Reviews of Children’s Museum of Idaho
Great place for children 1-7 maybe 8. They have many sectioned play areas with relevant toys and books including a small outside area. For my current two year old, the membership is well worth it since they open an hour early on weekdays for members only. We come almost weekly if not more often since my daughter loves it!
There are some very small stairs cases inside paired with accessible ramps. But the stairs do not have small child size stair handles, only adult size. Each area is small but really fun. I would love to see an expansion to the water section outside like we had in Denver. But we are excited to keep coming!
Our little man loved it. We have been to a ton of children's museums and while this one isn't the best, it's still really good especially for the price. We got a membership and it'll pay for itself in just area visits. I wish the hours were a little better but that's about it. Normal stuff like a doctor's office, grocery store, a vet, and then some unique stuff like a HUGE train table and a pirate ship.
This place has been my weekly go-to with my littles. Tons of great learning stations/areas. I love how I can explore the museum really through the eyes of my toddler. And now that I have a new walker it’s even better! Everything is kept clean and the staff always has smiling faces.
I’d also like to add thank you for adding a special sensory hour. It means a lot for a mama with a son with special need challenges. ❤️
Went on a very busy day, so crowd is expected. We got there right at opening time.
The good: lots and lots of activities for kids, very eduction and hands on oriented. They have an outdoor area as well and you could entertain the kids for hours for a really low price of 10$
The not so impressive: The line to get the ticket was 20 people deep and the lady at the entrance was glacially slow. I don't know when was the last time they cleaned the play areas, there were leftover candy pieces and food crumbs (although it says no food and drinks in the museum). I am certain the place gets dirty through the day but this was right at opening time.
Overall, If the place can be cleaned more regularly and they manage the lines, a fun and exciting place
Such a fun place to take our kids! Every time we go they never want to leave. It's big enough to have plenty of variety, yet not too big that you can't keep track of your kids or feel like you don't have time to do everything. We'll be back!
My 1 year old loves this place! ❤️ Everyone is so nice and there are just so many things to see/do. My only complaint is that something it's so crowded because littles have 3 and 4 adults with them. Can't wait to go back!
What a wonderful place to allow children to play, explore, and learn in a fun environment! We have been several times and my little one just turned two. She loves it so much and will be able to play there for several years to come. If you plan on going more than once, the punchcards and memberships are definitely worth the investment!
My son had his first birthday party at the museum. The staff were kind and helpful. He had such a great time, and at the end the staff let him choose a birthday gift.
My best girlfriend and I took our 4 kids ranging in age from 1yr to 13 yrs old. My daughter is developmentally disabled and there was enough to keep even her entertained for hours. This was the first time any of us had been and we all LOVED it!!!
Lots of fun stuff to do here! Was impressed by the variety of activities. There are special events from time to time that are really cool. We enjoyed ourselves
We loved the Children's Museum! Clean, friendly and has a great membership deal! Story time daily and zones change once in awhile to keep things fresh.
A great place for indoor play. You could easily spend the whole day there and they let you go and come back with a stamp so you can leave to get lunch or whatnot.
What an Amazing place, we enjoyed the Children's Museum immensely! Unfortunately I’m not giving a 5 Star review because of the older woman (short curly hair)at the front desk. She certainly seemed to be bothered checking us in as that took away from her “scheduling.” Our little one was so excited to be there, so he was being loud & joyful all while trying to be patient to wait his turn to go in. She rolled her eyes at him 3 times & almost lost it when he attempted to run inside before our transaction was complete. As the face of the program (the front desk staff) should be warm & welcoming, especially working with an inclusive group of children. Again, the Children’s Museum is Awesome, they just need to invest in a kind front desk host!
Really awesome play place for toddlers/kids but... Quite a bit overpriced. Charging for parents is not right. And when you charge for parents, at least don't ask them to clean up the mess too. The amount of activities they keep adding are really great and make the price seem somewhat reasonable if you can spend at least a few hours here.
Spent two hours here with my grandson Isaac. The different displays were so much fun.
My 2-year old had a blast! I've been to a few children's museums in a couple of different states. Some are geared more towards older kids but this one is for kids of all ages. The exhibits are great, the facility is clean, staff is friendly and they have an outdoor exhibit. We paid $9/person ( including my daughter). I highly recommend.
We have been 3+ times. The first few were fine but today was a zoo. I definitely thinking having a max capacity limit would be beneficial. We didn't even get to play with anything hardly it was so crowded. I also find it frustrating they charge for parents to watch their kids. This is a children’s museum. I saw a reply of them saying the zoo and other museums charge for adults also, but the difference is this is geared for kids only. Most parents are sitting watching their kids play and are being charged to do that. I definitely don't take my daughter as much because of that fact. I bet they make a lot charging per person and I have never left somewhere to come back later that day so the “all day” pass doesn't mean much. We go to a lot of trampoline parks or The Sensory place where you aren't paying for adults. That’s really my only dislike and the overcrowding. Big kids can trample littles so do keep an eye out. Its worth going every 3+ months or so. Not often though due to paying for every adult. 10.00 per each person
Such a fun place! Plus, one time we went on Veteran's Day and they were offering free entrance to former and active military families, so our friends got in for free.
My kids love the train area, the pizza area, Trader Joe's of course, and the stuff outside like the water table in summer, the cabin and the workshop. It's all fun, though!
If you are a family with kids and you haven't visited this place, you're missing out! We make sure to explore and play here on the regular. Learning more each time we go. They had the best Halloween Monster Mash Party. The staff was amazing and really like the ownership.
Buy the membership, it is so worth it!! We go here weekly & our son never gets tired of playing here. It's best for kids ages 1-5. There are so many different areas and activities. We love the outdoor area in the summer! They do not allow snacks or drinks inside & there are not many seating options for parents. However I've never had much time to sit with my little guy running around!
This place is great where kids of all ages can participate. They also have a special toddler section for children 3 and under so you don't have to worry about bigger kids accidentally getting too excited and bumping into your child (or stepping on their hands). I came here once on a whim and now regularly go with my little girl.
We came here with our 3 year old and 8 month old and it wasn't busy at all! We had lots of fun and played at every station. There was hand sanitizer at every spot and containers were set out if toys were put in your childs mouth to be sanitized. We had a great time. definitely coming again. The employees were great too!
I have visited the Children's Museum of Idaho numerous times with my grandchildren. We always have a great time and make happy memories when we visit. There is such a variety of activities to enjoy.
The dedicated staff is friendly, helpful, and eager to please.
Love coming here my kids always have fun here
We got to visit the museum today for the first opening week. My little loved it, spent 1.5 hours and could have spent double that. Dentist, vet, constructon, exercise, garden, reading, bank, cave, toddler, train, space ship, trader Joe's, plane, pizza, and a pirate ship areas. Some exhibits were more engaging than others for my two year old. The cave and space ship had very little to interact with but the other areas were awesome. He loved shopping and making pizza and digging in the "dirt". I hope in the future they have an area with climbing like a tree house or more crawling like in the cave but longer. Stool in the bathroom for littles to use the sink. We will definitely be back
I came today for the first time with my grandson who is 4 years old. Not only he, but I was in awe too! I can honestly say this place is best kept secret in Idaho! I can't believe I didn't know about it even I am always searching for some new places for my grandson! I am not going to spoil your visit, you have to see it to believe it, I can honestly say WELL DONE AND THANK YOU!
Wow, what a great place to take the kids! Extremely interactive with a very local feel. Each area and theme is sponsored by one or more Treasure Valley businesses. Displays are always changing too. This is definitely a place I would recommend getting a season pass! You won’t regret it!
My kids had an amazing time ❤️ they all really loved all the different things and I think they learned a lot ❤️
The children’s museum is amazing! So many things to do, and so many activities to keep your kids busy. Don’t be fooled by the unassuming exterior, or the fact that it is located in the parking lot of a strip mall, this is a must do if you have kids, and if you’re local, the annual pass is a great deal. If you have an annual pass, definitely take advantage of the members hours, you basically get the whole place to yourself.
I came here with my almost 19 month old son for a touch-the-truck event, and decided to go through the museum too. I was blown away. Such a wonderful place for kids! We will be back!
Great for small children. Lots of hands on activities. Our Grandkids loved it.
Very cute and interactive museum. My 3 year old did not get bored and was upset we were leaving. Storytime was lovely. Staff were incredibly helpful. It can get crowded with kids so make sure you have eyes on yours. Definitely had to remind my kid to be mindful, aware and patient. She got shoved a few times but when there is so much to see and do, I get it. Price was great. Loved the STEM toy options and they were very comparable to getting them online. We may just do a return trip before we go back home so she can do some of the other activities she missed out on.
The Children's Museum of Idaho is a great place for kids to learn about all different aspects of life, from food service and shopping to banking, veterinary science, farming and agriculture. It's a great place for kids to let their imaginations run away with them. Lots of creative things to do and play with are scattered all around the museum. They offer single or family memberships too which is awesome. We use ours almost weekly.
So much fun! I took my nephews and they had a blast!!
Great place. Alot of cool things for the kids! But the step going into the music shed outside is bare metal. Being as hot as it is lately, keep watch on your kiddos. Was so hot on the step you could cook a egg. Burnt the back of my daughter's legs. Luckily I got her up before she got blistered. Very close. Still got a good burn line from the edge. Not bashing the place at all! But I think installing a wood step in place of the sheet metal would be a great idea. And maybe some misters on the railings. Thank you guys for the great time. Another great idea for a covering would be some non skid strips. Keeps the heat down and non slip ;)
Fabulous place for the kids. We took our 4 YR old Great-Grandson and he had a blast. Clean place with hand sanitizer throughout the building. Educational and creative.
Great spot to occupy the kiddo for a few hours. Great play station selections from dress up to toys.
We ended up getting a membership here and come almost once a week. Our son (3.5) loves it. There is lots to do and see. They change things up a bit so there are new things. It was a great place to host the 3 year birthday party also.
As a Grandfather of a 20 mo boy who is very active. I was so impressed with all the children's museum had to offer. Every room had a learning activity for him to accomplish.
We have an annual member and my younger kids always enjoy visiting the children's museum. There are a lot of activities for the kids and the staff is courteous.
Although there are some facts listed and a few small history exhibts, I wouldn't really say it is a museum. However, it is definitely a great place to take a toddler for hands on activities & play.
Excellent place to take your kids any day of the week. Very interactive and all kid friendly. The place was clean and very friendly staff.
My kids love this place! It’s always very clean and we love coming.
Lots of fun for the kiddos! Awesome train set up!! Every activity was amazing! Very clean too!
Attended a fundraiser tonight. Great time supporting a great place. I would recommend bringing your children here for a fun adventure.
We love this little museum so much to do really good price and lots to learn story time was fun and my little one loved he arts and crafts
Took my 13 month old son to the early STEM program and then spent almost an hour exploring the rest of the museum. He loved it. Really great variety and I love that it is indoor and outdoor. It was pretty busy on a Tuesday but definitely worth getting a membership there.
Love the children's museum! My kids love the trains, grocery store, pizza and outdoor areas the best, but they always find something new to love every time we go.
Staff are always friendly and kind, and storytime and toddler time are always a highlight for my kids. Thanks for creating a fun place to take my kids!
I took my niece here recently. She is four years old and absolutely loved it! There were so many different play areas. She loved the grocery store! It was very clean and the staff was wiping down the surfaces and picking up toys while we were there. They also had real baby chicks hatching and we got to watch them hatch in the incubator! So much fun!
This is an amazing place to bring young kids. Lots of different activities and things to keep the kids busy for a long time. Highly recommend checking it out.
Great experience and just perfect for toddlers and school age kids and families
Great experience for all ages, thanks for all your hard work!
Great place for the littles to roam around
We are here from Alaska to visit with our 5 year old granddaughter. Looked up things to do in Boise for children. This was in the top 10 things, well it was fantastic, she had an amazing time. We where there for a good solid 3 hours with a friend she made right away. Time just flew and didn’t realize just how long we were there. (Best day ever) from my girl 😊
Fantastic place for the whole family. We were worried our 11 year old would be too "old" but even he had a blast.
Cute place for smaller kids. I would say 5 and under. My 6 year old still had fun but she was quickly done with playing 😊.
I love all the little areas where they can go and enjoy, pretend and play using their imagination.
We had the BEST time! We took the grands for the first time. It's clean, organized, stimulating and sparks the imagination! We can't wait to ho back
One of the best places in the area to take your family. So much to learn and do. The staff is incredibly kind and have great people/children skills! We have a pass and use it at least twice a week!
This is really a great place to bring the kiddos to do role play and have education as well. I love bringing my granddaughter there. We imagine we are pirates, farmers , miners, astronauts, performers on a stage. There are costumes for them to wear. They have story time on some days at 2:00 pm. With a project that goes along with story. It is a very enriching experience. Take your kids. The price is launder $10 a person I usually try to stay a few hours so that we get our money's worth.
Great place if you have younger kids. My 7 year old said she felt that it was more for little kids. Would like to see some additional areas geared for kids older than 7 but I know that space is limited.
If you're thinking of buying a membership here...do it! We've had one for two years, and it's never the same place twice. They do such a good job at adding new play activities and their calendar is always packed with fun events, especially during spring and summer breaks.
Excellent place to take your kids while the weather is hot! Lots to do and special visitors and events as well. We have a membership and it gets paid off after a few visits. Looking forward to having an indoor place to take my toddler when it is too cold to play outside later this year
Lots of activities for the kids, basically had to carry the kids out when it was time to leave. They had a blast. If I had one problem it would be that some displays were not functional and appeared to have been that way for a while. Having to tell the kids "Sorry that one is not working" is not great. Luckily there are tons of other things to move their attention too.
We came from out of town. This is one of the best children's museums I've taken my kids to! They played for hours!! So much to play with, able to use their imaginations, definitely worth a stop!
After it was actually open it is very impressive. Can occupy kids for half a day. They liked all the interactive stuff particularly shopping and playing like they were making pizza. Not bothered by the requirement to put things back how they found it.
EDITED!
Jan reached out to me immediately with exceptional customer service. The museum DID in fact extend memberships! Somehow that email must have ended up in my spam box. We had a whirlwind year as DID most folks in 2020 and in the chaos of surviving cancer and having an unexpected baby while the world combatted a pandemic we missed the emails that went out. We WILL be coming back to the museum and I would like to let everyone know that we received stellar customer service.
Pros:
Fun place for kids ages 1-8? Lots of fun things to explore and things to see. Easy to get to. Our daughter always had fun!
Our issue:
We purchased a membership in late August of 2019. When the Pandemic hit of course we couldn't go. We were given zero compensation or incentive in any way shape or form to make up for the fact that that we paid for a year membership and only able to use it 7 months out of the 12 we paid for. It was a bummer.
We love this place and will be going here every week!
I am a mom of three young ones and this place is a God send for me. It is very similar to a place I used to frequent called Pretend City, but even better I think. We have been there four times so far and I only discovered this place two weeks ago.
They DO require mask wearing for anyone over the age of 2. And have a TON of hand sanitizer stations all over the place. It has always been very clean, organized and peaceful when I have been there. Even with other families present it never feels too crazy because of the way all of the zones are partitioned.
My 4 year old daughter's favorite parts are the Trader Joe's grocery store that has everything kid-sized, the make your own pizza parlor (felt pizzas), the veterinarian office, and the large wooden dollhouse.
My 2 year old son loves the huge train track, the outdoor barn area with fake horses they can ride, the rocket ship with astronaut jumpsuits, and the cave with fake bugs in picture boxes.
My crawling baby loves what I have termed "the baby living room". It is open for anyone to play in but seems to be the perfect set up for little babies. I tend to meet lots of other moms with babies when I sit in there, so I must not be the only one to feel that way.
We have been four times now and my kids still have not played with everything or even been to every room.
Oh and for parents... there is ample seating everywhere you turn. Rocking chairs, benches, couches, etc. Very nice when you get tired of chasing the kids around and need a break.
I highly recommend this place and recommend the annual pass. The whole year for my 3 kids and myself was around $80. One visit would have been in the $20-25 range I believe. So even coming here once a month or so, the pass is still a killer deal. So great for families on a budget that want somewhere indoors to be able to take the kids through the winter months.
It might be fun for younger children, but my son was aging out at 8 yo.
Halfway between a kids play space and an interactive museum. Very enjoyable exhibits that kept a 4 & 6 year old engaged for about 2 hours
Super cute and fun place to take your kiddos to be entertained for a few hours. The membership is definitely worth it in my opinion. I will say that I took my 3 year old and my 7 month old on a Friday afternoon and it was crazy busy and a little overwhelming for my son. I really appreciate how it is educational and offers many different hands on exhibits. The little classes (we went to a slime making one) they put on every so often are fun too!
I was really excited when I found out the museum was opening because it was the first one in the area. My children absolutely loved it and we chose to get a pass because of the daily admission prices. We went quite frequently but after a year my 5 year old started to lose interest. Some of the exhibits are definitely better than others. My kids loved the grocery store, pizza parlor, interactive video games, baby chicks, Dinosaurs and train table the most. I definitely think with time and more funding it will be really awesome! Thank you for entertaining my children.
I really think about 40% of their floor staff really don't like children or understand they are working around children. They are absolute sargeants about you cleaning up directly after your child is done playing with an item. They are letting too many people in at once
Loved this place! Our kids had a blast!
Amazing place for toddlers! We spent 2 hours here and they never stopped playing!
It's a fantastic place for kids but the fact that you can't bring snacks or water bottles in makes absolutely no sense, especially when your kids have dietary restrictions. They should also have a family pass that is reasonably priced.
This place is amazing! I wish we had found it sooner. My daughter was a bit overwhelmed as she wanted to play with everything. There's so many different activities and themes!
I also loved how clean everything seemed to be. And it was definitely organized. There was a room where kids could do various projects and it looked to have a schedule as well. So depending on the day and time you could have your child participate in a project.
Definitely will come back!
We had plans that fell through and found the Children's Museum by chance. Sure happy we did. Eight traveling kids ages-13 who'd been on each other's nerves all day , descended on the place like locusts. They spread out to really well designed fun and educational activities both inside and out. No fights, no bickering. Just laughter and smiles. The staff was excellent, and Jan the director came out to greet, answer questions. REally appreciate theirs sponsors like: Trader Joe's, meridian pizza, pediatric Urgent Care, Wright Brothers, Mtn West Bank, and Idaho game and fish, Idaho Power & Fam Bureau, Id Stem and others. Best Kids place we've found. Great price. Would do it again!
This is such a great place for kids!! My kids, 2 and 6, never want to leave! There is seating so I can nurse my 3 month old while entertaining and keeping an eye on my other two. There are so many hands on learning things that parents get to he involved with and help kids learn about all sorts of things. The staff is amazing and accommodating and the owner is one of the sweetest ladies I have ever met. We are so lucky to have this in Idaho. They just opened their doors and it is amazing what they have already have accomplished!! My kids and I will be regulars.
Cool exhibits, but it's kind of a bummer that adults pay full price to get in when the just sit and watch. HOWEVER, with a season pass, it's totally worth it! My kids (3 and 5) really can't get enough of this place! They can play for hours and then they beg to come back the next day.
I have to say though, my kids favorite parts about coming here are the story/learning times. Often they include an art project. My kids LOVE them! The staff member who does them is always very attentive and keeps all the children's attention. They love it and learn so much. It's the little extra touches like these, that make this place such a good place to visit in my opinion. I highly recommend it!
Location was clean and the staff friendly. Took my almost 9 year old son and 4 year old daughter. Most of the areas are intended for the 5 and under crowd, with a couple appealing up to 7 or 8 years. My daughter loved the grocery store and pizzeria, since she could engage in great pretend play. My son was bored out of his mind, aside from playing a bit with the trains. $8/person seems like a lot to spend for my daughter to make pretend salad and pizza. Would be worth the punch card price if you have toddlers plan to go multiple times.
It is fun for about 8/9 years old and younger. They enjoy it, especially the pizza making and store. The other exhibits could use some more work to make it more engaging but it looks nice. It is small too but I hope to see it grow.
Kids love it and there is a lot of fun activities to do. Best for younger kids. $8 is a little steep, especially for parents.
Absolutely fantastic place for kids! I have a 2 and 4 year old and they both had a wonderful time. There is a ton of things to play with and it is all educational to boot. Highly recommended. We got a year pass so we can go all we want.
Its different than what I expected. I was hoping for more science hands on stuff and instead it is a lot of community simulation activities. However, my daughter did enjoy the gardening and Trader Joe's display. This is great for 3-5 year old kids who have imaginative play. It was very busy on Saturday. I look forward to seeing the outdoor exhibits this spring.
My two year old loves this place! Lots of opportunities for imaginative play. Very clean and organized considering how busy it gets.
My girls loved this place! Good quality time! So many educational things to play to.
We are looking for a new ocasion to comeback at the Children's Museum!
One of our favorite places.
The museum is well organized and clean. The displays are fun and engaging and the props are in good condition. We’ve gone twice in the last two months.
My child has a great time when we go until we go to the bathroom. A children’s place should have children’s toilets and sinks. Small children can’t get themselves on the toilets or sit on the toilets without touching the seat with their hands. Then they can’t wash their hands because the counter is too tall, even with the one step stool they’ve put in there.
My family visited the new Children's Museum of Idaho a few weeks ago for the first time and my two boys LOVED IT! My boys (ages 2 & 6) enjoyed the many different areas of the museum. They enjoyed the farm, construction area, dentist, animal hospital, pirate area, cave, reading nook and multiple other areas. They also really loved making their own pizza in the Idaho Pizza Company area! It was great as a parent to be able to have my kids be safe, while also having fun and learning. We will definitely be back!
This place is so great for young children! My kid will spend hours here if we could. Each room is unique and encourages exploration and curiosity. They can explore in a safe, air-conditioned, fully enclosed place. They have a store, pizza parlor, train room, reading room, dentist, construction area, veterinarian clinic, farm area, cave, pirate ship and outdoor space. It's crazy!
Our 4 year old loved it and had a great time in his first time around. They had a few neat areas, but there wasn't a lot of educational material as you'd expect to see in a "museum".
Also, the $24 pricetag for two parents to take a toddler seemed a little excessive. Probably won't be back due to the cost/value ratio unless the adult pricing changes or we have a large group of young children.
Great place to bring your kids to learn and play. Parents are supposed to stay with their kids but every time I come I see at least 5 kids playing in one area without any Parents and start crowding and taking toys away from other kids trying to participate
It's basically a place with lots of toys for kids. Some fun stations, and I imagine some of the special events would be amusing. Friendly place. I was very slightly soured because they charged us for admission of two year old twins on their actual birthday. Even so, it'd be something I'd go back to on a rainy day.
Had a great time at the museum!!! My 3.5 year olds and 14mo old had a blast!! Not sure why there are so many negative reviews. Sure, it’s a new place so there are a few kinks to work out, but that’s to be expected! Lots of different stations and rooms for imaginative and real life play. So excited that we now have a children’s museum here! The only bummer was that while no food or drink was allowed in the Museum, there wasn’t a designated area to eat and drink or a place to buy food and drinks. Kids need to take breaks for snacks and water, but there was nothing. Definitely will be going back though!!!
Lots of great things for kids to see, do, play, etc. They added some new stuff since I was there last too. Great place to bring your kids. Try to come though when it's not super crowded.
My almost 4 year old loved this place! If I wasn't pregnant right now I would have signed up for a year membership. If you plan on visiting this children's museum 5+ times a year it is worth getting the membership. At least for a small family. 2 people are included for the membership. I'm sure they have larger options as well.
My 3 and 5 year old loved it! Such a great fun play for imaginative play and playing pretend! The items were actually a lot more organized than I expected. It was insanely busy but the kids still were able to take turns pretending to be at the bank shopping at trader joes making pizzas or milking the cows!
Amazing for kids. Great sections, including a toy train section, grocery store, pizza parlor, craft room, and outdoor area. My kids could have spent many hours here. If I lived in Idaho, I would get a membership in a heartbeat. A can't miss if you have young kids.
The grandkids had such a great time! Thanks for entertaining them for 2-3 hours, even though it was raining and we couldn't go to the outdoor area... That was a bit if a disappointment, but we will be back for sure. One suggestion...I think you should allow at lease one adult in for free when you have 2 or more kids you're having to pay for to get in.
I took four children ages 4,5,6, and 7. They absolutely loved it. We spent 2 hours there and could have stayed longer! Lots to do and explore. Well organized! The children move from station to station and can stay at each one as long as they desire....then they can go back. I would highly recommend this place. Just what our city needs!
This is a great place for kids. Our toddler up to our 10 year old had a blast! There are different themes areas for them to explore like a pirate ship, an airplane, a rocket, a farm, and more.
Kids had a great time. Was expensive to take the whole family. Disappointed they don’t have a “last hour of the day” type discount. It’s the best museum the treasure valley has to offer but falls short in so many ways compared to other children’s museums in other cities we’ve been to. Once again kids under 8 had a fabulous time and we were there for 3 hours but will only be a once in a while trip due to price.
The Children's Museum is a blast. My two and a half year old loves it and the different areas kept her (and my husband) entertained for hours. They have crafts and read alouds and other various activities as well in the Community Room on weekdays. They also offer a military rate, which we appreciate!
My daughter and her 2 year old son came from out of town. This was our 1st time there and it won't be our last! There are so many different things for "young" children to experience with their child or, grandchild. Personally, I'd say ages Toddler through 4th grade would enjoy. Yes, it is stroller and wheelchair friendly.
It's a cute little museum. I've always lived in big cities with giant children museums but for being in a smaller town it's a good size. $8 per person age 2 and up. They keep it tidy and I like that they have a curtain in the locker room for nursing.
My 3 year old likes going here. There are good exhibits and completely hands on of course. It is pretty small though and you can get through the whole place in about an hour or two. Don't expect to spend anywhere near the whole day.
All of my children played here for 2 hours without stopping. I had to tell them it was time to go. They loved it! I liked the set up. Definitely recommend!
This place was super fun to take our toddler. They have alot of local themed play areas, like an Idaho Pizza Company, Vet Clinic, Bank, and other local stores. They offer special classes and presentations, and it does get kind of busy inside and hard to play once a few people show up.
We love this place! The kids I watch always enjoy how much there is to do here. But if you don't have a full afternoon it's hard to get through it all which is great because then they want to go back and don't ever get bored of it! I highly recommend it and the price isn't to bad for what you get out of it
This place looks like it is going to be just what the valley needs. I had the pleasure of walking through it, although still under construction, and the exhibits for the kids are unreal. Parents and little ones are going to love all the hands on things they get to do, all while learning something new. Love that a lot of it is based on Idaho and what is found around here. Doors open December 2nd, can not wait!!!! Checked out the website for pricing, are you kidding me, so cheap compared to other places. And they do Field Trips and Birthday parties....can not get any better.
We were familiar with Portland's Children's Museum, and were really excited the Boise area had gotten one. We were VERY pleased with the Children's Museum of Idaho. It is definitely not as big as Portland's, but it has over a dozen really cool exhibits. Our 14, 11, and 8 year old kids all had a great time. We look forward to going back.
Can’t recommend this place enough. Very diverse offerings for kids to pretend play. Will for sure come back.
This facility, opening to the public on December 2, is going to be amazing. I am standing in what will be the Veterinary Office at this moment. This educational facility will provide children with access to hands on, fully immersive, learning aided by their adult guardian. It will be a place for kids to learn, and what they are passionate about. We look forward to playing with you all in a little over a week!
For toddlers. You need to get more things for 7 to 10 year olds.
It's great for a rainy day, and for imaginitive play. You have to pay for adults as well as children because they are promoting adults to play along side the children. No food or drink allowed. There are stations with props to play in different settings: shopping at trader Joe's, make pizza and salad at Idaho pizza, pilot an airplane, play in a spaceship, play with trains on a large raised train track, play house, pretend you are gardening and milking cows on the farm, be a veterinarian, projected games onto the floor to stomp on, outside the kids can pretend they are fishing or in the wild west. My kids could have stayed the entire day, but I was exhausted after a few hours 😆
The staff there are always friendly, it's pretty cheap to get in there and full of fun things for kids to do. I'll admit even I let my inner child out and played a few games with my daughter.
Much smaller & lower tech than other childrens museums I've visited, but admission is very reasonably priced in comparison. My 5 year-old granddaughter loved it, and is looking forward to returning.
This museum kept my three daughters happy and entertained for several hours. I like how they change out the theme very often and i have never seen them repeat a craft ot guided activity. Its definitely geared for kids under 12 years
Lots of awesome stuff for kids of all ages. Had stuff indoors and outdoors. The price is definitely worth the experience.
Absolutely love this place!!! They have so much variety for the kiddos. It is easy to stay for hours!
My kids loved the grocery store and that’s all that seemed to make this place stand out. For us. I would of had a better time if the 2 lady’s walking around weren’t repeating at 4:40 that they’re closing and that we have to pick up and leave. If you don’t want to pick up after the children (which is what was intended for) why make a business for children that’s going to be messy. I’m sorry you have to stay 30 minutes after when there’s 3-4 able to do it. I have never been to a business that’s telling me to leave every 30 seconds. Beyond rude. Definitely $24 not worth spending for the 35 minutes we were there.
Cute place with lots of activities for kids to explore. Has outdoors spaces and a toddler section. Reasonably priced. My kids always want to come back to play.
My boys had a BLAST!!!!! Worth checking out for sure if you have littles.
My grandchildren had a good time. I hope to see it expand as time goes on. I noticed that most of the volunteers were walking around just observing what kids were doing. Their time would have been better spent by wiping down surfaces with sanitizer as they were walking from exhibit to exhibit.
Man what can I say! My kids love this place! My 4 and 7 year old sons have so much fun whenever we come here. The airplane and pizza shop really excite my kids each time we go. I definitely recommend this place for anyone who has children.
So cute and fun! Tons to do and great learning opportunities! My girls are still talking about sugar bugs from story time.
My grand children loved it! My 3 and 5 year old didn't want to leave. The staff was kind and gentle, while encouraging cleanup and also showing them ways to use the exhibits. Excellent!
Great place to let your kids have fun and learn through play
A great place to take the grandkids! There are several interactive features for all age groups up to 11 yrs old. We were there for 3 hours! I will definitely return on my next visit to Boise.
A fun place to take your kiddos to. My kid is 3 and he enjoyed it. A really big place with lots of actvities both indoors and outdoors. It had an educational aspect to it. Also wheelchair accessible also for those that need it. Definitely worth checking out.
I have always wished for a place like this to exist! It was nonstop fun for my two toddlers. They spent hours exploring, asking questions, and creating. Just when you think you've seen everything, you turn a corner and there's more! It is worth the drive to Meridian.
I’m disappointed they’re having people *try* putting masks on 2 year olds when the CDC recommends kids OVER 2. I am not one to argue masks, my job requires I ask people to as well. I understand it all, I’m not an anti mask wear-er. But I try daily to get my (barely) 2 year old daughter to wear one and today was no different. Thanks to the ladies who asked me kindly and let me have one for her, I did try but I do highly recommend they change it to 3 years old.
It's a good indoor place for kids to play with all sorts of toys. They do have an outside area too. Fake cave, cow milking, fishing, pizza place and more.
This place is amazing, with a huge variety of play-items to cater to all sorts of interests kids might have. They do story time and crafts as well. My only complaint is that they charge the same admission price for adults as for children (not sure why, adults don't use any of the toys), and it ends up being very expensive even for only one child.
It was fun! Only thing is a some of the fun rooms to play in were closed. But we had a great time! I suggest going when they open, we tend to run into lots of kids in the afternoon
We brought our Niece and Nephew here and they absolutely loved it! There are so many hands-on things the kids can do including dressing the part! Our Nephew didn't want to leave. Definitely recommend!
Absolutely wonderful place!! We took our kids for my son's 3rd birthday and they had the best time. So much to do and very educational. They didn't want to leave!
Great for kids under 6yr. My 9yr played but not a lot of interest without friends. It was clean, well designed and great staff. Parents supervise their own children.
My daughter loved all of the interactive play spaces. We spent over 4 hours playing and it felt like 20 minutes. Will definitely go back when we are in Boise
It wasn't the best childrens museum I have been to. It was $24 for me, a 6 year old and a 2 year old to enter my son couldn't do much of anything except the baby area. We first went for a zumba class that was crammed into a small room so my daughter didnt even want to try. The interactive computers inside the jet and airplane are confusing and the steering wheels in the airplane need a heavy dose of WD-40. I was excited for a children's museum to open in boise but I think it still needs to come a long ways to be on par with other ones. The reason I gave it 3 stars instead of 2 is because my daughter stated she had fun.
Clean & well kept. Interior is finished. Exterior says it opens in spring 2019. Good for about 2-5 year olds. Don’t recommend going on weekends or holidays as it’s a mad house. If your kid(s) go to daycare or any kind of friends house with varied toys they may be a bit bored as well as many “toys” and exhibits are similar.
In my opinion a little ridiculous to charge adults $8/person to enter is all most adults do is follow their kids then sit on bench or stand nearby; talking to other adults or on their phones.
I couldn't rate this places highly enough. Such a fun experience for my daughter! They always have new activities and story times going on. Worth every single penny!
Amazing place for kids to explore the wonders of being an adult. The various areas like the Trader Joe's, Bank, and Veterinary Hospital are my kids favorites. The always have events going on. Such a wonderful place for the family.
The Museum is AMAZING!! Hands “ON” for little people to experience!! Bring your whole family for a great outing, December 2nd!, Plan to have birthday celebrations in this extraordinary environment that has been tailored for children ages 2-9.
My little one had the best time! The staff was super happy and fun, making this experience even richer ❤️.
Clean, cool, and lots of fun interactive activities for toddlers to mid age kiddos.
I can't say how it is everyday, when we went it was super busy, so we didn't get to okay with most thubgs. From what we did see, This place is meant for really really young kids. I would say 2-5, my older kids got bored really fast.
This place is an absolute gem here in the Treasure Valley. Took our 3.5 y.o. to this multiple time now and she loves it! Great environment and plenty of "grown up" things for kids to do and feel like adults! Super fun!
This place is so great for kids. So much interactive things for them to do and learn from. Teaches creativity and play.
Pretty fun area for younger kids. Kids 8 and older may struggle to be entertained here though.
It was fun so many things for the kids to do and play with and they also have a few live animals there as well
This is my toddler’s favorite place to go! She finds something new to explore every visit! You can tell so much thought went into every exhibit and the staff is friendly and inviting!!
Awesome awesome place for toddlers and young kids! So much to explore! And the staff are super friendly, helpful, and do a spectacular job of keeping the place tidy despite the chaos. They are so patient!
Lots of interesting things to see and play with.
We love this place. We have a pass and it's definitely worth it. I take my kids about once a week. My two year old never gets bored!
Loved it. My 9 month old grandson squealed snd clapped his hands more than I've ever seen him do. Lots of fun pretend play areas, lots of opportunities for you to interact with your child.
Touch a truck day, kids can climb in the cab an honk the horns
The kids had fun but there is not much there, it took us 30 minutes to see it all. The pizza bar was fun for them and the vet clinic but other than that there wasn't much interaction.
Definitely geared towards little little ones, was fun to watch my toddler explore. Recommend.
The Children's Museum of Idaho will be open on December 2, 2018! Yes, there is a bit of dust now but please come back and visit in December. You will not be disappointed! The care and attention to every detail is just amazing!
On Dec. 2 the Children's Museum of Idaho will be opening to the public. It is going to be amazing! The hands-on exhibits such as the Maker Space, the veterinary office, the dinosaur dig, and the dentist office (and so much more!) will be so fun for children and their families.
The kids love the different exhibits and rooms with things to do. They are learning and don't even realize it.
This place is amazing! We bought a membership for our son because there is always something new. Great for the whole family!
There was so much fun stuff to do here and my toddler loved every second here. His favorite was the pizza restaurant and he keeps wanting to go make pizza even though we don't live in Idaho!
This is the perfect place to take young kiddos! They could literally spend hours here. So much imaginary play. We only ever leave because the kids get hungry 😆 …
Happy to change my review from a one star to a 5 star with the announcement of the museum closing to the public to allow a day for foster children to have a free day at the museum! Thank you for recognizing the children in most need of a fun day!
Come visit the Children's Museum of Idaho in December! The museum opens to the public on December 2nd and will delight the little ones with the amazing hands on and interactive exhibits. Visitors will have great fun in the cave, airport, bank, vet, rocket ship, train and so much more.
Kind of odd they charge parents full admission price , but overall great place.
We took our 4+6 year olds and they were so sad when it was time to leave. Staff was friendly and the place was kept very clean even with a bunch of kids running around. We purchased memberships and will be back regularly!
Fun place for kids. Nothing exciting but the kids will enjoy their time there. My son enjoyed the aquarium in the lobby more than anything inside.
This place is great for children of all ages
Mark you calendars for Dec 2nd! The Children's museum of Idaho will be celebrating it's grand opening. The exhibits will be hands on and engaging for the whole family. We look forward to seeing you.
We love our annual membership to the museum. The workers are polite and friendly. The toys are in good condition. The restrooms are clean. The membership is a good value.
Many hands on exhibits. Essentially a place where kids are encouraged to touch, explore, and play. Great fun. Check out their Facebook page for the latest events and special crafts.
Always a fun and exciting place to visit. The educational interactive exhibits were a hit with young and old alike. We appreciated the Military discount too.
Super cool place to take kids. I would say age range is 2 to 8. Little spendy unless you do memberships and plan to go offten
It was great for my 3 year old. Lots of hands on different stations. Admission for adults is pointless your just standing around watching your kids play.
We love our new children's museum. Our grandchildren love it too. Story time & art project with Erin is super fun.
Great place for little ones! Ages 0 - 5 would benefit the most but is open for kids of all ages. Always clean and super fun.
I love this place! So much for children to do indoors and outside areas. If youre looking for activity for mind and body this is the place to be. Fantastic
My two boys had so much fun! So many interesting hands-on activities, it kept them busy for hours. They’re already asking to go back.
It's fun, but not nearly as comprehensive as some others we've visited. But a good start!
Trader Joe's has a great display.
The kids love it. But, management needs to pay a little more attention to small safety issues and making sure exhibits and items are functioning properly.
Been twice with my 3 kids age 6 and under. Fun for them all. New outdoor exhibits now open too!
So New. So many different thinks for the kids, have nothing but good ckean fun. Staff is helpful and they take care of the activity areas well.
Cool place.
It was ok, however, when I had attended a meridian committee luncheon and heard about this place, I had imagined something a bit more interesting and more interactive. Some of the stations are ok some are lacking entirely. Cheap quick fun I guess.
Insanely cool place. Great annual membership and so many things to do the kids never get tired of visiting
The Children's Museum of Idaho opens Dec. 2, 2018 and will offer over 23 indoor and outdoor interactive exhibits to ignite the imaginations of your little ones. Exhibits include a Trader Joe's mini grocery store, pirate ship, Idaho Pizza Co bistro, rocket ship, airplane, vet clinic, dentist office, Moutain West Bank and much more!
Great for ages 2/9 , have more interactive items for under 5. Our 8 yr. Old grandson enjoyed about 60 % of it!
Very cool and perfect size. Lots for all ages to learn and have fun.
Always nice going here. They say you need masks and provide them but most people I see did not have them on. 😐 …
Came for a birthday party. It's more for younger kids but my 11 and 9 yr olds loved it.
Our 6 and 2 year old had a blast!! Especially at the train table and water table.
We love it have been in desperate need of something like this in Idaho for r a while. Much more fun for little ones then the discovery center downtown. Clean. Friendly. Lots to explore. Trains, pirates, shopping center, and much more to find.
This was a fun place. My kids & I had alot of fun very educational.
This place is awesome for kids, so much fun stuff for them to do. My son goes nuts for their train tables and all the interactive stations they have.
This place looks amazing! Having a resource like this in Meridian where the lifestyle is so family-centric means its long over due. Glad someone has had the vision and talent to make it happen!
Such an amazing place for little ones.
Such a great place for our 2.5 year old. She loves it. It’s hard to peel her away.
Amazing place! So fun & interesting. Kept the toddler happy for over 2 hours. Cheap price too!!!
It has quite a few different areas your kids can play at, but it is smaller so call to see if there are field trips before you go.
Fun place for your grandchildren 12 & under
Great place for younger children, we had lots of fun
Can't wait for all the expansions and new ideas. My kid loves it there. So much fun. Except the bank. That's pretty boring.
A wonderful experience for the kids. The price is so affordable!! We stayed all day!
Kids loved everything here, stayed most of the day! Lots of hands on stuff, and overall great experience!
Exactly what this area needed. Got my kids (aged 2 and 4) a membership for Christmas, and it has already given us its value, with many more fun visits ahead!
My boys loved the train set. They have a lots of fun exhibits.
So much stuff for the kids to do. I will for sure go back. Maybe even get a season pass.
So much fun my granddaughter loved it, and they are very good about sanitizing!
Perfect for littles! Lots of fun activities! My kids had a great time.
Unfortunately Captain America was asked to leave since I came in a short notice..
I felt bad for the kids, children at heart, & the troops who felt Captain America was a great addition to the event!!
Always a blast. Staff is committed to safety and cleanliness and the environment is very secure.
My baby loves it there, I think its kinda ridiculous that adults have to pay an entry too and it ends up becoming pricey
Great places to have the kids spend the afternoon learning and playing all in one!
Great place for kids to explore hands on! My toddler loves it
This place is so great. My kids have a blast when we go and the price affordable.
Wonderful place to take your kids :) took us 3 1/2 hours to get through everything.
My kids LOVED this place! They never got bored and we were there for 3 hours!!
Wish had longer hours. Really cool place my daughter went for her birthday and did not have time to see everything. :(
A nice, friendly place for kids to have some fun.

Kids loved it. Lots of small play places and activities for them to do.
Great place to hang with the kids and show them how stuff works. Lots of learning opportunities in a play setting.
What a fun place for little kids to play and learn! My two year old had a wonderful time!
Very fun and educational for kids. Even had fun there as an adult!
We love this place so much we go there at least twice a week the staff is so nice and helpful and I just wish people would remember to clean up after themselves it’s not the staff’s job it’s our job to teach our kids to clean up after themselves
Fun hands on stuff! We all loved the Trader Joe's and Idaho Pizza Company sections.
Lots of great exhibits here for kids. Very well done.
So many great engaging activities to do with my son here!! We love it 😊 …
Great for young kids wish you could bring drinks inside but probably difficult with the young ones
Space is small. Really happy with how much they are working on bringing great things for kids
Great for 3-8 year olds, lots to do, and fun for parents too.
My kids loved it and it was affordable for how much fun they had
I'm not sure how this is w Museum.... I think it is just tax related or whatever. Some cut back from being a museum.
It is fun and always packed.
Just got some new things for the kids to enjoy, both outside and inside!
Such a fun place for small kids!
The kids love playing here. The storytime and craft were great.

Small but probably appropriately size for the area. Place is orderly and clean.
What a GREAT place! So many hands-on experiences for children to learn and play!
