Reviews of Frank Lloyd Wright Home & Studio
Sara Beth Wade
Oh WOW - I knew I liked Frank Lloyd Wright's prairie-style modern architecture but being in his own home and seeing his studio is really incredible. I love how cozy everything is yet still filled with light. The hour-long tour is very friendly and interesting and it's just incredible to see inside his house and his mind.
You don't enter on the Chicago street side, where his studio is - enter through the gift shop to the left side. Tours start there and go through his house first, then out through the studio. It's not to be missed!
Bradley C
Certainly worth the trip whenever you’re in the Chicago area. Impossible not to appreciate the beauty and influence of Frank Lloyd Wright’s own home and studio on the design world. Make sure this is part of your itinerary next time you’re near Lake Michigan! Highly recommend. Helpful staff also.
Nathan Landreville
For lovers of architecture, this is a truly unique and amazing walking tour. Plenty of options to choose from. Mark was a fantastic tour guide on our 3.5 hour tour of the home, studio, and Oak Park residences.
Roxy Beaudet
Tour was very educational. I learned more about architecture than I thought I wanted to know. Very interesting facts and stories. The house itself is beautiful and learning the history of the area was fascinating.
Jim Swislocki
Cool self-paced walking tour of the neighborhood featured several of the homes FLW built. The guided tour of his personal residence and studio was informational and very interesting. The tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable.
J. BISBAL
Totally worth a visit and guided tour for anyone interested in the story of Chicago and world Architecture. The self guided tour through the neighborhood is also interesting and educational. Gift shop has tons of related merchandise and books.
Kim R
I absolutely loved this tour! Such a gorgeous home and studio. If you like FLW architecture, this tour is a must
Daniel Campbell
The trek out to Oak Park is a long one, but for the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio, it’s worth it! The volunteer tour guides are very friendly and knowledgeable. The tour is very interesting and shows you around the house and studio where Frank Lloyd Wright made a third of his buildings.
Robert
Wife and I loved the tour. If you pay a bit more you get to be in a smaller group and then you are able to go up to this overwatch part of the home. The neighborhood walking tour was like a loop that was about 3/4 of a mile. The tour guide was polite and knowledgeable
Everardo Meza jr
Pretty great and informative 1 hour tour. Tiny spaces and rooms can get scrunched in with strangers. Other great homes around the block (to admire from the sidewalk).

Frank Lloyd Wright is rightfully one of the Mid-Century Modernist movement's most famous architects. The concept of building cool houses into natural landscapes. The serene Fallingwater home in Mill Run, Pennsylvania, however, is probably the most famous work he designed because it’s built over a natural waterfall on Bear Run.
The technology has made impossible-seeming projects a reality. From a supremely modern cross-shaped residence carved into a giant boulder in the Saudi Arabian desert to a glass box built into the edge of a Canadian cliff, these special houses seem more like livable art. Here, AD takes a look at nine avant-garde homes that coexist with nature in a big way. Congratulations Frank!
Nancy Booth
A worthwhile indoor tour to appreciate one of the most influential architects and understand his inspiration. We did the audio walking tour directly after doing the indoor home and studio tour and one flowed well into the other.
Angie McVeigh
If your a fan of his work or want to know more, this is a great place to start. This was the beginning of the FLW home tour they put on this year. I'm so glad i visited. You're able to see his style progression in his early work here and the other houses in the neighborhood. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and the tour flowed well through the house. I'll definitely come back.
Mark Naes
We totally enjoyed this tour. The docent was excellent. Knowledgeable taking a generous amount of time for questions. It was nice that the building contained furnishings to clearly define the property. I would recommend this tour if you have an opportunity or desire to learn more or be introduced to Frank Lloyd Wright.
Margaret Li
Such an awesome visit! Highly recommend for any architecture lover! I did the interior tour on a rainy day so we didn't spend much time talking the exterior, but great tour nonetheless. Suggest booking tickets ahead of time.
Jennifer G. Thompson
This is worth every penny for the tour. I love learning about how he lived and his history. This home is set in a wonderful area with a well manicured lawn. I also enjoyed the gift shop.
Definitely plan ahead to spend all day in the Oak Park area. I was surprised by some of the sizes of the rooms and furniture. When visiting the city, be sure to tour.

An excellent tour for Architects and those interested in learning about history. This tour will guide about Frank Lloyd’s architecture style and it’s implementation. There are 2-3 tours happening simultaneously in the house. One star less because first you are encouraged to go and see the small details in the room and see the space. Later when if a room is small u r scolded for being in other room. If the tour timings are well managed and properly instructed where to visit and where not there will not be any confusion. Disappointed on the part of management but a must do for interested people.
Irem Yoruk
Loved this place. Our tour guide was amazing. She told us all the stories behind the house and the as architect. We are also so glad we started with the Wright house before visiting the others. It was a great tour, very informative to we later appreciated all the ground knowledge we got here, as we were touring the other houses in Chicago. We also recommend that you take the walking tour of the houses in the neighborhood where you listen to their history and artistic choices with a speaker device.
Karen Bland
We were able to get a weekday reservation pretty easily. Weekend was pretty booked. Our tour guide was wonderful and informative. The house was restored to it's original splendor after being turned into apartments...yikes! There are several other FLW designed homes on the same street...an easy walk from his corner home. There is a cute gift shop with lovely souvenirs.
Luke Robson
I've visited many house museums of architectural significance, this has to be one of the best! The guided tour brings life to the bricks and mortar and ignites the joy in the spaces. We visited off season and luckily had a personal tour guide, Mark Campbell was warm, welcoming, passionate and knowledgeable and made the experience unforgettable. He also kindly directed us to other local points of interest.
Chadwick R
Amazing house and a phenomenal tour! Loved everything about my experience here. The gift shop also has plenty of FLW goodies.
Firefalcon7193
The indoor tour was amazing. Our guide was great. It was amazing to learn about one of the most famous architects of all time. The outdoor tour was underwhelming. We were not given the audio guide promised. We just got a sheet of paper.
Ang
Fun tour and very informative. Frank Lloyd Wright has done a lot in Arizona as well and it was nice to see the difference. The tour guide was friendly! I'd recommend getting tickets ahead of time, we didn't but only had to wait about an hour and just explored the area.
Jenne Holmes
If you are a Frank Lloyd Wright fan this is a must! This is where the story of his unique style of architecture began. The guide I had on my tour was witty, intelligent and very knowledgable which made the entire experience so pleasurable. Even those who think they know all there is to know about the master of space will learn something from visiting this space.
Even on a colder and drab late fall day this house and studio tour lightened my day just as Frank himself had intended I'm sure.
Allie Toney
An awesome experience. The staff was super friendly. The home/studio tour was informative and enjoyable.
Highly recommend getting both the indoor tour and the audio tour for the neighborhood.
JINXED MOMO
We took the one hour FLW home and studio tour and it was pretty good! Consider buying the annual membership if you plan on visiting all of Wright’s works in the area, especially with a plus one or family.
The tour is thorough, and well organized for social distancing in these COVID-19 times. Great information. Very well maintained premises. Amicable staff and guide. Plenty street parking (on weekdays) available in the vicinity. Gift shop is fairly good too.
Daniel Harcourt
It was absolutely awesome! I really wish that I would have gone years ago! It was so so amazing to see the home and studio of Frank Lloyd Wright. I absolutely recommend seeing this! It's a must see in my book!
Marti Travels
Great tour and it was mostly outdoors. Home and studio tour was great. Clean and distanced within a small group. Add the walking tour to learn about other FLW homes within a few blocks.
Bennie Good
Very nice tour. An interesting look into the early life of an architect-genius. We had to wait about an hour for our tour, so we had time to walk around Oak Park and see several FLW homes. Our tour guide, Mary, did a nice job getting us through the home and studio. Highly recommend this if you have time.
hannah ludwig
This was my first tour of a Frank Lloyd Wright site. My visit exceeded my expectations! My group guide was so knowledgeable on Wright’s life and work experience...I learned so much. I was taken away with how beautiful this home was. I had seen pictures before going, but being inside his actual home is whole different experience. Pictures don’t do Wright’s architecture justice, go and walk through this home and studio! The staff/guides are so friendly, and they’re quick to answer any questions and give recommendations on what other Wright places to visit! For such a cheap price, this tour is definitely worth it. I hope to visit again with more friends! PS: going at Christmas time means getting to see the gorgeous tree in the play room.
Anderson England
We took the Green Line from downtown Chicago out to Oak Park. It could not have been easier. The walk from the station took about 15 minutes. Along the way you may observe other Frank Lloyd Wright designs. The museum tour commenced in the gift shop. The tour was informative but the guides did a good job of moving us along. The home and studio were part of the tour. Photos were allowed(+!). There are clean public restrooms, a gift shop and local advice about homes located nearby.
Kevin
How can you not absorb and feel the architecture created here.
This is the first house Frank built for his family and a connected studio for his architectural designing.
A significant piece of architectural history and beginning of a visionary architecture design career that would change the course for interpreting building design aesthetics.
A lovely place, a must visit.
William Taylor
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and took great care to make sure the group was enjoying themselves. It was really cool to see the different architecture styles of Mr. Wright within his own home and office. Highly recommend spending the money and time to check this out.
Warren Cope
Book time online ahead of arriving. The tour includes some stairs, but not too much. Interesting tour guide gives a history and expansion changes in the house. Good summary and excellent renovation and updating to be close to house when Wright lived and worked there.
Small gift shop has interesting mementos and pricing was reasonable. Access to two restrooms in the gift shop area.
Ryo Chiken
Perfect facility tours by some knowledgeable volunteers. You can see the techniques and wisdom of Frank’s architecture. You can also get some nice small gifts at the shop next to his house.
Simon Han
What an experience! The tour guide was super informative and approachable. Talked about Wright’s influences, signature architectural touches, and life story behind the great 20th century architect. Highly recommend walking around the neighborhood as well. You’ll see lots of houses designed or redesigned by Wright. Definitely worth a visit if you know a little about architecture.
Clayton Lockwood
Very cool tour, gives you a great feel for the era and the place. Tour guides can be a bit quiet
Jared’s Alaska
FANTASTIC tour of the studio and home! The guide was knowledgeable and very receptive to questions. Be sure to walk through the neighborhood and see the other homes he designed as well— several plaques help point out their history. The church he designed (Unity Temple) is also a short 10 minute walk away and WELL worth the visit!
Katie W
This is my absolute favorite historic site and place for a day trip in general.
We went during the little bit of snow over Christmas which was super pretty, and even though it was cold, walking through the area was a delight.
The houses in the neighborhood are lovely, there are some pretty churches and the streets are tidy and photogenic.
The house is stunning, it's amazing to think how old it is, there are aspects of this house that you could still see being used today and it's also amazing to look around and be about to see how much care FLW put into it.
He is hands down my favorite architect and walking round the place he developed his style was hugely meaningful to me.
The tour guide was thorough an clearly knew her stuff and enjoyed herself. I found her a little frustrating in places where she treated the group like children. However the guides are volunteers and they do good work in sharing information and protecting the house.
The gift shop is not your standard gift shop either. The products are lovely and well thought out but expensive. I realised that one of the books I bought had a massive markup on it so watch out and unless it's produced by the foundation, there's a chance you could pay less elsewhere. I don't exactly mind as I'm happy to support their good work but it was a bit of a shock to realise just how much more I'd paid.
Eric Doll
Super great spot to explore prairie style architecture. Such a neat home. Lots of really cool details to see. Doesn't seem to be falling in a state of disrepair. Really huge ginkgo tree in the side yard. The whole neighborhood is really beautiful as well. Worth driving around a bit.
3rd Gen Painting and Remodeling
As a local house painter in Oak Park, the Frank Lloyd Wright tour gave us some fantastic insight into some of the historic homes we've painted in Oak Park and River Forest.
Seriously, taking the tour and a stroll down the blocks of Victorian era historic homes in Oak Park have to be at the top of the to-do list if you are visiting Chicago.
Even if you've lived in Chicago your whole life (like us) and haven't taken the Frank Lloyd Wright tours, we highly recommend taking a weekend to do so.
Certainly, weekdays are best in terms of avoiding the crowds and if you are able to get in and get out between 10am-2pm, you'll avoid Chicagoland's traffic (also historic in nature).
All in all, a great bucket list item for any Chicago tourist, Chicago native, or home architecture aficionado!
Michelle Turenne-Smith
Historically restored architectural gem located on the magnificent Oak Park neighborhood near Chicago. Different tour offerings of which we selected a 3 hour walking tour. 1 hour in the house, 1.5 in the neighborhood and .5 at the Unity Temple. Some of these were named Unesco World Heritage Site. Very knowledgeable Docent. Nice gift shop. A must see!
Jaleel B
Highly recommend this tour to Chicago natives and visitors alike! Educational and beautiful architecture, truly one of a kind place to visit!
Kelsey D.
Delightful tour full of architecture and history. Wright's family assisted the trust in recreating everything as they remember it, and many personal anecdotes are told by the tour guides. Not a lot of time to take pictures inside, but I would 10/10 do it again!
Joe Cunningham
Tip: You can call and reserve your ticket times and then pay for them once you.
Absolutely incredible home with equally incredible tour. The guides are extremely well versed in FLW and the history of the home and his life. Have done the tour twice and both were great.
There is a $4 map that is worth purchasing to see the other FLW houses in the surrounding neighborhood.
D Largent
One third of all of Frank Lloyd Wright's work was done here. Very interesting tour. We've toured three Frank Lloyd Wright homes in the past eight months. Touring multiple places is like putting together a puzzle. You get more information at each place that helps you understand the man and his work as well as the time in which he lived and worked.
Heeju Hong
60mins tour worth it!! I really loved it!
Israel Siria
Another must do in Chicago specially if you are an architect. The tour is very well explained. You can take photos of everything, just need to be quick. Loved this experience, a dream come true for me.
Qingya Shu
This place is amazing! The house and studio are so beatifully designed, genious ideas, harmounios with nature. Interior tour guide was helpful and volunteer very friendly, they also told interesting tricks of those designs and warm stories of Wright's family staying here. Also don't forgot to walk around and enjoy those astonishing colorful houses behind. What a great place to stay. Special recommend and we will definitely come to visit again maybe in summer. :)
Andi
Frank Lloyd Wright Home and studio is a gem. Not only because of its architectural value, but because of the way it’s been preserved, the tours offered in the surrounding houses designed by Chicago’s most prominent architect.
Sara Croft
This was a very interesting tour that a recommend for anyone interested in Frank Lloyd Wright's background of design. The tour was of his home and studio. The most interesting thing learned was that he built around a tree instead of cutting it down when wanting to add his studio to the house. The tree is still growing through the house to this day.
Alex Demas
Really enjoyed the tour; it was neat to see a house that Frank Lloyd Wright used to explore some of his ideas. The tour was a good length and had good information; a good mix of architectural information and personal anecdotes about Frank Lloyd Wright himself. I was pleased that the tour stuck to its hour-length and never overwhelmed me with information.
The grounds were my favorite part-the trees were spectacular. The gift shop was well-stocked and the staff were friendly.
Anon Ymous
The tour of the home and office of beloved architect Frank Lloyd Wright is fantastic and recommend for those interested in his work and particularly this house itself. Our tour guide was a lovely young woman who really did a great job
Emma Tumman
Really easy to get to from downtown on the Green line. It's a bit of a walk from the station, but worth it. The tour was incredibly informative, and gave a real insight into FLWs life. The house has some incredible features and quirks. They have a gift shop, but no cafe. There are restrooms in the shop. There are also a lot of stairs in the house tour that you can't avoid. Definitely worth the trip.
J RonPhoto
Informative & well paced 1 hour tour of home & studio. Left me with a desire to delve deeper into the life & work of F.L. Wright. Wonderful examples of his homes abound the pleasant tree lined neighborhood!
Megan McNulty
Very cool home and lots to see. The tour guide was knowledgeable and very sweet to talk to.
Katherine Gillian
A tribute to the devotion of volunteers and supporters who restored this valuable part of architectural history. A must see for any visitor. The suburb is beautiful.
Pam Shropshire
The tour is great. The guides are very knowledgeable about Wright’s life and work. There is usually a wait, so we walked around the neighborhood in which are several other homes he designed. There is free street parking within a few blocks. Highly recommended.
Don Kudrak
Visited over Memorial Day weekend. Looked online for tours and saw plenty of openings so we didn't buy tickets in advance. Showed up and found all home/studio tours sold out. Only 15 per group so they fill up fast. Wish that had been mentioned online. So...we missed that tour. But...we did the walking tour of the neighborhood. And we actually had a great time. Seeing so many homes that he designed and their story was fascinating. And that tour is cheaper also. Couldn't see indoors since they're private residences but it was a beautiful walk on a beautiful day and we enjoyed it immensely. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Miranda Kissling
Parking was no problem, interesting tour, building was what I expected, gift shop is spacious enough that you can wait inside for your tour to begin (there is often a wait). It cracked me up that they ask people not to step on the fallen fruit from the gingko tree outside. It's inevitable!
Sean M
Highly recommend the home and office (studio) tour. We also did the self guided audio tour which is relatively short in walking and audio guide detail. The audio devices really need daily wipe downs, getting sticky, yuck!
Nikita Krivoshey
Interesting tour for those who appreciate architecture and interior design. Lots of beautiful structures. The tour guide was knowledgeable and covered the history of the house, it's changes, as well as some background in Frank Lloyd Wright.
Michael Forcan
The home is well worth a visit and I won't spoil it by going into any detail. Beyond that and something that should be treated as a part of the tour are the surroundings. The whole neighborhood epitomizes idealic suburban living. If "Leave it to Beaver" became a doctor or lawyer in his adult life he would likely live in a place like this. Take the day and walk to the little downtown area where you'll find the church that FLW designed and the small eateries that look more expensive than they actually are.
Serge Morrell
worth the visit if just to see the piano solution in the upstairs living room. Also walk around the neighborhood to see the other FLW designs
Chris Rehberg
It was great to learn more about FLW and to be in his actual home and studio!
Paul Furth
If you have any interest in Frank Lloyd Wright, this is a place for you. You'll find out much about his early history, his family, his home life and how he built his home while establishing many of the architectural aspects he would use throughout his life. The foundation has done its best to put the home back the way it look during the last year that he lived there. Tour his home and take the self-guided walking tour of the homes he designed around the neighborhood.
Pat Steele
Our visit to the Frank Lloyd Wright home & studio was very enlightening. Our docent took us through the building and gave an excellent explanation of the the way the rooms were structured, and why Mr. Wright structured in that fashion. It gave our group a new understanding of the man and his talents.
Santiago Gunter
Great tour! This was FLW first home and studio. The studio is definitely worth the visit. After you can walk around the neighborhood and spot other Prairie style houses.
Davide Spinello
Definitely worth it. The tour gives interesting insights on the genesis and evolution of several of his designs, mapped into elements of the house and work studio.
Peter Dahl
Very educative about FLW’s first own home, his early carreer and how he established himself as architect. Lots of information from the knowledgable guides of the FLW foundation.
Martn Freeman
I learned about FLR in Germany in school more than 40 years ago. After all that time I came to Chicago to see all that in reality. Mindblowing. Not only the house and the tour in theh ouse was great. The little shop has nice things to buy. And you can make a walk on the streets around the house - with much more beautiful and different FLW houses to see. I am still impressed...
Regina Leslie
Worth the tour. This is a useful eye into history and its effects on current architectural norms. The tour also gives fun personal facts about the Wright family.
Bro C H Bogda Ministries Intl
Nice, but not in the heat. It's not about the heat, it's the gosh darned humidity
Mitchell Clark
This is a unique place to get a sense of Frank Lloyd Wright's history, but not necessarily be immersed in the planning principles that he used to craft dramatic and innovative buildings. While he did design the house himself, the house is not of his more famous prairie or usonian styles. The house is beautiful, and contains many examples of a Frank Lloyd Wright interior, but does not offer the immersive experience in coordinated design principles that some of the other historic properties do. For that reason, it has not been the highlight of my Frank Lloyd Wright experience. The house and studio are fundamental to understanding the man, and definitely worth a visit from enthusiasts.
Rooms of note include the play room, which is amazing, the dining room, and the fireplace nook in the entry. Also extraordinary is the entire studio, which is a more immersive experience in his design principles.
Julia Cohn
My mom and I visited Oak Park this morning to get our Frank Lloyd Wright fill, and we loved our tour of the house and studio (be sure to book this in advance, either online or by phone, at least 2 hrs before tour start time). Afterwards, we used the audio guides offered in the museum shop to do the self-guided tour of the surroundings, and this was less informative. If you only have an hour or so, definitely go for the guided tour of the house + studio! Our guide, Royse, was incredibly well-versed on the history, architectural movements / technical details, and sprinkled in charming anecdotes and helpful ways of remembering key features and influences on Wright's style. I took many architecture history classes in college, and I was thoroughly impressed with Royse! He was extremely knowledgeable and passionate--the perfect mix in a tour guide. Besides the content, he also managed our large group exceptionally well, considering the limited time frame and varied desires of visitors (some wanted to linger in certain room, take photos, others had specific questions, etc), and he projected his voice very well so you could always hear his explanations clearly. Through his guidance, we appreciated details of the house and studio spaces and learned a lot about FLW. Thanks, Royse!
Sarah Tobias
Highly recommend this tour and experience. The docents are experienced and love what they do. You will learn so much about Frank Lloyd Wright and his family. Rooms within rooms, his early years finding his personal style, and preserving American history.
Pookie Rosa (Pookie Rosa)
Love love love! Worth every second.
Eduardo Charters Morais
In his house the architect explores his ideas sometimes in embrionary form. The guided tour can elucidate how he ran his life/work.
vivian piccone jung (Port Jefferson Pilates)
I took the self guided audio tour. You have to get tickets early or risk being sold out for the guided tour. But I loved the walk around. Very interesting and enlightening.
Jim Edwards
Wonderful guided tour of the FLW home and studio, along with an audio tour of several Wright-designed homes within a few blocks. Highly recommended.
Leonel Barragán
For Architecture students, professionals and admirers this place is worth visiting as well as the ample array of homes and buildings nearby in Oak Park near Chicago, IL. Allow plenty of wait time for paid daily scheduled tours and visit to the gift shop which at times can get crowded and rushed. Additional time needed to drive to all locations described in map for purchase at the gift shop. Nothing is free or gifted there as are all Frank Lloyd Wright's works throughout the USA.
Rin Mintaka
If you have the opportunity to go on the interior tour, then go! So much vibrant history anoint Frank Lloyd Wrights early years.
Sandy Wolf
Excellent tour. Lots to see and to learn about.
charles carway
The tour provides great insights into the life of Wright. Original furniture and furnishings from when he lived there, makes it seem youre stopping in to say hello to him.
Heather Hunt
Highly recommend to those interested in Frank Lloyd Wright's architecture and creative process. The tour of his home and studio are led by very knowledgeable volunteers who offer a comprehensive understanding of his life and work.
Alfonso Nieves-Vélez
THE place to know, first hand, FLW's contribution to Oak Park and to Chicago. Chuck, the tour guide, was excellent and had a great vibe and humor.
The store has a wonderful selection of artifacts that reflects FLW. A MUST SEE PLACE!
Don't forget to do the tour and walk around Oak Park to see FLW houses.
Peter Chanthanakone (Director)
Great American history on an amazing designer. Excellent tour guide I had... Lots to see around the neighborhood
Ruby DJ
It’s kind of small for the amount of money they charge, but the tour was fascinating, combined with the walking tour of the other FLW houses in Oak Park, it’s the perfect thing to do with out if town visitors on a nice day.
Johan H
Delightful visit, very informative and a real insight into his life - so many of his houses within walking distance too
Andrew Taylor
Really interesting Home and museum with very friendly and knowledgable staff and volunteers. We did he 3 hour tour that was very detailed and covered both the house, studio and wider neighbourhood. The only thing that could have improved the tour would be some context on what other architects of his period were doing so you know what was different about what he did. Found reading about his life interesting after the tour.
Scott Bloom
Great visit. Learned a lot about his first home and studio. Beautiful but different than his later works.
Phoebe Boomer
My boyfriend and I bought tickets for the indoor tour today. We had an absolute blast! Not only was the house structurally outstanding, but also Frank (our tour guide) was incredibly knowledgeable and eager to share his wealth of understanding. This tour is certainly worth the investment, and I strongly recommend it (especially with Frank) for those interested in history, architecture, or a unique Chicagoan experience.
Noelia Vanden Braber
It’s very interesting to know Wright’s first steps and the way in which his architectural work was inspired.
Saly
Beautiful home and studio- highly recommend booking a tour & checking out the gift shop on the way out
Lisa S.
Book tickets in advance to ensure a spot on their guided tour. My friend and I ubered out from downtown Chicago and $27 later we were unable to book a tour without missing out flight. That said, their gift shop is very good. However, they won't ship but direct you to order online. The grounds are lovely and well shaded. I will go again and be better prepared.
Bruce R Cordell
Of all the rooms in Lloyd's home, the general use/child play room was the most magnificent. Behold Aladdin and the djinni from the lamp.
Yvonne Koay
Very well-preserved and worth a visit. Our tour guide was great
Sam Lim
If you are into architecture, do the guided tour. It is amazing to hear the back stories.
Christian Glahn
Must visit for architecture fans. Make sure Not to miss Frank Lloyd Wright’s buildings in the neighborhood. The tour focuses only on the house.
M M
We did the self guided tour of the neighborhood. It was cool but wasn’t particularly special.
Tom Johnson
This is a good way to learn the basics of Frank Lloyd Wright and the impact he had on the world of architecture. The tour is an hour for $20. We'll worth it. None of us are particularly interested but we all enjoyed this experience.
Taryn Hryc
Buy your tickets in advance - the walking tours sell out quickly. Do the self walk audio tour first, take about 45 minutes and you see 10 houses and get a good understanding of FLW. Then go on the Home & Studio tour (2 hours). It's all great and so interesting. There are longer, more in depth tours available too.
Peter Agliata
Good tour with a knowledgeable guide. Lots of great history and information on FLW. Some places are inaccessible. It’s not as amazing as many of his other houses and clearly a mish mash of evolving ideas. Be sure to check out the Robie house with the walking self guided tour. Overall, happy to have visited.
Raiford Palmer
Worth the trip. The heart of Prairie Style and Wright. Don't miss the tour and for bonus points go see Robie House in Chicago. Lovingly restored home and workplace of FLLW. Great docents give the tours - and the place has a very nice gift shop with a great selection.
John Otto K
Oak Park is a fantastic town! Especially all the Frank Lloyd Wright property in the area.
Beth M
Tom gave our group a great tour. I left with a better appreciation of Wright’s artistry, passion, family and career.
Dani Clopton
Went later in the day. The staff stood in a group chatting behind the counter and were disinterested in helping us. 3 stars because of the home itself.
Sarah Brunson
Great tour of house and studio. While I have looked at Frank Lloyd's houses in books (longingly), this was our first experience being in one. Transcendental.
Mark Halloran
I've seen a few structures by Frank Lloyd Wright and this was the best so far, apart from the Guggenheim which holds interest beyond the architecture. Probably need to see Fallingwater next.
Colin Hayes
Wow. Just wow. The home is incredible to see on its own, but the tour guides add a layer of depth that you'd never get on your own. This is definitely worth a trip, even if you live in the city. It took me 9 years before I came here, and of course it took family visiting to make it happen. Just go, don't wait for family to come and force you to play tour guide.
Florian ABGRALL
It was one of my must to do thing in Chicago. If you enjoy Frank Lloyd Wright’s work, you need to do a neighborhood tour!
Fantastic work!
Amogh Prabhu
Great tour, loved the ceilings in the house. The gift store is on the expensive side. Oak Park is a great neighborhood to walk around with or without the walking tour.
Steven Carini
Great tour. Beautiful houses. Toured the house and studio, then took the walking tour thru the neighborhood.
Hans van den broeck
The museum tour took about an hour and was really worth the visit. The guide told about the house and life/lifestyle of mr Wright when he built and lived in the house. The archetecture info was interesting!
If in Chicago, please visit!!!
Carlos Meza
If you’re in Chicago, the trip all the way to Oak Park is worth it. Take the tour of the house and buy a FLW T-Shirt at the gift shop
Zsolt Elekes
If you are around Oak Park, you cannot miss this one. Tells a lot about the FLW architecture, ut also about the architectural boom after the Great Fire.
Carol Irvine
Amazing wonderful docents wonderful staff...
The whole experience was amazing THANK YOU but be warned
Restrooms in visitors center need some updating/venilation/attention
Still Life Yoga
I'm not really a FLW fanatic, but the tour was very interesting and it was worth the train ride from the city. The tour offered a nice peek into the thought process of this world renown architect. Some of the designs are truly amazing. At the end of the tour another guest asked about Wright's private life and the tour guide briefly mentioned some of the details of his marriages and divorce which were also interesting. My wife is now reading a book by Nancy Horan based on Frank Lloyd Wright's life called "Loving Frank". Also, before or after the tour, walk around the neighborhood and check out several other home Frank Lloyd Wright designed.
Jason Morgan
We took a wonderful tour, the Wright Around Oak Park tour, which included a detailed showing of Wright's house and studio (an hour or so), and then another hour-plus tour of houses in the neighborhood. It was a lot of architecture and history, but was well worth it for any Wright fans or people interested in American residential design. My only small compaint was the tour didn't sufficiently locate Wright in the overall picture of American architecture of the time. It is a must see, in my opinion. And so easy to get to from the Loop.
Shannon Varela
Wonderful experience! Had a very knowledgeable guide that shed light on much of the home/studio's history and evolution.
Lauren Abresch
Great tour and worth the trek out to Oak Park. My husband and I did the basic tour of the home and studio. Although we have toured several FLW homes previously, we really learned a lot during the 60 minute tour and had a unique experience seeing the studio where the magic happened in the early days. We didn't do any other guided tour of the area, but it was really fun to walk from the closest L station (Oak Park, green line) and look at the architecture in the surrounding area - lots of other FLW homes and unique homes, too!
The gift shop here seemed to have a much larger selection than other FLW tours in the area (including Robie house), so if you'd like a memento to take home, I'd recommend buying one here. Also, I recommend buying tickets in advance online; dates and times go fast, especially during tourist season!
Jay Smith
Really enjoyed the tour and the house has great character. Many photo opportunities and a nice gift shop. Most of the staff are friendly and informative. I highly recommend!
Mauro F Cardoso Lins
Good tour. Very interesting info by analyzing the aspects of the house of an architecture genius
Diane Popper
Absolutely fabulous tour of the house and studio. I learned so much not only about Frank Lloyd Wright's approach to architecture and style but also about his personal life. This is definitely a tour you should take if you have any interest in this man's work. So glad that I had the opportunity to take this tour.
Kevin Chiappone
This was a tour that my wife has wanted to do for quite some time. We were not disappointed. I never really knew the FLW history but it was made fascinating by our spectacular giude!
Cheryl Kaufman
Didn't go on official tour but museum shop is fun and flw houses in the area
Gary Yan
Great tour explaining the origins of FLW’s design style and his legacy in Oak Park and beyond. Recommend pairing the studio tour with a walking tour so you can see the homes on the neighboring block.
Alex Cullen
Pictures don’t do it justice. One of a kind amazing piece of art.
Andrea Guido Biasi
The tour of his home and studio takes about an hour. An interesting view of his early home and his early career.
Wend Webb
Driving around Oak Park is aweinspiring. Gorgeous designs from FLW are everywhere. Visiting his studio/home where he created his masterpieces is fun and informative. My 7 month old decided to stay outside and play with her daddy😊 …
Ron Champa
Excellent experience. Our tour guide, Melissa was very informative. She was a volunteer.
I recomend this to anyone who likes architecture
Tina Carpenter (Tina)
I didn't have time to your but parking on street was easy and was still able to walk around building and gift shop for classic FLW aights
Matt Raveling
Frank was a great guide, very knowledgeable and passionate about Frank Lloyd Wright, his architectural style and the home and studio he built!
Andrea Erminio Intoccia
Fantastic place. Home and studio of the legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
Wayne Ma
Very beautiful place with lots of magnificent huge houses. The town is very quite and claim. The designer is really a genius.
Bo-Jiang Lin
Love the delicate wooden structure. It's so warming and pleasant. Thanks to our tour guide. She is knowledgeable about the story of Frank Llyod Wright. BTW, they accept the ISIC, international student identity card, as a proof of reduced price. It is really friendly for a foreign student.
Pete Boisclair
I went on a tour of this place as a young teenager but loved getting to come back and refresh my memory about what the home and studio look like. The 18 unique zoned air conditioning system is impressive and much appreciated on hot days like when my family went here. The gift shop is awesome and the whole property is meticulously maintained and restored. Definitely worth stopping at!!
Suji Mao
There were so many creative little elements to the home, you can see how he tinkered around with ideas he had in his head in his own house while it functioned as a home for his wife and kids.
David Frederick
Wonderful tour and worth the time to see the FLW masterpiece.
Ember Urbach
Beautiful place with a good tour. Our tour guide was fast and didn't leave much time for questions but I still enjoyed it.
Deborah Solomon
Our tour was rushed thru by another group after us. This flustered our guide. 18 in our group was large for the spaces. Love the buildings!!
Shruti Parikh
Loved octagons in studio. They have amazing tours everyday, worth every penny.
Lucy Wiedenfeld
Wish I had more time. Wish I did the audio walking tour too.
Mike Holbrook
Loved the tour
Matt Hamilton
This is such a great place to visit. The Tour is something you should do, not just drive-by.
Catatiu Aversi
Really interesting and full of details.
gomami go
Beautiful place to know more about Frank Lloyd, the staff is very friendly and there are some houses you can marvel at on that street.
Route 45
Great tour to directly learn about the Wright family (prior to his departure), his architectural style, preferences and influences for his home and studio. Our docent stayed within the history of his time living in this Oak Park landmark with little bits and pieces about the children and Catherine. We purchased our tickets in the lovely gift shop instead of online. It was a busy Sunday and a gorgeous autumn day, but we had no problems fitting into one of the groups with a wait of about 25 minutes, which allowed us plenty of time to browse. It is also worthwhile to walk around this area taking in all the amazing homes and places of worship. The architecture around the neighborhood is astounding!
Paul King
Incredible tour of a remarkable home and studio. Well worth the side trip and admission.
Caleb S
Pretty good museum shop. Make sure to arrive early enough to be able to still book a tour, or book online. Also note that most of the houses in the neighborhood are privately owned, you cannot see inside them except on special occasions.
Mario Walker
Wonder experience! His other projects within the neighborhood are a must see as well!
Logan Williams
The guides are fantastic! Extremely knowledgeable and just a joy to be around. The tour was exciting and I was interested the entire time. I got to see everything and learned more than I did in my Architectural History class. The gift shop is fair priced. It’s a must see if you’re in the Chicago area and want to learn some architecture history or want to enjoy a cool house!
Laura Gammons
This is where he lived and it is very cool to learn how he developed his style, as is evidence here.
Anne Scott
Great volunteers! Learned alot of FLW's first 20 years as an architect.
Jourdan Ducat
I couldn't say one bad thing about this entire experience. Our guide, Ken, was charismatic and knowledgeable as can be. The tour was very informative and engaging and the grounds are extremely well maintained. Any fan of FLW would be remiss to not take this tour.
Christiane Arsenault
100% of what came out of our guide's mouth was interesting - which is rare for me. I liked the stories and why certain things has been designed the way the were. It was a treat to see the inside of the house, furniture and even pictures
andrew adams
The house was incredible but the tour was very rushed. My wife and I are huge fans and have visited several of Frank Lloyd Wright's houses. Every one of them leaves you feeling creatively refreshed.
We were frustrated with the tour in that we traveled all this way to see the house and when walking from room to room we were rushed on multiple occasions. When trying to take a photo of the one bathroom in the house the tour guide remarked "what, you've never seen a bathroom before?" Yes we've seen a bathroom, but I'm curious as to how Frank Lloyd would have designed his own bathroom.
Again, in walking through the main corridor of the home and admiring the stair case, the tour guide asked if we were lost or needed help finding our way to the next room.
That was very disappointing. Otherwise, the house was incredible. So thoughtful in every detail. The use of natural light and the lines in the building are unreal. Left feeling very creatively refreshed (and a bit frustrated).
Ezequiel “Zeke” Barragan
What a sight to see! Immaculate and the sorounding area with other FLW homes was spectacular. Take it in, a nice quiet stroll through tree lined streets.
kristin lanett
Highly recommend. As a novice on the history of FLW, I felt the tour was very educational. Got me interested to study more of his work.
Athol Cohen
We'll worth the visit. Such creative architecture.
Carmelo Giorgio Finocchiaro
From the architectural choices it is already possible to glimpse the future great architect !
Alexa Garcia
Gorgeous house and great staff! It was nice to walk around for a bit as well.
Akhtar Nasser
Amazing history lesson with the tour. Frank had no experience and was only a part time college student yet his boss have him 5k to build a house with only 2 conditions. It was great touring the house; huge house even by today's standards and seeing the designs and his intentions. Can't believe he continued to work to the ripe old age of 91!
Cindy Joan
Our docent Ron was full of information and was interesting. Highly recommend taking the tour as well as walking around the neighborhood. The shop has great gifts and all the staff were friendly and accomodating.
Laurel Hoog
We did the inside tour (reservations in advance) and was very pleased with the tour guide and her knowledge of the home, the neighborhood, the family, and the man himself. Gift shop was full of lovely, reasonably-priced items. I got a table runner which was one of Frank Lloyd Wright's window designs.
john pratscher
A must do while you're in the neighborhood.... Classic for sure
Beautiful and innovative homes
Kate McQueeney
It is an interesting house and like so much of FLW's work, ahead of it's time.
Antigone Twidt
Truly enjoyed my bike tour!
Kathi Rig
A must do when in Chicago area. Beautiful home fantastic tour.
KahWee Teng
Great tour of the interior. Very well remodeled.
Filippo Fabbri
Entering the house feels like entering the mind of the architect, the guided tour effectively shows the tourist how everything in the building was carefully studied for the optimal living space.
Morgan Concialdi
Lovely tour and great gift shop with lots of fun souvenirs.
Escobaria Gracilis
Very interesting tour and see the works if Frank Lloyd Wright.
Jay Guards
Amazing tour, wonderful must see experience
Mary McKnight
We toured right after the museum reopened during the pandemic. Health standards meant far fewer people on each tour, which meant a less crowded, and more personal experience. The tour guide is so informed and conversational.
It was a wonderful detour on our way back from Wyoming.
Paul Guerino
Gorgeous home. So exciting to see where Prairie style was born.
Beverly Weable
Book in advance for the busy summer season, and give yourself enough time to get out to Oak Park from the city! We look forward to seeing you!
Deebo Bricks
An almost religious experience. The site has been remarkably preserved and restored. Excellent tour by knowledgeable and passionate guides, and the self guided neighborhood tour is a lovely stroll through history.
Diane Kelly
We took the guided tour of the house and studio, which was very interesting and informative. We also took the self-guided tour of 10 houses in the area, which came with a recording for each house. Again, very interesting. Both were well worth the cost.
Alexander Johnston
A house and studio designed by one of the greatest and iconic American architects. The guided tour was very interesting and informative, and the tour guide was a delight to listen to. You will learn about the fascinating history behind the design/construction of the house, the period in which Wright and his family lived within its walls, and the meticulous process that went into restoring the building as close as possible to Wright's original vision. This location also has a great gift shop for all your Wright needs, and serves as a good starting point for walking/cycling to other Wright-designed buildings nearby.
andi d.
I'm an avid Frank Lloyd Wright fan! The Home & Studio was very early FLW. To actually walk in and see where Mr Wright lived and worked is amazing. My favorite space here has to be the Inglenook.
Anthony Gargiulo
Incredible architecture on the tree-lined streets of Oak Park.
George Killian
We did the bicycle tour. What a pleasure and our guide Daniel was great
Masumi Yoneyama
We took the combo tour of the studio home and a self guided audio tour of the neighborhood. The tour guide was excellent. Extremely knowledgeable and had some funny facts about the family and the house. We learned a lot and enjoyed it immensely. The walking tour was great too even though we had terrible weather. Would definitely recommend it!
Keith Wunsch
This tour does justice to the talent of Frank Lloyd Wright. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and went at a very comfortable pace through the home and studio.
The staff were extremely helpful and helped resolve a ticketing problem with a extremely helpful attitude.
Michael Lavery
Whether you're a fan of FLW or not, this is not too be missed! Great guided tours of the Home & Studio with optional tours of the surrounding neighborhood and Unity Temple. Plenty of local eateries and coffee houses as well.
Larry J. Hickernell, Sr.
A living history of America's premier architect.
Kevin Werner
A good way to start a day of exploring. The guide we had was friendly and knowledgeable. Exploring the restored home was educational. I am sure we missed out many of the details, but there is plenty to take in. Everyone from 11 to 45 enjoyed the house. I recommend buying the map and walking the neighborhood to see some of the other homes. Also, the Unity Temple is well worth the time and money.
Simon Champagne
The tour was fascinating. A glimpse in the life of a great architect. The gift shop is filled with great buys, from books to clothes to designed coasters and more. It's recommended to call ahead of the time for a guided tour because it might be fully booked if you just walk in.
Joanne Larose
Definitely worth visiting. The guided tour was fantastic. Very informative and you really get some great insights.
sandra hoeft
2nd visit in 6 months. Love it and the staff are amazing!!!!!
M Stewart
You have to tour this iconic home and museum when you are in the area. It is just the tip of the iceberg for local architecture. Ive been on the tour a few times. Its worth seeing it a few different times of year. At least summer and holiday time. Also love the bookstore/gift shop. A great place to buy gifts for local ir out of town friends.
Eelco van Wijk
Where FLW got his start. Great tour!
D Melpolder
Great tour of his house and Studio. Guide very knowledgeable about the history of both the house and his career. We felt a bit rushed to finish in a timely manner ..about an hour considering we did not start on time. We had to skip one room. Although the outside did not fit the typical FLW style the interior was everything I expected his style to be. It was interesting to see some some houses he designed in his neighborhood.
Rachel Lawmaster-Morris
Great home to visit to understand the early married years of FLW's life. This is unlike any other home he designed, yet you can still see "him" in it. Lots of great history and knowledgeable tour guides. On street free parking. Definitely see this house if you are in Oak Park.
Rosemarie Sexton
Great inside tour and very knowledgeable guide! Super friendly and the house was beautiful! The self guided walking tour was really interesting and the neighborhood was gorgeous!
Brandon Williams
The material was absolutely amazing, as was the building! But the tour guide seemed to be rushing us, didn’t a-lot times for questions, and made a few snark remarks. Overall great experience tho!
Spencer Nord
I really liked the home. The tour was very impressive as the guide was really knowledgeable. I knew a bit about Wright personally, but seeing his beginnings and the origin of so much of his genius was really fun. While the price may seem a little much, I believe that it is worth it.
A.T. FIERST
Outstanding restoration. The home and studio of a renown architect and icon of design.
Repeat Home and Studio visits are encouraged. Always, you’ll see more whilst gaining a deeper comprehension his developmental style.
It’s truly a fabulous place. The tour Interpreters are extensively trained; their depth of knowledge immense.
Teri Galvez
The tour guides are ready to answer many questions, are friendly and informative. It was a wonderful experience learning and being in the Frank Lloyd Wright House and Studio tour. I'd definitely come back :)
Danae Stuertz
Beautiful home and neighborhood. Inyeresting and Informative tour.
A McN
The Frank Lloyd Wright home and studio tour was fantastic with Irene, our guide, who was very informative. Be sure to include the walking tour of beautiful FLW homes in the immediate area.
Garret K
This is an awesome place if you like Frank Lloyd Wright. Or if you are a fan of architecture in general. The friendly docents gave lots of information on the home and Frank Lloyd Wright's background. It's very cool to see this living monument to the great architect. We did this as part of the Wright Plus Walking Tour.
Michael Gillaspie
I was able to visit the Home and Studio yesterday, and was able to get a tour. Our tour guide Bill did a fantastic job explaining the different elements of the space, while also adding history and stories about certain rooms as well. I would highly recommend taking a guided tour if the opportunity presents itself, especially if Bill is there to provide a tour.
There was only one negative to the whole experience; the ticket price was a little high for the tour, at $17, and it was an additional $5 if you wanted to take pictures of the interior of the home and studio, which would have been nice if it was included in the tour price.
Regardless of the cost, it was worth the experience, seeing the detail and first revelations of Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural beginnings.
Be sure to walk down Chicago Ave to see several of his other works, as well as up Forest Ave; a great treasure of wonderful homes that Oak Park is blessed with.
David Frank
This is a fascinating place to visit. The house is beautiful and a great place to see the develolment of Mr. Wright as an architect and person.
Allison Binkley
Absolutely amazing! This home has been wonderfully cared for by the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust. The docents and volunteers are clearly passionate about the man and his home. It was a wonderful hour long tour, and did not disappoint. They also have a wonderful collection of inspired items in the gift shop. Make sure you take time to wander the neighborhood on your visit as well. His other homes are remarkable, as are the rest of the historic homes in Oak Park.
Craeft Smith
Wow! What an amazing piece of architectural history. Unfortunately, we could not get a tour. Be warned! The tours fill up fast and early. It is best to book in advance for a morning tour. It can be fairly crowded, so small children will need help seeing everything, but take them if you can!
Heather M
Very interesting tour with very knowledgeable guides! Beautiful house!
Ron Lee
Outstanding tour! Our guide was absolutely brilliant and the experience was something I highly reccomend!
Jennifer Griffith
I hd to pay 5 dollars to take pictures but besides that this was a wonderful tour.
Brian Thornton
You must see this fascinating house and studio. Take guided tour otherwise you won't hear the quirky history of family life in this well preserved gem. Easy to get to by train and a short walk through leafy parks and streets. A real highlight for design buffs.
cfs Annie
Great tour but be prepared to stand on hard floors for over an hour! Worth going! Be prepared to spend several hours total and walk neighborhood after....and if u come by El, stop at Hemmingways house on way back to train....great walk with lots of shops and places to eat and relax!
Merlin D
If you are in Chicago, I would definitely recommend this tour. Especially if you are into architecture, interior, furniture design, planning.
The thought put to designing the house from the entrance to the lighting is wonderful. Lot of mordern concept for design is used in this building, when it was built in the 80s. How the house is grown as the requirements were added and adapted with existing is amazing. The simple use of geometrical shapes is very prominent in the house right from the exterior of the house.
Debora Pinzur
I've been to the FLW Home and Studio and it never fails to leave me awestruck. The innovative and artistic approach to architecture puts Wright in a field of his own. The edifice is outstanding and the docents are all professional and knowledgeable. Don't miss this tour when you're visiting the Chicago area.
K Gates
Worth the trip out to Oak Park. We booked our tickets in advance online for the Oak Park Combo tour.
The home and studio are simply amazing and our guide did an amazing job telling the story of Wright's life and his work. FLW is an artist and an innovator and his home and studio are just beautiful spaces.
After the guided tour of his home and studio we did the neighborhood audio tour. It was really cool to learn about some of his other works.
If you do the combo tour, I recommend doing your guided home and studio tour first because if you are late they will start without you and you will miss some things.
Do the neighborhood walking tour after seeing the home and studio.
Mrunmayi Davare
Must visit for anyone who wants to learn about design! Beautiful!
Jonathan Mullen
The tour was very interesting and made me think more about how spaces and design affect my daily life. The tour guide was knowledgeable and answered many questions. I went on a ridiculously cold day, so I didn't get to see as much of the outside as I wanted, but it was still a great experience.
Tim Tomlin
While the house is an early work and maybe not in a top ten of his designs there is much to see and the tour is very interesting. Some nice stained glass too.
Ryan Helton
Really fantastic tour. Pretty hilarious with some of the details, like a piano whose rear is punched through a wall and protrudes in the headway of a rear staircase and is held up by a lead strap. Why? It was taking too much space up in the room which housed it. Even if you're not super into architecture or history the tour is fun. And the gift shop has stuff you will actually like.
Tim Sable
Did the walking tour what a great way to find out the history of the area and the grand homes. If it's your first time do both home and walking tour ,guided or audio you can't go wrong. Since cov19 dampen our vacation plans do stuff in your back yard bonus no long tsa lines or delay flights.
Toni C
I love this museum located on one of the most spectacular streets in Oak Park, IL. No matter what you think about the man, Frank Lloyd Wright the architect was a master at creating unusual, spectacular, unique living spaces that feel majestic and totally comfortable tat the same time. Once a year, the foundation also puts up a great house walk, where private residences designed by FLW and other influential architects are open to the public.
Jennifer Sitze Martin
Awesome seeing the start of Wright’s career. He created so much of this neighborhood. It was a great afternoon. I also visited Unity Temple. The audio tour was quite nice and talked of his philosophy.
B. Korst
Very interesting tour, either if this is your first visit to a Frank Lloyd Wright home or not. The gift shop is very nice as well. Highly recommend the visit. The location is easy to access, and the neighbourhood is great as well for a walk around to see many homes designed by him as well.
Virginia Liao
Our tour guide, Mary, was great and informative. I had an amazing time here. I learned so much about this great architect and the reasoning behind his designs. It's just one tour of his first house that he designed. Walking tours of the other houses in the neighborhood comes separate. The tour lasted 1hr for $17 (adults). It's $14 if you bring your student ID. It will cost you $5 extra if you want to take pictures. Large bags will need to placed in their storage until the end of the tour.
Surya Jhajhria
must visit place if you love visiting nice architectural places. FLW home built during 1890's , but the designs are timeless. the tour is nice , about 1.5hrs to tour the house inside with one of the volunteers. they have other tours to go out in the neighborhood as well.
Quinn B
Fascinating look at where Frank Lloyd Wright got his start as an independent architect. It was very hot the day we toured so we mostly stayed inside, but I didn’t feel like we missed out on anything. Very well preserved with a very knowledgeable docent. Highly recommended.
Reginaldo De Franceschi
Beautiful place, a house worth of Lloyd Wright's legacy. The guides have deep knowledge of the place and offer and educational trip around the amazing house. Also, take some time to walk around the neighborhood, as many of the homes there boast the same impressive kind of architecture.
Finally, plan your trip to have dinner at Giordano's, a true Chicago culinary treasure, only a couple blocks down.
Mary Carrino
Enjoyed a lovely tour of this beautiful work of art!
Jonathan Wright
Frank lloyd is one of the greatest architects, and in his home and studio you get a sense for his vision. The tour guides are great, knowledgeable, and the surroundings are inspiring. Well worth a visit.
Linda Kilgallon
Loved the tour and the neighborhood. We go there a few times per year. Great place to walk around when the leaves start turning.
Jamie Barth
We live in Chicago, but hadn't before visited FLW's home and studio. It was a real treat to see the space.
Our guide was excellent. She led a smallish group (15 people or so) through this special space. The information offered brought great light to Wright's life and work, as well as giving it a very personal spin.
It was a delight to learn more about the origins of many of my favorite Wright designs. Learning more about life in general during that time brought great context as well.
I'd strongly recommend this space to any visitors to Chicago, as well as current and future residents.
Daniel Ryan
This was an excellent, informative and entertaining tour. Great value. Jim is an engaging and knowledgeable guide.
Paola Rosales
Visited the fascinating work of Frank Lloyd Wright and it’s definitely a great experience. Loved every detail and knowing more about the history of his phenomenal work. If you’re in the area. This is a must go too! You won’t be disappointed.
Michael Bristow
Tours are pricy, but can walk and see many of houses he designed in the neighborhood.
TheWaross
Really had a great time and a great visit of the house. Actually, I wish the tour was longer and I would pay more for that. I feel like the guide could have went even more in detail about Wright and his life. I also recommend walking around in the neighborhood which is beautiful.
Barry Bernstein
What’s wonderful place to tour through, learning the history of the man and his family.
Learning how they lived back then and how his family grew. Take the opportunity to see this magnificent home and original furniture.
It is quite an experience. If this was helpful please, “like.”
Rebecca Boyd
Very interesting tour. The neighborhood map is worth the money. The neighborhood tour is worth the time. Best deal is to purchase the yearly membership. If you visit all of the local sites it's pays for itself. Stay in Oak Park for the true experience.
Dahnika Short
Really enjoyed the FLW home and studio. The tour was well priced, and was fun and informative. The gift shop has some really neat products. It's in a nice neighborhood, and it was fun to do the walking tour to see other homes designed by FLW. Certainly a welcomed experience just outside of busy downtown Chicago.
Claire Saxton
Can’t miss tour for those interested in FLW.
David Garcia
I did the hour long tour, learned so much in so little time I got to take dozens of incredible pictures. Afterwards I walked around the neighborhood checking out the other homes Wright there in the area. Then I headed over to Unity Temple which was a short walk away. I would highly recommend.
Marina M
If you are into history and architecture, stop by here. This house is amazing considering it was built a long time ago.
Matt
Nicest looking Wendy's I've ever been to
Lorrie Jones
Great place! Very informative tour and a great connection to history. I really felt a connection to this interesting historical figure. The house was so very interesting and his studio was beautifully constructed. I would recommend a tour the next time you are in the area.
Brian Halma
Great experience. Interesting building, and the there are a number of his homes within easy walking distance.
Jaime Jamieson
This is an American treasure! We went on the FLW Plus tour, and were in awe for an entire day!! Thank goodness for people who recognize the value of their homes, renovating and restoring them to the grandeur FLW originally intended. A shout out to the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust and all of the work they do! The volunteers on the Plus tour were amazing, and the event was SO well organized - we walked and waited in lines, and enjoyed every single minute of it! I'm a fan and supporter for life!! You gotta go!
Amy Kuniyoshi
I took the guided tour of the house. The tour guide was informative and entertaining. I also took the self guided neighborhood tour.
Ann Dubin
We are locals - so it's awesome to have FLW's home and studio right here in our town. If you have never taken the tour, even if you live here, you should! The guides are great and you'll learn alot about our area. Frank Lloyd Wright was a man before his time. The studio is amazing to see. The gift shop is really fun too. Walking around the whole neighborhood is great too - especially in the summer when all of the flowers are in bloom. Just gorgeous.
Jonathan Biag
Very interesting historical home! Make sure to take the tour.. lots of interesting things inside that you wouldn't normally see.
Sarthak Banga
Wright! The name says it all.. what a design! Wonderful place to visit.. excellent maintenance!
Kelly Van Dyke
Loved seeing his architecture and learning more about his very interesting life.
Robin de Bled
A spectacular museum for architecture lovers and very enjoyable even for those with just a passing interest. The tour guides are very knowledgeable and the building is incredible. If you're visiting the area it's well worth visiting. Highly recommended.
Anne Sromek
Pretty home, with great history. The guides are really good at what they do, you really get a great glimpse into the past when you visit. I highly recommend reading a book about FLW or the Wright family before coming to maximize your understanding of the architecture and history. You'll see a floating piano, floating desks, awesome wood reliefs, grand fireplaces and murals.
dave
A fascinating place, the home and studio of, arguably, america's greatest architect and designer. the house is chock full of Frank Lloyd wright's 'trademark' designs and features. a great place for any fans of architecture, an informative tour,
while in the area take some time to explore the local neighbourhood where there are a many examples of Frank Lloyd Wright's work dotted about.
Tony Vezner
Excellently preserved architectural masterpiece. The volunteers who do the tours are knowledgeable and helpful. The place offers so much insight into the man and his sense of design.
Darwinsom
Fantastic! Terrible public transportation options so took a Lyft from Logan Square a trip in its own right. (But relatively cheap given public transportation would have to make an enormous boom a rang loop)
Well organized tours which won't tax your attention span lol. The house doubled as his home and presentation space, where he would "wow" clients. That area has a fascinating round room with contraptions for raising charts. You reach this via a space designed to draw your attention to the stain glass ceiling and this is the iconic piece associated with the house (I bought a small version that allows light to pass through about 10" & a fridge magnet)
So Maybe treats! From outside you wouldn't imagine but the rooms are small: fireplace snug, etc. The information from the tour guide is Essential to your enjoyment trust me. The explanations of the size and design intent of chairs is worth the price of admission.
Because they were raising children in the home there are several aspects which reflect his philosophy of education. Observe carefully the children's playroom replete with stage, a piano story to die for, cabinets displaying educational blocks, and the play of light. Ditto the semi-connecting bedrooms.
I was gobsmacked by too many things to keep describing. Do Not try to just look at the outside. Having said that though tour the street at the corner of the house. It's a short walk from which you will see examples of similar astonishing architecture. We walked down ending at an adorable little park with shade on a quiet spot from which we then called our Lyft back. I'm not a great walker so you can do this!
Please go. If you are in love with American Arts and Crafts movement it will be Nirvana.

If you are interested in understanding an architecture designer's mind you can do no better than to visit the Frank Lloyd Wright home in studio in Oak Park. He lived there for a large part of his life, and the lives of his children. The design of the residence and workspace reflect his design mind in intimate and contrasting ways.
Keith Taylor
I'm an architecture need, so this tour was amazing.
Jim Allen
It is simply amazing to actually walk through the spaces Wright designed and lived in. Seeing his innovation, his sense of showmanship in person is priceless for anyone who appreciates his work and his contribution to the idea of The Architect as a celebrity.
One surprise for me is how modestly sized the spaces are. He could adapt to making a small space seem magical, or making a large space seem intimate. Wealthy clients got larger spaces, more expensive materials and more daring engineering, but the same thoughtfulness was applied to all.
Chuck Sherman
We came to Oak Park after reading an article in the Washington Post about Frank Lloyd Wright. His home and studio explained a lot about the thought that went into his design, his history with the Sullivan firm, and his family. A lot to appreciate and vice versa. He seemed to having a charming way of controlling just about everything. Had I met him in person, I think we would have been rolling around on the floor in about a minute. Just like Mr. Kaufman. Didn't realize how her was a precursor to the art deco movement. He had a major influence on how we actually live our lives to this day. And I suspect he knew it.
Ibissa Azcona
Loved the tour very thorough and informative. Definitely worth going to Oak Park if you are in Chicago. There is also plenty to do in Oak Park so you can visit the other Frank Lloyd homes.
Gabriela Aragonez
Found the tour so enjoyable and interesting. Worth doing it if you are in Chicago
Roy Cormier
I had such a great time visiting the historic home of Mr. Wright. When the opportunity to visit the Chi-town area presented itself, I was sold on the idea knowing this place was near. The tour was guided by staff who knew the history and that could answer any questions that came up. Also, near by are other homes designed by FLW, so schedule time to walk around the area as well.
Adrienne Felice
I'm not fond of Wright or his sub-standard, leaky buildings. But despite his egocentricity the man somehow became famous. The tour, on the other hand, offered by the Chicago Architecture group was amazing with a great, knowledgeable and fun docent.
Abstract3030
If one has inclination to architecture and aesthetics, they would greatly enjoy this place. To me it was a better experience than, for example, the Skydeck in Sears (Willis) tower. This is the first house FLW designed and lived. His creativity amaze even today. I recommend highly this tour. And the store offers quite unique pieces that cannot be found elsewhere.
Edy Gies
This was a fun tour. I would pay the extra for at least one person you are with to take photos. His work was amazing and eye catching. You won't want to miss the piano suspended in the children's play area!
Antonio Iaffaldano
Great tour, beautiful house
Jessica Durán
If you love history, architecture and/or Frank Lloyd Wright you should visit this house. Little gift shop on site, street parking or you can get here using public transportation. Definitely on the "to visit" list if you are in Chicago, next spot the Oak Park neighborhood for more FLW.
Rob Sanders
A real treat to see this amazing place...our tour guide was knowledge, friendly, and fun....very well worth seeing if you are an architecture junkie!
Erick
The house tour was a great experience and a must-do for architectural enthusiasts wanting to know a little more about Frank Lloyd Wright. Everything was wonderfully preserved and the tour guide was witty and informative!
Mark Messiha
The tour was nice and informative. I'm not an expert on Frank Lloyd Wright but I learned a lot and came away with an appreciation for his work. I suggest walking down the street and checking out the other private residences designed by Wright. After the tour you should have a good enough eye for his work that you wouldn't need the guide.
Drew Ayling
Honestly the worst curated tour of all the FLW properities I've been to. The wife and I were paying attention to specific elements that the guide just didn't acknowledge that should have been highlighted. A contrast between the house and other properties would have been a great highlight.
CJ Jojo
A wonderful two hours spent looking inside the first house and studio of the famous architect. Several houses near by are also designed by Frank Lloyd Wright ( just down the block ) and can be viewed from the sidewalk. There are other great houses designed by other architects wakable from the museum as well.
David Ross
The whole area(Oak Park) is full of his homes.
Jessica Murphy
Very cool. Recommend going inside and checking it outside.
Kelli Bradshaw
I’ve done the home and studio tour twice and have enjoyed it each time! It is a unique historical landmark and the guides do a great job of sharing some of the points of FLW’s life and legacy.
Jerame Cramer
Loved the tour! Furnished home and studio, one of America's great architects. Walk the neighborhood as well to see other Victorian and prairie homes.
Thanassi Karageorgiou
Such a magical and haunting experience. I visited from NYC last year. I studied FLW in college and he is by far my favorite architect and a very influential force in my creative endeavors. Getting a tour through his home and studio was just the best!
Kathleen Schalk
Once again I volunteered at the annual Frank Lloyd Wright House walk, and once again it was a blast! Everyone from the attendees to the volunteers to the administration who plans and oversees this event is so lovely to be around and work with. I am going to do it again next year...for the 9th time!
Rick Sear
We took a guided interior tour and a self guided walking tour of the surrounding neighborhood, which has a number of Frank Lloyd Wright houses. The interior tour was a tad fast paced, but other than that I was very satisfied with the experience. I learned a lot, and Wright buildings are always such a beauty to behold.
Nick Bibbs
A great tour for people looking to see exactly what it means to live in a "prairie style" house. The architecture is fantastic, and the tour gives you a audio accompaniment to go along with the tour. A must-visit for people in the Oak Park area.
Leslie S
Although added onto and remodeled several times, this house is incredible. It is easy to see FLW's style develop as he adds on to the home. We visited Robie and the Studio. I don't think I would skip either one. They both had excellent guides, and it is important to see how FLW wanted to live versus how he designed for others. The murals in his home are remarkable for instance, and I don't see those in his other homes.
Brian Livingston
We really enjoyed our tour!
Doug Lewis
Fascinating trip back through time. I am inspired to learn more about this iconic American architect. His vision seems unique, and lovingly presented by a dedicated team of volunteers.
Jente De Wilde
We did the 3 hour tour with an excellent guide, and wide array of examples of the different styles mister Wright had during his 20 years in Oak Park. Definitely worth a visit when you are in Chicago.
Meichen Wang
My tour guide Alex is so great! Wright’s house and studio is amazing!!!
Julia Burke
I was hesitant at first to dedicate 6 hours to a bus tour of Frank Lloyd Wright sites around Chicago. However, it was a great decision to book this tour. The transportation logistics on it's own pay for the tour. You get to travel in a nice and comfortable bus from downtown to Oak Park and then to Robie House while hearing about Frank Lloyd Wright (FLW) and many other topics as you travel. You also get a nice break for lunch at a nice restaurant in Oak Park. In our case it was Windberies but I'm not sure if that changes from time to time.Bill, our guide, was a great story teller and really made the day just fly by. Starting at the Rookery he discussed the history of the building and FLW role in it's restoration. Then at Unity Church he discussed all aspects of design and renovation of the church. My favorite part was the walking tour between Unity Church and FLW home and studio. During the short walk we passed through several Wright homes in Oak Park. Finally, visited Robie House which is under renovations so I will definitely do this tour again or visit Robie once it's done to see it fully restored.
Gene C
Enjoyed the tour and the insight provided by our interpreter, Barbara.
Rachel Lead
This place was incredible (as was the guide). It was amazing to see the restoration and hear the stories of how the building had been turned from a home and studio, to flats and back to the home and studio. If you're able to get out to Oak Park this is a must see
John C Wang
Alex the tour guide was great, with passion.
Vanessa O'Kelly
The house itself was very interesting. If you are planning on taking an uber...beware. our driver took us through a very unsafe area in order to arrive to the area. I recommend taking the green line, It's a pretty short walk through a cute neighborhood.
rory ro
I went during a free event, and still the tours were amazing. I love the older folks giving the tours, they have so much more extra to say about the house. Informative, and gorgeous.
Kyle Johnson
The Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio is a historic house designed by renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Located at 951 Chicago Avenue in Oak Park, Illinois, the house has been restored by the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust to its appearance in 1909, the last year Frank Lloyd Wright lived there with his family. Frank Lloyd Wright purchased the property and built the home in 1889 with a $5,000 loan from his employer Louis Sullivan. He was 22 at the time, and recently married to Catherine Tobin. The Wrights raised six children in the home. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972 and declared a National Historic Landmark four years later. Cool place
Daniel Sitton
How can one rate and review Frank Lloyd Wright? Just about every building he touched turned to gold, so of course his home and museum is an essential for any architecture buff. If you haven't visited yet, it's time for the pilgrimage.
Erin Krajenke
This is a nice tour for any FLW fan. The home and studio is beautiful as is the city of Oak Park. I would highly suggest a walking tour of the area as well to view many FLW homes in addition to other fabulous architects of that time.
Henry Cossitt
We previously had gone to Falling Water before coming here and there was quite the difference between the two structures. Still, if you have an affinity for prarie school architecture, this is the place to go. Also, the neighborhood is amazing!
Ernest Kilgallon
Take the tour in Oak Park, spend the day, enjoy the beauty of Frank Lloyd's homes he built. You won't be disappointed.
Tom Wilschke
One of the many Frank Lloyd Wright gems, the studio gives architecture amateurs a sneak peek into the mind of a genius. The optional Oak Park walking tour is an enjoyable way to spend a lazy summer afternoon. Bring your camera and check out the other prairie style houses in the neighborhood.
B E S
The house and studio tour is expensive but worth it! The walking tour audio guide is NOT worth it though. About 10 houses and a blurb on each. You'd be better off googling info or going on a person-guided tour which costs the same.
Christopher Perry
Make sure to clarify photography policy. We were told before the tour began, that flash photography inside the house during the guided tour was permitted, by the Curator. Halfway through the tour, our tour guides husband (why he was there is anybody's guess) literally yelled at us about flash photography being prohibited. He proceeded to bird dog us, and give us the stink eye the rest of the tour. We attempted to ask the guide for clarification, but she let her husband speak for her.
Miles
Neat historical house! The tour was nice. Recommend visiting!
Reirui
Great to see the origin of prairie house style architecture. The staffs are super knowledgeable and the neighborhood is also a must see. Highly suggest neighborhood walking tour.
Karyl Cunningham
Very good tour!!! Our tour guide was quite knowledgeable, as well as passionate about the life of Frank Lloyd Wright! Great experience... even with all the rain and cold weather!
Charles Beasley
Nice guided tour and gift shop. You can walk the neighborhood and see example of Wright's architectural style. Also Hemingway's childhood home is about a block away.
Brienne Diebolt-Brown (YogaGuerrillas)
If you love Frank Lloyd Wright, beautiful homes, inspired architecture, this is phenomenal. I dragged my elementary-aged kids along, and they really enjoyed the nearby park as well.
Kristine El-Kouri
Great guided tour of the house with little know facts about the family.
Oumayma Begdouri
This house tour was the highlight of my Chicago trip. I’m fascinated by Frank Lloyd Wright architecture, and to discover the place where he and his family lived is surreal !
Special thanks to Michelle and Danielle.
Jess Mean
As a Southern California expat, I'm constantly amazed by Chicago's architecture especially the Prairie-style school of thought. We're so lucky to have this national treasure in our backyard (literally for Oak Park residents). The "museum" is very well organized and illustrates the genius of Frank Lloyd Wright.
Mike Snyder
Great way to see the genius of FLW. The whole neighborhood has architectural gems of his design hidden on every street. Great place to tour. Frank has a bike tour that is very informative and fun.
Michael Reales
The house is an Architectural landmark in the heart of Chicago. It showcase FLW philosophy and passion in the field of Architecture. Take a walk down memory lane at Oak Park and relive FLW greatest work in the History of Architecture. Great experience with the staff, they were nice, cheerful yet very helpful.
Kenny Lutz
Really enjoyed the tour. We took the longer tour that included the neighborhood. Our guide was really informative. If you have any interest in FLW, check it out.
Matt L.
Loved the tour and walking through the neighborhood to see all the houses that he designed or renovated was amazing.
Missy McKee
Very nice tour of the house and the studio with a lot of information from the tour guides
Joseph Sonntag
Architecture at its finest. Visiting the home of a renowned American architect is an amazing attraction for the greater Chicago area. A must see when visiting.
Scott D
Well worth a visit to see the home and workplace of the brilliant architect and designer. Well worth the price of the tour, the guides really know Wright's history and the story of the home.
Joel Washing
A really informative and interesting tour.
Steven Coy
Very interesting historical location. Was great to see the house, studio and the beautiful neighborhood of homes as well.
Yury Lag
Love Frank Lloyd Wright architecture. The museum is very interesting. In addition, there are several other buildings of Wright. A walking tour of the area is available as well.
AmirReza Oghbaee
Very nice tours. If you go on weekend be ready to spare 1 hour waiting time for your tour to start. Note that it is ONLY possible to see the place if you go with the guided tour and you can not see it yourself
Angela Tseng
If you're into 20th century architecture, this is a must stop if you're every in the Chicago area. It's a nice drive and plenty of parking in the surrounding streets. Bonus: There is a church designed by Mr. Wright just down the street! Ask about it from the docent and they'll share with you how to find it!
Nicholas Pike
This is an amazing experience. Pay extra for access to the studio balcony. The guides are dedicated to providing you insights into the works of Frank Lloyd Wright. There are many examples of revolutionary design.
Colin Dorman
We just did the neighborhood tour (as opposed to the home tour), but the the neighborhood automatic tour guide was pretty neat, and the map was easy to follow. It's a little silly that you have to pay extra to take pictures on the inside-the-home tour, but $.
Leo KL Tjon
Excellent architectural designs a welcome Atmosphere and Tranquility.
Mark Weinress
Not to be missed by F L Wright fans and architecture buffs. The neighborhood of Oak Park also contains numerous examples of beautifully restored private homes by Wright that can be viewed while strolling the charming neighborhood. The shopping area offers many unique restaurants and shops.
Parth Patel
Beautiful architecture. Oak Park has some great houses
Eddie Medrano
Amazing architectural gem in Chicago's very own backyard. The hour long tour is informative and at $18, not outrageously priced.
Alan Hester
Excellent tour. I would recommend it to everyone
Scott
As famous and respected as FLW is and was, his architecture is still underappreciated. If those of you who commented here enjoyed seeing the tour of his home and studio, you would also love see the site of the largest amount of his work at any one location. That happens to be in Lakeland, FL on the campus of Florida Southern College. The oldest private college or university in the state of Florida was designed by FLW. How do I know? Even though I'm from the north side of Chicago, I currently live an hour from Florida Southern College and I graduated from there in 1992. It's halfway between Orlando and Tampa so check it out, you'll really enjoy seeing all the buildings he designed. One of a kind Architect and it's a one of a kind campus.
SC Chiu
Excellent tours by well-trained volunteers!
Schuyler Bishop
Fantastic place, our guide was very well informed, and the tour was amazing! Loved the workshop.
bill brubaker
The house tour was good and our tour guide was very well versed on Mr. Wright. Self guided tour was okay, bit O think they could have had a bit more information on the program.
Nichole Fisher
Always fund something new to learn when visiting
Tylee Staggs
Absolutely incredible! Just amazing! Very educational! He was so talented and created Fantastic designs. Great tour and well worth the hour.
Ellie Asgari
Great to be able to see the house of Frank Lloyd Wright and some of his work nearby. The guide in the house gave good explanation about the different rooms and their special features.
Andie Wixom
It was ok. The tour guide wasn’t super engaging, but he wasn’t bad. We had more fun walking the neighborhood and seeing the homes.
Tara Spear
Such an interesting depiction of FLW’s growth in his career, and our tour guide, Peggy, was fantastic.
G V D
An experience you must have if you enjoy architecture. First hand opportunity to see the work of an extremely influential architect. Prairie style up close.
John Wilkie
This is a great and affordable tour right in the west Chicago Suburb of Oak Park. The guide takes you through the house and describes all the examples of Wright's Prairie Style while telling you about Wright and his family themselves since this was also his home. The house is well preserved and one of the several examples of Wright's architecture in Oak Park.
Wally Jordan
Extremely interesting view at the personal environment of the famed architect. Very much sort a visit, even if not a FLW fan.
John Saks
A good experience for FLW aficionados, as it details the origin and early evolution of the FLW style. Not your typical prairie style house. Many of the custom furnishings are present. Our tour leader Roger was excellent and taught us a lot.
Patrick Fennell
Really wonderful tour of an excentic, outside-the-box thinker. Though it is out of the way, both the tour inside the house and tour of the other Frank Lloyd Wright houses in the neighborhood were quite enjoyable.
David Wollmann
The trust has done a wonderful job restoring, preserving and presenting Wright's home and studio. The tour is a must. Be sure to walk the neighborhood and view the Wright designed homes.
Fezal Terzioglu
Of course the house was amazing, but the gift shop staff was extremely rude and there were vacuum cleaner etc was left around in the house! If you don’t respect the guests, at least respect the beautiful house and it’s name!!
cynthia haimerl
Gorgeous! Would definitely visit again! Our tour guide, Bill was very knowledgeable.
dave mausner
Interesting docent tours, if you're into the FLW experience. If you aren't, his studio and private quarters are claustrophobic. Oddly, his vision of exteriors was ahead of his time... of interiors, cramped, dark, and ugly.
Pamela Moore
Waiter was nice but too wsy to long for our salad and food. Salad skimpy sloppy looking bread sticks slow coming out. My mom love that place, but the service needs much improvement.
Sunil Johnson
I was waiting for so long to visit here. It was so worth the wait. What a wonderful resource and an absolutely spectacular environment. He was such a gift to architecture and home thought.
Kristian Kauker
Great tour of the home and studio.

Dana Davidson
Amazing Architecture very ornate!
Max Martin-Udry
Can't-miss stop with knowledgeable tour guides. A great window into the life and history of a great American artist.
Elaine Filus
Very interesting perspective on Wright's early design work. You get to see this early work and compare to later, fully realized Prairie School design just down the street. Docents are very knowledgeable.
Michael Ruane (MickRain)
Beautiful and absurd...built for children by a child
P BS (PBS)
The tour is worth it! Every detail. Includes original furniture, dishware, and artwork. There are rooms like the children's play room, the library, and the drafting area that will take your breath away.
Britt Coy
Such a wonderful tour! I learned so to things I never knew about FLW's life and career. And of course, the architecture is stunning!
Brian Best
Great guided tour, once you get started. A lot of architectural history in a small space. If you like FLW, this is the place to start.
Noor Abdelhamid
this was again part of our architecture student tour, and we loved Lloyd’s attention to detail in every architectural aspect from the entry to the guardrail. 😍 …

Tommy Samuels
Great tour at the home and studio. Loved walking the area and seeing other FLW homes

Great informative tour but the gift shop was a disappointment. No keychains!? But i enjoyed touring the architectural history and learning so much about FLW and his family.
Dan Hartman
if you are at all interested in frank lloyd wright, this is a must-see. there are tons of examples of his architecture in the immediate neighborhood too, so don't forget to check out the walking tour.

Cool spot to check out if you're in the area. went to get info about the LIyod houses in the area, friendly and helpful staff in the gift shop. Oh and check out the stinky tree in the courtyard!
Timothy Prinz
I went to Ray Vogue schools of interior design back in the seventies we studied much about Frank Lloyd Wright but I had the rare privilege of visiting it recently and what a treat to see where it all began
Chris Lanks
If u like Frank lloyd wright and are interested where he lived, then this place is the place. Definitely recommend if u want to take a walk in a house that is old as well.
Roque Salas
Such an amazing and creative architect of his time. We especially loved how he created his home and work studio.
Simpson Chung
Tour explains the origins of the architect well. You can see the ramping progression of his work and experience as you tour through his home from the beginning to the end.
Ruth Alegria
When in Chicago take the Blue Line CTA and discover Frank Llyod Wright's beginnings! Plus over a dozen Wright designed homes. Magnificent to see the birth of Prairie Architecture.
Carole de Monclin
I really like this place, where you can discover the work and the place Wright raised his kids. Full of imaginative ways to use furniture as part of his house. Very interesting.
Gregory Toomey
Really informative and enjoyable tour. The tour staff were well drilled and knowledgeable but the service staff at the counter were cold and dismissive - star off because of their attitude
Rodrigo Diz
Simply magical....it was an introduction to the initiation of a genius of architecture. A single and singular sole that was all about creativity and innovation. It made me want to know more of this man.
Serena Payne
Great tour i would recommend this tour to any one that loves architecture
Martin Meyer
Very cool to see how FLW modified his own home as he continued to experiment with styles. Fascinating features and great place to see. The library in particular was unique.
thomas ott
We had a very good docent. The property speaks for itself.
Bob Chiarito
The house and the studio are just beautiful. The guide explained everything very well, I learned a lot of new things.
I am very glad that I visited this place.
Martha Sepulveda
Chicago Architecture Foundation's tour was amazing. The best part was all our tour guides!
Petras Swissler
Worth checking out for fans. The tour is a bit short, and the house is a very early design of his, but it's still very interesting to see how he started
Holly Nicholas
Great detailed tour, Renee was very knowledgeable and approachable!
Judith Gaskell
Very much worth a visit. The inside of the house is fascinating and brilliant, and the talk is very interesting - an amazing house - and I'm not even particularly interested in FLW!
Zina Edwards
Very interesting historic neighborhood walking tour. Do yourself a favor and head about 3 blocks and visit the beautiful Unity Temple.
J DeChicchis
The docent guiding our small group tour was very good. The pace was slow enough to permit actual study of various details.
Epoch Inspections (Epoch)
We go for the Wright House Walk each year, a beautiful place with amazing people and stories, a real culture shot to the heart. Highly Recommended! A+

Jack John
Good tour and history lesson.
Shavar Babb
Loved this place. If you haven't had an appreciation for architecture I dare you to leave the Frank Lloyd Wright house without one!
Samantha Baldwin
I went here on a family vacation and it was amazing. If you can't go on the tour or are waiting on the next one get a map and walk to historic houses.
Anabel Pachano-Arismendi
Amazing house. He was a really great architect, the tour is very enlightening and has a lot of details to pay attention to. Recommended
Rob Lewis
I've been on the tour a couple of times now and really enjoy it. The neighborhood is beautiful and worth the trip out to Oak Park.
