Reviews of Forney Museum of Transportation
Benjamin Welch
We had come to town from Texas and looking for something to do on an unexpected free day. We found plenty of parking upon arrival and entered into the gift shop and the initial gallery. Tremendous collection of scale models and diecast vehicles to start out the adventure and then we moved into the main galleries. Incredible collection of civilian vehicles from the past 120 years and a wide range of transportation from the same period. The Big Boy train is truly impressive and hard to fathom it actually moving at 60 miles an hour 😮We did enjoy our trip but the only caveat is if you have young children, they will find a little to do except climbing into a few vehicles. There’s not much to do for them and my seven and five year old were bored quickly due to a lack of interaction. But still a great museum and looking forward to a repeat visit when I have more time to look around for myself :)

This place is a work of art...literally. Every car in here is beautifully restored. Wonderful to look at and interesting to read about. It's not just cars though. Its Planes, Trains, and Automobiles only without John Candy and Steve Martin.
C.A. Harris
Excellent museum. It has some amazing vehicles, some with great ties to historical figures! There are trains, planes, automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles, & even a little red tricycle identical to the one my kids had as toddlers! There is one area that rotates different types of autos every few months.
Deb and Kofi Saeed
It was a nice outing for the family! We went to see Big Boy and Boy was it Big. There's Trains, old cars, motorcycles, bikes, some flying vehicles, race car and so much more. They switch out the vehicles every 3 months. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Tony Hayes
This may be the best museum in Denver!
The Trains and cars are cool for anybody. I wouldn't consider myself a car enthusiast, but am for history, and this whole place tells an amazing story.
Don't miss the mini trainset in the back!
Anna Smolyan
Absolutely amazing. I can't believe I've lived in Denver for more then 30 years and never been to this museum before. Cars from as early as 1905, public transportation, motorcycles, planes, trains, milk wagon, school bus - this museum has everything.
Anna Sidhom
This museum is very cool! It's extremely large and has a huge variety of items for display. Very interesting collection and beautiful cars!
Chris Hoekstra
A Truly impressive Museum. Be prepared to spend at least an hour if not more, depending on your level of car interest. There's probably at least 150 automobiles. Plus at least 6 trains, a couple of planes, 50ish motorcycles, and buggies. At $15 it is worth the money to visit.
Óverall an easy 5 star review. Would I return? Absolutely, there's so much to see that you could easily miss things.
On a side note: They have Amelia Earhart's car. Very cool.
Daniel Short
This place was amazing! If you are looking for something to do in the Denver area, and you like cars, trains, motorcycles, bicycles, or anything cool or mechanical, add this to your list now! And, you can have private events there too so book a company party or something!
Rachal
What a cool museum! Such an eclectic collection of transportation vehicles. I loved seeing the huge trains and all the antique automobiles. This museum is well worth checking out. Highly recommend 👌
Randall Thompson
Very good museum. Various modes of transportation which makes the museum more interesting than just a car or train museum. Beautiful Cars, motorcycles and trains. Worth the stop
Tak C Hung (Sammy)
You don't want to miss this gem place, They have a l lot of cars, motorcycles, airplanes, trains, and etc.
It worth every penny and time spent in there. Be advised, empty and charge up your phone / camera, because it has a lot internet things to take photos off.
Antonio Salce
This is such an amazing museum! You absolutely need to check it out. I found this place throu word of mouth from two strangers at another museum. It has plane, trains, cars, motorcycles, bike, you name it. Come see their wonderful collection and meet their friendly staff! I for one highly recommend this place!
Russell Nagle
What a fun spot.
If you're into trains - they have trains
If you're into motorcycles - they have motorcycles.
If you're into cars... You get the idea.
It's not too far from some lunch places as well (short drive, medium walk)
Tom Jones
Watch out for the entrance sign to find the entry!! The collection is amazing and well cared for. The Big Boy is worth the price of admission.
Ryan Walker
Such a gem — for car lovers first and foremost, but also something that a history buff would like too. Awesome collection — we got through it in 45 minutes, but you could stick around for an 90 minutes of more.
Christina ODonnell
Really nice museum and it is much larger than it appears on the outside.
Very nice vintage displays of Trains, Bikes, cars, clothes, toys and airplanes.
We spent almost 3 hours touring. Cost per adult $14.
Debra Peigowski
My husband and I had such a great time exploring this museum. There is so much to see and so much historical information.
Karen Korody
What a great museum. I even got my daughter who is not interested in cars to ooh and aah over all the cars. Definitely plan on going back and think everyone should go at least once. Also the trains, motorcycles, bicycles and airplanes were cool and to see all the different Colorado license plates from the beginning was way cool.
holly hogan
Bigger than it looks! The trains were amazing to see up close. The price is good for what you get, we went on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't busy at all. If you have kids who love trains and cars, this is a great place to take them. Also great for adults who like old cars!
Deplorable DeadHead
What a Treasure!
My new favorite museum in Denver! An amazing collection of transportation history.
Olivia Whitlock
I took my residents from a skilled nursing facility here for a guided tour. We all (including myself) had a great time! Damion was our tour guide and he was great! Very patient and informative while laughing and having a good time with us.
Friso Schlottau
This is an incredible museum with a broad range of interesting vehicles on display. The big locomotive really towers over everything, and the cars, trucks, and motorcycles are excellent! We were lucky enough to have Rick show us around - he was very knowledgable and a great guide! Thank you again!
Kylie May
Such a fun museum! My son absolutely loved walking next to the huge trains and seeing all the cool old cars! There were also bikes and motorcycles from all eras and even a helicopter and small plane! If you’re looking for something fun to do in Denver that’s not too expensive and will keep everyone in the family entertained this museum is an awesome choice!
Kirsty Strobridge
Such a fun museum! If you haven't been you NEED to.
George C
Great collection of vehicles with a wide range of years on display.
Molly Detwiler
A wonderful museum of transportation vehicles such as cars, trains, bicycles, motorcycles, and planes.
Allan L (Boston)
Amazing collection of many modes of transportation. Many museums of older cars that are about as good as Forney. But add on full-size train cars/engines, bicycles, motorcycles, and you've struck gold!
Barry Wilson
This was a cool location for the Farmers Insurance Agent Forum. I enjoyed the museum. Thank you.
Brian Ulrich
I came here for work function this time. I had been here once before, years ago. They have a large variety of vehicles on display from planes to trains, automobiles, motorcycles and bicycles. After speaking to a volunteer I was made aware that they change the main display of cars every three months. So a return visit is in order.
David Uphoff
Interesting assortment of vehicles. Big Boy 4005 was wonderful to see and stand next to. I would have rated 5 stars with more cars on display.
Steffy M
This is the most amazing collection of vintage cars I’ve seen in quite a while. I could’ve stayed there for days reading every plaque. Felt like a hidden Jem there was maybe 3 other people there the whole time we were there. From trains to bikes to tricycles has something for everyone.
Joni Luchtenburg
We really enjoyed our visit to the Forney Museum of Transportation. It was interesting to see all the old Transportation they had back in the day.
We especially liked the old trains.
Victor Wang
Amazing and comprehensive museum that covers every aspect of transportation you can imagine with a collection that is unrivaled by museums anywhere in the world. From trains, to vehicles driven by multiple propulsion methods and of all shapes and sizes. Two to three to four wheelers are all covered in fantastic detail and many exhibits include the full gamut of a vehicle’s manufacturer from across the spectrum of almost a hundred years.
Went during Denver arts week which happens during the first Saturday of November where multiple art museums graciously open up their doors for free between 5-10pm.
Museum admission is not expensive on most other days and it’s an absolute must see if you have any interest in seeing large machinery and learning about the history of transportation as we know it today. Not terribly difficult to get to via public transportation but it does require a decent walk from the nearest train station.
Ann Randolph
We spent the afternoon in Denver with my Dad. He loves trains, planes and automobiles. This was a really cool exhibit. If you haven't been you really should go. This visit they featured LOWRIDERS. All sorts of modifications and artwork. Indian motorcycle fans would be impressed. And they have one of the Union Pacific Big Boys. Much more than this short list. Takes a couple of hours tops for the casual visitor to appreciate one of Denver's hidden gems.
Pirozhock S Kotom
Awesome place!! Even if you’re not in vintage cars, you will love it! Cars and motorcycles and all the bikes are sooo amazing! Staff is very professional and friendly. Ask them how did the museum had moved from Downtown Denver to this location 😺. Take beautiful outfit, take a friend with good camera, and make the most awesome photo shoot in your life! 🚗 🚙
Troy Laurienti
Super quiet... That part was nice. Was hoping to see the General Lee... In the movie car section. But it was removed I assume..🤔 over all some cool stuff to see. Really enjoyed the Rio Grande GP30 on display.People were friendly. …
Mike Crowell
Very cool collection with a wide variety of historic vehicles. Lots to look at, but you can see everything in a couple of hours.
Tanner Pike
This was by far the coolest car museum that I have ever been to. Had an amazing variety of not just cars. But planes, trains, and bikes too! This is without a doubt one of Denver’s hidden gems. You could spend anywhere from an hour to four hours. I was there for about 2. The $10-$12 admission is well worth it. Highly recommended!
REVY MERCENARY
I loved it we spent the day over there and enjoy ourselves we got to see the big boy 4005my God it was amazing way bigger than I thought it was. Next time I plan to bring my family.
Jason Scofi
Stumbled upon this museum by chance and was not disappointed! $12 adult admission and I spent about 90 minutes here, it wasn't overly large, but still worth my while since they have a BIG BOY on display! There's only a few left in existence, so you can't put a price on seeing one of these relics!
As far as the automobiles, they have a good selection, and have the appropriate amount of background on each one!
Rene G
Very extensive amount of autos, motorcycles and bicycles from years back. Good history information found here, on autos too. Displays are refresh, to show different types and models vehicles, about every couple months. Several trains in display, with charts explaining their origin and use. "Big Boy" train here, one of the largest ever made in the world. Staff was very helpful and friendly.
Daniel Watkins
A lot of beautiful, antique cars, airplanes, motorcycles & trains (including one of the biggest). And lesser known manufacturers & interesting designs (a flying, amphibious car).
Becca Algozzino
What a fun little museum!
Shubham patil
Amazing collection of vintage cars, bikes and bicycles.
The place is in Denver Downtown. I had some time to kill during layover and visited this place. The entry fee is $12 per adult and it is worth it. You get to see vintage cars along with their stories.
Some cars are donated and they have a proper documentation of who was the donar and when was it donated. Some cars stay for shorter period and get moved to another museum to display. If you are a car enthusiast, please do visit this place.
Allison Wright
Absolutely loved this museum! Our main purpose of going was to see the Big Boy! We loved seeing it but also loved the rest of the museum! It is right behind the Denver Coliseum and apparently there were graduations going on. The museum was selling their parking lot spots. We didn't have to pay to park when I told them we were actually going to the museum but it was annoying to have to wait in line to get into the parking lot.
Christopher Riblett
Too many vehicles to list all makes all models all types cars planes trains motorcycles bicycles The list goes on and on! Five stars and I'm coming back again sometime!
M V
This museum, located in the RiNo district of Denver, is an interesting, and fun way to spend an hour if you’re in town. They have tons of cars, trains, tractors, carriages, motorcycles, bicycles etc. from various points in history. They also have a few famous movie cars. IMHO the stars of the museum are the trains. I hope to visit again post-COVID to see some of the exhibits from the inside.
They have a small but fun souvenir shop as well. Highly recommended for something fun to do in the city.
Scott Wilson
Great little museum with one insanely huge steam locomotive.
Kennedy S. Pearce
Amazing! An engineer and an a automenchanic-loving girl's dream going here. Even of that's not you and your dream, it's still very interesting place to check out and it's only $8 per ticket! With a ticket, you get the chance to see hundreds of exhibits and displays of transportation over the centuries; which I find PRICELESS. I'd say it is definitely worth checking out, if you haven't already.
Frank Shannon
This is a neat museum to see some good examples of various transportation vehicles. My girlfriend and I stopped in here while visiting Denver from Maryland and spent over 2 hours walking the exhibits and checking out the gallery of diecast models in the lobby. Cars, trains, planes, bicycles, motorcycles...you name it, they've got an example of it.
As stated...allow plenty of time to tour this attraction!
Bobby Williams
I always try to stop in at the Forney Museum at least every year or so when visiting Denver to see what they are currently displaying. They rotate some of their artifacts and items on loan yearly so there are always new things to see. And for train buffs they always have their Big Boy 4005 steam locomotive on display - indoors! Due to covid they no longer allow visitors in the 4005's cab, but with climate controlled comfort you can take your time on photos of those close up details of the running gear.
OdysseyFan Dan
Masks not required. 5 stars just for that. Not crowded at all at opening self guided tour is fine there is so much to see we focused on the trains but the cars and motorcycles are interesting.
Ash Eli
Quiet. Wouldn't say this museum is exactly kid friendly as you can't touch ANYTHING. The staff was friendly. Fair warning: If you bring a purse or backpack, they will ask you to lock it up, for free, in the lobby area.
Jeff Guidry
Beautiful museum. Amazing collection and friendly volunteer staff. Definitely recommend!
Deborah Anfinson
Loved the vehicles they had here. They change the displays every 3 months. Wish I could see the next one....1957, year I was born.
The big boy locomotive they had was amazing and HUGE!
Motorcycles there as well. Anything transportation related. Even had a helicopter.
Tricky to get into the parking lot. You have to go through another parking lot first.
Would go again!
Lauren Forkell
Great place to see old cars, planes, trains, and carriages! I must do again
Simon Laufer
Very nice place for parents and kids. A lot of locomotives, wagons, cars, motorcycles and bicycles. Lots of Honda motorcycles and Indians.
Wesley Fuller
Fantastic experience. Cars, trains and motorcycles of all errors. Awesome guides. Be sure to make time to see it all.
g s
What a museum! Absolutely loved it! They have a very nice collection, yet they’re unassuming. They’ve got steam engines, including a big boy, vintage cars right from the Model T, to the first Mustang to the Mark IV, bicycles, Amelia Earhart’s car, to an aero plane and even a helicopter. All of us, including kids loved it.
Shannon C
Took two teenaged boys and they absolutely enjoyed. They had a wide variety of cars, trains, planes to see. Great little spontaneity outing!
Hannah Henderson
This a great place to visit for all ages. Very well planned lay out and displayed. I was impressed by the availability of strollers or wheelchairs at the entrance for those who need them. The staff is warm and helpful.
Michael Hillman
Interesting display of historical vehicles & trains. Could have been "cooler/trendier/hipper" but was satisfied with the level of information provided. Suffice it to say, there's as much to see as their is potential to make it interesting enough to want to learn more about.
Dianne Boyer
Wonderful museum. They change things every 3 months.
Chris Peterson
Pretty cool collection. Didn't know they had rotating exhibits. Was Studebaker when we went. Trains and motorcycles were pretty neat.
McKenna Bregman
The perfect place to spend a few hours and be socially distant! The inventory changes so we will be back to see what new things they have to see. Really enjoyed the place.
Zertihun Merineh
Since the time I walked in until I walked out I was amazed . All stuff amazing and interesting . I would like to say for public, to know General Transportation story go to Forney Museum of Transportation at Denver co.
Carol Bateman
My sweet son-in-law took us for my husband's birthday. We had a wonderful time. Look forward to going again soon.
Greg Mills
This is a fairly wonderful and eclectic transport museum with the whole Planes Trains and automobiles thing covered! Brilliant early Americana and a number of auto manufacturers you’ve likely never heard of, a room with nothing but motorbikes and bicycles, and the biggest steam train in the world. Oh yeah and Amelia Earhart’s yellow convertible Kissel Gold Bug: it’s awesome.
The museum is volunteer run so be sure to leave a bit extra in the tip jar.
S Harris
You have to check out this place if you haven't it is really AWESOME!! Boys or girls will love it if all ages! A must go if you live or visit Denver!
Julie Padilla
It was awesome, very educating with the history of older vehicles from the 20's- 30's and 40's. Very nice. We enjoyed 😉 …
Ryan Hogg
Really great museum! My favorite were all of the trains. I wanted to go specifically to see the big boy locomotive not realizing there was more trains there. My favorites to see were there snowblower and the smaller narrow gauge steam engine. They also have another steam engine, diesel engine, some classic passenger cars, and a caboose. All very interesting and cool to see.
I am not as much a car, coach, bike, or plane guy but they have really cool collections of each of those.
If you haven't been to the Forney you should go!
Brian Dimoff
Great place to spend an afternoon, friendly staff, fascinating pieces of history, and well worth the trip. The tickets are more than fair, especially for an all volunteer operation.
Anthony Yaboytone
Loved my visit here..Learned alot about the cars at this location and saw alot of bikes as well. It's well worth the money I paid which was like 12 bucks or so.
Steve Suslik
Very significant collection...we'll displayed and interesting.
Jevon Tresner
What a hidden gem! It was much more than I expected. There were huge train engines, 50-60 cats, old bicycles, motorcycles and more. If your kids like old transportation this place is well worth your time.
Terry Deeds
I was drawn there for the Indian Motorcycle collection, but therewas so much more. They even had lockers for our day packs. Planes, trains, automobiles and motorcycles.
Kyle
Very good museum. Has historic trains, cars, bicycles, motorcycles, and even a few aircraft and watercraft. I have a 5 year old obsessed with cars and trains. It was definitely a solid way to spend a couple hours.
James Ellison
There is a lot of history and cool things to see. It is expensive. Not terrible, but not great.
Michael Miller
A vast and unique selection of transportation related machines, accessories, and hardware. The displays are organized and laid out beautifully, with plenty of educational information. The museum also provides information on iconic figure in transportation history, like Bessie Coleman.
Those representing the museum are very friendly and eager to help.
Our family had a great experience at one of the coolest places I have visited.
Much thanks to the whole organization.
Elliott Lezov
A bespoke collection of curated exquisite planes, trains and automobiles (pun intended) that will surely awake your inner child's curiosity and amusement!
Jake Kulenty
Excellent place to visit for car, train, and motorcycle lovers. Lots to see. I went to see the lowriders (temp exhibit).
Caleb Joyce
Pretty nice collection ranging from die cast toys, huge trains, motorcycles, carriages, and on exhibit winter 2018/2019, vintage camping trailers. If only you were allowed to peak in them closer
Jim Fencl
This place is huge and has an amazing array of cars and trains (and other stuff).
Rachel Fisher
They have some neat vehicles, motorcycles, and trains!
michael bobbitt
We had our annual fundraiser there and it is a fantastic venue. Staff and volunteers are very friendly!
Anna Ayala
Pretty cool place. Planes, trains, automobiles, and some sweet bikes. Loved the history behind it all.
Jon Hall
Really great collection of cars, plus motorcycles, trains, and a few helicopters and planes. All of the cars are immaculate.
Christen Lawless
This museum is awesome! I'm not that interested in cars - but this museum has a ton more than that. Bikes, skates, motorcycles, old wagons, trains, and even a rickshaw! They even have a smaller section of diecast and model cars. If you're interested in vehicles, other cultures, or anything with history you'll love it. Great for kids too (as long as you can keep them contained - there are only velvet ropes separating you from the displays).
Brian Hill
The place is huge and really does cover all eras and modes of transportation. It's a must-see for transport buff.
Chris G
The Website and photos dont do this place justice. From the outside your thinking ok, but once you enter it is magnificent. Beautiful collection of Historic Cars. Loved the Trains and a very nice collection of Indian Motorcycles. So glad I stopped.
Sloane Marshall
Such a nice surprise! Took my Dad to the Forney Museum the day after Xmas... we both really enjoyed the trains, amazing how BIG they were. And my Dad knew every 70 s and 80s car without reading the Placard. Such a fun shared experience!
Chardonnay Tomczak
This place was great. I took the kids there for something to do and that was educational. The kids loved it and they got to see so much history in one room. It was awesome
Stang Genius
They have some very unique and rare transportation items and if you're into that, it's very interesting!
Dale Wight
A nice museum of transportation. Much more than we expected. If you like cars, motorcycles, bicycles, and trains, this museum won't disappoint.
Leighton Scott
I had a blast here. The museum staff were polite, informative and professional. Some of the largest locomotives ever made are here. As well as a neat collection of Indian motorcycles. Really fun.
Jonathan Perkins
This place has some cool and interesting pieces, I especially like some of the small planes and old pickup trucks. Awesome place to look back at the history of transportation.
Edward Pettijohn
I am not sure the cost of the museum as someone paid my part but sure it was reasonable. The parking was good and we found it fairly easy with the navigation. The museum has a train, a airplane, horse buggies, cars, bicycles, toys and motorcycles. They had a gift shop and clean bathrooms. I didn't see anyone to answer questions other than the clerk that sold the tickets. I saw a sign that it is non profit and looking for volunteers so maybe we hit it at the wrong time. I would go back again it is interesting.
Alexander Kennedy
Very cool museum, all kinds of cars, trains, planes, bikes, motorcycles. Great visit!
P B
I am not a car or train enthusiast, but I enjoyed seeing the evolution from horse drawn cars to more modern modes of transportation. If your like match box cars , there is a nice display. They have trains, motorcycles, bikes, trolley car, a few planes and a lot of historic cars. They have cars you may have seen in old movies. You may find yourself taking a trip down memory lane.
Roger Mcgough
There is alot of cool vehicles packed into a rather small building. We enjoyed it.
Leuka Rust
You get to sit in a couple of cars. It was amazing to see the evolution of vehicles through time.
If you appreciate cars from before your time, this is a good place.
Duncan Malloch (ShifterBrain)
Went to see the Triumph exhibit with my dad (he had a TR4 back in the 1960s). As always, a great time at the Forney!
Donald “Don” Hoffmann
Wonderful museum with a large and wide variety I've transportation-related artifacts
Natalie Capron
Excellent museum, I hope it will be around for a long time.
Britt Wilson
Nice museum, some cool things to see,
Jessie Mihalovich
It was a good experience, just a large building with old motorcycles, cars, trucks and trains and planes. It was over priced in our opinion, $15-20 a person would be reasonable for what it is. Depending on how much you read about each car it may take you an hour to get through.
Donald Gallimore
As many times as I've been in and through Denver, I've never had the opportunity to visit the Forney. It has an extensive collection from the arguably largest steam locomotive, a Union Pacific Big Boy #4005 to some of the earliest bicycles. They have a large collection of trains, automobiles, motorcycles and bicycles grouped nicely in a very modern and clean facility. Good graphics to in the display. Definitely returning on a future trip.
Ms. E
A very unique place. I really enjoyed taking a trip back to the past.
Bryce B
Absolutely awesome. My wife took me here for fathers day today, and it was so cool. Great price for an awesome experience. The only thing that wouldve made it better was having my grandpa there to tell me all about the old cars. So cool
Carmen Cooley-Graham
As a director of another auto museum in San Diego this is a must see hidden gem. Some of the rarest and finest of automobiles and real full size trains. the staff is extremely friendly and informative. Truly a hidden must see when visiting Denver and something for everyone in the family/group.
Nicholas DeWolfe
This place is great! We just so happened to show up on a customer appreciation day and was let in for free which was such a pleasant suprise! We love visiting places like this and glad to see people still keeping these amazing relics alive!
Christy Adam
This was a ton of fun! Lots of different types of transportation.
Craig Porter
Quite a few well-maintained cars, trucks, trains, motorcycles, and other vehicles. If you like old vehicles, this is the place for you!
Sir Nite
Really nice place to go see if you into old model cars and trains
DB Wilson
What a fun place. Great for all ages.
Cassandra Perry
An amazing experience! Classic cars, trains, airplanes, motorcycles and so much more! We spent hours looking around!
Renee Femmer
I've been several times through the years. Took my three year old grandson this time on a Friday morning in August. He was fascinated with the HUGE locomotives, motorcycles and cars. We spent about an hour looking at all of it. Three years and under are free. Discount for 65 and up. They have a souvenir shop. Clean bathrooms. They do not allow purses, backpacks, food or drink. Masks are required, however, it was not crowded. Very pleasant. I think it is also wheelchair accessible. Plenty of parking.
Philip DiCiero
Wide variety of transportation. Lots but not too much detail on each exhibit. The rarity of what their collection contains is incredible.
Robert Harper
Unbelievable!!!! The staff is so awesome and knowledgeable!!!
Mike Kempin
Planes, trains, and automobiles with a bunch of motorcycles and other oddities thrown in. The Big Boy locomotive is something you need to see. We spent about 90 minutes there.
Bob
This is great. So much to see. It is worth a trip.
Susan Branch Towne
Amazing collection of autos, cycles, every manner of transportation and of course Big Boy, the train.
M. Wang
The glory of industrial design in the 20th century.

I've been to a number of transportation museums in my life. This one is DEFINITELY in my top favorites.
With autos across MANY decades, trains, and EXTREMELY unique vehicles... This place is AWESOME!
Chuck R
Car Lover's Dream! So many great cars you get to see up close. They even rotate years out for different special events.
Phil Finley
History abounds in this museum! There is something for everyone! Trains, planes and automobiles are plentiful as well as horse driven carriages and every other kind of transportation that has been used since the earliest days.
Alicia Aringdale
An expected gem in Denver. My son wanted to go here for his birthday and we had a great time. There were a lot of cool things to see. We especially loved the Union Pacific Big Boy.
Maureen Sheppard
So many beautifully restored autos on display, accompanied by descriptions, statistical information and other interesting facts! And there is a restored BIG BOY engine which is simply amazing to look at and walk beside. There are several other train engines and cars as well! This Museum is filled with all types and modes of transportation! Quite a collection of Honda and Indian motorcycles, as well as early bicycles. Right now they are featuring a large display of Triumph sports cars. There are models in there I never knew existed, much less ever seen! Beautifully restored, too.
This could be a little tedious for young children, or anyone who doesn't have an interest in cars, trains, or motorcycles.
This is my 2nd time there ( in 3 years) and I found it even more interesting this time.
S. Van Court
Nice collection of various forms of transportation. Some real classic vehicles, including a Big Boy locomotive.
Stacey Lussi
This place was amazing. It's truly a transportation exhibition. It had trains, planes and automobiles.
Patrick Porter
A wonderful collection of cars, trains and motorcycles. The staff is friendly and professional.
Jackie Jones
Awesome museum had alot of unique items
Angela Killip
Very cool place! I love the train cars!!
Bryson McHardy
This is a cool museum. Many types of transport from the last 200 years are represented, autos buggies bikes motor cycles trains and planes. Well worth the entry fee and good 2 to 3 hours at least.
Jason Knighton
Variety of things to see. All indoors and air conditioned. Should be a must see if in the area. From trains to cars to bicycles. An airplane and helicopter.
Tom Noble
Interesting collection of antique cars, a huge steam locomotive, antique motorcycles and bicycles. Amelia Earhart's 1923 Kissel roadster is a highlight.
Michael Ruiz
Love this unusual automobile/transportation museum! I greatly enjoyed these various items they have for display. Go & visit it!
Paula Silva
Didn't find herbie. . . but there is so much in there that who knows where he is! Could have spent days in here . . . and I'm not even a car enthusiast.
Joel Johnson
A very interesting place. A great trip back through time showcasing many modes of transportation. Including cars, trains, bikes, motorcycle, planes, and helicopters. Educational and fun place to visit.
Dawn Ables
This place is a hidden gem!! I had a friend staying with me from out of town and he found this place. I actually drive around this area of town pretty regularly and had no idea this was there. But we had a great time and it was a cool place with a bunch of awesome cars and trains motorcycles bikes and even helicopter and planes. It was reasonably priced I think it was $12/per person which isn't bad considering we were there for almost an hour and a half looking at everything. I would definitely reccommend if your in the area or just looking for something to do in Denver!!
chris carter
Friendly and good for everyone. Easy parking, great indoor rotating exhibits and collections.
Beth Nichols
Super cool! Love being able to get up on the Big Boy! Impressive motorcycle collection, too!
Christopher Hagen
Fascinating history of all sorts of ground transportation!
Jim K
More of a museum of personal transportation with lots of cars and motorcycles. Very friendly staff, and kind of close to public transport. There is a train station a short rental bike away
Jen Holm
This museum is off the map a bit. However when you locate it and go inside, it is an excellent surprise. Nostalgic experiences await you as you walk through transpersonal history with Amelia Earnhardt, REO Speedwagon, Babydoll Tivoli, Laura Ingalls Wilder and more! Good surprise.
Mireya Chavez
We were visiting Denver and decided to stop at the museum. There is a lot of road repairs in the area so it was hard getting to the museum. Once we got there we weren't sure if we were at the right place. Entrance seemed odd and awfully small. To our surprise it's a lot bigger than it looks. The employees were friendly and willingly to answer questions. I was surprised to see how lonely the museum was not very many visitors. We really enjoyed seeing all the different transportation models. They are in amazing condition. My husband and 11 year old son also enjoyed it. Highly recommended.
Alex Bruce
Great museum with allot of different cars bikes and trains
Steve Hunt
This is a great museum with a little of everything! Well worth the stop when in Denver!
Dave Clayton
What a cool transportation museum. Tons of cars, motorcycles, trains and other cool pieces. They have a rotating exhibit so check what it is before going.
Robert Blauvelt
Great collection of cars, trains, planned and motorcycles. Allow about 2.5 how.
Kevin Emery
A fun walk through time with many different modes of transportation
Heather Lyons
We took 8 people ages 12 to 76 to check out the Forney museum, we spent over two hours and everyone enjoyed every minute. There is so much to see and learn about cars , locomotives, planes, and motorcycles. Thank you Forney museum we thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon.
Jonathan Goddard
My favorite museum ever. Everyone had a blast!
Jess Pollock
This little place really impressed me. There were more pieces to look at than I was expecting. Worth the time to stop and look.
Leo Mendoza
Love this place!! Great museum to visit.
Pete Compo
This was a wonderful surprise, with a lot more to see than I expected. The exhibits are very accessible with brief histories of each. I got there late in the day and only got to spend 2 hours, but could easily have spent 4 or more hours to really take everything in and spend more time at the exhibits. I would recommend this for anyone, family-friendly and accessible to wheelchairs as well.
Christopher Johnson
Great displays, lots of cool history.
Kettering
Very cool museum with a wide variety of cars, motorcycles, bicycles, trains, trucks, and even an old snowmobile!
Rick Konopka
Wide ranging collection. Items are well cared for and well described.
Jamie Mendoza
So much history in one building for vehicles of all types of Transportation I enjoy the time here but the only thing is that I could not bring my own drink inside when I told them I had to watch my blood sugar and needed to have a drink of my kind then they offered me other selections from there which then after told me I couldn't bring it in the exhibit I had to put it in a locker so I didn't really like how that went but other than that a cool spot to check out
Anthony Edwards
The Big Boy 4-8-8-0 was certainly the big draw for me to the museum; it was truly impressive. However, they have an extensive, impressive collection of antique cars, particularly a variety of Model T cars and trucks. And lots of motorcycles, bikes, and carriages. Great museum.
Ryan Evans
Loved it! My husband is a car fanatic and he was definitely a kid in a candy store. The information provided was detailed and insightful. The trains were amazing! Worth it!
Duncan Adkins
Awesome museum that's a bit of a hidden gem- not super obvious from the street, but definitely worth a visit when in Denver!
Elmo Sheeran
Real piece of history. Amazing collection. Well worth the visit.
Robert Gloyd
The Forney is a bit of a hidden gem in Denver. They have an outstanding collection of classic automobiles and often have a changing rotation of cars from the local classic car clubs. They feature all modes of transportation including air planes, The Big Boy steam locomotive, Horse carriages and a large collection of Harley Davidson and Indian motorcycles. If you are a transportation nut or gear head, this should not be missed.
Jerri Wilson
It was a great way to spend 2 hours. I love old cars and motor cycles and they have a great display!
Lola
Wow what an awesome place! Definitely a place for train and car enthusiasts. Had such an awesome time here. Lots of very informative signs for each exhibit with lots of history. Will be back for sure!
Martijn Bregman
Absolutely recommended! The museum has a great collection and everything's very well taken care of. It's very easy to keep social distance because of the huge size of the museum, and they did a very good job of setting up a one-way walkway through the museum to keep things safe. Don't let virus concerns stop you from visiting this museum, unique places like this are really struggling too keep the lights on and should be kept alive
jakob 1738
It was amazing so many cars, bikes, and more!!!
Jose MightyMongo De Leon
This place was soooo cool! Seeing all these historic means of transportation was awesome. Kids will love it too!
Alex Dunn
This is the source for transportation history. Many many fine transportation pieces on display
Angel Ashbrook
An impressive collection of classic cars, and antique trains.
Diego Torres
Good collection of cars, trains, bicycles and a few old motorcycles. The cars mostly range in age from the 20's through the 80's. I was particularly impressed with the 80-s collection. I thought I disliked cars from that era, but they had some great specimens from the US.
They also had the largest locomotive I've ever seen. It was too big to take a picture of. You can check out the "control panel".
Very cool place, and the admission price was reasonable.
Dorothy Todd
Gracious and lovely but I was there for a Celebration of Life so I can't speak about the Museum! Sorry!
Eliza Patterson
This was a great experience! The museum has so many artifacts and it's easy to follow. Al took the time to talk to us about our many interests and told us many facts about the museum. It was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Thank you and we will be back.
Wesley Pinchot
They've got great historical cars, trucks, and locomotives.
I loved a model train show there several years ago, and now I'm joining the Moffatt Modelers who host an N scale model train layout there in Building#2. Great fun!
Erica Green
Went to a fashion show here! Took a photo in one of the trains
Bobby Strong
Came from PA to visit on our trip to Colorado awesome collection of all things transportation. Staff were insanely nice and intelligent!
Jim Erdman
On our visit to relatives in Colorado, we decided to get to Denver a day early for our flight home so we could visit the Forney Museum, and it was well worth our time to check it out. There is a wonderful assortment of transportation related items from the biggest steam locomotive to minicars and models, steam engines and bicycles, motorcycles and fire trucks, cars and an airplane or two! All the artifacts are in great condition and well described. Since they change exhibits regularly, we'll plan to stop again the next time we are in Denver.
andrew treece
Super nice local museum, loaded with some very special vehicles including a Union Pacific Big Boy 4004. Have a great Model T display and the people who are running it go a I've and beyond to accommodate and make you feel welcome!
Jen Keep
Amazing array of vehicles, and not just cars. Some you won't see anywhere else. Lots of information for each. The restoration of the older pieces is incredible. They have bicycles, motorcycles, trains, trolley cars, funky concept vehicles... you could spend lots of time here, and it would be time well spent.
Phil Ridarelli
Wow. Not to be missed. Unique and wide collection of trains, cars, motorcycles, and more. Great respite from the busy city. Even if you don’t think you’re a fan of these types of museums, you’ll be impressed by the collection.
williamnporter
Great collection. Loved the UP 4005 Big Boy. If you like trains it is a must see.
Lynn Conaway
One the better car museums I have been to. Ya'll have trains, so that's a huge plus for me! I would love to come back if I'm back in Denver sometime!
Angelica Trujillo
Hands down the coolest museum I've been to thus far! So much history and detailed information on the different eras of transportation and the evolution of it. Very interactive and I could've stayed there all day because I just loved it so much and the ambiance of it made you feel like you were a part of that time of the vehicles, locomotives, wagons. A must see!!! They have traveling exhibits too so you can go back and it'll have different scenes.
Kristy Black
What a fantastic place! All things transportation old and new! Trains, planes, automobiles, bicycles, whatever has been available in the State of Colorado is here at Forney. It's a great place to spend the day or a few hours. Reasonably priced as well. Don't miss it.
Jennifer Miller
This is a wonderful collection of all modes of transportation in a beautiful display room, rich with history and nostalgia. We loved it
Cindy Marlowe
Fabulous museum, loved the big boy. Should bring everyone here!
Morgan Baly
We arrived after the last timed admission at 3:00, but the employee at the counter was kind enough to admit us anyways. The collection was massive, and perfectly organized for social distancing. The museum staff has designed the showroom floor to be traveled in a single direction that allows you to see every exhibit. Hope to come back some day!
Amy Leslie
Really enjoyed my time here. They have a wide range of vehicles: planes, trains, automobiles... and bicycles! I thought the Detroit Electric Car they have was super interesting, who knew we had electric cars back before WWII! It was also eye-opening to realize how big a steam engine locomotive is.
Dulce Leiva
This place is a hidden gem in Colorado.
We went with my kids and they had a lot of fun including my husband.
You must have to come and visit!! The people that work here also is nice and helpful.
Thank you for making this experience so nice!
FoolsAndKings UK
Fabulous museum to transport, just near Denver city centre. It covers all forms of transport and has some impressive exhibits. They have the massive "Big Boy" train, cars, planes, bikes and more. There is ample parking and friendly staff, plus it was good value for money
Tana Rucker
Neat little place nestled in over near National Western Complex in Denver. They have some pretty neat items that we've not seen at other museums, including Big Boy, which we were there to see. Automobiles are the vast majority of the museum (very few planes). Pretty cool flow though, as the museum starts with very early transportation and moves through the ages. The children enjoyed it, but have a shorter than adult attention span and were bored about half way through.
TIP: Don't miss the little train table in the gift shop. For a quarter, the kids can drive their own train. Pretty neat for adults and kids alike.
Andrew Janiesch
The Foreny Museum has a nice collection of different modes of transportation for everyone to see. From cars to motorcycles to bikes to even a train and train cars. Good gift shop with a room attached that has lots of small model cars. You can spend easley 2 or more hours visiting the past.
Craig Rutherford
If in the Denver area you have to check them out!!
Dave Mayes
Very good collection, headlined by the magnificent "Big Boy" locomotive. If you're an antique car fan you'll love their large collection. Other displays include Indian motorcycles and even Matchbox toy cars. Count on around 2 hours for a visit - longer if you are more interested than average.
MrCigarsnCoffee
If you or someone you know is a car, tractor, motorcycle, steam engine or otherwise classic vehicle fan, you MUST visit the Forney museum. On top of their already outstandingly impressive collection, they have rotating exhibits which feature a certain type or style of vehicle for a limited time. I went when they were featuring low-riders; I'm not into the style, but I was still blown away by the quality and condition of each one. My parents were in town, and I took my kids as well. It was solid entertainment for all company involved for a good two hours. I'll definitely go again to see other featured exhibits.
James Munson
Great museum with a wide variety of transportation themed exhibits. Home of one of the rare Big Boy locomotives! Worth several hours to give yourself time to read everything. They did a great job grabbing quality, unique examples that you don't see elsewhere. Everything from bicycles, motorcycles to car, trucks, trains, planes and a helicopter.
Sandra Balogun
I love this place! So beautifully maintained!
Dmitry Konoplev
Absolutely loved it. Booked our free tickets through the Denver Public Library.
Ryan Pachmayer
Everyone was friendly here. It wasn't crowded and it was a pretty good bargain.
I'm not super into cars or trains or motorcycles or bicycles, but it was still an enjoyable time.
You can stroll around at your own pace, everything is very open and easy to navigate and there are a lot of different modes of transportation (everything mention before plus some farm equipment and carriages).
Lots of old cars and those trains are really neat too.
One word of warning. I saw in some of the reviews people were bringing groups of kids here. That's a bad idea. This is in no way a children's museum. There is nothing really of interest here for kids. Sure, you might think cars and trains, but this is more like an old man or hobbyist's museum than a child's. I'd recommend ages 15+ for this, and only younger if the specific kid has a large interest in trains and cars that extends beyond playing with toys.
Decent gift shop too. I didn't buy anything, but there is a wide range of things to buy at reasonable prices for those that are interested.
Chris Flynn
Great price for a self guided informative tour. I enjoyed being able to walk around at my own pace. Lots of interesting vehicles and trains.and other cool modes of transportation. Facility overall was very clean and quiet. Took a lil over an hour to complete. Close to many dining options as well.
Mr. A
Great museum, worth the entry fee. Good rotation on special exhibits. A+
Manuel Gomez
Well worth the trip. I'm ready to go again.
Tyler James
My wife and I stopped by here before flying out of Denver. The museum has some awesome classic cars and motorcycles. They are still working on some of the railcars that will be cool to see once restored. The only issue is the location is hard to spot, drove right by it and had to turn around.
Lynn Arneill-Brown
Well I may be biased because my first cousin once removed James Ray Arneill helps to start the museum. He was a big train enthusiast and his rail car is there and he got the big boy engine in from Union Pacific. We stayed for a couple hours with our relatives and had a blast. I just love looking at old shiny cars oand the trains were great too The staff was very nice .also appeals to all ages.
Skinny Winkler
Lovely place. Amazing vehicles and information.
It's actually a great place to hold an event. Lovely people, and easy to work with.
Grey
Awesome gem of a museum! Highly recommend! I took like 450 photos of all the classic cars locomotive s and motorcycles! Felt like a kid in a toy store. The building itself looks like a old train maintenance she'd of some kind converted into the museum. I went to the Denver science museum the next and while I learned more there I had a lot more fun here at the Forney!
Jacob Swift
It is a great little museum. I think the price is a little high for the size but has a great collection none the less. Would be a higher rating but I remember their original location off I25 and speer.
Rachel Rosebrook
Definitely worth spending a hot afternoon here
Tim Howard
Quite enjoyable. Nice range of vehical types. Something for everyone--or everything for someone. Lots to see and enjoy without being overwhelming. Worthile.
Alison Powell
Really a pretty cool place and they rotate their stock too. Huge snowblower that is on the front of a train was terrifying and awesome. Got to sit in a model T and see so many other awesome care you've never heard of. Also has bikes, trucks, planes and all types of transportation.
Patrick Landry
Nice collection of cars, bicycles, and motorcycles. Also some light aircraft, train cars, locomotives, and carriages. Not a fancy museum but lots to see and well maintained. Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy vintage transportation.
Cheyenne Perkins
Gotten quite expensive and less vehicles and you can no longer get into or onto the big trains except for a small walk up on the big boy. But the history is fun and the vehicles are gorgeous.
Joseph Perucki
Good museum, but not great. It took us a little more than an hour to go through the entire museum, but probably about 2 hours total if we stopped to read every sign they had.
There are definitely a lot of cool pieces here but it is lacking just a little bit. There is one large section of cars, a smaller room with motorcycles and bicycles, and a couple of trains on the side. There is also another room with diecast cars.
The cars do not really seems to have a semblance of organization (it would be nice if they went year by year to see the growth), but the motorcycles were organized more by progression. There was a model T you could sit in and take a photo if you wanted, but not a lot of interactive things.
This place seems to have good potential, but it needs some work to get it past the average.
Cody Howe
Fantastic! Well worth going to see! Will go again and will take our boys!
Kenny Strathman
Amazing place huge collections you name it they have it cars planes trains bikes!!!!!
John Pichon
Really enjoyed the experience at Forney. The displays are awesome and the docents and volunteers are knowledgeable and so enthusiastic about the museum and what they do. Going back for another visit.
Martin Reiner
A truly great collection of train automobile motorcycle car exhibits and more. Helpful staff and well curated.
Kyle Rose
Fun museum with a diverse collection
John Harrison
Wonderful display of trains, planes, automobiles and motorcycles, showing rare vehicles not seen by many.
Affordable, walkable, enjoyable. Spent 1 1/2 hours, could have stayed 3 hours.
When in Denver don’t pass up this bit of history. Your understanding of transportation in America will be enhanced!
Reminds me of a smaller version of The Henry Ford in Dearborn, Michigan.
Dylan Giroir

A great adventure back in time! Beautiful planes, automobiles, motorcycles and trains, well displayed with informative descriptions. We love that the displays change often so each time we go is a different experience.
Colter Bame
Really cool transportation museum in Denver CO.
George Grimes
This place has a really good, varied collection of types of transportation. The are people powered machines, horse drawn machines, motorcycles, and automobiles from various eras as well as manufacturers you may never have heard of. The train collection reminds of when rail travel was the luxurious, fast way to travel and the Big Boy locomotive is impressively large. It is well worth a visit!
Victoria M
If you can only go to one museum in Colorado, it should be this one. You will not be disappointed, especially if you like old cars, motorcycles, trains, and so much more. You can spend hours here. And make sure to see the matchbox car collection. So cool!
Erin R.
This is a great collection of transportation related stuff.. they have everything from buses and trolleys, to trains and airplanes, and everything in between. This is a great place to spend an afternoon. Behaved children should have no problems, there is plenty of stuff to look at and many things that they can climb on
austinzoe007
Very nice and properly priced.
Chris Mospaw
This truly is a "transportation" museum and not just cars. There are cars, trucks, motorcycles, trains, and a few other things. If you're a steam locomotive fan, one of the surviving UP Big Boys lives here. It's a must see and I'm in awe every time I go.
There's always a great curated special show going on of various cars and the permanent collection is fascinating as well. Friendly staff and volunteers.
Marissa Alexander
Awesome collection of vintage cars, locomotives, bicycles, motorcycles, vintage clothing, and more. We are from Texas, and of all of the things we did in Denver this week - this was the most impressive. The place is ginormous, so plan a good three or four hours. Many of the vehicles are the last ones known in existence. Bonus: look out for the random wax figures of famous historical people.
Brian Bocock
I love this museum! Any transportation enthusiast will benefit from a visit. My kids really enjoyed it. I refer all my friends to a reasonable trip to the Forney Museum. It's well worth it! You won't be disappointed.
Marilyn Pasqual
Wow! What GREAT COLLECTION and EXHIBIT!! This was one of thise places where you're not too sure what you're going to get when you arrive...BUT then you're Pleasantly Surprised by all of the Cool, Beautiful items. We were both blown away by not only the collections in each area but also the condition of everything. It made for (not only great photos for our album) but a Great Memory!
Christian B
Whether you're into old cars, trains, planes, motorcycles or bicycles, this place is for you! Many of the vintage items either belong too or are on loan to the museum by a private owner. By each item displayed is a detailed description and history, which I found to be useful in explaining why the item is in the museum. Many of the cars and other museum items are for display only but there are are few items, such as the trains that can be interacted with. One of my favorite areas of the museum is " Biking through History " they have a large room with bikes from the early 1800's through the 1970's. Its interesting to see how the styles and mechanical aspects have changed throughout the years. They even have a tribute to Wilbur and Orville Wright who once sold and repaired bicycles before using bike parts to build the first "flying machine". This is an trip through history of transportation and something that everybody of all ages will enjoy.
Jason Taber
Great museum with many fascinating and mostly well-restored cars, trucks, trains, etc. to look at. Each one includes an appropriate amount of interesting information. The only critique I have is that I wish it was arranged more chronologically.
Jessy Bright
Cool fun place to see some transportation history
Eric Kritz
This wonderful museum offers the unique opportunity to see one of the remaining 'Big Boy' locomotives that ran heavy freight loads between Cheyenne and Ogden. This, along with an amazing collection of Studebaker automobiles make this museum a unique, must-see visit for any rail or car buff. Highly recommended!!!
Brian Chartier
I visited this museum while vacationing in the Denver area and was extremely impressed with their collection of vintage vehicles. I've always loved trains and the "Big Boy" locomotive they have is positively massive!
A great place to visit!
Jon Hintz
Definitely a good place to go if you like Automotive History not a ton of cool cars but definitely quite a few and some pretty cool trains
Ali Shaw
I came here with my brother as he is into cars and automotive stuff... Me not so much. HOWEVER, I had a blast. It was so cool to see history. If you have kids, I definitely would recommend going.
Justin Davison
What a fantastic place to see some awesome pieces of American history. You can even take a picture of yourself in a Ford Model T! The staff is friendly and the gift shop prices are reasonable. This was a great activity on our vacation to Denver, and I highly recommend!
hoodRex
So manny awesome things to see on display here. I will definitely be coming back. If you enjoy cars/transportation this is the place to check out while in Denver. Super nice staff. Super historical displays.
Rose Schmidt
Great place to visit and learn about transportation. We went to see the 2 Big Boys and loved it. Liked looking at the other trains and all they have.
Diane Scott
This museum doesn't look like much from the outside, but it is totally awesome on the inside! We could spend only 90 minutes there and it wasn't enough time to take it all in. We want to return, as there are so many interesting modes of transportation to see. Wow!
Jason Wissner
I haven't been to the Forney museum since I was a child and it's quite a bit different than I remember. It's still need to see all the old vehicles and be able to walk through some of the old trains, But I did take a star away because it just seems like it's on its last legs and there isn't much anyone is trying to do to save it
Jon Smedberg
Forney Museum is a cross section of all types of Transportation. In my opinion there is a good representation of all forms of transportation, from Steam diesel engines two bicycles. The items displayed and the building is very clean. Bring water because there is no snack bar. There is a small outside patio area to have lunch; bring your own.
Tom Malik
Great pieces of transportation history can be found here. For steam locomotive lovers, it's a must see just for the 4005 4-8-8-4 "Big Boy".
Alexander Wagner
Still an awesome museum, much more spread out now and easier to admire the exhibits. Though I do remember many moon's ago at its previous location, of climbing with my brother all over the 4005, and almost getting stuck in the coal tender, don't tell Mom.
Tina Wall
What a treat this museum was! Our family really enjoyed this. The Big Boy was my highlight, my kids loved the Cadillac Eldorado Broughman, and my husband enjoyed all the old model Fords and bicycles. The staff was friendly, and my kids blew some allowance in the gift shop! I would recommend a sweater if you are the cold type - the warehouse is chilly.
Richard Davies
Great Museum with history all over. We really enjoyed this afternoon. Staff were super friendly. Looks like one of the best places to go to a private party, as they were setting up for that, the day we were there.
Ava VanSickler
A really wide bredth of transportation vehicles - the collection is really huge! Bikes, military vehicles, motorcycles, cars, trains other not so popular vehicles that didn't make it due to design flaws or what not. It is self guided. The time that we went (near closing time on a Friday) there wasn't really anyone we could ask questions to - but other than that it was a really nice time.
Julie Cameron
Wow, so much to see. Very well set up. Knowledgeable staff. Can't wait to go back
Josh Plave
Great hidden gem! Went for the Rolls Royce and Bentley temporary exhibit. Great variety of all things transportation, so me really rare cars from the 10s-60s.
Joel H
I have been visiting this wonderful museum for years. Transportation is all it's forms. From pedal cars to the Big Boy locomotive and everything in between. Many rare and unusual automobiles, Amelia Earhart's 1923 Kissel Goldbug speedster, Nyberg limousine the only one left. Train lovers will be amazed at the Big Boy locomotive it's impressive. One of eight. Extensive motorcycle and bicycle collection as well. They have excellent temporary exhibits as well.
This is a hidden gem of Denver, well worth the effort.
Jeremy Roos
This place is awesome they had a lot of cool things to look at as well as their trains were amazing the only thing that would have made a better is it if we would have been able to walk through the train cars.
UMFilmmaker
Loved it! My only complaint is that their website, and others that included the museum hours, were wrong. I got there at 2:00pm on a Sunday, and they were closing at 3:00pm. Their website says 4:00pm, so I missed the train exhibits. I must say, when I explained the situation to an employee, the young man took a good deal of time to walk me through a personal tour of the main train exhibit. He even explained the history and renovation efforts (both completed, and future plans).
I think they were announcing the closing over the loud speaker, but it was too muffled to understand, and as I mentioned, the website said 4:00pm.
Steve Chacon
Great museum and nice staff! Once I found out I could let them use some of my cars in the exhibit I decided to look more into it for the future. I'm planning on taking friends and family to experience it!
Jordan Hogness
Fun spot for an auto enthusiast. Private collection of wealthy businessman (now deceased). Some locomotive and aeronautical content as well, in addition to a large (mostly American but some Japanese) motorbike collection. Budget 30 minutes if you tend to breeze through places, 2.5 hours to really do it justice.
Alina G
old cars, bicycles, machines, trains - it's worth see.
Ryan Foster
Wonderful place to spend a few hours. So much variety and lovely staff!
Lyndall Canter
Lots of fun. Free parking.
Stellar Spas
Having traveled from Fountain (90 min. away), got faked out when we learned that the Natural History Museum was actually the Museum of Nature & Science. My (now 12 y.o.) son and I had already been there at least twice and I really wanted to go some place new. While in the lobby of the Nat. & Sci. museum, I Goog'ed others museums and spotted this one. Was "medium" intrigued, but my son, no. We went anyway.
As we pulled up, it didn't look that exciting compared to the aforementioned big daddy museum. Parking lot probably held 30-40 cars. Tried to remain optimistic. Walked in, saw only a lobby/gift shop. Walked to an adjacent small room with model cars and other vehicles. For a moment, I wondered if that was it! I used the restroom and thought if there's not much more, I'm asking for a refund.
Eventually found the entrance to the main exhibit and all my concerns vanished. Firstly, I could see that it was far larger than appeared from the street. But with that and a quick visual scan came the understanding that there were some seriously impressive vehicles from Mankind's history.
If I had judged it by its exterior, I would've guessed it had 20-30 vehicles max. Oh no. Over a hundred, I'm sure. So much that with the 2.5 hours we knew we had 'til closing, we knew we had to manage our time in order to see everything, enjoy it, and yet not feel rushed.
How fascinating it was to see so many of the vintage vehicles in great, yet unrestored condition. To see their age and the history, the wear of the upholstery from 100+ years ago, knowing that it was the result of years of everyday use of people who've long since passed. To know that these cars, bicycles, motorcycles, helicopters, steam engine tractors, and the "Big Boy" steam locomotive (an absolute monster) was at one point the state of the art mode of transportation or equipment...was tremendously impacting. I asked my boy how he felt about leaving the Nature & Science museum and going to the Forney Museum when we first left on a scale of 1-10. He said it was a 1. I then asked him how he felt after we visited it. He said it was about an 8.5. I asked him because I already knew what he'd say...it was obvious when we were there that we was diggin' it.
All were either in very good unrestored condition or what appeared to be ultra low miles original condition. Never cared for the AMC Pacer or Gremlin when I was in Jr High when they first came out. But now, to see them as if I was transported back to 1978...awesome. To see a fully intact, unrestored motorcycle from 1933, of which had obviously lived a lot of good life in a world that no longer exists; a very unique feeling. Or the my dream bike when I was in high school, the 6-cylinder Honda CBX, looking just like it did when I drooled over it back then. Or a covered wagon from the "Old West" days, in person, fully intact, just as it was as it took all of a family's possessions across country by horse...phenomenal.
Photos, no matter how high-res are good. But the brain ingests a far greater depth of Man's achievements, his and her (one of Amelia Earhart's cars is exhibited) desires, creativity, progress, innovation, etc., etc. when we see these things up close in real life. It's there right in front of us and we know it. No 2D image will ever compete.
I'm sure museum-goers share that sense of wonder and attraction to dreaming; what it was like for those who designed and operated these incredible machines. What stories they could tell if they could whisper to us where they've been, what experiences the people had in or on them. How they felt the first day they fired them up. Or the little boy who got his first trike in 1890.
What a precious thing it is to be taken back through time when the world was so very different. There's something invaluable about standing next to a vehicle made long ago that tells us so much about them. And in turn, it's hard to not see ourselves differently on a deeper level.

Quite a lot to look at! Good selection of trains, cars, motorcycles. Admission price can't be beat. Several beautiful Jaguars on display during the time we went.
Steph Hooper
Extensive collection of antique cars in immaculate condition. The trains are impressive, especially the big boy steam locomotive. The gift shop has some very unique gifts as well. Highly recommend.
Kayla Goldstein
All the cars, bikes and trains were full of history and awesome to see. A lot of going inside of the train cars were unfortunately closed.
Eric Anderson
What a great hidden gem in Rino. So many interesting things to see here. Obviously you would need to have some interest in cars, trains, or motorcycles, but even if you don't you will still find something cool. So many fun things here.
John Douglas
I spent 3 hours here! Fine assortment of cars, trains, bikes and other memorabilia. Comfortable not crowded on a weekday
A bit hard to find
Turn in from Brighton Blvd AT THEIR SIGN!
Ajae Hall
This is a very cool place with a wide variety of vehicles. All that is missing is boats. The trains and train cars on display are worth trip by themselves, and there are also lots of cars, bikes and carriages as well as a few aircraft.
Mark
Great fun for anyone or a family. Lots of history and plenty to learn. Some exhibits rotate throughout the year.
S. Pearcy
Great museum with vast collection of old cars and motorcycles as well as trains, bicycles and other vehicles. Worth the time.
Nick R.
I thought the exhibit on Lowriders was lacking a little bit. I still decided to come see the "Sports Car America Loved First" exhibit. It was a little better. All of the new exhibits they have seem to be a bit small for my liking.
James Espey
Lots of interesting cars from the early 1900s thru the 70s. Many have informative description cards which help to tell the story of each car. Also several historic train cars and engines on display, as well.
Josh Chamberlain
Was really cool to go see all old stuff here the locomotive was sick and looking at all the old bikes also sitting the model t was really cool this 0lace was really awesome
Ranette Davis
Such a fun place to visit. Did you know their exhibitions change every 4 months? Love the Thunderbird exhibition. Pontiacs due in a week!
Courtney Jackson
Loved this place. We took our kids and they loved learning about new things. Each car, train, or bike had a history that we could read about. We spent 3 hours there and probably could have spent longer!
Marie Yelvington
It was a cool place to check out; even without the kids.... The staff was super friendly.... I mean... It was genuine... They greeted and interacted with us like they knew us forever; even though this was our first encounter.... I just felt like there was something missing... The price was not as high as other places.... But; it was missing something
Joel Schuster
Awesome place. Only two things against it. 1. It's not great for smaller kids since everything is hands off. 2. They have another 100 or so vehicles in storage that can't be seen. They rotate, but would appreciate even more.
Keith Renshaw
Okay now this was super cool. It was last minute but one of my favorites. Anyone who is in Denver and looking to burn a hour worth of time. Try this place out.
B A
Our visit was really enjoyable. Very reasonable price and it was well worth the money.
A great collection of unique cars, trains motorcycles and other vehicles.
We will definitely visit again.
David Auner
Fun transportation museum with nice exhibits centered on railways and cars.
Marsha Malet
I really enjoyed sharing this experience with my great-grandson. So many of the vehicles reminded me of special events and people. The massive train engines were astonishing.
Matt
We made this stop while in Denver and was not disappointed! If you love cars, motorcycles, trains, diecast and more you will love this place! The staff was amazing as well. Will return when back in Denver!
Megan C
I am not a mechanical person at all, but i have to say this place exceeded my expectations. Fairly cheap admission price for the massive collection. We easily spent 2.5 hours in there reading all of the stories. Worth an outing.
Victor Romero
Great place to walk around looking at classic vehicles. Vehicles are changed constantly.
Dario Impini
Enjoyed all the rolling history but my favorite was the absolutely colossal Big Boy. Talked at length with Al, the resident expert on this machine who explained many subtleties and answered all my fairly technical questions. He didn't miss a beat and is as much a treasure as the iron horse on display.
Shawn Bowman
A must see Denver visit for any car and train enthusiast. We love the main exhibits as well as special shows and have rented out the space for special events. A true gem!
Robert Light
Nice collection of cars and other vehicles
BanditHQ32
WOW!!! if you are a car or transportation buff this is a must see. Off the beaten path but very easy to get to. Immaculate collection of cars, buses and trains. Plan on spending 2-4 hours here. This is must do if you have the time
J Akers
Excellent museum for all families and people that want to understand this history, versus the histories being taught today.. huge collection and historical significance
Lawrence Elrad
Great museum. Some of the best curly Indians I've ever seen. Love The Hondas from the sixties and seventies I must see when you are in Denver
Alicia Ostenson
Not sure what I was expecting, but it was pretty cool, for not even being a big car fan.
ViLee “Lee”
I. LOVE. THIS. PLACE.
The staff is so friendly, everything is so well taken care of, and not to mention how there is always something new when you come back. Or you always notice something you didn't before. *highly* recommend!
Kevin Williamson
Huge museum with plenty of interesting vehicles to look at. I loved the carriages especially. However, I would have liked to get a better look inside the trains.
Matt Faber
Lots of old cars and some big freekin trains. Really glad I went. A lot of the vehicles have crazy stories behind them, like the Fairlane Skyliner that the local club pulled out of a canal and restored to demonstrate how the convertable top works. The locomotive snow-thrower terrified my 2 year old, funny how different eyes see different things!
Arikka Jitendranath
What a wonderful museum! My family had a blast!
Justin Marz
Great collect of historic cars and trains ... What blew me away was the program for the kids; every third Saturday of the month they host a model car building session - they let the kids pick out a model car and help them put it together for free
John Savage
Very complete transportation museum with good write-ups on almost every piece. I thoroughly enjoyed my 1.5 hour walk through. My dad would have loved it even more.
Richard Jacobson
This is an amazing museum. We are do glad we went.
Justin Siddall
An amazing experience that I was very surprised by! Loved seeing cars, trains, and military vehicles from past decades. Many thanks to those who kept and/or restored these pieces of history.
Deea Hoover
This place was amazing, The Big Boy is pretty awesome with several trains inside. Lots of old cars and quite the bicycle collection along with motorcycles. They had one just like the one I learned to ride on in the 70s. Lol
Dutchman 72
If you're a Gearhead or if you like anything to do with older technology or pop are for that matter. It's a place to visit.
Geoffrey Bruce
This visit was fund raiser for Jefferson Center For Mental Heath. An amazing place - the JCFMH and this museum. Allow far more time you you planned if you have the slightest interest in the beauty of mechanical engineering. That huge - huge steam locamotive beggars belief. Lovely old cars, small aircraft - oooooh so much to see..
mari geolfos
Very cool. Love being up close to the trains. Lots of variety and reasonable admission.
Dennis N
Fairly small place but they definitely have a lot of things packs in there. I wish train carts were open to see the inside of them, other than that we loved it.
Naveh Kamai
Great museum. Shows the advancement in the technology of transportation during history
Ivan Masarik
Great place to visit and educate your self on progress of transpiration over the years
Kris Stut

Robert Nuno
Very cool collection. There are 3 rooms. Die-cast room, cars, trains, and other vehicles and motorcycle / bike room. Very cool for anyone who like likes any of these things.
Rajendran Sridhar
Dont let the entrance or the initial thoughts decide the experience you might get inside.
It's worth the entrance fee that one has to pay.
The exhibits are very informative and definitely worth the time and money spent.
Schellb Schell
Great place to see any types of transportation. I loved see all the trains and classic, model A's and model T's

I use the Forney Museum to store one of my vehicles. The staff is very friendly and is happy to help you. I wish the storage was cheaper and was open during the weekend but overall I am pleased.
Rachel Rathman
It was cool to see a piece of history.
Amy O.
This museum has a great collection of automobiles, bikes and trains; all of which are at least 30 - 40 years old. This is a great place to spend a rainy or snowy day.

Wonderful! The J.I. Case tractor and Harvestor were my favorites! I'm originally from Racine, WI area (Kenosha/Milwaukee) Madison). Plus the covered wagons and trains. Well, card, too. Just everything was amazing.

Emil Cepeda
Very fun museum! Tons of cool displays including one of the Big Boy locomotives. A little chilly so wear a jacket!
Day Family
I thought this place was pretty cool. Theres not a lot to do so it isn't suggested for small or rambunctious children. I don't even much care for cars, but I love the history and looking at old things.
robert soucek
Had a conference there and it was so cool.
Aaron G
Amazing collection and so well curated!! Met a couple with 2 pieces in the collection and they encouraged us to go past the ropes and have a closer look ... I am soooo happy I visited 😃 …
Alex S
The cleanest examples of America's worst cars you'll ever see, along with fun antiques, locomotives, and buggies. Worth a trip for the sheer variety. You'll not see much like it elsewhere.
Dave Johnston
Really awesome collection of transportation related items. Big boy locomotive is amazing, lots of cool old cars and motorcycles. Well worth the price of admission.

Greg Wolf
Freaking awesome!!! I will return another day with a better camera. The UP Big Boy was my favorite exhibit.
Dave Arnett
Great collection! The staff was a bit crabby and for the sake of humanity, do NOT bring in your purse. Once we were away from the staff, it was a unique and interesting time spent.
Erwin Gaskamp
Liked it! Location was hard to find and in a quasi commercial/industrial area with few if any signs pointing the way. But as a car fan, it was good.
Mary Johnson
I have seen such automobiles in movie productions only. It was quite nice wandering around them and imagining myself as a main character in one of my favorite movies. I guess it sounds a bit childish but at least I am sincere. I recommend the place.
Reuben Lewy
If you like history here is a great place to see a history on different forms of transport. My family and I were amazed at cars we'd never seen, motor bikes, planes and more.
Sean D
A small simple museum. Of course it isn't the size of the Museum of Nature and Science, but it shouldn't have to be. It's perfect to jump in, visit, and move on to other great sights. Great visual education!
Nicolaas Staalberg
Wonderful collection of transportation vehicles. And the Big Boy train engine 👍👍👍 …
