The Buffalo soldiers museum is completely amazing. Many years ago this building was the Houston light guard armory. I am in the light guard veterans association and the Buffalo soldiers make it possible for us to continue we hold our reunions there and I consider them my brothers and sisters
Deb Heen
Great museum of historical participation of the Black soldiers in the service of free America.

The history. The information. The..... Man everything about the museum is something you just have to check out for yourself in your lifetime. I thought I knew a good amount of information about the buffalo soldiers but come to find out I didn't even scratch the surface. This place covers everything about these great heroic men and one women. Yes there is a woman ms William she wanted to join the military to help fight but couldn't because at that time women wasn't allowed in the service so she pretended to be a man and joined the military. The only way they found out was because she fallen ill and needed medical attention. It was then the doctor's found out and kicked her out of the service. Theres alot of information here. Please go check out this place. It worth it. And make sure you stop by the gift shop to.

Looking for an immersive and engaging way to learn about the history of African American soldiers in the United States military? Look no further than the Buffalo Soldiers National Museum!
This fascinating museum is dedicated to preserving and sharing the stories of the brave men and women who fought and served in the United States Army, particularly the Buffalo Soldiers - a group of African American soldiers who served during a time of racial segregation and discrimination. Through interactive exhibits, historical artifacts, and engaging displays, visitors can gain a deep understanding of the struggles and triumphs of these remarkable soldiers.
But the Buffalo Soldiers National Museum is much more than just a collection of artifacts and displays. It's a living tribute to the legacy of these soldiers, and a powerful reminder of their courage, dedication, and sacrifice. Whether you're a history buff, a veteran, or simply someone who appreciates the stories of unsung heroes, the Buffalo Soldiers National Museum is a must-visit destination that will leave you inspired and moved.

The experience I had at the buffalo soldiers museum was excellent. The exhibits were well put together and the level of education I received from my visit was monumental. The staff was extremely friendly. I will definitely be visiting here again and will certainly bring others.

A lot of history is contained within this relatively small space.
This museum showcases exhibits dating back to the American Civil War all the way through to 21st century Astronauts.
Much to learn and much to consider regarding African-Americans presence in the United States armed forces.
Tip.
Admission is free on Thursdays from 1PM to 5PM.
Enjoy ☺
Judy Pointer
Very interesting and so full of historical information that reflected the African American military services that made a huge difference in the outcome of many wars we've been in. Thank you for having this wonderful place.
Marion Clark
Museum director was kind and patient with our students. Nice exhibits, look forward to returning after the new exhibits are added.

Went during the black market event. Was nice to explore the museum and vendors at the same time. They also had performances that day..

This museum is small yet full of information. I loved reading the history of my ancestors.

First time I visited the Buffalo Soldier Museum.. It was a very beautiful building and taught me alot about the soldiers and what they went though... But I was there for work.. doing a catering job.. it turned out really nice I would say... I going to upload some pictures of the catering area and you can see some of the Museums features..
Fred Hardwell
People need to visit this place for education purposes and to support this museum. Important history hear that needs to be preserved.
Frieda Wiley
This museum has been on my list for several years. I finally got around to visiting, and I’m very glad that I did. They have a 15-minute video that gives you an overview regarding the history and some of the contributions of the Buffalo Soldiers. You can see actual uniforms as well as a coat made of buffalo skin. The museum features black contributions in the military not just during the era of the Buffalo Soldiers but all throughout Inited States history. They also have displays about women who served in the military sprinkled throughout and a video about a woman who posed as a man so she could serve in the military during the Civil War era. There’s also an exhibit paying homeage to many black astronauts. Although it is unrelated, it’s really interesting to see.
Ms Brown
Great tour very informative and powerful! To see all of the imperative contributions that Black Americans have provided to the building of America in her military. Brave valiant men and women! I left feeling more pride and a part of the fabric of America! Take your children, all colors and backgrounds to learn more about America.

I visited The African American Military Museum during an event called Black Market Houston. The atmosphere was inviting and engaging. The market took place on all three floors of the museum so there was a lot to choose from. The condition was comfortable and not too crowded. The vendors were full of smiles and that was the best part! I gave this event five stars because they had it all, music, food trucks, and quality shopping. The constructive feedback that I have is in reference to the music. It was too loud, resulting in challenges when trying to network or just talk to the vendors about their business. Some of the businesses had some really amazing causes that I would have loved to hear more about, but the loud music paired with the vendors trying to scream in my ear resulted in little to no interaction. I also like to feel relaxed when I shop so the overstimulation of the loud music aided in the limited amount of time that I spent in the museum. I'm sure I would have spent more money if the music was not as loud.
Ethan Lindstrom
So glad we visited! So much about the history of Africa Americans in the military that we never knew (And wrote down some books we saw referenced so we can keep learning about it).
There is some great artwork, and some interesting displays on non military stuff as well (like astronauts).
Kara Alberico
The tour guy was super funny and it was very interesting. I didn't know that much at first. The reenactment actress who played Hariet Tubmen was awesome. She made me cry. I would love to see Melissa Wyatt Thiboduex (sorry I think I spelled it wrong) none the less she was incredible!
Cheryl Donovan
The museum was amazing. The event space was huge and accommodated all of the guests who arrived.
Cyn C.
Awesome museum. Loved the free admission day on Thursday. I was able to take the kiddos and they enjoyed it. Plenty to see. I liked the different rooms with all types of different memorabilia.
Jill Moffitt
Awesome location for events. Table set up was elegant, sound system and A/V was appropriate for the size of the room. Restrooms were clean and up to date. Elevator is reliable and roomy for large groups. Parking lot is clean with a great surface.
Karen Mason
Presently under remodeling but still open. Pleasant surprise and learned even more about the Buffalo Soldier & how they're still in play in modern times. We owe a lot to them!
Elizabeth Irwin
Buffalo Soldier National Museum is not to be missed! Those of you who love history and have an appreciation for the preservation of African Americans in military history, I encourage you to volunteer!
P.S. Head to the museum shop for loads of incredible books available for purchase!

Mel A. P.
This place is great for learning about the often overlooked parts of American history as it pertain to people of color and their committed service in the U.S. armed forces.
I have brought guest from Kenya and South Africa, and each time they have left in awe of the rich history they had no idea existed.
A great place for those who love history and broaden their knowledge.
Gabby Kanu
I recently held my wedding at the Buffalo Soldiers Museum with the help of Shelle Fair! I want to thank her for her help during this stressful time. She made everything easier for us to enjoy our day. The museum staff were outstanding and willing to wait for our vendors when we were done early.
Raven Kimble

It was really a historical moment for us. We had two hours before our flight to depart so we decided to go here and we are so glad that we did. We had the opportunity to meet the last of the Buffalo Soldiers and share great conversation with him. Thank you SGM James Williams for your service.
Dan King
Extensive collection of memorabilia, artifacts, and documentation of service and sacrifices of African American soldiers in 2500 sq ft facility on ground floor of historic building with upper floors still under renovation.
Victor Diaz
Excellent collection of artifacts showing African American involved in every American conflicts and wars. It was very moving to see the courage and tanicity of the Black Soldier despite the treatment and inequality they experienced. It is the honor and sacrifices they made, the stories that should be taught in school in full detail. It is certainly worth visiting. Children should learn of this very important history. I emphatically recommend it! Thank you!
Shaun Williams
Exceeded my expectations. This museum is treasure, and I look forward to returning. Great range of collections, even better context w/ stories and narratives. The gift shop has a great variety of items. The staff members were nice. Plan on spending at least 30-45 mins here as there is such great material to take in. Not far from downtown and ample parking is available.
David Nidus
Important opportunity to learn about African Americans who served. Tip: get the playing cards in the gift shop to come home with facts.
Shawn Collins
This place was truly humbling and informative. So many things are kept out of the history books and few read what is there, but immersing yourself in this place will help you comprehend what African-Americans have done for this country for their country!! Recommend visiting.
Jess McConnell
Museum is nicely done and includes a wide range of historical information and displays to understand the origins and long-term contributions of these American soldiers. Start with the video to get a good overview of the history and of the museum origins.
Nice stand-alone building with ample (free) parking.
Well worth the price of admission!
Alex Benton
Loved it. My sons loved it as well. Learned a lot. Definitely worth the trip if you love history
Nana Ajoa Jumah
was only able to see exterior since it was closed

Black History not fully taught in the classrooms public or private. Here you will learned the struggles, sacrifices and songs of legends! You will be changed once you visit! Now make reason to know why!
Cindy Gauthier
Amazing Museum I never would have gone to had it not been for my friend's hubby from Canada (they were down for a visit). I don't have much interest in military history even though I am a vet, but this museum is very much about the stories of the people (one in particular stood out but I won't spoil the story) who came to be Buffalo Soldiers.
The museum has discounts for seniors, students and is reasonable at $10 each.
The map pamphlet lays the journey through the museum that you can take and you can obviously take as long as you need, watch or read what you want etc. There are two fascinating videos in two different rooms so make sure you catch those. Take the time to read the displays and in particular the letters that are written; amazing stories. The artifacts are cool and the whole building really captures the flavor of the time these soldiers served their country against all odds with great honor and pride. I was so interested in it all that I only took one photo, that my friend was moved by and wanted to remember. (I hope that is ok with the museum...)
The only criticism is that is was very cold in the museum which is usually a good thing but it was distractingly cold which is not usual or desired. But hey that's why we carry jackets in our cars down south.
Put this museum on your to-do list and I am certain you won't be disappointed. I would also note that they have a good sized gift shop.
Rose Marshall
Looking forward to going back to tour this museum. It was going through renovations at the time we arrived so it was closed. We will be returning soon. We'll call first for definite hours for sure.❤️

Beautifully curated museum. Lots of good information about Black soldiers in the U.S. military. The museum is not large and we got through it in about an hour. I plan on visiting again and bring my husband.
Grant DeRocher
Not a huge museum but has some cool things. Went on a free Thursday afternoon day.
Eddie Aaron
I was in awe because of the wonderful exhibits that introduced me to another side of the black history experience.
Courtenay Blair
Awesome experience. As the name suggests, this is a military museum forced on the African American armed forces experience. It was really cool to see that POV as you typically only here of a few stories. There is a very interesting exhibit relating to Houston, a court martial, and one one of the largest trials in American history. Stop by to see what I'm referring to
Kim Evans
I love this place. I had the pleasure of officiating a marriage ceremony here and it was so beautiful. 💛 …
Andrew Ndegwa

My husband and I really enjoyed the museum. We were amazed by what we learned about the Buffalo Soldiers. It's a must see
M Anderson
This museum is rich in history and charm! Expect a humble establishment with gems throughout the museum. In fact, see if you can find the following:
1. What year were African Americans allowed to join the military?
2. How and where did the term "Buffalo Soldier come from?
3. Had the Buffalo Soldiers not existed, what effect could that have had on American society?
4. Name one Native American Tribe that were considered Buffalo Soldiers?
Enjoy this piece of history many will never know!
Ge Ge M
Amazing venue! Black Market on 1st Friday really brings out the community! Always clean and great options for food trucks

It was great I would love to see this place grow bigger
Ralph Nickerson
It was my wife's first time at the museum. I've been going since it was in the old building back in the day. I loved it then and I love it now. Someone said, "not worth the price" in a review. That's because they don't value Black History. It's a blessing that we have this amazing place in Houston to keep the legacy and history alive. As a navy vet, I walked through the building filled with pride. It is a must see.
Erika Sodie
Love they hosted the Black Market for pop up shop business owners #EsparanzaExpressions

This museum reminds us all that African Americans have served this Country and deserve the acknowledgement.
It also reminds us that we all need to be prepared to continue the work that was started.
Karl Constant
Great place to see things that don't talk about in the classroom.
Lisa Williams
I learned something new about a soldier Cathy Williams. So now I'm going to look it up and read more about her
Michelle McChester
The Buffalo Soldier Museum was very informative about the African American military women and men who served the United States throughout history. I really enjoyed myself. It wasn't about African Americans; it was about American history.
Ray Paige Sr
A great place to visit. It is a museum dedicated to African American soldiers, starting from the Buffalo Soldiers of the Old West to the present. It also has a banquet room for rental.
Frankie Mo. HD
Every time I've come to this venue for an event or pop up it's been great! Live the atmosphere day or night
David Le (Le Hieu Nghia)
I really love this museum. Beside the amazing story about Buffalo Soldier, there are many types of exhibits from WWI, WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War,... etc
Rachael M.
Super informative! Love that they gave my 3 year old a coloring page and crayons. Kept her occupied while I watched the mini movie. Lots of cool stuff. I wish more of it was labeled though.
William Tubbs
Very interesting exhibition. A place that you should visit if you are ever in Houston.
Danielle Bosch
Absolutely amazing experience. Very well laid out with everything wheelchair accessible. Beautifully looked after and presented articles from the Buffalo soldiers with a lot of information easy to read in each area. The video was great to watch and staff were friendly. Definitely a place to visit!
Christine Oboye
My 4 grands from Chicago and I loved the museum! They paid attention and were interested in the exhibits. The children sized uniforms were a delight. A great experience.
Alexander Aspects Interior Design
I loved the museum , we had a wonderful time there. I just wish it were open more often during the summer months.
William Tellez
Well presented and entertaining museum. It should have more support from the armed forces, it's evident the effort is coming from a reduced group of people working hard with little support.
E Cross
I was fortunate enough to be there on the rare occasion of a live one person reenactment . Excellent . 👍👍👍👍👍 …
C Fam
Attended an Amazing party there. Great celebration rooms underscore to the even greater historical and educational exhibits. Thanks a million!
Mark Kirschke
Excellent museum experience. Super easy free parking only feet from the entry door. Very knowledgeable, friendly and passionate staff made my visit very informative. Relatively small space but packed with interesting art, artifacts and informative signage. Beautiful building is very well kept.
Tinisha Cox
This was my second time here for two different occasions. My first time was for a wedding which was absolutely beautiful. My second time was for the Black Market which was such a great night. I love the History behind it. So worth many trips there.
Ronald Harrison
The exhibits and reading is unparalleled. Will be going again.
Michael Robertson
I liked the tour. The staff was friendly and informative. They do a great job in showing how people of African descent have made great contributions in making our country great. Most of the information that they share will not be taught in our school systems; but it is a part of our history.
Kevin Anderson
Very interesting. Definitely see the Harriett Tubman reenactment! VERY GOOD. Excellent history. Can be a little on the slow side in sone parts. Overall, the history and historical artifacts are excellent! Definitely check out at least once. The front parking lot is small. There is decent parking to the right of the museum if facing the front door from the street.
Angela Brown
If anyone is looking for a wedding venue, you will not go wrong with the having it at the Buffalo Soldier Museum (BSM). Shelle Fair, the Event Manager, is phenomenal. I had my wedding at the BSM a few weeks ago. Working with Shelle from start to finish, was probably the easiest part of my planning process, which took a lot of the stress off of me. She was always available, gave me great pointers and recommendations for vendors (which I used), and helped us keep our budget in line! For those of you who have planned or are planning you wedding, I’m pretty sure you understand how important it is to be able to choose your food & beverage caterers, etc. Not many venues are as flexible as the BSM (especially when it comes to outside vendors), and for that we are very grateful. I’m so happy I chose the BSM for our special day and look forward to hosting our next private event there!
Jennifer D
Met the last living Buffalo Solider SGM James William's. Best museum ever!
Joyce Palmer
Very nice 50th Wedding Anniversary gathering was held there tonight. Beautiful event room setting. I had no idea this Museum had event rooms. You can also look around the museum. Only issue was listening to band try to outplay the band performing for another event going on in the room next door.
Vincent Clark (Gradplanner)
An overwhelming amount of African American Military display that is so moving. It's amazing that this museum attracts people of all races and from all walks of life. Although this was a spur of the moment visit, it was a detour with memories that will last a lifetime. Next time, I plan to take my gimbal and 360 camera once repaired. The staff are friendly and eager to assist. Thanks for the experience and thanks to my fellow Black Americans and all other Americans that served.
Yolanda Williams Steward
This place is absolutely amazing! The history here is outstanding! The pictures, the artifacts...the organization of the entire museum is beautiful beyond words. Captain Matthews has created a real treasure here in Houston, Texas. The Buffalo Soldiers Museum is so educational, it doesn't matter what stage of life you are in...everyone should experience this historic place at least once in your lifetime!!!!
Paula MCNAIR
This is a must see! Full of American History! Loved it and will take every visitor to Houston to see and tour it’❤️

Andrew Brickell
Fascinating insights into the experience of African-Americans who served in this country's armed forces, Coast Guard and with NASA
Vickie Thomas
Here we had much fun and high education. Our grandsons 4 and 11 learned a lot and enjoyed themselves with the horse and ringing of the huge bell. I enjoyed it there too and the souvenir shop and the old items outside in the back brought back so many memories it was just really interesting place to take family the staff is great I called ahead from Atlanta spoke to them and it was just just really cool really cool place to take the family

This is a unique museum. It's an inspiration for 2 different reasons. First, of course, are the stories and histories of the Buffalo Soldiers. You will learn. Second, this museum is a labor and love of an individual citizen who began collecting memorabilia and history of the Buffalo Soldiers. His drive and dedication bring us this museum. Ask yourself how difficult it would be for any one of us to start a museum. I'm deeply impressed. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I give it a five for its importance, the stories it tells, and the example it provides of one person's dedication to make it happen. The displays are full of information. I would love to see an organization or academic institution provide some significant funding.
Terraca Roundtree
We had a great time! We learned Alot!
Grace McKinley
Love this place. So much history, well kept and perfect venue place.
Elbert Walters
Great experience!! I attended with the Electrical Workers Minority Caucus. The rich history of the African American involvement in shaping these United States beyond what is universally taught like the civil rights movement was astounding!! Considering my status as a veteran, it moved me especially. And after all those extraordinary lessons, the venue had enough space for an all out gathering including a live band for entertainment. Great job!! I will be back to grab me more Buffalo Soldier memorabilia.
Arnetta M.
Comprehensive and engaging history of the Buffalo Soldiers. Was pleasantly surprised to receive a tour by the museum's founder. Great gift shop and merchandise. Might want to consider a small cafe to keep folks onsite longer while generating more revenue. Hope that many more people will visit and donate while in the area.

I visited here in school, I was impressed with all the information
Ashley Barnes
So much can be learned about history at this awesome museum. Not only can you take a tour but there is always something happening like the M.E.N. Inc. and the Black Market. This is a great place to host events. The employees are very attentive and knowledgeable. This museum comes highly recommended.
LovingN
Awesome museum! Too much information I was not taught in neither elementary, middle school, nor high school. Pretty freaking sad. If I ever have children, my child will learn about the Buffalo Soldiers and the many amazing Black Americans who are always forgotten in American history discussions
Najmah N
I learned so much while at this museum. I grew up learning about the Buffalo Soldiers, I just didn't learn the details until recently. The staff was very helpful and the museum itself had a lot of vital information about enlisted African Americans.
Barbara Amos
The history of us, told by us. Take your kids. They teach history when i was in school. I would always ask, where was us. America was built on the backs of free Labor.
Bernita S
I finally got around to doing something fun (and nerdy) in Houston on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.
Alexander Savory
This was my first time visiting the museum. I learned a lot about black history; more specifically about not only " Buffalo Soldiers but about how blacks in the US MILITARY are being treated today. I also learn about certain atrocities that were done to them after serving in the military. Mr. SHE James Williams should supported for his current service and a video cut to record a lot of the historical facts that is not told in any of the historic records.
Jennifer Hawkins
Small, but so nice. The artwork is so realistic and the antiques fill me with a lovely pain to see. And, of course, it's just so wonderful to have a museum dedicated to these African American heroes.
m p
A man gave an EXCELLENT 20-30 minute live theatrical reenactment. Truly great and entertaining amateur acting, definitely the best part of the museum. Staff were friendly, attentive, and eager to answer any questions and have a discussion.
Phi Pham
It's a nice place to burn a hour if you take your time. Not worth the price, interesting artifacts and pieces of history though! This is one of the few places you can bring to teach the kids about local American history.

It was great to learn about not only the Buffalo Soldiers but how they were connected in history to other military regiments. The museum and artifacts came to life through our tour guide Captain who kept things educational and engaging. Definitely a place to visit when in Houston!
Nita Bowie
Very nice, friendly workers, very informative and educational, the only thing I wanted to buy souvenirs and they didn't have a variety of sizes when it came to T-shirts!
kelley
Loved it! Family had a great time! The museum also has a gift shop with a vast selection of apparel and other items. Enjoyed the watching the documentary as well.
LaShawn Haynes
Great museum. We attended a Father daughter dance here. Very nice establishment!
John A.
A one of a kind, fascinating history about black soldiers in American history. A high value institution with all too little support for scholarship and collection management. I applaud their doing this important and completely unique historical work.
D. A. Jeffries
An abundance of information about our past
Charlotte Sias
Attended this venue for a gala/banquet. I am a Houstonian, and I had never been here before. I was impressed! The building has 3 stories: 1st floor is the gift shop (and i guess the museum); 2nd floor was an open, spacious room...beautifully decorated...tall ceilings that were loft-style to the 3rd floor...with a stage. The 3rd floor seemingly had a kitchen because the caterer and staff were up there preparing the food (which might be an inconvenience for a catering staff to go up & down stairs to serve guests). Overall, nice venue.

My visit to the Buffalo Soldier National Museum was an awesome visit. I love the artifacts and displays. The highlight of my visit was having the chance to talk with the only surviving Buffalo Soldier, Mr. Williams. It a place I will take my grandchildren to.
Renae
We have a national treasure in Houston. You need to go ASAP and learn about the heroes whose stories weren't taught in school. There are exhibits running from the Revolutionary War through to Desert Storm and astronauts. Whether you're interested in weaponry or individual stories, they have you covered. Go!
James Alexander
You owe it to yourself to check this place out! African American's have such a rich history and establishments like this ensure that future generations won't forget our story. It's also a great venue to use for an event. The Houston Area Urban League recently held their Casino Night fundraiser here. Support this business!
Tasha LaJeanna
Wonderful reenactments! Really enjoyed Ms Tubman. Was not informed the museum would closing early for special event, would have liked to visit gift shop or ask questions. Facilities could use some attention!
williiam maxfield
Great history museum... a must see if your in Houston
B Richard
Buffalo Soldiers National Museum was venue for a Mike Bloomberg Campaign initiative. For this event display rooms seemed more spacious since my last visit. The main room was packed with people and created a fire hazard. A lady who was trying to leave the event tripped and fell over a makeshift stair case leading up to Media stage. I am surprised the stage didn't crash. The other rooms were bare with lots of food and drink.
The event was great. Yolanda Adams was guest singer. Mayor Turner preached like he was at Church. Pastor Ralph West lead the opening prayer.
Tiffany Hill
Amazing museum. Such rich history. The staff is friendly & very knowledgeable
Dora
It Is Amazing!!! Highly recommended you won't be sorry it has a lot of interesting storylines and artifacts .. go see it you'll love it!!!

Dawana Griffin
Overlooked little gem in Houston. Worth the 30 minutes to an hour it takes to tour museum. Free admission too. They even have a Buffalo soldier themed room for the kids to play.
Leslie
We had an event there and it was beautiful. The dark wood, clean bathrooms and the friendly event clerk, was excellent. I would recommend this place for small events. If you have a big event, they also have an area for that.

I went to Buffalo Soldier's Museum for Blck Market and Greater Houston Black Chamber of Commerce. Each time I have went it has been a pleasant experience. I enjoy the atmosphere and ambiance. Thank you Buffalo Soldier's Museum for being hospitable to your guest.

historically accurate. Fun facts and memorabilia. The uniforms and gear were spot on. A lot of repeat information from the buffalo soldier museum in Arizona. It could have been bigger and offered a guide to make it better.

Rashunda Endsley
The BLCK Market was amazing! I make it a goal to patronize at least 6 black owned businesses everytime I attend. This time, I purchased oils, black soap and incense from Scentsations, bracelets from Fly Like Us, lip gloss from Loving Lacquer Cosmetics, juices from Sophie's Punch, soaps from Soapy Luv, and waistbeads from Crafts Wombman. I am thoroughly happy about my purchases. I will be returning to the BLCK Market soon to patronize at least 6 more black owned businesses!!!
Alan Steinberg
Interesting military history museum with a focus on the role of Buffalo Soldiers / African Americans. This is an important part of American military history that is sometimes overlooked. The museum is rather small and can be seen in about an hour. It's free on Thursday afternoons.

Barbara Cole
My family and I truly love The Buffalo Soldiers Museum. Visted with my grandson & husband an Air Force veteran. To watch the proud look on my husband's face and the excitement and enthusiasm of my grandson was worth it! The time spent exploring the exhibits and listening as the story teller educated us on our history, left us speechless and extremely proud of what The once Unsung heros "Buffalo Soldiers accomplished for our country". Please don't miss this fantastic part of our history.
Angel Crazy life

Buffalo Soldiers National Museum is a great place for families to step into a time machine and witness the great contributions of African-America soldiers throughout history. There are many pictures, exhibits and periodically historical reenactments for your viewing pleasures. Also the museum is free on Thursdays along with the other museums in the museum district. Accessible by light rail if you dont mind walking one to two blocks.

Amazing historical legacy of the Buffalo Soldier. This museum educated us interactively with our famous guide and founder of the museum, Mr Matthews brought history alive today. We became the "bravo regiment" as he named our group. We learned more in an hour than in 3 years of Public school. These soldiers will never be forgotten. Rondaturney
