Reviews of National Veterans Memorial and Museum
Timothy Kelly
This is the first national museum for All who have served in the United States Military, and are now called a Veteran. Completed in 2018. It opened its doors to the public. This is a fantastic contribution to all of our Veterans who have ever served. There is also a small scavenger hunt for kids. You go and walk around trying to find key points and images or items that are being told around the center.
There are three levels. As you come in the doors, which you have to walk up a ramp on the East side of the building. As you open the doors, you are greeted with a delightful welcome. You can either pay inside or prepay on the website. All Veterans are free. Kids I believe are $5 and Adults are $10. You are start on the right and walk around until you make a complete circle.
As you end the walk, there is a staircase going down to an area that talks about specific Veterans and tells a little about their story. As you make your way across and around to the right, there is also a little room for any Veteran to tell their story if they wish!
But wait.. there’s more..
As you make your way up the stairs or elevators, you have an opportunity to go to a third deck. Here .. is a special occasion and opportunity to witness the beauty of all the colors. Beautiful stain glass windows and doors of multiple ribbons that Veterans receive while in service to country! You can even go outside on top of the roof and see the great city of Columbus!
Lastly, there is a quiet and meditation garden around the back end of the building. When you go in, ask about it! It really is a neat place for quietness.
Oh.. one more thing.. if you live in the Columbus area, and are interested in “Jujitsu”, this building has a basement as well. Ask about it and come join a team of professionals that will help build many inspirations for a great mind set of self disciple and respect.

Google maps turned me into a monthly rate parking only lot. To leave there is no left turn. So I went straight at light and turned around. Short walk to the entrance. The parking is $8 with variables. It has a nice round layout. Nice and clear info on signs. The second floor gives a nice overview to entrance floor. Roof walk gives a city view and a peak to the memory gardens. That is accessible by an outside ramp. So peaceful and nice waterfall sounds.
Jeff Meister
Outstanding museum dedicated to veterans of all armed forces. Top notch exhibits and interactive displays. Room to grow. Highly suggest a visit if you are anywhere in the Columbus, OH area!
Elizabeth Dawes
Admission and parking are free if you are a veteran. Also can get free admission if you get a Columbus metro library card and ask for a culture pass. Information on all of the wars beginning with the Revolution. Helpful staff.
Emily W
Wonderful and informative exhibits. Super friendly staff who were also veterans. The exhibits were moving and so important for us Americans to see and understand the experiences and stories of veterans. Such a gem of a place to have in Columbus. Pay this place a visit. It is a wonderful experience.
Mike
This was the best museum I have been to in years. It was incredibly moving. The stories told by the soldiers themselves will bring you to tears.

SOLD OUT!
Great evening for a good cause🦋Eat Up Columbus is a city soirée celebrating community, collaboration, and changemakers in Columbus, while raising essential funds to support Freedom a la Cart’s work to empower survivors of human trafficking. This year’s event will be held on July 30th, a date identified by The United Nations as World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, bringing light to the issue of human trafficking worldwide.
The event’s rooftop setting provides a view of the city skyline where friends will mingle, enjoy local music, taste hors d’oeuvres highlighting area restaurants, and hear stories of impact. Guests are encouraged to dress in white to resemble the blank canvas survivors are given when they embark on a fresh start and new life of freedom.

The museum itself looks quite nice but I feel the content inside is not up to par. The exhibit is also quite small
Krista Stradley
My husband (a Navy Veteran) and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The exhibits were informative and powerful and the section highlighting PTSD experiences was particularly moving. The staff and volunteers were so kind and helpful, which just made for the perfect day!
Tony Matthews
Veterans park free. The staff was friendly and helpful. Very moving experience for me and my wife as veterans. Make sure to walk outside to see the memorial water fall.
Anna Defendiefer
So beautiful on the inside and outside on the grounds (which are free). Tranquil, touching, and moving. The architecture is incredible and the use of colored windows on the top floor is really unique. You can tell a lot of thought went into the design, which puts the veterans at the forefront. Extremely clean as well.
Deb McGown
Amazing place to visit. Highly recommend! Take some time to visit.
Kenneth Klausing
This is a very well put together Veterans museum. It covers all wars from our founding through Afghanistan. Many testimonials from men and women who have served. Very emotional if you have served! Today entrance was free as they were celebrating veterans, police, fire fighters and first responders.
Mike Stoehr
Great place to visit on Veterans Day. Truly a tribute to all the men and women serving our country. Lots of educational displays and stories of life in the military both in peace and war. These individuals took an oath to protect our democracy and the Constitution of the United States, not because they saw personal gain, but because they loved this country. Every person serving or having served in the military deserves a salute. This is a good place to connect with thoughts such as these.
Ryan Mentkowski
What a cool place to look at history and have a social conference.
B Cook
Awesome experience...
We have forgotten how to appreciate the countless lives that have been lost to make this a Great Country.
Sacrifices were made and continue today.
Appreciate the Military and the Families that support them.
Use the experience to be thankful for all the freedom you come to take advantage of.
Roger Blocher
This museum will get you thinking. The people you meet thru the videos make you think of all the Veterans that did not come back. There is a great exhibit about PTSD, I think it is a must see. (Exhibit there until January 2nd)
Lizzy Miles
I am not the target audience for this museum. My attendance was simply because I had been given tickets and then pressured repeatedly about the expiration of those tickets. That being said, I think the curators did a nice job with the exhibits. It really is beautiful to look at with lots of wall quotes. There are videos and physical objects...some that you can touch! My reason for not giving it 5* are as follows: you have to pay for parking even though they have their own dedicated lot. The whole place seemed dark. The cafe is not yet open. There is (in my opinion) a sanitary slant that perhaps romanticizes military culture. I say this as a military dependent and also a social worker who works with dying veterans. Its not an entirely bad thing...I see some exhibits geared towards children. Every museum curator makes choices. Personally I would have liked there to have been a little more about military families. :) I spent more time here than I expected I would which speaks to the quality and quantity of the exhibits. All in all if this is an interest of yours, you will not likely be disappointed. One final note for curator: not every disabled person is in a wheelchair. There needs to be more seating available throughout the exhibits.
T Payne
This is a should-see visit if in the area. The displays present a great view of veteran experiences. Plan at least an hour. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Guides and volunteers help make the visit more informative.
Parking is convenient and free for veterans. Admission is free for veterans; otherwise it is a bit pricey at $17 per adult. Memberships are available.
Konrad Lentschig
Great architecture. The guide was happy to explain that the hart wood floor is a special product from Germany. It's called Hochkantlamellenparket! Fortunately I'm German and Architect and used this material in my House in Greenville/ SC
The museum is very new and opens 2 month before.
Becca Fiorini
Beautiful, new facility with focus on storytelling directly from Veterans with interactive displays. The admission fee, however, seems expensive given the relatively small size of the museum. I enjoyed the rooftop gallery and memorial grove. The rooftop can be accessed without going in the museum and offers great views of the skyline.
Brian Mercer
This place is a treasure. A great structure and tribute to our veterans. It does an amazing thing, it remembers. To those who served it can be healing and to those who never came home it stands to say "thank you - you will not be forgotten ". Please come and visit and give honor to those who serve. This place is full of interactive exhibits and the architectural approach is very unique. So glad this is in Columbus.
Brad McFadden
A wonderful place to visit in Columbus, Ohio. The National Veterans Memorial and Museum shares the story of serving our country through interactive displays, videos and even some hands-on activities. As a veteran, I was personally moved by how well each exhibit and display was crafted. The NVMM strives to connect the general public with veterans through their thoughts, experiences, and emotions, and they do an exquisite job. The building itself is an architectural masterpiece. I would highly recommend visiting to anyone.
Matt Smith
All I have to say is WOW! This is such a moving and inspirational museum. I am so pleased to see an amazing place dedicated to our Men and Women of the US Military. If you are in Columbus, this is a must visit attraction! Parking is nearby and COSI is across the street.
Jennifer Williams
Very moving museum. I was so happy it far exceeded my expectations. So much thought and meaning went into every exhibit.
Ohio vs The World
What a great walk through someone else’s boots—a truly wonderful look into the lives of Veterans across the ages. Makes you appreciate what we have now, thanks to what so many individuals helped secure—our freedoms. It is a wonderful way to visualize the life of an individual soldier, from MEPS, to boot camp, to even the Mercury program and beyond. The National Veterans Museum is even equipped with a recording studio, if you wish to add your own heroic memory, message, or thank you. Being a U.S. Coast Guard Veteran myself, I appreciate what everyone involved has done to make this happen. Thank you for honoring all the past, present, and future generations of heroes—they, and I, salute you.
Tara Roberts
I was here for a training event that was held here with my work and we got to take a tour but this place is a place that I will absolutely be going back to so that I spend spend more time there.
It is an incredible place to see and explore it's very emotional to see it and all and take it all in but loved every second of it!
Mike Metzger
This place is fascinating. There is an interactive exhibit showing troops and the countries they occupied from the 50s til now which was cool. Lots of interesting memorabilia on display to learn about how far military technology has came through the centuries. The coolest thing they had there in my opinion was a book called " Life of a Sailor" it was written by World War 2 veteran Chester Collins whom I have the pleasure of knowing. He is a founding member of my American Legion post 757 in 1949. He has 5 invasions under his belt including Omaha beach. If you want to learn about veterans this is a must see facility. You will not be disappointed, just make sure to sit down and listen to a few of the stories they tell. Some will even bring a tear to the eye!
Keith Carey84
You could spend 3 hours there...basking in the history of wars America has fought...interesting videos of leaving home to fight for Freedom. And, the awesome tole, mentally, those emotional struggles have on a soldier. His family becomes the men around him. Their job is to win battles. And, come home.
Brian Dible
Awesome place to see. The building is an amazing design. So happy that Ohio was decided for the location. Great place to pay homage to all that have served our great country in the US Military.
Mike Riccitelli
Haunting to the point where the lives of those lost for our freedom really became apparent. Touching and memorable and an absolute must see in your lifetime. Please go and honor our American soldiers in history.
Michelle Manco
This is a place that ever person in the world should experience at least 0nce. I guarantee it will give you a different appreciation for all that who have give so. much & paid the ultimate price for all the things we take for granted every day without thought of who, how, or why we have this thing we take for granted "FREEDOM " God Bless the Veterans!❤
Daniel Shepherd
This is a beautiful building in and out. I think it is a great tribute to our veterans and very tastefully done.
Robert Stern
Wonderful place. So much to be said inside the memorial. Great informative time line. The building and property are absolutely immaculate.
Vivekanand Ashok Gavi
A great tribute to veterans. Best museum in downtown. If has good paid parking facility. Near by you can visit other places too.
Tina Powell
Wonderful! There is a lot of history in this building. I really like the open feel and flow of the space and how the exhibits are presented. Please support it.
K Miller
Great place to visit and see. My daughter (Air force A1C) and I really enjoyed the new PTS exhibit. Very moving.
Eric Garza
Nice museum with great potential but it needs more. It's small and a bit expensive.
Dog Dude
This place was absolutely astonishing. It just opened last October, and my family and friends in Columbus haven't even visited yet. Its so incredible to have a National Museum right here in the midwest. God Bless John Glenn for his vision, dedication and hard work for this project, and God Bless the Wexners for footing half the bill of $40 million. Its not your average museum. I was expecting to see lots of things, rather its a museum of stories. You take a journey through the eyes, voices and experience of so very many vets who sacrificed for our freedom. Our group was only there for an hour and a half, which was a great taste of the experience, but we all agreed its a place we want to come back to and spend a full day. There are videos to watch, letters to read, stories to experience. Plan on taking your time and spending several hours or a day here. The place is still very much developing too. A cafe will soon be open, and another building will be going up. Be sure to visit tye rooftop and look out over the garden walk. I didn't make it down to the actually walk by the outdoor monuments water features, but it was gorgeous from the roof. There is an amazing temporary exhibit right now by military photographer Stacy Pearsall. Wow...she really captures the emotion of our soldiers. The entire place is an emotional experience and such an important place so we can keep educating and telling the stories of our selfless soldiers. God Bless each and every one of them. Because of all of you, I am able to experience the freedom of visiting such a place and just experiencing life much easier than many in the world. Thank you Peggy and Terry, wonderful tour guides. And thank you, Terry, for spending a bit more time with me sharing your own story of service and sacrifice. Every person in Columbus and the Columbus area needs to get to this museum. You have no clue what you have right at your back door!
Tod Bowen
It is really cool to have this amazing memorial and museum in Columbus. The space is very well designed and absolutely beautiful. The exhibits are very well done and pay excellent tribute to our country's veterans.
John Barlow
Wonderful place for a good history lesson and to teach our kids about respecting our troops. Did a motorcycle ride to here on memorial day with a group of about 300 bikes... very awesome experience. And my buddy who rode with us is a Veteran cried at the turn out of bikes and people. Very emotional and moving. Highly recommend!!!
Jon D
Bring a box of tissues. This is such a great tribute to all who served. Thank you, veterans. We can never say it enough.
Mooserella 76
Very nice Veterans Memorial, good exhibits and very well done. So glad it's finally become a place of honor to those who served instead of the previous building. Worth a visit anytime but was truly a nice experience on Memorial day with all the speakers, band, fly over, a fitting tribute.
Leon Miller
Great place to visit to remember the people of the United States who served so we can live in freedom.
Bonnie Klatt
Great museum. We stopped in unplanned and glad we did. Very emotional. Highly recommend if you are a vet or have family members who served.
Rick Harris
The walking trail has a couple features. Ramp to roof is closed half way up. They are resurfacing the roof.
Cheryl Hunt
The museum was fabulous! Celeste at the front desk was so so welcoming! The day we went was a big gathering for veterans (I can't remmeber what it was for but I do know it was Vietnam veterans Memorial Day) while we were there we toured the whole museum by ourselves as everyone was at a luncheon/ceremony/gathering. The memorial/veteran star was not working (technical difficulties) she made sure our two veterans in attendance names were added and she sent us the picture the next day of their names!!!! She even added two more names for us! She was a sweet and very kind welcoming lady that loves her job!!!! Thank you so so so very much Celeste! My husband and his buddy were so honored that they were added to the database for the STAR!!!!!
If you plan to go make sure you check out the outside!!!
Jeffery Bertram
Our guide Dan did a remarkable job.
Chevonne R.
Thank you for your service

Nadine Engler
They are in their 1st year....I am excited to see new exhibits as they are added...
Melissa Clarke
We had a tour at noon. I was early. While i sat and waited for my party, peggy and Marilian were the perfect hostess. We split up and Peggy lead our half of the tour. She was VERRRY knowledgeable about the museum. We had a good time and now I have a much better appeaciation for our dear veterans.
Steve Janke
An exceptional memorial nestled in downtown Columbus. The unique design sparks images of the Golden ratio and the storytelling inside is world class. Highly recommend a visit.
Chuck Damewood
Great Museum. Displays are well done. And staff was really friendly and helpful
Trina Williams
It is the new crown jewel of our city. Very proud. Go at least once..take ur family veteran. Free parking, fully ADA compliant, I was in a electric scooter and had no problems at all, even on elevators.
Jamie Stabl
Attended last Wednesday because it was free with your library card. I was shocked that only a handful of people were there during the 2 hours it took us to tour. Regular cost is $17 a person, a dollar off if you have AAA. Veterans are free, but family members need to pay. A full history of all US battles and wars here and overseas with the emphasis on the veteran. The museum is definitely dedicated to the veteran and their experiences in all aspects of serving. From volunteering to being drafted, too long tours and coming home. In the lower level a new display for PTSD, a very sad look at the issue. You can easily go through the whole museum in 2 hours and that's taking your time. There are volunteers there that will provide guided tours and also an overview, or you can just go on your own. I believe you will find this trip to be very worthwhile.
Cody Allen
An excellent museum. It contains stories of many servicemen and women, numerous items such as eating kits, and more. I went during Memorial Day and the top had a beautiful sight of the river.
Melodie Hayes
This place is amazing, truly moving. Can't take it all in on one visit.
Jim Leuthold
Very well done. Every student in the area should have to visit and study what others have done for them.
Dan Araujo
Very nice museum to learn about all of the US wars. The Wall that Heals was here for the memorial weekend.
Ina Warrick
Very nice veterans museum. The timeline that begins at the beginning of the tour is very informative. Be sure to leave plenty of time to read the captions on displays and listen to the audio of veterans, their families and friends.
Cornelius Sweeney
Lots of parking, easy access, guided tours, and well informed volunteers. It's a sobering experience, and it takes time to absorb all the information. Well worth a visit.
Joseph Fridley
Outstanding place if you have never gone you need to. Esp if you are a veteran.
Y Pushkin (YP)
Wonderful place. Excellent exhibition. You can spend hours there reading and listening to the stories.
RB Urban
Quite an emtional experience. The architecture is outstanding which serves the beautifully curated exhibits well.
You may wish to bring tissues.
Joshua Mitchell
An informative and emotionally stirring view of an Armed Forces veteran. The stories are unique and interesting, the staff is welcoming, and the museum sheds light on the Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder epidemic for veterans as well. Anyone who spends time there will develop a greater appreciation for those who serve and have served in the U.S. military.
Monica Leach
If you haven't been, must go, it's a lot to take in and wonderfully done. 👏👍 …
Pam Lucas
We went w a group of Seniors. So much of interest to read and see. Loved the pictures hanging in the area street-side. On one side was the picture while in the service, and the other side had a picture of them post-service. Nice personalizing touch. Will go again on our own time schedule so we aren't rushed. THEN go across the street to the Spaghetti Warehouse for delicious Italian food!
Elisa C.
Interesting museum to help you learn more about the US war history. The timeline is very helpful for that purpose. Also, to understand better about soldiers who serve in the army. The top of the building is ok. I thought it would have a better view of the city.
Isidoros Tiano
Moving experience. Good for young people to feel the impact of war and the reality of each generation having to be brave to deliver freedom to the next. Powerful exhibits. You need to take your time to go through it.
Emily Czyzewski
I absolutely LOVE this museum! My family and I think it’s better than the Rock N Roll HOF! The tickets are fairly priced, and even the souvenirs are fairly priced! The exhibits were so technologically advanced which made the experience super educating, interactive, and amazing. The staff is very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful as well. I would recommend that everyone should go here.
Kevin Wright
Veterans get in free. SO much to see and respect.
Kat King
Went here for an event, but got a chance to look around. Gorgeous building. The rainbow window on the mezzanine is lovely. I'd like to see more women prominently displayed, not only as soldiers but nurses from earlier wars.
Keith Paré
Great bunch of people. Very friendly staff. Plan to spend a few hours here. It is educational, inspirational, and emotional. I highly recommend visiting this memorial. Truly worth your time. I wish more people would see what or veterans are going thru durings wars and after.
Eric Rine
Wow, this place is amazing! The staff is friendly, the catering is wonderful, and the place itself is immaculate from the walk up through the flags to the very last detail inside.
The entire entrance is handicap friendly, as there is not a single stair leading to the building. The lighting is perfect. You won't be disappointed and your thoughts will definitely be with those who've served.
Pam Taylor
What a beautiful way to honor the heros of all of our Military 🎖️🪖 Branches!!! …
OH is Home
The History of our great nation, and the sacrifices made for our freedoms, comes alive in this museum. But also does a good job of honoring the ones that had to pay the overwhelming price for that. Great job done in this beautiful building and grounds. My 13 year old grandson loved it. Veterans visit is a free admission always.
Rebecca DeLugish
Very well done. Just opened a couple of months ago and I think it's not quite done yet. The museum map shows space for a cafe that isn't there and another exhibit space that isn't currently open. Will definitely go back another time. I think admission should be free not just for veterans, but for active duty members as well (they only get a small discount). I'm neither, and I have no problem paying full price for my own admission. Just seems odd to me.
UPDATE: They now let in all veterans AND active duty members for free! Yea!
Pam Blosser
Veteran Companion Animal Services hosted their very first, I'm With Abe Gala at the Memorial Museum on May 15, 2021, Armed Forces Day. The staff there were awesome to work with, making things run ever so smoothly. The venue was the perfect setting for our charity event, making the evening a success and most memorable for all who attended!
Don Hayes
3 hour walking tour of timeline starting 1775 of America soldiers. Mostly reading and pictorial with a few interactive exhibits. Very good memorial and historical encounter.
Jack Butler
The new veterans memorial pays great tribute to those who served. I was lucky enough to visit for the first time when they had a D-Day veteran talk about his experience in Europe on the 75th anniversary of the landings. You can easily spend a few hours wandering the exhibits and be humbled. Architecturally, the building is a beauty as well. Absolutely worth a visit.
Patricia Lange-Otsuka
Very moving museum. Veterans receive free admission. 3 floors and outside garden, elevator, wheelchairs available. Volunteers are very helpful. Opened October 2018 and planning addition of cafe and gift shop this year. Has conference room space, free parking, garden would be nice place for commissioning ceremony.
Dennis E. Irizarry
This is an awesome veterans museum. It has 3 levels of exhibits of our own Ohio veterans and their stories. It is a must see if in the Columbus Ohio area. I loved the experience.
John Hanline
Great museum. Friendly staff. Exhibits are beautifully done. Highly recommend.
mit MITC3DT
As a Veteran (free parking, free admission) worth a visit. Not a huge museum, e.g. Smithsonian (Wash DC) or National Air & Space (Wright-Patterson AFB), but does a good job of focusing on "veterans" and veteran issues. You can cover the entire museum in ~1 hour and get a cursory view of all their dioramas; plan on a couple hours if you like to read & absorb the descriptions.
Jason Norris
The Museum and Memorial is a wonderful experience. A nice display of history of veterans and their service to our great nation. Today we saw the rotating exhibit honoring Bob Hope. Learned some new tidbits about him and the USO Shows operations.
Erin DeGraaf
Setup was very tastefully done! My husband is a Vet and there were a few times he got choked up! Thank you for honoring them with such a beautiful building and inside set up.
Todd Evans
Excellent exhibit. Covers the military experience from the revolution to the current. Lots of interactive displays with videos from vets giving first hand accounts of their experiences. Artifacts and memorabilia are on display as well. Plan to spend at least two hours to take in all of the contents. Could be emotionally draining for some but definitely not to be missed.
Marcel Tibbs
Was there for a music festival and that view on the roof is truly amazing. What a great atmosphere.
Michael Phipps
A place to honor those who have served in the armed forces.
T Dwayne W
This is a great museum and it focus the human side of being of the military. Focus on what’s it like to go and be separated from your family. Reading the personal letters from those who served and were killed in combat was moving. Also like the stories of coming home from war and the transition from military to civilian life.
Yes in my opinion it is worth the admission price. The museum is less than 6 months old and I believe will get better over time.
Warren Hess
This is a great museum with a powerful message.
Rebecca Rose
Worth it. Went to see Mary Whyte exhibit which was beautiful. Paintings of veterans from every state. Then took in museum. Video exhibit of vet stories was compelling. History of all wars. Very well done.
Amol Fish
I love the heart and sole that went into accomplishing this dream. Congratulations.
William Knall
What a fantastic place! I'd recommend spending time to see the fantastic displays.we spent several hours doing the tour. A great tribute to all veterans and their families.
K Miller
This new museum provides a great overall understanding of wartime for which the USA has experienced and been involved. The personal effects connected with photos of the people for which they belong brought a greater sense of reality. The life and conditions for which men and women served are country is poignant.
As I read my way through this museum, I did cry. My bil was KIA. My heart and mind were touched deeply. It made me even more grateful for family members and friends currently serving and having served in the past. I believe this museum has a great exhibit for anyone ages teen and up.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars as I did not see much history in regards to wartime on anyone local or from the state of Ohio with the exception of John Glenn. It was very crowded so I may have just missed the other people.
John Shaw
This is a beautiful facility that strives to tell every veterans story. All services are represented, National Guard, Air Guard and Reserve Veterans as well. The museum highlights women and minority veterans as well. There is a recording booth for each veteran to tell their story. I am proud to have served in the Army for 31 years. I love that veterans have a place to share their life story.
Jim Thompson
Awesome experience. If you know a veteran, you should take them there. They will never forget the feeling they have as they walk through the museum.
Kevin Busick
I hate to say, but I was expecting more. They have a huge building but only utilize a small part of that for the displays. Very expensive for the experience, it's more like a donation.
Ryan Thorpe
The facility is great and the collection is growing. They don't have a ton of stuff, but the point is to collect veteran's stories, not items. It's a very good reminder of the sacrifices veterans make to maintain our freedom. Thank you to all who have served, and especially those that made the ultimate sacrifice.
Emily Fish
Awesome exhibits! Simply amazing!
However, we went on Veteran's Day and were not impressed with their "military friendliness"
My husband is currently active duty, an Afghanistan War veteran, and the museum failed to define "veteran." The military discount offered was $2 off admission and $2 off parking, where a veteran (retiree) is free.
We went to this museum because we ordinarily couldn't afford admission but thought on Veteran's Day he could get in free as advertised. However, because he is still actively serving, he did not qualify as a "veteran" per their definition.
Maybe next time they should clarify that only retirees get in free.
We don't regret going, but we are disappointed in the treatment we received.
Leah Lambert
This is a new museum. The architecture is unique and quite wonderful. The exhibits are very good and flow easily. This is a good destination for adults or older teens but would be boring for younger children.
Annamae Mckerns
This is one of the most amazing attractions in Columbus Ohio. This Memorial and Museum presents a very thoughtful and Visually attractive historical perspective all the wars that involve America and all of the process that are young men and women must complete and endure in order to be appropriately trained and ready for combat and service to our country. Don't miss this one. Active service men and veterans enter for free
M P
Brand new Veterans museum. Well done
Jennifer Ecker
Very interesting and nice museum.
Douglas Huber
The National Veterans Memorial and Museum is an amazing place to learn about the history of who has served this country. Interactive exhibits, stories told by veterans themselves. Columbus businesses and philanthropists made this happen. Well worth your time.
James Drozdowski
When I was young, my father corrected me after saying that he "won" metals while in Vietnam serving as FO for an FA battery. Through his words, at that young age, he implanted a perspective in me that I take with me always. Fast forward several years, it was a humbling privilege to visit this memorial with him per his request. I think the memorial does an excellent job conveying the many different aspects of military service - and it's impact on family members - by highlighting veteran's experiences, often told in their own words.
Elaine Housley
Great place to learn more about American history and the military. Would take a couple of hours to see it all
Every one should visit at least once.
Staff was very knowledgeable and helpful.
Plan to pay admission and parking charges.
James Humphres
I was actually a little disappointed. First just because its winter the main entrance is not available so instead you have to walk thru some hidden side door & go thru part of the museum just to get to the desk to pay the entrance fee. Once inside the museum I dont see what all the hype is about. I'm a veteran & expected more. It's ok to see it once I guess but I definitely wont be making this a permanent stop on my museum tours.
Bob Roehm
I visited the National Veterans Memorial and Museum yesterday [12-29-2018] while admission [there and at five other Columbus locations] had been free in celebration of the 75th anniversary of The Columbus Foundation.
The line to be admitted into this newly-opened museum [on the site where the former-but-now-torn-down "Veterans Memorial" auditorium had been located] had been long; traffic on W. Broad St. had been nearly stopped the entire time that I had been there [because admission had also been free, right across the street, at COSI, Center of Science and Industry].
The lighting and the exhibit design at the National Veterans Memorial and Museum had made for an extremely interesting visit though I must admit that, at times, the lighting level in several of the areas had been too low for me to be able to see very much.
My favorite design element had been the use of large dates [for example, "1941-1945"] near the top of clear plastic display panels and the use of spotlights to create shadows of those large dates [as well as other display elements] on the wall behind the clear display panels.
Another design element that I had particularly liked had been a large blue animated "15 million veterans served in wartime" star that would change its display every few seconds and would attract, in particular, children who would enjoy moving their hands near that changing-every-few-seconds star.
Near the end of my visit, I spoke with one visitor who had pointed out to me that the narrative of the "9/11" events had not been historically accurate; I had not read all of the words in the exhibit because it had been way too crowded yesterday.
Karen Abdulrasheed

This museum focuses on the people who have risked their lives for our freedom over the decades. Personal stories from the people who lived it. Deep engaging content for adults, and lots of material for educating kids too.

This was really well done. It has a chronological ordering of the wars, and does a good job of focusing on the vets. I could have spent more time there though the time I spent there was enough. I would definitely go again.

Was a very sobering event.GREAT displayed and awesome information about soldiers and the patriotic duty to America. The only thing is theres alot of blood spilled on this flag of ours that most people don't know or they take it for granted.Serious stuff and l came out there with no picture except l took the front of the building. For a sad visit but a good reminder on who and what America stands for.Freedom for all.

Was in town to go to a show and thought this would be worth a stop. There was no wait and the staff was very pleasant. I enjoyed talking with the veteran volunteers. Took us about 45 minutes to take everything in. It was kind of a shame that we were the only 2 there. Parking lot is located nearby.
Josh VanderLeest
Smaller museum and kind of pricey. Really enjoyed the up to date material. Took us ~1.5 hours to complete. Knowledgeable, friendly staff. Parking is $8.

(Translation) The entrance costs 17 dls. It basically recalls the history of the war that the US has lived through. My only regret about this place is that on the virtual tour (screens on some tables) they describe the victories against Mexico. But if in 1847 they invaded us. that's the story
(Original)
