Reviews of New England Maple Museum
Katy G
Inexpensive trip to syrup museum was educational and fun! Had boards/ buttons to press to teach about all the exhibits. Gift shop was reasonable for the type of merchandise being sold. Even got to taste test three types of local syrup! 100% recommend!
todd tofil
Nice little county store. Not expensive. Did not have time to see the museum. Staff was real friendly
Adri B
A fun way to kill some time and learn about the history of maple syrup production! A self-guided tour featuring actual historical equipment, diagrams, and audio/video recordings. At the end, you get a free syrup sampling. Plenty of great maple products in the gift shop, and the staff is very friendly.
Cherie Peters
Very interesting museum filled with locally donated items. $3 self guided tour included syrup tasting which really helped us with our purchase. The gift shop is filled with locally made products.
Kelly S
Beautiful shopping area, tons of VT-made higher end food and craft products to purchase. Their own maple syrup that says their name which is souvenir worthy. Extremely cool new owners preserving the museum part and willing to chat all things VT. Stayed open later for us. A wonderful VT experience!
Mike McGuire
This is an awesome stop. I knew I was going to buy Vermont items, but didn't leave until $100 later. Too many choices. Sue (host) and Rhonda (owner) were awesome. A definite stop!
Stefan Trotman
Was on a bit of a unplanned road trip through some areas of New England and I’m really glad I stopped here for my souvenir and gift shopping. I don’t remember her name but the lady at the store was extremely pleasant and even offered to tell me about some of the items and products in the area itself. I really appreciated the time she took to make sure that I felt knowledgeable and she was not in anyway urging me to buy anything I wasn’t interested in. Would absolutely recommend here for anyone traveling to Vermont, you won’t regret it.
Dominic Lo
Nice small shop with a museum and a short video how farmer collected and made maple syrup. And there are many kinds of maple syrup products can be bought. It was an enjoyable place to visit.
Suzanne Belcher
Great place. This is a must stop when your here. Alot of history in the Museum and so many wonderful products in the gift shop.
Kristen & Ahkrouty
My fiancé and I visited and we had a great time. Even accommodated me with my service dog to help me and bought a bunch of gifts oh so sweet!
Beautiful and the way they have it set up so you can see how it's all done. Such a great job!
Tim Stetson
Fun little museum entrance fee of only $3 for adults. Person behind the counter was very nice. So many great gifts and yummy treats to choose from!
Jen Way Lee
It's a fun exhibit to visit and know the discovery and making process of Maple syrup. Great products.
Josh P
I drove several miles out of the way to stop by here. They had every type of maple products that you could imagine from syrups to cookies to suckers, to cotton candy. The prices are very reasonable. Friendly service and they have many souvenirs.
Ahmad Abbasi
We visited around mid morning. We were greeted by a young lady who asked if we were intentionally visiting or just happened to pass by. We told her it was the second. She left us alone in the main hall and disappeared in an adjacent room. The place was empty of any other visitors. There was nothing in there that peaked our interest so we just left.
Meredith Stanfield (Merry)
The museum is a must do, so informative. The gift shop has an excellent variety of giftable items, so finding something for souvenirs is easy.
*****
Fun informative museum. Great little store with all the maple goodies you could want. Plan your visit around the tour buses as it gets mobbed!
Samantha Barber
Amazing cute little place to stop by for an interesting tour on maple syrup! Loved the gift shop, it had a lot to choose from.
Brenda Lee
We had the absolute BEST time touring the museum and learning about the maple industry from its introduction by Natives through modern day. The gift shoppe was FANTASTIC - I spent way too much money but the items were unique, tasty and something I can't get at home. I hope we will come back for a visit at a later date, it was so welcoming and so informative :)
Robert Woolley
Very friendly staff. Museum is fun especially if you are far from this area and know nothing about maple syrup. Kid friendly.
Diane W
While vacationing in Lake George, NY, we toured some of the beautiful State of Vermont and came across the New England Maple Museum. We did not tour the Museum but did shop in the lovely gift shop. I agree with other reviewers saying the shop has a wonderful variety of maple products and gifts to purchase. We bought maple sugar, maple rub, cookies, chocolates, candles, etc — as well as unique gifts to bring home. Sue, who works at the shop, answered our questions and also suggested other places to visit in Vermont. Our next trip will include touring the museum and of course, shopping!
Darlene Bellinger
Fun place to stop wether you go into museum or not, store is a good place to get your favorite grade of syrup ( not sure what grade you want just ask for free sample they will gladly give you one. Maple candy , lotions, shirts and all kind of gift items also available.
Friendly staff and there is a free video of how maple syrup is made . Have fun.
Linda Bryant
The name would indicate this is JUST a museum, but it oh-so-much-more. They have a gift shop where you can buy anything maple and other gifts, a sampling room, and great photo opportunities. A can't miss on your visit to Vermont.
Kathryn Peters
Great selection of maple products and small souvenirs. Some of my favorites are three maple hot sauce and dark robust maple syrup. It has a nice little museum about maple making over the years.
Charles W Basden
The staff are very friendly and there is a good selection of maple syrup products as well as souvenirs. The movie at the end of the museum was also good (although old) giving an overview of the maple syrup making process. The museum itself is quite a hodgepodge and amateurish. It doesn't cost a lot to enter ($3/person) so am not complaining too much. On the other hand, considering you can buy maple syrup and related products in many places, I'm not sure it was worth our drive to get to the museum.
Michael Gomez
If you need anything Maple Syrup candy, hot sauce or honey this store has it all!! We live in western NY and we will definitely make at least 3 trips a year to this store! Great prices and the employees are very helpful and knowledgeable!!
Cora Curtiss
I was able to find several Vermont Island Candles with scented herb smells-Lavender, Magnolia Peony, etc, along with other purchases of Maple Syrup, Jellies,Jams all at a reasonable price. I would go there again if I needed other things for my family.
Bethany Swain
Great place with an amazing selection of maple products. Informative & experienced staff with personal stories. Museum was a bit hokey & dated but had some really interesting & authentic equipment for sugaring throughout the years. Worth the visit!!
Terry Allen
It cost $3 for the tour. You walk through at your own pace. It is a nostalgic look at how maple syrup is collected and processed. Nothing fancy but informative and interesting. We enjoyed it. Also a nice gift shop. Very friendly service.
If you buy any maple candies I suggest that you check the expiration dates. A couple of the items we purchased had expired months earlier and a few items were bad. They don't have a long shelf life and our not cheap. I tried to let them know but they did not respond to my email.
Kristy Broughton
It was an interesting museum
lots of interesting gifts and maple syrup options. but only from one maple syrup company.
You can buy syrup and samplers up to gallons in.
Clarissa Iglehart
We were staying in Lake George, NY for vacation and decided to go for a drive to visit this museum. It was only $3 for each person to do the tour. The tour was nice and felt like the perfect length. It was definitely worth the 1 1/2 hour drive, we enjoyed ourself. Huge shout out to Susan, who was so welcoming and helped us out! Thank you Susan, you are awesome!
Tim Keezel
The museum could use a little more definition of the exhibits. Some were very well explained, others had little or no explanation. Admission is very inexpensive and the gift shop Carey's a nice selection of items for sale. The staff was helpful and friendly.
James Bartlett
This was my second time here. The owner was very nice. We went on a week day so it was quite and just us on the tour. Alot of good information and cool to see how the industry has evolved. Would love to have seen more current stuff to really show the evolution of maple syrup but hey its a museum... but really would have been cool to see photos or video on how the owners solar maple farm works? To be honest I should of asked the owner more questions about it. She seemed nice enough that she probably would have answered. Only real complaint is some of the audio boxs and interactive stuff was broken
Monica Bartler
Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. The museum is well worth it, the maple syrup candies are delicious, and make sure you do a sampling when you stop in. You won't be disappointed with your trip out here.
John Nemo
If you are in the area definitely stop by. Quick tour/friendly staff! Try the Bourbon Maple Syrup!!!!
Peter Train
Very cool little find! They have a self guided tour on the maple syrup making process for $3. The store carries a variety of food items, and the owners make their own maple syrup which they sell in the store. Only 1.5 hours from Lake George, NY
Ed Egee
What a great little stop! Unfortunately, we’re couldn’t taste the syrup because of COVID, but still an enjoyable visit!
Imelda Walsh
Fun spot to go to,little museum to walk around in,nice selection of syrups.
Denise Horn
This is a quaint and lovely place to visit. It tells the story of the development of the maple sugar industry. My absolute favorite part is the gift shop, with lots of syrup, candy, maple sugar candy, maple cream, maple fudge and more. Staff was both helpful and friendly.
Mark Watkins
We traveled through New England this fall and looked at the fall colors. I wanted to buy maple syrup and test the difference from several sources. The museum provided this exact thing. We purchased a jug of dark color robust taste maple syrup while at the museum. We both decided this is by far the best syrup of all. Ordered another gallon online and had it shipped to us here in New Mexico. You will love it!
Richard Wildhirt
Informative though quaint. Great family history from out tour guide.
Samila Sabovic
Such a cute place!!!! The museum was informative, interesting and adorable. The slightly rustic yet modern feel of the gift shop was amazing, and they had the perfect balance of locally crafted gifts and the classic touristy gifts!! Not to mention, the maple syrup was delicious!!!
Sarah Hochuli
Just stumbled upon this museum today. There was a lovely woman working there (maybe Jill? She works Mondays and Tuesdays) who was super informative and nice. The museum has quality Vermont crafts (no tacky souvenirs here) and a variety of syrup and other VT foods. Little museum and film were fine - worth the $3 Admission. They are redoing the movie so that will be an improvement. Great stop and Jill is awesome.
phillip J gintz
Very friendly and informative staff. The Maple syrup is better than any box store bought "real" maple syrup. I live in Pennsylvania and will continue to come here to get my Maple syrup of all grades. Amber is the best for breakfast though.
Sharon Rumley
Really enjoyed the history of the maple industry in VT.
ted larsen
Great place, lots of snacks to try, museum is a must do. Been just like this for the last 20 years. Real Vermont.
mlay tech
Best place to learn about how people here make the legendary maple syrup.
T. Carter Ross
Nice collection of sugaring equipment and memorabilia, along with a big gift shop. Well worth the stop.
Lynn Chavdarov Segrist
Very informative film and do it yourself tour of the museum. The person on duty was delightful, and we were able to sample some of the maple syrups.
Megan Chartier
Nice little museum which shows the history of maple sugaring. Admission cost minimal for adults and kids are free. Store has good selection of products
James Perry
The new owners are great, and very personable. The new layout is spacious and easily navigable. There's plenty of parking and several photo opportunity areas on the grounds. They do take bus tours, so it can get busy, but it's worth a trip for the maple Lovers.
EB Savage
Very dated exhibits, but full of old New England charm. Completely worth it for the nothingburger $2 admission. They have a lovely gift shop with a variety of items including a wide selection of maple syrups and maple products.
Joseph Rineer
Stopped in here to get some maple syrup and souvenirs on our family vacation. The staff was very friendly. They had a very large selection of gifts and syrup based goodies. Only negative thing I have to say is that the prices were a little higher than some of the other places we stopped at on our trip.
Tim Mol
Qauint little museum and gift shop in the heart of Vermont. A must stop for picking up your maple syrup supply.
Angela Blake
Great self guided tour about maple syrup and how it's made. Not too long but not too short either. Friendly and helpful staff! Lots of trinkets, souvenirs and delicious products; maple syrup, jams, jellies, mustards, honey, etc! Love the tasting room so you can be sure to bring home exactly what you like! And don't forget a maple creemee for the road! Yum!
An Iz
Tasting infused maple syrup for the 1st time was yummy! :)
Larry Cochran
The shop has very nice maple and other products. I enjoyed the museum, although it was small and hokey.
Sarah Kuhn
Museum was kitschy in a cute way, but felt a little cluttered and disorganized. Loved the gift shop- lots of options, most of what you expected and some fun surprises. Great employees
Ron O'Keefe
Great store with all your maple 🍁 syrup needs. And plenty of samples. And a great museum everything you need to know about maple and how maple syrup is made. …
helena fussing
A little hidden gem you must visit if you are a fan of maple syrup 🍁 🍯 …
J.D. Keith
It's an awesome stop on the Maple Trail, with interesting historical artifacts, museum, and a theatre presenting a documentary on Sugaring. There are also many fine arts, crafts, and Maple derived products - but of them ALL? YOU MUST TRY THE MAPLE SHORTBREAD COOKIES!!! Wish those were available for mail-order!!
Bart Hill
Very informative. The history of maple syrup was facinating. Don't miss the tasting area. I liked the darker maple syrups and the maple horsraddish mustard. They also have a smoked maple for cooking. Can't wait to try it on pork chops.
Phoenix Garrow
I liked it. Wished they guided you in the museum and the maple stuff wasn't as old. But still a great place and amazing staff.
Ty Paulding
A really informative tour with more packed into it than you would believe at a really affordable price. The shop is packed with locally sourced gifts and treats, it's absolutely worth the visit!
Cathy Barger
The museum was fascinating. I never knew how maple sugar got its start. The gift shop was wonderful, as well. I was highly tempted to buy everything maple in sight!
Connie Warner-Slayton
Friendly staff, unique VT made items ranging from everything maple to jewelry, handmade candles on dough bowls I could go on and on but he only way to see everything is to stop on yourself
Darius Pringle
Funny little spot on route 7. Been into JR'S and this place since 1991. Always consistent , with some interesting food item to take home as a gift. The spices you will not find elsewhere, so give them a try. Museum is worth the tour.

Nice museum with information about the history and production of maple syrup. Afterwards, a large selection of different maple syrups (our favourite: with cinnamon flavor), dips, jams, etc. can be tasted. Delicious! In the shop there are great souvenirs and gifts, all sorts of maple syrup, clothing, and much more. Really worth a visit!
