Amazing museum of fire fighting history! Equipment from all generations of fire fighting! Knowledgeable staff on site
Phanha Tranluong
Visited here with my brother and it was very informative. While it is pretty small and the exhibits weren't the most extravagant, for those who care about fires and fire departments should go. Admission is free so always worth a quick peek.

It is such a great place to visit. They have a few older trucks along with the newer one and somebody is always there to answer your questions and to give a small tour. They also have a party room upstairs and it's easily noticeable from traffic and is situated close to a few parking spots!
Alicia Demoranville
The men who work here are very nice. They are very knowledgeable of the history of the firehouse and fire engines and we're happy to show us around. They have a sweet dalmation that the kids love! The only downfall to the place is that it is a bit cramped, but it's just because there are apparatuses parked in there. One is an antique firetruck that the kids can sit on and pretend to drive.

Sweet little place. They do birthday parties. Good for one hour of fun with young kids

Great little stop while walking around. Our one year old loved it and enjoyed getting to sit up on the old fire truck

Great little Museum we stopped into after visiting the Boston Children's Museum. Lot's of history in this beautiful building that has served the City well. Can become quite busy at times. They host Birthday Parties upstairs in the old Crew Quarters.
The folks that were manning the Station were Very nice and will give a little history lesson if you ask them. They have a spot where you can donate to help keep the Museum free to the Public. They also sell Shirts, Hats, Patches and more. They also are selling "Preston Strong" Shirts to help support Lt. Glenn Preston who is battling Cancer he got while on the Job.
If you are looking for something to do while visiting the City and Children's Museum, please stop in as it's just a short walk down Congress Street.
Thank you for showing my Wife & Daughters a great time and for giving this Ex-Vermont Firefighter a great history lesson. May God Bless you all.

The fire fighters are very welcoming and made the children feel like real fire fighters. A museum that allows you to touch the thing you are looking at.. doesn't get better than that.

My grandkids had a grandtime at this little museum. We did not plan to go that day but our other plans were cancelled and we happened to wander by the museum. How fortunate that we did because it was the experience of a lifetime for my grandson who is fascinated by fire fighters and fire fighting.
It is a small museum but it is packed with terrific artificts that the kids can touch and explore. That is so important for children I think. My grandkids (there were three around that day) loved climbing on the trucks and looking at all the stuff. There was even a nice dalmation dog there that day that my granddaughter particularly loved.
The best part is that there was something for everyone. There was history for me and my son and educational experiences for the kids. We all learned alot from the terrific volunteers. They managed to make it exciting but not overwhelming. One very nice gentleman whose name might have been Dale or Doug but I cannot remember was especially good with telling stories to kids. He must have kids or grandkids of his own because he was able to engage my grandsons who wanted to hear all about adventures and fire and also keep it safe for my granddaughter who is terrified of fire. My son was afraid that his daughter would come away with nightmares but could not stop talking about the dog and the hoses and the hats. She even said they were heros.
Another firefighter was kind enough to tell my son and I all about the history of Boston firefighting. It was very interesting and engaging to hear about how the force has adapeted to changes in architectural styles and culture. I think that my wife would have really loved that part. All the volunteers were terrific and seemed really happy to be there. You can tell a lot about a business or organization by the happiness and dedication of their employees or in this case volunteers. Those gentlemen seemed to care alot about their organization and their cause and that's number one on my book!
We made a donation but the museum is free. We were happy to help keep it going and to donate to the cause of helping sick firefighters. They have birthday parties for children there too which sounds like terrific fun. I highly recommend this place for kids and adults as well. I never knew it was there but I am happy that I do now.

It is a nice little museum that can be very exciting for kids and parents alike. It is also a nice place for a birthday party. Parking can be tricky as for most places downtown. It is a nice place to visit that won't take you all day.
Heather Lockrow
Open on Saturdays for FREE! Great spot to take the little ones (especially if it's raining!) They can climb up in an antique fire engine and ring the bell, and there's also a firehouse dalmatian to greet the kiddos and for the kiddos to pet :)
Chris Cairns (Medman)
You just have to love a fire station museum. You can feel the bravery of the men and women who worked here saving life's and putting out fires. Not open every day but a must see in Boston. And I bought the t-shirt. Thanks to the ex fire fighter volunteers who look after this place and are happy to talk about the exhibits.
Maria “Entu” M
Free museum with a small but pretty cool exhibition. The man who works here is awesome! I highly recommend stopping by and getting a t-shirt. The sell those for a noble cause: to support a fireman who battles cancer at the time.
Jennifer Foran
Very knowledgable and friendly people who want to share information about the Boston Fire Museum, totally centered around kids. Held a birthday party here and everything was easy (from setting it up, through the party, and wrapping up the party). The upstairs room is very spacious and they are flexible the possibilities for your party.

Great place with enthusiastic volunteers telling nice stories!
Fran Henslee
A really fun museum. It's only open on Fridays and Saturdays. Admission is free but there's no air conditioning. It is small but has a lot of cool artifacts.
Janet Cairns
Really nice museum with 2 fire engines, one of which you can sit on, lots of old firemens helmets, the possibly unique to Boston, fire alarms, which can be viewed internally, and other artifacts pertaining to the Service. Staffed by retired firemen who are very happy to to answer questions.
Dan Panea
Small but historic fire museum, located in the old industrial town. Good to take your older kids to learn about Boston history. They have few old carriages in display.
Carol Carveth
It's a small museum (about 40 ft by 20 ft, maybe), but they squeeze a lot into it. When we first walked in I wasn't expecting much, because it was so small and the biggest things in there are some old firetrucks and yes: things advanced from horses to motor vehicles, we all get it. But if you ask for one of the people running it to give you a tour and/or read all of the signs, there's a Lot to learn from their displays. I didn't know fire fighting grenades existed, or the origin of why hydrants are called "plugs". Some of the stories about some of the different ways fire was fought, from prior to 1792 to the present and various problems with the older systems were really cool to learn about. Definitely go if you have time on a Saturday (which is the only day they're open, at least according to the current website).

Definitely to be marked on touristic maps. A jewel museum to visit and learn city's history of tragedies and heroes. Little ones receive a complimentary Firefighters hat and Museum staff is very helpful, providing information in a nutshell.
Jenny Andre-Jean
I never knew this place existed until I went to my son's classmate birthday party. It's a pretty small and cozy place. The staffs seemed pretty nice. I definitely recommend it.

Great place to visit with or wy kids:)
Alaina Piskor
Small but lots of historic items and fun for little ones. Sparky the dog and getting to sit in old fire truck were highlights. Plus it's free!
Rosa Grenha
Most kids seemed to have a lot of fun. Others didn't seem as interested. It has a good space for a birthday party but there isn't much to do.
Josh Howe
Didn't even know that this existed! Went for a childs birthday party ( they rent out the upstairs ). Really cool historical pieces! Worth a check if you are walking through the area!

It's free to explore. There are nice volunteers on hand who enjoy explaining the exhibits. There was even a pumper built by Paul Revere!
