Reviews of Mississippi Aviation Heritage Museum
Hidden gem in an unsuspecting industrial building! Definitely worth a visit! $14 for adults, $7 for kids. Lots of things for kids to do, and touch. Lots of info to take in and read. Several experimental aircraft with information on each. Many exhibits on all the different segments of aviation in Mississippi! From space, to parachuting to crop dusting. The staff was very friendly and welcoming.
MUST VISIT! We had our son Jett’s 1st birthday party at the museum, and we can’t say enough good things about it. This is such a special place. The staff are so incredibly kind. They provide so many fun and interactive things for kids and adults to do. From the flight simulators, to the airplane theater, to paper airplane making! Plus all of the beautiful vintage planes for memorable photo ops! We will continue to visit the Mississippi Aviation Heritage Museum for years to come 💙✈️
My children ages 2 to 14 really enjoyed this museum. We spent three hours there without even realizing it, and they would’ve stayed longer if they could’ve. The staff was very attentive and there were plenty of exhibits. If you have small children with you, ask to see the play area pretty early so they can be occupied while older people spend time on the other exhibits. Two thumbs up!
My son loves to learn about WWII. We went not long after the museum opened that day and my son stayed all day. He found things to learn and read. And keep him busy all day. We have been back. He absolutely loves this museum. They have planes for everyone. I am still learning one plane from another.
Great museum, so many interactive elements and very informative. One of the best aviation museums we’ve been to, Worth the visit for sure! Francisco is so welcoming and excited to share his knowledge, made the tour exceptional.
What a great find! On vacation we found this gem and both the adults and the kids learned a lot and had fun! This museum is very hands on for kids. My kids were shown around, taught how to drive an airplane simulator, made paper air planes, then raced them! It was the highlight of the day. Hands down one of the best and most interactive museums we have gone to with our kids.
We had a wonderful time exploring this museum. They have a lot of displays and some of them you are even able to get in and take pictures with.
There's some great displays and wonderful aircraft but the real reason to go is the fantastic staff. The flight simulator is an upcharge but it is amazing fun. There's also an interesting display of a pilot from the area who flew for the Ethiopian Air Force during World War II against the Italian invasion, and was instrumental with the Tuskegee airmen.
We loved this little museum! It's small, but interesting and constantly growing. We enjoyed all the interesting information provided by our guide, though would have liked him to pause and give us time to browse and ask questions. Make sure to try the flight simulator!
This was the highlight of our day! What a unique and wonderful museum. We were blessed to meet the curator of this museum (Francisco) who told us many interesting stories about how this museum got started and all the interesting and very generous people who have contributed and continue to support his work.
There are many educational exhibits, intriguing artifacts and interactive experiences (pilot a plane in a simulator!). This museum has only been open for six months and it is truly extraordinary to see what has been developed here and the love that has been poured into every exhibit.
We are official fans of this gem of a museum hiding in the middle of Gulfport. Take your kids, grandkids and students and enjoy a day learning about some very interesting aviators and the history, science and technology of aviation in Mississippi.
We will definitely be back!
A refreshing experience.
I had no idea what to expect. Francisco, the curator, was helping a group of children and didn't notice we came in. He then greeted us with so much enthusiasm that we then knew we were in for a treat. He REALLY loves what he does and his passion is contagious.
He was excited to tell us the stories of how the museum came about by a chain of what I call "God-incidences"!
I knew nothing of aviation, or Mississippi's part in Aviation, but i learned a lot that day. This really turned out to be a diamond in the rough.
There are flight simulators you can play with, which was pretty cool. And lots of history to be soaked up, that I totally had no idea about.
We planned our day wrong, we didn't think we would want to spend much time here, so we packed it in with other events. However, now that we have a taste, we will definitely be back.
This place is AMAZING!
Look for the white building with large glass windows.
So many displays, artifacts, interactive exhibits, flight simulators, STEM activities. We spent 2 hours there but could easily have stayed much longer.
Staff was very helpful and informative.
Lots of room inside for kids to walk around and hands on activities to entertain everyone.
Highly recommend!
I was extremely impressed by Francisco Gonzalez and what he has put together with the team at the Aviation Heritage Museum! The exhibits insightful and the museum flowed well. I also hear they will be expanding in the future! Also I wanted to mention that the long sleeve shirt I bought is my favorite shirt known now. Sometimes places make shirts that are only fun to wear during a vacation but this long sleeve t-shirt is good for anytime.
It was an awesome experience!! They are working hard to add a Vietnam section on the upper level. Excited to see that when it gets done!! Being from Wisconsin it was great to read all aviation history of Mississippi. Francisco Gonzalez gave us a little history how museum got started he is doing a great job!!
Not huge, but in the three hours we were there, we didn't see everything. My 11 year old son is an aviation enthusiast and absolutely loved it. He's already planning his next visit. The staff was incredible. Passionate, kind, knowledgeable employees really made the place to notch.
Educational and fun, so much aviation history to take in. Starting about 1930s all the way to the Space Shuttle. There are real planes, with walls and rooms filled of aviation artifacts. There actually are simulators and historic film footage of pilots that tell of their amazing stories in Mississippi aviation. You can sit in historic planes, and watch modern planes land in real time. Truely great fun and adventure, perfect for history buffs and plane lovers, and children of all ages. Stop by, give yourself time, there are hours of exhibits, education, and fun with many hands on displays.
The designers of the exhibit went all out and made this a need to stop-by destination when in Gulfport MS. If you travel to the coast stop by, you will be glad you did. They offer military discounts.
Very interesting! Had a tour by a lady that was very knowledgeable about the history of the museum. Loved the rooms set up with airplane seats or theater seats to watch video of interviews with veterans.
Having a 16 year old who absolutely loves airplanes and finding a budget-friendly Museum locally is Mom win-win!
You can touch stuff, you can play with stuff, you can ride things, interact with items. It's pretty awesome!
I love this place! I missed the grand opening. But I was very privilidged to visit while it was under construction! I am proud to see a vision become reality! I will be back every chance I get. There is so much history here. It is amazing!
Very informative and fun place! Great for kids and adults. Can easily spend half a day here. A lot of photo ops :)
It was so interesting, and the staff were terrific. My dad and I spent over an hour just learning about aviation history!
4 adults and a soon to be 4 year old LOVED it! This building was the old Rhodes Furniture and is huge- and FILLED with planes, simulators, history, toys, crafts- something for all ages. I HIGHLY recommend bringing the kids- I’ll bring my grandsons again for sure! They also do summer camps M-W in summer for kids interested in aviation. Very impressed with all they had to touch and do there. Hands on fun!
Francisco has a passion for aviation! He is working hard on aviation camps and having the next generation be interested in the field of aviation. My daughter attended a camp and enjoyed it very much!
This place is fantastic especially if you have kids. They have a lot of interactive games for kids. Mr Todd in the stem department will teach them just about anything they want to learn. The guide is super helpful and friendly. They have some cool experimental aircraft and some military and nasa related stuff as well as an exhibit set up on the Tuskegee Airman and the Hurricane Hunters. I'd give em 10 stars but google doesn't have an option for that.
This museum takes at least 3 hours to go through. Mostly interactive and great people showing children everything they need to know about aviation.
They have a lot of good inf. Guess they expect you to waLk around by yourself and read and do it all as there is no guide at least when we were there..
Alot of reading and fun interactive activities. Plan on spending at least 2 hours!
Had a tour with the owner!! Lots to see and some hands-on activities for all ages.
Fransisco and his team have created a beautiful museum here. If you want to soak up the aviation history of the region and the country it’s a must visit. The specimens on display, the historical information and the rich educational opportunities should be a must see when visiting the MS Gulf Coast or if you are a local. Fransisco has poured his heart into this facility and the level of care and love truly shows. From a welcoming handshake, to the conversations and lessons that he shared with my son and I, to when we walked out the door, we were truly struck by every moment.
Thank you for sharing your time and energy with us. We’ll surely return!
Really neat museum hidden in Biloxi! Lots of neat displays to look at and things to do for the younger ones as well! We didn’t try the flight simulator as we had just had lunch, but we come to Biloxi about once a year so we will definitely be back!!!
Hi Francisco. I wanted to extend my thanks and appreciation to you for providing us with an amazing place to have our son's 9th birthday party. The museum was awesome and all the kids had an amazing time.
Thank you again for making sure everything was setup and in order, just as you promised.
Today, will be a day our son will most definitely remember.
Much appreciative.
Thanks,
Jeff and Amy
The museum is a treasure! Something for everyone. Unique, interesting displays, hands-on experiences, and more.
Lots of interesting models and exhibits. Our guide, Francisco was very good!
Great museum with an extensive collection. Hope to be able to go back soon
We had the luck to arrive at the museum when the curator Francisco was there. He gave use an enthusiastic tour of the facility! Our three kids, (7,5,&5) were engaged with the STEM activities he guided them through. The flight simulation was a blast, and the history of local aerospace hero's was amazing. We ended our time there with a friendly paper airplane competition. We could have spent another hour there, but little belly's called for lunch. But we thoroughly enjoyed hands-on learning and an awe-inspiring three hours at the Mississippi Aviation Heritage Museum. Highly recommend this spot to any aerospace enthusiast, old and young.
A bunch of cool planes history and learning the flight sims are fun too.
The staff was amazing. Mr Todd was great and patient with the kids on making paper airplane. The hole experience was great. I highly recommend. You are able to even touch and get inside of a airplane.
If you have an interest in airplanes and/or flight history, this is worth your time. Friendly and very helpful staff will guide you if needed. I enjoyed the cessna flight simulator and my thanks to Todd for all the time he spent assisting me.
An amazing place to go, and has a lot of history.
All the ppl there are awesome. Great place to see and learn.
I honestly arrived not expecting too much, but was quickly impressed by the staff, detail, and amount of interactive activities. We were there for 2 hours and my 4 year old didn’t want to leave. He loved the flight simulator (as did I), the control tower, sitting in the various air crafts and finally playing in the kids area. Can’t wait to go back the next time we are in town!
A must stop in the Gulfport area. Great hands on exhibits with wonderful staff that work hard for all to experience all of the wonderful parts of the museum. Kids had a great time and we were able to enjoy it as parents as well. A great stop and not crowded so they are able to provide an engaging activity for kids while still being covid friendly and safe. Loved the stories from the staff as well.
What a wonderful museum!! Francisco was so welcoming, kind, and passionate about aviation and the museum. This isn't your average museum, we learned so much during our visit. Todd, the education director, spent so much time with us. He was so knowledgeable and willing to answer all of our questions. Both of their passion for aviation is contagious!! We are looking forward to visiting again and bringing our friends and family with us!!!
Awesome place for everyone! Lots to see and do. The manager was awesome! He interacted with everyone and was really helpful and informative. Definitely will go back!
The Museum is a great place to go... they have done a wonderful job... Thank you for being in Gulfport.. very interesting..
This is definitely a place I will come back to. They have really fun flight simulators and they tought me how to make the best paper air plane. The employees there are really nice and one of them basically was my free tour guide. I would definitely recommend going.
This is not your average museum I have never learned so much at a museum like this, the tour guides are very interactive and actually teach you something, - I let my son write the first part of this review. He’s been interested in aviation for the last year in this very unassuming museum really put him into high gear. If you come here and don’t find something interesting it’s because you weren’t paying attention.
More than meets the eye! Planes, history and fun technology. We had a blast with simulators. Today there was a presentation from the son of a Tuskegee airman, mr. Spencer. We will be back!
From the moment we volunteered to help open this museum, we knew the owner was passionate and determined to bring true value to a part of MS history left out of traditional history books. You can feel the enormous amount of dedication they have and souls out into this particular museum. There is no other like it. Definitely not one on the MS coast and is a must visit.
The time Francisco took to show our grandson all of the wonderful things made a huge difference to us and the boy. We will definitely come back again ! Thank you so much !
This is a great experience. Exhibits are very nice and educational. Staff is friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend going here if you enjoy aviation.
This is a very good place to learn about the history of aviation. It is family-friendly, with fun activities and simulations for people of all ages. You even get a tour from the owner himself. There is a lot of potential for this place. I look forward to seeing it expand in the future.
My son and I love the aviation museum. So much to learn and everyone is passionate about what they do. Great place for young kids!
Super interesting, super informative, lots to see and to learn. Little interactive games for the kids. Very frindly staff. Definitely a must see in the area.
This museum is a true gem. I advise everyone to tour this museum. We will definitely be coming back. My son really enjoyed himself.
This museum was well worth the visit. The museum curator was wonderful, and very informative. Have to try the flight simulator, I crashed and burned twice!! The flight instructor was great and very attentive and knowledgeable. Will definitely go back.
Awesome experience. I took my grandsons to the museum for the first time and was very impressed with the quality of the museum. I highly recommend for anyone interested in the history of aviation in general and aviation in Mississippi.
Very friendly staff. Not huge but nice collection of items and information.
Was pleasantly surprised. Had a lot more things to see than I had expected. Was a very interesting view of Mississippi aviation history. It’s still a work in progress but seems to be a good step in the right direction.
A great collection of MS Aviation history with neat experimental aircraft and flight simulator activities. A fairly new, small, yet growing museum. Definitely worth a good long look. Much dedication went into the building of this museum.
A lot of love and care was clearly put into this museum. Me and my sister had an excellent time viewing their exhibits, and the motion flight sim was a phenomenal experience.
Grandchildren want to go again.
Very nice place, informative and much to see. Fairly new, I am looking forward to watching them grow. Must Visit!
Fun, Interesting & Interactive. Good Family Fun.
Mississippi aviation has a rich history both past and present, and this museum is vital to educating the public of that fact. Becky and I visted on Easter Sunday and it really neat to visit. Both locals and tourists should put this place on their radar scope and check it out.
We came near closing time and the guy who runs the museum gave us a personal tour and stayed late very great person
Our boys loved it! They spent a lot of time showing them the basics of flight. We’ll be back again soon!
I brought a group of children from the YMCA today. They had a blast. We will definitely be back!!!
This may not be the best funded museum, but the love and effort that has been put into it is amazing. Highly educational and it is amazing just how much the people of Mississippi have contributed to aviation.
Very interesting museum. My wife and I spent two hours and could have stayed longer. Don’t let the outside for you there is lots of interesting history here and passionate staff.
Enjoyed our visit for different reasons. Hubby loved the patches and memorabilia along with historical stories while I loved the interactive stations like landing a small plane or landing the space shuttle.
Awesome experience! I now volunteer to help the museum an outstanding experience!

Wonderful place, especially for children to have interactive activities! The planes are very interesting and they have interactive videos for adults also!
Took my 2 & 3 year old this weekend. The kids had so much fun in the play area. Mr. Todd showed them a balloon trick and gave them these awesome paper planes. What makes this place special is that they allow your children to interact with some of the displays. We combined it with a visit to the train museum across the street. Great overall experience! Will be coming back
A fun and interesting place! We enjoyed learning about the history, trying our hand at the simulators. They did a great job and nice area for kids to place as well!
