Reviews of Negro Southern League Museum
A must visit for baseball fans. Great exhibits. Free museum. The gift shop was a disappointing. My husband was looking to purchase an old school Baron's hat or shirt.
Had an awesome visit with family members from Charleston, S.C.!!!
The receptionist was very courteous!!! The facility was fully equipped and comfortable!!! The displays were very impressive!!! Bo Jackson, we love you!!
We were visiting BHAM and caught wind of their drive by Jackie Robinson celebration so we popped by. It was a great event - we were able to tour the facility as well as see a few of the previous black baron players!
I know nothing of baseball, nor do I care for it either. But it was important for me to visit this Museum! Incredibly informative. Especially the part about Jackie Robinson.
Probably one of the best baseball experiences I've ever had. If you are a historian of baseball, you should visit.
I took my 4 kids here Amazing place !
Beautifully constructed museum paying homage to African American history. The volunteers were local college students who were very accommodating.
So much FUN. This is a quiet gem in Birmingham. Great place to take anyone visiting from out of town like we did. I plan to bring my students next year.
Vital part of Baseball History and should be celebrated by all 👊🏾 …
Very interesting and important history to be learned for any American! Very helpful and pleasant employees. Clean atmosphere very well lit and inviting. This was the highlight of my brief trip from Ohio to Florida and back. Thanks to the museum staff and the city of Birmingham!
Please go see African American baseball museum very informative..
Great place to see Birmingham history. A nice hidden gem in Birmingham and it is free.
An excellent tribute. Well-organized, interesting exhibits. The Satchel Page pitch interactive exhibit was a favorite for my kids. The museum staff was great and showed us special attention that really helped make the experience a great one, especially for the kids. Well done museum covering a unique piece of history.
Wow!! Went on a tour!! It was very informative!! It was great to find out how the Negro League was formed, the history of it & the great Negro baseball players.
This is an amazing Museum with a lot of history. The inter activity was a great component; my 3-year-old enjoyed it. Our tour given by the director of the museum was enlighten and fresh. We will definitely be coming back and telling all of our in town and out of town friends and family about this great learning treasure.
Museum was beautifully curated and staff were wonderful. We had the place practically to ourselves and it was free to get in. We all loved it. A beautiful little gem about a piece of American history I knew little about beforehand.
The Museum is a true gem in the city! I was impressed by the kinds of rare artifacts housed there and by the fact that you can visit on a random day and end up meeting one of the former players. The director - Natasha - is warm and welcoming, and is passionate about highlighting the collection and gaining support for the Museum.
I thoroughly enjoyed the museum. As a mother of two boys, you are always searching for ways to educate your children and keep their interest. This place did exactly that. Ms. Natasha demonstrated to my 9 year old how the baseball simulator worked, and he was ecstatic. The museum not only shows a rich history of baseball, but it threads in elements of common interests for everyone.
Interesting, offen overlooked local small museum that is worth a visit. Across from Railroad Park.
I have had the opportunity to visit the museum on several occasions in the past few months and loved the facility. The director, Natasha Rogers, was very professional and her team was very helpful. I definitely look forward to attending for future events.
The museum is very nice. I gathered some valuable, historical information. It was very well laid out. I enjoyed the walking tour. Parking is difficult. There is not a parking lot, only spaces on the street.
I took my 2 kids and on that day we had arrived just after a school field trip so there were alot of kids and it's not a large space. Everyone is very nostalgic and helpful but parking is the drawback. Its a business district so we had to walk 5 blocks. Overall wish we could have spent more time learning.
All baseball fans should visit this museum.
Admission is free. But donate to help support a fantastic/historic baseball history.
A great piece of American history that should be supported by all.
The facility is centrally located to many attractions that include food, entertainment, and more. I have visited twice this year and the staff is always welcoming, facility is clean, and the collections are instrumental in learning the history of baseball in Alabama. If you are in the area please make plans to visit and introduce yourself to their team. It's also a great place to host an event.
#Awesome, I think every black person (young & old) should check this out from a heritage standpoint. I will definitely go back and post pictures next time around...
The significance behind this historical museum speaks for itself alone. My family and I visit often. It is a MUST SEE and a MUST DO while you’re in BIRMINGHAM. My Son loves the interactive batting experience.
Had A Great Time Enjoy The Play With My Noma Gregory & Grandkids.
Good information for everyone not just baseball fans. Wish they had a gift shop. I would have bought a postcard at the very least and I always am looking for a good baseball book.
We really enjoyed touring the museaum. The staff was so helpful and took some time to share stories and answer our questions. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience!
What a great place! The musuem is field with so much history and information about the roles African Americans played in the the success of basenball as a whole. My family and I enjoyed it.
Had a tour today with our Senior Group. Three of the players were there and a joy to be around. We had a great day at a great facility with a great staff. Thanks!
Wow, love this museum. Exhibits were well done and informative. Easy parking, will be back with handicapped family member who loves baseball.
Find out it was closed temporarily when I arrived but the website didn't say it was closed. Better communication and updating the website. So I have not been in the museum yet.
Great experience. A wealth of information about baseball, integration, and unknown history of international proportion. Don't miss this gem nestled on the Southside of Birmingham!
I went to see my Grandfather's, Mildred " Rick Laurent's uniform...the most complete uniform in existence.
Beautiful venue...
As an Alumni Board Member of the Jackie Robinson Foundation and native of Birmingham, I'm proud of the work Director Natasha Rogers is doing at the NSLM. It is truly a gem to have in our great city!
One of the best places I'd visited! Appreciate the influence on baseball that Birmingham has offered over the years. So worth the visit!
Loved it. Would definitely recommend as a stop especially if you're a baseball fan.
Excellent educational piece of history for all baseball fans. Your kids will truly enjoy the experience.
Baseball fan or not this museum is well worth visiting
A great place to visit and get a taste of baseball history. New Management and staff made the experience worthwhile.
This place is a hidden gem! Great exhibits, great volunteers! Be sure to take a pitch from Satchel!
Mix emotions. Very interesting place. Just feel sad, to know about black people life back late 1800.
A must see! Tons of great memorabilia on display and a history lessons everyone can learn from.
Stopped through Birmingham on our way back home to Florida. Found this place while walking downtown and so glad we did!!

Nice experience. But not much in it yet. Thinking it might be better in a few years 🤞 …
It was an unexpected gem. Very done and so informative. Thank you for your gracious welcome.
New, modern, good exhibits. Parking was difficult, but it's to be expected in that area.
A must see for everyone who visits Birmingham and all who live here.
A tribute to our Black History !
A little slice of Birmingham history. Give yourself about two hours to work through the exhibits.
