Reviews of Children's Discovery Center
Melody Jones
Really nice children’s museum. A lot of fun for the little ones. All of the kids wanted to stay when they were closing. So much to explore and the staff sanitizes the surfaces throughout the day. Very organized play areas.
Christina Malena
It's hard to find the correct parking lot and even the entrance, and it's definitely older and could use updating outside and at the entrance. But we had so much fun!!!!! We came close to closing but stayed the full 1.5 hours and could've easily spent double that and then some! Definitely try to get there when they open so you're not rushing through it. There's 3 stories of fun, a water area, an under 3 area, and several small play areas for the younger kids (under 5). My 20 month old had a blast! He's definitely a little young for most of the things, but there was plenty for him to do! Elementary age would have tons of fun too. Would absolutely recommend going and we're considering getting the family pass!
Nicola Faulkner
Arrived at opening at 9am and kids cried when they had to leave at closing at 1pm. Such a great place for them to play and learn. Didn't get time to try the café because they didn't want to pause.
Alessio Rocchi
Great space for kids to play. There are two spaces that are safe for babies as well, our 7 months had a lot of fun. The whole space was very interesting and fun to explore for the entire family.
LT Eric Juback - USCG
Some of the displays have seen better days, but overall a great place to bring your 4-9 year old. Be ready to play, as your children will want to engage with you! Imagination not required but recommended!

This place was fine. I am unsure what I envisioned it to be but my child enjoyed herself. It does need a new makeover as you can see that it's been there for a long time.
Staff were all very nice/friendly. They were constantly cleaning toys after use which was nice to see. They asked for every customer to wash hands before entering the center. I'd go back again but wish the prices were a little less for what is offered.

Took my grandson for the first time! Enjoyed every moment, the layout was easy to get around, the different ethnic themes, Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, Hawaiian, Vietnamese was so interesting and educational . Looking forward to our next visit

This is the best children's museum in the entire United States! The entrance price is great, as well as the way the center is organized. Downstairs is dedicated to gigantic body functions, community service jobs, restaurant chef, police, dentist, baseball hitting practice, race cars, and then a whole room dedicated to reading with an actual library with about 500 books, a gigantic reading chair, a real storyteller/reader. Then the next two floors are dedicated to the other Polynesian countries with dress up clothes, play food, games, books, culture activities as well as an airline flight simulator that really works, and every area has full costume dress up for what ever the activity happens to be, such as a pilot, airline hostess, etc. If I lived here full time, I'd have a membership. It's fantastic!. Oh, and the cafe has the most reasonable prices I've ever encountered.

Very clean and fun for the kids. Great atmosphere and fun toys and play things. Science experiments and 3 levels of activities
Tserennyam Sukhbaatar
What a wonderful place for children. Glad we have this kind of center for kids. Kids love it. A full of activities and fun places to play. Children choose their own themes and favorite places to play. Staffs were kind and professional. Hawaii needs more places like this.
Sarah Osofsky
My kids, age 4 and 1 loved it but I was not impressed. Admission was expensive, membership is a lot for a family of 4, about $300. Seemed a bit dirty and old. Staff wasn't overly friendly. Wish the outdoor space was open for more than an hour. I was hoping this would be a good indoor activity for hot summer days but too expensive to more than just as a special occasion. I won't be rushing back.
Brittany Althaus
Wonderful place, my son and I spent most of the day here exploring! There is plenty to learn and do. From the mini "town" to play in. You can be a police officer, fireman, bus driver, banker, and much much more! There is a craft room, music area, play place and "movie theater" where you can dress up and act out your own movie! In the upper levels you an learn about other cultures and on the main level a "rainforest" area to learn and llay too (prepare to get wet though!). Their precipitation station is pretty darn cool and my son and I both enjoyed sending boats and toys floating down the river!
They do ask that parents stay off their phones as much as possible and play with the kiddos. Strollers are permitted but you cant actually take them through so just leave them in the car.
Please note there is an abundance of homeless folks in the area around the childrens center however they leave folks alone. Dont let it deter you!
We can't wait to visit again soon!
Audrey Rygmyr
So much fun. I took my 11, 9 & 7 year olds and they all had fun. There is something for everyone .
You do have to reserve your two hour time slot online during Covid.

This is a must for families with young children. There are so many different activities and things to look at. My kids 1 and 5 enjoyed role playing in the airplane as the pilot and flight attendant. We also enjoyed sitting in an oversize chair while reading a book in the fairytale library. My kids enjoyed picking pineapples and dressing up as Nemo while watching themselves on a TV screen. There is a fire station, police station, post office, auto shop, grocery store, bank, bus and too many more to list. We felt rushed in the few hours they were open. There is so much to do that I wish they didnt closer until later in the day. I rate it a 5 because I believe it is totally worth taking the kids to play and learn while having a blast. If we were ever to go back to Oahu we would definitly go back to the Childrens Discovery Center
Mara
Another wonderful day at the Children's Discovery Center
Everything was so clean and fresh!
The staff here is so friendly, helpful and accommodating.
We love the Military and Kama'aina rates.
Mahalo nui loa for another fun day at Children's Discovery Center I've been coming for many years and it's always a joy 😊
Ezequiel Moglia
Wow! This is a 3 story building that covers every inch with awesome activities for children of all ages! I was hesitant when I saw that adults also have to pay, but I am glad I did! Once you start walking you understand that the price is worth it! We when with out 3 years old, stayed there 5 hours and the only reason we left is because they were closing :). They offer food and drinks but the restaurant only accepts cash (really?) but we left to eat and come back, they were totally fine with that.
I am recommending this place to everyone I meet, even my friends with kids that are visiting Hawaii for a week, because every child should have the opportunity to visit this incredible place.
There are areas for small children, there is a rainforest to plain with water (amazing!) and they provide something to prevent your kid from getting wet. There is a firetruck, fire station, bus, airplane cabin and cockpit, boats and ships, mechanic station, grocery store, science station, tree house, theater (for your kids to create something), music instrument room and many many other activities.
The staff is super friendly and are cleaning constantly.
I cannot recommend this place enough!
Alison Barnes
Fantastic children's museum. Visited on a Tuesday with my 5 year old. Engaging, clean, well stocked exhibits that are well spaced. Staff were cleaning throughout our visit. There is only 1 bathroom on the first floor. First floor is typical children's museum activities, second floor is Hawaii culture, and 3rd is several countries that touch the Pacific. There are a few infant- toddler spaces. We were there for 2 hours, but could have spent another 1-2 there if had the time. This museum is not part of the reciprocal children's museum program. We would definitely visit again!
Brent P
Great place for kids. The 3rd floor was under construction, but the available exhibits were entertaining. They're only open for 4 hours on weekdays, but it wasnt busy. We were able to get time with almost all of the exhibits alone. Kamaaina admission is $10 for anyone over 1 year old. There are a lot of homeless dotting the perimeter of the park, but they didnt seem to bother while we walked to the center.
Adrian Sotelo
Great place for the family. Just believe the price is to high if you do decide to take kids over multiple times. But worth it.
Lewis Nakao
I've been here twice so far and my 3 kids (ages 5-9) love it. It's full of activities that can last easily an hour, but you want to plan for 2-3 hours. We stayed for just over 2 hours on both visits.
Some areas got updated such as having new items and it seems like the staff take care it all pretty well.
The grocery shopping activity is easily the most popular activity and then the water activity is also pretty fun too. But there are just tons of things to do and costumes to wear. There will be a lot of moments to take photos as well.
Be sure to to check their schedule before going so you have enough time to spend there.
Rainbow
One of the Best children's museum! and we visit many. Every time we visit Honolulu we go here. My kids love it. Especially the ship! It's ALL great. Even walking past all the homeless camps is a good education on empathy, awareness, gratirude, and social responsibility. FIRST WE GO TO adult museum then children's for incentive-works great everytime and my kids have excellent museum behavior now.
Joanna Polevia
What a great place full of exciting things to explore and discover. Fun especially for younger ones. Amazing staff!
Jessica Williams
Spent well over 3 hours playing, so there is tons to do, even with one floor under construction. The exhibits seem to be a bit outdated, but my 3 year old still loved them. We used the restrooms a couple times and every time they were super dirty. This was the worst part for sure. Staff were friendly and helpful. I appreciate the areas only for younger kids (5 and under) and (3 and under)! Great rainy day activity. Super hot inside though, there was no AC.

We had so much fun here! It was our last day in Hawaii and we had been avoiding doing indoor things but I'm glad we didn't skip this one. The whole trip was really about doing family things but this one was just for the little one and just what she needed to be able to do her own thing without safety warnings and hand holding. (Once kids start school they like to feel independent, but a crowded vacation isn't the place for that, right!?) Anyway she loved it here. So many fun hands on things to do and explore. She loved dressing up and pretending to be different people like a police officer! She really got into it and arrested her dad for taking a picture of a police officer on duty, aka her! LMAO Anyway if tour kiddo just needs to be a kid for a bit in a safe place out of the sun this is definitely the place to go. Also, we didn't feel over crowded. Families respected each other's space for the most part. Lots of places to sanitize also, FYI. Would definitely recommend coming here!
Kalina Villa
I went with my family. It was much improved from the last time I went. Though it is pricey in my opinion. We really enjoyed the waterplay area.
Yoyo Tk
Currently only the first floor is open. They don't know when upper floors will be open. I'll definitely come back when it's all open.
Darrick Li
Great place for children for play-based learning. I would recommend for children 6 and under.
Ashley Tolentino
I work for a Kids Club at a hotel and the children absolutely loved it. They didn't speak English but exploration has no language.
Ryan Gillen
If you have a toddler this is an amazing activity for them. We spent a good 2.5 hours checking out all the different sets they have. We had to go back a second time as our toddler begged everyday to go back on our 3 week trip to Honolulu. P.s. the ac is full blast here so bring a hoodie! A++++ 😍😍😍 …
Chuck A O
For those visiting or living local, this place is a robust multifaceted learning/play center for kids 3 to pre-teen. 3 floors of interactive learning stations/exhibits. Kids get inside and are non-stop until they leave. Part of the perk of entry is you don't need to clean up after your kids! 😅..but seriously, bless those attendants who are constantly picking up and cleaning after the kiddos. They have memberships for those who want to come often.
Vahid Ellig
Just the right amount of exhibits for our 4yr old. Very creative exhibits, most were different than another science museum we went to recently. Rainforest / water cycle exhibit was my favorite.
Noel Destura
Didn't know about this place till I was searching on Google, on what to do around the area with a toddler. This place is awesome, and apparently this gem has been here for years. Great place for children, and lots to do. The family can easily stay for 2.5 to 3hours. I would've gave a 5 stars however... just park your vehicles at the Kakaako Park, parking.
Kate Rodriguez
We've been to a few Children's museums throughout the years with our nieces, nephews, and now our LO. They often don't have much for toddlers but this one had a few sections geared specifically toward under 5 or under 3. They had some pretty neat areas about the islands and Hawaii that made this one unique. I think the only part that was closed was the bubbles. Overall, with $12 pp.
Lacey Vasquez
The hours aren’t so great, but I took my son when he was two years old, and he spent most of the time in the downstairs play space.
I would buy a membership if it was open in the later afternoons.
teddy andrion
Great place for toddlers to learn while having fun! so many activities that will keep your child busy for hours. The staff is friendly and accommodating.
Warren Naai
Very extensive displays and interactive activities. Highly recommended for 3+ year olds.
Bill Woodruff
Our 7 year old had a blast for 3 hours then didn't want to leave.
Shocktop Buhlig
My kids love it. All the activities are a little dated, but the amount of activities is pretty substantial. Always go back and find something new. Worth the time to check it out, for younger kids (2-7)
Frank Thatguy
Nice place for young kids to play and learn they keep it pretty clean and it’s only $12 per adult and kids under a certain age are free
VN W
Kids had a great time! Lots of things for them to do/see. We will be going back.
Shari McMahon
Wow, wow, this place is -amazing-!!! Has so many exhibits that my 21 month old and I spent 3 hours at this place. Love it and would definitely go back if had a chance.
Samuel Law
Great indoor area for kids to play. Lots to see and they will stay for a long time!
Cha B
Nice staff, well thought out environment and very engaging for kids. My 2 year old gets pretty stoked when we visit. We liked it so much the first time we went that we ended up buying a pass for the year. 😊 …
Kamu Ela
It's a place I take my son's to let their imagination run wild. A variety of cool things to keep your child occupied. It's also a nice escape from the heat
Carly Moore
Really fun, creative place. Definitely worth a visit, and for us we got a pass and go weekly or every other week. My son is almost three and there is a lot for him to do. It definitely is pretty dated like other reviews suggest.
Ehrl Jore (808Jore)
Kids loves going here. There’s a lot of activities in the center. A little busy when we came coz it’s the weekend. A lot of parking available.
Emily Chamberlain-Hall
This place was so fun! My kid had been a few times around age 4, but still enjoyed it for hours at age 11! The Hawaiian Airlines flight simulator was the biggest hit. Such a great place for kids to wear themselves out and tons of staff spraying and cleaning every few minutes. Thank you for a safe place to play!
Luo Pan
My kid had lots of fun here and was not willing to leave. It was a great option if you came to Honolulu with kids and wanted something not beaches related.
Susan Oswald
This is such a fun place for littles! Admission is $10/person (kama’aina & military). There’s a lot to do, see, and learn here. There are three floors of things to do:
1 - Rainforest Adventures, Fantastic You, Your Town
2 - Hawaiian Rainbows
3 - Your Rainbow World
We spent most of our time on the first floor and had so much fun. I saw the place being cleaned throughout our two hour stay. I would love to see some designated snack areas.
Anthony Arquines
Wife and I took our 1 year old son here yesterday, and we had a lot of fun. There were temperature screenings at the main entrance, workers were very friendly and hygienic, cleaning equipment when they could. It did seem a little crowded at first, but mostly due to kids just running around, having fun. Towards the end of our 3 hour appointment time, it did empty out quite a bit. Our son isn't walking yet, but he still had a lot of fun with all of the interactive play as well as the keiki play room. They do not allow strollers, or any food or drinks in the exhibits, but there's plenty enough there to keep your kids entertained for hours. Parking is free, Kamaaina rate is $10/person. Overall a fun experience for the family. Will definitely have to come back again once the boy is brave enough to discover and play.
Jason Hirose
Staff are great and are very good at wiping down items used and assisting parents with any issues. Plenty of activities for kids to participate in (pretty much everything is interactive). Great place for families!
John Myers
Their website doesn't do this place justice!! The center is so much fun with so many activities to interact with and learn from. My wife and I had just as much fun as our kids. The staff are all so friendly, we can't wait to go back!
lotchell Famacion
My kids enjoy every visit we have at this place...very informative for the kids.
M S
A wonderful place where kids play and learn.
Staff made sure environment felt safe and clean... constantly are cleaning toys and play areas... also help to keep an eye out for the kiddos!
Jenn Menn
Great for preschoolers. Could easy spend open-close there. Hours on Google not right. So double check their site. Super sanitizing as kids finished playing an area. Craft area still closed but plenty on all floors to do.
Taylor Donaghy
Clean, fun, great staff, bought a membership and I expect we're going to be going a lot.
Karlene Thompson
Really enjoyed our day! The employees are great, keeping things cleaned and sanitized between groups of people. My kids had a blast. I saw on the reviews about the homeless problem, but I didn't see anything at all. I thought it was a great experience.
Candace Tenholder
This place was one of the best things to do with my toddler. He absolutely loved it as did we. So much to see and do. Super friendly staff. Super clean environment. We only stayed about 2 hours but he could have played there all day. There is a cafe there to get food which is nice but they only accepted cash. Cant think of anyway this place can be improved exact cards accepted in the cafe
If you like my review, please follow me and give me a "like"!
Shauntrice Renee
The kids enjoyed discovering each activity, which made me happy seeing them go from one thing to another.
Katherine Aumer
Recently renovated. Wonderful place for kids. Closes early.
Stoni Jean Williams
This place is dope for kids. I have a 2.5 year old and a 15 month old and they both had a bunch of fun and there were older kids there too having a blast. Super interactive and there are three levels of fun and set ups of all kinds and hits every senses. Recommend. It's a great way to spend a hot or rainy afternoon. Nap time sure to follow. Only beef is there is no food or drink allowed so make sure and feed your kids before you go. Oh and there is only one bathroom and it's located on the lower level. That's not convenient.
Brian Sutton
My son begs to go here every time we are in Hawaii. They have a lot of really cool interactive and fun sections. The only downside for me about this center is their hours.
Frances Holland
This place has been here for many years and I feel obligated to bring all of the younger generation here in order for them to experience the joy of learning that I have. There are so many interactive portions such as different cultures, different jobs, the human body, and things that help to develop the mind. The staff is amazing, they are great with kids and obviously love their job. I did not see one staff member that looked like they hated their job.
Wes Lum
Great place to bring your kids. From infant/toddler to intermediate school. aged kids. Gets a little crowded but staff is very friendly and tries to keep order. For there toddlers there are 2 main areas. My son is a toddler and has been going weekly for almost a year now. He still enjoys it.
Update 06.2022. no reservations required anymore and hours are longer. Hurray!
Brittany Traeger
My kiddo loved this place. Great activities!
Michael Ervin
Great place to bring small children ages 2-8. Plenty of activities and hands on exhibits. The water room was great with many intricate details very cool. Expect to spend an hour in the water room minimum. The water room does close one hour before the museum so make sure you account for that. The other first floor rooms are great. There is a gem hidden upstairs with a ship for the Kids to play on, a Hawaiian airlines plane and a small village with various dwellings from around the pacific. Definitely enough in this place for multiple visits.
A A
Fun, educational and interactive place to bring kids of all ages! My son had a blast and loved the variety of exhibits offered! He didn't get to go through all of them because they close soooo early 😥 But they do offer Military discounts which is a plus! Some of the exhibits really need to be thoroughly sanitized PLEASE and thank you! Overall we really enjoyed it and would love to return!
David Pickett
This place is really great. It is huge, kept clean, well managed, has fun and instructional activities, and my daughter loved every minute and didn't want to leave (even after 4 hours). If you have small kids and live in Honolulu I think it is totally worth going and getting a membership.
Avniel Naidu
Super fun for the kids. Had lots to do. The workers were constantly sanitizing so everything was kept clean. You have to make a reservation and it's for only 2 hours so you have to hussle to see everything
Angela Chin
We spent a morning here when we wanted a break from the beach during our vacation. The center featured a lot of exhibits we've seen at other children's centers like the international village, displays about the body, mini city with a fire station and that type of thing, but there were a few unique Hawaiian exhibits that our little guy really enjoyed. They have a pineapple picking display that was really fun. I felt like the water area was exceptional. The center also has a lot of great areas for smaller kids and I appreciated the sectioned off areas where our toddler could have some fun without battling bigger kids. Definitely worth a visit if you want a kid focused day on your vacation.
Ivanna Almendarez
We looved this museum. I make it a goal to go to a kid's museum with my toddler in every place we visit and at first I thought it was a bit underwhelming compared to others but I was pleasantly surprised by the end of the day. One of the highlights was the Asian cultures floor and it was beautiful and detailed. The prices at the cafe were decent as well. Definitely go with your smaller children if you're in town!
Michelle Kobayashi
My 5 year old daughter attended 10 of the week long summer camps offered this past summer. She absolutely loved her experiences there. She came home with her interest piqued on a variety of subjects including the Amazon Rain Forest, the 5 zones of the ocean, the inner workings of the human body, various foreign countries, dinosaurs, and conducting investigations. She had the opportunity to cook, make crafts, and practice her Jedi moves. The staff went to great lengths to keep her safe with numerous COVID protective measures. She looked forward to going every day and she just loved her teacher Miss Margo. I can't say enough about how wonderful the Children's Discovery Center Discovery Camps are.
Nina J
So much to do, lots to learn. So much education for kids even though they think it's just a playhouse. Definitely plan to be here all day. Pack your lunch...they have a small cafe but not much variety. If you can donate... it's truly a great place where kids have fun as well as learn.
December Gross
My oldest daughter just adores this place. We’ve been to a couple museums in the Children’s group and this is by far the beat and biggest one we’ve been too. We have spent hours and hours there and although Mommy was tired , my girl loved it. The even have a few spaces for my 10 month old as well and now that’s she’s mobile , it’s perfect !
Hillary S
It was huge (2.5 stories worth of exhibits) and tons of fun for my 1 and almost 3 year olds! Tons of stuff for older kids too, plan on spending a couple hours and still not seeing everything! Parking in the back of the building fills up quick on rainy days.
Samantha Peebles
Always fun and friendly. They have special events and a cute little preschool as well, even the big kids enjoyed themselves but definitely geared for preschoolers, they were good sports for their baby brother.
Kristen Ogawa
Our first trip to the children's discovery center was so memorable for my 2 kids! There were so many fun and Hawaii specific displays that it was perfect place to wrap up our vacation. I would say this place would be great from toddlers thru elementary school. I loved the Hawaiian airlines display and Hawaiian rainbow floor since it really reminded me of growing up in Hawai'i. Perfect place to bring your keiki on a rainy (even sunny) day!
Linda Stringer
My 20 month old granddaughter loves this place. We stayed about 2 hours. She could easily have stayed another 2. This place is so well thought out and age appropriate. My 4 year old grandson loves it too. With the kamaaina rate and senior discount, I only pay $7 to come. My grandchildren have an annual pass, courtesy of the other grandparents. Highly recommend the Discovery Center!
Rodney Kalawa
We took our medically fragile son here for a spring break outing. He loved it. It's a place where education meet fun.
Michael Inchausti
Great place for littles to play. Staff did a great job wiping surfaces down after each group left station and limited number of people allowed in at a time. Must reserve time on their website before going.
Shawnee Trejo
There is something for all ages. My two year old boys loved it. My 9 year old daughter loved it. Me and my husband enjoyed playing with the kids. Probably one of the biggest highlights of our trip to Honolulu.
vancamp popese
Great huge space for your kids to run around and explore. Has two separate areas for infants and toddlers. A kids restaurant that serves pizza and spam musubi (cash only though). For some reason, the homeless camps tend to gravitate towards the exterior of the place, but they have never bothered us. Been going here almost monthly for three years, and no issue.
Anthony Fukuoka
Awesome! Our 2 little girls spent hours going thorough the multiple floors of role playing/play area exhibits. Workers were always present to assist and clean areas for visitors. The building itself is near a large homeless encampment so the parking areas were a little unkept and smelly.
Janine D.
Loved the place, so did my 2 year old. Not enough time to do everything which is great because you will not get bored ever. If your child was bored (one of the reviews), I am sorry but that is your child having a problem...not this place. Or maybe the child was too old for this (I recommend ages 2-5). Cafe has limited healthy options and reasonable prices. Membership is worth it if you go once a month at least. Parking is free. I found this easy to find with GPS. I also thought it was neat and clean....did notice that staff is NOT smiling. Cheer up...it is a childrens place staff!!!
S T
Disclaimer: I haven't been to this place in many years. My children were a lot smaller and the exhibits have changed and with corona virus, it makes it for a challenging visit.
Their parking lot is the kakaako park parking lot. They have a parking lot to the side of their building, but for whatever reason it's closed off.
If you have children under the age of 10 this place is awesome. There are many things to look at, touch, feel, experience.
Because of coronavirus, the staff work very dilligently to keep everything sanitized and wiped off. There are hand sanitizer stations everywhere throughout the facility. They also have everyone wearing masks and temperature check done, so if you're worried about coronavirus, they seem to be doing their very best to keep everything sanitized.
Though there were some exhibits that were closed, which was disappointing, but what can you do, just enjoy what they do have.
Even though it seems like a place better for younger children, slightly older still have fun, but it's not the "same" as it was when they were small.
Overall a great experience.
S. C. Bolton
Great place to take your kids on a weekend. If you have a group, you can schedule it ahead of time. This is my second time going, and I went with my son's school, Pre-K. All of the kids had a blast. I rated it 4 Stars bc they only took cash for the snack bar, and the place doesn't change much over the years.
Johnson Cheng
The Discovery Center is a nice place for kids to explore. It is great for school field trip. Kids learn and play best with their friends (not necessary with parents:( Nevertheless, I enjoy the wheelchair ramp, inside da mouth exhibit and the old time role stations where kids can play dress up.
Dean N
My toddler son loves this place so I rate it four stars. I would give it five if the center updated the play areas, but there's still a lot for the little ones to do here. Downstairs has a big play area for infants and toddlers, as well as a little fishing activity in addition to some of the main attractions. It's basically a little indoor city for the little ones, including a market, doctor's office, repair shop and fire station to name a few. Upstairs your little ones can take a journey to the different countries (small exhibits) and get a small experience of the different cultures.
If you are visiting an need some place for your little ones to run around and have a good time, this is a nice place. If you have the annual membership, which I think is pretty reasonable if you go often, then it's a good place to kill some time while your little ones have a blast.
Be aware, lately the homeless have camped out near one of the smaller parking lots, but there's still a lot of options with the nearby Kakaako parking lot.
Brian Lee
Great collection if things for kids to play with. Hawaii homes are so small, a lot of these toys are just not feasible for your home. Lots of leaning opportunities. My daughter uses to attend the toddler time, we may go back if our scheduling works out better. Only gripe is the large classes that come in. Sometimes it's not too bad with 1or 2 schools there. Today was OK, seemed like each child had a guardian with a particular school. But I've been there when 1 teacher takes in what seems to be 20-30 kids. Those kids run wild, and quite honestly physically destroy the toys, while ruining the experience. I get they pay bills by admissions. But sometimes it's just WOW REALLY?!?
Alanea Burrell
My 3 year old loves this place! Very educational and a great way to spend a rainy day or do something besides hit the beach. You’ll need more than one trip to get the most out of each exhibit. Would highly recommend! Don’t miss the 3rd floor!
Grace Beckett
A bit pricey but still a favourite even as the kids are getting older.

Love bringing the kids here. Tons for them to do where you can easily spend a couple of hours. Only true negative is the surrounding area with the homelessness. However they have no bothered us when we have gone to the Center.
Shelbs McD
Really great hands on place for kids of all ages! My 9 month old had a blast as well as my 4 year old! My only complaints are that some of the toys are dirty/unable to be sanitized and it doesn't seem like it's sanitized properly as many people who visit get sick
Nancy Ishimoto
This was the first time my husband and I have been here. We took our 2 year old granddaughter who had an absolutely great time. There were so many areas for her to explore and a ton of pretend play from doctor's office, police station, firestation, Banks, stores (where they can take a shopping cart, pick the items from shelves and every check out their own items at the register); another area has a very realistic Hawaiian Air plane to sit in or play pilot or flight attendant.
So much to do in such a short time. Their hours are 10am -3pm. We barely made it out the door at closing time before our granddaughter was already asking to come back again!!
Genevieve Fallows
The kids could have stayed for hours!! We were sad they closed at 1pm on a weekday. Definitely wished there was a similar center back home. We would be frequent flyers for sure. Great place to be whether or not you're trying to spend a day indoors on this island.
Sarah Davis
My almost 3 year old son had the time of his life here. I think the ticket price is very reasonable if you are local or military. There is so much to see and the staff is constantly cleaning.
Oz Radiano
Great place for kids with a lot to experience and do
Katherine Liu
Superb place for children of all ages to learn through play with their family, and experience the wonders of the world through the many exhibits. From learning about the human body to exploring different cultures, this place is fun and beneficial for kids, and allows them to get hands on with their learning.
Brittani Fitzhugh
Went here for my son's kindergarten field trip with his class. The employees were super nice and attentive to the kids and everyone had a blast. I definitely want to take my son back to explore the place more one day.
Ashley Silva
It was much more than I expected. Just amazing my son spend like 4 hours there and he didn't want to leave it. The staff is super gentle and understanding how the kids are. Super cheap also for all the fun that you will have.
Definitely we'll be back
Annie Terrones
The children love it here. There is so much to learn and explore. We got a season pass, so we have been visiting the last 5 weeks and still haven't gone up stairs. Just yesterday we discovered they have an outdoor area open from 11:00 am til 12:00 pm. Where the children fed worms, planted seeds, watered, observed catipillars and larva. They have cool bubble stations and outdoor play.
We will continue our visits until they no longer cry when we leave or wake up and ask if we are going today. The open hours are short but don't be detoured the children can't take to much more than 3 or 4 hours at a time
Daren Del Val
Brought my daughter here. $10 a person so $30 for the wife and daughter and I. You can spend the entire day there so it's worth it if you do. Tons of activities inside for the little ones. My daughter absolutely loved it.
One problem is that it's in the area where there is literally a homeless city. tons of them in the area. Do not leave any belongings in your car as they break into cars often in the area.
Carla Allen
Only thing that could make this place better is if there cafe accepted card. It's only cash if you forget to bring enough snacks or water or if you get hungry after playing. Other than that they keep the place clean and they follow safety measures to keep little ones safe during the pandemic
Caitlin Reposar
Great thing to do for my almost 2 year old. He had a blast and I think they have a good amount of things offered for smaller keiki.
Deloris Hairston
This is a great place for children...preschoolers to elementary. Everything is "hands-on." No matter what style of learner a child is, their interest is captured, i.e. auditory, oral, kinesthetic, visual. It does not matter if a child has challenges or is advanced, this is the place to bring your child(ren). 💞
As for "big kids", they have things for us to do, too. My favorite place is the Story Room...the big over-stuffed chair and wall to wall books!! I'm sure you can find your favorite!! And let's not forget the fireplace. All that makes for a cozy place to be!! I failed to mention, there is a rocking chair, too. 😉
C Price
Great for kids from infants aged up. So many options and awesome hands on experiences. They are doing a fantastic job trying to keep up with the kiddos and keep everything clean & santatized / socially distanced.
Hannah
*Hours should be longer on weekdays. It can take more than a few hours to explore all three levels and take time to eat. (Or offer cheaper weekday rates.)
*Kids cafe is nice.
*Prices are a bit high for "Hawaii's children"- I'm surprised a place that can offer so much for its community isn't more affordable for the average local family.
*Bishop Museum ($65) and Honolulu Zoo ($40) have better membership rates. ($200 for a family of four should also include free entrance to other events you offer)
*You should not charge for kids under 2. Kids 2-6 should be half price.
*Carousel should run daily unless you offer cheaper rates on weekdays.
*I'd be more likely to get a membership or come more often, and travel the 40 minutes there, if your fees were less and hours were longer.
Josh Eckhardt
Awesome place for me and my nephew to visit. I think they should incorporate some hand sanitizer at "adult" level height to reach though. My hands were pretty gross after playing with all the fun tinker things
Kaimana Pinē
A gem of Honolulu! This is a must go-to spot if you have kids. The daily and yearly cost to access is very affordable and theres plenty of free parking. Inside is climate controlled and you'll find very friendly staff and lots of activities for kids to do as well as spaces for exploration.
Anne Marie Duca
Great place for children. However, its surprising that they don't offer weekly or monthly passes in addition to the yearly membership. It gets expensive if a visiting family wants to take kids two or three times within short time frame.
Aaron Tsubata
It's an amazing place to bring your little ones. Plenty of interactive displays for kids to play with. I only wished they had longer weekday hours during the summer.
Bad at YouTube
Can spend hours here for $10 a head... Lots to do... I let the kids have 10-20 min. on each exhibit and over a dozen exhibits... Kids didn't want to leave.
DJ
I brought my nephews here this weekend. They had a blast! So much to see and do. I wish we could've stayed longer. 2 and a half hours was not enough time to enjoy the center.
jordan campbell
Great interactive exhibits. Several areas for under 2 kids where they can play without being run over by bigger kids. The 2nd floor has some nice areas focused on hawaiian, asian, and pacific island themes.
Larry Wong
A great place to spend a morning or afternoon with young children. Used to come here with my son a lot. Almost all areas are attractive. Lots of places for grand parents to sit down if they need to. Highly recommended.
Matthew Fujimoto
One of my favorite places to take the kids. The hours are a little inconvenient. The places for he kids to play are excellent. The food on the snack shop isn't that good. Bring your own and eat at the beach after.
Pochacco S
If you want to see the smile on your child's face as they explore this place you're in luck! Children will be exposed to the endless of possible careers. You'll also find a little cafe for your little snacks to help energize your keiki as well as some coffee to help keep your energy up.
Yvonne Takehara
The preschool is a hidden gem and has been positive in developing my grandchild become a confident 4 year old. Highly recommended.
Kelly Cherry
Honors local heritage including many different cultures and ethnicities. Lots of different experiences in the museum that are interactive and fun for the kids.
Darlene Kelii
Excellent Tour Guide Kyra gave our pre k students very detailed tour and instructions. Staff very courtesy and well organized. Great visit to Hawaii Discovery center. Our students had lots of fun.
Kathy Shackelford
Great kids place. We could have easily spent another hour or two in addition to the two we did spend in the museum. If we come to Honolulu again it will be on our list to visit again.
Lava Dickens
Great experience. Took my 1 year old. Very comforting and friendly on the inside. But on the outside is a whole different scene. People"camping" all around the property
Mark M
So much for the kids to do. Very interactive. They had so many different activities on a few levels. Lots of pretend and creative learning.
Jazmine Barquero-Hughes
Super fun experience, great for toddlers ❤️
Kurt Swanson
Wonderful place to bring your child for a few hours. Really wonderful curation of the exhibits.
Melissa Nieves
The place is okay. It's pretty much like Japan and everything about Japan. I was expecting more variety but very disappointed. Also there a huge homeless problem around there. I mean they had tents inside the property, all around the building. Not something I wanted to see going to a kids museum.
Frank Lyndall
Very fun. A wonderful place to take the kids, gets a bit crowded throughout the day. A little upset with price for my 1 yo....same as everyone else.
anthony miyashiro
My son(4) loves Discovery Center, he has a blast each time we go. As parents we love it because it is educational fun.
Cadiz Prince
It's a fun area for kids to play inside away from the summer heart. It does feel a bit dirty and germy, but definitely a fun place to interact with your kids
Kelly Trinh
Fun for kids and adults !!
MJ
My kids had a blast running around and playing dress up
Nina Mensching
Such a great learning experience for children. Hands on learning as well .
It's worth the fee , every penny of it to keep the facility in the great it's in !! Suggest to pack a healthy lunch and bring water .
michaela cunningham
Very friendly staff, amazing attractions, good vibes, kids love it. Currently partly under construction so the third floor is closed and so is outside which they open every Friday.
Reid Isaki
Great place to visit, hope it stays in business everyone is so nice and respectful. Kids love it
L Santos
Took my 2 year old daughter there for the first time last week & she absolutely loved it. She didn't want to leave. Thinking of maybe becoming a member.
Jayda Sagon
Fun place to go with children. They can learn and have fun at the same time! The only thing is that it might be crowded. Over all it’s so much fun!
moe jamal
Many many activities for younger kiddos. (Adults can have some fun too). Reserve ahead.
L P
Awesome place to still take your kids! Only open for a few hours daily. Check before you go
Ashley U
Our kids could spend the entire day here. Clean, lots of staff there to keep things organized and sanitize, etc.
Alison Taddio
We love this place! There are so many different activities for your little one. Highly recommend.
Jonathan Ortega
I would have to fully agree with a previous users review from 4 years ago that still rings true (J Hill). The review hit all major talking points that I wanted to address, other than the fact that you require cash to purchase food items but fail to have an ATM on the premises.
Gonzo
Always fun for kids!
HMbaram
Great place to bring the kids on a rainy Hawaii day. You'll spend hours and hours here. Let your imagination wonder and have a blast with your kiddo.
Harold Bray
THE EXHIBITS ARE VERY FUN&EDUCATIONAL FOR ALL AGES
Chai T
Very cool place for children to play. Area is spacious and clean. Plenty of fun for parents as well!
Brandon Jean-Paul
Great place to bring your kids ! Clean facilities and adequate Covid measures are in place. It's nice to have some sense of normalcy.
Cristina Jimenez
It is a decent place, but for the price of membership and what they have available, it is not worth obtaining the family membership. I have been to four different ones and this one is the least maintained.
JadeStone Developments
Great little place for little ones to learn about Hawaii. Even has a hawaiian airlines exhibit where kids can play pretend landing and taking off a plane. Its a hoot!
John Banagan
The kids love it. They get to pretend at different occupations, learn some science facts, and explore. Parking is usually pretty good.
Tatiana Macias
Fun and an awesome experience for kiddos!! Excellent price
John Burton
Best place ever . So long as its not too packed and parents watch their kids. Its bad sometimes but the staff always helps except for one lady but just talk to the manager, she's great.
Bryce McKenzie
Good place to bring young children to learn about the world around them. Some exhibits are a little old but still very good.
Beverly Graham
Very informative child friendly but my ONLY draw back is that you can't push your baby stroller around and I think they should inform you of that.
Jordan Kepa
By appointment only lots of fun for adults too. I had a really good time with my group of grand kids.
Stacey A.
We had so much fun on the end of the school year field trip.
Tilisa Crandell
Our little guy had lots of fun exploring today at the Discovery Museum. Lots of things to do with other little ones for socialization and learning.
Akira Kiyohara
The prices went up, but it's still a great place for my daughter
Conor B
This place is Amazing, it’s like walking into a time warp. It hasn’t been changed since the late 80’s. Really hope it stays this way forever.

Good points- kids can touch all the things, they have food, water area has been redone, not a weather dependent outing.
Con- pricey

So many things to do for little kids to do here! But it's a bit pricey. Note that the rainforest area close one hour before the center close.

Magical Pancake
This is the type of place you go in with an imagination and play with your kids in a nice setting. Lots of cool props to act out different jobs, professions, hobbies, etc. We didn't see a cafeteria or restaurant but packed food to eat on some table/chairs set up outside. There's free parking in a nearby public park. The toilet are not downsized for little ones so bring your toilet seats. Carry wipes with you as there are a lot of toys and props. We managed to get an hour out of this place for us, your results may vary.
Bruce Lazenby
Grandchildren gad a blast and an easy place to oversee them.
Jennifer Smith
Fun place but it smells musty in the entire building. Elevator was broken the day we went so one of our guests wasn’t able to access the second and third floor. Luckily it was an adult and not one of the kids.
Nattie
It's a perfect facility for preschoolers. There are two dedicated spaces for children under the age of 3 (maybe less than), so even small children can play safely. In terms of content, I wonder if 2 to 4 years old can enjoy it the most.
You can go by The Bus from the Waikiki area, and the parking lot is wide, so it's easy to access. There were many homeless people in this area and I was worried about security, but I was there from 10:00 to 13:00 on Sunday, but I didn't see anyone who seemed to be in danger going in and out.

Recommended for those with children. You can experience various jobs in a space like KidZania. My daughter, who is 4 years old, loved being a pilot and flight attendant on an airplane. Also, there were newscasters, stage plays, firefighters, car mechanics, banks, supermarkets, doctors, and many others. There is also a second floor where you can experience the culture of various countries. In Japan, it was kimono and karaoke, flower arrangement, and calligraphy. Due to my daughter's strong request, I ended up going there for two days during my stay.
laurent danet
This is an indoor play park. Inside this center is reconstituted a mini city with its shops, its transport, its emergency services... All on the theme of the game with an educational approach. It is suitable for young children.
클로이
My 4 year old visited and had fun
It was well-organized up to the upper floor, and I liked that there were many wooden toys rather than plastic ready-made toys.
My child loved playing in the water.
かわいいヒナキンちゃん
A facility that looks just like Kids Plaza Osaka.
which one is older?
The price is cheaper here and there are more children. ($24 for parent and child)
The 1st floor has activities such as the body structure and a supermarket, and the 2nd floor has exhibits from Hawaii, China, the Philippines, Vietnam, Japan, and more.
The most fun is the experience zone of Hawaiian Airlines?
You can pretend to be an airplane passenger seat, driver seat, or cabin attendant.
It's not as fancy as Kidzania, though.
My 7 year old enjoyed it so much. I was there from around 10:30 until closing time.
As for how to get there, you can come by bus, but be careful where you get off.
Google Maps shows the parking lot in front of Office Max, but if possible, go to Salt at Kakaako.
It's closer from Office Max, but you have to go through a road with a lot of homeless people. There are also many caterpillars😣
If you go from the salt side, you will not meet the homeless relatively. Please come back from there.
You can also stop by Salt Cafe.
By the way, the cafe in the center only has sandwiches.
takashi I
A facility where you can experience various occupations and science experiences. A 2-year-old child also enjoyed playing with the local children. English is required for reception, some facilities, and friendly communication, but it's a great place to experience things you can't do anywhere else.
If you ever go to Hawaii with children, we recommend that you stretch your legs. (When we went there, there were almost no Japanese people, and it was an environment where Japanese was not understood.)
A facility where you can experience various work experiences and science experiences. Two-year-old children also played and enjoyed with their local children. A good place where you need English for reception, some facilities, and familiar communication, but you can experience something you can not do otherwise.
If you are going to Hawaii with your children, we recommend that you go further. (There were almost no Japanese when we went there, so I could not understand Japanese.)
根子千朱希
It can be enjoyed by infants to elementary school students (even higher grades if intellectually curious). A facility like a mixture of Japanese KidZania and science museum.
In the space dedicated to children under 3 years old, you can play with Merry Gym and toys with music.
The more you look at the content that has been created, the higher the degree of perfection.
Even if you don't understand the content, you can learn intuitively with a lot of experiential content.
Places that are not crowded like Kidzania ◎
Eating and drinking is prohibited in the facility except for the attached cafe.
You can have light meals (sandwiches, rice balls, reasonably priced) at the cafe, or bring your own lunch and eat out on the lawn in front of you.
Re-entry is possible, so you may want to think about various things.
J Victoria
This is a good center for children from kindergarten to elementary school. You can think of it as a small-scale center that combines a Korean science museum and Kidzania. It is closed on Mondays, so check the operating hours before going.
Hyungsuk Song (Ryan Song)
Admission is $12 per person. It seems to be a mix of Kidzania Korea and Kids Cafe, but I think you will be disappointed when you think of KidZania Korea. Parking is available free of charge in the park parking lot in front of the building.
김영
There is a small restaurant inside, so you can have simple meals such as musubi. Musubi $2, Coffee $1.75 The price is also affordable.
もんもん
The closing time is early, so I have to go in the morning, but the children had a lot of fun! I was happy to have various experiences such as supermarkets and firefighters!
