Reviews of Grand Rapids Art Museum
Liz DeBoer
The Grand rapids art museum was surprisingly nice. It has an extensive array of art. It has a lovely layout and modern feel. It's pieces range from hundreds of years ago to quite recent. I would not recommend it for a typical child or group of children. But it would be lovely for a group of friends or a date night. The staff is nice, the energy is calm, and the art is comparable to that of larger city art museums, though I'll admit the collection is smaller.

We visited the GRAM specifically for the Jim Henson exhibit but, of course, walked the entire gallery, appreciating all the beautiful art work. Personally, it was a very interesting exhibit with stories and sketch art that I'd never otherwise know existed let alone see and read! So glad we caught it before it moved on!

I brought my daughter to the Light the Night event at the GRAM. It was put on by the Kaufman Interfaith Institute of Grand Valley. It was a very nice event with fun and engaging activities for the whole family. It was also a beautiful night to go ice skating just out front at Rosa Park Circle. It's a beautiful art museum!

The space is used very nicely for being a smaller art museum, we saw Kara Walker's images. It's nice to know you don't always have to go to a larger city to see some interesting work. You can get in free with your bridge card!

Great place. Small though. Two fun exhibits while I was there, Jim Henson and Salvadore Dali. Very well presented. Tickets were pretty reasonable for Jim Henson but otherwise free on Wednesdays. Other days of the week cost.

Good Museum, specially if you appreciate Arts. Ground floor is under renovation, so nothing to see there. 1st floor has Jim Henson exhibition which needs 10$ entry fee. But ground and 2nd floors' art exhibition are free on Tuesday and Thursday. There are some interesting paintings on the 2nd floor. It will take maximum an hour or two to see the whole Museum.

One of my favorite places to go when I have free time. Their collection of art and the collections they host are always so beautiful and interactive. I’ve been maybe twice but the pictures I took are from the Jim Henson collection. Also for GV students, the bus stops right by it!

I had never been in this new art museum. Having grown up in Grand Rapids, I feel sentimental attachment to the old museum location, however, I paid a visit to the new location while back in town. Free attendance on Thursdays thanks to Meijer! Some familiar artwork still remains and new as well. The 2nd floor was closed because they were switching to new exhibit. Overall, lovely night at the museum.

As someone that doesn't know much about art, there were so many works from famous artists that surprised me. Nice to get free admission on the Thursday night to get to walk through the gallery.
Band played outside the museum with beverages for purchase. Nice evening.

Wonderful museum with great exhibits. Centrally located right downtown. My favorite was the Andy Warhol animals. Great place to hang out for a few hours in Grand Rapids
